Many are featured in other productions, including The Crown , Rebecca , Enola Holmes , and even a Jonas Brothers music video . Livingston Estate

Livingston estate, where the garden party scene during season three (episode one) takes place, was filmed at Squerryes Court . The 17th-century manor house is located just outside the town of Westerham in Kent. While the house and gardens aren’t open to the public anymore, the National Garden Scheme days. The property also encompasses a vineyard (with tours and tastings) and dining options available to the public.

The Kent Estate

Alice and Will Mondrich get an upgraded living situation during season three. Known as the Kent Estate in the series, the residence is portrayed by Kingston Bagpuize House in real life. Location manager Tony Hood chose the setting for its loveliness and authenticity. “You can see that the furnace has been used, the dining table has been used, it has a lived-in quality that felt very much like a home,” he said in a press brief.

Fans may recognize the setting as a backdrop in other productions including Downtown Abbey and Emma , and the home and gardens are open to visitors on specific days throughout the season.

Lady Tilley Arnold’s Residence

lady tilly's dining room in bridgerton

Season three introduces Lady Tilley Arnold, a wealthy widow at the helm of her late husband’s estate. Basildon Park , previously used as the exterior of the Featherington family’s garden, portrays the interiors of Lady Tilley’s home. “This season, we’ve gone more inside Basildon because it has fantastic interiors [with] an unbelievable staircase that just looks fabulous,” Hood said in the brief. “Tilley lives in the central town and doesn't want to be in amongst the normal scene of the ton, but she is obviously well-to-do, with an estate of her own, and she runs it very well.”

The Hawkins Residence

Lord Hawkins is another eccentric character who debuts in season three. For his estate, the production team chose Grimsthorpe Castle to represent the interiors and exteriors. The building boasts a slightly quirky look thanks to a mix of Tudor and Baroque architectural styles. Inside, it’s brimming with exquisite rooms (which, yes, fans can tour along with the property’s parkland and gardens). The castle’s Vanburgh Hall sets the scene for a dreamy ball. “We had to bring in changes that weren’t typical of a Regency house,” Hood added. “We reasoned that Hawkins would have gone for something a little bit strange.”

The Cowper Residence

bridgerton season three filming locations

The home of Cressida Cowper and her family is portrayed by Pitzhanger Manor , which is famous for being the former country house of Sir John Soane, one of Britain's most influential architects. Located in London’s Ealing Green area, the building also houses a contemporary art gallery, and fans can visit the historic spot . For the interiors of the Cowper residence, the production team wanted to create a masculine atmosphere to contrast with the pale pinks Cressida is often seen in. “I wanted her to look like a caged bird in this very horrible, dark, foreboding space—but it still had to be within the opulent Bridgertonworld,” production designer Alison Gartshore said in a press brief. “It's still a very beautiful space, but just tonally darker than what we've been used to seeing.”

Along with a dark color palette, the settings feature ominous details including a sofa with a Medusa motif. The team also “lifted the ceilings, narrowed the space, and put big columns up the walls—all with the intention of making the characters feel smaller,” according to the brief.

The Bridgerton Residence

the bridgertons' residence in netflix's bridgerton

The very first home we see in Bridgerton is the wisteria-covered residence of the Bridgerton family, which includes Lady Bridgerton, her four sons (Anthony, Benedict, Colin, and Gregory), and her four daughters (Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, and Hyacinth). It turns out you can visit the site that acts as this home’s exterior: Ranger’s House , an art museum built in 1722 and located in London's Greenwich neighborhood. For the home-turned-museum’s appearance in Bridgerton, wisteria and ivy were added to the exterior to give it a more enchanting appearance. As for the interiors, RAF Halton —one of the UK’s largest Royal Air Force stations—lends backdrops.

a room with a fireplace and chairs

The viscount and viscountess, Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma, live in an apartment that's part of the Bridgerton residence. The new sets were designed to marry each character’s colors: the classic Bridgerton pale blue, creams, and champagnes are mixed with the Sharma color palette of rich sunset colors. (Look closely, and you can spot a portrait of Kate’s dog Newton in their space!)

The Featherington Residence

the featherington residence in bridgerton

Some of the filming locations for Bridgerton were used to depict more than one residence, like the aforementioned RAF Halton that depicts both the Featheringtons’ dining room and the Bridgertons’ home interiors. Another potentially familiar site was also used for interiors of the Featheringtons’ residence: Hatfield House , which can also be seen in The Favourite, Enola Holmes, Rebecca , and the Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker” music video. Another location used to bring the Featheringtons’ home to life was No. 1 Royal Crescent , a museum in Bath, England. The museum's exterior portrays the front door of the home as well as Penelope's window. In season three, viewers are introduced to a new room in the Featherington residence where Penelope and Colin’s wedding breakfast takes place. That interior is part of Claydon House . With bright hues and ornate carvings, it fits right into the Featherington aesthetic.

The Duke of Hastings's Residence

wilton house acts as the duke of hastings' home in bridgerton,

The Duke of Hastings’s lifelong home consists of three filming locations: Wilton House , Syon House , and Badminton House , all of which are country houses that were built hundreds of years ago. If you’re a period drama connoisseur like we are, you’ve probably seen Wilton House in The Crown, Emma, and Pride and Prejudice , to name a few of its other starring roles. Wilton House serves as both the exterior and parts of the interior of the Hastings’ home, while Syon House and Badminton House were solely used for their interiors. (Fun fact: Badminton House is located just 20 minutes from Highgrove House , the residence of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.)

The production team typically shoots at Wilton House two to three times per season as the interiors and exteriors have also been used to represent St. James’s Palace, Buckingham House, the debutant presentation room, and more.

Lady Danbury’s Residence

in bridgerton, the exterior of lady danbury's residence is played by the holburne museum of art

Lady Danbury is like a mother figure to the Duke of Hastings, whose mother died shortly after giving birth to him—and the Lady and Duke’s connection doesn’t end there. It just so happens that two country houses that were used to create the interiors of Duke of Hasting’s residence were also used for the interiors of Lady Danbury’s home: Badminton House and Wilton House . As for the exterior of Lady Danbury’s pad, The Holburne Museum perfectly plays this part.

During season two, the Sharma family stays at Lady Danbury's residence. Those interiors—featuring dusty pinks and sunset hues—were created by the production design team. Learn more about how those sets came to life here .

The Queen’s Residence

an interior shot of the queen’s residence in bridgerton

It only makes sense that any period drama featuring a queen must seek out extraordinary sites to create Her Majesty’s royal abode, and Bridgerton did just that. An actual palace was used for the exterior of Queen Charlotte’s residence, known as Hampton Court Palace , a Grade I listed site that was built in the 1500s for the chief minister of King Henry VIII, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. Both Lancaster House and Wilton House were enlisted to act as the interiors of the Queen’s palace.

The Queen's Buckingham House (now known as Buckingham Palace) is also partly depicted by Blenheim Palace . While this location appears for the first time in Bridgerton during season three, it’s a major filming location in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story . Situated in the town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire, England, the country house has a true connection to Queen Charlotte and King George III as they were friends with the fourth Duke and Duchess of Marlborough who owned it. The location is also the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Visitors can tour the World Heritage site’s staterooms, family apartments, formal gardens, trails, and more.

The Duke and Duchess's Residence

inside the duke and duchess’ home

After Daphne and Simon get married, they live in the fictional Clyvedon Castle, with the exterior being Castle Howard and the interiors being North Mymms Park , Wilton House , and Badminton House . All four of these sites are open to the public, and you can even get married at North Mymms Park—and bring your Bridgerton -inspired dreams to life. Clearly, Wilton House can play a range of roles, given that it portrays four different homes in Bridgerton— and serves as Buckingham Palace on The Crown.

Ballroom Scenes

the final ball scene in season one of bridgerton

The characters of Bridgerton spend plenty of time at home (and we can’t blame them), but they also attend balls quite regularly, in true Regency-era fashion. Hampton Court Palace , Osterley Park and House , Leigh Court , Guildhall , the Bath Assembly Rooms , and Holburne Museum all contribute backdrops to the many ballroom scenes in Bridgerton . We wouldn’t mind having no one to dance with if those interiors were our view for the evening! If you're eager to know more about the ballroom filming locations and sets, we break down every themed ball in season three below.

Bridgerton is finally back, and with the new season of the Regency romance comes new filming locations. "With season three we just wanted to make everything bigger everywhere," the show's location manager Tony Hood said . "More color, bigger costumes, bigger locations… more everything. We wanted it bigger and better!" This is a contrast from season two of Bridgerton , where only one ball was shot on location due to COVID restriction.

In 2022, Bridgerton 's production designer Will Hughes-Jones walked Town & Country through all of the key filming locations. When thinking about production design, Hughes-Jones says, "The main thing is the story. You always come back to the story. What is always omnipresent is what we're trying to put across to the audience—and how we, as a team can highlight that storyline with the sets and the design and the set decoration. So we're constantly looking at it and going, okay, so how can we make this shine?"

Read on for how you can visit nearly every Bridgerton filming location in the United Kingdom, plus behind-the-scenes insight from Hughes-Jones.

Ranger's House

ranger's house, greenwich

You'll recognize it as : The Bridgerton family home in London.

Ranger’s House is a Georgian villa on the boundary of Greenwich Park and Blackheath. It was built in 1723, and has served as a residence of many aristocrats and royals—including Princess Augusta, sister of King George III. Today, Ranger's House is home to the Wernher Collection , an art collection amassed by the 19th century businessman Sir Julius Wernher.

Behind the scenes : The Ranger's House is one of the most difficult locations to transform, because it's an English heritage site .

Wrotham Park

bridgerton l to r jonathan bailey as anthony bridgerton, simone ashley as kate sharma in episode 208 of bridgerton cr liam danielnetflix © 2022

You'll recognize it as : Aubrey Hall, the Bridgerton family home in the country.

Wrotham Park is a 1754 Palladian Mansion, designed by Isaac Ware and set in the heart of a 2,500 acre estate.

Behind the scenes : " In season one, there was a world where we weren't gonna build the Bridgerton house. We scouted it season one, but when we decided to build it, I had it in the back of my head that it should look like Wrotham. So when it came to finding Aubrey Hall, we looked at other places, but we did end up coming back to this because we thought it felt Bridgerton—and it felt Bridgerton because that's what I based the [set] design on in the first season."

Where is it : Hertfordshire

The house is not open to the public and but you can rent the space for a private event.

Hampton Court Palace

world locations

You'll recognize it as : In season three, it serves as the location for the Greek myth ballet at the Queen's Ball in episode four. In season two, it served as the venue for the wedding reception party for Anthony and Edwina; the corridor in Benedict's art academy; the print studio exterior, the Queen's court (when she sits in a tent reading Lady Whistledown).

Queen Charlotte never actually lived at Hampton Court Palace—but numerous royals did. King Henry VIII brought all six of his wives to Hampton Court Palace, and King William III and Queen Mary II were responsible for commissioning the beautiful gardens. Queen Victoria notably opened the palace to the public in 1838.

Behind the scenes: " Trying to shut it down is like trying to shut down Times Square. Because of the weather we have, we didn't have a particularly good floral summer. We were expecting to come there and find the gardens looking absolutely beautiful. But because of COVID, all the gardeners had been furloughed and they'd all been off work. So the gardens were looking really ragtag literally two weeks before [we filmed]. And we had to get our greens team in and basically make the gardens look like they should do."

Where is it: East Molesey (just outside London)

Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club

royal county of berkshire polo club

You'll recognize it as : The site of the royal races that members of the ton attend in season two.

Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club is a polo club near Windsor. British businessman and music exec Bryan Morrison founded the club, and King Charles is counted as a founding member.

Behind the scenes : Transforming the grounds from a modern polo club into a Regency-era race track was a tough one. Underneath "the Queen's tent, the yellow and cream tent, is actually a modern glass building. We actually had a tent made that just fitted over the whole building. It was like putting a sock over a building.

It was probably the hardest [to transform] because of the weather—absolutely filthy weather all the way up to [filming]. There was a point where we thought we weren't gonna be able to do it because the ground was too soft. Literally the day before [shooting], the sun came out and the sun stayed for the whole time we were there."

Where is it : Windsor

You can attend a polo match at the club, but you can't just show up on a random day.

Windsor Great Park

bridgerton l to r jonathan bailey as anthony bridgerton, simone ashley as kate sharma, luke thompson as benedict bridgerton, rupert young as jack in episode 204 of bridgerton cr liam danielnetflix © 2022

You'll recognize it as : In season two, it serves as the site of the hunting scene and the horseback riding scene in the rain after Kate and Anthony spend the night together.

Windsor Great Park is a royal park of around 4,800 acres. It initially was a private hunting ground for Windsor Castle, until it was opened to the public. As the website promises, "When you wander through the Great Park you’ll encounter Royal residences, formal gardens and trees that have stood for over 1,000 years — with each twisting pathway promising a journey through England’s history."

Behind the scenes : "We had a very big rain machine with a huge crane [in the park]. The rearing horse—when Kate rears—is a mechanical horse that we did back of the studio, but all the riding stuff, her jumping over the hedge, that all happened in Windsor Great Park."

The Great Park is free to enter year-round dawn to dusk.

Goldsmiths' Hall

goldsmiths’ hall

You'll recognize it as : In season two, it is the room Edwina retires to after the wedding goes wrong; the room Anthony prepares for the wedding in; and the Queen's throne room.

Goldmiths' Hall has been rebuilt three times over its history. The present hall was designed by Philip Hardwick and opened in 1835, and is home to the Goldsmiths' Company , a livery company (basically a trade organization that evolved from London's medieval guilds).

Syon Park Conservatory

You'll recognize it as : The setting for Lady Danbury's ball in season two of Bridgerton .

Syon House is "the last surviving ducal residence complete with its country estate in Greater London," according to its website. It serves as the London home of the Duke of Northumberland, and was built in the 16th century on the site of the Medieval Syon Abbey. The Great Conservatory, where Bridgerton filmed, was designed by architect Charles Fowler and extensively restored in 1986-1987.

