Visa Waiver Program

Travel Without a Visa

Citizens of Canada and Bermuda

The Visa Waiver Program  (VWP) enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries *  to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. Travelers must have a valid  Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)  approval prior to travel and meet all requirements explained below. If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) visa.

Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015

Under the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015, travelers in the following categories must obtain a visa prior to traveling to the United States as they are no longer eligible to travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP):

  • Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes in the service of a VWP country).
  • Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Cuba on or after January 12, 2021 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes in the service of a VWP country).
  • Nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of Cuba, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria.

Requirements for Using the Visa Waiver Program (VWP)

You must meet  all  the following requirements to travel to the United States on the VWP:

Travel Purpose Must be Permitted on a Visitor (B) Visa

The following are examples of activities permitted while in the United States on the VWP. In addition, transiting through the United States to other countries is generally permitted for VWP travelers.

  • consult with business associates
  • attend a scientific, educational, professional, or business convention or conference
  • attend short-term training (you may not be paid by any source in the United States with the exception of expenses incidental to your stay)
  • negotiate a contract

  • vacation (holiday)
  • visit with friends or relatives
  • medical treatment
  • participation in social events hosted by fraternal, social, or service organizations
  • participation by amateurs in musical, sports, or similar events or contests, if not being paid for participating
  • enrollment in a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree (for example, a two-day cooking class while on vacation)

Travel Purposes Not Permitted on Visa Waiver Program – Examples:

  • study, for credit
  • work as foreign press, radio, film, journalists, or other information media
  • permanent residence in the United States

Must Be a Citizen or National of a VWP Designated Country *

You must be a citizen or national of the following countries *  to be eligible to travel to the United States under the VWP.

  • Czech Republic
  • Liechtenstein
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • South Korea
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom**

**To be eligible to travel under the VWP, British citizens must have the unrestricted right of permanent abode in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.

Each Traveler Must Have a Valid ESTA

In order to travel without a visa on the VWP, you must have valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to boarding a U.S. bound air or sea carrier. ESTA is a web-based system operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to determine eligibility to travel to the United States for tourism or business under the VWP. Visit the  ESTA webpage  on the CBP website for more information.

Updating Your ESTA

In most cases, your ESTA will be valid for two years.  You also must obtain a new ESTA if you: (1) receive a new passport, including an emergency or temporary passport; (2) change your name; (3) change your gender; (4) change your country of citizenship; or (5) need to change your responses to any of the “yes” or “no” questions on the ESTA application.

These individuals can apply for visas using regular appointment processes at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Consular sections overseas may be able to expedite your interview date if there is an urgent, unforseen situation such as a funeral, medical emergency, or school start date. For more information, please visit the website of the Embassy or Consulate Visa Section where you will interview.

If an individual who is exempt from the Act because of his or her diplomatic or military presence in one of the seven countries is denied ESTA, he or she may go to the  CBP website , or contact the  CBP information Center . The traveler may also apply for a nonimmigrant visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection strongly recommends that any traveler to the United States check his or her  ESTA status  prior to making any travel reservations or travelling to the United States. More information is available on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) website .

Have the Correct Type of Passport

You must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your planned departure from the United States (unless exempted by  country-specific agreements ). For families, each member of your family, including infants and children, must have a passport.

Sample Passport Image

In addition, you must have an e-passport to use the VWP. An e-passport is an enhanced secure passport with an embedded electronic chip. The chip can be scanned to match the identity of the traveler to the passport. E-Passports must be in compliance with standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). You can readily identify an e-passport, by a symbol on the cover. See the example below. More information about e-passports is available on the DHS website .

Passport with e-symbol

Emergency and Temporary Passports

If you use an   emergency or temporary passport to enter the United States on the VWP, the passport must be an e-passport. This includes VWP travelers who are transiting the United States.

More information on frequently asked questions about VWP can be found at the following websites:

  • DHS Visa Waiver Program Requirements
  • CBP Visa Waiver Program

May I apply for a visa instead of using the VWP?

Yes, you may apply for a visitor (B) visa if you prefer to do so or if you are not eligible for VWP travel. Additionally, you need to apply for a visa if you will be traveling on a private aircraft or other non-VWP approved air or sea carrier. Review the  approved carriers list . Also, if you intend to stay longer than 90 days, then you need to apply for a visa.

I was denied a visa under section 214(b). May I use the VWP?

A recent visa refusal for any reason could result in denial of ESTA authorization, additional review at the port of entry, or denial of admission to the United States. If you are uncertain if you qualify for VWP travel, you may apply for a visa.

Trips to Canada, Mexico, or nearby islands

If you are admitted to the United States under the VWP, you may take a short trip to Canada, Mexico, or a nearby island and generally be readmitted to the United States under the VWP for the remainder of the original 90 days granted upon your initial arrival in the United States. Therefore, the length of time of your total stay, including the short trip, must be 90 days or less. See the  CBP website . Citizens of VWP countries *  who reside in Mexico, Canada, or a nearby island are generally exempted from the requirement to show onward travel to another country *  when entering the United States. Learn more on the  CBP website .

How can a country* join the VWP?

