Holiday booking sorted

I went on wrb page to book my apartment in Lanzarote and I wrnt to make payment it wouldnt allow me to put my address in fir billing purpose. I came out of page and said to myself I get my niece later to sort it out fir ne. If it seems to good to be true it probably is!

If only you had checked on Travel Republic before booking with them you could have avoided all those issues. There are thousands of complaints about Travel Republic all across Tripadvisor forums. It's too late now as you have experienced what they are like and now started yet another topic on them, but using the search box above the question on any forum and typing in Travel Republic and choosing "All Forums" to search would have brought up all the existing topics on them, full of complaints.

Even a quick Google search of a phrase like "Travel Republic Reviews" or "Travel Republic Complaints" would have resulted in many topics to read. Then they could have been avoided.

I do hope you will think about using TripAdvisor for its intended purpose, to research places, holiday destinations, and travel companies so you can organise the best holidays. Here's a link to the forums homepage for future use -

If you'd have read the terms and conditions instead of just agreeing to them you would have known and understood what you were offering to buy. Travel Republic are not unusual in the fact that most of what they sell are individual elements. It's the same for most OTAs. The clue that they're priced individually is the giveaway, even if you don't bother to read the T&Cs.

I'm afraid the earlier replies are correct. It's a common complaint, and it's not restricted to Travel Republic.

It really is vital to read all of the details, including the T&C's, and to look into any company before parting with any money. I really hope you will learn form this experience, and not get caught out again.

Just had a nightmare with our booking made through travel republic, only way to solve the issues were over the phone.

Over an hour on the phone at 42 pence per minute and still not resolved. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

Do they not have a cheaper method of contact? Did you check out 'Say to no to 0870' or whatever the site is called?

If its costing 42p a minute that's down to your service provider, not Travel Republic. They don't have Premium rate numbers.

Whether it's taking advantage of credit card perks, earning bonus miles or saving money, the best flight booking site can vary depending on your situation and willingness to get creative. Let's take a look at six of the best sites to book flights and when each is the best option.

The best flight booking sites

1. google flights.

For ease, speed and features, Google Flights is arguably the best website for flight searches. Search results appear almost instantly. Filters let you narrow down to nonstop options, select a subset of airlines, limit by price or factor in the price of a bag. Similarly, you can use Google Flights filters to avoid certain airlines, multi-stop itineraries, long layovers, early flights or pretty much whatever you might want to avoid.

You can easily check flexible dates, and if you're flexible on where you go you can use the Explore map to see prices for a variety of destinations for certain dates, a certain month or anytime in the next six months.

Google Flights partners with hundreds of airlines and online travel agencies (OTAs) to pull current flight prices. That way you don't have to search each of these sites to be able to see the options. Once you select your preferred trip, Google Flights links you to the top booking options for actually booking your flight — including the airline itself and the best OTA booking options.

The downsides of Google Flights are few. One is the lack of Southwest flight prices. Although Southwest flight schedules will show in flight search results, Southwest flight prices aren't available. That's because Southwest chooses to publish flight prices only on its website.

Another downside is that Google Flights doesn't always show the cheapest prices — particularly for international flights. That means it's worth double-checking prices on another site before booking through Google Flights.

Like Google Flights, Kayak searches hundreds of other websites and flight booking platforms to find the best deal. Kayak generally doesn't let you book flights directly. However, one benefit of Kayak is the streamlined process. Rather than having to click through several pages to confirm your selection, clicking "view deal" on the results page can take you right to the cheapest booking option.

Also, some travelers may find Kayak's flexible date search a bit easier to work with as you can see results from several days in the search results — eliminating the need to check each day's results separately.

But perhaps the most important reason to use Kayak instead of Google Flights is that it can catch better deals. For example, we found a $550 round-trip flight from Los Angeles to Barcelona using Google Flights. So far, we've focused on ease in flight searching, and that's going to be enough for many travelers. However, now let's add in some additional elements to consider when choosing the best flight booking site: earning rewards and saving by booking packages. Expedia excels at both of these.

