This Safari extension replaces YouTube’s video player with one that supports PiP and more [U]

Avatar for Chance Miller

It’s no secret that using YouTube in the browser on your iPhone or iPad is a rather unpleasant experience. And in many ways, YouTube’s “native” app isn’t much better. This is where a new Safari extension called “Vinegar” comes in to save the day.

Update December 4, 2021 : Vinegar has received a nice update today with a host of new features:

  • On videos (and devices) that support 4K, you should see 4K video options in the quality switcher toolbar.
  • For people with expensive data plans, you can also switch to 144p and 240p.
  • You can toggle Theater mode with the keyboard shortcut “T” or click the “Theater” text below the video.
  • Supports keyboard shortcuts like “J” to rewind, “K” to pause, and “L” to forward.
  • Videos should be playable if you’re signed in with YouTube Premium.
  • Videos should be added to your watching history if you’re signed in.
  • Fixed a bunch of 3rd-party website embeds.
  • Sound no longer plays when you go back to the homepage.
  • It should preserve timestamp when you switch video quality.
  • Timestamped URLs (i.e. URLs with &t=123) should now work.
  • Clicking the chapter links in the description should bring you to the correct time.
  • You can now select quality for live videos as well.
  • Privacy-wise, it’s “safer” because now it only has access to web content on youtube.com.

“Vinegar” is a Safari extension for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that was released earlier this month with the goal of replacing the YouTube player with a minimal HTML player (via Daring Fireball ). This is similar to the days of YouTube5, which was a similar Safari extension back in the days when the YouTube player was written in Adobe Flash.

Developed by Zhenyi Tan, Vinegar replaces the YouTube player in Safari with a native HTML video tag, bringing a host of associated improvements:

  • The removal of in-video ads.
  • Prevent YouTube from tracking your play/pause/seek activities.
  • Restore picture-in-picture functionality.
  • The videos don’t stop playing if you switch to another browser tab.
  • You can choose the audio-only stream to keep the music playing when Safari is in the background.

The app works just as you would expect it to, and it makes the experience of using YouTube in your browser significantly more enjoyable. It works both directly on YouTube’s website and on videos embedded on third-party websites.

You can download Vinegar from the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It’s a one-time universal purchase of $1.99.

Apple Is Missing Out on an Important Trend by Not Making a Foldable iPhone

How to wirelessly transfer files between windows, macos, linux, and mobile, iphone 16 plus vs. iphone 16 pro max: big phones, big decision.

Using YouTube in the Safari browser isn't the best experience. The YouTube app isn't much better, as it lacks some essential features. A new Safari extension called Vinegar replaces the YouTube player with a small HTML one.

Related: How to Turn On YouTube Picture-in-Picture for iPhone

The new extension is developed by And a Dinosaur (via Daring Fireball ), which also made a  Web Inspector , a developer console for Safari, a tool that redirects AMP pages called AMP Shockwave , and others . Basically, it replaces the default YouTube player in mobile Safari with its own player (similar to YouTube5).

This is important because it removes  in-video ads , prevents YouTube from tracking your play and pause activities, adds picture-in-picture functionality, keeps the videos playing if you switch to another tab , and lets you play an audio-only stream. Whether you're on the dedicated YouTube website or watching a video embedded in another site, these features work.

These features have been missing from YouTube on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, even though they were significant selling points of the operating system for other video apps.

Vinegar isn't a free extension, but thankfully it's just a one-time $1.99 payment to get it, so you won't need to deal with the subscriptions or in-app purchases that are all over so many other applications nowadays. If you've always wished YouTube had these critical functions on iPhone, then it's worth a look.

How to fix YouTube not working on iPhone or iPad

YouTube not working? In this troubleshooting guide, we’ll go over all the solutions to fix YouTube videos not playing on your iPhone or iPad.

How to fix YouTube not working on iPhone or iPad

YouTube can stop working because of network issues on your end, low storage on your iPhone, bugs in the official YouTube app, or a YouTube outage in your area. The solutions below should fix the issue and help you go back to enjoying your favorite music, tech, or cat videos.

1. Make sure you are connected to the internet

Your internet connection is the first thing to check when YouTube isn’t working on your device. Simply open Safari and visit any webpage. If it loads, that’s good news. If not, see this guide to fix Wi-Fi issues on your iPhone . If you are using cellular data or metered Wi-Fi, ensure you have sufficient data allowance for the day or month.

