How to View your Qatar Visa Online | Qatar eVisa Status Check

For those who are planning to visit Qatar and have already applied for a visa, you can check your visa online by visiting the Ministry of Interior website. Here’s a guide to help you how you can view it on the internet.

The Ministry of Interior in Qatar has outlined an easy online step-by-step guide to help you know and check the status of your Qatar visa application by going through the MOI Qatar portal. You only need to have your passport number or visa number and you check the status of your Qatar eVisa if it is valid or not.

Why It’s Important to Verify Accuracy of Visa

Possession of a valid visa is necessary because it is a proof that you are welcome in your host country. It should be accurate and authentic so that the immigration officials will not detain you or be suspicious of your intentions.

Make sure to contract the services of a legitimate company when you are applying for your visa. Otherwise, you might get a fake document that could cause trouble for you in the long run. On the other hand, even if you are dealing with an authorized company, they might not encode the accurate information about you.

Finally, it’s possible that the immigration officials will send you home if your visa is fake or inaccurate. You would only waste time and money if you do not push through with your trip. These reasons should convince you to verify your visa while you still have the time.

  • Document scans/photos must be clear and readable .
  • For documents with multiple pages, you must combine both photos/scans to create one JPG file .
  • When uploading passports, photo and bio pages should be on the same side.
  • For “Marriage Certificate (Others)”, you can upload the attested backside of the marriage certificate.
  • Often a birth certificate is asked to prove your relationship with the visitor. If this is unavailable, you can also use any other document proving the relationship.

Step 10. You will receive an update after a few days

Step 12. Buy health insurance

From April 2023, health insurance needs to be taken after the visit visa is approved (not during application).

Once your visa is approved, you will receive a message to buy the insurance. While buying the insurance, enter the visa number and it will be updated in the Metrash system. The visa can be printed only after insurance has been purchased.

After this, you can download the visa copy and send it to the visitor for travel.

You can see the status on your Metrash app itself.

You can also check the family visit visa status on the Ministry of Interior website under Inquiries >> Visa Services >> Visa Approval Tracking ( link ).

Qatar Visa Check Online

Enter the application number and application date or sponsor’s QID number. Make sure all the required details are filled in correctly, and you’ll be able to check your visa status.

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) no longer entertains offline applications for family visit visas. You are required to apply via the Metrash mobile app.

There may be several reasons why your family visit visa application is rejected. Often it is due to submitting wrong or insufficient documents.

If the document photo is not clear or not attested (in the case of a marriage certificate), you can do the attestation and resubmit again. However, it is imperative to understand the reason and fix it before applying again.

Applications can also be rejected if the applicant (a Qatar resident) does not comply with the required conditions (salary or profession). If the application is rejected due to the applicant not meeting the salary requirement, it would be difficult to get approved again.

However, in case of rejection due to profession, you can try to meet the Captain at the Immigration Office in Duhail , and request for reconsideration. Sometimes he would approve if the profession is acceptable.

If your application is still under review or process, you can cancel it by clicking on the right arrow on the status page. If this option is not available, you will have to visit any MOI Service Center.

As the initial visa is issued for one month only, the sponsor has to extend it within the first month to avoid any penalties.

Relatives wishing to stay beyond one month must undergo a medical test within a few days. Here is the detailed process of the medical test for a visit visa extension .

Once the medical examination is passed, the visit visa can be extended online using the Metrash mobile app (Visa –> Visa Services –> Extend Visa) or by visiting any MOI service centre.

Family Visit

If the return ticket is after 30 days, some airlines may not allow visitors to board the flight since the initial visa is only for 30 days. So make sure to book a flight ticket that can be modified with a minimum change fee. In this way, once the visitor reaches Qatar, the ticket dates can be modified.

As this is an online visa, some airlines may require an “OK to Board” status in their system before departure. You can get this status by showing the visa copy to the airline’s Doha office.

“Null” Status on Visit Visa Application Receipt

Some of our readers have raised concerns that the receipt they received after application submission shows “null” in most fields.

Please note that this is normal for all applicants. This document is only an acknowledgement that they received your application. Your application details will be in the system.

Visit Visa Application “Under Process” and “Under Review” Status

Applicants often get confused about changes to their visit visa application status. It is normal that each visit visa application moves through “Under Process” and “Under Review” statuses multiple times before approval.

If your application status changes between these two, you do not have to do anything. In most cases, the application will be approved within days of a status change.

Qatar Family Visit Visa Approval Time

As of 2024, the average approval time for a Family Visit Visa is 1-4 weeks. Please note that applications are processed in batches and may not be on a first-come first-serve basis.

In 2022, Qatar Airways joined the Avios frequent flyer program, allowing passengers to earn the same frequent flyer miles earned by British Airways , AerLingus , Iberia Airlines and others.

Now, Qatar Airways Privilege Club members can earn Avios without flying and also snag a fast track to elite status, thanks to the release of two new credit cards, issued by Cardless , a fintech company.

