Tried & Tested: Joie pact™ pro Lightweight Compact Stroller

Joie pact pro stroller review

If you're looking for a compact and easy to store stroller that could serve you well from birth, to a big kid, then the Joie pact™ pro could be for you. With 3 modes in 1 (carry cot, infant carrier and forward facing) you can create a custom travel system that meets your and your child's needs.

The best part is it's small enough to live in your car boot and folds down so easily, you can do it one handed!

Weighing just 6.3kg, it's super light to carry, making it ideal for holidays or a stroll down the road. Despite being featherweight, it's a sturdy pushchair made with high-quality materials like aero-grade aluminum, super-strength steel and undiluted plastics.

Don't just take our word for it, we put the Joie pact™ pro stroller into the Tried & Tested hot seat, read on to find out what our real parent testers thought!

On a scale from 1 to 10 how easy was the pact™ pro to set up?

Georgia: 10. Everything clicked into place so perfectly. It was well packaged into the sections you need and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. There weren't a lot of pieces to put together which made the assembly easy and fun.

Jessica: 10. It was really easy to set up. The adapters did initially throw me a bit, but after going back and consulting the handbook I realised it was my mistake. The picture guide in handbook was brilliant to follow, much easier and probably a lot quicker than having to read excessive instructions.

Lilly: 10. Putting it together was so easy I didn't even need the instructions!

What features on the pact™ pro made you feel your baby was safe and secure?

Jessica: What made me feel my baby was safe and secure was the 5-point safety harness and bar to hold on to. The safety harness was easy to adjust and clip into place. The UPF 50+ sun shade is very generous in size so it covers baby and provides protection from not only the sun, but the rain too! The waterproof cover is also very generous in sizing and was easy to put on to provide shelter from the elements. The multiple recline options and adjustable footrest meant he looked so comfortable when napping. I really loved that I could easily keep an eye on him through the peekaboo window.

Paige: The fact there is a one touch braking system meant that in any unexpected circumstances I could brake fast and with ease. Lilly: The safety bar that clips either side of the pushchair and the safety straps, which have extra padding to support and protect the baby's neck.

Do you feel your baby was comfortable when travelling in the pact™ pro?

Alexandra: 100 percent! Being able to adjust the recline of the stroller made sure that I was able to ensure my child was comfortable at all times, whether this was when they were tired, or awake and wanting to see the outside world on our walks and adventures.

Jessica: My baby was very comfortable when travelling in the pact™ pro. Living in Cornwall we have many different terrains. Our first visit out in it was to Heligan Gardens and the stroller coped well with a variety of terrains experienced that day, from a muddy playing area, to rocky paths, wood chippings and gravel! My baby appeared happy, enjoying the ride the whole time. He looked incredibly comfortable when napping in it too.

Georgia: My toddler fell asleep for the first time in the pushchair for a long time. She wanted to get in as soon as it was set up!

joie tourist vs pact lite

What was the most useful feature of the pact™ pro?

Sophie: I loved the one handed fold because it was so simple and easy to use. It was also very lightweight when carried or lifted into the car.

Jessica: The most useful feature was how easily it pops up and folds down! And how petite it is when folded down. This feature is an absolute time saver. With our previous buggy it took a long time to clip the seat in and adjust it, but this feature is absolutely seamless and makes busy family life a lot easier.

Georgia: I love how small the pact™ pro folds down and the bag it comes in is brilliant. We travel a lot so whether we're going on a plane or in the car this has made journeys so much easier.

joie tourist vs pact lite

Would you recommend the pact™ pro to another parent and why?

Jessica: Definitely! It's such a versatile stroller that has coped well with all the terrains we've tested so far. I was initially concerned that because it is petite and lightweight that the ‘comfort’ and ‘cosy’ element may have been lost but this is definitely not the case. The material is soft and padded. The seat and footrest adjust very easily to suit your baby's needs.

Paige: I’d definitely recommend this to other parents for so many reasons, the main one being the light weight of the pram (just 6.3kg). This has meant I’ve not had to strain myself getting a toddler and a pram in and out of the car.

Emily: I would recommend the pact™ pro to anyone as it's lightweight and compact but still has lots of room for baby in the seat. The storage basket is lovely and big and easy to access along with the UPF 50+ canopy. I also love the breaks on the pushchair, it's a simple push down to activate and then push again to release, it's so easy and convenient.

Joie Pact Review

If you’re looking for a Joie Pact review then you’ve come to the right place. Read on to find out more about our thoughts on the Joie Pact lightweight stroller.

Despite being huge buggy fans, we’re still missing one in our arsenal; the compact, travel friendly addition. Fully reclining, lightweight strollers perfect for small trips around town, to leave in the grandparent’s car or, most importantly, to take on holiday. When we were offered the opportunity to review the Joie Pact buggy, I did a little leap for Joie (joy – geddit?!?). Not only do we finally find a pushchair to fill that hole but I have the perfect excuse to book another holiday. Here’s how we got on…

Joie Pact review: If you're looking for a travel stroller, the Joie Pact pushchair is one of the best. We review this light buggy that can be carried as hand luggage and is perfect for newborn babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. For an in depth stroller review and to help you choose which pushchair will suit your travel needs most, read on.

Introducing The Joie Pact

The Joie Pact stroller is designed as a lightweight stroller with a compact fold design. Created with travel in mind, the Pact weighs in at an impressively light 6kg and folds down to only 52.5 x 56.5 x 24cm. Packed full of functionality, the Pact stroller can be fully reclined to a lay flat position, has a huge hood, a decent sized basket and adjustable leg support. It’s well thought out, easy to fold single-handedly and even includes a rain cover, travel bag and car-seat adaptors as standard. That’s right, this little stroller just became a travel system.

Is The Joie Pact Easy To Assemble?

