After a TERRIBLE time buying a ticket, I went with someone else. They charged me anyway, refused refund. Just stole from me. A month later, they made ANOTHER charge - total fraud. DO NOT use this company, they WILL steal from you.

Responsiveness in a difficult situation

A planned business trip to Denmark was in jeopardy, when my connecting flight to LAX was cancelled an hour before its flight time. No other options existed to reach LAX before the international flight departed.International carriers have different policies in these types of situations. Maze, who handled my rebooking for the next flight out of LAX the following day went above and beyond to smooth out the entire process.

Good experience

I was assisted by Dylan Cooper, my booking was cancelled for no reason, Dylan reached out to me directly and resolved the issue. He even went a step further and gave me a rate that was lower than what was quoted on other websites. I appreciate the support, will definitely use his website going forward. Before someone pipes up, yes we are to blame as we wanted seats without paying over the odds. But at the time Crystal Travel had the seats on the perfect days at a good prices, others were cheaper but as we had used them once before we trusted they would be OK.

After booking with Crystal Travel we contacted our airline direct who issued us the e-ticket. So we didn't think there could be a problem. We had our tickets and were looking forward to our trip. How silly do we feel now.

We were to fly to Bangkok tomorrow on a 2 week holiday, late last night we had a call from Crystal Travel saying that the Airline (Qatar) had cancelled our seats but they could book us onto another better airline (aeroflot) we didn't want to fly with Aeroflot and there would be an extra charge for this anyway. As it was late at night we couldn't contact the airline in the UK. So we called the US where we were told that Crystal Travel had requested a refund for our seats. It seems that as they were our agents they could do this without our consent and now the flight had no seats for us.

As you can imagine we were/are devastated and many heated phones calls through the night and all today proceed the news. It seems Crystal Travel have done this many many times over the years and this time have left at least a dozen in the same situation with Qatar airlines just today. Qatar although very helpful said our contract was with the agent not them there was nothing they could do for us and at this late stage there were next to no seats left.

We were forced to pay almost double for new tickets this time direct with the airline . We are lucky we were able to do this I'm sure others may not have been able to.

We have been told by Crystal Travel that they would refund us and we have been in contact with our card issuer who said we are covered BUT THAT ISN'T THE POINT.

We have just paid more for flights than I have ever paid in my life just so we don't lose our dream holiday.

There is something to be said for booking with one of the big name travel agents. You may pay a little more but you will be able to sleep at night. Crystal Travel are liars, cheats and some of the rudest people we have ever had to deal with. Don't be fooled by their UK number and address to are based overseas.

We have taken legal advice and have been told we have a case for breach of contract and will be taking it further.

Crystal Travel also seem to fix reviews as you always see amazing reviews just after really bad ones. DON'T BE FOOLED like us.

You have had a really nasty experience with yet another dodgy third party operator.

You summed it up in your first paragraph and have learnt the hard way that these seemingly 'good prices' simply don't exist (except in their advertising).

You are right saeedrashid, times have changed and the internet has allowed anyone in any country to set themselves up as agents and take your hard earned money. The number of scams and fraud will only increase as travellers seeking bargain fares drop into their greasy hands.

There are of course good agents such as Trailfinders that do a really good job and most people on this forum would recommend them.

As with all things on the net, spend a few minutes trawling through the reviews before parting with your hard earned cash.

Many rip off agencies have crept up with the growth of the Internet and the sad fact some people will do anything to save a few bucks.

Crystal has a terrible reputation, but this is a new low for them, cancelling your flights for the cheaper option and telling you Aeroflot was better than Qatar.

However it doesn't matter, unless they are breaking the law, or their contractual terms and conditions, which they are not as they reserve the right to change, then people who are blinded by dollar signs and can't be bothered to spend five mins researching them,,,never mind reading the terms and conditions before ticking the box and agreeing to them, will continue to throw money at them and they will continue to thrive. As they say, there is one born every minute.

Your voice is simply another one lost in the crowd.

Crystal Travel is a trading name of the Moresand Group, and are Atol protected. To hold an Atol they have to be based in the UK, although they could have a call centre abroad, like lots of companies do.

So do most people who hang out on here trying to give advice to travellers. Fact is the lure of low fares seems to make people put blinders on. They don't read the Terms and Conditions, they don't bother to research on sites like this whether or not the company has a reputation for messing things up, and yet when they do have problems they feel that coming here and warning everyone is somehow going to make a difference. No amount of posts seem to stop some people from going ahead and sending thousands of pounds/dollars/euros to someone they have never heard of before.... just because they have a nice website and the price is low....

