Sports Travel Booking Resources

Traveling around the world to watch & experience sports, I tend to always use the same resources for booking trips. These are the ones I use most frequently and that I find to have great customer support and competitive prices.

  • Sports Event Tickets – Tickets for all sporting events
  • Get Your Guide – is an excellent site as a one-stop shop for booking attractions, local tours, activities, and excursions. Great customer service and an easy-to-use site.
  • Booking.com – The best site I have found for hotel and accommodation bookings.
  • Flights – are also now offered by booking.com and as I love the brand this is my first port of call now for flights.
  • Safety Wing Travel Insurance – I love Saftey Wing as they cover everything I need to be covered and they have a simple-to-use site, and again, I have found their customer service very good, when I needed to ask questions.
  • Hostelworld – Book backpacker hostel rooms around the world with Hostel World.

I am a West Ham supporter of Greek Origin, so when Olympiacos came to town last November, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase tickets and go and see the game. I purchased two tickets for me and my wife, paying a total of £ 152. Shortly afterwards, I got an email from West Ham to say that my tickets had been 'blocked' until I could prove that I am a West Ham fan. Not sure how you can prove that you are a fan of a particular club, they asked if I had a West Ham shirt or scarf. The answer was not to both, I am 70 years old and would not walk around with a West Ham shirt or scarf. As it turned out, the club told me that I would not be able to get admission to the game, although I had two valid tickets. I asked for a refund and was told that this was out of the question. So, I have paid £ 152 for nothing, I think it is fair to say that I have been cheated by West Ham United. Never again. Supporters please be aware how they treat you! Read more Written April 28, 2024

We were very pleased with the service received. The cars arrived on time, the drivers were polite and helpful, the cars were clean and comfortable. They even had water bottles and sweets. We booked an MPV for a family of 5 and were upgraded to a minibus. I used and was often disappointed with London private hires, so it was a Godsend moment to discover Tourope UK. It was such an interesting and amazing experience as a late Christmas present from my grandparents (whom my grandfather is a very big Arsenal fan). We did the Legend Tour with Perry Groves. We managed to touch the pitch, which is very rare. The tour took us though the dressing rooms, tunnel, dugouts, car park and even the very interesting and unique museum. • MMR19 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Terrific Stadium Tour We visited here in August '23 for our son's 12th Birthday. He and his older brother are big Arsenal Fans. My youngest has a Young Gunner membership so his tour was free of charge and he also received 10% off all purchases (except photos & personalisation on strips) in the official shop so a great bonus. No need to pre-book, just turned up having purchased tickets online in advance. Small queue which moved quickly. Self guided tour with Arsenal logo earphones which you take home. I'd pre purchased the guide book which was really nice quality and full of interesting facts. We were in the stadium for about 1.5 to 2 hours (quite a lot of this was spent in the shop!) and I have to say it was very interesting and impressive. We had access all areas except the press room as they were getting organised for a match the next day. I'm not really a football fan but having done other Stadium tours (UK & overseas) over the years this was by far the best. Unfortunately we didn't know there was a museum at the other side of the Stadium so we missed this - schoolboy error! Be prepared to spend a small fortune on coins, posters/Personalised photos and of course kit in the shop. Read more Written October 6, 2023

From having a pint in the birthplace of modern football to stadium tours and unique experiences, here's our roundup of great ways to celebrate English football.

The Freemasons Arms - the pub where the national sport began

Covent Garden, London

Football may be a global phenomenon nowadays, but the sport's roots can be traced back to this Victorian tavern just off of Covent Garden. The Freemasons Arms has been serving pints and great food since the 1800s and is noted as the place where the English Football Association sat down and laid out the rules of the sport that would grow to become a worldwide favourite. Pay tribute to this in the Freemasons Arms' downstairs bar, packed with football memorabilia and live match screenings.

It's important to remember that teams play home and away, so your favorite won’t play in London each week.