2. Make sure cellular data for YouTube is switched on

Open iPhone Settings and tap Cellular . Now scroll down and make sure the toggle next to YouTube is green.

Cellular Data enabled for YouTube in iPhone settings

3. Toggle Airplane Mode on and off

When you put your iPhone in Airplane Mode, it disconnects all radio connections like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Cellular, thus fixing network issues. You can enable and disable Airplane Mode from Control Center by tapping the plane icon. Alternatively, you may open Settings and turn on Airplane Mode . After 15 seconds, tap the same switch to turn it off.

4. Check if YouTube is down

It’s possible that the fault is not on your end but rather YouTube’s. And just like you, several other people may be facing similar issues of YouTube not working on their smartphones and computers.

To check, perform a web search for “ Is YouTube down in [your region name] .” From the search results, click one of the options like downdetector.com or downforeveryoneorjustme.com . From here, you can know if other people are facing this or not. If yes, wait for a while until YouTube addresses this problem.

You may also reach out to @TeamYouTube on X (Twitter) or check their recent posts for an update.

5. Turn off your VPN

In rare situations, YouTube may not work correctly, or some region-specific videos might not play when connected to a VPN. To fix this, open the VPN app on your iPhone and turn it off.

Similarly, if you are using Apple’s Private Relay , consider turning it off and see if YouTube loads now or not.

Note: Do not turn off the VPN if YouTube is banned in your area and you use a VPN to circumvent this restriction. Follow the remaining solutions below.

6. Change the YouTube video quality

YouTube may show the loading screen or refuse to work if your Internet speed drops significantly. To address this, choose a lower video quality , like 360p

7. Replay the YouTube video

On some occasions, the video may get stuck on the loading or buffering screen and not play at all. Simply close the video and play it again.

8. Force quit the YouTube app and reopen it

Enter App Switcher and drag the YouTube card all the way up to force close it . After 15 seconds, open YouTube again, and it should work.

9. Restart your iPhone and Wi-Fi Router

When apps do not work correctly or crash, one easy way to fix these issues is to turn off your iPhone and turn it back on .

Similarly, switching off your Wi-Fi router using its main wall switch and switching it back on after a few seconds will help fix the network issues.

10. Use a different browser

If you’re using YouTube in some other browser like Aloha, Brave, Firefox, etc., consider switching to Safari or Chrome. On rare occasions, YouTube does not work properly for me on Firefox on my Mac. But when I switch to Chrome, it works flawlessly. You may also try this trick on your iPhone or iPad.

11. Clear Safari or other browser data

If YouTube is not working in your iPhone browser, consider clearing the browser data .

12. Use YouTube in the official app instead of other apps like WhatsApp

When you receive YouTube links inside apps like WhatsApp, it tries to play the video in that app and not in the YouTube app or browser. In some instances, this may not work, or playing videos might take a lot of time. To fix this, tap the link once again to open it inside the YouTube app. You may also copy the link and open it in a browser.

Play YouTube in official app instead of third-party app like WhatsApp

13. Update the YouTube app

If YouTube is not working on your iPhone because of a bug, updating the app should fix the issue.

Update YouTube app from iOS App Store

14. Uninstall YouTube and reinstall it

If updating the app did not fix the problem, try deleting the YouTube app and reinstalling it. Note: This will also remove all the YouTube videos you have saved offline.

15. Try YouTube’s Incognito mode

In case YouTube does not work normally, try using it in Incognito mode . This is similar to Incognito mode on Chrome . Note that you cannot see your YouTube subscriptions in Incognito mode.

Turn on Incognito in YouTube app on iPhone

16. Sign out of YouTube account and sign in again

On rare occasions, logging out and logging back in may help fix the issue. Plus, if you have changed the Google account password and cannot see your subscriptions, re-authenticating is the answer.

Open YouTube and tap You > Switch account >  Use YouTube signed out . Next, restart your iPhone and go back to the YouTube app. Then tap You and sign in to YouTube.

Use YouTube signed out on iPhone

17. Free space on your iPhone to prevent the YouTube app from crashing

If you have just a few MBs of free space on your iPhone, YouTube, and other apps may crash or quit randomly. Get rid of unnecessary apps and files on your iPhone to make space .