Ticket Booking Woes Double Charges, and E-Ticket Delays

The telephone operator had a strong accent, making it difficult to understand his words. Furthermore, after I booked tickets, they mistakenly charged me twice and then had to issue a refund—such a chaotic situation. It took excessive time to receive the eTicket, making it the worst and most frustrating experience I've ever had. I have no desire to use this service again.

Unsatisfied with the service

Unsatisfied with the service of Crystal Travel. I don't wish to lose 10 hours of planning time. They called me to say they'd have to double charge my CC; however, I can get a single refund. I wasn't comfortable, but I agreed to continue; they called back to inform me that my payment from the previous attempt didn't work, so my tickets won't be given. Then I'll wait and await my cash to be received, and no tickets will be issued after all this. I am so disappointed!!

I've not yet flown on the flight I booked through them, but one of their representatives, Ben Clare called me ( I nearly didn't pick up because I thought that it was spam) to ensure that I was aware of how to check in and that I had all the information about the trip clear.

The company displays incorrect prices to ensure that you are at the top of results on search engines for flights. Once you're on the site, the price is changed, but not apparent. I left the area without giving any permission to process my information. I never clicked a button. However, the company stores your data in real-time and tries to contact you. While on the phone, they're rude and will not delete your personal information. Insistence and fraud are the ways this business earns money. Be aware of and avoid this business.

Poor customer service and no follow-ups

This is a complete fraud - I booked a flight in July towards Asia in April, only to find out the day before my flight was canceled MONTHS ago. The agency did not inform me of my flight cancellation, and they never took responsibility. I was then required to contact the airlines to ask them to place me on a waitlist for the most convenient flight times, and Crystal Air CANCELLED them on "my behalf." Make it clear. Don't make reservations with them: poor customer service and no follow-ups.

I made a reservation for a flight through Crystal Travel and never received an actual ticket. This isn't a legitimate travel agency. They claim that your access will be confirmed within 12 hours. However, I waited more than 24 hours. I needed to call multiple times to discover that the ticket I purchased through Crystal air was not verified by the airlines, so I didn't have access. A bad experience and appears to be a scam business.

This company is a fraud. I purchased an airline ticket to Dubai at 5k in just 24 hours. The key was canceled my ticket due to a family emergency. A person named Samuel called me and asked me to provide the death certificate(like the word "death certificate") and then said that the only way I could get the money I paid back would be to provide the document. The business is a joke. Stay out of my way; my bank will refund the money... not just that they keep canceling and re-issuing tickets with different airlineference numbers. Save yourself the hassle. Funny, my cousin bought the same flight with Expedia and received his money back but was not requested to produce an official death certificate.

After contesting this charge to my credit card provider Crystal Travel is pulling all the stops on the itinerary to stop the reimbursement. Be cautious, do not book using Crystal Travel. They also offer refunds for flight cancellations. However, they are not respecting this. They also have a reputation for calling you within minutes after you've purchased your tickets and informing you that the cost of the flight has gone up. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!

Perhaps the most unpleasant experience I've ever experienced was booking an air ticket. I booked my flight online, and when I finally clicked the checkout button, the pop-up window appeared, informing me that they would be raising my cost from $162 to $177. After clicking OK, I was happy with the price increase. I booked the hotel and was charged my card. It was confirmed via email. I was saying that the charge was confirmed. I received a phone call and was informed that the seats were sold out and that I needed to pay an additional 60 dollars to be on the same plane. This was after having purchased a non-refundable return flight. The company was terrible, and I had a horrible experience. I would not recommend it.

This site is a total fraud

This site is a total fraud. I was sent a confirmation of my flight and was informed that they should "receive a call from their verification team shortly" following my making the booking. I did not receive a phone call! I called their customer service within the next 24 hours a few times, requesting the confirmation number of my booking ID, but each time, they asked for an additional $500 than they said they would. Don't spend time with these small businesses that waste your money, time, and energy.

The company I was quoted tickets to, but after I bought them, they contacted me to inform me that they were more expensive. It was the original lure and switch. I'll never use these again. After I bought tickets at the higher price, I was informed in a dream that the tickets cost 50 cents less than the price I paid. An awful experience and not one at their call center could be a sign that they're in NJ.