Through the new One Key rewards program , travelers can earn 0.2% in OneKeyCash from flight bookings made through Expedia. That's not much, but it can stack on top of the awards you earn from the airline and those that you earn on your credit card purchase.

Even better, you'll earn credits toward One Key elite status by booking your flight through Expedia. As you climb up the tiers, you'll unlock up to 20% savings on hotels, get hotel upgrades, priority support and even price drop protection.

Plus, Expedia boasts that travelers can "save up to 30%" when bundling a hotel with a flight booking — although actual discounts are likely to vary.

4. Capital One Travel

For many Capital One cardholders, Capital One Travel might just be the best flight booking site. Part of this is to take advantage of cardholder benefits.

For example, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card holders earn 5x Capital One miles when booking flights through the Capital One Travel portal. Plus, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card holders get up to $300 off travel booked through the Capital One Travel portal each cardholder year.

Also, Capital One Travel can help you truly get the best price for your flight. Capital One partnered with travel data company Hopper to show suggestions about when it's the best time to book.

Capital One backs up these recommendations with money. If you book a flight through Capital One Travel when Hopper recommends doing so, you'll get up to a $50 credit toward future travel if the price drops within the next 10 days.

Would you be willing to book a trip as two separate tickets in order to save money? That's the idea behind Kiwi. Instead of simply searching flights from your home airport to your destination, Kiwi checks all potential options to get between A and B. That could mean taking a bus or train from your home city to another to catch a flight to your destination. Or, Kiwi might pair a low-cost domestic flight with a cheap international flight from another city to lower your total cost.

Protect your upfront travel expenses by booking with a card that has travel insurance or by purchasing a separate policy .

For example, when we priced out a round-trip flight from Phoenix to Tokyo, the cheapest option when booked as one ticket cost $1,353 round-trip — and that's with an overnight stay in Vancouver.

Pricing out the same itinerary and dates through Kiwi drops the price to just $789 round-trip. The secret? Booking this as two round-trip flights: One from Phoenix to Los Angeles on Frontier and a separate round-trip from Los Angeles to Tokyo on Zipair.

Keep in mind that there are risks with booking separate tickets to get where you want to go. If a delay or cancellation causes you to miss your connection, the second airline/bus/train company isn't obligated to honor your ticket and rebook you on the next option. ITA Matrix is a very powerful and ultra-customizable search platform for finding exactly the flight itinerary you want — whether that's booking a longer layover, avoiding certain aircraft types or booking nerdy trips such as the Alaska Milk Run .

The catch: Travelers can't actually book flights through ITA Matrix. And, unlike Google Flights, ITA Matrix doesn't even link to the best flight booking site for that itinerary. Instead, travelers are left to attempt to re-create the same itinerary through another flight booking website — which can be hard in the case of certain complex itineraries.

Enter BookWithMatrix. Travelers can copy-paste their perfect itinerary from ITA Matrix into BookWithMatrix to get bookable links through the airline or select OTAs.

Feedback for TravelRepublic online team: I didn’t go ahead with reserving online (hence Karen rung me back) was because the booking terms displayed “Flexible Hotel changes up to Wed 02 Apr 2025” was way too vague! It seemed to suggest only changes allowed, but in fact it can be cancelled up til 2 April (minus the deposit). Much more clarity should be provided (on par with other online travel agents) to ensure people confident to proceed with bookings online.

Seamless experience with Travel Republic

Booking process seamless from start to finish. Very happy with the transfers to & from the airport as this is sometimes a bit of a pain. Also easy to add on extra luggage. I book with Travel republic for cost

I book with Travel republic for cost, they tend to have more budget options. I have used many times to book separate hotels rather than a package which tend to be more with other competitors. Although this time upon booking there was a non- refundable booking fee added. I normally like to have a couple of options booked with a flexible cancellation policy, so I can choose the most suitable option. However I couldn’t do that this time without losing the booking fee if I cancelled.

Can I cancel my Travel Republic Booking?

Do you have to cancel your Travel Republic booking?