18. Switch location inside YouTube

If some videos are not playing, you may try changing the location to see if it brings any luck. Go to YouTube  Settings > General > Locations and choose a different country.

Change Location in YouTube app

19. Unblock YouTube in Screen Time settings

Did you know that it is easy to block YouTube on iPhone and iPad ? If this is the case, your guardian (or the person who set this restriction) can unblock YouTube by going to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions .

20. Update your iPhone

If you are on a very old version of iOS, consider updating your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update . This will ensure that third-party apps like YouTube work perfectly on the device.

21. Reset iPhone Network Settings

Finally, if none of the above solutions help, and if YouTube is not down in your region, resetting all network settings can fix this problem.

Troubleshooting, how to use youtube’s video quality settings on iphone & ipad.

How to Use YouTube's New Video Quality Settings on iPhone & iPad

Do you watch a lot of YouTube videos on your iPhone and iPad? If you’re someone who likes to fiddle around with the video quality settings rather than sticking to the one that’s automatically set by YouTube, you may have noticed that things have changed in the YouTube app on iPhone and iPad.

The YouTube app has received some updates to its user interface and the service now offers a wider variety of video resolution options. Until now, when you accessed your video quality settings, you were able to quickly select from a bunch of available resolutions. That’s not the case anymore, since YouTube has added some basic video quality settings to the mix and moved the resolutions to a separate section altogether.

How to Use YouTube Video Quality Settings on iPhone & iPad

First and foremost, to see all the new changes, make sure you’ve installed the latest version of the YouTube app on your iPhone and iPad. Once done, follow the steps below:

How to Use YouTube's New Video Quality Settings on iPhone & iPad

There you go. Now you know how to make proper use of YouTube’s new video quality settings on your iOS/iPadOS device.

We assume YouTube made this change to help new users who’re not familiar with the various resolutions pick a desirable video quality while watching their videos. It’s worth pointing out that choosing the Higher picture quality option does not set the highest available resolution for video playback most of the time. The same goes for the Data saver mode which does not set the lowest possible resolution.

If you’re someone who uses the Auto setting, this change wouldn’t bother you. But, if you’re someone who always makes sure you’re on the highest possible resolution or even a low resolution to save data, you may be disappointed with this change since you need to go through an extra step to adjust the video quality.

Of course, we were focusing on the iOS and iPadOS versions of the YouTube app in this particular article. But, you can follow these exact steps to adjust the video quality settings in the YouTube app for Android devices too.

We hope you were able to familiarize yourself with YouTube’s updated video quality settings and preferences on your iPhone and iPad. What are your overall thoughts on the new changes? How can YouTube improve it? Do share your personal opinions and feel free to leave your valuable feedback in the comments section down below.

Hello, I really enjoy your daily tips and would like to ask if it’s possible you could explain how to download clips from either Twitter or YouTube? I’ve tried looking on Google but end up becoming quite confused as I’m not very IT confident and quite naive to some of the expressions used. I would add that I am a senior citizen who has never had to work with computers so I am taking baby steps in aquiring knowledge. Many thanks in appreciation Kindest regards Ken

Set YouTube to Always Play in High Quality on iPhone and Android

Set YouTube app to stream in high quality

We will show you how you can set the YouTube app on your iPhone or Android device to play video in high quality on Wi-Fi and cellular.

Tired of Pixelated, Low Quality Video Streaming on YouTube? Set the App to Play in High Quality Every Single Time

For quite a while now, the YouTube app uses adaptive bitrate to make sure that you save as much data as possible while getting the best possible video quality, depending on your internet connection conditions. In most cases, you end up seeing a pixelated video, something that can be extremely frustrating if you're all about that 4K life.

Related Story Apple Updates Its M3 MacBook Air Marketing Material, Claims It Is Up To 40 Percent Faster Than Copilot+ PCs Featuring The Snapdragon X Elite

Thankfully, you can turn off the adaptive bitrate feature and set the YouTube app to always play the video in high quality whether you're on Wi-Fi or cellular. It's a simple option hidden away in YouTube settings, and getting to it is super easy as well.

Note: We will not recommend toying around with these settings at all if you have an extremely limited data or Wi-Fi plan. If you still want to go ahead with it, it's entirely your call.

Step 1. Launch the YouTube app.

Step 2. Tap on your profile image on the top right hand corner.