Tracy Smith helped me book an international flight

Tracy Smith helped me book an international flight. She was kind and helped me find a practical and cheaper flight than I could find on the internet. I came across their site at the last chance but could not hold back from making the reservation. When I checked the flight the following day, it was no more available, and the price was up by $300. So I decided to phone to inquire about price quotes.

It was straightforward, and even though the tickets were expensive but the cost I paid for them was less expensive than other airlines. I'm glad I came across their site and am happy with Stacy's customer support abilities. She's an absolute gem! I can think I'll be booking with them again in the future.

This company is a HUGE scam

This company is a HUGE scam, do not buy tickets! I ran a Google search for a ticket to an international flight and believed I was buying the most affordable flight at the lowest cost. I received my reservation confirmation from the travel agency. However, it was not by the carrier. The next time I tried to call to confirm the reservation but was informed that my reservation was on hold because of being charged "taxes" not being paid in addition to $200. I waited 24 hours to confirm my reservation with the airline but was informed that there were no reservations or holds for me. Thankfully I was able to manage this transaction through my bank!

Never Book Any Travel Via This Agency

When I realized that I had booked the wrong flight, I immediately contacted Crystal Travel to see if they could help me change my travel date. W wasn't sent my receipt or travel itinerary when I submitted my request. I was denied the opportunity to make necessary adjustments after navigating an old website with confusing email and phone communications.

Worse, the customer service representatives I dealt with did not seem to make any effort. No refund or discount was offered, and I was not reprimanded for my purchase agreement. I was not treated with respect or worked hard to keep me satisfied.

This booking agency was only discovered after I did a Google flight search to find the best deals. I didn't save any money by choosing Crystal Travel. I will never book any travel via this agency again and will advise anyone who might be considering doing so. Train your customer support staff in customer service skills.

Make sure there are no loopholes in the purchasing process. If you are unable to work with airlines, please exit the company. Although I am not opposed to giving a company multiple chances before deciding to stop doing business with them again, this was too costly for me. Save yourself the headache of searching for Crystal Travel.

Works but may not be for everyone

Since I had read so many negative reviews about this agency, I was genuinely scared to book with them. I even went to the airport the day before to confirm everything was fine. In my case, there were no problems. Crystal Travel was my travel agent. It was simple and cheaper than other agencies.

It was more accessible to check in and out of the airport with my hand luggage (three in total). It is essential to mention that the agency almost spammed me with the request for an online review before I traveled. This was disappointing as it only reinforced the impression of dealing with spam agencies. But, everything went well, so I'm leaving this review as a semi-positive one.

Excellent work by Crystal Travel

Planet Earth is getting rocked by the biggest solar storm in decades – and the potential effects have those people in charge of power grids, communications systems and satellites on edge.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says there have been measurable effects and impacts from the geomagnetic storm that has been visible as aurora across vast swathes of the Northern Hemisphere. So far though, NOAA has seen no reports of major damage.

There has been some degradation and loss to communication systems that rely on high-frequency radio waves, NOAA told NPR, as well as some preliminary indications of irregularities in power systems.

"Simply put, the power grid operators have been busy since yesterday working to keep proper, regulated current flowing without disruption," said Shawn Dahl, service coordinator for the Boulder, Co.-based Space Weather Prediction Center at NOAA.

"Satellite operators are also busy monitoring spacecraft health due to the S1-S2 storm taking place along with the severe-extreme geomagnetic storm that continues even now," Dahl added, saying some GPS systems have struggled to lock locations and offered incorrect positions.

NOAA's GOES-16 satellite captured a flare erupting occurred around 2 p.m. EDT on May 9, 2024.

As NOAA had warned late Friday, the Earth has been experiencing a G5, or "Extreme," geomagnetic storm . It's the first G5 storm to hit the planet since 2003, when a similar event temporarily knocked out power in part of Sweden and damaged electrical transformers in South Africa.

The NOAA center predicted that this current storm could induce auroras visible as far south as Northern California and Alabama.

Around the world on social media, posters put up photos of bright auroras visible in Russia , Scandinavia , the United Kingdom and continental Europe . Some reported seeing the aurora as far south as Mallorca, Spain .

The source of the solar storm is a cluster of sunspots on the sun's surface that is 17 times the diameter of the Earth. The spots are filled with tangled magnetic fields that can act as slingshots, throwing huge quantities of charged particles towards our planet. These events, known as coronal mass ejections, become more common during the peak of the Sun's 11-year solar cycle.

