No, you didn’t accidentally go to Trojans Wire . This very much is Fighting Irish Wire. And yes, this is a gallery of photos from a tour of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum I took three weeks ago.

I know what you’re thinking, and yeah, this probably doesn’t belong on a Notre Dame site. But in order to better understand the cherished rivalry between Notre Dame and USC, it sometimes helps to learn more about the legendary stadium in which the Trojans play.

The Trojans have been there for 100 years now and will continue to be there after we’re gone . No knock against Notre Dame Stadium obviously, but there simply is more history involved at the iconic Los Angeles venue.

Taking this tour was part of a weeklong sojourn my wife and I took to Southern California, and it was one thing she really wanted to do. The tour group consisted of us and one gentleman from Scotland. Neither he nor the tour guide took notice of the  Micah Shrewsberry T-shirt from Jon Rothstein that I wore. If anyone had recognized it though, major props to them.

So without further ado, here are various views of the field, club levels, historical markers, and even Will Ferrell’s private suite. You’ll also see Knute Rockne and Frank Leahy make appearances. Enjoy these images even if they might be difficult for you to stomach:

Hannah Green defends LPGA Tour title in Los Angeles after brilliant back-nine blitz

Sport Hannah Green defends LPGA Tour title in Los Angeles after brilliant back-nine blitz

Hannah Green holds LA Championship trophy

Hannah Green has continued her love affair with Wilshire Golf Club to successfully defend her LA Championship crown with one of the most commanding displays of the year.

Australia's former major champion produced a brilliant back-nine blitz to close with a five-under-par 66 and blow away the field in the shadows of Los Angeles' iconic Hollywood hills backdrop.

With a five-under stretch in five holes, Green finished with a 12-under 272 total, three strokes clear of in-form Swede Maja Stark (68).

Green stretched her streak to 16 consecutive sub-par rounds at the course to slam the door shut on her chasers.

"It's really kind to me. I love it here," she said.

In adding to her HSBC Women's World Champions success in Singapore last month, Green joins rampant world No.1 Nelly Korda as only the second player to notch multiple LPGA Tour victories in 2024.

"To obviously already win in Singapore and then win here this week, I hope that I can get closer to my goal being in the top 10 in the world and solidify my spot in the Olympics," the Perth prodigy said.

Green will climb from world No.18 to the cusp of the top 10, as well as soar to third in the season-long points standings behind five-time winner Korda and New Zealand's Lydia Ko.

The 27-year-old also joins greats Karrie Webb (41), Jan Stephenson (16) Minjee Lee (10) and Rachel Hetherington (eight) as only the fifth Australian to win at least five times on the LPGA Tour.

After starting the day sharing the lead with compatriot Grace Kim, Green quickly established a two-shot advantage on the very first hole.

Green's birdie and Kim's bogey left Green with the outright lead, and she retained it all afternoon despite a strong challenge coming from Stark.

Runner-up to Korda at last week's Chevron Championship, the year's first major, Stark was just one shot back after making birdies on the seventh and 13th holes as Green toiled mid-round with seven straight pars.

But a chip-in birdie on the par-3 12th broke the shackles for Green, who picked up another shot on 13 to nudge two strokes clear.

"When I chipped in on 12, I kind of felt like I really snagged one there," she said.

"So I knew what I needed to do to do. I made it really easy on myself so I'm really grateful."

Stark received a huge break on the 15th when her bunker shot clattered into the pin and stopped dead for an easy birdie when a bogey looked more likely.

Green, though, more than held her nerve — she hit the go button with a spectacular eagle three on 15, followed by a fourth birdie of the day on 16.

In collecting a cheque for $US562,500 ($A858,700), the West Australian crashed through the $US5 million ($A7.6 million) career prize money earnings.

While Green rejoiced, Kim's horror weekend continued with a demoralising six-over 77 to slump to a share of 25th.

The 23-year-old had been four shots clear at the halfway point and on track to capture a second LPGA Tour title.

Instead Kim was reduced to a putting wreck, unable to fashion a single birdie all weekend and racking up nine bogeys and a double.

Despite her disappointment, classy Kim was the first to shower her triumphant playing partner with champagne on the 18th green.

Rolling Stones kick off 48th tour with ‘Hackney Diamonds’ cuts and classics in Houston

The Rolling Stones opened their Stones Tour ’24 Hackney Diamonds on Sunday to a sold-out crowd of more than 70,000 fans at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The Stones played just three new tracks from the album, choosing to focus instead on classic hits including “Start Me Up,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Satisfaction,” according to a press release. The decision to focus on older material was not unsurprising for a group with more than six decades of songs to choose from.