Wembley Stadium

England’s national soccer stadium.

best stadium tour in london

Wembley Stadium is the largest in the UK and worthy of its reputation as the home of soccer. Opened in 2007, this 90,000-seater stadium has hosted English international games, UEFA Champions’ League finals, FA Cup finals and exhibition games that have seen the world’s finest players take to the pitch. The walk from the overland station Wembley Stadium or the underground station Wembley Park has a special feel to it and there’s always a special energy in the build-up to the game. The famous arch that stretches over the stadium can be seen right across the city. Wembley also has a retractable roof that helps to ensure fixtures will take place even in bad weather.

If you want the best atmosphere, try to get a ticket behind the goals at either end. These neighborhoods are where the die-hard fans sit and get the chants going all around the ground. Families often choose the central stands level with the halfway line. Prices vary significantly at Wembley, with the cheapest tickets being in the third (and highest) level of the stand. Even if a game isn’t scheduled, you can take a 75-minute stadium tour, which takes you around the changing rooms, the Royal Box, and the trophy room.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Spurs’ state-of-the-art ground in north london.

best stadium tour in london

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one of the most impressive grounds in Europe, especially during evening games when the whole ground is lit up in a cool neon blue. For many years the team played at White Hart Lane but knocked this aging stadium down to build their current home, which opened in 2019. With a capacity of over 62,000, this ultramodern stadium is the largest club ground in London. It’s walking distance from White Hart Lane train station, which was also completely renovated at the same time as the soccer ground. It’s fully wheelchair accessible and has a host of cafés and restaurants nearby.

Pleasingly, The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has not copied many other modern stadiums and shunned the ‘bowl’ type design. Instead, it's designed in a more traditional style with 4 large stands on each side of the ground. For the best atmosphere, try to book a ticket in the North End – known locally as the Paxton End. Outside of match days, consider taking the innovative stadium tour that, thanks to a multimedia device, allows you to explore the extensive facilities at your own pace.

Emirates stadium, home of arsenal fc.

best stadium tour in london

Arsenal FC is one of London’s most successful teams and plays their home matches at the 60,000-capacity Emirates Stadium in Highbury, North London. The stadium opened in 2006, replacing the much smaller Highbury Stadium, where Arsenal had played for 93 years. Arsenal station on the Piccadilly Line is the closest subway station to The Emirates Stadium, but you can also take the Victoria Line to Highbury & Islington, which is around a 10-minute walk away and is far less crowded.

The Emirates Stadium is most atmospheric in the upper tiers behind the goal, especially the famous North Bank. For families, the lower tiers in the East and West stands are best. The seats are level with the pitch, which gives a great view of the action. If you want to visit the changing rooms and see the many, many trophies Arsenal has won in the past, you can take a self-guided tour of the stadium between 10 am and 5 pm on match days.

Stamford Bridge

Watch chelsea fc in swanky west london.

best stadium tour in london

Chelsea’s ground, Stamford Bridge, is in the borough of Fulham in West London. It’s been their home since the club was founded in 1877, although frequent renovations have ensured it’s one of the finest stadiums in the UK. On matchdays, the atmosphere in Stamford Bridge is full of energy with lots of chanting. If you want to be in among it, get a ticket in the lower level of the Matthew Harding Stand. For families, the East Stand is best.

Due to Chelsea’s incredible success in the 2000s, a stadium tour is now one of the best in the UK as they have won every domestic and European title, which you can view in the trophy room. You can reach Chelsea’s home ground from Fulham Broadway station on the District Line.

London Olympic Stadium

Built for the london olympics and now the home of west ham united.

best stadium tour in london

London Stadium was built as the centerpiece of the London 2012 Summer Olympics and is now the home of West Ham United FC. The oval-shaped stadium is surrounded by a fully gentrified area in East London, with plenty to explore before or after the match. The 60,000-seater ground is well designed with excellent views from every section of the ground. Wheelchair accessibility is also well thought out here. As this is a massive stadium for the size of the club, you can often buy tickets to watch a match on the day – this is not the case for the larger teams in the UK.

If you’re looking to join in the chants of the West Ham faithful, book a seat in the Billy Bonds Stand. Stadium tours take place throughout the week, which takes you through the stadium and explains interesting details about its construction. You can find the London Olympic Stadium next to Stratford station, which links to underground and overground train lines.

