Queen Victoria, on having cruised Loch Lomond On 'The Prince Consort' Steamer, wrote in her diary: 'How dearest Albert would have enjoyed it....'
Boating on Loch Lomond, known as the “Queen of Scottish Lochs” has always been a tradition and what better way to see the beauty of Loch Lomond side than from the water by boat. If you do not have your own watercraft there are a variety of options available from speedboats to cruisers.
Cruises take in the panoramic glories of nature around the Loch; the Arklet waterfalls, Rob Roy MacGregor's cave and the Loch Sloy Hydroelectric Scheme. Take time to learn about the fascinating history of the area, including the clan feuds of the McFarlane’s and McGregor’s. And keep your eyes and ears open for deer and wild mountain goats on the hills, as well as birds of prey in the sky.
If you cruise up Loch Lomond from Tarbet towards Ardlui you will pass a small island called Honeymoon Island. It is reputed that in bygone days newly married couples would be left on this wee island for several days. If they were still speaking at the end then they were indeed suited to be married. Moving further up towards Ardlui, you will also pass Pulpit Rock where popular sermons were held. Excavations done in the early 1800s revealed that there was a lot of activity at Pulpit Rock, although it is said that more of the congregation was behind the rock where bread, cheese and whiskey was for sale than being at the front listening to the Minister.
Mesmerising thoughts of years gone by as you enjoy the tranquillity of the famous “Bonnie Banks” of Loch Lomond.

Trossachs Pier, Loch Katrine, By Callander, FK17 8HZ
The classic Loch Katrine Experience The opportunity to sail on the historic steamship Sir Walter Scott, nobly cruising these waters for over a century, is an experience to treasure. As you depart from Trossachs Pier or Stronachlachar, you discover that you are slowing down to travel at a more gentle pace, the beauty of the loch unfolding before you in harmony with the gentle rhythm of the steam engine.
As you travel, the tales and legends of the loch will be narrated by a member of the ship’s crew, and you will be struck by the beauty of the landscape, the very scenery which captured the imagination of Sir Walter Scott, inspiring him to write his poem “The Lady of the Lake”. On-board amenities on the ship include comfortable saloons, toilet facilities, and a kiosk, selling gifts, souvenirs and refreshments, including hot and cold drinks.

What our guests say
This is a belated letter to thank you for the really outstandingly successful week-end excursion in Lochaber. I am sure that everyone appreciated a unique opportunity to visit parts of the area neglected by excursion vessels for so long.
What an experience! We hired the Cruiser recently as our wedding venue and don't think anywhere could have been better. The staff will do everything they can to accommodate your needs. Unfortunately this little box isn't big enough to list all the praise i could give this company, I could go on and on. Fantastic venue and wonderful staff, who helped in making our wedding the way all wedding days should be ~ PERFECT.
A quick note to say that the cruise on the Clyde Clipper went off extremely well. We were fortunate that the weather was good for the evening, but notwithstanding that, all my guests were "wowed" by the experience and thanks to all your crew, bar staff and to the caterers for making it a memorable night. The food was excellent and I think that was borne out by the lack of leftovers! Other than the hardened drinkers and the handful on a diet, all were up for seconds! The tea and coffee proved surprisingly popular even amongst the younger guests. Is it your own catering company that you use, a couple of people have asked for their details? The drinkers were well provided for and happy with the choice of drinks and more importantly, the service was quick for those with a thirst. There were a good number of ex and some current seafarers on-board (myself included) and they can be a critical lot when they get on the water. All were very impressed with the boat and the crew. I had some reservations about the cruise time being possibly too short but 6 to 10 pm turned out to be ideal for the mixed age group, the older ones got home in good time whilst the younger ones had a couple of hours carousing time leftover for the night.

Inchcailloch island is a wonderful place to visit with a pretty beach and a rich habitat for birds, flowers and plant life.
This cruise is bookable from the 22 March - 3 Nov 2024
Sailing from Luss you will cruise to one of our favourite destinations on Loch Lomond, Inchcailloch. This island is a very special place due to its natural and cultural heritage. A magical place in spring, the island is carpeted in bluebells and in summer the island flourishes and becomes a rich habitat for birds, flowers and plant life. Throughout the autumn and into spring migrating wildfowl set up home here. There is a pretty little beach which is perfect for paddling and picnics in the warmer months. Good to know • Bring a picnic for the beach • Perfect short walks along the shoreline and opportunities to paddle • There are facilities aboard all of our boats • Dogs welcome on all cruises • Paths here can be muddy and unsuitable for pushchairs • There is a compost toilet on the island • Live commentary on board
