LZ World Tour announce Mondello dates

Over 20,000 fans attended the popular drifting event last year.

Kildare's Mondello Park circuit will play host to the LZ World Tour on July 22 and 23, the popular drifting event making its second stop at the Irish track since breaking attendance records last year.

Other stops on the LZ tour include Englishtown in the USA, Toronto Motor Sport Park and Calder Park in Australia. Twenty thousand fans attended the Irish event last year - a record event planners hope to break next weekend.

Among the driver line-up for this year is YouTube personality Adam LZ, also a professional driver in Formula DRIFT, with more than three million YouTube subscribers as of this year.

"We're stoked to be coming back to Ireland this year for stop two of the LZ World Tour," he said.

"Irish fans absolutely blew us away with their support at last year's event so we knew we had to come back bigger and badder in 2023!"

Also making appearances at the event are professional drifters Chelsea Denofa, Hert, Colette Davis, Chris Rudnik, Luke Fink, Sultan Al Qassami, Rad Dan Burkett, Sammit and Jimmy Oakes, as well as Irish drivers James Deane and Conor and Jack Shanahan.

Spectators will have the chance to see many of the drivers featured go head-to-head for the first time, along with the country's biggest display of over 400 show cars, ranging from supercars to modified motors.

Mondello Park

Opened in 1968, Mondello Park is Ireland's sole international-level racing circuit after businessman Martin Birrane bought the track in 1987 - his investment led to the opening of the international circuit in 1998.

Since then, the circuit has hosted rounds of the British Superbike Championship from 2003 until 2007; the British GT series from 2004 to 2006; and it was the first venue outside of the UK to host rounds of the British Touring Car Championship, which it did from 2001 to 2006.

Current events held at the track include rallycross, the Formula Vee Festival and the prestigious Leinster Trophy race, past winners of which include F1 champions Ayrton Senna and Mika Hakkinen, F1 race winner and commentator John Watson and Jordan Grand Prix founder Eddie Jordan.

Danish driver Johnny Laursen has held the lap record on the 3.126km international layout since 2006 when he set a time of 1:28.708 behind the wheel of the Benetton B197 F1 car.

The fastest lap time set on the 1.860km national circuit was set last year, with Cian Carey taking a BOSS Ireland open-wheeler around the track in a time of 0:49.275.

WHAT TO EXPECT

For the first time ever, Adam LZ is bringing the LZ World Tour to the West Coast … and he’s bringing the whole crew with him! That’s right, on March 23rd & 24th, the 2024 LZ World Tour will be kicking off at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, CA in what is set to be one hell of a show from start to finish! With 2 days of non-stop action on and off track, keep on reading down below to find out what you can expect when we touchdown in The Golden State, then with very limited tickets available, make sure you grab your tickets by clicking “Buy Tickets” above before it’s too late.

EVENT FORMAT:

For all LZ World Tour events, you’ll be able to enjoy our very own LZ World Tour unique, fun and exciting competition format. 29 drivers will enter our Qualifying session on the first day of every LZ World Tour event, where all 29 drivers will Qualify in positions 1st-29th. Drivers who place from 1st-13th in Qualifying will automatically make it into our Day 2 “Main Show” Top 16. However, drivers who Qualifying from 14-29th will go head-to-head in our Day 1 “Last Chance Top 16” competition, with the Top 3 finishers making it through to the main show! Fun, right?

As always with the LZ World Tour though, there’ll be heaps more for you to enjoy both on and off the track! On-track, outside of our main competition items both days, there’ll be plenty of jam sessions and other fun things like fantasy battles, exhibition laps and lots more tyre-shredding action for you to enjoy. Then off-track, we’ll have epic show cars on display in our car show area, a whole host of your favourite vendor booths to check out like LZMFG, Drift HQ and more, plus food vendors and lots of extra bits and pieces for you to sink your teeth into!

That’s right – We’re ready to rock the roof off Mondello Park for the first time in 2024 for the next instalment of the Drift Games Invitational events with the awesome Club Loose Ireland guys. With our usual 2 days of on-track partying and one hell of a party on night one, this is the only way to kick off what is already set to be one hell of a year in 2024!