Craven Cottage

Fulham fc’s riverside ground since 1896.

best stadium tour in london

If you’re looking to combine sporting heritage with the excitement of a live soccer match, Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage is hard to beat. This comparatively ancient stadium in West London is on the north bank of the River Thames in swanky Fulham. The team has rarely been one of England’s big hitters, but following a take-over by Harrod’s owner Mohamed Al-Fayed, Fulham had a period of huge success and was propelled up the soccer leagues to become a renowned Premier League team.

What makes Craven Cottage so unique is the red brick used to build the stadium and the wooden seats still in use today. It’s gotten a traditional feel that’s completely different from the glass-and-steel construction of modern grounds. You can tour the ground on a soccer tour, which will give you a great understanding of the stadium and the history of the club. To reach Craven Cottage, take the Underground to Putney Bridge Station.

Charlton Athletics’ stadium close to London City Airport

best stadium tour in london

Charlton Athletic are a bit of a sleeping giant in East London. Considering the size of The Valley stadium – the ground has a capacity of 27,000 – it’s surprising the club hasn’t been in the Premier League since the 2006/7 season. Although eclipsed by many other teams in London, Charlton fans are a passionate bunch and The Valley is a vibrant place to watch some lower league English soccer. The tickets are also significantly cheaper than other London teams.

For atmosphere, book a ticket in the North Stand. This is the most modern area of the ground, with the best facilities. The best view is found in the upper West Stand. The South Stand is given to the away supporters and it looks quite outdated compared to the more modern stands on the other 3 sides of the pitch. Charlton overland train station sits a few minutes from the ground. It connects to London Bridge underground station on the Jubilee and Northern lines.

But where is the best Premier League stadium tour to visit based on value for money? Embracing football’s big data revolution, we’ve crunched the numbers to rank every Premier League ground’s stadium tour.

Based on several factors, including price, abundance of trophies and Google rating, SeatPick has found the answers and can now conclude which club offers the best value Premier League stadium tour.

The Top 10 Best Value Premier League Stadium Tours

We’re now going to explore the top 10 best value Premier League stadiums that promise to deliver an unforgettable experience for young and old.

1. The City Ground – Nottingham Forest – 8.3

City Ground Nottingham Stadium Tour review

Standout results:

Standard tour child price – £5.00 Cost per minute – £0.17

A rare sight at the top of the table, Nottingham Forest has won the title of the best value stadium tour in the Premier League. The two-time European Cup winners’ stadium comes out on top, as not only does it offer the least expensive child’s price, as well as the joint second cheapest adult price, it is also the joint longest tour in the league, lasting 90 minutes.

The tour, which is conducted by club ambassador and City legend John McGovern, involves being shown around the dressing rooms, and walking down the tunnel to the hallowed turf. Plus, supporters also get to explore the normally exclusive boardroom and illustrious trophy room.

2. Anfield – Liverpool – 6.9

Anfield Stadium Tour review

Number of trophies to see – 68 Cost per minute – £0.23

What more is there to say about Anfield? Scene of countless heroic comebacks, a personal playground to some of the game’s greatest ever players, and home of the Kop and its vociferous fans. On this occasion, Liverpool will have to settle for second place with a score of 6.9 out of 10. Anfield’s stand-out stadium tour features include their impressive stock of 68 trophies and a reasonable price of £23 for adult tickets.

Liverpool pulls out all of the stops for their stadium tour. It includes a trip up the recently built Main Stand for a bird’s eye view of the stadium, before venturing down pitch level for a trip to the home-team dressing room, and a walk under the ‘This is Anfield’ sign before venturing onto the pristine playing surface.

3. St. James’ Park – Newcastle United – 6.4

St James' Parl Stadium Tour review

Standout results:

Standard tour adult price – £20.00 Cost per minute – £0.22

Third on our list of best value Premier League stadium tours is St. James Park . The Magpies’ stadium tour is one of the most affordable, costing just £0.22 per minute. In addition to this, St. James Park received a 4.6 out of five rating on Google Review.

Newcastle United offer a range of different tours: their classic tour involves walking down the tunnel, sitting in your favourite player’s seat in the dressing room, and being shown around St. James Park by one of the club’s friendly and knowledgeable staff members. The club also has a rooftop tour where supporters can ascend 150 feet up the Leazes Stand and get a breathtaking view of the city. Other options include an autism-friendly tour and a private group tour.

