Cruise personaliser and account details

By gazza999 , October 12, 2019 in P&O Cruises ( UK )

Cool Cruiser

I have cruised many times with other cruise lines, and have recently booked my first cruise with P&O.

After registering for a Cruise personaliser account, and entering the reference number, my booking details are shown.

However,  After registering for an account on the P&O website (with the same email address), when looking at upcoming cruises, it just says:  " We are unable to show you any cruise information at this time..This might be because you have not yet entered a valid URN (unique reference number)"    It does not seem to have linked the two systems together and I cannot find anywhere to enter the URN.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

When I logged onto the main p&o site earlier it said there was a problem with the cruise personaliser and they are working to fix it. I try to not go on there at weekends as its normally down plus my hubby has now banned me 😁

Have another try as there has been some strange messages coming out of there in the last few days, I had been trying

to book flight seats for January but the site was down most of yesterday but managed in the end but not before some

strange messages coming back about my site was not secure and people were trying to hack my computer!

I had this trouble some time ago and this is how I resolved it - log on to pocruises.com/myaccount - you will find the space to enter your account number (URN) under 'my details'  towards the bottom of the page.  Your account number (URN) is your Peninsular Club number - mine starts POFA****D but when entering it I have to omit the PO and just enter FA then the 5 numbers and D.

All works perfectly now!

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, but as this is my first cruise with P&O, I am not yet a member of the Peninsular club.  Apparently you have to spend 15 nights on board before you become a member, you can't join prior to your first cruise like other cruise lines.

Is there any other way of finding my URN ?

You should be able to create a P&O account, simply go onto the P&O website and register to create an account, and follow the instructions to set up your own account.

I have a P&O account but apparently you are unable to manually create a Peninsular Club account

I found my URN, its all good.

Thanks for your replies 🙂

Glad you got it sorted.  Sadly, P&O IT is really the pits.  There are regular problems with Cruise Personaliser and many people agree that the new P&O website is dreadful in many ways.  If I go into "My Account" at present and look under "My Cruises", it says that my next cruise is in 2021, when I have one booked for 2020!

Best all check your emails.

Cruise Personaliser has been scrapped and a new site where everyone will have to register called

"My P&O Cruises" will quote "be up and running shortly"

Stunning !!!!  As we are among those who are on the Trans Atlantic Azura cruise on Friday doing back to backs

and were on a Thomas Cook flight home.

Of course we have heard nothing regarding the rearranged flight from P&O.

It has not been scrapped yet, I have just been on it and it's working perfectly well.

on Friday the 11th October personaliser was taking bookings for excursions and then saying "technical fault try again later". i tried 3 times before i got the booking confirmed, then found money taken 3 times. If you have booked any excursions check your bank, customer service were not very helpful

I thought that the Royal Caribbean website was pretty awful, but apparently it's not that bad 🙂

Sorry Andrew but that is an insult towards ‘Pits’ it’s much worse than that.

Good for you sunshine.

Quote "until we switch to My P&O Cruises you won't be able to make online bookings"

Some use for those of us who will be trying to re-book our flight seats when P&O eventually get round to informing us what the new flights actually are !!

Never mind though eh?  we only sail in  21 HOURS TIME

I do like cruising with P & O despite the best efforts of their IT department doing their best to ruin things.

Their online booking system used to work perfectly - the new one does not.

Cruise personaliser worked brilliantly - the new ‘My Account‘ does not. My cruises which I booked whilst onboard in September are not showing.

i would say “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it’

It might be worth going into your accounts (whilst you still can) and down loading your cruise history or printing off a hard copy. When Princess cruises re vamped their system a few years ago, many passengers  lost all or some of their cruise history and it took many months for it to be sorted and their lost cruises reinstated.

Good idea thanks 😊

CP is down today.  Thought it was me, but just found it on Twitter.  They are working on it!!

It was working around lunchtime because I printed e-tickets and labels.

Still not working for me.

58 minutes ago, jeanlyon said: Still not working for me.

Jean try using the manage your booking link at the bottom of the page not the already booked at the top that is how we have been getting onto it see if it works for you.

Found the problem.  It had changed all my details AGAIN to our single friend's who travels with us.  This is about the 7th time it has done it.  I logged in as my husband and there I was, but with her birthdate, her phone number and address.  We are on a linked booking and have been for years.  It started happening last year.  Drives me nuts.

She has her own cabin, so I have no idea why it does this.

Working for me at the minute, waiting to get flights details and accommodation confirmed, but it has a habit of changing my husband's and my passport numbers!!

I have now booked two cruises but have no account number?

Cool Cruiser

Im a bit confused by this as I have booked a cruise on Iona and a cruise on Aurora but both times it cames asking me (online bookings) for my account number (which I presume is my loyalty number).. But unless I'm misunderstanding it you dont get a number until 15 days cruising have been completed and then they do it atomatically.. It all seems a bit backwards.

I am now just a bit concerned I need the number though as the Iona cruise is 14 or 15 nights and the Aurora 24 nights.

Wouldnt it make more sense to have an account I can log into and see all my cruises like every other company before I sail. Or am I getting this completely wrong.. I have no mention of a (peninsula account I assume) number on the invoice (which the site seems to say I will have??) but I did fill out the join section weeks ago but nothing ever happened.

