The Weeknd Adds 2023 Tour Dates

By Rob Arcand

The Weeknd wearing sunglasses

Just one day after bringing the first leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour to a close, the Weeknd has announced even more tour dates to come in the new year. The second leg begins in June 2023, and the trek runs through Europe and Latin America. Check out the Weeknd’s schedule below.

The Weeknd released his fifth studio album, Dawn FM , in January. The album was withheld from consideration for the 2023 Grammy Awards , continuing a boycott that started in 2021 after the Weeknd’s previous album, After Hours , failed to receive any Grammy nominations. Despite the boycott, the Weeknd won the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his contributions to the Kanye West song “Hurricane.”

The Weeknd will embark on the second leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour in spring 2023, playing shows in Europe and Latin America territories.

The 27-date stadium tour begins June 10, 2023, at Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

From there, The Weeknd will visit Dublin, London, Milan, Paris, Munich, Mexico City and São Paulo, before concluding with a show in Santiago, Chile, on Oct. 15, 2023.

According to The Weeknd’s website, “fans who had tickets for the 2022 After Hours Arena Tour in Europe” can visit this landing page for presale access.

General on-sale tickets start this Friday, Dec. 2, at 12 p.m. local time.

Kaytranada and Mike Dean retain their North American duties as special guests on select dates.

The Weeknd’s upcoming 2023 dates follow his sold-out North American After Hours Til Dawn Tour , which recently concluded with two nights in Los Angeles.

The tour will continue to support his 2022 album Dawn FM , released Jan. 6 via XO/Republic Records. He quickly responded with an expanded edition, Dawn FM: Alternative World .

Dawn FM featured previously shared tracks “ Take My Breath ” and “ Sacrifice .” Cliqua directed the visual for both tracks.

Speaking of “Sacrifice,” Chxrry22 , signed to XO Records, recently released her version .

Throughout the year, The Weeknd dished out alternate versions of Dawn FM tracks, including “ Out of Time ,” “How Do I Make You Love Me?” and “ Best Friend ,” to name a few.

Kaytranada remixed variations for the first track, while Summer Walker joined The Weeknd for the latter standout.

The Weeknd earned two nominations at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, including Male Artist of 2022 and Album of 2022 ( Dawn FM ).

Music aside, The Weeknd has a new series coming to HBO and HBO Max titled The Idol . It’s described as “the sleaziest love story in all Hollywood.” (The trailer can be viewed above.)

Briefly touching on Kaytranada, he recently released “ Twin Flame ” with Anderson .Paak in August. He contributed production to Joyce Wrice ‘s recent project, Motive , released in October.

Kaytranada is nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Recording (“ Intimated ” featuring H.E.R.) at the 65th Grammy Awards. The track appears on his 2021 EP of the same name.

Canadian singer The Weeknd will bring his long-awaited After Hours til Dawn stadium tour to Dublin this week, before setting off to the rest of Europe and Latin America. The star’s latest album, Dawn FM, was released in 2022, it was the second of a trilogy, with the third said to be in the works. However, The Weeknd recently turned to acting, in Sky Atlantic’s series The Idol , where he plays self-help guru and cult leader Tedros alongside Lily-Rose Depp . But back to the singing, with hits such as Starboy and Can’t Feel My Face, Irish fans are surely in for a treat.

When does he play?

The Weeknd will play to a crowd of about 40,000 people at Marlay Park in south Dublin on Wednesday, June 28th.

What time should I arrive?

Gates open at 4pm, with show times yet to be announced. Amid increased traffic and security measures, fans have been advised to be at the venue in sufficient time. No overnight or early queuing is permitted.

Who are the support acts?

Kaytranada is a Haitian-Canadian record producer, rapper and DJ – and a double Grammy award winner. US record producer and mixer Mike Dean is also on the bill, who has worked with the likes of Beyoncé and Drake, to name a few.

How do I get there – and home again?

Concertgoers have been asked to allow at least an extra two hours travel time to and from the venue. Organisers have said delays are “inevitable” and fans are encouraged to use the special event transport outlined below.

By bus: Buses will transport fans to Marlay Park. For information on where and when to get a bus, visit evntz.ie . Marathon are operating a bus service from Custom House Quay in the city centre direct to the concert grounds. Tickets can be purchased here .

By Luas: Take the Luas green line from the city centre to Dundrum or Balally, both are a 35-minute walk to Marlay Park. A shuttle bus from Dundrum Luas stop to the venue will run every 30 minutes from 3.30pm, tickets can be purchased from Marathon here .

By car: Car parking at Marlay Park is extremely limited and must be pre-booked for €25 per car. At the time of writing, it is sold out . The car park entrance is located on College Road and is accessed via Whitechurch Road. Only those who have pre-booked can park here. The organisers recommend the SuperValu car park on Balinteer Avenue as a suitable spot for drop off and collection by car. There will be road closures surrounding Marlay Park on the day.