Yes, you can cancel your booking but you are not guaranteed any refund for the money you spent in making the original reservation. Because most people choose to pay the low deposit choice Travel Republic offers, they must make their accommodation bookings at least 15 days prior to departure; and the remaining balance on these discounted rooms is due 14 days prior to departure, and is non-refundable. Some hotels require the full payment at the time of booking if it is a discounted deal and are therefore also not refundable. In addition to keeping your deposit, you have to pay a cancellation charge of £40. 

With the exception of the aforementioned discounted non-refundable hotel rates, the following charges will apply to all hotel only bookings:

More than 7 days before departure

You will be charged with a €40 cancellation fee, or you can choose to pay the value of the booking as a whole if it is lower than the cancellation charge. However, if you make a new accommodation booking within 30 days having cancelled more than 7 days before departure, you will be provided with a refund of €15

7 days or less before departure

You will be charged with 100% of the booking value. If you have cancelled 7 days or less before departure contact Travel Republic’s Sales Team to see if any refund is applicable.

How can I change my Travel Republic booking?

If you purchased the non-refundable rate from a hotel or other provider, full payment is required at the time of booking. Because this is a promotional rate, no changes at all can be made to your booking once it is confirmed. However if you wish to amend the booking after its confirmed in regards to your flight, please contact Travel Republic’s customer service who will then inform your airline provider of your change request and wait for a response whether or not it’s possible to make the changes. It is not always possible to amend your booking, especially if it is close to the departure time.

Do you know that you can change the name of the person who is travelling and sell your own holiday to someone else? That way you might be able to recover much more than simply cancelling your booking. Travel Republic allow you to change the name of the passenger for your holiday for a €25 fee. You are also responsible for paying any of the fees that the accommodations or airline subject to you.

How can I change the name on a Travel Republic reservation?

Step 1: Go to Travel Republic’s website and log into your “My Booking”

Step 2: Log in using your flight booking reference and name

Step 3: Submit a Customer Support Request and request the changes you would like to make, such as a name change

“It's not necessarily about just getting out of the house anymore,” said Sydney Stanback, Global Insights and Trends lead at Pinterest, which has seen more than 1 billion travel searches and more than 10 billion travel saves over the past year. 

Sure, many of the usual suspects are once again among the most popular destinations across multiple search engines this year, but she said this summer, “It's more so about traveling with intention.” 

According to NerdWallet’s Summer 2024 Travel Report , 45% of Americans plan to take a trip requiring a hotel stay or flight this summer with expenses averaging just under $3,600. A fifth of those travelers expect to go into debt to pay for vacations.

Here’s what to consider when booking a summer trip, including where to go, when to travel and how to save:

What is the best place to travel in summer? 

The answer is subjective, especially this summer.

“Everyone's kind of choosing their own adventure based off of what their needs are for travel,” Stanback said. 

Pinterest’s Summer 2024 Travel Report found summer travelers are most interested in adventure, exploring mysterious or uncharted destinations, and rest. Searches for “quiet life” jumped 530%, but that doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone.

“My mother actually just took a yoga retreat to Panama,” Stanback said. “That's what she needed to do in order to get the rest that she needed and the well-being that she needed. But for me, when I think of rest and restoration, I simply think about going to a beach spa and just sitting and being by myself.”

Solo travel remains popular. Solo travel searches reached an all-time high in Google in January, but again, not for everyone.

“For Gen Z specifically, that need is to gather and reconnect with their community because they were in isolation for so long and during very meaningful moments in their lives,” Stanback said. She noted group travel and road trips are of keen interest to Gen Z.

“It's not necessarily about traveling and going out and going to restaurants and going to bars and clubs,” she added. “We actually see that a lot with younger generations. They’re kind of stepping away from that and really considering their well-being when they're taking time off.”

Expedia’s Summer Outlook and Google Flights identified the same cities among their most searched summer 2024 destinations based on flights, though rankings varied by platform.

Allianz Partners found slightly different results in their analysis of “more than six million flight itineraries for trips between five and eight days in length for travel booked between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day.”