Spectator tickets, both single day and overnight camping tickets, are available from January 26th, 2024 from the Mondello Park website by clicking here .

What is the Drift Games Invitational?

The Drift Games Invitational is Ireland’s craziest drift party featuring 2 days of track time, 100 drivers, 4 track layouts, 1 crazy afterparty, competitions, passenger rides and more drift action than a normal human can handle!

When & where is the Drift Games Invitational?

All Drift Games Invitational events take place in Mondello Park in Co. Kildare, Ireland – Ireland’s only international racing circuit. As for when they’re on, check out the list of upcoming dates or the date of the next event at the top of this page.

Where can I get spectator tickets?

Spectator tickets will available on Mondello Park’s website and will be priced at €50 for a one-person weekend camping ticket or €20 for a single-day spectator ticket without camping. Kids under 12 go free.

Spectator tickets will not be available at the gate, so tickets must be purchased online before the event. Anyone purchasing a general admission ticket for one day only must leave Mondello Park by 6.30pm once the relevant day’s track action has ended.

Is there an age limit to attend the Drift Games Invitational?

Sole attendees MUST be 18 years of age or older to camp at this event. If you are under 18, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times if you are attending the event. Camping at the event is not permitted for persons under 18 years of age.

How do I get a driver ticket for a Invitational?

Does my driver ticket include crew members?

No, all drivers passes include driver entry to the event only. Any persons coming with a driver must have a valid spectator admission ticket at the costs mentioned above.

Can I drive for just one day?

Currently no, you are unable to purchase a driver ticket for just one day. Driver passes are available for both days of the event only. However, if we do choose to release single day tickets at any point we will announce this on our social media channels and you will find tickets in the above driver ticket section.

Can 2 people drive the same car?

If two people will be double-driving the same car for the weekend, there will be an additional charge of €80.00 for the additional driver. A double-driver pass will only be eligible for two drivers driving the same car. You can add on the double-driving option when paying for your driver entry ticket.

Can I hire one of the Mondello Park garages for a Drift Games Invitational?

Yes, a total of just 10 double garages are available to hire for the Drift Games Invitational and garages cost €300.00 for a full garage (fits 3-4 cars) or €150.00 for a half garage (fits 2 cars).

What cars can be driven on track at a Drift Games Invitational?

What driver requirements are there for an Invitational?

What age do i need to be to drive at a drift games invitational, can i take passengers in my car.

In short, yes you can. However, there are certain rules and regulations that the driver, passenger and the car must adhere to in order to be able to take passengers. 

Please read our full Rules & Regulations information within the driver info & applications page for the latest information on this. Make sure you read all rules and regulations on this page so you have no issues on either day of the event.

Where do I get the passenger bands?

Passenger wristbands can be purchased in Mondello Park on both days of the event from the Drift Games merchandise shop at a cost of €20 for the entire weekend and will not be available to purchase online before the event. Bands purchased at the merchandise shop will only be given out after payment has been received and the purchaser has signed on. All passengers must be over the age of 18.

Do Drift Games arrange the passenger spins for me?

No, all passengers are responsible for approaching drivers and arranging passenger spins themselves. Purchasing a passenger spin band does not guarantee you a passenger spin, nor are there passenger spins with any driver in particular pre-arranged.

I want to get a passenger band. Can I rent a helmet?

No, unfortunately, we will not have helmets available to rent, so you will need to bring your own helmet to the event with you, or get one from someone at the event.

Might I be breathalyzed at the event?

Yes. If you are driving at an Invitational and are thought to be over the legal drink-drive limit, you may be breathalyzed by Mondello Park staff. If you read above the limit, you will not be allowed on track and your entry fee will not be refundable.

Will there be tire changing services at the event?

Yes, there will be a tire changing van present on both days of the event. Tire changing will come at a cost per tire, charged by the tire changing staff members directly.

Will there be security on site at the event?

Yes, we will have a full security team present throughout the entire duration of the event. As always, the security team will be focused on ensuring a safe and hassle-free event for all event attendees.

Do I have to camp in a tent?