By taxi: Following the concert, a passenger pickup point will be facilitated on the Brehon Field Road, however, the organisers have said they cannot guarantee taxis will be available.

Accessible parking must be booked in advance. You can contact [email protected] to register.

What will he play?

The Weeknd recently performed his tour in Amsterdam, on June 24th, with a pretty jam-packed set. You can expect the Dublin gig to look at little like this:

  • Take My Breath
  • How Do I Make You Love Me?
  • Can’t Feel My Face
  • Lost in the Fire
  • House of Balloons
  • Party Monster
  • After Hours
  • Out of Time
  • I Feel It Coming
  • Die For You
  • Is There Someone Else?
  • I Was Never There
  • Wicked Games
  • Call Out My Name
  • High For This
  • The Morning
  • Save Your Tears
  • Less Than Zero
  • Blinding Lights

Are there any tickets left?

This is a sold-out show, with no resale tickets available. Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, last month advised fans to download their tickets to their phones before getting to the park as there is no guarantee of internet connection at the gates of Marlay Park.

What’s the story with security?

Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult; bring your passport, Garda age card or driving licence as evidence of your date of birth. Allow time for security checks on the way in. Bags larger than A4 size will not be permitted and all bags may be searched, and this can be time-consuming, so consider going bagless for easier entry. There will be no cloakroom or storage facilities. No umbrellas, alcohol, garden furniture, selfie sticks, flares, glasses or cans, among other items, will be allowed into the event. There are no readmissions to the concert, so once you leave there’s no getting back in.

Supt Tomás Gormley of Tallaght Garda station told a preconcert press conference last month: “There will be a big policing operation in place which will impact our policing commitments around the rest of the district,” adding his “number one priority” was keeping eventgoers and the surrounding community safe.

Can I take photographs at the concert?

Yes, but only with a smartphone or small camera. Professional cameras with a detachable lens and any other recording equipment are banned.

What’s the weather forecast?

Met Éireann is forecasting sunny spells, but with a few isolated showers at times, and temperatures of up to 21 degrees.

Billboard Canada

Every Canadian Artist Who Has Had More Than One No. 1 Hit on the Billboard Hot 100

Since the chart launched in 1959, dozens of canadian songs have climbed to the top spot — but only eight canadian stars have ever hit no. 1 more than once, including drake, justin bieber, the weeknd and paul anka..

Justin Bieber

  • Justin Bieber

Canadians have had their share of No. 1 hits since the Billboard Hot 100 first launched in 1959, but only a select group of Canadian artists have ever done it twice.

Number one on the Billboard Hot 100 is a coveted spot, with artists and their teams battling it out to claim the placement. Teen idol Paul Anka was the first Canadian to hit that height in July of 1959 with "Lonely Boy," (also the title of an influential Canadian documentary about him).

60 Canadian songs have achieved that feat, and eight Canadian artists have done it more than once. Drake has the most No. 1 hits, with 13 to his name so far. But he doesn't have the longest No. 1 streak — that goes to Justin Bieber, whose assist on " Despacito " by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee topped the charts for 16 weeks. Bieber is also the youngest solo artist to notch 100 tracks on the chart .

advertisement

Bieber has the second most No. 1 hits, scoring eight in his career, followed by the Weeknd with seven, Bryan Adams and Celine Dion with four each, Nelly Furtado with three, and Paul Anka and Randy Bachman with two each (Bachman had one with The Guess Who and one with Bachman Turner Overdrive).

That list is a reminder that it's not always the most iconic stars who are landing No. 1 placements — Alanis Morissette and Shania Twain, two of the most successful Canadian artists of the '90s, have no No. 1 hits. Neither does Joni Mitchell, though fellow Yorkville folk scene icon Neil Young grabbed one in 1972 with "Heart of Gold," as did the late Gordon Lightfoot in 1974 with "Sundown."

It's also a testament to the strategy of the featured artist: several of Drake and Bieber's No. 1 hits come through their work as featured artists, like Bieber's spot on DJ Khaled's "I'm The One" and Drake's verse on Rihanna's "Work" (the latter song was also written by Canadian PartyNextDoor).

Every Canadian Artist to Top The Billboard Hot 100 Twice

  • Bryan Adams
  • Celine Dion
  • Nelly Furtado

Looking at how the songs break down over decade, it seems like the 2010s were easily the most successful era for Canadian artists on the Hot 100. That decade had 18 Canadian No. 1s, including Carly Rae Jepsen's incredibly catchy "Call Me Maybe," Shawn Mendes' sultry "Señorita."