Arriving in a full-colour but tiny box, the immediate fear is that the Pact will take hours to assemble. Not so, the Joie Pact is just that tiny  when folded. Simply clip the wheels in to the frame and clip in the bumper bar and you’re ready to go. Inside the box was also a rain cover and adaptors to fit Joie car seats (or others, such as Maxi-Cosi).

How Does The Joie Pact Perform?

Out and about, during our Joie Pact review sessions, the stroller performs well. We’ve taken it everywhere with us over the last six weeks; from the beach to the country lanes. The single handed collapse mechanism works smoothly, allowing me to hold my son in one arm and set the buggy up (or put it down) with the other. It’s quick, intuitive and really effective – leaving you with a briefcase sized parcel. The design means you end up with a metal handle to lift it by or a fabric strap to allow you to carry it over your shoulder; ideal for a busy airport.

Our Experience

My son doesn’t look huge in it, unlike some lightweight, travel buggies. The five point harness is small in design but very effective; the shoulder straps stay in place without him being able to wriggle free… a very important factor for a toddler! The seat reclines fully making it suitable from birth or the very rare toddler nap. The recline is controlled by an adjustable strap allowing you a complete range of seat angles. I would say, for us, it doesn’t quite go upright enough. He likes to grip on to the bumper bar and lean forward which can pull the seat forward with him. However, I imagine a more upright back would require a bulkier design, so on balance, it’s totally worth it.

Let’s face it, basket size can make or break your love for any pushchair. The basket on the Joie Pact is surprisingly roomy for a lightweight stroller. We managed to fit my handbag, the change bag, a lunch box and some jumpers in there without it overflowing. It’s a little like a tardis! Not only that but it’s easily accessible, even when the seat is reclined, something that’s often overlooked.

Is The Joie Pact Cabin Size & Suitable To Take On Holiday?

The Joie Pact is billed as a holiday essential; it even comes complete with a travel bag to zip it into for air travel. It’s weight and size means it rivals some of the top billed travel buggies at a fraction of the price and the Joie Pact can go in cabin with you most of the time, check your airline’s rules for more detail. In my opinion, the UPF 50+ sun canopy makes it a must. It’s huge, giving great coverage for your little one and even pulls down further to give an ‘eyeshade visor’. No more trying to badly position a wobbly parasol. As someone who spent an entire holiday covering their child in factor 50 suncream, I wish I’d had it then.

Since we’ve had the Pact, we’ve not even looked at our travel system, even in heavy rain. Yes, at times, it feels a little too lightweight, but it’s not until you start to use it that you realise just how good it is. In all honesty, I’m a little amazed by it. It’s quickly become a firm favourite in our household, garnering praise from all manner of family members. As my (rather buggy bored) husband put it, just the other day, ‘it really is quite good, isn’t it?’

Joie describe the Pact as ‘a petite parcel designed and engineered to make every day a holiday’ and they’re not lying. My back and shoulders have never felt more relief at not having to lug our rather hefty travel system in and out of the car. Scrap the expensive massages by the pool, it turns out all I needed was to upgrade to a Pact. All in all, we’re very pleased with the outcome of our Joie Pact review!

Frequently Asked Questions…

Does the joie pact come with a rain cover.

Yes, the Joie Pact comes complete with a rain cover in the box. The rain cover is pretty good – covering the pushchair well whether the seat is full reclined or sat upright.

Where Can I find The Joie Pact Instruction Manual?

Joie have a full listing of manuals on their website, however for ease, the instruction manual can also be found here.

Does The Joie Pact Come With Maxi Cosi Adaptors?

There are Maxi Cosi adapters for their car seats supplied as standard in the box.

What Age Is The Joie Pact Suitable For?

The Joie Pact is suitable from newborn up to three years of age. Or if you want to know the suitable weight range for the Joie Pact, it’s up to 15kg. We’ve tested it personally up to over three years of age with various children and find it best suited to six – nine months upward, once your child can better support their own weight.

Can You Take The Joie Pact On A Plane?

Yes! As mentioned above, you can easily take the Joie Pact on a plane, either in the cabin or in the hold. The Joie Pact comes with a travel bag, making it easy to transport either way. Whilst you’ll need to check your airline’s requirements for cabin baggage, it fits within standard requirements for many major airlines.

Does The Joie Pact Sit Upright?

The Joie Pact can go from lay flat to an upright seating position. However, the Joie Pact’s upright position is still slightly more reclined – in a similar style to other seats where the recline position is managed by adjusting/tightening a pull strap on the back. We haven’t found this to be an issue because the back moves with your child if they want to pull forward slightly. We would still say that the Joie Pact sits upright.

Can You Put A Car Seat On The Joie Pact?

Yes, you can put a car seat on the Joie Pact easily. With the included adaptors you can either attach a Joie car seat or a Maxi Cosi car seat.

What size Is A Folded Joie Pact?

The stroller folds down to 52.5 x 56.5 x 24cm.

Does The Stroller Fully Recline?

Yes, the Pact has a small catch on the back which allows you to lower and raise the back from an upright seated position to fully reclined. This gives you complete flexibility as to how reclined you want your child. Whilst it fully reclines, the upright position isn’t that upright, which can be a frustration to nosy toddlers.

Is This A Joie Pact Or A Pact Lite?

This review refers to a Joie Pact, not the Pact Lite. The Pact Lite is a different model of pushchair available from Joie, the differences are outlined below!

What’s The Difference Between the Joie Pact and the Pact Lite?

The Joie Pact Lite is a slightly newer version of the Joie Pact that’s even more focussed on the lightweight stroller market. The main difference between the Joie Pact and Pact Lite is that the Pact Lite is 0.5kg lighter than the Pact and folds down to 46.8 x 54 x 26cm making it that little bit smaller for cabin requirements. The Pact Lite is also cheaper than the Pact, around £30 less, and comes it brighter fabrics. It still fully reclines, has a large 50+UPF hood and features a 5 point harness but is more geared to holiday usage. If you’re looking for a stroller that’s likely to be used for a lot of travel, the Pact Lite is going to be best suited to you, if it’s for a mix of home and travel, we rate the Pact as slightly better.