It was the rockers’ first performance of material from their 2023 effort “Hackney Diamonds” since the album’s surprise release at the 600-seat club Racket in New York last October. (Fans and celebrities packed that tiny venue expecting merely a Stones show and instead were treated to a breadth of new songs — and a Lady Gaga cameo.)

As the tour rolls on, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and company plan to make stadium stops in Glendale, Ariz.; Las Vegas; Seattle; East Rutherford, N.J.; Foxboro, Mass.; Orlando; Atlanta; Philadelphia; Cleveland; Denver; Chicago; Vancouver; Inglewood; and Santa Clara.

When the Stones hit SoFi Stadium this summer, they’ll be accompanied by the War and Treaty on July 10 and the Linda Lindas on July 13.

“Hackney Diamonds” is the rockers’ first studio album of original material in nearly two decades, following 2005’s “A Bigger Bang.” It’s also the Stones’ first LP since the death of founding drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. It’s the first time the band has been on the road since its 60th anniversary tour in 2022, and the tour will also feature a stop at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 2.

“Charlie was one of the funniest guys I’ve ever known,” Richards told Times music critic Mikael Wood in 2021, “and the most unlikely man to be famous. He hated that side of the job and used to savagely take the piss out of it.”

When “Hackney Diamonds” game out, Wood wrote in his album review, “The songs blend the same ingredients the Stones have been using since the beginning — blues, rock, soul, country, gospel — but they’re tighter and punchier than on any of the band’s previous late-era LPs.”

Meanwhile, according to Rolling Stone , back at the Houston concert one fan said, “People say Joe Biden is too old to be president. They need to look at Mick!”

That said, the Rolling Stones’ 48th tour is sponsored by AARP.

Gypsy rose rides tmz tour bus, dines at lisa vanderpump's restaurant, gypsy rose blanchard ultimate l.a. tourist experience ... tmz tour, beach, sur.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard 's brief trip to Los Angeles this week ended up chock-full of memories -- and it's because she had the ultimate tourist experience ... with some help from TMZ!

GRB hopped on the TMZ Celebrity Tour Thursday ... and, she was totally down to earth -- taking pics with some of the riders and answering our questions about her time in L.A. ... including if anyone famous has ever extended an invite to hang out.

As it turns out, Gypsy says that has happened ... naming one of the Jonas Bros. as having reached out and telling her to roll through for an event in January, which she couldn't make.

Gypsy also tells us about helpful celebs -- like child safety advocate Elizabeth Smart -- who have DM'd her and even answers whether she'd consider a career in entertainment ... as you can see, she certainly seems open to the idea.

Waiting for your permission to load TikTok Post.

We also got her to name her favorite two stars ... and, ya gotta listen to who her celeb crush is.

Gypsy filled up her day with more than the tour BTW ... we're told Gypsy and the fam also went to the beach in Santa Monica -- the first time she's ever seen the ocean. Gypsy went about ankle-deep into the waves and says it was colder than she imagined.

Gypsy also hit a famous L.A. eatery too. As we told you ... Gypsy and her stepmom Kristy are big fans of "Vanderpump Rules" -- so, they ended up going to SUR, no less, which was on their bucket list ... and where they got dolled up to chow down.

Gypsy ordered french fries and Sprite for dinner, and added a brownie and ice cream for dessert ... she even met 'VPR' star Peter Madrigal -- bringing reality TV to real life!

Fans and restaurant employees steadily streamed up to the table during the meal to congratulate Gypsy on her freedom and take a pic with her.

After a jam-packed L.A. day, Gypsy's now heading back to Louisiana ... flying out of the City of Angels early Friday morning -- and, we got her final impressions during an interview at LAX before she boarded her flight. Take a listen ... sounds like she's a fan of SoCal.

Thanks for riding with us, Gypsy ... hope to see you back in L.A. soon!!!

Daryl Hall Talks New Solo Album, Elvis Costello Tour, and Confirms Hall & Oates Are Officially Over (EXCLUSIVE)

Daryl Hall

“Say It Isn’t So” isn’t just the name of a classic Hall & Oates song — it’s the much-headlined reaction to the news that the duo that practically defines duos had a nasty and seemingly final split last year. The two, who began singing and performing together more than 50 years ago over a mutual love of soul and doo-wop music, were almost impossible to imagine without each other — even more than Simon without Garfunkel or George Michael without Andrew Ridgeley, this was more like a final split between peanut butter and jelly. It’s actually hard to imagine.

Popular on Variety

He continues, “I haven’t had a creative relationship with John for at least 25 years. We didn’t write songs together, we didn’t do anything together except perform live shows. We had an arrangement that I couldn’t play my solo songs onstage with Hall & Oates — and now I get to.”

And that’s exactly what Hall, who was always the primary songwriter in the duo, plans to do with his forthcoming sixth solo album, which reunites him with longtime collaborator and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dave Stewart, who produced Hall’s second solo album, “Three Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine,” in 1986.