Where is it : Brentford

Old Royal Naval College

old royal naval college

You'll recognize it as : In season two, it is where Eloise and Penelope walk through the market and when young boys hand out the latest dispatch from Lady Whistledown. Plus, the College serves as many London street exteriors in the series.

The Old Royal Naval College sits in the heart of the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site . The site was awarded World Heritage Status in part because the Royal Naval College (along with the Royal Palace and the Royal Park) "demonstrate the power, patronage and influence of the Crown in the 17th and 18th centuries and its illustration through the ability to plan and integrate culture and nature into a harmonious whole."

Behind the scenes : It's an extremely popular filming location because it's been very well-preserved over the years. "The problem with the Royal Naval College is finding time when they haven't got another unit filming! The buildings are Georgian; the ground doesn't have lots of parking meters and lamp posts and all that sort of thing, because it's a private space. They don't have street lighting in the same way."

Holburne Museum of Art

the holburne gallery preview a recently acquired thomas lawrence painting

You'll recognize it as : Lady Danbury's house.

At the heart of the Holburne Museum is the collection of Sir William Holburne (1793-1874), fifth baronet of Menstrie, who had a life-long interest in collecting art. Sir Holburne never married, and lived in Bath with his three unmarried sisters.

Where is it : Bath

Squerryes Court

claudia jessie as eloise bridgerton

You'll recognize it as : The location of the garden party in the first episode of season three, after the debutantes are introduced to Queen Charlotte.

Behind the scenes : Per Squerryes Court, "Squerryes Court is the family home of estate owner, Henry Warde, his wife Claire, their four children and dog, Inca. At the height of the summer holidays, the family were surrounded by the production crew who spent a week transforming the garden into a suitably ostentatious Bridgerton garden party. Parts of the house were used as green rooms for the actors too, so family life was very much under lockdown to keep out of the way of the production team."

Where is it : Kent

Squerryes Court is not open to the general public although it can be booked for private events including weddings.

Osterley Park and House

osterley park, middlesex, uk

You'll recognize it as : The setting for the Full Moon Ball in season three.

Behind the scenes : "It’s a beautiful building, and it worked very well for the ball sequence which had to be spectacular," Hood shared.

Where is it : West London

Claydon House

a man and woman dancing in a room with chairs and tables

You'll recognize it as : The setting for Colin and Penelope's wedding reception in season three.

Behind the scenes : Claydon, per the National Trust , has "splendid eighteenth-century English interiors in an idyllic country setting," making it the perfect backdrop to Bridgerton .

Where is it : Buckinghamshire

Grimsthorpe Castle

a large stone building with a fence around it with grimsthorpe castle in the background

You'll recognize it as : The location of the Innovations Ball in season three.

Behind the scenes : "The last time filming took place was 1995 so we were all so excited to see the castle on the big screen," Lucie Voncarthy from Grimsthorpe Castle told BBC . " We had code names for the show, and we had to just keep the secret ."

Where is it : Lincolnshire

The castle is open select days from April to September.

No. 1 Royal Crescent

You'll recognize it as : The exterior of the Featherington home.

The Royal Crescent is a row of 30 terraced houses laid out in a sweeping crescent. It's totally free to walk around outdoors, or visitors can go inside home no. 1, which has been turned into a museum. There's also a five star hotel, the Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa , located within the landmark.

Wilton House

palladian bridge in the park at wilton house

You'll recognize it as : The interior of Wilton House serves as the location for some of the Queen's apartments—including the room where debutantes are presented. Outside Wilton House, the Palladian Bridge is where the ton promenades.

Wilton House has served as the country seat of the Earls of Pembroke for over 400 years, and the Palladian Bridge was constructed in 1736-1737 over the little River Nadder, just south of Wilton House.

Where is it : Wilton, near Salisbury.

It's open to visitors during the summer.

St James’s Church, Piccadilly

You'll recognize it as : The church where Edwina and Anthony almost get married in season two.

Architect Christopher Wren designed this Anglican Church in 1672, and the Bishop of London, Henry Compton, consecrated the church in July 1684. The church was bombed during World War II, during the Blitz of London, but it has since been restored.

Behind the scenes : "When it came to Anthony's [wedding], we wanted to do something a bit more lavish because the Queen was putting it on. The location team found St James's, and what's amazing is that it has carvings by Grinling Gibbons behind the altar. He was the rockstar of the day—his work is just outta this world."

Where is it : Piccadilly, London

wrest park house

You'll recognize it as : The setting for the famous bee-sting scene between Kate and Anthony in season two, and the Aubrey Hall orangery, where Prudence and Lord Featherington are "caught" (also in season two).

According to English Heritage , " Wrest Park is an exceptional rarity – a magnificent house of the 1830s, set in an outstanding restored garden landscape originating in the 17th century. The house itself is remarkable, a near unique example of 19th-century English architecture following the style of an 18th-century French chateau. Its grounds are a glorious amalgam of three centuries of English garden design, and contain one of the few remaining formal gardens of the early 18th century."

Where is it : Bedfordshire

Ivinghoe Beacon

ivinghoe beacon

You'll recognize it as : Where Kate angstily rides her horse to the cover of "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette .

Ivinghoe Beacon is located at Ashridge Estate . Ashridge is a 5,000 acre estate that describes itself as "an area of outstanding natural beauty" with ancient trees, rolling chalk downlands, and lush meadows.

Behind-the-scenes : "It was a dramatic sky" the day Bridgerton filmed there.

Where is it : Ivinghoe, East Buckinghamshire

Lancaster House

You'll recognize it as : The setting of Queen Charlotte's world: her parlor, music room, drawing room, jewelry room, and bathroom.

Lancaster House, commissioned by the Duke of York and Albany in 1825, is now a British government building. The mansion is in the West End of London, near St James's Palace.

Behind the scenes : Lancaster House is "in the center of London. We always have to film on the weekends, and we always have Friday afternoon to put it together and Sunday night to get rid of it. So we only have a very, very, very short period of time. That, obviously, then dictates how much we can do to the space in that period of time."

Per Visit Britain , "It's rarely open to the public, but does sometimes open its doors at the annual Open City event."

Kingston Bagpuize House

You'll recognize it as : Will and Alice Mondrich's new home in Bridgerton season 3, after their son inherits the title of Baron of Kent.

Behind the scenes : Tony Hood, location manager, explains they chose it for its authenticity of a family home. "You can see that the furnace has been used, the dining table has been used, it has a lived-in quality that felt very much like a home."

A new season of Bridgerton is finally here. The swoon-worthy romance series focuses on the eight fictional siblings of the wealthy and powerful Bridgerton family. The show explores the family’s trials, tribulations, and scandals in a fictional 19th-century London marriage market as they each try to find their perfect love match. The family must also navigate the vicious gossip of the Lady Whistledown papers: a weekly newsletter that circulates salacious information about London’s most powerful family. While the Bridgertons (and the rest of London, for that matter) have no idea who writes under the Lady Whistledown moniker, fans of the show follow closely as the author (voiced by Julie Andrews) balances keeping her identity a secret and maintaining her good standing in London’s high society.

Season three of the hit Netflix show will be released in two parts. The first four episodes drop on May 16, and part two comes out on June 13. Bridgerton fans are anticipating the long-awaited friends-to-lovers romance between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) unfolding on the small screen, among other romances and feuds that are likely to be revealed this season.

When the first season debuted in 2020, Bridgerton immediately won over fans with its dazzling debutante balls set in scenic destinations across the British countryside. If this season’s release has you yearning to amble among English gardens and picture yourself in palaces, we’ve got you covered.

Most of Bridgerton was filmed throughout England. The majority of the show was shot in London, Bath, and Cobham. The following seven real-life filming locations will transport you to the idyllic scenes of the British Regency era of Shonda Rhimes’s hit TV show. From opulent ballrooms to picturesque parks, we’ve got all the tea on how to actually visit the beautiful destinations of Bridgerton.

The Bridgerton family home is the epicenter of the show’s drama. In their idyllic house in Mayfair, the Bridgertons are able to unpack the latest scandals taking over the Ton (the upper echelon of British high society during the Regency era), have tea with potential romantic suitors, and share their private thoughts with one another without the prying eye of Lady Whistledown.

In real life, the Georgian villa that is the backdrop for the home is known as Ranger’s House . It is in London’s Greenwich neighborhood, straddling the boundary between Greenwich Park and Blackheath. The villa was built in 1723 by a naval vice-admiral and features handsome red-brick walls. Unfortunately, that romantic wisteria tree featured on the building in Bridgerton was added just for filming, so you won’t be able to catch it if you visit. But you can take in multiple views of the building by walking around the entire property: Its grounds and interiors are open to the public. While there, you can see the art of the Wernher Collection , which features a collection of medieval sculptures, ornate jewelry, French tapestries, and Renaissance paintings, including Madonna of the Pomegranate from Sandro Botticelli’s workshop.

An essential stop for any Bridgerton fan, this is the house we see most on the show and will likely remain essential until the series ends. You’ll spot this location in scenes like the family’s final send-off in season one for newlyweds Simon Basset (Regé Jean Page), and Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), during which Colin Bridgerton tells Penelope Featherington that he will go on an adventure across the globe.

  • Real-life location: Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, Bath
  • Cost: Hotel room rates start at £370 (US$467)

Penelope Featherington is one of the most important characters in the Bridgerton story, and, without any spoilers, she’s also one of the most complicated. Penelope is known for causing drama and chaos everywhere she brings her sharpened quill.

Several of the most important scenes in the show have happened outside the Featherington home, including the season one introduction of Marina Thompson (Ruby Barker) and the delivery of the first batch of Lady Whistledown papers in season two. And with Penelope as the romantic protagonist of season three, it will surely become an even more important location.

The exterior of the Featherington House is shot at the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa . It’s located in the historic city of Bath, where you can spend a divine night (or several) at the Featherington House. While there, you can take in the beauty of the hotel’s Georgian architecture and promenade around the one-acre garden in your best Bridgerton fancy dress. The garden’s assortment of flora and fauna includes purple lavender plants and three hedgehogs rescued from the nearby Bath Vets .

  • Cost: Park & Gardens passes start at £28 (US$35) for adults

If you’re a fan of all things Bridgerton , you’ve likely seen Blenheim Palace before—the location was used as a stand-in for Buckingham House, the palace that King George III (Cory Mylchreest) and Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) share in the Bridgerton spin-off show Queen Charlotte . The location will return to the Ton in season three.

The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The estate and its sprawling seven-acre grounds contain Sir Winston Churchill’s birth room , a Walled Garden , the massive Marlborough Maze , and a miniature train that tours the palace property.

You can even participate in Blenheim’s “ Lights, Camera, Action! Trail ,” a guided tour of locations used in TV and film sets, including Queen Charlotte, Bridgerton season three, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix , and James Bond: Spectre .

  • Cost: £18.50 (US$23)/adult

If you’re looking to feel like a Diamond of the First Water, like Daphne in season one or Edwina (Charithra Chandran) in season two, look no further than the spot where Queen Charlotte chooses her star of each coming out season: Wilton House . The iconic spot is featured in multiple episodes across the Bridgerton universe, including the season one opening scene of the Queen’s selection of debutantes, where Daphne first makes her appearance.

In this Palladian-style house, you can find the filming locations for many of the rooms in Queen Charlotte’s Buckingham house, various interior shots of the Duke of Hasting’s Clyvedon Castle, and the chambers in Lady Danbury’s home.

The estate belongs to the Earl and Countess of Pembroke, who have opened their property to public visits. The property sits over approximately 21 acres of landscaped parkland, so prepare accordingly.

  • Real-life location: Squerryes Court, Sevenoaks
  • Hours: May–October, Squerryes Court has tours on Thursdays beginning at 4:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; and Sundays beginning at 11 a.m.
  • Cost: £32 (US$40)/adult

Squerryes Court in Sevenoaks in southern England is home to the garden party that takes place in the first episode of season three. If you’re interested in taking a tour of the site where gossip turns the Ton upside-down, this is the place to visit.

At Squerryes Court, you can tour the historic property and get a feel for the splendor (and scandal) of 18th-century England. If you want to scale up on the Bridgerton -inspired opulence, you can do a winetasting at the estate’s 36-acre vineyard. The sparkling wine is among the best in the world—in 2020, Squerryes Court took home gold in the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championship.

6. Primrose Hill

  • Real-life location : Painshill Park, Cobham
  • Hours: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily
  • Cost: £11.50 (US$15)/adult

Long-time Bridgerton fans will recognize this park from multiple scenes. Daphne and Simon promenade here for the entire Ton to watch while fake-dating in season one. And their infamous conversation on the stone bridge takes place on Painshill Park’s Five Arch Bridge. This was also the site of the Featherington family picnic in season one.

In an interview with Country & Town House , Tony Hood, locations manager for Bridgerton season three, said that the park will appear again during season three, when a new character to the Ton, Lord Hawkins, makes a disastrous attempt to take flight in a hot air balloon.

Visitors to the park can tour the sprawling park grounds; travel back in time at the park’s famous Crystal Grotto, a cave with an intricate collection of stalactites and coral pools; and play pretend at the property’s small gazebo-like terrace known as the Gothic Temple, which has some of the best views of the park.

7. Season 3’s Massive Outdoor Ball

  • Real-life location: Osterley Park & House, Hounslow
  • Hours: House: 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; Gardens: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily
  • Cost: £15 (US$19)/adult for house and garden entry

The biggest ball of season three was filmed at Osterley Park & House in the London borough of Hounslow. The outdoor garden is massive, with a beautiful quadrangle in the middle of the grounds, so the Bridgerton cast and crew had a lot to work with for the ball. Hood said that sparks (and drama) are set to fly for Colin and Penelope here.

While at Osterley Park & House, you must visit its six-acre garden, featuring an array of roses, herb borders, and ornamental vegetation. You can also tour the Osterley house, known as the “Palace of all Palaces,” according to the National Trust. There, you will be able to find the house’s spectacular interior by 18th-century Scottish architect and designer Robert Adam, one of the most complete designs by Adam in existence. Since the scene filmed here was shot in the late afternoon, visit the grounds right before closing to get the authentic Bridgerton experience.