Thanks for sharing this review, you’ve really sold us on the pushchair, it seems like the perfect lightweight stroller, which is so vital for parents who are active and want to get out and about without carrying too much with them. Though a massage wouldn’t hurt either haha!

I think both might be essential!

Hi can the pact be used without the bumper bar? & does it have a cosy toes / rain cover or can a universal one be used? Would it fit a small 4 year old comfortably? ThNk you

Hi Victoria, It definitely can be used without the bumper bar. I quite often take ours off as otherwise my son likes to put his feet over it (kids, eh?!). It comes complete with a rain cover which provides excellent coverage, even when reclined. It doesn’t have a cosy toes as standard, I haven’t seen a Joie one for it but I’m confident it would fit our standard mothercare one as the straps are all in ‘normal’ places. As for a four year old, I’m afraid I don’t know. My son is 18 months in the photos and there’s loads of room. I would think so but as someone with no experience of four year olds I’d hate to recommend it incorrectly. It could be worth popping in to a local store or ordering one to try out. Let me know how you get on x

Thank you. Definitely top of my to get list! X

Thanks for this review. Do you know if the maxi Cosi cabriofix car seat will fit on using the adapters?

Thank you for this review! We’re traveling to disneyland with a 20 month old in tow and we just wanted to take something small and lightweight so he can nap as and when he wants to. You’ve sold this to us, thank you!

I’m so glad to hear this! It would be absolutely perfect for such a trip, I really wish we’d had ours on our last holiday, it’s just so easy to use and really is packed full of functionality. Have a lovely trip!

Hi great review. I’m currently looking for a replacement travel stroller and ideally wanted something that could be taken as hand luggage would this fold small enough?

Hi Kirsty, it certainly folds up small (it’s large briefcase/small suitcase size) but I’d hate to advise you incorrectly on whether it could or couldn’t be taken as hand luggage as I know it’s dependent on the flight provider themselves. I’d suggest checking with Joie customer service just to be on the safe side! Let me know how you get on. x

Hi, I am wondering how stable the stroller is. If I put a bag on the handle – will it turn over ? Or how much weight it can carry without turn over ?

It’s pretty light, personally I wouldn’t put a bag on the handle unless you added some weight to the underneath as well, otherwise any time you take your little one out, it would fall backward. The basket is a decent size, definitely enough to hold a nappy bag – we popped our backpack one in there with no issues.

Hi there. I really like the look of this stroller but I’m wondering how sturdy the chasis feels and if it would be suitable for daily use, ie the school run and occasional use on the weekend? I’m looking to replace my Hauck travel system which dosen’t feel as solid as it did after using it for a year. I’ve been looking at the Pact and the Cosatto Woosh and I’d like to replace with something which will last my 13 month old till she’s 3-4 and out of a stroller. Thanks.

It’s a great stroller but I’m not sure how it would hold up for everyday use for a couple of years. We live rurally so probably use it once a week plus any traveling as we have an off-road buggy we use for daily walks. I’d say if you’re in a town and just using it on pavements it would probably be fine but I have no experience of long term daily use just yet I’m afraid!

Halo, may i ask whether this stroller can be consider as cabin size stroller? Some say yes, but some say it is better to choose pact lite as it is smaller and cabin size.

You’d need to check with your airline to see if it qualifies as cabin sized as I’d hate to give you the wrong information! It does go down very small but unsure on the specifics. Sorry!

Hii. Do you think this is suitable for newborn? Joie said it is fully flat tilt but I am not sure looking from the picture. Thanks!

Whilst it does go flat, I’d still be a little wary of putting a teeny tiny newborn in there. Mostly because it’s a big space for a tiny person and you’d probably have to strap them in, unlike a carry cot. It does come with car seat adaptors that would allow you to fit a Maxi Cosi or Joie car seat to it and I’d use that for the first 4-6 weeks whilst they’re very small still. We had a carry cot with both children on a different travel system and used it only a handful of times, instead ending up using a baby carrier or the car seat so I wouldn’t say you necessarily need one, it just comes down to how much they’ll be in the buggy. When they’re out of that really squished up stage (probably 6 weeks onward), they’d be fine in this – I’d pop a blanket under them/to the sides just to cushion it a little but obviously make sure you keep an eye that they’re in no danger of pulling it over their face. My little one has been in a flat recline buggy like this since about 6 weeks onward with no issues. x

Hi, is this the PACT or the PACT LITE? Sorry am a bit confused as you refer to it as both!

Sorry, it’s the Pact! I think I must’ve had the Pact Lite on the brain the other day when I was tidying up the post! x

REVIEW Joie Pact Lightweight Pushchair / Stroller

REVIEW Joie Pact Lightweight Pushchair / Stroller

AD – Product gifted for review

Have you heard of the new Joie Pact stroller? May is finally here and with it has come the brighter nights, the sunnier days and the rising of the mercury – for me it couldn’t have come soon enough! As soon as the brighter days start to appear, my mood improves almost instantly, and I start thinking about days out, travel, and getting away on holiday with my little family!

Whilst we love our Joie Litetrax 4 Pushchair, it is a on the larger side, and as such we have been looking for a slightly smaller and more travel friendly pushchair. Neve is now a fairly confident walker, but at 20 months, she still does get tired if we cover a large distance. At times she also tends to try and make a run for it, so we like to use a pushchair if we are out and about or going somewhere where we will be walking for a significant amount of time.

Joie must have read our minds with their new recently launched a Joie compact stroller / pushchair- the Joie Pact – a small, lightweight, easy fold pushchair / stroller that is perfectly equipped for travel. We couldn’t wait to put it through it’s paces – here’s our Joie Pact review!