4. Molineux Stadium – Wolverhampton Wanderers – 6.2

Molineux Stadium Tour Review

Standard tour adult price – £20.00 Average tour length (minutes) – 90

Home of Wolverhampton Wanderers , Molineux Stadium is fourth on our list. Built in 1889, Molineux has seen its fair share of classic moments, such as when Wolves became unofficial world champions after beating Hungarian champions Budapest Honved in 1954, or more recently when Wolves amassed 99 points in the Championship and secured their return back to the top-flight.

A stadium tour is the perfect way to celebrate the history of the black country club. Lasting the length of a full football match, the Molineux stadium tour also includes a trip to the unique Wolves museum.

5. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Tottenham Hotspur – 6.1

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Tour review

Number of trophies to see – 26 Car park on stadium tour – Free

A trip to Tottenham Hotspur’s stunningly futuristic stadium is an opportunity not to be missed. Already a scene of various iconic moments, including Harry Kane breaking Jimmy Greaves Tottenham goal-scoring record and Spurs reaching their first-ever Champions League final, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a marvel for football fans and architectural enthusiasts alike.

Alongside the standard stadium tour, Tottenham Hotspur also provide a matchday experience tour where fans gain access to the home team dressing room just hours before kick-off. Plus, there’s also the technical tour where, led by an expert tour guide, you’ll get to venture below the famous retracting football pitch and embark on the walk the sky bridge experience.

6= Turf Moor – Burnley – 6.0

Turf Moor Stadium Tour Review

Stadium tour adult price – £10.00 Cost per minute – £0.17

Burnley played their first game at Turf Moor . Since then, they’ve won First Division titles, dropped as low as the fourth tier, and then returned to the Premier League once again. Burnley deserve plaudits for offering the least expensive adult ticket, meaning that the tour in total costs just £0.17 per minute.

As part of the Turf Moor stadium tour, visitors congregate at the Bob Lord Main Stand before being shown around various luxury suites, and trophy rooms before ending with a visit to the dugout.

6= Villa Park – Aston Villa – 6.0

Villa Park Stadium Tour Review

Average Google review rating – 4.5 Cost per minute – £0.22

With a score of 6.0, Villa Park is seventh on our list. The home of the one-time European champions is an ideal destination for a Midlands stadium tour, as Aston Villa have plenty of trophies on display. And at just £0.22 per minute, it is one of the more reasonably priced stadium tours.

The Villa Park tour comes in three distinct categories. The weekday tour includes a guided tour with a Villa expert, photo opportunities and unlimited access. The weekend tour is the same but with the anticipation of kick-off thrown in. Plus, the club also put on a legend’s tour headed by former Villa stars Nigel Spink and Gary Shaw.

8. American Express Stadium – Brighton & Hove Albion – 5.8

American Express Stadium Tour review

Stadium tour child price – £7.50 Cost per minute – £0.17

The American Express Stadium finishes a respectable eighth on our list of best value Premier League stadium tours. For decades, Seagulls fans could only dream of having a stadium as bright and as modern as the Amex.

But with a state-of-the-art all-seater stadium and lengthy cup runs to boot, it’s never been a better time to be a Brighton fan.

Their non-matchday tour involves visiting all parts of the stadium, including the home dressing room, directors lounge, and the media conference suite.

9. Old Trafford – Manchester United – 5.2

Old Trafford Stadium Tour review

Number of trophies to see – 69 Tour length – 90 minutes

Christened by the great Sir Bobby Charlton as the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford will have to settle for ninth on our list. Despite expansions to the Etihad and Anfield, Old Trafford remains the largest stadium in the Premier League, with 74,000 expectant fans visiting the ground every matchday.

Given the size of the club, it is no surprise that a stadium tour around Old Trafford is one of the most expensive around. Their price of £28 for an adult tour is the joint third highest in the league.

The club promises a memorable tour with plenty of silverware on display, where fans can walk in the footsteps of their Manchester United heroes, plus fans get a complimentary trip to the Old Trafford museum thrown in.