A country *  must meet various requirements to be considered for designation in the Visa Waiver Program. Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • enhanced law enforcement and security-related data sharing with the United States;
  • issuing e-passports;
  • having a visitor (B) visa refusal rate of less than three percent (for initial designation);
  • timely reporting of both blank and issued lost and stolen passports; and
  • maintenance of high counterterrorism, law enforcement, border control, and document security standards.

Designation as a VWP country *  is at the discretion of the U.S. government. Meeting the objective requirements of the VWP does not guarantee a country *  will receive VWP designation.

Entering the United States

An approved ESTA allows you to travel to a U.S. port-of-entry (generally an airport) and request permission to enter the United States, but an approved ESTA does not guarantee entry into the United States. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials at the port-of-entry have authority to permit or deny admission to the United States. Learn more on the  CBP website .

Extending your stay

If you enter the United States under the Visa Waiver Program, you are not permitted to extend your stay in the United States beyond the initial admission period. You must depart the United States on or before the date on your admission stamp when you entered the United States. See Extend Your Stay on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website .

Change of status

If you enter the United States under the Visa Waiver Program, you are not permitted to change status in the United States. See  Change My Nonimmigrant Status  on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website.

What if I am traveling to Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands?

Citizens of Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and the United Kingdom do not need a visa or ESTA to visit both Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands because of the Guam-CNMI Visa Waiver Program, though they must complete Form I-736 prior to travel.  People's Republic of China Passport holders also do not need a visa if they complete Form I-736 for temporary admission into the Northern Mariana Islands. For more information on the Guam-CNMI Visa Waiver Program,  click here

* With respect to all references to “country” or “countries” on this page, it should be noted that the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, Pub. L. No. 96-8, Section 4(b)(1), provides that “[w]henever the laws of the United States refer or relate to foreign countries, nations, states, governments, or similar entities, such terms shall include and such laws shall apply with respect to Taiwan.” 22 U.S.C. § 3303(b)(1). Accordingly, all references to “country” or “countries” in the Visa Waiver Program authorizing legislation, Section 217 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. 1187, are read to include Taiwan. This is consistent with the United States’ one-China policy, under which the United States has maintained unofficial relations with Taiwan since 1979.

Tourist Card MX

Everything you need to know about fmm mexico.

Certain travelers must complete an FMM ( Forma Migratoria Multiple ) to enter Mexico. This travel document is often referred to as the Mexico tourist card.

This page provides you with everything you need to know about the FMM tourist card, including:

  • What the tourist card is
  • Who needs the FMM
  • How to complete the FMM
  • FAQs about the tourist card

What Is the Mexico Tourist Card or FMM?

The Forma Migratoria Multiple or Mexico tourist card is an immigration document that applies to certain international visitors entering the country .

mexico fmm tourist card

How the FMM card works

The FMM is a slip of paper separate from the traveler’s passport . It’s also a separate document to a Mexican visa, if required.

The physical tourist card consists of 2 parts . If validated at the border, one part is given to the visitor. The other remains in the records of Mexican authorities.

When Do I Need a Mexico Tourist Card?

The FMM tourist card is a required for specific travelers . Not all passengers entering Mexico need to meet this requirement.

If you’re traveling to Mexico from overseas and plan to enter the country by land , you must complete the FMM.

The tourist card policy applies to most people regardless of whether they travel to Mexico for tourism, business, or other reasons .

How to Apply for an FMM Tourist Card

You can apply for the Mexico tourist card online or at Mexican land borders , however most travelers choose to apply online in advance due to convenience and to save time.

The FMM online requirements are the same as those for travelers who apply in person.

To complete the tourist card, simply follow these steps:

  • Complete the form : Our online form has been designed to be as easy as possible to complete.
  • Submit documents : Submit your supporting documents in digital format.
  • Pay the FMM fee : Pay the fee by credit or debit card via a secure portal.
  • Receive the approved FMM : You’ll receive the approved FMM and all notifications and communications by email.

Information required on the FMM form for Mexico

We ask for the same information as the Mexico Government. This ensures that you provide all official required information when you complete the FMM application.

You just need to provide the following information:

  • Personal details : Name, date of birth, citizenship, parents’ details
  • Contact details : Telephone number, home address, email address
  • Passport information : Country, number, issue and expiry dates
  • Travel details : Purpose of the visit, intended port of entry, date of entry and exit, accommodation address

It’s extremely important to fill out all the form with accurate information . Incorrect or missing information may result in delays.

Application service differences

The Mexican Government also offers an online application option for the FMM. Below is an outline of the key differences between our platform and the Government’s.

Mexico FMM Costs

The standard cost of the Mexico tourist card is 38 USD . We then charge a processing fee for our services, which varies depending on any additional services you choose.

FMM fee exemption for short trips

If you’re planning on being in Mexico for 7 days or less , you do not need to pay the cost of the FMM card. Your final fee will just include our service charge.

Traveling to Mexico by air

You do not need to complete the FMM application process if you’re traveling by air. The fee is included in your plane tickets .

Entering Mexico With a Tourist Card

Once your FMM card is approved, you’ll need to print a paper copy to bring with you when you travel to Mexico.

Mexican immigration authorities will validate your documents when you arrive. Upon reaching the border, please present the officer with :

Note : Those who request the card in person must provide Mexican officials with the exact Mexico tourist card fee in cash upon arrival.

FAQs about the Mexico Tourist Card

Can i renew or extend a mexico tourist card.