Out on June 21, “D” is a reminder that Hall is one of the most talented singer-songwriters of the past half century. The first single, “Can’t Say No to You” (out today) epitomizes the sweet, street-corner Philly soul that has characterized Daryl Hall ’s music from the start of his career. Other influences appear on the album, like the Beatlesque “The Whole World’s Better,” which starts with a live audience cheering like at the start of “Sgt. Pepper,” and itself echoes that abum’s song “Getting Better.”

“I wasn’t thinking about that when I wrote it, but I totally agree with you — those clanging chords in the intro,” he says. “It was Dave’s idea to put in the crowd noise. Whatever comes out of my brain are these licks that I’ve learned in my childhood. It’s the basis of my style, my musical DNA.”

And while it might be tempting to think titles like “Rather Be a Fool,” “Not the Way I Thought It Was” and the Sly-styled Philly funk of “Why You Want to Do That to My Head” refer to the split with his former partner, Hall insists it was the furthest thing from his mind.

“These songs couldn’t be less about that,” he insisted. “I had a particularly rocky time over the past 10 years, especially over the last five with romantic relationships, and it’s also about my reactions to all the fucked-up things that are going on around me. But,” he stresses, “I never emotionally cared about Hall & Oates enough to write songs like this.”

A famously private person, Hall was divorced in 2015 from his British wife Armanda Aspinall, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 61. In “Rather Be a Fool,” he sings, “How could something be so right/ And go so wrong overnight?”

“I wrote that song in the midst of my divorce, and it was about exactly what was happening to me and my wife at the time,” he explains. “It’s very dramatic because I was writing in the middle of all this turmoil. At the end of the song, when I sang that line, it was just to see if the lyrics worked, but we kept the first take. Most of the vocals on the album were like that.”

Hall’s career renaissance began in the ‘00s, not coincidentally after he and Oates began working with Jonathan Wolfson, who took over managing the duo in 2009 after serving as their publicist for the five years before that. Hall’s ongoing web series, “Live from Daryl’s House,” which bowed in November 2007 and returned after a five-year absence last year with episodes featuring Robert Fripp, Andy Grammer, Lisa Loeb and Howard Jones.

Speaking of unexpected collaborations, Hall embarks on another solo tour, this one with Elvis Costello — with whom he duetted some 40 years ago on Costello’s “The Only Flame in Town” — starting June 2 in Troutdale, Oregon, with dates scheduled for the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on June 18, the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas on June 23 and New York’s Radio City Music Hall on July 16.

A new album, an exciting tour with an old friend, a relaunch of his beloved web series — it all would seem to add up to a fresh start for Daryl Hall. But maybe not.

“I wish I could say yes, but no, nothing’s really been resolved,” he sighs. “There’s always a weight on my mind. Every good thing that happens to me, something bad happens. I’ve accepted that. All I can say is, I’m very proud of this album. I got things off my chest, and I’m ready to get out there and sing for people.”

Big changes proposed for LAX ahead of World Cup, Olympics

L AX reportedly could undergo some significant organizational changes intended to help travelers better navigate the airport ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Olympic Games in 2028.

According to a report published on the industry website View from the Wing , Los Angeles International Airport plans to combine the planned Concourse 0, an expansion of the Southwest Airlines portion of the airport, with the existing Terminal 1. The combined space will remain Terminal 1.

Additionally, Terminals 2 and 3 will be combined and known only as Terminal 2, while the Tom Bradley International Terminal will be known as Terminal 3 instead of its current name, Terminal B (for Bradley).

Terminals 7 and 8 will be combined into Terminal 7, and a proposed Terminal 9 at the airport will be renamed to Terminal 8.

All other terminal numbers will likely remain the same.

“The new wayfinding system will organize guest movements throughout the newly -interconnected terminals, the upcoming Automated People Mover (APM), the Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility, LAX Economy Parking, and other amenities at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) by transforming airport wayfinding and signage standards to a world class system and providing a user -centered approach to achieving accessible, clear, consistent, and environment-context-responsive solutions to unifying campus-wide navigation,” reads a report prepared for the Los Angeles World Airports Board of Airport Commissioners.

Commission documents add that the project is expected to cost about $43.6 million but will make a lasting impression on millions of tourists during “their first and last impression of the city.”

“Standardizing the wayfinding system and signage will provide clear, timely, and relevant information at every step of the passenger journey and enable them to plan, orient, and find their way safely and efficiently throughout the airport campus,” the report reads.

Jessica Merritt, director of communications for LAX development projects, said the proposed changes are still under consideration.

“This was a proposal by the consultant hired to work on improving our wayfinding program and help guests smoothly navigate our airport,” she said. “No final decisions have been made by LAWA on the naming of terminals and stations.”