Step 3. Now tap on Settings .

youtube ios safari quality

Step 4. Now tap on Video quality preferences .

youtube ios safari quality

Step 5. You'll see two options here and both are set to Auto by default. If you want the YouTube app to show you higher quality video on cellular or Wi-Fi, select the Higher picture quality option.

youtube ios safari quality

From now on, whenever you stream a video on YouTube it will simply go ahead with the highest video quality available for streaming. Remember one thing, if you have an extremely slow internet connection, then the app might still struggle to take you beyond 1080p and you will end up seeing some buffering moments. But we're sure you knew that already.

You still have the option to force YouTube to play in the highest possible quality here. Simply tap on the video you're currently playing, then select the three dots on the top right hand corner, then tap on Quality , then Advanced and select the highest possible resolution from here.

youtube ios safari quality

Again, we can't emphasize on this enough - this will eat away your data at a very fast pace. If you are the sort of person who doesn't care about pixels on the display, then it's best to leave everything at automatic and let the YouTube app decide what is best for you.

Trust me when I say this, the automatic method ends up offering the best possible experience without breaking through your data allowance.

Safari extension “Vinegar” replaces YouTube player with HTML5 based player to remove bloat

Safari extensions allow users to personalize their web browsing experience on Mac, iPhone, and iPad. App Store offers several extensions to alleviate that web browsing via Apple’s native browser. A Safari extension for YouTube “Vinegar” is updated with new features and improvements to make video streaming more enjoyable.

Vinegar allows users to stream videos on YouTube ad-free, offers Picture-in-Picture mode, and prevents the platform from tracking users’ play, pause, and seek activities. YouTube videos continue to play, even when the user switches to another browser tab and can choose the audio-only steel to play music when Safari is in the background. The developer says that like the YouTube5, the new Vinegar Safari extension fixes several issues with the YouTube player.

now the YouTube player situation has gotten bad enough that we need another extension to fix it. That’s where Vinegar comes in. Vinegar also replaces the YouTube player (written in who-knows-what) with a minimal HTML <video>  tag.

Vinegar- Safari extension

Download Vinegar, Safari extension, to alleviate video streaming experience on YouTube

Developers usually offer more features in their mobile apps than on their web apps. Similarly, the web version of YouTube also comes with limitations. But the latest update of Vinegar brings new capabilities for users to enjoy the mobile features on the web. The release notes read:

  • Toggle video autoplay on youtube.com (Vinegar will never autoplay embedded videos on other websites).
  • Show/hide the quality switcher toolbar on youtube.com (the toolbar will always be hidden on other websites).
  • Change the preferred video quality (in case you hide the toolbar).
  • Change the language of auto-translated subtitles.

Vinegar- Safari extension

Vinegar, Safari extension is available for $1.99 on the App Store and it comes with no in-app purchases, ads, and tracking. “It’s a universal purchase so you only have to buy it once to use it on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.” It requires iOS 15.0 or later and macOS 11.0 or later, respectively.

Low quality Youtube-videos in Safari

Since the introduction of iOS 7 the quality of YT-videos which are embedded in a website I'm viewing with Safari is very poor (to say the least).

Even when I know for certain the video is available on YT in e.g. 1080p, Safari still only shows it in -I guess- 144 or 240p... And there is NO way to change the settings! (Believe me, I've tried!)

In the YT app the same video plays flawlessly in 1080p, and in previous iOS versions this never was a problem (play the embedded video, switch it to full screen and presto: HQ video at my disposal). I've tried this so far on an iPad 2 3G 16 GB with iOS 7.0.4, an iPhone 5S 16 GB, an iPhone 5S 32 GB, an iPad mini 16 GB and all the iPads (iPad Air I believe and some iPad mini retina's) in my local Apple Premium Reseller and all showed the same behaviour.

Embedded videos from e.g. Vimeo are shown in a nice HQ/HD quality, and the YouTube app also works flawlessly, so why (WHY!) is this a problem?? Is it Safari? Is it a (hidden) setting? Am I doing something wrong (can't imagine that I am!)? Or is it a bug in iOS 7?

I'm really looking forward to an official Apple response on this matter!

Just got my iPad recently and have been very annoyed by the low quality embedded YouTube video in Safari, but I think I found a trick!