But for the most part, those No. 1's came from the same three artists: Drake, The Weeknd and Bieber. The 2020s seem poised to repeat the same pattern, with 13 Canadian No. 1's so far, all by those three.

The '70s, on the other hand, had fewer Canadian No. 1's, but more Canadian No. 1 artists, with eight Canadian acts claiming the top spot. In addition to Lightfoot, Young, Anka and Bachman's bands, Canadian musicians Nick Glider, Terry Jacks and Andy Kim all scored No. 1's in the '70s.

The difference in decades points out how rarefied that top spot has become, harder to achieve without megastar status and a massive fanbase. Canadian Tate McRae nearly became the newest Canadian with a Hot 100 No. 1 with "Greedy," but peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. Hot 100. As the 2020s roll on, Canadian superstars are likely to grab some more hits, but it remains to be seen whether any rising acts are able to join them.

Drake's Toronto mansion has been the site of two incidents prompting police involvement this week.

CityNews reports a break-in attempt at the Bridle Path property around 2 p.m. on May 8, with police back at the residence just one day after a security guard was shot outside.

“Officers were called after a person attempted to gain access to the property,” according to a police spokesperson. “The person was apprehended under the Mental Health Act.”

Police have not released any further details regarding the apprehended person, or any relation between the break-in and the shooting the day before. The shooting took place after 2 a.m. on May 7, with the victim taken to hospital for serious injuries.

A Google Maps image of Drake's Toronto home was featured on the cover of Kendrick Lamar’s "Not Like Us" diss track aimed at Drake, part of a heated battle between the two rap titans .

The location of the residence was already well known in Toronto, with the house featured in the video for Toosie Slide in 2020.

Police have said it's too soon to comment on a motive behind the shooting.

Beyoncé’s new album has finally been forced from no. 1.

Beyoncé shocked the world earlier this year when she made a hard pivot musically. The superstar changed direction from dance and electronic music to country, which is a genre few could have predicted she’d try her hand at just a few years ago. Of course, she succeeded brilliantly–as she always does–but eventually, her first country project had to begin to fall.

This week, for the first time since her new full-length Cowboy Carter arrived, Beyoncé does not appear at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. Billboard publishes that list every frame to show which country albums were the most-consumed in the U.S. during the past tracking week. The ranking uses a methodology that combines streams and sales to paint a picture of listening habits in America.

Morgan Wallen is back at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart this week. The controversial musician’s One Thing at a Time rises from the runner-up rung to recapture the throne.

One Thing at a Time is already one of the most successful full-lengths in country music history. The title has lived on the Top Country Albums chart for 61 frames. 46 of those–including this turn–have been at No. 1.

Cowboy Carter falls just one space on the Top Country Albums chart, which is a very healthy beginning of what may be a slow decline. Bey’s first country set debuted atop the tally and then held there for four consecutive frames, which means it was a certified win in the genre.

Over on the Billboard 200, One Thing at a Time is on the rise as well. The blockbuster project jumps to the runner-up space, though it can’t make a play for No. 1, as Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is still winning by a mile. Cowboy Carter is still present inside the top five, landing at No. 4.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar's longstanding feud, explained

The beef between hip-hop stars Drake and Kendrick Lamar keeps heating up.

After the rappers released numerous diss tracks about each other in recent days, Drake dropped “The Heart Part 6” on May 5, in which he denied Lamar’s allegations that he likes underage girls and is hiding another child. (Drake is father to 6 -year-old Adonis , though he initially denied reports he was the father before appearing to confirm his fatherhood on his 2018 album, "Scorpion.")

“Speakin’ of anything with a child, let’s get to that now/ This Epstein angle was the s--- I expected/ TikTok videos you collected and dissected/ Instead of being on some dis-direct s---, you rather f------ grab your pen and misdirect s---,” Drake rapped on the track.

The 5-minute-plus song is a reference to Lamar’s 2022 track “The Heart Part 5,” and calls out Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize, in addition to alleging Drake and his associates made up information about having a secret daughter for Lamar to use in a future song.

"We plotted for a week and then we fed you the information/ A daughter that’s 11 years old, I bet he takes it/ We thought about giving a fake name or a destination/ But you so thirsty, you not concerned with investigation," Drake rapped.

Lamar has yet to respond as of publishing on May 6, but he previously released “Not Like Us” on May 4, which was Lamar's fourth diss track aimed at Drake and the third released in less than 48 hours.

The track, which uses an uptempo beat produced by famed hip-hop producer DJ Mustard, can be described as another verbal attack against the Toronto rapper, with allegations of Drake allegedly grooming young women — seemingly accusing him of pedophilia.

“Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young/ You better not ever go to cell block one,” Lamar rhymes, before later referencing Drake’s 2021 album, “Certified Lover Boy,” by saying, “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles.”

