Remove the chicken from the pouch, discard liquid and slice into thin strips. - Pro tip: heating the chicken ahead of time will cut down the cook time and get you oozing, melty cheese in a hurry. Follow package heating instructions, for best results. 4. Assemble the quesadillas: Place shredded cheese on one tortilla, followed by sliced chicken, sautéed mixture, more cheese and top with a second tortilla. 5. Cook quesadilla in an oiled sauté pan on medium heat until both sides are golden brown, crunchy and the filling is heated through. 6. Make Your Own! Total Time: 25 Minutes 1. Preheat oven to 450°F. 2. Remove chicken thighs from pouch and place flat side (skin side) up on a lined sheet pan. Reserve the extra marinade from the pouch. 3. Heat chicken thighs for 12 to 15 minutes or until thighs have caramelized and are heated through. - Pro tip: set your oven to broil for the last 2 minutes to get the thighs extra golden, but watch them closely! 4. Favorite Foods To Get At Kwik Trip

Since there are still a disappointingly few number of Kwik Trip/Kwik Star locations in Illinois to visit, I satisfy my Kwik Trip fix every time we go to our family cabin in Wisconsin. Yes, the store has a decent alcohol section, but primarily we go there for one thing, and it's not gas...it's donuts.

I'm pretty sure my family is physically unable to enjoy time spent at the cabin without having these Kwik Trip bakery items on hand:

• Glazers and "sprinkle donuts" as my kids call them.
• Cinnamon Rolls
• Blueberry Dunkers

Since we love their donuts so much, I was highly bummed to find out that in 2019 Kwik Trip introduced a limited edition  Glazer-flavored potato chip that I totally missed out on, but now they're doing it again with a new flavor twist...

Kwik Trip Introduces New Blueberry Dunker Potato Chips

Beginning May 18, 2024, Kwik Trip locations throughout Wisconsin and Illinois will feature a new rippled potato chip flavored like their famous Blueberry Dunkers.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports a recent Kwik Trip press release said;

We wanted this based off a popular item and, after taste testing a few options, the sweet and salty combination of the Blueberry Dunker was a real winner.

Now, I must warn you, at first sight these chips look mighty unappealing and like they are covered in mold,

but based on this YouTube video, they taste WAY better than they look.

Kwik Trip's Blueberry Dunker Potato Chips will only be available for a limited time, so you better snag some now while you still can. (Good thing I'm headed to Wisconsin in the next couple of weeks!)

We tried Kwik Trip Glazers potato chips to see what drink pairs best. Here's what we found

Kwik Trip made headlines this week with the debut of new Glazers potato chips.

In his article about the controversial new snack food , Shane Nyman asked if these daring chips pair best with coffee, soda or beer. That's a fair question.

If you haven't tried them yet, the chips are light on salty or even potato-y flavor. The main flavor is more like the sugary glaze on the doughnuts rather than the doughnuts themselves. The chips are mostly a sweetness delivery system. The bigger your sweet tooth, the more likely you are to enjoy them.

Most likely, culinary curmudgeons will decry these as another sign the apocalypse is near while adventurous eaters will enjoy the novelty of the sweet chip but move on to the next unexpected flavor combination.

But I suppose the Glazer-flavored chip could earn McRib-like cult status. If it does find a fiercely dedicated fan base, bringing back the limited-time snack could become  a thing.

And if you think I've already gotten way too serious reviewing a chip that started out as an April Fool's prank on social media, buckle up buttercup. I taste tested the chips with drinks for this story: coffee (Kwik Trip's Colombian blend), diet cola, regular cola and an amber-style lager.

The beer was the worst of the bunch. I hadn't tasted the chips before I chose the beer style and was expecting more sweet-salty balance in the chip. If I had known I would have picked a vanilla porter or milk stout.

The coffee was better than the beer. I must warn you that I've reached the age when I will order a cup of coffee with a sandwich at lunch, so take that under advisement.

The diet cola was a little better. A solid, meh.

The best drink was the full-bodied, sugar-laden cola. Who knew sugar could make something sweeter? If you're taking the calorie hit on these chips, go ahead and double-down with the cola of your choice. Just count it as a dessert.

Kwik Trip to debut new Blueberry Dunker-flavored chips

L A CROSSE, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials at Kwik Trip announced Monday morning that they will soon be debuting new Blueberry Dunker-flavored URGE potato chips.

According to a release from Kwik Trip , the La Crosse-headquartered company first released its Blueberry Dunker Donuts in 2013 and has decided to release a new chip flavor inspired by them after producing over nine million Blueberry Dunkers within the last year.

These will now be the second donut-inspired potato chips to be debuted by Kwik Trip. In 2019, the Glazers-flavored chips debuted and officials say they were a big hit among Kwik Trip guests and followers.

The Blueberry Dunker Chips will have a limited amount produced but are expected to start shipping to stores on May 18.

Exploring Unique Flavors: Kwik Trip’s Blueberry Glazer Ripple Chips

By now you've probably seen the news of a new, limited time-only product at Kwik Trips across the region. A new Kwik Trip Urge! brand ripple chip, flavored like -- wait for it -- donuts. Blueberry Glazer-flavored, in particular.