No, you cannot renew or extend a Mexico tourist card . Once it expires, you need to apply for a new one and pay the relative fee again.

Once outside the country, you can request a new FMM immediately . You do not have to wait for a specific amount of time.

What happens if I overstay an FMM?

Overstaying a permit or visa is never a good idea. Overstayers with the FMM must pay a fine before they can leave Mexico . The fine is calculated according to the number of days that have passed since the Mexico tourist card has expired.

How much is the processing time for FMM tourist card?

If the application has been completed fully and correctly, you’ll have the approved FMM in minutes .

In some cases, the processing time may be longer. However, you can select the express processing option to get an FMM within 1 hour.

What can I do if I do not receive the FMM by email?

If you notice that the tourist card for Mexico takes longer than expected to arrive, please check your email spam/junk folder .

If you still cannot find an email from us, get in touch with our team.

What should I do if my Mexico tourist card is lost or stolen?

If the FMM document is lost or stolen, you must replace it. If this happens before you arrive at the Mexican border, you can use the online application system to obtain a replacement .

If this happens in Mexico itself, you should report the theft or loss to the police . You’ll need a police report as part of the replacement FMM application at Mexico’s National Institute of Immigration (INM).

Is losing a Mexico tourist card the same as losing a Mexico visa?

If you lose your Mexico tourist card, we highly recommended replacing the document as you would a Mexican visa. It’s required by all foreign nationals entering and leaving Mexico by land.

How long can I stay in Mexico for?

The Mexico tourist card is granted for a maximum of 180 days and cannot be extended. It also ceases to be valid once the holder leaves Mexico, as it’s a single-entry permit. If you decide to return to Mexico, you’ll need to obtain a new FMM.

The FMM is not necessary for those who decide to stay in the country long-term (more than 6 months). Therefore, people on permanent or temporary residency do not need a Mexico tourist card.

  • Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals

This webpage provides information to nationals of the Republic of India (Indian nationals) who wish to apply for pre-arrival registration through the online “Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals” (the online service) to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Indian nationals must apply for and successfully complete pre-arrival registration online before they can visit or transit the HKSAR visa-free.  Pre-arrival registration is not required for Indian nationals in direct transit by air and not leaving the airport transit area.  An Indian national can make use of the online service to apply for pre-arrival registration free of charge if he/she:

  • holds an Indian passport valid for at least six months; and
  • intends to visit or transit (except in direct transit by air and not leaving the airport transit area) the HKSAR for a stay not exceeding 14 days. Pre-arrival registration is not applicable to Indian nationals who have the right of abode or the right to land in the HKSAR, are on unconditional stay in the HKSAR or have a valid permission to remain in the HKSAR for employment, study or residence.

Subject to normal immigration requirements being met, the following categories of Indian nationals may visit the HKSAR without pre-arrival registration:

  • holders of a valid Indian diplomatic or official passport;
  • holders of United Nations Laissez Passer coming to the HKSAR or transiting the HKSAR to/from a third place for official United Nations business;
  • those who have successfully enrolled for e-Channel service for frequent visitors ( NOTE : Please click here for online enquiry of the validity of the enrolment for e-Channel service for frequent visitors and printing of the “Record of enrolment for e-Channel service for frequent visitors”.) Before boarding a conveyance (a ship, aircraft, vehicle or any other means whatsoever of travel or transport) bound for the HKSAR, an enrolee may present the “Record of enrolment for e-Channel service for frequent visitors” together with the specific and valid Indian passport which he/she has used for the enrolment to transport operators as proof of valid enrolment for e-Channel service for frequent visitors. Upon the expiry of the validity of the enrolment for e-Channel service for frequent visitors, or if the passport that is linked to the enrolment expires or becomes invalid for any reason, an enrolee’s eligibility for e-Channel service for frequent visitors will lapse immediately. In such circumstances, he/she must apply for and successfully complete pre-arrival registration before visiting the HKSAR again.);
  • holders of a valid HKSAR Travel Pass; and
  • those who have obtained a valid entry visa for the HKSAR.

Indian nationals who are a member of operating aircrew or operating seacrew on board vessels, or a contract seaman may also come to the HKSAR without pre-arrival registration, subject to normal immigration requirements being met.

An Indian national must apply for an appropriate visa to the Immigration Department if he/she:

  • intends to visit the HKSAR for a stay exceeding 14 days; or
  • intends to come to the HKSAR for a purpose other than visit (e.g. employment, study, or take up residence in the HKSAR).

The registrant should visit the designated GovHK website for pre-arrival registration. The registrant must truthfully enter the correct information. The information the registrant provides in the pre-arrival registration needs to be exactly the same as it appears in his/her Indian passport. After inputting the required information, the computer system will process the registration automatically. The registration result will be made known to the registrant instantly.

The successful registrant must print the “Notification Slip for Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals” (the notification slip) generated by the computer system on a sheet of blank A4 white paper.

The notification slip must be signed. The registrant must check the inputted data on the notification slip to confirm it is correct and exactly the same as it appears on the specific Indian passport that he/she has used to apply for pre-arrival registration successfully before signing the slip. The notification slip must be used in conjunction with the specific Indian passport that is linked to the pre-arrival registration. In case the registrant renews or replaces his/her Indian passport or changes his/her personal particulars after pre-arrival registration, the registrant must re-apply on the strength of the new passport or personal particulars. For a registrant who is under 16 years of age, either his/her parent or legal guardian must check the inputted data and sign the slip.