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card.

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card.

Applications for the cards go live on May 7, 2024. Here's what to expect.

How the new Qatar Airways credit cards stack up

Prospective card applicants were able to join a waitlist in mid-April. If you joined that waitlist and apply within 30 days of the card applications going live, you'll be eligible for an additional 5,000 bonus Avios on the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card or 10,000 bonus Avios on the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card. These are in addition to the sign-up bonuses available to all applicants.

Elite status and benefits

The one year of automatic elite status with each card has no spending requirement. Additional Qpoints earned by spending on the card can help members qualify for status in subsequent years.

Benefits of the Gold status earned with the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card include a 75% tier bonus on earning Avios with eligible flights; priority check-in and boarding; complimentary lounge access and four guest lounge passes every year; a free extra baggage allowance; and complimentary preferred seat selection. Gold elite members will also receive all the benefits of Oneworld Sapphire tier elite status and collect Avios while flying on Oneworld member airlines.

Benefits of the Silver status earned with the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card include a 25% tier bonus on earning Avios with eligible flights; priority check-in and boarding; complimentary lounge access and two guest lounge passes every year; an extra baggage allowance; and 20% savings on preferred seat selection. Silver elite members will also receive all the benefits of Oneworld Ruby tier elite status and collect Avios while flying on Oneworld member airlines.

The power of Avios

Avios points earned on these cards can be redeemed for flights with Qatar Airways, but also Oneworld Alliance airlines such as Alaska Airlines and British Airways, as well as partner airlines, including JetBlue Airways. The rewards can also be transferred to other Avios-based rewards programs, such as British Airways and Iberia Airlines. That transfer ability and access to partner airlines make Avios extremely valuable for optimizers who don’t mind learning how to maximize the value of their rewards.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card

Unless you’re a frequent flyer with Qatar Airways and you really value elite status, there are easier and more flexible ways to earn Avios. For example, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards® that can be transferred to a variety of Avios-based rewards programs, including the British Airways Executive Club, Aer Lingus AerClub and Iberia Plus. These programs all give you access to the Oneworld Alliance award chart, including Qatar Airways. New cardholders can also qualify for a bigger introductory offer: Earn 75,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That's over $900 when you redeem through Chase Travel℠.

Qatar Airways Unveils US Credit Cards That Come With Oneworld Elite Status

  • Qatar Airways introduces new cobranded credit cards in the US, offering up to 50,000 Avios points and oneworld elite status perks.
  • Cardholders can earn Avios on everyday spending, access flight rewards, upgrades, and more, with a fast track to elite tiers.
  • Two card options, Visa Signature, and Visa Infinite, provide varying benefits and annual fees, aiming to enhance the US market loyalty program.

The flag carrier of Qatar is introducing two new cobranded credit cards aimed at US travelers. The cards will collect Avios frequent flyer points and provide opportunities for cardholders to enjoy elite status with one world alliance carriers. The move comes as Qatar Airways looks to expand its Privilege Club airline loyalty program in the United States, following several similar card announcements from the likes of Breeze Airways and avianca.

Extending Avios to the US

Simple Flying previously revealed there will be two versions of the card, both issued by Visa in partnership with Cardless. Designated as the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card and Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card , the new products will enable one world passengers and Qatar Airways Privilege Club members in the US to collect Avios (the rewards currency of six airline loyalty programs) on their everyday spending and a fast-track to Silver or Gold tiers which equate to one world alliance Ruby and Sapphire status.

Love learning about points and miles? Read more of our loyalty news and guides here .

Cardholders can spend the Avios on flights across Qatar Airways, one world, and partner airlines, as well as upgrades, preferred seat selection, extra baggage, and more. Avios can even be transferred to other programs at a 1:1 ratio, including the British Airways Executive Club and American Express membership rewards points. Away from the airport, members can link their credit cards to their Privilege Club account to collect and spend Avios at participating retail, dining, entertainment, and lifestyle venues. Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Thierry Antinori, expressed excitement for the launch:

As the loyalty programme to a leader in the aviation industry, we strive to uphold the same level of dedication in providing our members with the best benefits across the globe.
We are proud to be partnering with Cardless to introduce the first Qatar Airways Privilege Club Credit Cards in the U.S. market, which also includes being the first international airline loyalty programme to offer a Visa Infinite credit card. This partnership with Cardless demonstrates our commitment to collaborating with pioneers in the financial technology industry to enhance the benefits for our Privilege Club members.

The application portal with further information is now live on the airline's website . This will be the fourth card that offers Avios in the United States. Chase currently provides three cards for Aer Lingus, British Airways, and Iberia.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card

This entry-level card comes with an annual fee $99, and a strong sign up bonus . Cardholders will automatically receive 20,000 bonus Avios with the first purchase and 20,000 more after spending $3,000 in the first 90 days. These air miles are in addition to the bonus for anyone who signed up for the waitlist.