Joie Pact Pushchair

Table of Contents

About the Joie Pact Stroller / Pushchair

The Joie Pact is a lightweight stroller and it’s features include:

  • Suitable from birth to 15kg
  • Compatible with Joie iGemm or other maxi cosi car seats (using compatible adapters)
  • Super easy and compact fold
  • Carry strap and custom carry bag
  • UPF50+ sun canopy with viewing window
  • Multi position recline including lie flat option
  • Full size, easy access shopping basket
  • 5 point safety harness.

How does the Joie Pact compare to the Joie Pact Lite?

The main differences between the Joie Pact stroller and the Joie Pact Lite is the weight and size. Whilst the Joie Pact is already incredibly lightweight at 6kg, the Joie Pact Lite weighs 0.5kg less at just 5.5kg.

What age is the Joie Pact Stroller suitable for?

The Joie Pact stroller is suitable from birth to 15kg (around 3 years of age depending on the size of your baby).

Can the Joie Pact be used as a travel system?

It’s a lightweight pushchair so whilst you can use it with a compatable car seat, it’s probably not the best choice for multi terrain / off roading. That said, for city living and strolls it can be used with the Joie iGemm or other Maxi Cosi car seat using adapters.

Our Experience of the Joie Stroller

First impressions of joie pact.

My first impressions of the Joie Pact were very positive. I loved the look and feel of the product and the fact it folded down so small was a real positive. The material feels soft and comfortable, and although small in stature, it appeared to be a sturdy and strong chasis.

We went for the Navy Blazer colour, which although you could argue is more of a traditional ‘boy’ colour we felt was perfectly gender neutral and a practical shade for a pushchair that would be used frequently on our travels. The Pact is also available in Cranberry (a red shade) if you prefer something a little different.

The carry bag and carry handle made it clear immediately that this pushchair was very different from others we have had before.

Does the Joie Pact require assembly?

The Joie Pact Stroller comes boxed and does require some assembly, but was very easy to put together, with the wheels simply clipping into place, and a small wire connecting the two wheels simply needing to be velcro’d under the cover flap to hold it in place. I normally wait for my other half to come home before attempting assembly jobs like these, however was able to do this on my own completely unassisted in less than 15 minutes.

How easy is it to steer?

We have tested the Joie Pact Stroller on a variety of different surfaces from tarmac, to pebbles and grass. It is very easy to steer, with the front wheels swivelling to help control (they can also be locked in place). Due to its smaller size, the Joie Pact doesn’t handle corners as well as a larger travel system (such as the Joie Litrax 4 ), however this did not affect the usability at all. On particularly bumpy terrain, such as over tree routes or pebbles the Joie Pact can struggle a bit to lift over the bumps (as the front wheels are relatively small), but again, for a travel pushchair I expect this is a compromise to maintain its lightweight and compact nature. If you live in a particularly rural setting, you may be better opting for a larger, multi terrain pushchair.

joie tourist vs pact lite

What is the Sun Protection / Hood like on the Joie Pact?

The hood of the Joie Pact, as with our Joie Litrax provides a large amount of cover for your child from the sun when they are reclined. When sat upright however I would’ve preferred this to be a little deeper, as when it is particularly sunny the rays did still get into her eyes a little. The Joie Pact hood provides UPF50+ protection, and there is also a visor at the top so you can peak through and check on your child, which is easy to open with velcro. This would be particularly reassuring for parents using the Pact with younger babies, as being forward facing you otherwise wouldn’t be able to interact easily with your child.

Joie Pact Pushchair

Straps and five point harness

The Joie Pact is forward facing only and has a number of recline options using a strap and pull system on the back of the seat. I found this quite fiddly at times, as it was more of a guess work job than a refined art, but once the strap was pulled into place the back did stay put. It’s worth noting here that the chair doesn’t allow a child to sit completely upright, more so at a subtle incline. It does however lie completely flat, which is ideal for younger babies who may nod off when walking and want to have a proper sleep on your commute.

There is a five point harness with long shoulder pads and pads at the centre, meaning it is both secure and comfortable. The centre pad did occasionally come off (see below) so for ease we often used without, however Neve was still very comfortable in her chair.

joie tourist vs pact lite

The bumper bar across the centre of the Joie Pact is cushioned and can be unclipped on the side (or removed completely) for easier access – I found removing Neve from the pushchair much much easier if I simply unclipped the one side of the bar.

joie tourist vs pact lite

The seat size on the Joie Pact is relatively small, so depending on the height / size of your child this is something to bear in mind – Neve is quite petite so for us it wasn’t a problem but for a taller child, you may find it a little on the tight side or find their legs hang a little more over the edge!

Joie Pact Pushchair

What is the Brake like?

The brake on the Joie Pact is a simple foot operated peddle to the left of the right hand wheel, which I found very easy to operate. Despite being a lightweight pushchair, the brake was strong, and it was quite hard to move the chair without releasing the pedal beforehand.

What is the basket like on the Joie Pact?

A full size shopping basket under the Joie Pact makes it very practical and I found this a huge positive for such a compact pushchair. There is plenty of room to pop in some shopping, a changing bag or heavier items that you do not wish to carry, and unlike with the Litetrax, the storage area can be accessed from all sides, even when the chair is in lie flat position. Due to its lightweight nature, I wouldn’t recommend placing bags on the back of the handle, as this is likely to cause the Pact to tip.

joie tourist vs pact lite

Easy fold option

The Joie Pact is EXTREMELY easy to fold up and down (can be done with one hand) – simply press and unclip at the top and the entire thing pretty much folds in on itself, into a very small compact size making it very easy to store in the back of your car and saving lots of valuable space. We recently went on holiday for the first time as a family of four, and I was amazed at how much stuff we wanted to take. The smaller size of the Joie Pact meant that we were still able to take a pushchair without needing to worry about taking up valuable boot space which could be used for other essential items!