In case the pre-arrival registration cannot be completed, an Indian national must apply for an  entry visa to the Immigration Department if he/she intends to visit the HKSAR. Such applications must be submitted directly to the Immigration Department. Chinese diplomatic and consular missions will not accept visit visa applications from Indian nationals.

A pre-arrival registration is valid for six months. Subject to meeting normal immigration requirements, a registrant may, during the validity of the pre-arrival registration, use a valid notification slip together with the specific and valid Indian passport linked to the successful pre-arrival registration to make multiple visits to the HKSAR visa-free.  On each visit, a registrant may stay in the HKSAR for up to 14 days.

The registrant will be allowed to make a new registration only when the current registration has expired.

The registrant may check the validity of the registration through the “ Pre-arrival Registration Validity Enquiry ” function of the online service. Alternatively, the registrant may make use of the  Hong Kong Immigration Department Mobile App to conduct the validity check.

In case the notification slip is lost, defaced, damaged or not printed on a sheet of blank A4 white paper, the registrant is required to reprint the notification slip through the ” View/Print Registration Notification Slip ” function of the online service on his/her own. To use this function, the registrant is required to input the exact answer to the Identification Question selected during the registration process, failing which he/she will not be able to view or reprint the notification slip. The answer to the Identification Question CANNOT be reset. The registrant may save a copy of the notification slip in a secure location for future reference.

Before boarding a conveyance (a ship, aircraft, vehicle or any other means whatsoever of travel or transport) bound for the HKSAR, transport operators will check whether the registrant has a valid travel document. In this connection, before boarding and upon arrival immigration clearance in the HKSAR, the registrant must hold the notification slip, and the same and valid Indian passport that he/she has used to successfully apply for pre-arrival registration. Failure to present the said two documents will lead to refusal of his/her boarding a conveyance bound for the HKSAR and refusal of entry to the HKSAR upon arrival.

The issue of the notification slip is not a guarantee of the registrant’s entry to the HKSAR. The registrant is still subject to immigration control under the provisions of the Immigration Ordinance, Chapter 115, Laws of Hong Kong. In general, a person who intends to enter the HKSAR for visit must fulfil normal immigration requirements (such as holding a valid travel document with adequate returnability to his/her country of residence or citizenship; raise no security or criminal concerns to the HKSAR; have no likelihood of becoming a burden on the HKSAR, etc.), have a bona fide purpose of visit, have adequate funds to cover the duration of his/her stay without working and hold onward or return tickets (unless in transit to the Mainland of China or the Macao Special Administrative Region), before entry to the HKSAR may be granted.

If the registrant is granted permission to land in the HKSAR, he/she will be issued with a landing slip containing his/her name, Indian passport number and the conditions and limit of stay in the HKSAR.

A person admitted as a visitor in the HKSAR is not allowed to take any employment, whether paid or unpaid; establish or join in any business; or become a student at a school, university or other educational institution in the HKSAR.

When applying for pre-arrival registration, the registrant must truthfully enter the correct information.  The information the registrant provides in the pre-arrival registration needs to be exactly the same as it appears in his/her passport and he/she must use the same passport that is linked to it when visiting the HKSAR.   Failure to do so will render his/her pre-arrival registration invalid.  An invalid pre-arrival registration will lead to refusal of the registrant’s boarding of a conveyance (a ship, aircraft, vehicle or any other means whatsoever of travel or transport) bound for the HKSAR and refusal of entry to the HKSAR upon arrival.

Any person who knowingly and wilfully makes a statement or gives information which he/she knows to be false or does not believe to be true may be liable for prosecution under the Laws of Hong Kong.

AFFIDAVIT OF CONSENT AND SUPPORT (FREE SAMPLE)

AFFIDAVIT OF CONSENT AND SUPPORT (FREE SAMPLE)

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double-check with the concerned establishments for the latest updates.

When my sister and her husband decided to work abroad to provide for their family, they left their son and many of their affairs in my care. But before that, they made sure that the paperwork was done neatly. Because they planned on having their underage son visit them, one of the documents they left is an Affidavit of Consent and Support .

An Affidavit of Consent and Support is a document that proves and declares that the affiants, the parents in this case, are giving someone else consent to do something and guaranteeing (financial) support to carry out the action. Having this document allows me to travel with and make travel arrangements for my nephew (their son), including application for passport, visa, and DSWD travel clearance.

In the first few times that I applied for a DSWD Travel Clearance, I was never asked for this document. The staff would just look for a simple signed letter from the parents, no notarization needed. But it seems that this affidavit is already listed as a requirement. Many of those planning to apply for a DSWD travel clearance are confused about this document, so we decided to create a separate post about it. The top questions are: Where do we get this affidavit? What does it look like?

Well, here it is. Here’s a sample Affidavit of Consent and Support. You can also download a Microsoft Word (DOC) version below. Feel free to replace the highlighted text with your own information.

Download DOC File

What to do after.