The earning rates are quite strong, allowing passengers to earn points for travel and airline loyalty. Passengers will earn 4 Avios for every $ 1 spent with this credit card on Qatar Airways purchases, 2 Avios on restaurant spending, and 1 Avios on all other purchases.

5 Reasons To Join Qatar Airways' Frequent Flyer Program In 2024

Notably, the card also provides multiple options to increase airline status with the carrier. Upon approval, cardholders receive Silver Tier status for a year with Qatar Airways Privilege Club, which comes with all the benefits of the one world Ruby tier. Members will also collect 2 Qpoints for every $2,000 spent with this credit card, giving them a new way to collect the points required to upgrade or retain their tier with Qatar Airways Privilege Club. The remaining features include the following.

  • 25% tier bonus on earning Avios with eligible flights.
  • Priority stand-by, check-in, and boarding.
  • Complimentary access to lounges in airports and two guest lounge passes every year.
  • Extra baggage allowance of 1 piece or 15 kg (33 lbs) and 20% savings on preferred seat selection.
  • Savings of up to 15% when paying with Avios on shopping at Qatar Duty-Free.

Membership to the Silver Tier is only guaranteed for one year, after which passengers must maintain elite status the traditional way.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Infinite Credit Card

The premium card will be the first Visa Infinite credit card to launch for an international airline loyalty program in the US market. The card comes with a matte metal design, additional benefits compared to the Visa Signature product, and an annual fee of $499. Headline features for the product include the significant signup bonus, Gold tier status, and Visa Infinite-exclusive savings:

  • The welcome bonus of up to 50,000 Avios upon being accepted for this credit card (in addition to the waitlist bonus) is split between 25,000 Avios after the first transaction and an additional 25,000 Avios after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days.
  • More accessible status upgrades with 150 Qpoints after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days to assist in reaching and retaining elite status tiers.
  • An ongoing earning rate of 5 Avios per $1 spent with the credit card on Qatar Airways, 3 Avios on restaurant spend, and 1 Avios on all other spend.
  • Members will also collect 2 Qpoints for every $1,500 spent with this credit card, a slightly higher rate of return than the Signature product.
  • Cardholders will also enjoy a fast track to a year of Gold tier with Qatar Airways Privilege Club to enjoy all the benefits of the one world Sapphire tier and collect Avios while flying with one world airlines.
  • 75% tier bonus on earning Avios with eligible flights
  • Priority stand-by, check-in, boarding, and baggage handling
  • Complimentary access to lounges in airports and four guest lounge passes every year
  • Extra baggage allowance of 1 piece or 20 kg (44 lbs) and complimentary preferred seat selection
  • Complimentary meet and assist services from Al Maha Services while traveling through Hamad International Airport in Doha
  • Savings of up to 15% when paying with Avios on shopping at Qatar Duty-Free

The Visa Infinite option provides a premium option in a space primarily dominated by cards used by American Express, so it should provide an exciting alternative. Cardless, the airline's partner in the project, is also behind recent cobranded credit cards for TAP Air Portugal and avianca . Mr Michael Spelfogel, a Co-Founder and President of Cardless, highlighted the historic nature of this agreement:

"We are thrilled to unveil this strategic partnership with Qatar Airways Privilege Club and introduce their first credit cards in the U.S. market. This collaboration underscores the synergies between our innovative financial solutions and Qatar Airways Privilege Clubs commitment to enhancing the premium travel experience. Together, we are poised to deliver unparalleled benefits and convenience to our customers, facilitating their travels to world-class destinations around the globe.

There are also several perks that are exclusive to the Visa Infinite product that are extended to cardholders of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card:

  • VISA Infinite Concierge services - open the door to unique experiences, find tickets to top sports and entertainment events, book travel, make dinner reservations, and more with your complimentary 24/7 Visa Infinite Concierge
  • VISA Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection - a premium collection of benefits at a selection of the world's intriguing and prestigious properties.
  • VISA Infinite Rental Car Privileges - cardholders enjoy unique benefits with leading car rental providers

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card review

As one of two new cards issued in partnership with Cardless, the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature card has an annual fee of just $99 and impressive earning potential. However, the ongoing benefits of the card are lackluster, falling short of the standard of excellence the airline is known for. Outside of a first year of Silver elite status, the card doesn’t offer many extras to cardholders to justify the price.

This could be partly due to Qatar already having so many perks integrated into their in-flight experience. For example, the credit card doesn’t need to offer a checked bag allowance as a perk when all travelers receive at least one checked bag when flying.

If you don’t earn enough of the airline’s Qpoints to maintain your Silver tier status in Qatar’s elite status program after your first year as a cardholder, you might feel like you’re not getting your annual fee’s worth.