Space Saving

The Joie Pact measures just 52.5 x 24 x 56.5cm when folded meaning that during travel on public transport, you can be confident that there will be enough space to tuck the Joie Pact neatly out of the way, or even on the overhead shelves on trains.  The pushchair also stands on its own when folded.

Carry Strap

The carry strap is really really useful, ideal for when you are taking on holiday (especially abroad), but there have also been times when I have walked Neve to nursery, and then used the carry handle to carry home as opposed to walking back with an empty pushchair. When carried, the Joie Pact feels very light and does not feel uncomfortable at all – weighing just 6kg.

The Joie Pact retails at £150, making it a realtively affordable option for most families.

Pros of the Joie Pact:

  • Straight forward to assemble and easy to follow instructions.
  • Super easy one handed fold.
  • More than adequate storage space.
  • Very lightweight and easy to carry using integrated carry handle.
  • Very compact when folded, and takes up limited space in a car boot or on public transport.
  • Ideal for school / nursery commute, or those who travel frequently.
  • Despite its small stature, still has many of the benefits you would expect from a larger system.
  • UPF50+ Sun hood
  • Easy to operate break.

Cons of the Joie Pact:

  • Adjusting the back incline can be a little bit fiddly, and never quite felt like I was doing it right. Doesn’t sit totally upright, which for older babies might be something that frustrates them a little!
  • Seat size is small which for taller babies might be an issue.
  • Adjusting the height of the straps can be a little fiddly as involves repoking the straps through some small slits in the material – however once it is done it’s done!
  • Struggles a little with very bumpy terrain due to the small wheel size and doesn’t corner as well as a larger travel system may do, but this is a compromise for the other positive features above.

The Joie Pact is a lightweight, compact and super easy to fold pushchair that although small, has many features that you would expect from a larger travel system or pushchair. It is ideal for anyone who travels on public transport a lot, or to use on holiday when space is limited. The Joie Pact is also perfect for anyone who lives in a flat or home with stairs to contend with, as it is super easy to carry using the attached handle. For our family, the Joie Pact is perfect for the school or nursery run and ideal if you have limited storage space in your home and want something that wont take up too much room in your porch / hall.

Where can I buy the Joie Pact?

The Joie Pact is available to purchase at many high street stores including:

Why you can trust GoodtoKnow. Our experienced Consumer Editor & parent reviewers spend hours testing products to help you make the best choice. Find out how we test and review products.

As Consumer Editor at GoodtoKnow, I have tested more prams, pushchairs and strollers than I've had hot dinners over the years so I was itching to get my hands on the new Joie Pact Pro stroller.

Parents know and trust Joie, and it's easy to see why. From the Joie Versatrax - which features in our guide to buying the best pushchair - to the Joie i-Spin 360 - which we named the best one-handed rotating seat in our best car seats buying guide - Joie is a brand that consistently delivers high-quality items of baby gear that don't cost a fortune but do help to make life with little ones easier.

Joie has branched out beyond car seats, prams and pushchairs too, with their portfolio of parent-friendly products including everything from high chairs, swings and bouncers to cots, cribs and baby carriers.

The Joie Pact Pro is the brand's very latest offering in the lightweight and compact travel stroller category and it's one of the best travel strollers we've tested. A petite pushchair package, the Pact Pro was designed to make light work of any journey, no matter whether your passenger is a delicate newborn that needs to lie flat or a toddler straining at the straps to see the world. Lightweight and compact, the Pact Pro is the ideal travel companion if you're planning a family holiday - but it's also robust enough to handle daily life at home.

In a nutshell

The Joie Pact lightweight stroller is a brilliant buy if you're looking for an affordable, travel-friendly pushchair. The easy-to-fold design and the fact that it's so compact (and freestanding) when folded is a dream, whether you want to carry it through an airport or stash it in a car boot and still have plenty of space for luggage. Even if you're not heading off on holiday, this light and manoeuvrable pushchair is a good choice for everyday life with a little one from birth to toddlerhood - and beyond.

For this review, GoodtoKnow turned to our parent tester, Holly Upton, to put Joie's newest lightweight stroller to the test with her 19-month-old son, Remy. She used the pushchair daily, for both quick trips to the supermarket and longer walks to parks and playgroups, testing its manoeuvrability on different types of terrain and seeing how easy it was to push, fold and carry in all sorts of everyday situations with a busy toddler. Here’s everything you need to know about how the Joie Pact Pro fared during testing.

Price and availability

The Joie Pact Pro is priced at £200 from Mamas and Papas , and available to purchase directly from Joie at the same price.

This is a mid-range price for a lightweight pushchair from a reliable, trusted baby gear brand. It's good value for money when you consider that it's one of the lightest strollers you can buy, plus it's impressively compact when folded.

However, factor in that you'll be spending considerably more if you choose to buy the compatible Joie Ramble carrycot and/or car seat too.

The Joie Pact Pro lightiweight compact stroller

Design and features

Weight:  6.3kg  | Age:  Birth-approx. 4 years  | Price:  £200 | Included:  Rain cover, carry bag, adapters and bumper bar

The Joie Pact Pro is a 3in1 stroller, meaning you can use it in three different modes: (1) as a forward-facing pushchair, (2) with the Joie Ramble carrycot - brilliant for babies who need to lie flat in a pram until six months - and (3) with selected Joie infant carrier car seats if you want to create a travel system. The carrycot and car seat have to be purchased separately which is an extra expense, but if you just want a light and compact stroller, this is a practical choice. A rain cover and a bag for storing the stroller are included in the price, as are adaptors to hold the car seat or carrycot safely in place on the frame.