If you have a weekend camping ticket and will be camping at the event, you will be able to bring a tent, campervan or caravan to our designated camping area at the event. Camping is not permitted in the Mondello Park garages or paddock.

Will there be power points available?

Power points are not guaranteed for any persons camping or driving at this event, so it is advised that you make your own provisions for power should you require it.

Do you have a full event map and timetable available?

Yes. Prior to each Drift Games Invitational event we will email all drivers for that event with a full driver information pack, which will contain the event map, track layouts, event timetable and all other relevant information you’ll need.

Where can I leave my trailer?

If you are bringing your car to the event on a trailer, please unload your car as quickly as possible and move your trailer to turn 3 of Mondello Park. On the morning of the event, a Drift Games marshal will direct you as to the exact location of the trailer parking section.

How can I enter as media to take photos/videos at a Drift Games Invitational?

Can I bring my trade stall to a Drift Games Invitational?

If you wish to bring your trade stall to the event, please send an email to [email protected] with more information about the stall you wish to bring to the event. We will come back to you as soon as possible.

All go at Mondello Park – Events during 2023

Mondello Park has exciting plans for the year ahead, from the Drift Masters European Championship, the return LZ World Tour, the annual Historic Racing Festival, Mondello24, the Irish Rally X series to the ICCR there is plenty to look forward to!

The LZ World Tour returns in July following a sensational debut in 2022 which attracted the largest ever attendance at a Mondello Park event. Starring Automotive YouTuber, Adam LZ, and a host of International stars, the two day celebration of motoring will feature insane Drift battles, guest appearances and a gathering of more than 500 of the Ireland’s best modified and performance cars.

The annual Mondello Park Historic Festival is the headline event of the 2023 Car Racing calendar. This years’ theme will be 100 years of Le Mans and some exciting cars from the famed 24 Hour race are being lined up to make guest appearances. Alongside the demonstration runs, the Kildare circuit will also be graced by the best of Historic Car Racing action from iconic cars from the last century, while off-track there will be a carnival, vintage fun fair, live bands, food village and sideshows which will provide and action packed day of family entertainment.

The remaining Car Race calendar dates will be filled by the close and competitive Irish Championship Circuit Racing (ICCR) and Irish Rally X series’. Following two years under the guidance of Mondello Park, ICCR continues to go from strength to strength as it heads into its third season. The championship will continue with five Mondello Park weekends, while adding a first overseas trip, to Anglesey in Wales. The five Mondello Park events will all take place over two days, with different classes racing on each day. The calendar will run between April and October with two weekends on the National Track layout and three on the International Track. To finish out the season the Fiesta 6 Hour Endurance Race will once again run in early November.

The Irish Rally X Championship is set for a massive year with an entirely new race weekend format, an influx of brand new Supercars and growing numbers in the supporting classes. The Championship has five weekends on the schedule, with each Mondello Park event consisting of two championship rounds on two different circuits. The season opener, in early March, was the first to use the new double-header format which delighted the drivers competing. The second event in June will see the return of the ever popular British Rally X series, with the Irish competitors travelling in the opposite direction in August to race at Pembrey in Wales. The championship will be completed by two more Mondello Park weekends in November and December.

Adding a different challenge to the Mondello Park calendar will be the ‘Mondello 24’ returning for the third year in June. Mondello 24 is a unique cycle race which sees individuals and teams go head to head to complete the greatest number of laps around the Mondello Park International Track in 24 hours. This unique test of endurance gives cyclists the opportunity to race through the darkness and into the rising sun while pushing themselves to their absolute limits.

Three different Car Culture events will complete the calendar with the first of those being the return of European Drift Masters Championship in May which Mondello Park will host the opening round, bringing Ireland’s top International Drift stars home to compete against the best Europe has to offer.

September’s Retro Stock show will see Mondello Park taken over by owners and fans of Classic high-performance and competition cars with the track being filled by Retro cars being driven as they were designed to be. In October it will be the turn of Japanese Cars to take over the venue, as Jap-Fest returns for another year. This celebration of Japanese motoring has been Ireland’s biggest for more than a decade and this years’ show will once again feature a gathering of hundreds of Japanese machines alongside Irish Championship Drifting action.