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature is best for a particular traveler. You need to fly Qatar Airways or Oneworld partners regularly enough to be willing to pay an annual cardholder fee in exchange for some benefits. But if that particular traveler is you, it’s worth considering the $499-annual-fee Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite instead, which comes with an extensive array of perks for the price.

  • High earning potential on Qatar Airways purchases: If your primary motivation for applying for the card is to earn Avios to use on flights, this card delivers.
  • No foreign transaction fees : As is standard on cards issued by Cardless, you don’t have to worry about incurring additional fees when making purchases abroad.
  • One year of Silver elite status: Upon being accepted for the card, you will earn one year of Silver elite status. This is the first tier of three and includes valuable benefits in the air and at the airport.
  • Low non-bonus category earning: Outside of Qatar Airways and restaurant spending, the card earns just one point per dollar, so you’ll likely want a separate card for other spending.
  • Minimal ongoing benefits: The elite status perk is valid for one year. If you don’t earn enough to renew your status, you’ll lose one of the card’s primary benefits.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card rewards

One of the best parts of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature card is its bonus category earning potential. Cardholders will earn 4 Avios per $1 spent on eligible Qatar Airways purchases, 2 Avios per $1 at restaurants and 1 Avios per $1 on other spend. If you regularly fly Qatar Airways and want to maximize your earnings, this card is a great way to do it.

The airline is known for offering one of the most luxurious business class products in the sky and is well-regarded as a premier international airline. Headquartered in Doha, Qatar, the airline flies to nearly 170 destinations around the globe.

If you link your credit card to your Privilege Club account, you can collect and spend Avios at participating retail, dining, entertainment and lifestyle venues. The Avios you earn on payments with your linked credit card is in addition to the Avios you earn for using your card for payment. This is a great way to earn extra points on non-bonus category spending.

Additionally, cardholders will earn 2 Qpoints for every $2,000 spent on their card. Qpoints are the elite status metric with Qatar Airways. The exact number of Qpoints needed to earn status will depend on whether you want to renew your current tier or upgrade to the next one, as seen in the table below.

As a new cardholder, you receive one year of Silver elite status. This means you need to earn just 135 Qpoints to keep your status after your first year, rather than 150 to achieve status in the first place. If you prefer to upgrade to Gold, you’d need to earn 300 Qpoints. Note that you must earn at least 20% of your Qpoints on flights operated by Qatar Airways.

The number of Qpoints you earn on a flight will depend on your route, the fare class you choose and your current status. For example, I’m flying on a roundtrip, business class flight from Madrid to the Maldives in July 2024. I don’t currently hold elite status with Qatar, so this trip will earn 66 Qpoints. If I were a cardholder of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Card, I’d be almost halfway to renewing my Silver status after this trip.

The welcome offer allows you to earn 20,000 Avios after the first transaction, an additional 20,000 Avios, plus 150 Qpoints after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 90 days of account opening.

Using government data and other publicly available information, we estimate that a household in the U.S. that would be in the market for this card has around $29,525 in annual expenses that can be charged to a credit card. Here’s how our sample household’s rewards could break down:

The cardholder in this example earns a grand total of 37,406 Avios annually. The value of an Avios will depend on the redemption method, but you can generally expect to be able to purchase a flight with this earning.

To redeem your points, you can purchase flights on Qatar Airways or on Oneworld partners which include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan Airlines. You can also redeem your Avios on partner airlines including Bangkok Airways, JetBlue, Latam Airlines, Middle East Airlines, Oman Air, RwandAir, S7 Airlines and Virgin Australia.

Avios can also be used to purchase upgrades, preferred seat selection and extra baggage. You can also use them to access the Privilege Club Collection, to book packages with Qatar Airways Holidays and to dine and shop at Qatar Duty Free.

Qatar Airways has connectivity for 12 major cities in the U.S.: New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Houston, Dallas Fort Worth and Washington, D.C.

Let’s look at some popular routes and how many Avios it will cost to get there. A flight from Miami (MIA) to Dubai (DXB) with a layover in Doha (DOH) will cost just 45,000 Avios one-way in economy, plus $136.40 in taxes and fees.

qatar visit visa application status

If you love hiking, you can fly from Seattle (SEA) to Kilimanjaro (JRO) with a layover in Doha for just 85,000 Avios round-trip, plus $338.80 in taxes and fees.

With the number of routes offered by the airline and its partners, you can certainly go places with the points you earn on your card.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card perks

One of the most notable perks of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature card is one year of Silver elite status. As a Silver elite member, you will receive:

  • 25% tier bonus on earning Avios with eligible flights.
  • Priority stand-by, check-in and boarding.
  • Complimentary access to lounges in airports and two guest lounge passes every year.
  • Extra baggage allowance of 1 piece or 15 kg (33 lbs) and 20% savings on preferred seat selection.
  • Savings of up to 15% when paying with Avios on shopping at Qatar Duty Free.