For me, the standout feature of the Joie Pact Pro is how remarkably compact it is when folded. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's not much bigger than a large laptop. It's perfect for popping in the car boot but still plenty of space for all the family's luggage, and ideal for stashing neatly out of the way at playgroup or if you don't want a tank of a pushchair taking up space in your hallway.

One of my favourite design features of the Joie Pact Pro is the custom recline button which lets you adjust the backrest from upright to fully flat and everything in between. As any parent knows, the ability to ever-so-gently recline your child's seat when they doze off in the stroller is a game-changer. I've bought myself half an hour's peace in a cafe numerous times by mastering this trick.

However, some pushchairs make reclining the seat virtually impossible - you either jolt the child awake due to a less-than-smooth design or the process is so noisy not even the heaviest of snoozers could sleep through the racket. Top marks to Joie for making this feature as smooth and quiet as can be.

The Joie Pact Pro lightweight compact stroller with car seat attached

Another noteworthy feature of the Joie Pact Pro is the adjustable leg rest. This isn't something many parents usually prioritise when shopping for a stroller, especially for a newborn, as it's difficult to imagine your tiny bundle ever being big enough to need a leg rest!

But babies grow fast and toddlers tend to love getting out of the stroller for short walks, which can lead to little legs getting tired. At that stage, a leg rest can make a huge difference to how comfy the stroller is for little explorers. Even better if it's adjustable so that tired little legs can recover between adventures, even after an overnight growth spurt.

Well-designed brakes are another design element that parents often overlook when shopping for a stroller but they can make a huge difference to the whole experience of getting out and about with your baby. If you risk breaking a toe every time you want to apply the brake, you're not likely to enjoy using the stroller.

Efficient brakes are especially important with a lightweight stroller because they tend to tip up more easily than heavier designs. Joie has this covered with the One-touch shoe saver™ braking system which makes it easy to put the stroller into stationary mode and just as easy to get moving again.

For me, the most important design feature of any pram or pushchair is how easy it is to fold. That's especially true with a lightweight stroller because you're more likely to use one for travelling, when it's essential that you can fold it quickly and easily. It's not much help having a light and compact stroller if you end up sweating and having to wrestle it into submission every time you want to fold it.

Joie claims the Pact Pro is so easy to fold that you can do it with one hand so we set out to see if that's true. The press release promised: 'When your hands are full and space is limited, Pact Pro easily collapses into a tiny package to make it easy for you to carry it around or tuck it away into small spaces.'

Is it that easy to fold? Yes and, better still, the Joie Pact Pro is also freestanding when folded. This means you can fold it up and pop it to one side without worrying that it's going to fall on top of a toddler or spring open and bash you on the shin every time you squeeze past it in the hallway. If you're likely to collapse the stroller to pop it in and out of your car boot, then an easy-to-fold design should be top of your list. And if folding it up to store it out of the way between uses appeals to you, a freestanding fold is a dream design feature.

'The stroller is very simple to assemble and fold down and is possible to do this with one hand which is handy when holding a toddler; it is also lightweight to lift and carry, which helps when getting it in and out of the boot,' says our parent tester, Holly.

'We keep the stroller in the boot of the car, which I found didn’t take up too much space and I could still fit a 'big food shop' amount of shopping bags in the boot alongside the stroller. If you did want to store it in the house, it is compact and could easily fit in an understairs cupboard or even in a narrow hallway – it does stand on its own. I'm not sure how sturdy it would be to stay standing if my toddler started climbing on it though, which he no doubt would!'

We can't mention how easy it is to fold the Pact Pro without also drawing attention to the fact that it comes with a storage bag so it's easy to transport. That's a little extra that you'd normally only get on a much more expensive stroller, and you'd often expect to pay extra for it. Once again, Joie has proven its commitment to making travel hassle-free for families.

The Joie Pact Pro lightweight compact pushchair shown folded

How we tested

  • Our tester used the Joie Pact Pro both indoors in shops/supermarkets, and also outside when walking in the park and on gravel and grass. 'I found that the wheels coped well regardless of the terrain and it hasn't felt stuck at any point,' she says.

Things you wouldn’t find on the box

Designers often have to make compromises to produce a very lightweight stroller. That can mean using lighter materials that aren't as robust as heavier alternatives or reducing the size of the seat unit to lighten the load. In particular, manoeuvrability often gets sacrificed because small wheels help to reduce the overall weight but that can mean certain types of terrain are a bit of struggle.

However, if you're in the market for a lightweight stroller that can also tackle tough terrain, whether that's a cobbled street in Greece or a muddy walk at your local park, the Joie Pact Pro is designed to handle it. The front wheels can be locked in place or set to swivel, so you can get the best out of it by adjusting them to suit different environments as needed.

Beneath the seat unit, there's a ventilated storage basket which is a genius feature for a travel-friendly stroller. You can pop anything in there from wet clothes after a day at the beach to washable nappies after use, without worrying about the basket getting soggy or smelly.

While we're on the subject of airflow, I like the inclusion of a peekaboo window in the hood of the pushchair, making it easy to see if your baby has nodded off in the pushchair.

'In terms of comfort, my son seems to really enjoy sitting in the Joie Pact Pro and I particularly like how straight he can sit when the seat it set to fully upright,' says our tester, Holly. 'With other strollers, he has always wanted to sit more upright than the seat would allow, which would cause the straps to pull on him. He has also taken a nap in the stroller, which reclines to almost fully flat – he fell asleep within a few minutes when reclined which is a big win for us! The hood is a good size and covers most sunlight when pulled all the way down.'

Who is it best for?

The Joie Pact Pro is a brilliant buy for anyone on the hunt for light and compact stroller for holiday use. We love that it's suitable from birth right through to toddlerhood and beyond, and it's also sturdy enough to be suitable for daily use at home.