B ridgerton season 3 is fast approaching, and it’s anticipated to offer the most eye candy yet. Like all world-building for the big screen, recreating the Bridgerton universe based on Julia Quinn’s novels is no small feat. This whimsical drama, which returns to our screens May 16, is set in the competitive world of Regency London. Cue the decadent empire-waist dresses, steamy sex scenes , and glamorous soirees—none of which would retain its powerful allure without its extravagant backdrops at some of the most stately edifices. Think Georgian villas that date back to the 1700s, exquisite pillared mansions, gilded state rooms, and sprawling parklands that are beyond befitting to the riveting theatrics of this almost cultish time-piece television series.

To the unwitting viewer, it’s difficult to imagine the effort required behind the camera to orchestrate the magnificent scenes that transition seamlessly from one to another. “Access is the hardest part,” says Bridgerton ’s production designer Will Hughes-Jones, the mastermind behind the series’ lavish scenes, who shared a peek into his process with ELLE DECOR. “Generally the locations are public spaces or places that the owners open to the public. Hence we only have a very short period of time to do what we need to do before that fourth wall is broken by some unsuspecting tourist.”

In season 3, Penelope isn’t the only one getting a glow-up. While the Bridgerton crew was faced with Covid restrictions when filming season 2, shooting only one ball scene on location and the rest in their studio space, season 3 is bound to be a treat for the eyes—especially with the addition of a new production designer, Alison Gartshore. Gartshore says she didn’t feel she had to reinvent the wheel but looked forward to building on the groundwork of the first two seasons. “It was about keeping Will Hugh-Jones and Gina Cromwell’s vision well and truly alive, and just thinking about where we might be able to enhance that a little bit and push the boundaries,” she said in a statement. “One of those areas was the balls. I felt that we could be a bit more theatrical with the balls.” It’s also sure to spark a renewed interest in some of England’s most stunning historical properties—many of which are open to the public.

Ready to live out your Regencycore moment? Get ahead of the crowds at some of Bridgerton’s most stunning filming locations in the United Kingdom, from Bristol’s stately mansions to Hertfordshire’s manicured estates. Here is our guide to 20 locations from Bridgerton scenes that you can visit on your next jaunt across the pond—plus a behind-the-scenes look from Hughes-Jones.

Blenheim Palace

a large building surrounded by trees

Location: Oxfordshire, England

Features as: Queen Charlotte’s residence

Blenheim Palace is the only country house in England that does not belong to the church but still holds the title of palace. It was completed in 1722, a commission by Queen Anne as a gift to John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough, following his victory at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. Designed by the esteemed architect Sir John Vanbrugh, Blenheim Palace is one of England’s largest houses, a showcase of Baroque architecture with opulent interiors, sprawling landscaped gardens, and a vast parkland estate. It would eventually serve as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, the renowned British prime minister, further adding to its allure as a symbol of national pride. Blenheim Palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. Today, it welcomes visitors from around the world to marvel at its beauty and immerse themselves in its fascinating history.

The extravagantly baroque 18th-century estate previously appeared in the Bridgerton spin-off, Queen Charlotte, as Buckingham House (later Buckingham Palace) and plays the same part in season 3. It was also featured in Harry Potter, Indiana Jones , James Bond, and Mission Impossible movies.

Basildon House

a large building with columns

Location: Berkshire, England

Features as: Lady Tilley Arnold’s residence

Basildon Park is a majestic Palladian country house that dates back to 1771. Francis Sykes, who made his fortune in the East India Company, employed architect John Carr to build the Bath-stone mansion in a style that was heavily influenced by the Classical Revival style and the designs of Italian architect Andrea Palladio. The Sykes family owned the house until 1838 when it went into the hands of the Morrison family. In the years following, the mansion had been badly damaged during World War I, when it was used as a 50-bed convalescent home for officers and soldiers of the Berkshire regiments. The house and estate were used as a place for soldiers to recuperate and learn new skills, including basket- and brickmaking. During the Second World War, the estate was requisitioned, serving as a backdrop for D-Day training, and later as a prisoner of war camp for German and Italian soldiers. By that point, the house was significantly damaged. Lord and Lady Iliffe purchased it in 1952 and restored it to its former glory, with the addition of modern-day comforts such as central heating, kitchen appliances, and contemporary bathrooms. In 1978, they gifted the house and its 400-acre parkland to the National Trust, for all to enjoy.

a person in a suit standing in a room

The house’s famed gardens previously appeared as the venue for the grand Featherington ball in season 2. However, in season 3 we get a peek inside the historic Palladian mansion, which sets the scene for a new character: Lady Tilley Arnold. Each room is filled with authentic neoclassical furniture and decor befitting the firebrand widow who enjoys the privileges and power that come with being at the helm of her former husband’s estate, living life on her own terms with financial independence, and enjoying sexual freedom. If the house looks familiar, you may have seen it in the 2005 film Pride & Prejudice and, more recently, the 2016 film Pride and Prejudice and Zombies . It also featured in the 2006 movie Marie-Antoinette and as Lord and Lady Radley's house in the 2009 film Dorian Gray.

Grimsthorpe Castle

Location: Lincolnshire, England

Features as: Lord Hawkins’s residence

Grimsthorpe Castle is a country house located within a 3,000-acre park of rolling pastures and woodland in Lincolnshire, England. The building was originally a small castle on the crest of a ridge on the road, said to have been begun by Gilbert de Gant, Earl of Lincoln in the early 13th century. In 1715, Robert Bertie, Baron Willoughby de Eresby commissioned architect Sir John Vanbrugh (who also designed Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard) to add on to the structure, in celebration of the family’s ascension to Dukes of Ancaster and Kesteven. Vanbrugh gave it a stately Baroque front. Inside, Grimsthorpe Castle features stone arcades all around at two levels. Fun fact: It contains the throne used by George IV at his coronation banquet and a Regency giltwood throne and footstool used by Queen Victoria in the original House of Lords. The towering building has been the home of the de Eresby family since 1516, presently occupied by Jane Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby, 28th Baroness Willoughby de Eresby.

In the Bridgerton world, Grimsthorpe Castle features in season 3 as the home of Lord Hawkins. A new character in the series, Lord Hawkins is portrayed as an eccentric man who is absorbed in the world of inventions. The stately manse is a fitting backdrop for this (then) forward-thinking man and sets the stage for one of many grand ball scenes in the season.

Kingston Bagpuize House

mansion

Features as: The Mondrich residence

Kingston Bagpuize House dates back to the 11th century during the time of William the Conqueror. The lovely manor, with its Queen Anne exterior, cantilevered staircase, and monolithic gardens, has seen countless renditions of remodels—but has always retained its core structure. It has always been a family house, first inhabited by the De Bachepuis family and passed on to families throughout the centuries until it came into the hands of Lady Grant & Tweedsmuir, who still live there today. It’s rumored that the children of the house used to hide under the four-poster beds when tour groups visited, making ghostly noises to frighten the guests. The interior features a cantilevered staircase, and visitors can view the drawing room, bedrooms, sitting room, a paneled library—and a tea shop.

The house’s exterior and interior appears in season 3 of Bridgerton as Alice and William Mondrich’s family home. In the second episode, the family can be seen pulling up to the grand estate with servants lining the entrance. Inside, the family is told by the housekeeper that there is a library, music room, private drawing room, writing room, and a study. In total, she adds that there are 27 rooms, including the servant’s quarters. If this space looks familiar, you might have seen it in Emma and Downton Abbey.

Osterley Park and House

a horse carriage in front of a building with people standing around

Location: West London, England

Features as: Ball scene in episode 2

Osterley Park and House is a stately country estate in west London that dates back to the 1570s. The original building was a Tudor house built for banker Sir Thomas Gresham—a dignitary who, on at least one occasion, hosted Queen Elizabeth I. The house was acquired by banker Sir Francis Child in 1713. Sir Francis and his sons were major investors in the new stock markets at the height of what became known as the “financial revolution” of the late 17th century. It brought the Child family huge success, allowing them to collect works of art from around the world and bring on young Scottish architect Robert Adam in 1761 to remodel the house. Adam turned the redbrick building into a fashionable party house fit for entertaining banking clients, friends, and family. The redbrick house features white stone details and distinguishing turrets in the four corners, an unusual homage to its early Tudor beginnings. Inside, Adam’s neoclassical interiors were characterized by elaborate plasterwork and rich color schemes.

In Bridgerton season 3, viewers will recognize the house’s grand entrance as the opening scene for the series’ Full Moon Ball—which plays out in the middle of the second episode (seen in the above photo). For the scene, the Georgian mansion was decked out in purple drapes and stone urns, billowing with flower sprays. “We chose a location where the ballroom reflected the colors of the full moon, so it was very pale gray, silvery gray, and white,” Gartshore explains. “All of our floral displays were phases of the moon. All of our dressing was pale, silvery, pearly colors.” The full moon was reflected in the water of a fountain, and even the food on the tables was all themed as stars and moons in the same pallet. “Once you put the costumed people in there, of course, it all sparkles and looks rather beautiful.” If it’s not yet the setting for Colin to profess his undying love to Penelope, it’s certainly a most romantic mise en scène to prompt the beginnings of such heart flutterings.

Ranger’s House

bridgerton

Location: Greenwich, London

Features as: The Bridgerton family home in London

This wisteria-lined Palladian-style mansion in South London plays a starring role in Bridgerton , serving as the iconic facade of the Bridgerton family residence. The Bridgertons' home is key in establishing the status of the titular family and the way they live. While Ranger’s House is portrayed in Bridgerton as a cosmopolitan London home, the Georgian villa was built away from the bustle of the city on the edge of Greenwich Park. Built in 1723, it served as a residence for many aristocrats and royals, including Princess Augusta, sister of King George III. Today, Ranger's House is home to the Wernher Collection, an art collection amassed by the 19th century diamond magnate Sir Julius Wernher.

Ranger’s House was originally pitched as the Featherington House, according to English Heritage , and another property for the Bridgertons. However the locations were ultimately swapped, Bridgerton location manager Paul Tomlinson told English Heritage. For the first season, filming outside Ranger’s House took place across three separate occasions during a four-month period, transforming the exterior three separate times. This entailed adding custom-made wisteria to the front of the property, which hung from a temporary frame; a new paint job on the front door along with a new knocker and knob; gravel on the walkway; and planters and window boxes at the front of the house. In the garden, cherry blossom trees, ivy, and wild roses were added to the gates and railings for added botanical romance.

Halton House

bridgerton filming location

Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

Features as: The interior of the Bridgertons’ home—mainly, the foyer.

While the exterior of the Bridgerton house was shot in London, the interior scenes featuring the grand hall, stairs, hallway, and smoking room were filmed at Halton House, a French-style country house in the Chiltern Hills above the village of Halton. The manse was built for Alfred de Rothschild between 1880 and 1883, in the family's signature French-inspired style, and sold to the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1918. The house is currently used as the main officers’ mess for RAF Halton, one of the largest air force stations in the United Kingdom.

Halton House is where that uncomfortably scant Bridgerton ball takes place toward the end of season 2 (seen in the above photo). A room in Halton House, Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) dressing room, was also repurposed in season 2 as the Sharmas’ accommodation at Aubrey Hall, as well as Anthony’s room there, Hughes-Jones tells ELLE DECOR . It was also used to film some of the Featherington interiors and Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings’s wedding reception. But of course, this isn’t this charming mansion’s first debut on screen. It was also featured in The Queen , The King’s Speech , Cruella , Downton Abbey , and The Crown .

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to visit this location IRL. According to the RAF’s website , “Halton House Officer’s Mess is home to many serving personnel based at RAF Halton. Therefore, it is not appropriate for people to visit their home. However, there are usually open days planned throughout the year where people can be guided around the impressive building. These will be advertised on the RAF Halton website.”

Holburne Museum of Art

bridgerton filming location

Location: Bath, Somerset

Features as: Lady Danbury’s estate

The Holburne Museum in Bath is a central Bridgerton setting in both seasons as the home of Lady Danbury, featured more prominently in the season 2 as it’s the place where the Sharma family resides, thanks to the generosity of Lady Danbury. The breathtaking Palladian-style home, though appearing in the show like it sits on the outskirts of upper class London, is actually in the heart of Bath’s city center. The Grade I–listed building, formally known as Sydney Gardens, houses over 10,000 objects and is now the city’s first public art gallery.

holburne museum art gallery, bath, somerset, england, uk c 1796

In the series, the interiors in the show feature a striking dusty pink wall color. That was built on set, Hughes-Jones, told House Beautiful . As for why pink was the hue of choice, “The home needed to be easily identifiable amongst the other sets and locations, and it also had to fit with the look of Lady Danbury [whose home is where the Sharma family resides] and complement the costumes.” The museum has been seen in The Duchess with Keira Knightley, and the Vanity Fair adaptation starring Reese Witherspoon.

St. James’s Church

bridgerton

Location: Piccadilly, London

Features as: Where Edwina and Anthony are almost married

This Anglican church, which acts as the floral-filled scene where Anthony (spoiler alert) almost marries Edwina, was designed by England’s most historically-significant architect Christopher Wren in 1672, and consecrated by Henry Compton, Bishop of London, in 1684. In 1940, the church was severely damaged during the London Blitz. It has since been restored. One special feature of the church is its carvings behind the altar, created by Grinling Gibbons, whose work also adorns Kensington Palace today.

Filming Bridgerton at the church was a massive undertaking, according to British Anglican priest Lucy Winkett who has been the Rector of the church since 2010. “The requirement for cranes and lights outside the church meant that the whole site would be given over to the project, Winkett writes on the church’s blog . “Our own parameters were that our Monday night meal for people going through homelessness had to continue, and worship on Sundays had to go ahead, but in between, for a few days, we became a full-blown film set.”

She went on to describe the transformation, which was quite lavish as the nuptials were fictitiously hosted by Queen Charlotte. “Sets were painted in the garden under small marquees, cranes were brought into the courtyard, huge drapes were hung in the church itself, transforming St James’s into ‘Buckingham Chapel,’” Winkett writes. “What stays with me is the sheer number of people involved, and the impressive professionalism of the crew.”