Qatar Airways is a member of the oneworld alliance, which means your Silver elite status gives you oneworld Ruby status and the opportunity to collect Avios when flying with oneworld airlines.

Ruby privileges include access to Business Class priority check-in, access to preferred or pre-reserved seating and priority on waitlists and when on standby.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card drawbacks

Although the fast track to one year of Silver Elite status is a fantastic perk, it would be great to see that perk be a permanent feature of the card. Once that year ends, the card won’t have many concrete perks outside of earning Avios. Other airline cards with comparable annual fees might include annual statement credits, discounts on award redemptions, discounts on in-flight purchases or priority boarding.

How the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card compares to other airline cards

Qatar airways privilege club visa signature credit card vs. qatar airways privilege club visa infinite credit card * the information for the qatar airways privilege club visa infinite credit card has been collected independently by blueprint. the card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer..

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite is the higher-end sibling of the Visa Signature card. As such, the card has many more benefits, but at a cost of $499 per year. The earning potential is higher as you can earn 5 Avios per $1 on eligible Qatar Airways spend, 3 Avios per $1 at restaurants and 1 Avios per $1 on other spend. Plus, for every $1,500 you spend on your card, you’ll earn 2 Qpoints.

The welcome offer is slightly elevated, too, allowing you to earn up to 5 Avios per $1 on eligible Qatar Airways spend, 3 Avios per $1 at restaurants and 1 Avios per $1 on other spend. The card also comes with one year of Gold elite status, which means the bonus Qpoints put you more than halfway to being able to renew your status for another year.

As a Visa Infinite card, you will have access to the Visa Infinite Concierge service, the luxury hotel collection, a primary auto rental collision damage waiver, a reimbursement via statement credit for the application fees for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry (up to $100) and more.

Between the two cards, the Visa Infinite comes out on top for both earning potential and perks but not every traveler wants to add a $499-annual-fee card to their wallet. The Signature might make sense if you’re looking for a lower cost way to accrue Avios with Qatar Airways.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card vs. United℠ Explorer Card * The information for the United℠ Explorer Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

The United℠ Explorer Card * The information for the United℠ Explorer Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer. is the entry-level credit card for United Airlines travelers, with $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95. It earns 2 miles per $1 on dining including eligible delivery services, hotel stays and United purchases and 1 mile per $1 on all other purchases. Cardholders get their first checked bag free for themselves and a companion, an up to $100 statement credit for the application fee for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry and priority boarding. In addition, cardholders get two, one-time United Club passes each year and Premier upgrades on award tickets.

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature is the better choice based on earning alone. However, the United Explorer card has more benefits than the Qatar card and is for a U.S.-based airline, which means it will be better for domestic travel. Additionally, cardholders of this or any United credit card get access to “hidden” reward space with the airline that only cardholders or those with United Premier status have access to. The Qatar card doesn’t unlock any additional reward flight availability.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card vs. Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is one of the best airline credit cards due to its earning potential, multiple airline transfer partners and relatively low annual fee. For just $95 per year, cardholders can earn 5 points per $1 on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3 points per $1 on dining, select streaming services, and online grocery purchases (excluding Walmart, Target and wholesale clubs), 2 points per $1 on all other travel purchases and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases. Plus, cardholders can earn up to $50 in statement credits each year for hotel stays booked through Chase Travel.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred allows you to transfer your points to 11 airline partners and three hotel partners, giving you greater flexibility to redeem your points. While the Chase Sapphire Preferred might have more utility for you overall, it doesn’t offer point transfers to Qatar, so there might be room in your wallet for both cards.

Is the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card worth it?

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature card is a welcome addition to the market. Qatar Airways is known for its luxury travel experience, and with increased routes serving U.S. travelers the card is worth the annual fee for a specific type of Qatar Airways frequent flyer.

The benefits of the card aren’t substantial, so you’ll want other cards in your wallet that will give you better travel perks, like a statement credit for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application fees , lounge access, bonus points on everyday spending and comprehensive travel protections and insurance coverage. If you already have cards that include those benefits, you can justify the annual fee by the earning potential alone.

If you do apply for the card, you’ll want to work toward earning at least 135 Qpoints so you can keep your Silver elite status, as it’s a primary benefit of the card. However, if you don’t fly Qatar Airways regularly enough to meet the threshold to earn status, you might be better off with a general travel rewards card with a transferable point currency. American Express Membership Rewards® and Citi ThankYou® points transfer to Qatar Airways at a 1:1 ratio, so you can book award flights using those points.

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card is right for you if:

  • You fly Qatar Airways frequently enough to justify paying an annual fee but not enough to justify getting the Visa Infinite card.
  • You plan on taking enough flights throughout the year to earn Silver elite status.
  • Your primary motivation for applying is earning bonus points on Qatar Airways purchases.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A free checked bag is not a cardholder benefit, but Qatar Airways allows at least one checked bag on every flight, regardless of fare class. Cardholders also receive one year of Silver elite status, which includes an additional checked bag allowance.