The West Coast rapper's newest release came just hours after he posted “ Meet the Grahams ,” a response to Drake’s third diss track, “ Family Matters .”

In “ Meet the Grahams ,” Kendrick appears to call out Drake — whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham — for being a deadbeat dad, alleging he's hiding a second child, a daughter, from the world.

“You lied about your son, you lied about your daughter, huh, you lied about them other kids that’s out there hoping that you come,” he raps.

Lamar also takes shots at Drake's family, and alleges the Toronto rapper had cosmetic surgery, rhyming in part, “Get some discipline, don’t cut them corners like your daddy did. F--- what Ozempic did. Don't pay to play with them Brazilians, get a gym membership.”

His track came just minutes after Drake dropped “Family Matters” on YouTube as a follow-up to Lamar’s “6:16 in LA” diss track, which was released May 3. In his response, Drake alleges Lamar’s relationship with fiancée Whitney Alford is riddled with abuse and infidelity.

“You the Black messiah wifing up a mixed queen/ And hit vanilla cream to help out with your self-esteem/ On some Bobby s---, I wanna know what Whitney need,” he spits, before later adding, “When you put your hands on your girl, is it self-defense ’cause she’s bigger than you?”

Drake and Kendrick Lamar did not respond to TODAY.com's request for comment on May 4 on their specific diss tracks and what their songs allege.

Drake's “Family Matters” came just days after Lamar released the track “Euphoria” late last week, which also targeted Drake, who, perhaps not coincidentally, happens to have served as an executive producer on the TV series "Euphoria."

Lamar, who's won a Pulitzer Prize for his music, bashed the more commercially successful Drake on the track, rapping, "I make music that electrify ’em, you make music that pacify ’em.”

Lamar's initial diss tracks were released in response to Drake’s April 19 record "Push Ups," featuring lyrics that mocked, among other other things, Lamar's musical collaborations. Drake also called the slight rapper "pipsqueak" in the song.

The month before, Lamar blasted Drake in guest verses on a Future and Metro Boomin collaboration called “Like That," which rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Hip-hop fans may remember a time when the two rappers were more like buddies than rivals, even collaborating and touring together.

So what caused the rift between Drake and his one-time pal Lamar? Read on to learn a timeline of one of rap's most enduring feuds, and see how celebs like Seth Rogen have weighed in with their opinions.

2011: Lamar appears as a guest on Drake's album 'Take Care'

Early in his career, Kendrick Lamar appeared as a guest artist on the song “Buried Alive Interlude” on Drake's second studio album, "Take Care," released in November 2011.

February 2012: Drake invites Lamar to be his opening act on his 'Club Paradise Tour'

Drake followed that up by inviting Lamar and A$AP Rocky to be the opening acts on his "Club Paradise Tour," which launched in February 2012.

October 2012: The two rappers collaborate on the track 'Poetic Justice' from Lamar's album 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City'

Drake and Lamar collaborated on the song "Poetic Justice" featured on Lamar's studio album "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City," released in October 2012.

The same month, Drake and Lamar appeared as guests on A$AP Rocky’s song “F----- Problems."

August 2013: Lamar takes a shot at Drake and other rappers on Big Sean’s 'Control'

Tensions began when Lamar called out Drake and 11 other rappers by name when he appeared as a guest on Big Sean's song "Control" in August 2013.

“I got love for you all but I’m trying to murder you n----/ Trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you n----/ They don’t want to hear not one more noun or verb from you n---- ," he rapped on the track.

Full of swagger over his rising success, Lamar also declared himself both “King of New York” and “King of the Coast” on the track.

August 2013: Drake shrugs off Lamar's verse in an interview

Two weeks after "Control" is released, Drake reveals in a cover story for Billboard that Lamar's nasty name-check didn't upset him.

"It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was," Drake told the publication. "I know good and well that (Lamar)’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform."

September 2013: Drake says it's 'all love' between him and Lamar

Drake reportedly doubled down on the soundness of his friendship with Lamar during a live #CRWN interview with Elliott Wilson of RapRadar on Sept. 22, 2013, in New York, according to Vibe .

After conceding that Lamar's biting guest verse on "Control" was a "moment to talk about," Drake said the two rappers saw each other at the MTV VMAs soon after the song was released.

“I saw him five days later at the VMAs and it was all love,” Drake recalled.

October 2013: Lamar disses Drake again in his BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher

Lamar appeared to be taking aim at Drake again in his BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher in October 2013.

Lamar's performance came within days of Drake releasing his September 2013 album “Nothing Was the Same."

“Nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control’/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes/ Ha ha joke’s on you, high-five… I’m bulletproof/ Your shots never penetrate/ Pin the tail on the donkey, boy you been a fake," he rapped.