1. In a Safari tab, go to YouTube.com

2. Click the Safari “share button”; on the bottom roll (with “add bookmark” “add favorites” etc), find the option to “request desktop site” (now the tab should start using the YouTube player, see note)

3. Go to the website with the embedded video, you should be able to select video quality using the YouTube player. You can do that in any website as long as you are in this tab. (The selectable quality seems to be limited to 720p, unless “auto” decided to go with higher resolution (1080p etc).)

One caveat is that “full screen” is not available, so hopefully you can zoom the web page (may be some quality loss here).

The YouTube website has a mobile version and a desktop version. By default, the mobile version is used in iPad Safari. You can go from the mobile version to the desktop version by using the “three dots” button on the top right of the mobile YouTube web page; the desktop version has a prompt that let you go back to the mobile version.

The mobile version actually has the YouTube player minus volume control, while the desktop version uses the iOS embedded player like any other website. Selecting “request desktop site” on the mobile version actually breaks the video playback of the mobile version; Safari would say “Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid.” (Other websites are fine though, so you can do step 2 above on any version of YouTube.) When you do “request desktop site” on the desktop version, you will get the proper YouTube player; this will also remove the “back to mobile” prompt. Now I don’t know why directly “request desktop site” on the website with embedded video will not load the YouTube player, but Apple.

Youtube will auto decides best quality for you.

Is this story based on WIFI or on mobile internet?

If it's WIFI then my suggestion would be to click on the below right side "toothed wheel" there you can alternate the quality. Never had a problem here by the way.

Also you could download google chrome for ipad and check if this issue occurs in Chrome or not.

Please let us know

Jan 26, 2014 8:36 AM in response to MR_ES

It both happens on WiFi and 3G/4G connections. I have an Airport Extreme 5th gen. router which connects with my iOS devices (preferably through the 5GHz network, but also 2,4GHz if necessary). I also have an 50 Mbit/s FttH connection which works perfectly. In speedtests online I always get around 45-50 Mbit for up- and download, so the internetspeed isn't the problem here.

It doesn't happen when I use Chrome on the iPad, nor any other browser.

And there is no "toothed wheel" when viewing embedded YT-videos on Safari... there never was.

Jan 28, 2014 2:14 AM in response to cwoelders

Correction: it ALSO happens in Chrome and other browsers...

But I got a tip from an Apple-related-news site that the problem doesn't exist in iOS 7.1 beta 4. Can anyone confirm this?

To find the toothed wheel tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the video then tap the the toothed wheel.

Jan 29, 2014 11:10 AM in response to bobseufert

Yes, I know that but as I already said; there is NO way I can change the settings with embedded videos.

Jan 29, 2014 12:01 PM in response to cwoelders

And as I already said tap the three dots, tap the toothed wheel, tap the setting you want. When you tap on an embedded link you're not in Safari anymore, you're in the YouTube app.

Jan 29, 2014 12:11 PM in response to bobseufert

There are no 3 dots with embedded videos!!! It's not about embedded links, it's about embedded videos. Please check the website: www.motormeuk.nl/archief/soort/filmpje , you'll see what I mean.

Jan 29, 2014 1:24 PM in response to cwoelders

Thank you for the website. You're right, no three dots on embedded videos.

Mar 10, 2014 8:56 PM in response to cwoelders

Still exists in iOS 7.1.

Mar 11, 2014 2:21 AM in response to Sybok

Indeed, I updated yesterday and checked this today. No change i.r.t. 7.0.x, so the problem isn't fixed. The tip I got from the website suggested it would be (and actually WAS in the beta version(s) of 7.1!) but it isn't.

Come on Apple!?! Why did you make this change i.r.t. iOS 6.x and why not change it back? The quality of some videos is now horrible! Quality doesn't just have to do with resolution, but also with compression quality, sound quality and visual artifacts!!

Heh, another MF user here. And yeah especially on motormeuk it's annoying as **** that you can't watch decent videos, even if you are on wifi. Same as you, I can watch HD fine in the app, just not embedded vids. Also, on some sites you do get the option to press the "toothed wheel" and get the YouTube link. Opening that link will open the app.

However on MF and MotorMeuk that never works. Dunno why though..

It's been a problem ever since 7.0 came out, on 6 everything was perfect. I also looked for a way to go back to 6 but it seems that's impossible..

Has anyone figured out a way around this other than just using the YT app?