The exact value of an Avios will vary depending on the redemption method. Using the previous example of the flight from Miami to Dubai, you can pay 45,000 Avios or $477, giving you a valuation of roughly one cent per point. However, you can likely find much better valuations, especially in higher fare classes.

The number of points you will need to purchase a Qatar Airways flight will depend on several factors, like the time of year, route, availability and more. If you are curious about how much a flight will cost, you can visit the airline’s Qatar Airways My Calculator page to compare routes.

The annual fee for the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature is $99.

Form I-730, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition, Form and Fee Information

Individuals admitted to the United States as a refugee or granted status in the United States as an asylee within the past two years may file a Form I-730, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition, for qualifying relatives.

Filing and Other Special Instructions:

Refugees or asylees file this petition in the United States for their qualifying relatives. Please see the Form I-730 webpage for filing instructions. If you file a Form I-730 petition with a domestic USCIS office for a beneficiary who resides in Qatar, we will transfer the petition to the USCIS Doha Field Office for further processing. We will contact the petitioning relative and any representative of record to initiate processing and gather additional information and documents, once we have received the Form I-730 from the domestic USCIS office.

Please Note: It is important to notify our office if the beneficiary’s contact information changes from what is on their Form I-730. You should inform us of any such changes by submitting the change by email to this office.

Lawful permanent residents may pick up a reentry permit you applied for by filing Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, to return to the United States travel abroad in certain circumstances (PDF, 667.32 KB) .

This office does not adjudicate re-entry permits. This office only provides service if you applied for a reentry permit by filing Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, in the United States and asked USCIS to send your reentry permit to the U.S. Embassy/USCIS in Doha.

If we receive contact information, USCIS Doha will contact you when your Form I-131 has been approved by an office in the United States and your reentry permit is ready for collection. If you believe your permit should be at USCIS Doha and you have not heard from us, you may send us an inquiry .

Find instructions on how to obtain or replace a reentry permit at How Do I Get a Reentry Permit (PDF, 667.32 KB) .

Biometrics collection supports certain applications and petitions pending with a USCIS international office and, in some cases, with a domestic office.

If USCIS has requested biometrics (such as fingerprints, photograph, and/or signature) in association with the adjudication of the forms listed below, individuals residing in Qatar generally may request biometrics collection at our office:

  • Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative ;
  • Form I-131, Application for Travel Document (Refugee Travel Document (RTD)), if the applicant has departed the United States without an RTD and has received permission from USCIS to file Form I-131 from outside the United States. Otherwise, it is at the field office director’s discretion as we explain in the section For All Other Forms Not Listed Above;
  • Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er) or Special Immigrant ;
  • Form I-600, Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative —We do not always require residency;
  • Form I-600A, Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition —We do not always require residency;
  • Form I-730, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition ;
  • Form I-800A, Application for Determination of Suitability to Adopt from Convention Country —We do not always require residency;
  • Form I-914, Application for T Nonimmigrant Status** ;
  • Form I-918, Petition for U Nonimmigrant Status** ;
  • Form N-400, Application for Naturalization —for active duty military service members stationed abroad and their dependents, and for certain applicants who are eligible for naturalization under section 319(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

For All Other Forms Not Listed Above:

USCIS usually schedules biometrics collection at an Application Support Center (ASC) in the United States based on the applicant’s or petitioner’s address of record.

In rare circumstances, international field office directors may use their discretion to collect biometrics that we initially scheduled for collection in the United States. When deciding whether to collect biometrics at an international field office, field office directors will consider resource constraints and appropriate supporting evidence the applicant provides, as well as the following factors:

  • An appointment notice showing that we scheduled biometrics collection at a domestic USCIS office;
  • Evidence of extenuating circumstances requiring the individual to depart the United States before we collected their biometrics as indicated in the appointment notice. For example, these circumstances might include, but are not limited to, the need to assist a critically ill family member, an unexpected immediate job transfer, or other urgent need; and
  • Evidence that the applicant requested an expedited or rescheduled appointment at an ASC before leaving the United States, or an explanation of why they failed to request an expedited or rescheduled appointment.
  • For those residing abroad: Evidence of the compelling circumstances or hardship that would prevent the applicant or petitioner from traveling back to the United States for an ASC appointment. Generally, we do not consider the expense of traveling back to the United States to be a hardship in itself.

Because of the small number of staff in our international offices, you may experience a delay in appointment availability for biometrics collection.

You can contact USCIS Doha   to determine whether you are eligible to have your biometrics captured at this office or for further information.

*Note : The available biometric services noted above only apply if you live in a country with a USCIS office.

Form I-601, Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility, Form and Fee Information

If you are inadmissible to the United States and are otherwise approved to immigrate to the United States, you must file this form to seek a waiver of certain grounds of inadmissibility.

