Do you want to experience the thrill of travel nursing without leaving Idaho and the St. Luke’s Health System? Then the Clinical Support Unit’s internal Specialty Travel RN Program is for you!

CSU is looking for adventurous people that want to help across the system.

You’ll be able to travel and gain experience at all eight St. Luke’s locations – Boise, Meridian, Nampa, McCall, Wood River, Elmore, Magic Valley, and Jerome. Typical assignments are 13-weeks in length at any of our eight St. Luke’s sites across the System but could be as short as one week depending on need. When you're not on assignment, you will be required to work at your home-base hospital. Your “home base” can be located at any of our St. Luke’s sites.

What you can expect from this role

This is a permanent position with St. Luke's Health System and eligible for employee benefits including PTO

Full Time variable shift (required to work both days & nights); Shifts will not be changed more than once in a 6-week block

When you travel outside of your home area, it also includes a $100/wk food stipend

Housing allowance or accommodations at one of our owned condos/apartments

Paid travel time and mileage reimbursement to and from the assignment

Tiered compensation rate based on your nursing degree and experience

Qualifications

Education: Nursing Degree

Experience: 2 years RN experience in Med-Surg

Licenses/Certifications: Current RN License in the State of Practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Provider Certified through American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance required

Licensure Requirements

Idaho is part of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), so you will not need an Idaho nursing license to practice travel nursing in this state if you have a valid license for another Compact state.

However, if you don’t have a multistate license, you will need to apply for licensure by endorsement. 

To receive licensure by endorsement , applicants must meet these requirements:

  • Apply for a nurse portal.
  • Pay the licensure fee.
  • Complete a fingerprint-based background check.
  • Verify your current state license via Nursys Ⓡ or the Verification of Nurse Licensure in Idaho form .
  • Verify your offer of employment.

Temporary licenses are also available and are nonrenewable. A temporary license will expire at the conclusion of the term for which it is issued or the issuance of a renewable license. The requirements for a temporary license include:

  • Proof of current licensure in good standing.
  • Documentation of employment within three years.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Idaho Board of Nursing application requirements.

Licensing fees in Idaho are as follows:

  • PN – $138.25 (fingerprint fee included)
  • RN – $138.25 (fingerprint fee included)
  • Temporary license – $25.00

Is Idaho a Walk-Through State?

Yes, Idaho is a walk-through state.

LPNs, RNs and APRNs who wish to renew their license must meet CEU requirements (called Continued Competency Requirements in Idaho). These requirements include completing between 15 to 30 hours of continuing education and up to 10 contact hours in pharmacology for those with prescriptive authority.