  • If the affidavit is executed in the Philippines, it must be notarized. In one of my sister’s visits in the Philippines, she created one for her son with me as the companion and had it notarized while she was here.
  • If the affidavit is executed abroad, it must be authenticated at the Philippine Embassy in the country where it was executed. This is where they put a gold seal and red ribbon on the document.

REMINDER!!! The Affidavit of Consent and Support is an important and powerful document and concerns your children and who get to travel with them. Please take this document seriously. Consult a lawyer if you can. For parents, please only grant travel consent to people you trust.

I’m travelling with my youngest sister, 15 yrs old, next month to Hong Kong. She already has a passport and I was able to get a DSWD Clearance last Monday. Do I still have to get the Affidavit of Support and Consent as it might be ask in the Immigration or the DSWD Travel clearance is enough? Thank you.

Yosh Dimen

Hi Karissa, in my experience, DSWD Clearance lang ang pinapakita ko and yung hinihingi. But I always have a copy of this affidavit just in case.

Jacklyn Receno

Sir taga batangas dn kau? Yung niece ko kasi kasama namin magttravel sa japan soon, and she travelled with me multiple times n, do we still need the blue card?

Blue card meaning DSWD Clearance?

PB

Hello. Does it have to be from both parents? ‘Yung Ate ko kasi is in Qatar then ‘yung nephew ko (from my sister) babyahe kami to Japan without his parents. So it will take much effort getting one from Qatar.

Hi PB, I have tried applying for a DSWD Clearance using an Affidavit signed only by the mother 3 times now. Wala namang naging problem. I think okay lang if the parents are married. Pero if the parents are not married, dapat yung Affidavit is signed by the mother. I’m not sure ha. Best to call pa rin DSWD in your region. The office numbers are here: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2014/04/dswd-travel-clearance-minors-application-requirements-frequently-asked-questions/

Adeth ledesma

Hi good am po.. Old lng cia? O need ko ilagay n may ksama cia like mother or sister ko? If need ng guardian name nmn po sa affidavit pede poba s 1 affidavit 2 n silang naka indicate yung name ng mother and sister ko? Thank you po sna po me sumagot..

Hi Adeth. May 1 year and 2 years na validity ung DSWD clearance.

If alone sya, need nya ng certificate from airline and waiver yata.

JP

How many days do they release the travel clearance?

You’ll get it within the day if maaga ka. If late afternoon ka na nagapply, the next day na. More info here: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2014/04/dswd-travel-clearance-minors-application-requirements-frequently-asked-questions/

Hi, If the accompany person is closed friends.what is requirement.need pa rin ba ng personal appearance.kahit mother ang magprocess

You will need a DSWD Clearance kahit close friends pa kayo basta hindi kasama parents. More info here: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2014/04/dswd-travel-clearance-minors-application-requirements-frequently-asked-questions/

Hi, I’m travelling with my sister’s son (7 year old). My sister is working in HONGKONG, kailangan pa bang gagawa ng affidavit of consent galing sa sister ko?

You will need a DSWD Clearance. Best to have an Affidavit of consent to get that clearance: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2014/04/dswd-travel-clearance-minors-application-requirements-frequently-asked-questions/

Shinna

Hi! Would like to ask lang what if I’m still here abroad and I want to get my 2yr old son passport accompanied by my mother ? Is this the same format I’ll be needed? I’m planning to go travel with him when I get back to philippines this coming october ? Thank you ;)

Hi Shinna, yes, you can use this to apply for a DSWD Clearance.

Erika

Hi!

If wala silang kasamang parents, kailangan talaga ng DSWD Clearance. And you need the clearance to apply for a passport. Clearance muna before passport. We addressed that here: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2014/04/dswd-travel-clearance-minors-application-requirements-frequently-asked-questions/#Im_applying_for_a_DSWD_Clearance_a_visa_and_a_passport_for_the_child_What_should_I_work_on_first

Neslie Mangskau

Hello. Does the affidavit need red ribbon notary or can regular notary be good enough. I am in the USA and my American husband is traveling to bring my children back under K2 Visa.

Camille

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings of the day!

I would like to inquire regarding Travel Clearance for my daughter.

We are based in Dubai, UAE. I have a new born baby and having UAE Residence Visa.

We are planning to send her to philippines for a month vacation with my Auntie and Cousin this coming July 2018 without me or my husband.

I would like to know if it is required for her to travel with my Auntie and/or Cousin.

Please let me know the procedure.

Looking forward for your quick response.

Jen Valencia

Hi, my daughter will be traveling here in Dubai from PH with her daughter. What documents did you used?

Phamela Gil

Pwede kayang Affidavit of Consent lang? Thank you

Myra

Michael Rabino

If ikaw ang kasama ng bata paalis and ikaw yung mother, no need for DSWD clearance.

Rica

hi there, pano if yung companion, hindi naka indicate ung second name s SPA and Travel permit, Okay lng ba un s DSWD??

Andito ung contact numbers: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2014/04/dswd-travel-clearance-minors-application-requirements-frequently-asked-questions/

Jessica Sevilla

Good day! I’m currently in Abu Dhabi.

Hi Jessica, ang alam ko po, if for the purpose of passport application, need talaga ng Affidavit of Consent if hindi kasama ang parent pag-apply. Tapos need na authenticated by Philippine Embassy if executed abroad.

Pero di ko po sure. You can call DFA na lang po to confirm.