A powerful solar storm is bringing northern lights to unusual places

Usually, they miss the Earth, but this time, NOAA says several have headed directly toward our planet, and the agency predicted that several waves of flares will continue to slam into the Earth over the next few days.

While the storm has proven to be large, predicting the effects from such incidents can be difficult, Dahl said.

Shocking problems

The most disruptive solar storm ever recorded came in 1859. Known as the "Carrington Event," it generated shimmering auroras that were visible as far south as Mexico and Hawaii. It also fried telegraph systems throughout Europe and North America.

While this geomagnetic storm will not be as strong, the world has grown more reliant on electronics and electrical systems. Depending on the orientation of the storm's magnetic field, it could induce unexpected electrical currents in long-distance power lines — those currents could cause safety systems to flip, triggering temporary power outages in some areas.

The storm is also likely to disrupt the ionosphere, a section of Earth's atmosphere filled with charged particles. Some long-distance radio transmissions use the ionosphere to "bounce" signals around the globe, and those signals will likely be disrupted. The particles may also refract and otherwise scramble signals from the global positioning system, according to Rob Steenburgh, a space scientist with NOAA. Those effects can linger for a few days after the storm.

Like Dahl, Steenburgh said it's unclear just how bad the disruptions will be. While we are more dependent than ever on GPS, there are also more satellites in orbit. Moreover, the anomalies from the storm are constantly shifting through the ionosphere like ripples in a pool. "Outages, with any luck, should not be prolonged," Steenburgh said.

What Causes The Northern Lights? Scientists Finally Know For Sure

The radiation from the storm could have other undesirable effects. At high altitudes, it could damage satellites, while at low altitudes, it's likely to increase atmospheric drag, causing some satellites to sink toward the Earth.

The changes to orbits wreak havoc, warns Tuija Pulkkinen, chair of the department of climate and space sciences at the University of Michigan. Since the last solar maximum, companies such as SpaceX have launched thousands of satellites into low Earth orbit. Those satellites will now see their orbits unexpectedly changed.

"There's a lot of companies that haven't seen these kind of space weather effects before," she says.

The International Space Station lies within Earth's magnetosphere, so its astronauts should be mostly protected, Steenburgh says.

In a statement, NASA said that astronauts would not take additional measures to protect themselves. "NASA completed a thorough analysis of recent space weather activity and determined it posed no risk to the crew aboard the International Space Station and no additional precautionary measures are needed," the agency said late Friday.

While this storm will undoubtedly keep satellite operators and utilities busy over the next few days, individuals don't really need to do much to get ready.

"As far as what the general public should be doing, hopefully they're not having to do anything," Dahl said. "Weather permitting, they may be visible again tonight." He advised that the largest problem could be a brief blackout, so keeping some flashlights and a radio handy might prove helpful.

And don't forget to go outside and look up, adds Steenburgh. This event's aurora is visible much further south than usual.

A faint aurora can be detected by a modern cell phone camera, he adds, so even if you can't see it with your eyes, try taking a photo of the sky.

• • Standby reservations are not allowed for unaccompanied minor travel.
• • Traveller’s name cannot be changed.
• • The same airline must be used.
• • Original reservation must be canceled before the original departure date and time.
• • Changes to routing, dates, or other details may not be changeable.
• • Some airlines may not permit any changes even with a fee.
• i. Traveling with a pet, other than a guide dog, requires special handling by the airline and there will be an additional fee for this service. Pet handling service fees vary from airline to airline.
• ii. Pets in the cabin are limited by size and the number allowed on each flight.
• iii. Alternatively, your pet may travel in the baggage compartment of your flight. However, each airline has certain restrictions, depending on the anticipated temperature in the baggage compartment. (Some carriers have a blackout period for carrying animals in cargo during the summer and winter.)
• iv. Cages and other shipping containers must meet the minimum standard for size, ventilation, strength, sanitation, and design for safe handling. (Sky kennels furnished by the airlines meet these requirements.)
• v. Health certificates are required by all shippers of pets. Please check with your Veterinarian for more details.
• vi. Many airlines restrict certain breeds, such as pug-nosed dogs (Pugs, Pekingese, Boxers) and cats (Persians) that might find it especially difficult to breathe at high altitudes.