No. 1 Royal Crescent

sunny curved building, bath, somerset, uk

Features as: The exterior for the Featherington home

In Bath, the Royal Crescent is a row of 30 honey-hued Georgian houses aligned in a sweeping crescent. In the Bridgerton world, this is London’s Grosvenor Square, with home no. 1 being the exterior of the Featherington home. In reality, home number one is a museum that is open to the public, alongside a five-star hotel, the Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa, located within the landmark.

While Bath makes an excellent film location as the city has conserved much of its historical appearance and architectural integrity (it’s even a UNESCO World Heritage site), Hughes-Jones tells us it was the most challenging set to work on. “In season 1 no one knew who we were, and to be honest they were not interested,” he explains. “We were just an annoyance and a hassle, so it was very difficult to get anything done. When it came to season 2 we actually avoided going to Bath as much as possible by building a lot of it in a studio, as it was cheaper and less hassle.”

Wilton House

bridgerton filming location

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire

Features as: The queen’s throne room and apartments. Outside, Jonathan Bailey promenades in front of the Palladian Bridge as Anthony Bridgerton.

Wilton House, three miles west of Salisbury, is as much a star in the show as any character, with its opulent interiors functioning as multiple settings in both seasons, most memorably as the fictitious Clyvedon Castle, the Duke of Hasting’s home. The magnificent countryside estate has served as the country seat of the Earls of Pembroke for over 400 years, and is still very much a family home that is open to the public. It features a world famous art collection and sculpture gallery, in addition to lavish 17th-century interiors.

In Bridgerton , the building is featured in scenes in Queen Charlotte’s bedroom, parlor, and garden, as well as the well-known scene in which the debutantes are presented in the Queen’s throne room. Meanwhile, the drawing room and grand hall stood in for chambers in the residence of Lady Danbury, and the grounds were shot as a stand-in for London’s Hyde Park. “The aim was to make it feel like an interior of St. James Palace,” Hughes-Jones explains. “The geography of the room was very important, along with a lot of light. Wilton house fitted the bill perfectly.”

Lancaster House

bridgerton filming location

Location: London

Features as: Queen Charlotte’s world: her parlor, music room, drawing room, jewelry room, and bathroom.

Located in the West End of London, just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, Lancaster House was commissioned by the Duke of York and Albany, a son of King George III, in 1825. It fell into the hands of the Duke of Stafford, before being overtaken by Sir William Lever, 1st Baronet, a soap maker who renamed the house in honor of his home county. Just a year after purchasing the house, he donated it to the United Kingdom. It is now a British government building used for important government events (the G7 Summit was held there twice), as well as the London Museum and the Government wine cellar (yes, that’s a thing).

In Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte and Edwina have a rare heart-to-heart in the royal jewel room, following an unexpected appearance from an ailing King George III (played by James Fleet). Other interior shots of the 19th-century mansion include Queen Charlotte’s parlor, hallway, and bathroom. The historic building also appeared in The Crown as a substitute for Buckingham Palace.

But, like Halton House, a visit here is tricky. Per Visit Britain , “It’s rarely open to the public, but does sometimes open its doors at the annual Open City event.”

Wrotham Park

bridgerton filming location

Location: Barnet, Hertfordshire

Features as: Aubrey Hall

Set in the heart of a 2,500-acre estate in Hertfordshire, Wrotham Park was one of the most prominent locations in season 2 of Bridgerton , serving as the main estate for Aubrey Hall, the Bridgertons’ country home and ancestral seat. Designed by Isaac Ware, the 1754 Palladian mansion saw several owners, one of which (Admiral John Byng) was a source of inspiration for Voltaire’s satire Candide. Byng’s descendants still own the property.

As for its appearance in Bridgerton , Hughes-Jones says the crew pushed the space towards a more “homely, country feel.” “There are a lot more tapestries, more wild flowers rather than the roses that we use in the town home,” he tells ELLE DECOR. “For the pall-mall scene [a 16th-century precursor to croquet], one of our team members went to the Museum of London to research the game, and the actual rules are pretty vague. So we decided that the Bridgertons play their own version of it.”

Windsor Great Park

bridgerton filming location

Location: Windsor, Berkshire

Features as: The hunting scene; the horseback riding scene in the rain after Kate and Anthony spend the night together, and when Kate falls off her horse.

The backdrop for many of Anthony and Kate’s most romantic moments in season 2 (yes, that includes the horseback meet-cute between the viscount and Miss Sharma), Windsor Great Park is a royal park of around 4,800 acres that includes grasslands, lakes, gardens, and forests with trees that have stood for over 1,000 years (a romantic stage for the couple’s charged pall-mall retrieval, as well as the dramatic scene where Kate falls off her horse). Initially a private hunting ground for Windsor Castle, the estate was opened to the public. Perhaps your own meet-cute moment is waiting to be had among these sprawling woodlands?

As for those heavenly light beams captured in the hunting scenes in this sweeping parkland, Hughes-Jones tells ELLE DECOR “we were just very lucky.” “The director of photography did use some pretty big lights to get the shafts, but with the help of special effects and the fact that at the time of filming we had had a prolonged dry spell and it was very hot. The weather Gods were shining down on us that week as far as certain hours goes.”

Hampton Court Palace

Location: East Moseley, London

Features as: Queen Charlotte’s St. James’s Palace; the wedding reception party for Anthony and Edwina; the corridor in Benedict’s art academy; the print studio exterior; the queen’s court.

The former home of Henry VIII, the original Tudor Hampton Court Palace was a royalty-approved choice for producers looking for a multipurpose setting. In fact, like Wilton House, this historic palace is the workhorse of stages throughout season 2. It is the place where Eloise meets her new love interest, Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch), as well as the Chancery Lane Printing Press exterior. It also sets the stage for the corridor in Benedict’s art academy, the wedding reception party for Anthony and Edwina, and the gardens of both Buckingham House and Danbury House. There’s additionally a scene here where the Queen is sitting in a tent reading Lady Whistledown (which is just begging for an Insta-worthy photo recreation).

The 500-year-old pleasure palace is rich with history: This was the palace that King Henry VIII brought all six of his wives to. King William III and Queen Mary II then stepped up to the throne, commissioning Sir Christopher Wren to build an elegant new baroque palace. Queen Victoria notably opened the palace to the public in 1838, which it remains to this day. “Trying to shut it down is like trying to shut down Times Square,” Hughes-Jones told Town and Country . “Because of the weather we have, we didn’t have a particularly good floral summer. We were expecting to come there and find the gardens looking absolutely beautiful. But because of Covid, all the gardeners had been furloughed and they’d all been off work. So the gardens were looking really ragtag literally two weeks before [we filmed]. And we had to get our greens team in and basically make the gardens look like they should do.”

Castle Howard

bridgerton filming location

Location: York, North Yorkshire

Features as: Clyvedon Castle, the Duke of Hastings’s house

Castle Howard, which is featured in season 1 as the fictional Clyvedon Castle, took over 100 years to build. Work began on the castle’s symmetrical wings and crowning dome in 1699 and after the lifetimes of three Earls, it was finally completed in 1811. Today, this stately Baroque home in the heart of Yorkshire—most famous for being used in both versions of Brideshead Revisited —is a treasure trove of inspiring architecture, fanciful stories, and lush gardens.

On the screen, it is within the stately home’s famous honey-hued stone that we see Simon (Regé-Jean Page) and Daphne settle into married life after their wedding. A variety of rooms were featured in episode 6 of season 1, including the Turquoise Room, Antique Passage, Long Gallery, and Garden Room, which features as the marital bedroom where the Duke and Duchess spend most of their time and where Daphne learns why the Duke refuses to have children. Drama, drama, in the royal bedchamber!

Ivinghoe Beacon

ivinghoe beacon

Location: Ivinghoe, East Buckinghamshire

Features as: Field and landscape shots when the Bridgertons are roaming beyond their second home, Aubrey Hall.

Ivinghoe Beacon is located at Ashridge Estate, a sprawling 5,000-acre property in Buckinghamshire that serves as one of the many fields and landscapes we see when the Bridgerton family is at their ancestral home, Aubrey Hall. Our favorite cameo of Ivinghoe Beacon is the scene when Kate angstily rides her horse to the cover of “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette. All the angsty Regency feels.

Fun fact: Ivinghoe Beacon is on the Ridgeway National Trail, an 87-mile trail following Britain’s oldest road. While this tail can take up to a week to complete on foot, it’s worth seeing a small section of it at Ivinghoe for the more casually inclined. This estate is open and free to the public, requiring only a small fee if you wish to climb to the top of the Bridgewater Monument.

The Reform Club

bridgerton filming location

Features as: The gentlemen’s club where Anthony Bridgerton and Simon Basset meet

A London building constructed in 1836 as an unofficial base for the Liberal Party, the Reform Club is a “reminder of the country’s advance towards democracy in the nineteenth century,” according to the club’s website . Beyond its fascinating role in political history, the building is of architectural importance in its own right. The designer of the building was Sir Charles Barry, best known for rebuilding the Palace of Westminster after the fire of 1834. Barry was one of several designers who entered their plans in order to win the building commission. Budgetary constraints meant Barry’s design had to incorporate decorative finishes that mimicked more expensive materials. The Reform’s flamboyant Roman High Renaissance interior was less marble and more plaster but nonetheless luxurious. And in fact, despite these trompe l'oeil substitutes, the clubhouse was ultimately one of the most expensive of its type. Today, the Reform Club continues to host a lively social community (that is, now, politically neutral), hosting over 100 events a year and functioning as a full-service hotel and restaurant.

The Reform Club was used as a filming location for the gentlemen’s club of which Simon Basset (aka the Duke of Hastings) and Anthony Bridgerton are members and meet in season 1. The location has been used in many films, including the James Bond film Die Another Day and Quantum of Solace .

bridgerton filming location

Location: Buckingham, Buckinghamshire

Features as: Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens

Little surprise that Stowe Park in Buckinghamshire made an appearance in the series, as a backdrop to the lavish outdoor ball scene in which the relationship between Daphne and the Duke of Hastings shifts. But of course, whose face wouldn’t look a bit more riveting against the Eden-like, glittering gardens of Stowe Park (in the show, Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens).

The scenes at Vauxhall Gardens were filmed in front of the Temple of Venus at Stowe Park, Hughes-Jones explains, adding that it was the ideal place for that dramatically romantic encounter. “Stowe Park and its Georgian gardens were created by Viscount Cobham in the early 1700s,” he adds. “In 1845, it was visited by Queen Victoria, who was reported to be jealous of the property.” If it’s good enough for Victoria, it’s good enough for the Bridgertons.

Painshill Park

bridgerton filming location

Location: Cobham, Surrey

Features as: Primrose Hill

Another exquisite park that features in the series is Painshill Park, an 18th-century landscaped park in Surrey. The park is influenced by the European travels of its founder the Honorable Charles Hamilton, the son of the sixth Earl of Abercorn. In Bridgerton, the park is meant to represent a park in London where all of the ton spend their afternoons promenading, boating, picnicking, and of course, gossiping. Prominent architectural elements in the park that appear in the series include the Five Arch Bridge, the stone bridge Simon and Daphne stop to speak on, and the intricate Chinese Bridge. Could you imagine a more fitting place for Simon and Daphne to try to be seen together?

Where Is Bridgerton Filmed? All About the Real-Life Locations From Season 1 to Season 3

Fans can visit where Anthony and Kate shared their first kiss or Daphne threw a knock-out punch

Lady Whistledown has a hit on her hands: The love of Netflix’s period drama series Bridgerton is only growing stronger.

The release of season 3 — which spotlights the whimsical love story of Penelope Featherington ( Nicola Coughlan ) and Colin Bridgerton ( Luke Newton ) — marked the show’s best weekend opening with over 45 million views worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

While the Regency-era costumes and passionate love scenes contribute to the success of Shonda Rhimes ' created series, the lavish wisteria-filled sets of the Bridgerton universe are undoubtedly a major part of the show’s romantic mystique as well.

To bring the magical world of Julia Quinn’s books to life, Bridgerton ’s production crew filmed all across the United Kingdom — from real Tudor-era mansions and courtyards in the countryside to iconic museums and historic churches in the heart of London.

So where is Bridgerton filmed? Here's everything to know about the show's filming locations and how to visit.

Royal Crescent

Location: Bath, England

Despite the show being about London’s high society, the production team used the row of terrace houses composing the famed Royal Crescent to depict the exterior of the Featherington household.

The 500-foot-long stretch of 18th-century Georgian homes can be found in Bath — about a three-hour drive from London’s city center.

Visitors can admire one of Bath’s most iconic landmarks while enjoying the area's neighboring Royal Victoria Park or The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa. There is also a museum for guests to tour one of the homes and learn more about the Royal Crescent’s architecture and history.

Hatfield House

Location: Hertfordshire, England

While the exterior of the Featheringtons’ home is in Bath, the interior has been frequently shot three hours away in a heritage property called Hatfield House in the county of Hertfordshire.

It’s also been reported that Hatfield, a 17th-century Jacobean property once home to the first Earl of Salisbury, was used for various scenes of the inside of the Bridgerton estate in season 2. Movie fans may also recognize the property for appearing in films like Sleepy Hollow (1999), V for Vendetta (2005), The King’s Speech (2010) and The Favourite (2018).

The grounds are now open to visitors, who can explore the estate’s garden, stable yard, nearby nature paths and accompanying restaurant.

Lancaster House

Location: London, England

Bridgerton fans remember seeing the luxe interior of Lancaster House — a property near Buckingham Palace commissioned in 1825 by the then Duke of York and later becoming the home of the first Duke of Sutherland — featured prominently in season 2 scenes between Edwina Sharma ( Charithra Chandran ) and Queen Charlotte ( Golda Rosheuvel ) in Her Majesty’s residence.

The building now belongs to the British government and is used for various events. Lancaster House has also appeared in The King’s Speech , The Crown (2016-2023), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) and more.

Reform Club

Within walking distance of Buckingham Palace is the Reform Club , one of the most prestigious members-only social clubs in London — but more commonly known to viewers as the place where Anthony Bridgerton ( Jonathan Bailey ) and the Duke of Hastings ( Regé Jean-Page ) had a memorable heart-to-heart in season 1.