Ariel

We were travelling to Japan this nov 2018 as a family of 5 and my problem is me and my husband will be back after 3 days but my 3 children will stay 5 more days,do i need to prepare a dswd clearance since my younger daugther is 12 yrs old travelling with her sister 24yrs old and brother 21yrs?thanks in advance for your quick response.☺

Hi Ariel, I don’t know for sure. But based on experience, the DSWD clearance is only checked upon exit through PH Immigration. On the Japanese side, upon exit, they don’t really look for anything else other than your passport and visa. I think you don’t need a DSWD clearance since you’re with them upon PH exit. But best to call DSWD to be absolutely sure.

beverly samson

GOOD AFTERNOON PO.

Kahit father, no need.

Joshua

Hi, good day. Do we still need to get a clearance pag pauwi na sila from Singapore to Philippines kung ang daddy na lang nya ang kasama nyang uuwi? Thank you.

Hi!

Pwede kasing paghiwalayin ang Affidavit of Consent and Affidavit of Support.

Rosette Timola

Hi! Good day! Tanong ko lang panong process if yung mother is nasa Japan pero gusto mag travel ng anak sa ibang country. Need ko ba yung Affidavit of Consent and Support? If yes, pano yun nasa abroad din ang mother

Hi Rosette, yes, if minor, kailangan pa rin yung affidavit of consent for DSWD Clearance kahit nasa abroad ung mother.

Crizelle

Hi ask ko lang po may valid DSWD clearance pa baby ko, pero papalitan ko po yung companion nya which is father nya(not married) need po ba new application or Affidavit na lang? (if not , ano po kaya iba requirements) thank you

Hi Crizelle, according to one of our readers, pag change companion daw, need na ng bago. Call the DSWD Field Office na lang to be sure.

luz amante pacuribot

Thank you

Gwyn

Hello there.

Thanks for this post. It is really helpful.

I reside in Dubai and im going to meet my sister and 15 years old niece (my brother’s daughter) in Thailand and Cambodia. We are on the stage of securing the Travel Clearance from DSWD. Do you think if its ok if my sister in law will give consent to my my sister and myself? Also, it stated in the affidavit that the mother will shoulder the expenses- but its actually me who will pay for it. Will it cause trouble or we have to rewrite the Affidavit?

If kaya namang iprove na yung mother can support the trip financially, I don’t think magkakaproblem. Minsan they ask for ITR of sponsor/parents so make sure they have a copy of the mother’s ITR if sya ung idedeclare nyo na sasagot sa expenses.

Jil

Hi, my child is travelling with my best friend sa Hong Kong. I am going to meet them there. My question is, if I am going to make the affidavit, do I need to put my address here in Canada and have it notorized here ? or I can just signed it, send it by mail and they can have it notarize in PH.? thank u .

Hi Jil, I’m not that familiar with the process abroad, BUT as far as I know, if the affidavit is executed by a Pinoy abroad, it has to be authenticated by the embassy (with red ribbon).

Danah Abesamis

Hi po, ask ko lang kung kelangan pa ba isama yung dalawang Minor to get the DSWD clearance?

Hi Danah, sa experience ko po, di ko kasama ang mga bata when I applied for clearance. Basta complete lang ung requirements.

John Climaco

Good Afternoon.

Maria

Good day po! Ask ko lang po may daughter is traveling alone to US she is 17 years old may travel clerance na sya need p ba nya and notarized travel clearance?

Gail

Greetings! Magtatravel po ako to Malaysia with my 16 yrs old brother. Yung affidavit of support and consent from parents, is it okay send my email or do I need to provide the original from them. Kase they are based in NZ, so if ever they have a affidavit that was notarized by the phil embassy there. Do they need to send it by mail or pwede by email? Thank you.

Hi Gail, you’ll use it to get a DSWD clearance, right? Best to call the DSWD field office where you will apply. Their rules change every time I apply so better ask them directly to be sure.

Jenny

GEMARIE FONTANILLA

Hi, Thanks for this information! by the way, may mga clarifications lang ako, magtravel kasi kami ng parents ko at ng pamangkin to hongkong this year. Thanks!

Hi Gemarie,

Aside from the usual docs like return ticket and hotel, DSWD Clearance lang hinahanap sa akin usually. Pero there was a time na hinanapan pa rin ako ng Affidavit of Consent kahit na may clearance na. Buti na lang dala ko.

Jessa

Thank you!

Saan mo gagamitin? Immigration? Visa application?

Visa application po.

Best to call the designated travel agency kung saan mo ilo-lodge yung application mo kasi iba-iba sila minsan. Madalas guarantee letter from parents, sapat na.

JP Zosa

Would it be a ding if you didn’t indicate the specified destination country on your affidavit of consent? Though on the DSWD form as well as the online application you did put the destination country. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi JP, I’m not sure. I think it’s possible because PH’s San Francisco Consulate’s Affidavit of Consent sample doesn’t indicate a destination. See here: philippinessanfrancisco.org/uploads/Consular/SF/Affidavit-of-Consent.pdf

But again, I don’t know for sure.

MARIA NICOMEDES

HI! MY NEPHEW, 14 YEARS OLD NEPHEW IS TRAVELLING ALONE FROM PHILIPPINES TO DUBAI ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2019. DOES HE STILL NEED A TRAVEL CLEARANCE FROM DSWD EVEN IF HE IS A RESIDENT OF UNITED ARAB EMIRATES FROM HIS MOTHER’S VISA SPONSOR?