December 2013: Drake tells an interviewer he feels like he's being 'baited' by Lamar

Speaking to Vibe in December 2013, Drake revealed that he felt as though he was being "baited" by Lamar on the "Control" verse.

“Where it became an issue is that I was rolling out an album while that verse was still bubbling, so my album rollout became about this thing. What am I supposed to say? Nah, we’ll be buddy-buddy?" asked the rapper.

"Mind you, I never once said he’s a bad guy (or) I don’t like him. I think he’s a f----- genius in his own right, but I also stood my ground as I should.

"And with that came another step, which then I have to realize I’m being baited and I’m not gonna fall," he said. "(Michael) Jordan doesn’t have to play pickup to prove that he could play ball, no offense. But I’m not gonna give you the chance to shake me necessarily, ’cause I feel great. There’s no real issue."

2014 - 2020: The two rappers take shots at each other on several more diss tracks

The beef between the two rappers continued for several more years as they released or appeared as guest artists on several more diss tracks taking shots at each other.

By 2020, the bad feelings appeared to have faded away. But not for long.

October 2023: J. Cole collaborates with Drake on 'First Person Shooter'

In October 2023, Drake collaborated with fellow rapper J.Cole on a track called "First Person Shooter." J. Cole brags about his rapping prowess on the track, referring to himself, Drake and Lamar as the "Big Three," singling himself out as Muhammad Ali, or in other words, the greatest of all.

For his part, Drake boasted about his own popularity as a music star, comparing himself to Michael Jackson.

March 2024: Lamar blasts Drake and J.Cole on 'Like That'

In March 2024, Lamar responded to "First Person Shooter" by blasting Drake and J.Cole in guest verses on Metro Boomin and Future's collaborative track “Like That," which rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Lamar laughed off the idea of a "Big 3," insisting there was only a "Big Me," and then ridiculed Drake for likening himself to Michael Jackson by insisting he would be Prince in the scenario.

"Prince outlived Mike Jack," he rapped.

April 19, 2024: Drake calls Lamar a 'pipsqueak' on 'Push Ups'

A fired-up Drake blasted back at Lamar the following month with the diss track "Push Ups," on which he addressed the diminutive rapper as “pipsqueak" and asks him, "How the f--- you big steppin’ with a size-seven men’s on?"

Drake also put down his old rival's music collaborations with pop artists. "Maroon 5 need a verse, you better make it witty/ Then we need a verse for the Swifties," he raps.

"Push Ups" notably sampled beats from The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 track “What’s Beef?”

April 30, 2024: Lamar releases 'Euphoria'

On April 30, Lamar released a furious six-minute track called "Euphoria," continuing his rift with Drake, who just happens to have served as an executive producer on the TV series “Euphoria,” according to IMDb.

Lamar, who’s won a Pulitzer Prize for his music, bashes the more commercially successful Drake on the track, rapping, “I make music that electrify ’em, you make music that pacify ’em.”

May 3, 2024: Lamar follows up with '6:16 in LA'

Days later, Lamar released “6:16 in LA” on his Instagram page . The song's title pokes fun at Drake’s time-and-location-themed songs, such as “6PM in New York," "9AM in Dallas,” and “4PM in Calabasas."

Lamar name-checks OVO, the independent music label owned by Drake, on the song.

"Have you ever thought that OVO was working for me?/ Fake bully, I hate bullies/ You must be a terrible person/ Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it," he raps as he continues to imply that key insiders at OVO are Team Lamar.

This song notably samples Al Green's “What a Wonderful Thing Love Is," which the soul singer seemingly acknowledged by tweeting out his original track on the same day of Lamar's track.

May 4, 2024: Drake responds with third diss track, 'Family Matters'

Drake responded to Lamar’s “6:16 in LA” diss track with a record called “Family Matters.” In his nearly eight-minute diss, which was accompanied by a music video that showed New Ho King Chinese restaurant Kendrick referenced on “Euphoria,” Drake takes shots at Kendrick’s relationship with his fiancée, Whitney Alford, alleging abuse and infidelity.

Drake also took verbal shots at other rappers he’s reportedly beefing with, including A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Metro Boomin, Future and Rick Ross.

May 4, 2024: Kendrick Lamar responds to Drake with scathing diss, 'Meet the Grahams'

Soon after Drake’s “Family Matters” arrived, Kendrick Lamar returned with a blistering response called “Meet the Grahams.”

In the 6 1/2-minute track, Lamar seemingly calls out Drake for being a deadbeat dad and alleges he’s hiding another child, a daughter, from the world.

He also takes shots at Drake’s family, alleged alcohol abuse, a gambling addiction and that the Toronto rapper used Ozempic for weight loss and had cosmetic surgery.

“Get some discipline, don’t cut them corners like your daddy did. F--- what Ozempic did. Don’t pay to play with them Brazilians, get a gym membership,” he raps.