Except as we explain below, you must file Form I-601 with the USCIS Lockbox in the United States by mail . If you believe you have extraordinary circumstances that require expedited processing, you may submit a written request for expedited processing along with your application when you file with the Lockbox. You can find further instructions on requesting expedited processing domestically on the How to Make an Expedite Request webpage.

To file with USCIS Doha in limited circumstances:

You must request an exception to Lockbox filing via email.

We may grant an exception to Lockbox filing and permission to file Form I-601 if:

  • The applicant resides in Qatar;
  • There are exceptional and compelling humanitarian circumstances that require immediate filing and adjudication and
  • Expedited processing would not address the urgency of the circumstances.

For information about the exceptions to Lockbox filing and permission to file Form I-601 at an international office, including examples of possible qualifying circumstances, please see the USCIS policy memorandum (PDF, 78.82 KB)  on exceptions for international filing.

Form I-212, Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission into the United States After Deportation or Removal, Form and Fee Information

If you have been deported or removed, or unlawfully returned to the United States without admission after a previous removal or unlawful presence, you may file this form to obtain consent to reapply for admission to the United States.

File with the USCIS office in the United States indicated in the Form I-212 instructions.

If you need to file both Form I-212 and Form I-601, file them together at the Lockbox address specified in the Form I-601 instructions.

If USCIS Doha decides that exceptional and compelling humanitarian circumstances warrant filing your Form I-601 with USCIS Doha, you can also file Form I-212 with Form I-601.

If you file Form I-601 and Form I-212 together, be sure to bring the correct filing fee for each separate form.

Please see the information below to file for other immigration benefits this office does not provide.

Qatar Airways and Cardless Launch 2 Credit Cards. Here's All the Info.

Nearly a month ago, Qatar Airways and Cardless teased the launch of two Privilege Club credit cards for U.S. applicants — due to debut in May 2024. This announcement was undoubtedly a big deal for Avios collectors and Qatar Airways flyers. And true to schedule, Qatar Airways' two Cardless credit cards are now open for applications.

Here's everything you need to know about the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card  and the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card .

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card

We'll start from the top and introduce you to the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card first. This matte metal card is Qatar's most premium product, commanding a $499 annual fee.

Welcome offer

New applicants can take advantage of a two-tiered welcome bonus worth up to 50,000 Qatar Airways Avios: 25,000 Avios after the first transaction and an additional 25,000 Avios after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days. Cardholders will also receive 150 Qpoints after meeting the minimum spending requirements.

Based on recent redemptions, AwardWallet users have enjoyed 2.57¢ apiece from their Avios . In other words, this 50,000-Avios offer is worth $1,285 toward award travel.

Those who joined the waitlist should apply for the card by June 6, 2024 (within 30 days from the launch date) and meet the minimum spending requirements to earn an additional 10,000 Qatar Airways Avios. This supplemental bonus is worth about $257.

Applications are open here .

Qatar Qsuite business class

Earning categories

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card features two bonused earning categories and one catch-all. Unless you frequently book travel through Qatar Airways or dine out, earning a substantial number of Avios on everyday spending will be rather difficult.

The categories are broken down as follows:

  • 5X Avios per $1 spent at Qatar Airways.
  • 3X Avios per $1 spent at restaurants (excluding bars, nightclubs, coffee shops, and convenience stores).
  • 1X Avios per $1 spent on everything else.

Additionally, cardholders will earn two Qpoints (Qatar’s status-earning metric) for every $1,500 spent on the card. More on this shortly.

Cardholder benefits

Like most premium credit cards or travel rewards cards , the Qatar Visa Infinite Card offers several perks to try to justify the steep price tag.

Visa Infinite benefits temporarily excluded, the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card offers three main perks for cardholders: complimentary Privilege Club Gold status for the first year, earning two Qpoints per $1,500 spent, and a lump sum of Qpoints to help you requalify for status next year.

Complimentary Oneworld Sapphire-equivalent Gold status is a valuable benefit for travelers. Aside from several perks on Qatar Airways flights such as free preferred seating, 75% tier bonus on flights, and access to priority services, but you'll also enjoy lounge access. And as a Oneworld Sapphire, you can access American Airlines Admirals Clubs — even on wholly domestic U.S. itineraries.

Plus, after meeting the minimum spending requirements, you'll also collect a lump sum of 150 Qpoints. This means you'll automatically unlock Privilege Club Silver status for next year (assuming you don't requalify for Gold) and earn over half the 270 Qpoints necessary for Gold status.

Doha Hamad Airport Garden.

When considering the Visa Infinite benefits built into the card, the value proposition gets a little better. Just for carrying the Qatar Visa Infinite Card, you're entitled to the following (plus a lot more):

  • Access the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection .
  • Visa Infinite concierge services.
  • Global Entry or TSA PreCheck statement credit to offset your application fee .
  • Car rental collision damage waiver insurance .
  • Travel accident insurance.
  • Trip cancellation or interruption reimbursement.
  • Trip delay reimbursement .