'Overall, the stroller is smart to look at, looks sleek in design and is really easy to manoeuvre,' adds our tester. 'It is far less bulky than other strollers we’ve had, but still offers the same level of comfort which is a big bonus.

'We are going on holiday soon and will be using this stroller whilst we are away, which I think will be perfect for travel, however this has also now taken over as our go-to stroller on a day-to-day basis at home too. The basket underneath is a decent size and could easily fit a changing bag, along with a couple of toys and a coat – everything you’d need for a trip out with a little one.'

Need an alternative?

The Joie Pact Pro is a little less expensive than the RRP of many similar lightweight strollers such as the Joolz Aer , the Silver Cross Clic and the Babyzen YoYo2 but these pushchairs are older models and sometimes available at discounted prices. The Pact Pro, in contrast, is a brand-new release from Joie and not likely to be discounted by retailers.

Joie Pact review

joie tourist vs pact lite

  • Janet Martin

In a nutshell

Simple to fold and very compact, this is a great buggy for parents on the go, but the small front wheels means it can struggle across uneven paving

What we tested

  • Compact, simple to store, lightweight, super-easy fold system, affordable
  • Small front wheels, shallow hood, difficulty interacting with your little one

Showing item 1 of 16

joie tourist vs pact lite

Key features of the Joie Pact:

  • Age suitability: From birth to 15kg
  • Type of buggy: Stroller
  • Weight: 6kg
  • Fold: One-hand fold
  • Travel system compatible:Yes
  • Total cost: £150

The Joie Pact is a versatile, lightweight buggy that makes life with little ones a whole lot easier. Adaptable to a range of situations, the Pact fits into busy family life perfectly.

My husband and I used this stroller on the school run, and out and about doing daily activities with our two girls: Jasmine,5, and Roselyn, 2.

How compact is the Joie Pact?

It's extremely compact. I think the flat-fold really helps save space. When folded flat, it's not much bigger than a re-usable carrier bag. The dimensions are: open size: l 86 x w 52.5 x h 106cm, folded Size: l 24 x w 52.5 x h 56.5cm.

joie tourist vs pact lite

Is it lightweight?

Weighing just 6kg, the Joie Pact is one of the lightest buggies out there. The carry-strap is padded and helps to distribute the little weight there is. It made light work of the walk from my car to the nursery, carrying the buggy over my shoulder

The best lightweight buggies

Does the weight hamper its durability?

Despite it’s weight, the Joie Pact feels durable. My active 2 year old climbed all over it and it never showed any strain. That being said, it’s so lightweight that when a strong gust of wind came along, and we didn't have Roselyn in there, it lifted off the ground and landed with a thump.

How does it ride in the parks, over tree roots and up hills?

The small front wheels struggle to handle dips and uneven paving. For any surface raised higher than an inch or two, you have to tip the buggy back and over.

10 of the best all-terrain buggies and three-wheelers

How does it work as a city buggy, on transport – buses and trains?

In shops, and out and about, the Joie Pact handles all challenges. The biggest test was a busy after-school bus, which was a little stressful! The Pact tucked neatly into the buggy area and I had to sit across the aisle from my daughter. I kept a close eye on whether it moved or tipped during the journey, but it was just fine.

How easy is it to store?

Storing this buggy is a delight. I like that it stands when folded, so I can slide it into a gap if it needs to be out of the way - even in a crowded buggy park at playgroup. I like the option to fold it down – it makes leaving at the end a lot quicker.

Is it affordable?

Retailing for around £150, the Joie Pact is reasonably priced against similar products in the category.

You can buy the Joie Pact at Online4Baby and Kiddies Kingdom .

Is it suitable from birth? Do you think it is suitable for a newborn?

The flat reclining seat makes it suitable from birth and I would be comfortable putting a newborn in the buggy.

Is it travel system compatible?

Yes, car seat adapators are included

What do you think of the seat size?

My first impression of the seat was that it’s very shallow. At approx 23cm deep, it's about the length of a fork - that's about 2/3 the seat depth of our previous buggy - the Babystyle Oyster Lite . I would say the seat is comparable to a highchair rather than a buggy seat, and for that reason I thought it might be uncomfortable. However, my 2 year old has had no issue with the seat and has even fallen asleep in it - always a good sign!

joie tourist vs pact lite

What do you think of the height of the buggy?

The height is just right. I’m 5’8” and my hubby is 6’1” and we were both happy with it. The handle bar is adjustable to 2 different height positions about 6cm apart.

Is the frame strong and durable?

As it’s a lightweight buggy, the frame does feel a little delicate. But I get the impression that overall, it’s a well-built buggy and will stand the test of time for occasional use.

Would you recommend it for use from birth?

Yes, I would use it from birth. However, I think if I was a first-time parent I'd be a little wary using it for my first baby.

Best baby products for 2017

What do you think of the fold system?

I LOVE the fold system. It’s easy and intuitive, quick to perform, and easy on the back. I was delighted to find several situations where I typically would not have considered folding down the buggy because it would have been too much hassle. The quick and easy fold on the Joie Pact, and the fact it's so lightweight offered new alternative ways to move around with a buggy and a little one. One situation where it comes in very handy is at the nursery. There are four security doors in quick succession that you need to be buzzed through, or manually unlock. When I entered previously with another buggy, I was always relieved when someone offered assistance. With the Pact, I fold it down before we enter the first door, sling it over my shoulder and hold my daughter's hand. So much easier!

joie tourist vs pact lite

Is it a one-hand fold?

Sure is! One-hand-not-much-effort fold, to be exact.

10 of the most compact folding buggies

What do you think of the handle?

The handle is well-positioned and comfortable. I have nagging carpal tunnel wrist pain, which is very easily aggravated, and it’s been just fine with the Joie Pact. The only thing that occasionally bothers me is that the hood rubs against my hand while I push, but this is easily rectified by pushing the hood away where it stays in place.