The Club was founded in 1836 as a political center for the Whigs and Radicals and later became a nonpolitical meeting place boasting Italian Renaissance architecture and a robust art collection. The Reform Club is not usually open to visitors, except for organized groups during the week, but will occasionally grant access to the public.

St. James Church

It’s impossible to forget the dramatic wedding scene between Anthony and Edwina that resulted in family tension and the steamy kiss Lord Bridgerton shared with his eventual bride, Kate Sharma ( Simone Ashley ).

The climatic sequence took place in St. James Church in Piccadilly, built by Sir Christopher Wren and consecrated in 1684. Today, the Church of England congregation describes the St. James community as a “welcoming and inclusive” place for worship, where visitors may join in prayer or get involved in various services and programs around the arts, social justice and spiritual life.

The Holburne Museum

One look at The Holburne Museum and it's easy to see that Lady Danbury ( Adjoa Andoh )’s digs are unmatched.

The iconic museum attracts many thanks to its various exhibits and extensive art collection of roughly 9,000 objects belonging to Sir William Holbourne, the fifth baronet of Menstrie. Visitors can stop by every day except Sunday to observe paintings and sculptures, plus attend events.

The Abbey Deli

Viewers who have pictured themselves trying on lavish ball gowns in Madame Delacroix ( Kathryn Drysdale )’s Modiste shop can make part of that fantasy come true when visiting The Abbey Deli .

The eatery, which served as the backdrop of the dress shop, is located a few steps away from the Bath Abbey church. The business proudly boasts its role in the hit Netflix series, even adding a Modiste afternoon tea experience to its menu for guests.

Castle Howard

Location: York, England

Castle Howard , an estate that took over 100 years to complete, served numerous filming purposes in season 1 of Bridgerton .

Most memorably, Daphne Bridgerton ( Phoebe Dynevor ) knocked out Nigel Berbrooke (Jamie Beamish) with a punch in the Walled Garden area of the 18th-century castle grounds in one scene.

In another, Daphne and the Duke enjoyed intimate moments in Castle Howard’s Archbishop’s bedroom, where real guests are hosted today.

The castle grounds are also home to monuments, statues and temples, including The Temple of the Four Winds, where the Duke and Duchess take shelter when a heavy downpour disrupts their evening walk.

Hampton Court Palace

In season 3 episode 4, Hampton Court Palace shines front and center as the venue for Queen Charlotte’s ball. The Privy Garden on the grounds is also a focal point in season 2 outdoor moments between the Sharma sisters.

Finally, the Master Carpenter’s Court area has been used as the printing shop where Lady Whistledown’s pamphlets are created.

The historical home was home to Henry VIII before becoming the palace of William III and Mary II. Visitors are welcome to walk through these areas of the Tudor home and attend public summer concerts in the grand courtyard.

Ranger’s House

Fans who fantasize about living at the Bridgerton household will want to take a picture in front of Ranger’s House, where many of the exterior home shots of the family estate have been captured.

Ranger’s House guests can admire the red-brick Georgian home featured in several scenes and venture inside to see 19th-century businessman Sir Julius Wernher’s vast art collection, consisting of over 700 works of Renaissance art, medieval sculptures and jewelry pieces.

Kingston Bagpuize House

Location: Oxfordshire, England

Remember how shocked Will (Martin Imhangbe) and Alice Mondrich ( Emma Naomi ) were when they stepped out of their carriage in season 3 to see the home they would be living in after their son Nicky (James Bryan) unexpectedly inherited the Baron of Ken title?

Fans may have the same reaction when they visit Kingston Bagpuize House , where the fictional family’s life changed forever.

Apart from the exterior, viewers will particularly remember seeing glimpses of the Entrance Hall, Drawing Room and Pink Bedroom if they venture inside the manor.

The Kingston Bagpuize House — with a history that dates back to the 11th century — and accompanying garden are open to the public on select Sundays and Mondays throughout the year.

Wilton House

Location: Wiltshire, England

Debutantes can be declared the season’s diamond or cast aside in the halls of Wilton House , which has served in the series as Queen Charlotte’s presentation room, among other things.

According to House Beautiful , the 16th-century home, which is owned today by the 18th Earl and Countess of Pembroke and built on land granted by Henry VIII, is also where various bedroom, parlor and garden party scenes with Her Majesty have been captured.

The outlet also reports that the residence's interior was used to depict Lady Danbury’s library. Those hoping to visit can purchase tickets upon arrival before exploring different parts of the house and grounds.

Windsor Great Park

Location: Berkshire, England

The love between Anthony and Kate began with a thrilling chase on horses through a lush forest in Windsor Great Park .

The woodland area — which is part of the greater Windsor Estate and leads straight to Windsor Castle — also features golf courses, farms and the famed Ascot Racecourse.

Visitors who go to the 4,800-acre park (which is free to access) aren’t merely seeing a film set — they will be experiencing a historical, royal site that dates back thousands of years.

Grimsthorpe Castle

Location: Lincolnshire, England

A new member of the Ton, inventor Lord Hawkins (Deepak Verma) hosted an extravagant ball in season 3 in the real-life Grimsthorpe Castle at Vanbrugh Hall.

To create the grandeur of the space, a fake floor was installed in the hall to protect the original stone flooring. When the space is not used to film ballroom scenes, the Grimsthorpe castle, with parts that date back to the 12th century, is open to guests to explore.

Step inside to see the castle’s collection of tapestries, ceramics and paintings made for British royalty or venture outside to admire the nearby gardens and park.

Wrotham Park

Perhaps no filming location shines brighter in season 2 than Wrotham Park , also known as Aubrey Hall, the Bridgertons’ country home, where Anthony and Kate’s romance grows deeper, thanks to an intense game of pall-mall played on the grounds.

The mansion, constructed in 1754, sits upon a 2,500-acre estate and is now owned by Robert Byng, a relative of the famous Admiral John Byng. Unfortunately, the Palladian home is not open to the general public.

Blenheim Palace

While glimpses of Blenheim Palace , particularly the Great Court and Water Terraces, are most prominently highlighted in the spinoff series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story , the 18th-century country house also appears as Queen Charlotte’s residence in season 3 of Bridgerton .

The palace was designed by English architects John Vanbrugh and Nicholas Hawksmoor and was built to honor John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage site open to visitors to explore the palace’s state rooms, Churchill exhibition, Sir Winston Churchill’s birth room, garden area and more.

Halton House

Location: Buckinghamshire, England

What do the wedding reception of Daphne and Simon in season 1 and the makeshift dance scene involving Lady Danbury, Lady Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), the Sharma sisters and Bridgerton children from season 2 have in common?

Both were filmed in Halton House , as were a few more miscellaneous moments capturing the Sharmas’ accommodations at Aubrey Hall and interior shots of the Bridgerton household, according to Elle Decor .

The French Renaissance-inspired home was built for Alfred de Rothschild, who hosted regal guests, including King Edward VII and Lily Langtree, during the late 19th century. The house later became an important army base during World War I and is currently a base for the Royal Air Force today.

Osterley Park and House

The iconic Full Moon ball of season 3 takes place at Osterley Park and House , a Tudor mansion built in the 1570s and later owned by wealthy banker Sir Francis Child in 1713.

Over the years, the house became more grand and evolved into a gathering place full of world-class art and luxurious space for parties and entertainment.

The Bridgerton cast and crew are hardly the first to shoot at Osterley — films like An Alligator Named Daisy (1955), Vanity Fair (2004) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012), plus the Netflix series The Crown have all been shot on the premises as well.

Old Royal Naval College

Location: Greenwich, England

Lady Whistledown’s pamphlets are flying out of the hands of paperboys all around the Old Royal Naval College, a UNESCO world heritage estate designed by Sir Christopher Wren that once served as a hospital before becoming a top naval training college in Europe in the late 19th century.

After closing as a training ground in 1997, it became a full-time visitor attraction and is still a popular U.K. tourist spot.

Bridgerton fans can spot the Old Royal Naval College mostly throughout season 2, like when a paperboy scurries across the grounds to deliver the latest gossip from Lady Whistledown in the first episode.

Later in the same episode, a different part of the grounds served as the background of a conversation between Penelope and Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) in the marketplace. The College was also spotted in episodes 7 and 8 when members of the Ton strolled through the Grand Square and surrounding areas.

Painshill Park

Location: Surrey, England

The 18th-century landscaped garden has been the site of many afternoon park scenes in Bridgerton , including moments involving Daphne and Simon)’s courtship on the Five Arch Bridge in season 1. Painshill Park was also the location where a hot air balloon almost injured Penelope in season 3.

The grounds are open to the public to soak in the picturesque scenery and learn more about the park that architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner once described as Britain’s “greatest contribution to the visual arts," according to the park's website .

Bridgerton  has bewitched viewers with epic love stories, 1800s etiquette and elegant sets since the show first aired in 2020 – and Netflix is headed back to the Regency-era ton for season three.

The series, based on Julia Quinn ’s novels, have been hailed for their backdrop to the Georgian high society marriage mart seen on screen.

For ‘Polin’ season, lead love interests Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton will undoubtedly promenade parks in bloom, quadrille at lavish balls and court at country homes across England .

Though set in Mayfair, London with houses intended to sit in the elite Grosvenor Square, Lady Whistledown’s scandal sheets actually deliver to filming locations across Bath , London and Surrey .

With many of the stately homes ticketed and open to the public outside of filming periods, here are the real-life locations you can visit for a behind-the-scenes tour of the sordid ‘ton’.

Where is Bridgerton filmed?

Aside from the manors that host the Bridgerton, Featherington and Sharma families, filming locations for the series are scattered across the country.

In the capital, the cameras have rolled at The Old Royal Naval College, and in West Sussex, the National Trust property Petworth Park houses the art collections visited by members of the high society in the first two seasons.

Painshill Park in Cobham, Surrey and the grounds of Windsor Great Park was used for couples to promenade in place of Primrose Hill and intense horse riding scenes between Anthony and Kate.

Elsewhere, locations spanning Bath have set up shots of Regency ‘London’ including Beauford Square and The Abbey Deli – a real-life cafe on Abbey St that doubles as the Modiste Dress Shop.

Ranger’s House, Greenwich

The exterior of the Bridgerton home of siblings A to H is filmed at Ranger’s House, an art gallery located in Blackheath to the west of Greenwich Park . The Georgian red-brick mansion is adorned with wisterias and houses the Wernher Collection of art – a ticketed gallery of 700 works of art from Renaissance to French tapestries.

Halton House, Buckinghamshire

Inside the leading family’s home, interiors in hues of blue including the spiral staircase and grand hall were shot in Buckinghamshire’s Grade II-listed Halton House, historically the main officers’ mess for RAF Halton.

As for the Bridgerton’s elegant country estate, Aubrey Hall in Hertfordshire on 2,500 acres of the Wrotham Park estate hosts the family's summer jollies in the countryside.

Royal Crescent, Bath

Exterior shots of the Featherington’s flamboyant house are filmed outside the famed No 1 Royal Crescent in Bath, with Basildon Park in Reading used to portray the grand gardens at the rear of the estate.

Now a functioning townhouse museum, visitors can take an immersive tour to see art from 1776-1796 and dress up Regency-style in Georgian dressing rooms.

Hatfield House, Hertfordshire

The Featherington’s lemon and lime interiors are filmed in Hatfield House, also the set of the gentlemen’s club frequented by the Bridgerton brothers. A Grade I listed country house built by Robert Cecil in 1611, Jacobean decor including mosaic portraits will likely be spotted in the background of lead character Penelope’s home throughout season three.

Holburne Museum of Art, Bath

Bath’s Holburne Museum of Art sets the scene for external shots of Lady Danbury’s pillared cream mansion. Interiors of the home that frequently hosts the Duke of Hastings and the Sharmas in seasons one and two were filmed at Badminton House in Gloucestershire and Wilton House, the country seat of the Earls of Pembroke, in Salisbury.

Hampton Court Palace, East Moseley

Queen Charlotte’s supposed Buckingham and St James Palace facades during Anthony Bridgerton’s opulent wedding to Edwina Sharma – the season’s diamond – were filmed at Hampton Court Palace, East Moseley. The Privy Garden and the baroque Tudor home of Henry VIII also appeared in the Bridgerton  spin-off  Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story .

Lancaster House, Westminster

As for the interiors of the Queen of England’s royal abodes, the Queen’s parlour, drawing room and jewellery room were shot in Lancaster House – a mansion on The Mall with staircases built to echo Versailles , marble finish walls and a long gallery fit for hosting coronation banquets and afternoon teas galore.

Where is ‘Bridgerton’ season 3 filmed? Inside the filming locations you can actually visit

All the Regency wonders of the Netflix romp – and where to find them

Gregory James Wakeman

When work began on Bridgerton ’s third season , the team behind Netflix’s smash-hit historical romance knew that they had to take episodes to the next level.

‘With season three we just wanted to make everything bigger everywhere,’ says   location manager Tony Hood . He’s worked on all three seasons, as well as its spin-off Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story . ‘More colour, bigger costumes, bigger locations… more everything,’ he says of the ethos behind the grander-than-ever mansions, country piles and manors in the new season. ‘We wanted it bigger and better.’

Fans intent on getting a closer look at how the Bridgerton and Featherington families live will feast their eyes on a plethora of real locations – some old, some new. But finding (and using) those locations comes with some unique challenges. ‘In every room you walk into there are priceless pieces of furniture or art that usually can’t even be breathed on, let alone moved,’ says Hood. ‘We have to shift these things that are worth an astronomical amount of money.’

So what opulent Regency venues appear in season 3? We asked Hood to take us through its locations.

Osterley Park

Osterley Park and House, London

A few miles west of London, you’ll find the Georgian splendour of Osterley Park and House. The abode, originally dating back to the 1570s, makes a starring turn in the second episode of the new season when it plays host to the Full Moon Ball. ‘It’s a beautiful building,’ says Hood, ‘and it worked very well for the ball sequence which had to be spectacular.’ The locations team were attracted to the ‘inner courtyard, which has columns on the outside’, explains Hood. Although with no full moon to coincide with the shoot, Bridgerton had to generate its own lunar rays. ‘We had to use a huge crane outside to create the moonlight for the ball.’ says the location chief.