Card providers can elect to offer additional Visa Infinite perks, such as airport lounge access through Priority Pass. Unfortunately, we haven't seen anything from Cardless stating that it's going to offer this.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card

The second installment to the Qatar Airways credit card portfolio for U.S. applicants is the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card. This card is lighter on benefits and carries a more reasonable $99 annual fee.

Like its more expensive stablemate, the Qatar Visa Signature Card features a two-tiered welcome offer. New applicants can earn up to 40,000 Avios: 20,000 Avios after the first transaction and an additional 20,000 Avios after spending $3,000 in the first 90 days.

Based on what AwardWallet users redeem Avios for, the full bonus is worth $1,028. And if you joined the waitlist, apply by June 6, 2024 , and meet the minimum spending requirements, you can earn an additional 5,000 Avios. The supplemental bonus is worth an extra $128 toward award travel.

Qatar Airways plane underbelly.

The Qatar Visa Signature Card is valuable for spending on Qatar Airways, fair for using at restaurants, and mediocre for everything else, as made evident by the following earning categories:

  • 4X Avios per $1 spent at Qatar Airways.
  • 2X Avios per $1 spent at restaurants (excluding bars, nightclubs, coffee shops, and convenience stores).

For every $2,000 you spend on the card, you'll also collect two Qpoints.

Related: The Best Credit Cards for Dining and Restaurants

The biggest disappointment with the Qatar Visa Signature Card is the limited benefits. Cardholders can take advantage of two primary benefits: complimentary Silver status for the first year and earning two Qpoints per $2,000 spent on the card.

Silver status is marginally valuable, courtesy of discounted seat selection, a 25% tier bonus, access to priority services, plus lounge access at Hamad International Airport (DOH). Thus, unless you fly Qatar Airways through its hub in Doha, Oneworld Ruby-equivalent Privilege Club Silver status won't offer much by way of benefits.

But for those who value Privilege Club elite status, the spending perk can help you inch incrementally closer to Qatar Airways elite status. If you are trying to earn Privilege Club elite status or are considering shifting your loyalty to Privilege Club, the bonus Qpoints can come in handy. However, earning status from spending alone presents poor value.

Plus, as a Visa Signature product, cardholders can access the following benefits (plus a lot more):

  • Book stays through the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection.
  • Discounted Shipt membership.
  • Discounted show tickets through Sofar.
  • Visa Signature rental car privileges.
  • Visa Signature concierge services.
  • Savings on award-winning wine and golf.

Who Is Eligible for a Qatar Airways Credit Card?

Cardless has developed its own risk model internally. Thus, you may or may not be eligible for either of the Qatar Airways credit cards based on several factors that issuers don't normally take into account.

Additionally, based on the language on the Cardless website, there may be a one-card-per-lifetime rule . Bear this in mind before you apply for any of its cards in case you're ineligible to apply for another.

However, ensure that if you do apply and receive approval, you keep your credit card active . According to a spokesperson for Cardless, the issuer “endeavor[s] to approve customers that show repeated engagement with their brand partners.” In other words, Cardless is leaving the door open to future approvals if you don't neglect your cards. But then again, this statement is very vague.

General excitement of a new way to earn Avios aside, the Qatar Airways credit cards leave a bit to be desired — unless you value Privilege Club elite status and plan to use either card to expedite your path to it.

Let's start with the Qatar Visa Infinite Card. The card's benefits are primarily defined by Privilege Club elite status. Simply, unless you retain Gold status after your complimentary year expires, or keep Silver status, you won't enjoy any benefits on Qatar Airways or its Oneworld partners. Outside of that, the card's main suite of ancillary benefits comes courtesy of its Visa Infinite designation. Remember, the card carries a $499 annual fee.

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card has an annual fee that's $400 lighter and offers a smaller array of benefits. Complimentary year of Silver status aside, the card presents few reasons to warrant keeping in your wallet. Like its more expensive counterpart, cardholders can leverage Visa benefits afforded by the Visa Signature program, but that's about it unless you requalify for status.

Even worse, neither card offers an outsized welcome bonus. Compared to other Avios earning cards, such as the British Airways Visa Signature ® Card , it's clear there are greener pastures elsewhere. Not only will you earn 85,000 bonus Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening on the British Airways Visa Card, but you'll also enjoy Visa Signature benefits and more for a $95 annual fee. Then, you can move those Avios freely and instantly to your Qatar account if that's where you want to use them.

Thus, unless you're serious about earning and retaining Qatar Airways Privilege Club status and you spend heavily on Qatar flights (netting the high earning rates), it's likely worth passing on the new Qatar Airways credit cards. It's simply a function of comparatively mediocre welcome offers and limited long-term benefits that fail to justify the annual fee. There exist other cards at the same price point offering more benefits and/or better earning structures.