Before you either rush out to buy a bag OR say "gross," hear me out: Kwik Trip is brilliant.

Every brand struggles to break out of the pack. -- to have their own unique store brands. For example: "Kirkland" for Costco , "Four Brothers" for Coborns/Cash Wise , "Clancy's" for Aldi .

For Kwik Trip, they market their own snacks under the "Urge!" banner. And in a fun, unorthodox and brand consistent turn, Kwik Trip just rolled-out Ripple Chips in a sweet -- not savory -- flavor. They mimic the taste of KT's famous Blueberry Glazer donuts in a great co-branding synergy.

BUT ARE THEY ANY GOOD?

If you can't get past the idea that potato chips have to be savory, you're probably not going to like these Blueberry Glazer Ripple Chips. They are salty AND sweet.

And if you aren't okay with blueish/purplish (and dare I say, "greenish") foods, you're probably not going to like them either.

But let's say you're curious and a little adventurous, you're in for a treat.

At first crunch, you'll notice the same ripple chip texture and a whiff of deep fried potato chip goodness, just like any plain ripple chip. But that's where the similarities end.

These chips actually taste like Blueberry Glazers. They're sweet with just the right amount of salt. The chips capture the blueberry "baked good" taste in a slightly artificial way with hints of powder sugar glaze, sort of like if BooBerry cereal had a baby with ripple chips.

In other words, they nailed it.

But like it says on the bag, "This chip eats like dessert!"

HOW CAN YOU USE THEM IN OTHER WAYS?

Yes, I had them right out of the bag and liked them. I also had them as a side to some turkey hot dogs I had for dinner. They were a little sweeter than I expected, but still delicious with the dogs.

But let's riff on the dessert theme, shall we?

Who says you can't repurpose them?

Here are some ideas:

• Dip them in a little powder sugar and cream cheese frosting dip. For fewer calories, try making a dip out of plain greek yogurt mixed with sugar-free cheesecake pudding mix.
• Crumble them up over ice cream or yogurt for a nice crunch.
• Melt some white or traditional chocolate chips with some cocount oil and drizzle it on your chips. Chill for 10 minutes. If you have to put a name to it, call them Blueberry Glazer Nachos.
• Crumble some chips into crumbs for breading chicken tenders or nuggets in the air fryer or oven. (I'll be trying this one this weekend.)

IF THESE SELL WELL, WHAT OTHER LIMITED-TIME FLAVORS COULD WE IMAGINE?

Kwik Trip is onto something here. The snack industry is always looking for new combinations. I've seen chips in hot dog, ketchup, and "chicken and waffle" flavors.

And according to the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune , Kwik Trip released a Glazers-flavored chip in 2019 inspired by an April Fool's Day joke three years earlier.

No joke -- this may have some legs. And Kwik Trip would be smart to see what other store synergy they can come up with.

If you want to stay "on-brand" at Kwik Trip, why not put out some seasonal, sweet flavored chips like Karuba coffee or Kwikery Bake Shop pumpkin bars or cinnamon rolls?

KT could also extend their brand into chips with savory flavors like Pothole Pizza, crispy fried chicken and Chicken Wild Rice soup -- all flavors they're known for.

AVAILABILITY

At the time of this writing, 6 ounce bags of these Blueberry Glazer Ripple Chips were available at select St. Cloud area Kwik Trip stores. I paid $2.79 a bag for mine. And they're available for a limited time only.

Kwik trip fusing doughnut flavor into chips.

Kwik Trip has announced via social media that it will soon be introducing Blueberry Dunker-flavored Urge potato chips to its stores.

The La Crosse-headquartered company debuted its Blueberry Dunker Donuts in 2013. Last year, Kwik Trip produced over 9 million Blueberry Dunkers.

“We wanted this based off a popular item and after taste testing a few options, the sweet and salty combination of the Blueberry Dunker was a real winner,” said Will Churchill, Kwik Trip director of category management.

The Blueberry Dunker-flavored chips are the second doughnut-inspired potato chip that Kwik Trip has debuted. In 2019, Kwik Trip launched Glazers-flavored chips, which was a hit among its customers.

“The launch of this new product has been a fun one for our team to tease on social media these past few weeks,” said Paige Geary, Kwik Trip social media supervisor. “We shipped the chips early to all our influencers, who will be sharing taste tests on their platforms prior to the official in-store launch to continue building the hype.”

Blueberry Dunker chips have begun shipping to stores. There will be a limited amount of the chips produced.

Beef Chips, ramen popcorn and hot cheddar fries were just a few of the 2024 Most Innovative New Product Awards (MINPA) winners at the Sweets & Snacks Expo at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis this week.

Recognizing excellence in 13 categories and showcasing the most innovative ideas, concepts, and products across the candy and snack industries, John Downs, president and CEO of the National Confectioners Association (NCA),   said this innovation is more important than ever before.

“Through these awards, we recognize the manufacturers, retail partners, suppliers, and brokers who play a role in delighting consumers across the country and around the world,” Downs said.