May 4, 2024: Kendrick Lamar follows up 'Meet the Grahams' with ' Not Like Us'

Kendrick Lamar didn't wait for Drake to respond to his third diss track, "Meet the Grahams," opting to release a fourth targeted diss track at Drake with "Not Like Us.'

The track, which is currently the No. 2 trending video on YouTube, is a 4 1/2-minute verbal attack on the Toronto rapper, taking aim at his alleged predilection for young women and his recent legal drama with Tupac's estate after releasing his “Taylor Made Freestyle” diss track at Lamar, which featured an AI-generated Tupac voice.

On the track, Kendrick raps, “Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young/ You better not ever go to cell block one,” and later adds, “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles,” a nod to Drake’s 2021 album, “Certified Lover Boy,” that seemingly accuses the rapper of pedophilia.

Later in the song, which also challenges Drake's street credibility and reputation, Kendrick also takes Drake to task about his “Taylor Made Freestyle” diss track, rapping, "You think the Bay gon’ let you disrespect Pac, n----? I think that Oakland show gon’ be your last stop, n----.”

May 5, 2024: Drake drops 'The Heart Part 6'

Drake's newest diss track about Lamar shot to the top of the YouTube trending chart after its release on May 5. In the nearly 5 1/2-minute song, Drake denied Lamar's previous allegations of pedophilia and also alleged he made up information about having a secret 11-year-old daughter for Lamar to use in a song.

Lamar has yet to comment or release a response to "The Heart Part 6," but Drake rapped on the track he was waiting for words from Lamar.

"You know, at least your fans are gettin’ some raps out of you/ I’m happy I could motivate you/ Bring you back to the game," Drake said. "Just let me know when we’re gettin’ to the facts/ Everything in my s--- is facts/ I’m waitin’ on you to return the favor."

May 8, 2024: Seth Rogen reacts to the rappers' feud

Actor and comedian Seth Rogen weighed in on beef between the two rappers when he hosted " Seth Rogen Smokes the Bowl ," an event for his Alzheimer’s charity Hilarity For Charity.

While taking the mic , Rogen shared his thoughts about the ongoing feud between Drake and Lamar.

First, he said: “If you’re a rap fan, there’s some crazy sh-t going on right now.”

While updating the audience on what's been going on, Rogen joked that Lamar and Drake have been writing "mean rhymes about each other, which is an objectively funny way to fight with another person."

The comedian then said that Drake started to get "defensive" once Lamar called him a "bad father" and that Lamar dissed saying that the "In My Feelings" rapper should be a "registered sex offender" in one of his songs.

"That changed the tone of the whole conversation pretty dramatically," Rogen said. "Drake was caught off guard and then he started writing raps and his raps were, like, defensive now all of a sudden, which is a funny thing to hear."

"You don't hear defensive rapping that often. Rap is usually pretty aggressive. You don't hear rap that's like, I am a good father. I should not be registered. I would say as soon as you are asserting in a rap song that you should not be a registered sex offender, you've lost the rap battle," he said.

When is the UEFA Champions League final: What time, who is playing, where to watch, how to stream online

It's borussia dortmund vs. real madrid on june 1 at wembley stadium.

bvb-fcb.jpg

The 2023-24 UEFA Champions League final is set, and it will be Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid. The two finalists punched their tickets as Dortmund got rid of PSG and Real Madrid produced a controversial, late comeback to knock out Bayern Munich. They will now meet on Saturday, June 1, for the biggest prize in club soccer.

Dortmund, the most unlikely Champions League finalists since the competition was renamed UCL , according to our James Benge, got into the final by knocking out Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe in the semifinals. BVB won the first leg at home 1-0 and won the second in Paris by the same scoreline on Tuesday. Despite struggling to get into the top four in the Bundesliga, their form in Europe has been much better with Mats Hummels turning back the clock in defense, Gregor Kobel dominating in goal and Jadon Sancho reviving his career after his disastrous spell at Manchester United.

Real Madrid looked headed for a semifinal exit, down 1-0 to Bayern Munich in Spain in the second leg. But, l a Magia  of Real Madrid was ever-present. Joselu, a 34-year-old signing that nobody expected to ever see at Real Madrid, had the game of his life, coming off the bench to score in the 88th minute and the 91st minute. The second goal was initially called offside, but VAR determined that both he and assisted Antonio Rudiger were onside, allowing the play to stand.

That now sets up a massive final between two teams that have won the competition before. Dortmund have one title to their name, while Real Madrid are the kings of the competition, having won it 14 times and five times since 2013-14.