📌  Visitor information

Squerryes Court

Squerryes Court, Kent

This late 17th-century manor house makes its Bridgerton debut in the opening episode of season three. ‘It was bit of a find,’ says Hood. Squerryes Court provides the setting for a garden party scene after the year’s debutantes are introduced to Queen Charlotte. ‘It was really cold that day,’ recalls Hood. Shooting winter – or autumn – for summer piles on the workload for the art department. ‘Filming takes about eight months,’ he says, ‘but I’d say three of those months are useful because the trees have blossomed and the gardens look green. The rest of the time we have to add greenery to the trees. It’s a huge amount of work.’

Grimsthorpe Castle

Grimsthorpe Castle, Lincolnshire

Just over 100 miles north of London is Grimsthorpe Castle, a citadel dating back to 13th century. In Bridgerton, it’s used as the home to a new character called Lord Hawkins. The character is an ‘eccentric man fascinated by inventions’ and Hood says that a suitably strange and out-there location was needed for him. ‘It needed to be a large and very ornate building, which is unusual for [ Bridgerton ].’ It’s here that the Innovations Ball in episode 3 was filmed, with the castle’s huge courtyard and walled garden featuring prominently. There was some heavy-lifting required when it turned out that the Grimsthorpe’s floor was too old to be used for the dance sequences. ‘We had to build a dance floor for the dancers, which took an awful long time,’ says Hood. ‘But it’s a great location. We loved it up there.’

Bridgerton

Claydon House, Buckinghamshire & Kingston Bagpuize House, Oxfordshire

Built in the mid-18th century, Claydon will pop up in the second part of Bridgerton’ s third season (on Netflix on June 13). Hood is sworn to secrecy on its exact use in the show, but as a Grade I listed building with Grade II listed gardens, our gold sovereign is on some kind of fancy-dan gathering. Kingston Bagpuize House in Oxfordshire will also be included in the next batch of episodes, too. Fans of period films and shows will recognise the country house, as it has previously been used for Emma and Downton Abbey.

📌 Visitor information for Claydon House and Kingston Bagpuize House

Bridgerton

Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire’s Blenheim Palace was a key location in  Bridgerton  spinoff  Queen Charlotte. It’s making its  Bridgerton debut proper in season 3, playing host to the Hawkins Hot Air Balloon Event – pictured above – and standing in for Buckingham House.

Bridgerton

Basildon Park, Berkshire

This season also gives the show a chance to dive deeper into Basildon Park, Berkshire. Previously used as an exterior for the Featherington family’s garden, we’ll see the interiors too this time out. It’s home to a new character, Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New). ‘It’s immaculate inside,’ says Hood. ‘Everything – the mouldings, ornaments, plasterwork, furniture, woodwork – was done with the same design.’

Bridgerton season 3

Wilton House, Wiltshire

Used by Bridgerton in each season to date, Wilton House makes a triumphant return in season three. This is where Queen Charlotte does most of her talking with Lady Danbury, so its location is utilised to heighten her power.

As well as its gorgeous rooms and hallways, there’s another reason Hood loves Wilton: its famous Double Cube Room. ‘It has the biggest private collection of van Dyck paintings in the world. God only knows how much they’re all worth. It’s a beautiful room.’

For season 3, Hood used the exteriors of Wilton House for the first time. ‘There's a lovely river that runs through the back of the grounds,’ he says, ‘and we [use] that a lot for promenading. Wilton is not of the right realm, but we get a lot out of it when we go there.’

Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace returns to Bridgerton in season 3, making a starring appearance in episode four when the Greek myth ballet and Queen’s Ball takes place. Hood adds that the vast palace comes in handy whenever they’re missing a location for additional sequences. ‘You probably wouldn't guess what we've used Hampton Court for,’ he says. Master Carpenter’s Court and Tennis Court Lane were used as a printing shop and in carriage scenes, respectively. ‘We squeeze things in to shoot there that you wouldn’t think would be shot there,’ says Hood. ‘But that’s the way.’   📌  Visitor information

Love Bridgerton ? Here are five filming locations you can visit in real life

These stunning locales from the hit Netflix series are open to the public, dates and times permitting.

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Gather around, dear gentle readers, for we have some stupendous news to spread.

Since the burning Bridgerton question on everyone’s mind has been “Which dazzling filming locations and stately homes from the show can I visit in real life?,” here’s a selection of five enchanting places across the U.K. where the hit Netflix series has been filmed — all of which you can actually tour.

Created by Chris Van Dusen for Shondaland and adapted from Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, the delightful concoction of Downton Abbey and Gossip Girl is now in its third season, still following the trials, tribulations, and oh-so-fancy outings of the Bridgerton and Featherington families as they ball-hop across the colorful social seasons of early 19th century London. So let’s slip into something lavishly majestic and tour the stomping grounds of Daphne Bridgerton ( Phoebe Dynevor ); Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings ( Regé-Jean Page ); Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh); Penelope Featherington ( Nicola Coughlan ); and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), among other Bridgerton personalities.

(Hopefully, we’ll hide from the eyes and ears of the ever-observant Lady Whistledown.)

Ranger’s House (London, England)

Serving as the exterior of the elegant Bridgerton family residence where Lady Bridgerton lives with her eight daughters and sons, Ranger’s House — a graceful villa built in 1723 — is one of the few London-based locations used in the series. A stately Georgian art museum located by Greenwich Park and Blackheath, Ranger’s House is the permanent home of the famous Wernher Collection , featuring art curated by 19th-century businessman Sir Julius Wernher.

English Heritage/Getty

Open on select days (with a discount for advance bookings) and available to rent for private events like weddings, the picturesque house includes more than 700 artworks — among them jewelry, Renaissance paintings, medieval sculptures, and oil works from the Dutch Golden Age. One thing you won’t see outside the Ranger’s House, however, is the wisteria that gloriously decorates the property’s welcoming façade in the series. Production reportedly added that detail to give the lovely house an even lovelier appeal (and to enhance the show’s vibrant color scheme).

While the real house’s past is touched by numerous noble and royal residents, its Bridgerton presence is similarly exciting. Take the season 3 premiere when Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) returns home from abroad, with numerous lady suitors fawning over him while Penelope watches from afar. Can you imagine a finer backdrop to this dreamy scene than the Ranger’s House?

Hatfield House (Hertfordshire, England)

Many locations are used to portray the interiors of the Featherington residence, and the lavish, stately Hatfield House is one of them. It’s a charming locale with dazzling aesthetics that are in sync with the Featherington family’s taste for showy prints and happy shades of citrusy greens and yellows.

If Hatfield House looks familiar to your eyes beyond Bridgerton , that’s because the location has been a perennial film and TV favorite. Its appearances range from Batman Begins (2005), The King’s Speech (2010), and The Crown (2016–2023), to The Favourite (2018), Enola Holmes (2020), and the recent Alfred Hitchcock remake Rebecca (2020), where Hatfield House was one of the six residences used to create the infamous estate, Manderley.

Loop Images/Universal Images Group via Getty

Built in 1611 by Robert Cecil (the 1st Earl of Salisbury) in the Jacobean style of the era while “ adjoining the site of the Old Palace of Hatfield ,” the house includes many examples of the period’s craftsmanship, along with a famous Grand Staircase and a private chapel decorated with a rare stained glass window. One part of Hatfield House’s storied legacy is that it was once the accommodation of Queen Elizabeth I, and later of the Cecils’ descendants for hundreds of years. Today, the house and its surrounding gardens are open to the public for visits on select days and are occupied by the 7th Marquess and Marchioness of Salisbury.

And let’s not forget, it’s also the home of Penelope Featherington as she sits and reads in the drawing room and sharpens her writing skills elsewhere around the property.

No. 1 Royal Crescent (Somerset, England)

“No. 1 Royal Crescent is a magnificently restored town-house museum where you can explore fashionable life in Georgian Bath of the 18th Century,” according to its website . If the place looks familiar, that’s because its sophisticated architecture appeared in the Keira Knightley film The Duchess (2008) before standing as the exterior of the Featherington clan’s family manor. You’ll quickly recognize the estate’s front door and Penelope’s window, giving her a wistful view of the Bridgerton house and, thus, much gossip to ponder.

Matt Cardy/Getty

Built in the 18th century, the estate is decorated in the style of its heyday between 1776 and 1796. A visit ( on the select days when the property is open ) promises to be like traveling back in time as you browse the museum’s antiques, historical furniture, and works of art to get an immersive taste of life centuries ago. With chambers like “The Gentleman’s Retreat,” “Cabinet of Curiosities,” “The Withdrawing Room,” and “The Servants’ Hall,” No. 1 Royal Crescent — now well into its sixth decade as a public museum — is the whole package for both Bridgerton fans and everyone else curious about the upstairs vs. downstairs experience of the time.

Halton House (Buckinghamshire, England)

If you are still gushing over the Featherington Ball from the season 2 finale — or Daphne and the Duke of Hastings’ storybook wedding reception in season 1 — then you must head to Buckinghamshire for a visit to the French-style Halton House, an enthralling chateau-esque country estate in the Chiltern Hills. The interior shots of Bridgerton House (especially near the grand staircase) owe much of their refined glory to this estate in Aylesbury, which also appeared in The King’s Speech , Downton Abbey , and The World Is Not Enough (1999).

English Heritage/Heritage Images/Getty

Immortalized on the National Heritage List for England — a registry of the country’s most significant historic buildings and sites — the fabulous house was built for Alfred de Rothschild in the early 1880s, where Rothschild used it as a country residence from 1883 until his death in 1918. The current owner of the mansion is The Royal Air Force (RAF); the home and its grounds (one of the UK’s largest RAF stations) are used by the staff located at RAF Halton, so the location will be open for viewing on select days only, which you can find on the RAF Halton website .

Wilton House (Wiltshire, England)

A true chameleon that portrays several different locations throughout Bridgerton , Wilton House is proudly among the most prolific star homes in the UK. It served as the Buckingham Palace stand-in for The Crown and appeared in the likes of Emma (2020) and  Pride & Prejudice (2005). That regal legacy lives on as Queen Charlotte’s royal residence in Bridgerton , as her bedroom, parlor, presentation chamber, and gardens are all filmed at Wilton. In the show, the grand Wilton also stands as Lady Danbury’s library, the dining room of Clyvedon Castle (where the married Simon and Daphne live as the Duke and Duchess of Hastings), and the exterior of the Duke of Hastings’ house, as well as its hallways and study.

The house was built in 1543 by the 1st Earl of Pembroke in the Palladian style and has been in the hands of the Pembroke family for nearly 500 years. The current (and 18th) Earl and Countess of Pembroke say on the Wilton House website that its buildings and land were granted to the Earl’s ancestor, Sir William Herbert, in 1544 and have been connected to “the political and artistic circles of England ” since then. The house is currently open for the summer season on select days and times , ready to receive history connoisseurs and Bridgerton enthusiasts alike.

Bridgerton Season 3: Tour the Elaborate Sets

bridgerton house tour

In the world of Bridgerton appearance is everything. Netflix’s Shondaland smash hit, which will air its latest season in two four-episode drops (the first premiering May 16 and the second June 13), is known for delivering appropriately rich Regency -era sets for its London high society setting. Though the exterior shots of the show’s dwellings use a number of real-life historic buildings—like the wisteria-laced Bridgerton family house, which borrows its façade from a circa-1723 Georgian villa in Greenwich, London—its interiors are all the work of a dedicated production crew tasked with transforming bare-bones soundstages into intricate 19th-century homes fit for royalty.

The highly anticipated third installment will return fans to some familiar spaces, like the Bridgerton and Featherington homes, while introducing a few new spots. Viewers will be welcomed back inside the Bridgerton family drawing/morning room (oh, to have a designated morning room), decked out in its classic palette of pale cream and Wedgewood blue—or Bridgerton blue, as it’s known in these halls.

Bridgerton family drawing room with woman seated at brown wood piano long white skirt of dress draped along wood floors...

The Bridgerton family’s drawing and morning room, where the color palette is designed to reflect the clan’s “warm, friendly nature.” The piano, an original pianoforte, is very delicate and must be tuned by a specialist prior to each playing scene for the production.

In a new video, AD catches up with the show’s production designer Alison Gartshore for an inside look at the new season’s sets, and the Bridgerton abode’s common area is done up in some extra festive decor. Blue and yellow blooms cascade from the columns, while elaborate cakes (fake) adorned with handmade floral and cherub detailing (real; fondant icing and sugarcraft) create a celebratory atmosphere “for a particularly special scene,” Gartshore hints.

Elsewhere in the Bridgerton residence, one of the show’s fan-favorite unions coincides with a marriage of decorative motifs. (Longtime lurkers planning to tune into the series eventually , look away: spoilers ahead.) Season 3 sees newlyweds Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) cohabiting in an apartment within the abode that borrows some elements of the family home’s original style , like its color palette, while remixing it to be “a little bit livelier, and a little bit younger in feel,” Gartshore explains. That familiar Bridgerton blue joins a somewhat “peachier” cream shade, meant as a nod to Kate.

“We’ve brought in some of the warmer tones, which we had for Kate and [her sister] Edwina last season, and we’ve married them together with the Bridgerton classic palette,” Gartshore says. She points out references to Kate’s Indian heritage in the couple’s marital quarters, such as paisley fabrics, “trims on the canopy [bed] that we felt reflected Indian culture quite well,” and various decor items including elephants, ivory, and brass throughout the space to signify her presence being woven into the home.

The interior design cues to Kate’s Indian roots continue in her study, where the walls are lined with medallions of scenes “all from India,” Gartshore says, referencing imagery like peacocks (India’s national bird) in oval-shaped gold frames. Others are simply nods to the viscountess’s affinities, including a “specially commissioned” portrait of her corgi , Newton, and one of a regal chestnut steed, a gesture to her equestrian skills.

Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma in still from Bridgerton season 3. In Kates study...

Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma embrace beside the desk in the latter’s study. The new viscountess’s workspace is lined with nods to her Indian heritage.