I’m not familiar with the intricacies of UAE residency so di ko masagot.

Japan Residence card lang pinapakita nya sa Immigration here in PH and in Japan.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2019 I MEAN. HE TRAVELED ALONE IN JULY 15 VIA CATHAY PACIFIC WITHOUT REQUIREMENTS.

LC

Is it ok if we don’t specify the country travelling to?

Raf

First off I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to detail everything needed. It’s been so helpful to me thus far! THANK YOU! TRULY AWESOME.

I hope I can ask you a few questions:

1) Do i keep the format the same?

2) I’m the biological father trying to secure the travel clearance for my daughter, and I will be the one financing the trip. Is it okay to remove the segment that says the mother is the one financing the trip and thus just making the document “AFFIDAVIT OF CONSENT”?

3) The mother has to have it notarised in Australia. What do I put in the sections with addresses? – UPPER LEFT: Do I put the city of her residence here in the Philippines? – MAIN PARAGRAPH: What we’ve done is we’ve stated her philippine address but specified that she’s currently residing in australia and specified that address too. – IN WITNESS…: This one I assume is pretty obvious this is the area of the Embassy she’ll be going to?

4) In #4 you stated “He will not violate”, are you referring to the child or the guardian?

1. I just followed the format that our lawyer gave us. I checked other samples from PH embassies online and they’re very similar too.

2. Yes, I think you can just make it Affidavit of Consent. :)

3. UPPER LEFT – I think, you have to enter the Embassy in Australia. You can check out a sample of a form to be executed abroad here: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2019/03/sample-invitation-letter-immigration-sample-visiting-relatives-friends-affidavit-support-guarantee/

4. I just checked the actual Affidavit of Consent that our lawyer drafted and it reads, “that said child will not violate.” So I think it’s the child that it should refer to. Sorry about that. haha

These are just what I think though. Not sure if these are right because I just followed the format that our lawyer provided, but that’s what I would do if I were in your shoes.

Thanks for the response, Yoshke! Again, so very helpful. Cheers!

kelvin

I’m a single father, abandoned by my Ex-girlfirend the mother of my son. I have no – so whatsoever contact with her for more that 2 years after she left us, and no plans or searching for her again.

Ask ko lang, if my idea ba kayo kung papano ako makaka process ng passport ng anak ko. Was planning to tour him abroad but I don’t know how to start it.

Just being frustrated – to be honest, its abit unfair sa side ng mga FATHERS na lahat na lang nakasalalay sa mother. Diba dapat my equal rights and both parents sa anak nila. Not all being abused are females.

I need hep/advice please.

Really sorry but I have no idea. The members of our Facebook Support Group might help so you can post your query there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thepoortraveler/

If you want to ask anonymously, let me know and I’ll post it myself. :)

Jenny Palma

Hi po! Do I need to secure affidavit of support po from my mom and sister?

Hi Jenny, most of the time, hindi na sya hinihingi lalo kung immediate family. Minsan ang hinihingi is proof na dun nga nakatira and may work doon ang mother mo. BUT BUT BUT according to an IO friend, best talaga na meron kang Affidavit of Support kasi hindi mo masasabi kung kelan yan biglang hihingin sa’yo.

Joshua

Question lang po.

1. how to get an affidavit of consent and support if the father is ofw in korea?

2. okay lang ba na ang kuya ko ay direct n pumunta sa Philippine Embassy and apply for an affidavit? or merong mga requirements needed from Philippines?

You can join and post your questions here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thepoortraveler/

Hi po. This is very helpful for us. Thank you so much for this document. My question is regarding the sponsoring and financial capability number 3 in the document, pwede po ba yun sa guardian? not sa mother. Kasi my niece is 17 and her mother (my sister) is hindi na nagpapakita since baby siya so i-forward ko lang yung edited document sakanya para pirmahan niya. Sorry mahaba. Hope to hear from you po.

Dani

Hello! I currently got a New Zealand visa and will travel with my fiance and family but I will meet my fiance in NZ na (US passport but he is Filipino). Bale I’m with his parents uwi muna sila here sa Philippines then will travel together to NZ they also have a US passport, also travelling with his Tita siya naman Philippine passport din. There are many IO horror stories na nababasa ko and I was wondering if I should make an AOS. Though I have traveled before in one Schengen country and Asian countries as well. I do have a business and I am already 35. I’m just confused kasi with the ongoing IO horror stories should I need to make one kaya?

Hi Dani! Is your fiancé or his family sponsoring your trip? Or ikaw din naman yung gagastos for yourself?

If ikaw naman gagastos, no need for AOS. If you’re sponsored, it’s always safer to have one.

Ill prepare one nalang siguro. Thank you so much!!

Paul John Plaza

Just want to ask, yang Affidavit of support and Consent. pwede ba yan if yung minor brother ko lang mag travel abroad?

If the minor is traveling abroad alone, need ng DSWD Clearance. And to get a DSWD Clearance, madalas hinihingi itong Affidavit of Consent.

Ren

Thank you so much! I have few questions.

