This GBS course will provide you with opportunities to test your knowledge and understanding through informal formative assessments. Formative assessments will be completed before your formal summative assessment, which will determine your final marks.

Each module normally contains at least one piece of formative assessment from which you will receive feedback from your course team. Formative assessments are purely for developmental purposes and do not count towards your final module mark. They are designed to help you to gain more knowledge and confidence in the module material and approaches to formal assessment. Students who do not engage with informal assessments often struggle with Foundation Year progression, as well as with the academic levels above.

The formal summative assessment usually occurs towards the end of each module. Assessment methods may include written examinations and a range of coursework, including reports, portfolios, essays, and presentations. The marks awarded for summative assessments count towards your final module mark. Assessment methods at GBS are reviewed annually and may be updated in consultation with students, for example in response to student or External Examiner feedback. An External Examiner is an independent academic expert from another higher education provider, and they are appointed by Canterbury Christ Church University to provide external assurance regarding the academic standards of your course.

Standard Entry Requirements (Under 21 years old) Minimum 80 UCAS tariff points or 60 Credit Ofqual qualification at level 3.

Logo

It’s my first year here. I chose this university because it gave me the opportunity to have choice. I study two days per week - it’s very flexible. It makes it easy to study.

Logo

The campus is very new and comfortable. One of the best I saw. I like because I can work – I have a child and I can study and I can work and be with my family. This is very good for me. Because I have lived in this country only second year and English is a new language for me, when I study here I can teach my child at home new words.

Logo

My favourite part of studying here is because its close and the class sizes are small. I can have more interaction with the teacher and ask questions. I enjoy learning here - the teachers are friendly and they explain everything well.

On the 3 rd of March, a transformative event unfolded, marking a significant milestone in the realm of leadership and research collaboration between existing students and alumni of Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). It was the inaugural Westford Leadership Bootcamp in partnership with CCCU, UK.  This momentous occasion, enriched by the fusion of expertise and innovation, promised to be a beacon guiding aspiring leaders and researchers towards unparalleled success.

The boot camp commenced with an electrifying keynote address by the distinguished speaker Mr. Inus JV Rensburg, an expert in Logistics, Supply Chain, and Education. Mr. Rensburg’s wealth of experience, and seamlessly transition from business ventures to academia, captivated the audience. With a fervent dedication to aligning curricula with industry demands, fostering learner-centric environments, and enhancing soft skills, his insights served as a guiding light for MBA students navigating the intricate landscape of research and business project selection.

Following Mr. Rensburg’s insightful session, Dr. Ravi Harsha Perera, an esteemed Westford DBA alumnus, took the stage to delve into the nuances of business projects. With a stellar career spanning 15 years in IT and Telecom Engineering management, Dr. Perera’s expertise resonated deeply with the audience. His impassioned plea for meticulous attention and unwavering commitment in research endeavors struck a chord, reinforcing the significance of perseverance and dedication on the path to academic excellence.

The pinnacle of the event was the riveting interactive session, designed to hone participants’ communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership skills. Engaging in dynamic team activities, students were propelled into an immersive learning experience, where theoretical knowledge seamlessly merged with practical application. The palpable energy in the room attested to the profound impact of experiential learning in fostering holistic development.