10. Emirates Stadium – Arsenal – 4.0

Emirates Stadium Tour Review

Number of trophies – 32 Google review – 4.7

Scraping into the top ten is Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium . Built in 2006, an Emirates Stadium tour is the second most expensive in the Premier League, coming in at £30 per adult, but despite this, a tour around the ground is still worth it.

An Emirates Stadium tour includes access to the director’s box, diamond box, home and away dressing rooms, dug-outs and even the press box. Commentary on the tour is provided by former Arsenal greats Lee Dixon, Charlie George and Nigel Mitchell. Plus, fans receive free entry to the Arsenal museum and a free personalised tour certificate.

For an extra special stadium tour, Arsenal also provides a matchday stadium tour. And if you want to secure your tickets for a hotly anticipated fixture at the Emirates, where better to buy from than SeatPick, which has already been trusted by over 70 million sport and music fans alike.

Top Five Worst Value Premier League Stadium Tours

1. goodison park – everton – 2.2.

Goodison Park Stadium Tour Review

Worst categories:

Stadium tour adult price – £23.50 Tour length – 60 minutes

Sitting at the bottom of the table is Goodison Park , with a measly score of 2.2. Everton’s beloved home ground is let down by various factors. Its Google Review rating of 4.4 is the joint-third worst in the league. With the tour only lasting 60 minutes, no ground in the Premier League offers a shorter tour. Due to its contracted length, Toffees fans are paying £0.39 per minute.

Everton fans will hope that the tour around their much anticipated new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock will offer a more worthwhile experience.

2. Craven Cottage – Fulham – 2.6

Craven Cottage Stadium Tour Review

Stadium tour adult price – £25.00 Stadium tour child price – £20.00

Scenic and quaint, it may be a surprise that Craven Cottage sits in the relegation spot for best-value Premier League stadium tours. Craven Cottage is let down by a relatively costly £20 for a child stadium tour, a price which is three times higher than the City Ground .

In addition to this, Fulham ’s home doesn’t have much to offer in regards to silverware, having only won five trophies in their history. What’s more, the club doesn’t provide free parking.

3. London Stadium – West Ham United – 3.0

London Stadium Tour review

Stadium tour adult price – £22.00 Cost per minute – £0.37

West Ham ’s London Stadium sits third from bottom on our list of best value Premier League stadium tours. It took Hammers’ fans a good few years before they could adjust to life away from the Boleyn Ground and fall in love with the former Olympic Stadium — but after unforgettable European nights against Sevilla , Lyon and AZ Alkmaar , it’s fair to say the place is feeling a bit more like home.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about their stadium tour. Charging £22 for an adult, the stadium tour only lasts 60 minutes, and the club doesn’t even supply free parking.

4. Stamford Bridge – Chelsea FC – 3.1

Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour Review

Stadium tour adult price – £40.00 Cost per minute – £0.44

One thing catches the eye with Chelsea’s stadium tour: the price. Charging £40 for an adult ticket, this is 33% higher than the next most expensive. Their child’s price of £28 is more expensive than almost every other Premier League team’s adult price.

Chelsea ’s defence will be that they have plenty of silverware, having won 32 trophies, including two Champions League titles. Also, the Stamford Bridge tour is not bad for length, lasting at least 90 minutes.

5. Gtech Community Stadium – Brentford FC – 3.2

GTech Community Stadium Tour Review

Tour length – 60 minutes Number of trophies to see – 5

Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium is the fifth worst value Premier League stadium tour, receiving a score of just 3.2.

Between 1904 to 2020, the club had only one home, the charming, but ramshackle Griffin Park. Since moving stadiums, Brentford achieved promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, and in 2022-23 recorded their first-ever top-half finish.

Unfortunately, their stadium tour doesn’t match the quality of their team on the pitch. The club only offers an hour-long tour, and given that the Bees have only won five trophies in their 130-year-plus history, there isn’t much to see in the silverware department.

Stadium with the Cheapest Adult Tour Price

Stadium with the Cheapest Adult Tour Price

If you’re just after the cheapest adult stadium tour you can find, then Turf Moor is the ground to visit. Charging just £10 for an hour-long stadium tour, visitors to Turf Moor are paying 61% less per minute than visitors to Stamford Bridge .