Here's when the UCL final will take place and how to watch:

Date: Saturday, June 1 | Time: 3 p.m. ET Location: Wembley Stadium -- London, England TV: CBS | Stream: Paramount+

Don't miss CBS Sports Golazo Network's Morning Footy, now in podcast form! Our crew brings you all the news, views, highlights and laughs you need to follow the Beautiful Game in every corner of the globe, every Monday-Friday all year long.

The Deeper Meanings Behind Kendrick’s Drake Diss “6:16 in LA”

Kendrick Lamar’s “6:16 in LA” is full of layers and double meanings. Here’s a full breakdown.

Kendrick Lamar warned Drake that he’d go “back to back” on “Euphoria” earlier this week, and now he made good on that promise with “6:16 in LA.”

Dot spends much of the song surgically picking apart Drake’s OVO crew, planting seeds that there is a rat among them. This angle is especially effective given how paranoid Drake already was before all of this (on songs like “Champagne Poetry,” he raps about how his “cleaning staff’s plotting extortion” on him).

The smooth flip of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” makes the track sound amazing even without the shots, but of course, Kendrick even found a way to hide a deeper meaning behind the sample itself, which has ties into Drake’s family (more on that below).

“6:16 in LA” is full of layered references and even more “ quintuple entendres,” so here’s a breakdown of all of the deeper meanings behind the track.

the weeknd tour june 2023

The title “6:16 in LA” has a lot of symbolism behind it. The most obvious interpretation is that Kendrick is using Drake’s long history of releasing songs with timestamp titles against him. But there’s more. Dot dropped the track at 6:16 a.m., and the numerology in “6:16” could represent at least five other meanings.

June 16 (6/16) is the date that Father's Day is celebrated in many countries, including the US and Canada. This might be Kendrick’s way of doubling down on bars he had on “Euphoria” about Drake being a deadbeat dad (“I got a son to raise, but I can see you don't know nothin' 'bout that”) as well as a possible reference to Drake having an absent father during his childhood.

June 16 is also Tupac’s birthday. Kendrick has a deep affinity for Pac and revealed that he took offense to Drake buying his million-dollar ring on “Euphoria.” And of course, Drake tried coming after Kendrick last month by using artificial intelligence to create a Tupac diss verse on “Taylor Made Freestyle.”

HBO’s Euphoria, executive-produced by Drake, aired its first episode on June 16, 2019. The show has been criticized for sexualizing teenaged female characters, and after naming his last song “Euphoria,” this could be Kendrick’s way of subtly commenting on the rumors of Drake’s odd history with underaged women.

OJ Simpson’s murder case began on June 16, 1995, and this reference could tie into the black leather glove on the song’s cover artwork (more on that below), which might be Kendrick’s way of implying that some of Drake’s own crimes will soon come to light.

Fans are also pointing to the Bible verse, Corinthians 6:16, which reads, “Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, ‘The two will become one flesh.’” This could be yet another jab at Drake’s tastes in women.

The cover art

the weeknd tour june 2023

The cover artwork features a black leather Maybach equestrian glove. The image immediately evokes the memory of the notorious black leather gloves that were used as evidence in OJ Simpson’s 1995 murder case. Under this interpretation, Dot could be implying that members of Drake’s team, like his right-hand man Chubbs (who Kendrick previously mentioned on “Euphoria”), have committed crimes and gotten away with it. The actual glove on the cover art is used for horse-riding, though, so it also could be a callback to Drake’s bar on “In The Morning” where he rapped, “I love thick women because my aunt, she rode equestrian.” To this day, nobody really knows what the hell he meant by that, and this image could be Kendrick’s way of calling back that unusual bar and making fun of Drake’s history with women.

The song is built around a sample of Al Green’s “What a Wonderful Thing Love Is,” which has direct ties to Drake’s family. Drake’s father’s cousin, Mabon “Teenie” Hodges, was a guitarist and songwriter for Al Green, and he’s credited for playing on this specific song. The track is also rumored to be co-produced by Taylor Swift’s frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff. If that’s true, then “6:16 in LA” would literally be a “Taylor made” song. Antonoff produces a lot of Swift’s music, so this could act as a response to Drake’s AI “Taylor Made Freestyle,” where he insinuated that Kendrick has to take orders from the pop singer. Because of all this, it’s uncertain whether the song will ever hit streaming services. Clearing an Al Green sample is difficult, especially when it’s attached to a family member of the guy you’re dissing. And it’s doubtful that Antonoff wants to officially throw himself in the middle of this rap war, especially since he more than likely produced this song for Kendrick before the beef broke out and didn’t know it would be used for a diss record. Still, this was a brilliant maneuver on Kendrick’s part.