How is interacting with your little ones when in the buggy?

A little difficult to be honest, but I think this could be down to my daughters’ height and the fact that it isn't a parent-facing buggy . There’s a viewing window in the hood – but all I can see is the very top of her head.

Best buggies for taller babies

What do you think of the hood?

The hood is a little shallow. When there is even a slight drizzle – not enough for a rain cover – I notice that my daughter is getting wet. The hood really only provides coverage for a child if they were sat reclined.

What are the basket and storage pockets like?

The basket is deceptive. It looks small, but holds loads - just what you need. It can also easily be accessed from the front and sides. The only downside is that the carry strap for the buggy lives in the basket and can get in the way when you're putting items in.

What do you think of the tyres?

They’re quite small. The front and back wheels are the same size as the small front wheels on my old buggy. The small wheel size hinders the buggy when it comes to tackling difficult terrains.

joie tourist vs pact lite

Tell us about the breaks.

They are sufficient enough to stop the buggy rolling down a hill on its own. But, perhaps because the buggy is so lightweight, I found that I could push it with the brakes engaged. I do like how the brake is engaged with a flip-type foot lever though. It's really easy to operate.

Does it fit in the boot of your car?

I think this buggy would fit into the boot of any car! Its folded dimensions are l 24 x w 52.5 x h 56.5cm . Not much bigger than a large supermarket carrier bag.

joie tourist vs pact lite

What age child is it best for?

I would say newborn to 4 years/15kg – but it's probably not the best buggy for taller babies.

What’s in the box?

  • Instructions
  • Car seat adaptors

Is it easy or hard to build the product

I was a little disappointed when I realised the buggy had to be assembled. I was tired and my hubby wasn’t home, who actually enjoys that type of thing. I was pleasantly surprised though - assembly was extremely quick and easy. The instructions were so clear that even my frazzled brain could work them out. It was basically just popping on the wheels.

What would you have wanted to know before you purchased the item?

How life-changing it could be. I have re-thought how I approach situations where having a buggy might be problematic.

Who would the product be most useful for?

Anyone travelling about a lot - basically parents on-the-go, and anyone who has limited space in their car or home. The easy-fold also makes light work of climbing stairs.

Is the product value for money?

There are a few contenders in the lightweight buggy market. With a RRP of £150, the Joie Pact sits at the lower end, so I think it offers good value. The Babyzen YoYo is also suitable from birth but it's more than double the price. The Mountain Buggy Nano will set you back over £200 all-in and the Red Kite Push Me Cube is similarly priced.

Has the product or the parent company won any awards?

Joie have won numerous awards for their variety of products - in particular their car seats. I would say that the Babyzen YoYo is a top seller in this category though as I seem to see them everywhere.

Is there anything unique about this product?

I like that the basket can be accessed from the front of the buggy. The bumper bar is also soft and bendy, which I’ve not seen before. And I love the fold-down system, which is super-easy.

Overall Review of Joie Strollers

Even if you are just selecting a stroller from the Joie brand, the wide variety of models may leave you undecided for days. While every stroller may have its individual pros and cons, what may appear as a benefit to one parent may turn out to be a downside to another. Therefore, it is important to consider some of these factors before you settle on a stroller:

  • One-hand folding system (convenience)
  • Type of fold
  • Comfort features (for both child and parent)
  • Safety precautions
  • All-wheel suspension
  • Portability
  • Weight and size (easy storage)
  • Affordability
  • Lifestyle habits

*apart from the usual five-point harness and safety brake

**apart from the usual multi-recline positions and calf support

It is evident that Joie stays true to its commitments and roots, continuing to give its best effort and provide the highest quality products to the parenting community. Mostly designed with portability in mind, Joie is a great choice for families who are constantly out and about and for those who travel often. Despite being lightweight, their strollers are known to be sturdy and stable, which often comes as a pleasant surprise to their users.

What makes these Joie strollers stand out is also how smooth and quick the one-hand folding mechanism is, providing the ultimate convenience for families. A slight downside to these strollers may be the size and accessibility of the storage basket. However, for strollers designed to be used mainly for traveling, the size of the baskets can suffice.

The Joie Pact is an ultra-light, ultra-compact stroller. Thanks to its small dimensions, this stroller is ideal for holidays and travels. It can be folded with just one hand. Once folded, you can carry it either in your hand, on the shoulder or in the carry bag that comes with the stroller. The small wheels with a mild suspension are better on smoother urban surfaces. The Pact comes with a surprisingly spacious and an easily accessible shopping basket. The non-reversible can be reclined sufficiently even for babies that can't sit up independently yet. You can place your newborn into a car seat with adapters as well.

Your questions about the Joie Pact

Hi, do you know what is the upright angle for the Joie Pact please?

The Pact is unfortunately not upright at all, so count on a slanted seat for sure. I don't know the exact angle, but it's about 115-120 degrees when the seat is as upright as it gets.

Joie Pact Test, Reisebuggy Joie Handgepäck

Chefsessel für kleine Urlauber: Der Joie Pact Reisebuggy im Test

Inhaltsverzeichnis

  • Sehr wendig.

joie tourist vs pact lite

joie tourist vs pact lite

joie tourist vs pact lite

Verstellbarer Schieber & gefederte Reifen

joie tourist vs pact lite

joie tourist vs pact lite

joie tourist vs pact lite

joie tourist vs pact lite

joie tourist vs pact lite

Joie Pact Test: Unser Fazit

Joie pact vs joie tourist

  • s SibbyP111 Posted 27-02-22 I have the Joie tourist. It’s fab, folds down really small and compact, lightweight, has straps so you can sling it over your shoulders like a backpack. One click to fold it down and put it up, so easy. Reclines for nap time. Can’t recommend it highly enough. I travel a lot on trains etc and it’s great and so easy and hassle free to use.