This year's meat snacks winner heralds from the state of Hawaii. Chyler's Hawaiian Beef Chips  Original with Roasted Garlic took the top spot. The company, which launched in 2004 currently has it products available on Amazon, but hopes to see its products soon hit the store shelves due to an "overwhelmlng reponse" at the Sweets & Snacks Expo, the company told CSP Daily News .

Popcorn flavors hit a new high with this year's salty snacks winner, Nomad Snacks' Ramen Popcorn. Drawing upon the flavors of Southeast Asia, the popcorn snack includes hints of ginger, garlic, sesame, soy, herbs and spices. Produced in California Nomad Snacks also features a chimichurri popcorn and has three new flavors coming out this year as well, the company told CSP Daily News.  

Each year, more than 300 confectionery and snack products are submitted for consideration in categories including Small Business Innovator and Best in Show .

This year's  savory snacks category had a tie. Our Home,  a better-for-you snack family aimed at providing wholesome snacks at a value, won with its  Hot Cheddar Fries  and  PepsiCo Foods' Doritos Dinamita Smoky Chile Queso also shared the spotlight as a winner.  Doritos Dinamita Smoky Chile features a queso flavor with a spicy kick, in a new sticks shape. 

Turning to the sweet side, Skippy's Milk Chocolate PB Minis was the MINPA winner in the chocolate category. Hormel Foods' fusion includes creamy Skippy Peanut Butter and rich milk chocolate.

Another winner spotted on the Sweets & Snacks Expo trade show floor was from Quest Nutrition, which is a Denver-based company owned by The Simply Good Foods company. The company's strawberry cake frosted cookies, which  provides a sweet satisfaction of a sugary bakery cookie with less than 1g of sugar was the winner of the baked goods category.

Blueberry-doughnut-flavored potato chips? Leave it to Kwik Trip to create them.

The La Crosse-based convenience-store chain announced Monday that it will debut Blueberry Dunker-flavored Urge potato chips this weekend in its stores.

Kwik Trip debuted the Blueberry Dunker donut in 2013 and produced more than 9 million of them in the last year, according to a company news release.

“We wanted this based off a popular item and, after taste testing a few options, the sweet and salty combination of the Blueberry Dunker was a real winner,” said Will Churchill, Kwik Trip's director of category management.

It's the second doughnut-inspired chip Kwik Trip has introduced, after Glazers-flavored chips came out in 2019.

The chips will ship to stores Saturday and will be available for a limited time, the company said.

Kwik trip was named the favorite gas station brand in the country and also made the list of best gas stations for food..

Kwik Trip is ranked the best gas station brand in the nation by USA TODAY readers.

The national newspaper announced Wednesday morning its 2024 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Kwik Trip made a couple of lists in the Road Trips division.

Kwik Trip ranked No. 1 in Best Gas Station Brand and came in third for Best Gas Station for Food , behind Royal Farms and Casey’s.

Other Road Trips categories included Best Glamping Spot, Best Luxury RV Resort, Best National Park Lodge, Best Rental Car Company, Best Roadside Attraction, Best Roadside Motel, Best RV Campground and Best Vintage Trailer Hotel.

The awards highlight the best places and attractions in travel, food, drink and lifestyle. Each week, USA TODAY 10Best hosts a panel of industry experts who nominate their favorite places and attractions across a range of categories. 10Best editors look into each nomination and select a set of nominees that readers vote on for four weeks.

Kwik Trip has become a phenomenon.

Wisconsinites will not be surprised that Kwik Trip ranked first in the favorite gas station brand category. Since opening its first location as a neighborhood grocery store in Eau Claire in 1965, the convenience store brand — now based in La Crosse — has grown to a Midwestern convenience store and gas station with almost 900 Kwik Trip and Kwik Star locations in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and South Dakota. As Kwik Trip has continued to grow, it has collected a fan base that turned the brand into a phenomenon.

USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin took a deeper dive into the brand and its popularity in 2022.

Part of Kwik Trip's success has been through the use of social media, turning a convenience store and gas station into a more humanized brand voice that connects to its followers. A digital content supervisor told USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin that Kwik Trip has used social media platforms to bring the brand to life, listening and learning from its fans and followers.

Kwik Trip has Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat accounts. It even has a Spotify account with more than 160 followers who can listen to the company's "Kwik Trip Checkout" or "Chicken Jammies" public playlists.

Why do people love Kwik Trip?

There are multiple fan groups on social media dedicated to members' love for Kwik Trip, including a Wisconsin Kwik Trip Enthusiast Club, Kwik Trip Enthusiasts Club and even a Kwik Trip Missed Connections group. Some fans have held photo shoots at their local stores, even on prom and wedding days.

In the 2022 article, customers shared with USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin why they loved Kwik Trip. Many said they appreciated the company's high standards for cleanliness, helpful and caring employees and a variety of "grab and go" food options. Customers said they feel like they're a person in a Kwik Trip and not just another customer.

Many people love how interactive the brand is on social media, often posting jokes and quips and responding directly to comments on its social media posts. Kwik Trip also leans into its Midwest brand, partnering with various Midwest social media personalities like comedian Charlie Berens and various Green Bay Packers players.