Kate’s study is anchored by a stately wooden desk, covered with papers detailing her accounts in fine calligraphy. But perhaps more important to the narrative is the size and the sturdiness of the furniture piece: “If you know Bridgerton, you’ll know that there’s quite a lot of intimate scenes throughout the series,” Gartshore says, running a hand over Kate’s desk. “And not to give you any spoilers, but we always have to make sure that, where we have those intimacy scenes, the furniture will stand up to the job, shall we say.”

Aside from the Bridgerton manor, another set that returns for the season is the Featherington home, with its trademark citrus yellows and greens, echoing the signature lemon-lime costuming of the Featherington family.

Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) stands in her family’s trademark green abode.

This Cozy Connecticut Farmhouse Ups the Ante on Countryside Living

The elegant plasterwork on the dwelling’s walls is highly elaborate, which Gartshore calls “a completely over-the-top treatment,” adding that it would be uncommon to see quite so much of that detailing in a space. “Lady Featherington (Polly Walker) is very concerned with how other people see her, she’s very shallow…. We reflect that in the way we decorate their spaces,” she says.

The furniture in the Featherington’s place is based on the style of a designer contemporary to the Bridgerton narrative, Thomas Hope, who was influenced by Egyptian aesthetics and relied on lots of blacks and golds. The team found Hope’s style fitting for the family: “It’s very intense, it’s very in-your-face, it’s very Versace,” Gartshore says.

New for Bridgerton season 3 are some interiors in the Cowper family home, where deep blue walls with hand-painted marbling set a grave, masculine tone in the corridor. Viewers can expect to learn more about the backstory of Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen), who comes off as somewhat abrasive in earlier seasons. “We understand her to be quite a difficult lady,” Gartshore says. “We start to understand a little bit more about, maybe, why she is as difficult as she is.” She notes that the space was designed to reflect “the masculinity and the austerity of her father, who’s quite an overbearing character, it turns out.”

Cressida Cowper and Lady Cowper in scene from Bridgerton. Dark blue drawing room lined with red columns two round side...

Cressida Cowper (left) and Lady Cowper (Joanna Bobin) in the drawing room of the Cowper home, designed to contrast with Cressida’s frilly, feminine wardrobing.

The creators wanted the Cowper home, particularly the drawing room, to feel oppressive. An earth-toned palette devoid of the vibrant pinks and feminine pastels of Cressida’s wardrobing contrasts starkly to her character’s vibe. The style highlights her lack of belonging in the area, with its imposing red marble columns and impossibly sky-high bookshelves . Even the wood ladder propped against them appears to scale only halfway up.

“We had a scene where one of our characters wanted to look at the books and Cressida was very nervous about that,” Gartshore says. “She’s not actually allowed to touch the books. Being a woman, it’s not her place to touch the books.” Despite the depiction of literacy firmly outside of the realm of women’s business in the Cowper home, we presume Bridgerton season 3 will see Cressida (and plenty of the show’s other women characters) voraciously reading the documents that drive much of the show’s drama: Lady Whistledown’s scandalous gossip column.

The Baroque stately home has been in owned by the Carlisle family for more than 300 years. The 3rd Earl asked John Vanburgh to design a new stately home that would become Castle Howard.

The construction lasted 100 years and was not finished when John Vanbrugh and the 3rd Earl died. The Earl’s son-in-law added a Palladian wing to the Baroque structure giving the home an asymmetrical appearance.

The Filming Locations of Netflix's "Bridgerton" That Tourists Can Visit

Bridgerton , the soapy, sexy take on Regency England courtesy of executive producer Shonda Rhimes, is a certified smash on Netflix—but fans of period drama will be forgiven if they can't shake the sense and sensibility that they've seen several of the show's locations before.

That's because the series re-created Georgian-era style by shooting in some of Britain's last surviving country homes and classical gardens. The modern-day owners of these sumptuous showplaces often subsidize daunting maintenance costs by renting space to movies and TV shows—and, in many cases, open the doors to tourists for at least part of the year.

Here are some of Bridgerton 's most important settings, along with links and directions—so you can have a ball there, too. Before visiting any of the historic homes below, check their websites for temporary closures affecting interior spaces, tours, and amenities. In some cases, you may need to make advance reservations for timed entry.

Bridgerton shooting locations: Ranger's House, Greenwich, London

The exterior of the Bridgerton family's home is played by the Ranger's House  on the western edge of Greenwich Park in southeast London . The mansion, once known as Chesterfield House, dates to the 1720s and is a lesser-known museum containing the bulk of the art collection of Julius Wernher, a German-born baron of South African diamond mines.

A few minutes' walk away, you can visit some of Greenwich's other great sights, including the Royal Observatory and Meridian Courtyard , Maritime Greenwich (which stood in for Paris in the 2012 film adaptation of  Les Misérables ), and the spectacular National Maritime Museum ,   connected by portico to 1616's  Queen's House , which was shot as Somerset House  for Bridgerton . All of them can be visited.

Ranger's House: Chesterfield Walk, Greenwich, London. Train stations: Greenwich or Cutty Sark. Closed over the winter.

Bridgerton shooting locations: Wilton House

Clyvedon Castle, the home of Bridgerton 's Duke of Hastings, is not a real place. Massive  Wilton House , 3 miles west of Salisbury , supplied many of the interiors instead. The portrait hall, hallway, and entrance hall all make appearances on screen. The drawing room and grand hall, meanwhile, stood in for chambers in the residence of another character, Lady Danbury, and the grounds were shot as a substitute for London's Hyde Park.

Wilton House is also featured in nearly every episode of another Netflix series,  The Crown , posing as Buckingham Palace. Wilton's  Double Cube Room (pictured above) serves as part of Her Majesty's family living quarters.

Wilton, Salisbury. Train station: Salisbury, then bus R3 or R8; t rains to Salisbury from London take about 90 minutes.

Bridgerton shooting locations: Castle Howard

The outside of the show's Clyvedon Castle is actually Castle Howard , an 18th-century architectural hodgepodge about 200 miles north of London near the city of York . This vainglorious pile is so oversized that its creator demolished the village of Henderskelfe because it spoiled his view. You might have also seen the Castle (which, despite the name, isn't one) in 1981's  Brideshead Revisited miniseries.   Like most of the other Bridgerton locations, Castle Howard is open for tours; you can see rooms in which some of the show's balls were staged. Those magnificent, village-eating gardens are accessible for strolls as well. And yes, as in the show, the estate's Temple of the Four Winds , a rococo folly built on the grounds, would make a secluded spot for a little lovers' folly of your own—but out of decorum, kindly refrain.

Castle Howard Estate, York. Train station: Malton

Bridgerton shooting locations: Syon House

Syon House , a well-preserved private home for nobility just west of London, is a frequent movie star, appearing in dozens of productions including  Gosford Park and The Madness of King George . In Bridgerton , the place stands in for King George III's pad once again, but this time it pretends to be Buckingham House, the smaller precursor to today's Buckingham Palace  (itself open summers in central London).

Bridgerton scenes set in the King's hallway and dining room were shot at Syon, but that's not all: It was also used for the study and dressing room of the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset. Outside, the 30-acre gardens are often open on weekends, and there's a free 200-acre public park beyond.

Syon Park, Brentford, Middlesex.  Train station: Brentford or Syon Lane. House interior open only three days a week from March to October (check ahead).

Bridgerton shooting locations: Hatfield House, England

Hatfield House , 21 miles north of London, is frequently used as a location in period pieces—it also provided the setting for the Oscar-winning The Favourite. The building   makes appearances in Bridgerton as the home of the Featheringtons and as the Gentleman’s Club.

Great North Road, Hatfield. Train station: Hatfield; park and gardens closed for winter; house open only in summer.

Bridgerton shooting locations: No. 1 Royal Crescent, Bath, England

The streets of Bath , an ideally preserved oasis of historic architecture and Roman mineral springs, actually did most of the on-camera work for London's Mayfair neighborhood.  Bath Street ,  Alfred Street , and  Beauford Square  all hosted scenes, and the  Bath Guildhall  served as the show's Rambury Ballroom. (The Guildhall is only open for private hire, but you can  take a virtual tour .)

The front doors of  No. 1 Royal Crescent   (pictured above), a popular townhouse museum preserving Regency style, also stood in for part of the Featheringtons' home. The rest of Royal Crescent was used as Siena’s London home as well as Grosvenor Square. Train station: Bath Spa

Bridgerton shooting locations: Holburne Museum of Art

The exterior of wealthy widow Lady Danbury's mansion is actually Bath's  Holburne Museum , which houses the eclectic art collection of a rich 19th-century naval officer. It was built in 1799 as the Sydney Hotel, and it still has the last remaining English pleasure garden from the 1700s.

A few storefronts in Bath also served as settings. The Modiste dress shop is a real commercial space at 2 Abbey Street , and Simon has too much to drink at a bar that's actually a cafe called The Colombian Company  at 6 Abbeygate Street. One of the show's many balls was filmed beneath the chandeliers of Bath's handsome Assembly Rooms —already part of the standard tourist circuit.

The Holburne Museum: Great Pulteney Street. Train station: Bath Spa

Bridgerton shooting locations: Badminton House

The interior of Badminton House , on yet another luscious country estate, also performed split duty as portions of the homes of both the Duke and Lady Danbury. But it also served as the inside of the Foundling Hospital. It may surprise some viewers to see such a well-appointed orphanage, but the real  Foundling Museum  in London's Coram Fields still attests to how luxurious such public facilities could be—in the years before government support, foundling homes served as social centers for philanthropists. Because the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort still live at Badminton House, the gardens are open to the public for only one day a year, and the interior is usually restricted to group tours.

Badminton House: South Gloucestershire, Badminton

Pictured above: The North Hall

Bridgerton shooting locations: Windsor Great Park

For people who have to put on so many layers of clothing, tie so many laces, and attend so many balls, the characters of Bridgerton sure have a lot of time to spend outdoors. Instead of filming at London's actual Battersea Fields and Rotten Row, scenes were shot in  Windsor Great Park , a public green space on the doorstep of the monarchy's principal residence and burial place:  Windsor Castle , located a town west of London (train station: Windsor & Eton Riverside or Windsor & Eton Central ) .

Meanwhile, what is meant to be North London's Hampstead Heath is actually the grounds of  Somerley House in Hampshire, about 100 miles southwest of London. Primrose Hill is actually Painshill park in Cobham (20 miles southwest of London). Not far from there, Sunbury Walled Garden was used for Kensington Gardens.

Smart Bridgerton Theory Reveals The Replacement For Eloise's Book Husband Was Introduced In Season 3

Bridgerton season 3's daphne replacement is a much better character than she ever was, bridgerton's perfect replacement is this forgotten 2016 drama based on a 155-year-old book.

Netflix's hot new Regency Era romance, Bridgerton , was filmed primarily on location in England, with dozens of different houses, museums, parks, and streets used as filming locations. Though Bridgerton is set in London, the Netflix show was mostly filmed in Bath and at English country homes outside of London, but many London locations were also used.

Bridgerton is set in 1813 and features many well-known, real-life sites like Buckingham Palace, St. James's Palace, Hyde Park, and Somerset House. However, due to the nature of these sites, the actual locations were rarely used. Instead, some of England's many other luxurious and historic homes, as well as gorgeous natural areas and well-kept gardens, were used to recreate many real-life locations.

The primary fictional sets in Bridgerton are the Bridgerton home, the Featherington home, Hastings House, and Clyvedon Castle, but most of these sets actually share filming locations. Wilton House, for example, was used to film six different locations within Bridgerton . In the end, it's nearly impossible to tell when a location is used twice simply because the stately homes and sprawling grounds used for filming are unfathomably large. Here's a list of every filming location and stately home used in filming Bridgerton season 1 .

Grosvenor Square: Royal Crescent

The Royal Crescent in Bath was used to mimic Mayfair, London. The crescent is comprised of a row of 30 townhomes, resembling the large, stately buildings that surround Grosvenor Square, where all eight Bridgerton siblings and Featherington families both live. It’s also the filming location of Siena’s London flat.

Bridgerton House: Ranger’s House, Halton House, and Chatham Dockyard

Ranger’s House, located near Greenwich Park in London, was used as the exterior for Bridgerton House. In real life, the location houses a large art collection and, sadly, is not draped in lovely purple wisteria. The interior of Bridgerton House was filmed at Halton House, which is located within RAF Halton, a Royal Air Force base in Buckinghamshire. The house serves as an officers’ mess and has been used as a filming location for The Crown , Downton Abbey , Evita , Bride and Prejudice , and The King’s Speech . Bridgerton House’s garden scenes were filmed at Chatham Dockyard.

St. James’s Palace: Hampton Court Palace and Lancaster House

The exterior scenes for St. James’s Palace ( Queen Charlotte’s part-time residence ) were filmed at Hampton Court Palace in London, though one establishing shot is possibly CGI, either in part or full, because it more closely resembles St. James's Palace than Hampton Court Palace. The historic Hampton Court Palace, which was once a favorite residence of King Henry VIII, is now owned by Queen Elizabeth II. Hampton Court Palace can also be seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides , Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows , Holmes & Watson , The Favourite , and Disney’s live-action Cinderella .

Related: Bridgerton: Why Lady Whistledown Really Hides Her Identity

Interiors were shot at Lancaster House, also in London, but Lancaster House was built in 1825, meaning that Bridgerton ’s setting predates the luxurious mansion. Lancaster House has portrayed another royal residence, Buckingham Palace, in various films and TV shows: National Treasure: Book of Secrets , The Young Victoria , Downton Abbey , The Crown , and The King’s Speech .

Featherington House: Halton House, Royal Crescent Museum, and Hatfield House

Halton House at RAF Halton, which also served as a location for the Bridgerton's home, was used for the Featherington’s dining room. Exteriors of the Featherington family home were filmed at the Royal Crescent, specifically the Royal Crescent Museum. Other interiors for the Featherington home were shot at Hatfield House, which is a well-known Jacobean home in Hertfordshire that has appeared in dozens of productions, most recently Rebecca , Enola Holmes , Pride and Prejudice and Zombies , The Favourite , and the Jonas Brothers music video for “Sucker.”