Still, this was a brilliant maneuver on Kendrick’s part.

the weeknd tour june 2023

The bars on “6:16 in LA” seem to have one central goal: make Drake question everything. Throughout the song, Dot implies that there are snakes in Drake’s OVO camp, and he keeps the lyrics vague enough to leave the rapper suspicious of everyone around him, with bars like:

“Off-white Sunseeker at the marina/ Fuck a Phantom, I like to buy yachts when I get the fever/ Wine cooler spill on my white t-shirt, the sightseer/ Trifecta, money, morals, and culture, that's my leisure/ My visa, passport tatted, I show up in Ibiza”

In the song’s opening bars, Kendrick seemingly mocks Drake for constantly rapping about rich shit that normal people can’t relate to (like going “from the Vava to Cinquante-Cinq, then back to the Vava” ), but there could also be some hidden layers behind them. Drake recently purchased a new Rolls Royce Phantom , and this could be a double entendre, with Dot implying that he doesn’t have to move silently like a ghost (or in the same vehicle as Drake) and he’d rather make it very loud and clear that he’s pulling up on people. Cole and Drake also reunited in a Rolls Royce Ghost in 2019, which might have pissed Kendrick off. Drake also recently bought a yacht , so in the next line, Dot raps that he doesn’t need glamorous items because “money, morals, and culture” are enough to satisfy him, implying that Drake is filling these holes in his life with material possessions. Finally, Drake frequents Ibiza as a vacation spot, so Dot appears to be saying he’s not afraid to pull up on him anywhere.

"Conspiracies about Cash, dog? That's not even the leak/ Find the jewels like Kash Doll, I just need you to think/ Are you finally ready to play have-you-ever? Let's see/ Have you ever thought that OVO is workin' for me? Fake bully, I hate bullies, you must be a terrible person/ Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it”

Drake is already a very paranoid guy, with a habit of rapping about how he doesn’t trust people , so Kendrick instills even more distrust in him by insinuating that members of the OVO camp have been leaking information to him. This narrative was already established by The Weeknd on “All to Myself” when he sang about Drake having “leaks in his operation.” And on “6:16 in LA,” the “conspiracies about Cash” line might be Kendrick’s way of saying that Drake thought The Weeknd’s manager (Amir “Cash” Esmalian) was the one leaking information about him, which is why he sent shots at him on “Push Ups.” The “find the jewels like Kash Doll” line left everyone confused at first ( even Kash Doll herself ), but Dot might be referencing the time she was robbed of $500,000 worth of jewelry last year. Separately, there were also rumors that Kash Doll and Drake were dating a few years ago.

“ It was fun until you started to put money in the streets/ Then lost money 'cause they came back with no receipts/ I'm sorry that I live a boring life, I love peace/ But war-ready if the world is ready to see you bleed ”

Back in 2018, Pusha-T alluded to the fact that Drake offered $100,000 to whoever could give him ammunition to use against the Virginia rapper when they were beefing, and now Kendrick is implying that he’s trying to do the same thing this time. On “Euphoria,” Kendrick already made it clear that he won’t use these shady tactics in his own beefs, rapping, “Why would I call around tryna get dirt on niggas? Y'all think all my life is rap?” Now, Kendrick is using these bars to convince people that Drake is actually the one fighting on his back foot, desperately paying the streets to get dirt on his opponent.

“ A hundred niggas that you got on salary/ And twenty of 'em want you as a casualty/ And one of them is actually next to you/ And two of them is practically tired of your lifestyle/ Just don't got the audacity to tell you ”

Kendrick goes on to say that some members of Drake’s OVO crew have a deep disdain for him and that they’re actually closer to Dot than he might realize. Pusha-T already revealed that he found out Drake had a child through a woman who was pillow-talking with OVO producer Noah “40” Shebib, so it wouldn’t be that shocking if there were more leaks in the camp. The person “next to” Drake that Kendrick is referring to could be his right-hand man Chubbs, but there’s no way of telling for sure.

“ You're playin' nerdy with Zack Bia and Twitter bots/ But your reality can't hide behind wifi/ Your lil' memes is losin' steam, they figured you out / The forced opinions is not convincin', y'all need a new route/ It's time that you look around on who's around you/Before you figure that you're not alone, ask what Mike would do ”

First, Kendrick makes fun of Drake for aligning so closely with Zack Bia, a DJ and record executive who just opened up on the It's All A Blur Tour (here’s a full deep dive on Bia if you’re interested). Then Kendrick brings up the rumors that Drake uses Twitter bots to troll his opposition online, something that was happening to Pusha-T last year.  Kendrick hints that the memes Drake has been posting over the last few weeks aren’t working, before imploring The Boy to start investigating his own crew and find out who’s betraying him. Dot closes the diss by playing on Drake’s affinity for Michael Jackson, weaving his song “You Are Not Alone” into the bar and sarcastically telling Drake to put himself in the singer’s shoes now, since he thinks he’s “actually Michael Jackson.”
