For an offline permit, you can apply at least 3 to 4 weeks prior to the intended date of travel. This shall give enough time to the officials to verify the application, conduct an interview if required and process the permit. At times, the processing may even take longer.

Russia Tourist visa fees for citizens of India

Russian federation visa policy.

The visa policy of the Russian Federation covers the requirement for foreign nationals who wish to enter the country. According to the current policy, all visitors, with the exception of those from visa-exempt countries, must apply for visas and get them before they are permitted to travel to Russia, enter the country, and stay for some time. The visa exemptions are signed based on multilateral and bilateral agreements with other countries. Currently, Russia has active agreements with many countries whose citizens may either be able to apply for electronic visas or are completely exempted from holding visas if they are coming to stay for only a short period.

If your country is not on the visa exempt or electronic visa list, you must apply to a foreign mission abroad to land the visa.

Furthermore, as a foreign national in Russia, you are expected to comply with the rules and regulations while you are within their territory, including border and customs regulations. The authorities may deny entry, shorten your stay, or deport you if their laws are violated.

Russian Federation Visa Free Policy

Currently, there are over 60 countries whose citizens are not required to hold visas before entering Russia if they donā€™t wish to spend more days than is allowed under the visa waiver program. Apart from Belarus and South Ossetia citizens who may remain in Russia indefinitely, other visa-free visitors can only stay in Russia without visas for 90 days within 180 days. Tweaking the period by leaving and reentering the country is no longer accepted like it was in the past.

Visitors who violate the policy and overstay for up to 180 days are banned from future entry for three years. If they overstay up to 270, that attracts a five-year ban, and anything above 270 will be a 10-year ban.

Visa Free Countries

The Russian Federation has a visa free list of selected countries whose citizens can stay in Russia for different durations.  How long they stay depends on their nationality as determined by the visa policy of Russia.  While citizens of Belarus and South Ossetia may stay in Russia indefinitely, other eligible nationals can stay for 90 days, 60 days, 30 days and 14 days respectively.

Visa exempt visitors are free to enter as tourists, pursue their business interests or transit through a Russian airport to another country.  However, they are not allowed to work or study without obtaining a work study visa.

Russian e Visa

As part of the governmentā€™s drive to speed up visa application processing, the e-visa program was launched for selected foreign nationals. This visa is valid for 60 days from the issue date and allows the holder to stay in the country for up to 16 days. During their time in Russia, they can move within the Federation. Electronic visas are issued for the purpose of tourism, business, sporting, socio-political, cultural, and scientific events. Applicants are advised to apply for their e-visas no earlier than 40 days and later than 4 days before the day they plan to travel.

E-visa applications are processed up to four days from the submission date.

Key Information About Russian Federation e Visa

Here are some vital details about the electronic visa of Russia you should know about.

Not Extendable: The first thing you should bear in mind is that this electronic visa is not transferable from one visitor to another. The general rule is for each visitor to apply for their own electronic visa before entering the country. The same is the case for persons traveling with minors; they must apply for a visa on their behalf.

Application Fees: There is a processing fee attached to the process which must be paid using a credit or debit card. This fee is not refundable even if the visa is not issued.

Apply With The Same Passport: You must travel with the same electronic visa used for the application, not a different one. This is because the visa is electronically linked to the passport so traveling with a different passport will be tantamount to having no passport at all. Furthermore, the passport must have at least 6 months validity.

Only Valid For Approved Routes: This electronic visa is only valid for approved routes so endeavor to plan your itinerary properly. Transit visitors should also use only approved airports for their connecting flights.

Do Indian citizens need a Russia eVisa?

Yes, as an Indian citizen planning to visit Russia's incredible sights and cities, you'll need to get a Russia eVisa .

  • South Ossetia and Abkhazia : Residents of these regions can enter Russia without a visa.
  • Visa Waiver Agreements : Russia has bilateral agreements with some countries that allow for short visa-free visits, typically for up to 30 or 90 days. Countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Israel, South Korea, and Thailand benefit from these agreements.
  • Diplomatic or Official passport holders : Holders of diplomatic or service/official passports from certain countries can enter Russia without a visa for short stays.
  • Cruise passengers : Passengers arriving by cruise ship can stay in Russia for up to 72 hours without a visa, provided they sleep on the ship and are always accompanied by a tour operator.

Will Ukrainian President Zelenskyy visit India this year? Here's what his envoy said

Pm modi invited zelenskyy to india during his historic one-day trip to ukraine on august 23, following a visit to poland. the indian leader told zelenskyy that india was "never neutral" in the russia-ukraine war and was always "in favour of peace"..

PM Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv

"Prime Minister Modi kindly invited my president to visit India, and I'm hopeful it will happen. Maybe by the end of this year, we will be happy to see President Zelenskyy here, as it would mark another step forward in our bilateral relationship. It would also provide a great opportunity for the two leaders to spend more time discussing the peace-building process around the world," Polishchuk told news agency ANI.

However, the dates of Zelenskyy's visit would be decided according to mutual convenience, the Ukrainian envoy added. He said Zelenskyy was "very keen to visit India" as he never had been there and would find more time for discussions as PM Modi's visit to Kyiv was relatively short due to security reasons, amid the Russia-Ukraine war.

PM Modi's visit to Poland

Prime Minister Modi was on a day-long visit to Ukraine on August 23 which followed a trip to Poland. He became the first Indian PM to visit Ukraine since its independence. He met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv and offered to provide assistance in bringing peace to the region. He also promised that India would always stand with Ukraine for humanitarian assistance.

PM Modi noted that India did stay away from the war between Russia and Ukraine, but stressed that it was "never neutral" and was always "in favour of peace". India and Ukraine also signed four agreements on agriculture, food industry, medicine, culture and humanitarian assistance. PM Modi reiterated India's willingness to contribute in all possible ways to facilitate an early return of peace.

A joint statement issued after PM Modi's visit to Ukraine said that he and President Zelenskyy reiterated their readiness for further cooperation in upholding principles of international law, including the UN Charter, such as respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of states. They agreed on the desirability of closer bilateral dialogue in this regard.

Zelenskyy had expressed his gratitude for PM Modi's visit to Ukraine. "I am happy that PM Modi came to visit us and I believe this is very important...This is the first visit of the Prime Minister of India to Ukraine. We are ready on our part to take the respective steps. We've heard messages from the Indian side that they would be happy to welcome our team to India," he said.

Italy PM on India's role in Ukraine conflict

On Saturday (September 7), Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said India can play a vital role in finding a solution for the Russia-Ukraine conflict as she held talks with Zelenskyy. Reaffirming Italyā€™s unwavering support to Ukraine, Meloni said, ā€œItaly would never backtrack on its support for Ukraine. The decision was not just morally right but also in the national interest given it was aimed at safeguarding rules designed to protect a country's national integrity...China and India have a role to play in resolving the conflict.ā€

These remarks came after Russian President Vladimir Putin recently said he was in touch with India, Brazil, and China on the Ukraine conflict. "First of all, it is Chinese People's Republic, Brazil, and India -- I am in contact with my partners and I have no doubt that the leaders of these countries -- and we have relations of trust and confidence with one another -- will be really interested and provide a helping hand," he said.