Share on other sites, happy afloat.

If I'm not mistaken your account number should appear on your booking confirmation.

It's alpha numerical and mine is two letters, five numbers and a final letter, eg

My wife's follows the same pattern so I'm guessing they're all similar.

Hope this helps.

I think you mean your peninsular number?

We sat down with the next cruise booking rep on Arvia and had ours added to our booking on the ship

They also backdated it to before we got on the cruise and they automatically applied 5 per cent discount to our cabin bill at the end of the cruise

Prior to that I had tried twice unsuccessfully to get a peninsular number by email

Each of your bookings should have a reference number which is six digits made up of letters or letters and numbers, if you go to the P&O login you would then use the number to access your cruises, here is a link:  https://my.pocruises.com/mycruise/login

That’s your booking reference, the OP was referring to their account number which is in fact your P & O Loyalty number.

Ours is on our booking confirmation under the info about the cruise as below:- on the same lines on the opposite side of the page is the pricing info.

Title / Last Name:

First / Middle Name:

Age at Sailing: My Account Number:

If you haven’t got your P & O booking confirmation and only your confirmation from your TA you need to ask your TA for it. If the account number isn’t on your booking confirmation then query with your TA or P&O if you booked direct, but as suggested it might be you haven’t yet qualified for the Peninsular Club as haven’t yet sailed for 15 days. You have to have actually sailed and not just booked to qualify, but certainly query it.

That is correct.  It is easy to access each cruise booking separately using the booking number, so no need of anything else at that stage.  The booking number gets you into all the things you need/want pre-cruise, such as excursion bookings as well as any access which may be available for restaurants and other things you can book direct pre-cruise.

As mentioned by amajaa, you will need a P&O booking confirmation, which gives your booking number for each cruise and will be sent via an agent if booked through one, (so will take a few days, perhaps more, after you book).

Yes, go down to the bottom of the PO website where it says “ Manage my booking” and enter your booking number to access your cruise.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry for  confusion..Nothing to do with booking ref..I assume account number on the website means Pennisular number which I dont have - they have now goven it me over the phone but even when booking a third it still doesnt accept it (I assume its because I havent actually sailed yet on any P&O)

Yes, you only formally become a Peninsular member after you have completed your cruise, so before then you will be treated as someone who has not travelled with P&O if you make another new booking, no matter how many booked cruises you have in the pipeline.  Fair enough though as you may not travel on the cruise for some reason, you could cancel for instance.

It is the same regards going up in a Peninsular club level.  For instance the "perks" you get for a higher level are only available on the cruise after you have completed a cruise, so even completing part of your cruise to the level of the number of points you would need for the next level, the upgrade will not take place until you have completed the whole cruise, even if it is a long one.  I think there may possibly be recognition on completion of a sector of a world cruise, if you remain on the ship beyond that, but otherwise it would have to be a separate cruise, or one you have booked back to back.

Hope that helps

History of P&O Cruises

The story of P&O Cruises began in 1837 when the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company was founded by Brodie McGhie Willcox and Arthur Anderson. Originally operating as a mail and passenger service, the company’s inaugural voyage took place in the same year, with a paddle steamer sailing from London to Spain and Portugal.

Fast forward to 1840, and the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company merged with the Oriental Steam Navigation Company to form the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O). This merger marked a significant turning point for the company, as it expanded its operations to include routes to India , Australia, and the Far East.

Over the years, P&O Cruises continued to grow and innovate, cementing its position as a leading force in the cruise industry. It introduced modern steamships with enhanced passenger amenities, such as private cabins, dining saloons, and first-class lounges, offering passengers a new level of comfort and luxury.

During World War II, many of P&O Cruises’ ships were requisitioned by the British government for military use. However, after the war, the company bounced back, modernizing its fleet and resuming its passenger services.

In the 1970s, P&O Cruises underwent a transformation, shifting its focus to leisure cruising. The iconic ship Canberra, dubbed the “White Funnel” due to its distinctive exterior, was introduced in 1961 and became the flagship of P&O Cruises. This marked the beginning of a new era for the company.

In the following decades, P&O Cruises expanded its fleet and introduced new ships, each more luxurious than the last. The company embraced innovation, incorporating state-of-the-art amenities and facilities to enhance the passenger experience. P&O Cruises became synonymous with leisure travel, providing unforgettable vacation experiences to people from all walks of life.

In recent years, P&O Cruises has continued to evolve and adapt to changing consumer preferences. The company has focused on sustainability and responsible tourism, implementing environmentally friendly practices to minimize its impact on the environment.

Today, P&O Cruises operates a fleet of modern and elegant ships, offering a wide range of itineraries to destinations around the world. With a commitment to delivering exceptional service, luxurious accommodations, and exciting onboard experiences, P&O Cruises remains a trusted and highly regarded name in the cruising industry.

As P&O Cruises looks to the future, it continues to innovate and push the boundaries of what a cruise vacation can offer. With a rich history spanning over 180 years, P&O Cruises has a legacy of excellence and a vision for creating unforgettable memories for every passenger who steps on board.
