7 Gloucester Road

Wan Chai, Hong Kong

While specific reasons for Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR) rejection in India can vary, common factors may include:

  • Incomplete Information: Failure to provide accurate and complete details during the PAR application process can lead to rejection.
  • Documentary Issues: Submission of incorrect passport information may lead to refusal of your PAR.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To qualify, ensure you hold a valid Indian passport with a minimum of six months' validity. Additionally, plan for a stay of up to 14 days in Hong Kong. If these criteria are not met, the application may be ineligible.
  • Security Concerns: Any perceived security or immigration concerns related to the applicant may lead to rejection.
  • Past Violations: Individuals with a history of violating immigration rules or overstaying in Hong Kong may face PAR rejection.

If your passport is from cities like Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, etc., there's a higher chance of your PAR registration being Unsuccessful. In case of an unsuccessful PAR, you may submit an application for a visit visa directly to the Immigration Department of the HKSAR. For details, you may refer to the " Visit/Transit " webpage of the Immigration Department of the HKSAR.

If your PAR is not successful, you'll get this message.

Hong Kong PAR unsuccessful message

  • Not presenting both of these documents will result in being denied boarding for transportation heading to HKSAR and being refused entry upon arrival in HKSAR.

Immigration Requirements:

  • Fulfil normal immigration criteria for entry, including holding a valid travel document, demonstrating returnability, and having no security or criminal concerns.
  • Must have a genuine purpose of visit, adequate funds, and onward/return tickets.

The details provided in the pre-arrival registration must match exactly with the information in the passport. Additionally, the same passport linked to the registration should be used when visiting Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Tourist Visa

Application to get a tourist visa for Hong Kong is to be made with pre-arrival registration (PAR). It is a mandatory procedure to be followed by Indian applicants. However, it is important that you match the eligibility criteria to get this permit. The process for application with PAR is as follows:

  • Visit the official website of the Hong Kong Immigration to register for the permit.
  • Fill out the application form with correct details.
  • The system will provide the result for the registration instantly.
  • A Notification Slip will be generated which is to be printed out on an A4-size paper.
  • Travel to Hong Kong with your passport, Notification Slip and other requirements if requested.
  • You will then be cleared by the Immigration Officer to enter the country.

At the time of providing details for PAR, you need to make sure that the information provided is correct and matches with the details on the passport. If you fail to do so, there are chances that PAR will fail as well. Therefore, it is safer if you consider professional assistance.

If PAR doesn’t work, you can apply offline to the Hong Kong Immigration Department directly. This process is to be followed upon failing of the PAR system as PAR is compulsory for applications for Hong Kong tourist visa from India . The offline process is given as follows:

  • After the processing, the visa label will be air mailed back to you which is to be pasted on a blank page in your passport.

The documents can also be faxed directly to the Immigration Department to save time, however, you will still have to air mail the original application form and the photograph. When you are filling out the offline application form, you need to ensure that the information is correct and the details match the documentary proof that is provided. If there are any kind of flaws related to the information, there are chances that you may have to face visa rejection which can affect your future applications to get a permit for Hong Kong or any other country. How to Get a Hong Kong Visa Online

An Indian citizen is not offered a Hong Kong visa on arrival, they need to procure their visa online which is essentially an electronic approval called pre-arrival registration or PAR. A pre-arrival registration allows you a visa-free stay in Hong Kong for up to 14 days, letting you enter the country multiple times for the purposes of tourism, business, transit (only if you leave the airport) or to meet family and friends. To get a pre-arrival registration, you need to submit a scanned copy of the front and back covers of the passport, provided the passport has at least 6 months validity from the date of travel. Then your OTA will fill up your Hong Kong visa application on your behalf and send it to the Hong Kong high commission for processing. The Hong Kong eVisa online or a pre-arrival registration is then sent by your agent to your registered email id within 24 to 48 hours. To get a PAR approval, all you need to do is pay the agent commission, which is INR 500 if you were to get it done through Yatra as it specialises in Hong Kong visas. There is no visa fee payable to the Hong Kong high commission as this is a part of a visa-free programme, granting Indian citizens a stay of up to 14 days in the country.

Eligibility Criteria For A Hong Kong Visa For Indians

If an Indian citizen is planning to travel to Hong Kong, they need to get a visa first. In order to make things less complicated and save a traveller's time at immigration upon arrival, it has done away with the Hong Kong visa on arrival. Since 2017 the government of Hong Kong has introduced a Hong Kong pre-arrival registration or PAR that grants an electronic travel authorisation to Indian citizens to travel to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). This document serves the purpose of a visa and allows multiple entry into the country for a period of up to 14 days on each visit. But you need to get your Hong Kong visa application processed by an OTA who would do the necessary documentation on your behalf and grant you the Hong Kong eVisa online.

The PAR visa travel authorisation comes with a validity of 6 months from the date of approval. Hong Kong Visa Types

Ahead of going forward with the Hong Kong eVisa apply online process, you need to be aware of the different categories of visas that exist for Hong Kong, and which best applies to you. Among the visas granted to Indian citizens there are the following:

Hong Kong Visitor's Visa

Hong Kong offers a visa-free stay for citizens of most countries starting typically from 7 days, 14 days, 30 days to 90 days, though this wholly depends on the country in question. Only British nationals are allowed to stay in Hong Kong for up to 180 days without a visa. In order to stay longer than your visa-free period, you need to apply for a visa or entry permit ahead of travelling to Hong Kong. For such stays you need to show proof of funds whether they are adequate to support your stay in the country without work, and you also need to have a return ticket unless you are in transit to mainland China or Macau Special Administrative Region. This category of visa does not allow visitors to take up an employment or establish a business enterprise, or sign up for a course in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR)

An Indian citizen planning a stay in Hong Kong that does not go beyond 14 days can safely opt for a Hong Kong PAR approval. This serves the purpose of a multiple-entry visa, letting you stay in Hong Kong for up to 14 days per visit, and is valid for a period of up to 6 months. This PAR approval is provided for purposes of tourism and leisure, to meet your family and friends, for attending a business meeting or if you are a passenger in transit. But you do not need this document in case you are not going to exit the International Transit Zone at the Hong Kong airport. You can get this document with the help of an OTA who will fill up the pre-arrival registration application on your behalf, considering your passport has at least 6 months validity from the date of travel. The approvals come in from the Hong Kong embassy within 48 hours from the time of submitting, letting you plan an impromptu trip to Hong Kong. But you need to carry a hard copy of this document at immigration clearance and also while boarding the flight to Hong Kong . It is a completely hassle-free procedure to get a pre-arrival registration or PAR for Hong Kong.