Embedded videos still look terrible in safari under iOS 7.1.1 (retina iPad mini)

Apr 28, 2014 4:16 PM in response to Oreo5000

As far as I know there is still no solution/fix for this issue. And it really *****, it's been a problem ever since 7.0 came out, and yet Apple does nothing to resolve it, or even acknowledge the fact that the issue exists.

Apr 29, 2014 1:15 AM in response to cwoelders

Maybe Apple are just making sure that video content also now looks as bad as low res images do on our fancy retina displays. At least our menu bars are razor sharp...

Apple’s latest MacOS Big Sur beta brings 4K YouTube to Safari

If you’re a fan of the Safari web browser on your Mac, Apple just gave YouTube video playback a major upgrade in its latest macOS beta release. Now available for download , developers on the macOS Big Sur beta 4 can finally playback YouTube videos in 4K UHD resolution using Apple’s Safari browser.

Apple published details about the feature change in its Big Sur beta 4 documentation, noting that the software brings “support for 4K HDR playback of YouTube videos” in Safari and Webkit.

Prior to today’s release, YouTube video was capped at just 1080p FHD resolution when using Safari. This meant that if you wanted to play YouTube videos at resolutions greater than FHD, you had to choose an alternate browser, like Google’s Chrome. If all goes well during Apple’s beta testing period, Big Sur is expected to be released this fall for all consumers.

This change is especially notable given Apple’s push for higher resolution displays in recent years with Retina Displays appearing on smartphones, tablets, and the Mac. This means that if you own Apple’s iMac with Retina 4K Display, iMac with Retina 5K Display , iMac Pro with Retina 5K Display,  or Apple’s studio-grade Pro Display XDR panel with a Retina 6K Display, you can edit and playback YouTube videos in resolutions up to 4K .

Initially announced earlier this summer at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference event, macOS Big Sur introduced a number of new features , including new icons, an updated menu bar, redesigned sheets, and a refreshed Notification Center — changes that will helps to unify Apple’s desktop macOS operating system with its mobile iOS and iPad OS platforms. In fact, Apple views the changes introduced with Big Sur significant enough to warrant a numerical jump to its macOS platform, moving from macOS 10 for desktops — which was initially introduced in 2001 — to macOS 11.

Big Sur is also the first operating system that kicks off Apple’s support for its own custom in-house silicon as Apple moves away from Intel. As Apple transitions to ARM-based processors for its Mac, we can likely expect to see Apple port over more features from its mobile platforms.

If you want to give Big Sur a spin ahead of its commercial release, you can begin by enrolling your Mac in Apple’s software preview program . However, before you do that, be sure to read Apple’s documentation for the latest beta release to see what problems or issues you may encounter during testing. Although Apple announced that Big Sur will be coming to supported Macs this fall, the company did not give a specific launch date.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is coming up soon, and everyone's expecting a huge announcement around AI. But don't worry, according to a report from AppleInsider, there are some practical tweaks coming to macOS 15 that are in the works. Notably, the System Settings app is set to receive the biggest changes, with other menus and app UIs also expecting some rearranging.

The last update to the Settings app happened with macOS Ventura, changing the name from System Preferences to System Settings and shifting to an iOS-style design, a change that ruffled the feathers of diehard Mac users. This time, the organizational system will reportedly be based on "priority and overall importance."

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is less than a month away, meaning it’ won't be long before we find out exactly what sort of updates are coming to macOS 15. It’s always an exciting time for Mac users, as we get to find out what Apple is doing to tune up its operating systems and improve the Mac experience for all of us.

By this stage, we’ve already seen a bunch of intriguing leaks hinting at what’s coming in macOS 15. There are a few things I really want Apple to fix, as well as plenty of cool features heading our way if the rumors prove to be correct.

I use macOS every day, and there’s no doubt that I love it as an operating system. Yet, despite how full of genuinely brilliant features it is, there are still a handful of things I just wish it did better.

Luckily, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just a month away, which means there’s not long until we see what kind of software improvements Apple has in store for us. I’ve been thinking hard about what kind of changes I’d like to see happen, from Siri to Stage Manager and everything in-between. Here are the key areas I think Apple needs to fix in macOS 15. Hey Siri, meet AI Even when I ask Siri for the WWDC date, it can't give me a straight answer. Digital Trends

Come funziona Distraction control

A screenshot showcasing Apple's new Distraction Control in iOS 18 within the Safari web browser.

A screenshot showcasing Apple's new Distraction Control in iOS 18.
