The Brookwood Cemetery Society is a voluntary group, based in the cemetery. We are dedicated to the preservation, history and appreciation. We operate the official Company approved tours within the Cemetery with all the donations going towards preservation. The cemetery was opened in November 1854.

Tours of Brookwood Military Cemetery
Brookwood shares many of its architectural and horticultural features with CWGC sites overseas, including the Cross of Sacrifice and Stone of Remembrance. During the tour, the Commission's guides will share the history of the various plots and memorials in the cemetery and the stories of some of the brave men and women it commemorates.

The 4.5 acre Brookwood American Cemetery and Memorial in England lies to the west of the large civilian cemetery built by the London Necropolis Co. and contains the graves of 468 of our military dead. Close by are military cemeteries and monuments of the British Commonwealth and other allied nations. Automobiles may drive through the commonwealth or civilian cemeteries to the American cemetery.

About the Cemetery
The bold imaginative planting (which includes several avenues of giant sequoia) has now matured. The Cemetery deserves to be recognised as a site of local historical importance. Brookwood Cemetery was privately owned and operated by Brookwood Park Limited until 2016. It is now owned by Woking Council. The Cemetery is still open for burials.