Instead of LA and Vegas, Allianz named Boston and Honolulu among this summer’s top five domestic destinations. Internationally, San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; Oranjestad, Aruba; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, made Allianz’s top five, instead of Rome, Paris and Tokyo.

“I am expecting crowds to rival last summer's in popular overseas cities,” Expedia’s travel expert Melanie Fish said, noting how places like Barcelona and Venice are trying to curb overtourism. “They're trying fees and if that's not enough, they're going to have to go even further.”

How can I save on a trip?

Summer trips are already costly for many travelers. “Americans with household income under $100,000 accounted for nearly half (46%) of intended leisure travel spend in summer 2023,” according to Deloitte’s Facing travel’s future report from April.

Expedia’s Fish shared five tips for booking summer 2024 vacations:

◾ Bundle your trip. Booking airfare and a hotel at the same time can earn you deep discounts.

◾ Travel midweek or later in the summer if it's an option. You'll save money and save yourself from fighting crowds. 

• ◾ Fly early in the day … The early bird who takes the first flight of the day will typically get a better price and a lower chance of delays and cancellations. ◾ Book once, earn twice. You can stack rewards from your travel credit card (and) your airline.◾ Just go. Don't pressure yourself to create the trip of a lifetime … Do it in a bite-sized chunk if possible. 

'Expensive in every way': What travelers should expect this summer

How far ahead should I book travel?

“The sweet spot is now,” Fish said. “We're within that 21- to 60-day pre-travel window to save around 15% on airfare, so now is the time to plan. That means ready, set, but maybe wait until August to actually go.”

She said travelers can save an average of $250 on international flights if they wait until the peak summer travel season passes. 

“It's 15% cheaper on average to fly domestically in August versus June, 30% cheaper to fly to Europe in late summer, and 55% cheaper to fly to Mexico and the Caribbean in August,” she said. “Of course, August is peak hurricane season , so that has something to do with that price dip.”

Barron Trump, former President Donald J. Trump’s youngest son who has stayed out of the spotlight since his father entered politics, will not serve as one of Florida’s delegates to the Republican National Convention, the office of Melania Trump announced on Friday.

In a statement released two days after Barron, 18, was selected to be an at-large delegate by the Florida Republican Party , Mrs. Trump’s office said that Barron was “honored” to be chosen but that he “regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments.”

The Trump campaign referred a request for comment to a spokeswoman for Mrs. Trump, who did not immediately respond to questions about what those commitments might be.

Barron, who will graduate from high school next week and who plans to attend college in the fall, has largely not participated in his father’s political career.

Mrs. Trump has fiercely guarded her son’s privacy, even as some of his older siblings have been in the spotlight, campaigning for their father during the Republican primary while he and Mrs. Trump were largely absent from the trail.

Hours before Mrs. Trump’s office released its statement, Mr. Trump suggested in a radio interview that Barron, whom he called “good-looking” and “on the tall side,” was among his political advisers.

“He’s really been a great student. And he does like politics,” Mr. Trump said on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT in Philadelphia. “It’s sort of funny. He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do.’”

Barron’s older brothers, Donald Jr. and Eric, campaigned for their father this year during the Republican nominating contest, and both have become popular political figures in their own right. Both of them, as well as their sister Tiffany were among the 41 at-large delegates chosen by the Florida Republican Party for the national convention in July. Another sister, Ivanka Trump, who has not taken part in her father’s political ventures since she left the White House, was not.

The Florida Republican Party did not immediately respond to questions about how Barron had been chosen as a delegate.

All four of Barron’s siblings gave speeches at the party’s conventions in 2016 and 2020, when Barron was still a minor. The Trump campaign and Mrs. Trump’s office did not respond to questions about whether Barron would attend or otherwise take part in the 2024 convention in some fashion, and Mr. Trump did not address them in his radio interview.

Mr. Trump has said for months that his wife would join him on the campaign trail, though she has remained absent from rallies, speeches and victory celebrations. She did attend a fund-raiser last month for the Log Cabin Republicans, a group of L.G.B.T. conservatives.