Coaching Inn: Dorney Court

Simon and Daphne’s steamy wedding night scene was filmed at Dorney Court, a Tudor-era manor in Buckinghamshire England. The home, though open to the public, is privately owned and still occupied, with the layout remaining much the same over the last 500 years.

Hastings House: Wilton House, Badminton House, and Syon House

Exterior shots of Wilton House were used to depict Simon Basset’s London home, Hastings House . Wilton House is in Salisbury about a hundred miles southwest of London. The home has a history that dates back as early as 871 and has been used in many films, like Pride and Prejudice , The Young Victoria, Tomb Raider , The Crown , and Emma . The interiors for Hastings House were shot at Badminton House in Gloucestershire, north of Bath, and at Syon House in London, which can also be seen in and Killing Eve .

Related: Bridgerton: Why Lord Hastings Hated Simon's Stammer So Much

Clyvedon Castle: Castle Howard, Wilton House, Badminton House, and North Mymms Park

Exteriors for Clyvedon Castle, as well as some interiors, were shot at Castle Howard in York. Simon and Daphne’s rain-soaked love scene, set to an instrumental cover of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams,” takes place at The Temple of the Four Winds, a small stone building designed by Castle Howard architect John Vanbrugh for the 3rd Earl of Carlisle in the early 1700s.

Simon and Daphne’s newlywed dining room scenes at Clyvedon were filmed at Wilton House, where scenes for Hastings House, Lady Danbury’s House, and St. George’s Church were also filmed. Other scenes for Clyvedon were filmed at Badminton House (also used for Hastings House, Lady Danbury’s House, and a hospital) and the nursery was filmed at North Mymms Park in Hatfield.

Clyvedon Village: Coneysthorpe Village and Primrose Cottage

Clyvedon Village, located on Simon’s estate, is where newlywed Simon and Daphne attend a local festival while Daphne judges a pig contest and adjusts to the duties of a duchess. The quaint town was filmed at Coneysthorpe Village in York and Joanna's home is located at Primrose Cottage.

St. George’s Church: St. Mary’s Parish Church and Wilton House

St. Mary’s Parish Church, located in Twickenham near the Royal Botanic Gardens, served as the interior for St. George’s Church in Bridgerton , where Simon and Daphne are wed. The exteriors of the church were filmed at Wilton House in Salisbury, which was also used to film Hastings House.

Lady Danbury’s House: Holburne Museum of Art, Badminton House, and Wilton House

The exterior of Lady Danbury’s home is portrayed by the Holburne Museum of Art in Bath. The hallway and bathroom of Lady Danbury’s house were filmed at Badminton House, which was also used for Clyvedon Castle and Hastings House. The drawing room and grand hall of Lady Danbury’s house were filmed at Wilton House, which was also used to film scenes that take place at Buckingham Palace, Clyvedon Castle, Hastings House, Hyde Park, and St. George’s Church.

Ballroom Scenes: Leigh Court, Castle Howard, Bath Guildhall, and Dunridge Manor Farm

Dance scenes in Bridgerton were filmed at Leigh Court in Bristol, Castle Howard in York, the Bath Guildhall, and Dundridge Manor Farm. Dundridge Manor Farm, which is located northwest of London, is where an outdoor dance scene was filmed – most likely the dream sequence of Daphne’s in Bridgerton season 1, episode 3, “Art of the Swoon.”

London Street Scenes: Bath and London

Most of Bridgerton ’s London scenes were filmed in Bath, which has plenty of architecture to mimic Regency Era London. Bath Street, Alfred Street, and Beauford Square were all used for filming. Other London street scenes were actually filmed in London. Chatham Dockyard was used for many scenes, including one in which Lady Featherington takes the pregnant and unwed Marina Thompson to an impoverished neighborhood to scare her into marrying quickly, another scene where Lady Whistledown’s carriage flees away from a printing press, and the apartment of Will and Alice – Simon’s friends.

London Park Scenes: Wilton House, Somerley House, Windsor Great Park, Painshill Park, Sanbury Park & Walled Garden, and Greenwich Park Rose Garden

The Bridgertons and Featheringtons take many walks in well-known London parks like Hyde Park, Hampstead Heath, Battersea Fields, and Rotten Row, but the scenes were actually filmed at Wilton House, Somerley House in Hampshire, and Windsor Great Park. Primrose Hill and the Botanical Gardens were depicted using Painshill Park. Kensington Garden scenes were filmed at Sunbury Park & Walled Garden, located in southwest London right on the River Thames. Other park and garden scenes were filmed at the Greenwich Park Rose Garden near central London.

Related: Bridgerton: Why Lady Whistledown Is Secretly The Villain

Buckingham Palace: Wilton House, Lancaster House, and Syon House

Wilton House, Lancaster House, and Syon House were used for the exteriors and interiors of the gravely ill King George III ’s residence at Buckingham Palace (known at the time as Buckingham House) and all three locations were repurposed for several other locations in Bridgerton . The memorable scene featuring King George III and Queen Charlotte having dinner together was filmed at Syon House in London.

Concert and Opera Scenes: Theater Royal Brighton, Hackney Empire, and Lancaster House

The interior of the opera house where Siena Russo performs was filmed at the Hackney Empire - a theater in London. Interior scenes for other concerts attended by characters were filmed at Theatre Royal Brighton in Brighton, Lancaster House in London, and Queen’s House in Greenwich, near the Old Royal Naval College.

Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens: Castle Howard and Stowe Park

The Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens are located a short walk across Vauxhall Bridge from Buckingham Palace in London, but the pleasure garden no longer exists as did two hundred years ago, the way it’s depicted in Bridgerton season 1 . The Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens were recreated at Castle Howard and Stowe Park, where the Temple of Venus was used for scenes at Vauxhall. Even though the suggestive term “pleasure gardens” merely refers to public areas with live entertainment, the Temple of Venus adds another layer of salacious meaning to the final scene of Bridgerton , season 1, episode 1, “Diamond of the First Water,” since Venus is, after all, the Roman goddess of sex.

Boxing Scenes: Normansfield Theater and Chatham Dockyard

Chatham Dockyard, which was used to film many scenes in Bridgerton , is the location of the boxing ring where Will, Simon – and sometimes Anthony Bridgerton – practice boxing. The boxing match between Will Mondrich and Billy Gillespie, where Daphne attends with Prince Friedrich and Anthony has a rendezvous with Siena Russo under the bleachers, takes place at Normansfield Theatre in Teddington, not far from the filming location for the church where Simon and Daphne are wed.

White’s Gentlemen Club: Hatfield House, Lancaster House, North Mymms Park, and Reform Club

Though White's Gentlemen Club is based on and partially filmed in the real-life Reform Club in Pall Mall, London, filming also took place at Hatfield House, Lancaster House, and North Mymms Park – all of which were used for filming other Bridgerton scenes. The Reform Club has been used as a filming location before, but it has more frequently appeared as a real-world location in fictional stories, like Around the World in 80 Days , Paddington , and Tenet .

Somerset House: The Queen’s House and Somerley House

In Bridgerton season 1, episode 3, "Art of the Swoon," Lady Whistledown explains, "A new wing at Somerset House is to be open today where several attractions will be on display." Somerset House is a real place, but a new wing was not opened in 1813, as Lady Whistledown suggests, and Bridgerton did not use the real-world location for filming. Bridgerton filmed its Somerset House scenes at the Queen's House in Greenwich and Somerley House in Hampshire.

Modiste: Pickled Greens Caf é

Madame Delacroix's dressmaking shop, Modiste, appears in several episodes of Brdigerton - it's where the ladies gather to purchase the finest ballgowns and, while doing their shopping, gossip often spreads like wildfire. The adorable storefront of Madame Delacroix's dress shop is depicted by the storefront of a real-life café in Bath called Pickled Greens.

Gunter’s Tea Shop: Bathrooms at No. 5

Bathrooms at No.5 (a bathroom supply store) on Trim Street in London is the site of Gunter's Tea Shop where Simon and Daphne flirt over their tea and biscuits - and later have a painful breakup when Simon realizes that they are falling in love.

In Bridgerton season 1, episode 5, "The Duke and I," Simon gets drunk and finds himself on the street outside a pub. His friend, Will Mondrich , comes to the rescue as Simon struggles with his impending marriage to Daphne after the two were caught together alone. The scene was shot in Bath and a real-world coffee shop, The Colombian Company, exists at the location.

Bridgerton 's production rivals that of the most prestigious dramas to date - and likely has a budget to match. But since Bridgerton filmed on location, it's likely that most of the budget went to creating literally thousands of costume pieces. Bridgerton probably couldn't have done better than to simply use existing real-world sets and the stately homes, gardens, parks, museums, and streets perfectly complement the elaborate costumes and talented actors who bring Bridgerton to life.

Bridgerton filming location

Netflix’s Bridgerton was the series that stole our hearts and imagination this Christmas. If you have spent the last few weeks where the Bridgerton filming locations are, we can reveal that the setting for the Bridgerton 's home is a secret Georgian villa located in London.

Ranger’s House, an art museum in historic Greenwich was the setting for the wisteria-draped home in the Netflix show. Sadly, the wisteria was a touch of TV magic rather than a permanent feature.

However, the smart facade of the house is instantly recognisable as the protagonist Daphne’s home, along with her mother's and seven brothers' and sisters'.

The property is managed by English Heritage and usually open to the public. However, due to Covid-19 the property is currently closed, with plans to reopen in April 2021.

The elegant Georgian villa was built in 1722 and houses a world-class art collection. The property received its name after serving as the official residence of the Ranger of Greenwich Park in 1816.

Each room is filled with splendid works of art amassed by 19th-century businessman, Sir Julius Wernher in a stunning regency setting.

While the interiors are spectacular, imbued with all the hallmarks of Regency style, fans of the show might notice that the interiors don’t match those of the Bridgerton family home. That is because only the red brick facade of Ranger’s House was used for filming. All the interior shots were filmed RAF Halton – one of the UK’s largest Royal Air Force stations.

While Ranger’s house might not have the duck egg blue interiors we’ve come to love from the show, it is filled with a host of other treasures. The property houses over 700 works of art including Madonna della Melagrana from Sando Botticelli’s workshop, Dutch Old Masters and medieval sculptures.

Despite Bridgerton being set in London, Ranger’s House is one of the few London locations used for filming. The drama had around 100 filming locations around the UK. Most of the filming was done outside the capital in the picturesque city of Bath, an hour and a half by train to the west of London.

The Featherington House that – in the story – is opposite the Bridgertons family residence, is far from just across the road in reality. The outside shot of the house was filmed in Bath at another museum called No.1 Royal Crescent.

Britain embraces set-jetting trend; promotes 'Bridgerton' tour

Visitors taking pictures of one of the buildings where the popular TV drama, Bridgerton, was shot.

Standing opposite a mansion in the elegant English city of Bath, Tegan Shirdon marvelled at the window from where Penelope, one of the heroines of Bridgerton , would eye her love interest Colin in the hit show.

A “huge fan” of the Netflix series which has racked up 300 million views, the 20-year-old Australian student was one of around 30 tourists to descend on the southwestern city recently.

They had come from countries including the Netherlands, Canada, Spain and Japan to admire the setting for the early 19th century romance drama.

Film student Ruby Maidment, their guide for the day, dished out historical anecdotes alongside snippets about Bridgerton shoots.

She pointed to a Marks & Spencer’s supermarket sign that made it on-screen after production editors missed it, while noting the handsome fees paid to locals to stay indoors during filming.

“A lot of people when thinking about where to go for holidays, they’ll put their favourite show on and go ‘Oh, actually, why don’t we check out there?’,” she said.

This trend has a name: “set-jetting”. It has emerged in recent years with the rise of streaming platforms, and has boomed further since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Movies and television series have become the leading source of travel inspiration, ahead of social networks, according to online travel group Expedia.

It found that 39% of tourists surveyed reported they had chosen a destination after seeing it featured on screen.

Set-jetting is “becoming a significant driver and motivator for travel,” said Robin Johnson of the VisitBritain tourism authority.

“I think particularly for younger audiences – Gen Z, Millennials – who are growing up on streaming,” he added.

“It really makes sense for us Britain to capitalise on (it), because there is no bigger or better platform to promote a destination than high-end film or TV series. Money can’t buy that sort of exposure.”

Seven out of 10 international tourists have visited at least one film and TV location during their stay in Britain in the last 10 years, according to VisitBritain. Over 90% of potential visitors would be eager to do so in the future, it noted.

“There is not really much film back home where I am, so if I want to see any set of a TV show I need to come on a 17-hour flight on the other side of the world,” said Shirdon, a journalism student.

Enduring franchises such as James Bond and Harry Potter continue to attract millions of visitors. But more recent productions, such as Game Of Thrones (which was shot in Northern Ireland), Outlander in Scotland, and more recently The Crown as well as Bridgerton in England, are sustaining the momentum.

To further boost this “powerful pull”, VisitBritain and the British Film Commission, the industry’s support agency, plan to launch a joint promotional campaign next year. Called “Starring GREAT Britain”, it is aimed at attracting more travellers as well as new productions.

Transformed

The campaign will place filming locations and associated visitor experiences “centre-stage, telling the story of Britain’s regional diversity to drive visits and spend across the regions”, according to the agencies.

“When you look at what has happened in Britain over the last 10 years, Britain is now perceived as one of the biggest places in the world to make film and television,” said Adrian Wootton, head of the British Film Commission.

He noted the country had netted £3.1bil (RM17.8bil) of foreign investment as a result.

The key to this success? A combination of breathtaking scenery, English-speaking talent, big investment in studios and other filmmaking hubs, as well as generous tax reliefs, he argued.

“Places like Northern Ireland have been transformed by a series ... nobody would have considered it a tourist destination (before Game Of Thrones and its recent prequel House Of The Dragon ),” Wootton added.

By the end of 2023, Bridgerton had already generated £5mil (RM28.7mil) for the local economy thanks to domestic and international visitors – and that was before a popular third season aired this year.

“There’s definitely so much history in Britain that you don’t get as much in Canada, so we love to visit and learn all about the history,” Canadian transplant to Britain Emily Maniquet said during a visit to Bath.

“I love British television,” she added, noting she had already visited Harry Potter filming locations during a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland. – AFP