Sa last paragraph (“subscribed…”), do I leave it blank before printing? 3. 4. One of their requirements din po is “Waiver to free DSWD-NCR from any liabilities”. Do you have a sample for this as well?

In the upper left, do I have to replace it with the Philippine Embassy and Macao if the document was signed and authenticated at Macao?

Chris Angel

Hi Yosh, Good day! Question lang po. Mag tatravel kami (My mom, dad, sister,21, and gf,23) to HK for a week and need pa rin ba namin ng Affidavit of Support and Consent? Although gusto rin namin gawin just in case lang. The expenses are shouldered by my parents, and if ever po ba pwede, okay lang po ba na nasa iisang doc na lahat ng names namin (me, my sister, and gf)? Thank you

They can be called naman by the IO na lumapit if may questions sila.

Drew Ramos

Im a 17 years old student po travelling with my grandparents as their guide, lahat po kami is first time traveler and unemployed.

Hi Drew, if you’re not traveling with either of your parents, you’ll need a DSWD Clearance. And you’ll need consent and support to get that.

Pedelyn Joy Gaum

Temporary public policy to facilitate work permits for prospective Provincial Nominee Program candidates

The department is focused on recalibrating the temporary resident to permanent resident ratio in Canada, including by supporting provinces and territories in transitioning eligible temporary residents via their Provincial Nominee Programs. Within the existing group of temporary residents in Canada, a plethora of strong Provincial Nominee Program candidates can be found. In their time as temporary residents, these workers have the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to establish themselves economically and develop community roots.

To reinforce the department’s priority of transitioning a greater portion of current temporary residents to permanent residency, the department proposes to facilitate access to open work permits to this population via a time-limited public policy. This population will be supported by their province or territory of residence as Provincial Nominee Program candidates, and will be issued letters to this effect by their respective province or territory. Skilled workers already filling critical labour market needs in Canada will be retained and provided a more certain pathway to permanent residence.

Public Policy Considerations

This public policy, pursuant to section 25.2 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (the Act), will allow eligible foreign nationals who hold an employment offer, a valid work permit or held a valid work permit which has expired as of May 7 th and a support letter from the province or territory they reside in, outlining their placement in an Expression of Interest pool or other application inventory process following an initial assessment of the candidate by the province/territory, to be issued an open work permit.

I hereby establish that there are sufficient public policy considerations that justify the granting, in accordance with section 25.2 of the Act, exemptions from the requirements of the Regulations listed below to foreign nationals who meet the conditions set out below.

Conditions (eligibility requirements)

Based on public policy considerations, delegated officers may grant to a foreign national an exemption from the requirements of the Regulations identified below if the foreign national meets the following conditions:

  • Holds a valid work permit;
  • Has submitted an application for a new work permit under section 200 of the Regulations; and
  • Issued by the Provincial or Territorial authority of the jurisdiction in which the foreign national resides, and that authority has signed a letter of intent with IRCC setting out its role in supporting facilitation under this public policy; and;
  • Outlining that the foreign national has been screened by the said Provincial or Territorial authority and has been placed in an Expression of Interest pool, or is in the Provincial or Territorial authority’s application inventory process for determining eligibility, under the Provincial Nominee Program; and
  • A letter of employment from the foreign national’s current employer; OR
  • Held a valid work permit on May 7, 2024 but that permit has since expired;
  • a new work permit under section 200 of the Regulations; and
  • an extension of their authorization to remain in Canada as a temporary resident under section 181 of the Regulations, or restoration of their temporary resident status under section 182 of the Regulations; and
  • A letter of employment from the foreign national’s current employer; or
  • Was authorized to work pursuant to paragraph 186 (u) of the Regulations on May 7, 2024, and their work permit extension application remains pending or was approved;
  • a new work permit under section 200 of the Regulations; and
  • an extension of their authorization to remain in Canada as a temporary resident under section 181 of the Regulations; and
  • A letter of employment from the foreign national’s current employer.

Provisions of the Regulations for which an exemption may be granted

For foreign nationals who meet the conditions listed in 1 and 3:

  • Paragraph 200(1)(c) of the Regulations - the eligibility requirements that a foreign national must meet in order to be issued a work permit under existing pathways;

For foreign nationals who meet the conditions listed in 2:

  • The requirement in section 182 – for a visitor, worker or student to apply for restoration within 90 days after losing temporary resident status;
  • The requirement in section 182 - for a visitor, worker or student to have complied with any other conditions imposed;
  • Paragraph 200(3)( e ) – the requirement that a work permit not be issued to a foreign national who has engaged in unauthorized work or study in Canada or has failed to comply with the conditions of a previous permit or authorization;

Other Admissibility and Selection Criteria

Foreign nationals eligible under this public policy are subject to all other legislative eligibility and admissibility requirements not exempted under this, or another, public policy.

Effective Date and Expiration

This public policy comes into effect on the date it is signed and applies to applications received on or after the coming into effect and to applications pending under the Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Foreign Nationals in Provincial and Territorial Expression of Interest Pools under the Provincial Nominee Program signed on June 26, 2024.

On coming into effect, this public policy revokes and replaces the Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Foreign Nationals in Provincial and Territorial Expression of Interest Pools under the Provincial Nominee Program signed on June 26, 2024.

This public policy will expire on December 31, 2024 and may be revoked at any time, without prior notice.