Burnley has called Turf Moor home since 1883 and, in that time, have had their fair share of highs and lows. Their heyday came in the early 1960s when manager Harry Potts delivered the Clarets their first league title since before the Second World War.

Stadium with the Cheapest Child Tour Price

The City Ground Stadium Tour Price: Cheapest for Children

Charging just £5, the City Ground offers the least expensive child tour by a considerable margin. Brighton is the only other club in the division that can also proudly boast that their child’s price is under £10.

So if you have a footy-mad junior who just wants to feel closer to the game and to experience stepping onto a manicured Premier League pitch for the first time, a trip to the City Ground is the perfect place to go.

To make their first trip even more special, visit on matchday. SeatPick has tickets available for every Forest home game this season, so to give them a day of football action they’ll never forget, buy your tickets fast.

Best Stadium for Trophies

Best Stadium for Trophies

Old Trafford remains the best stadium for trophies in the Premier League — but only just. For many years, Anfield was the place to go for silverware following the dominant eras of Shankly, Paisley and Fagan. However, Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure in the Old Trafford dugout changed all that, with the Scotsman picking up 38 trophies to cement himself as one of the world’s greatest-ever managers.

Liverpool briefly took the lead on the trophy stakes after Jürgen Klopp’s Reds picked up six major trophies in three years. The two clubs were neck-and-neck before Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United were victorious in the 2023 League Cup final, inching their tally one ahead of Liverpool.

A Christmas-Themed Football Stadium Experience

With the most wonderful time just around the corner, Premier League clubs are pulling out all the stops to give their fans a memorable festive experience.

In the lead-up to Christmas, Liverpool are putting on a stadium tour with a yuletide slant. Included free of charge are festive activities on the concourse, as well as a football-themed treasure hunt.

Manchester City always like to put on a show at Christmas, and that’s not just on the pitch. For young City fans, there is a Santa’s Grotto as well as a snowman hunt around the stadium on non-match days.

Newcastle United aren’t holding back this Christmas either, with a range of events suitable for all the family. St. James Park doubles up as a cinema for screenings of festive classics such as The Polar Express, Home Alone and The Grinch. In addition to this, there is also a kid’s festive party, games, dancing, elves and even a visit from Father Christmas.

Methodology:

  • SeatPick sought to discover the best value stadium tour in the Premier League.
  • Tour prices, tour duration and parking information were collected on each Premier League team’s official website.
  • Please note, Sheffield United and A.F.C. Bournemouth have been excluded from the study due to limited tour price data available online.
  • All club honours and trophies were gathered using the Premier League club’s official website and Transfermarket.co.uk.
  • The cost per minute of each stadium tour was calculated by dividing the standard tour price ticket by the duration of the tour.
  • The highest weight ranking was given to cost per minute, followed by Google review to account for stadium quality, and the lowest weight has been awarded to the number of trophies as a proxy for football heritage on display.
  • Please note the list of honours that the teams have won, doesn’t necessarily mean they will all be visible during the tour.
  • Lastly, an index score out of a possible 10 was calculated to assess the best-value stadium tour. The higher the score, the better value the stadium tour is to visit.
  • All data was collected in November 2023 and is accurate as of then. The full dataset used throughout the study can be found here .

The Foo Fighters released their latest album, But Here We Are , last June — their first since Taylor Hawkins died in 2022. Drummer Josh Freese has since joined the band.

"It continues to be bittersweet," Freese told The Daily Star last month. "Part of me wants to say like I wish I wasn't there at all. I wish there wasn't a reason for me to be the drummer in Foo Fighters.

"I was friendly acquaintances with Taylor for like 25 years and then in the last five/six years we became a lot closer, which makes the whole thing even more odd," he added.

"After Taylor's passing, first thing I thought was how are these guys going to move on from this – Taylor was such an important component, on and off stage. And he wasn't just a drummer, you know. He was such a big personality. [I thought] 'Are they even going to go on...does Dave go solo now?'"

The beloved rock band will play stadiums in Manchester, Glasgow, London, Cardiff, and Birmingham.Andi K. Taylor
