How to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy

A handy way to get around the map.

Hogwarts Legacy fast travel - a green glowing Floo Flame is to the left of the character as she looks into the common room.

Hogwarts Legacy fast travel is a lifesaver, especially when you see just how vast the map is, both in and around the famous school. Before you unlock your trusty broom to help you get around, you'll be introduced to Floo Flames , a network that lets you travel to different locations in a flash.

When exploring the Hogwarts Legacy map fully, you'll have a lot of ground to cover, and the Floo Flame network can be very useful throughout the game. So without further ado, here's what you need to know about Hogwarts Legacy fast travel so getting around the map can be that much easier.

How to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy

You unlock the Floo Flame fast travel network just after Professor Weasley introduces you to the Field Guide pages. These unassuming green flames let you travel to them almost instantly, but you'll need to activate them before they can be used.

The map shows you the locations of every Floo Flame. Green ones are active, and those that are greyed out mean you still need to visit the area and activate them. To fast travel to a Floo Flame's location, simply open the map and select whichever flame you want to travel to.

Floo Flames on the world map are easy to spot but for those found within the walls of Hogwarts, you'll need to zoom in on a specific area to see the fast travel locations.

Hogwarts Legacy map

The Hogwarts Legacy map is huge. To the north, you'll find the Forbidden Forest and, while it's tempting to go exploring, be careful if you venture to the southern end of the map, especially if you're not far into the game, as the enemies are much tougher here.

From the very beginning, you can see the size of the map though only the name and shape of the area will be revealed until you zoom in on a region. This will give you more details, such as the locations of any Floo Flames you might want to visit and activate and the names of villages or settlements that are in the area.

Much like any other vast, open-world RPG, there are many points of interest to explore in and around Hogwarts. While some might show up on the in-game map to give you a heads-up about their location, many items don't such as Field Guide pages or Daedalian key locations. That's where the interactive map comes in, as it lets you toggle different items or quests on and off in the sidebar.

Of course, if you'd rather discover things naturally as you play, you might want to avoid the map for now. If you're a completionist intent on collecting absolutely everything, however, it's a handy reference to set you on the right path.

Hogwarts Legacy: How to Fast Travel

Given the sheer size of the titular school of witchcraft and wizardry, learning how to fast travel can save an awful lot of time in Hogwarts Legacy.

As fans of the Harry Potter franchise will know all too well, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a pretty big place. As such, getting around the castle in Hogwarts Legacy can be pretty tiresome, not to mention a little confusing due to its many winding corridors and its multi-leveled design. Thankfully, there is a way around this.

RELATED: Open-World Games That Improve When Ignoring Fast Travel

Following its introduction around the turn of the century, the fast travel mechanic has become a staple of open-world video games and is put to good use in Hogwarts Legacy . Players will unlock fast travel fairly early on in the game and will be able to use it to get from one side of the castle to the other in a matter of seconds

How to Unlock Fast Travel in Hogwarts Legacy

Players will unlock fast travel during the "Attend Your First Fay at Hogwarts" section of the game. After leaving their common room and meeting up with Professor Weasley, they'll eventually come to their first Floo Flames location, which will trigger the fast travel tutorial. It's all fairly straightforward, but for those having trouble, fast traveling in Hogwarts Legacy is as simple as opening up the map in the Wizard's Field Guide and selecting any of the previously visited Floo Flames Locations from the list.

How to Unlock New Fast Travel Points in Hogwarts Legacy

Unlocking new fast-travel locations in Hogwarts Legacy is as simple as walking past an undiscovered Floo Flames location. These are scattered right throughout Hogwarts, meaning that players will be unlocking them left, right, and center as they play through the main story and explore more of the castle. The game even lists undiscovered fast travel locations, meaning that players can get a pretty good idea of how much of an area they've explored just by looking at their field guide.

It's important to note that not all Floo Flames locations are available right away, with some hidden away behind locked doors. As players complete more main story quests and unlock new parts of the school though, they should have no trouble finding them all. Until then, there are Floo Flames locations outside near every key location. What's more, there are so many of them that the player's next objective will rarely be more than a minute or two from a fast travel point that they've already unlocked.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.

Hogwarts Legacy All Floo Flame Locations (Fast Travel Points)

February 9, 2023 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Hogwarts Legacy has 83 Floo Flame Locations (Fast Travel Points). Finding All Floo Flame Fast Travel Points unlocks the Floo Around the World trophy and achievement. They look like green flames on walls.

None of the Flames are missable. You can still get all of them after the story in free-roam. Two of them are gated behind story progress, “#27 – The Map Chamber” is unlocked during  Main Quest #18: Jackdaw’s Rest  and “#28 – Room of Requirement” is unlocked during  Main Quest #21: The Room of Requirement . All other Floo Flames can be found immediately as soon as you reach the open world. However, they are much faster to collect if you  unlock the Flying Broom first. This makes it faster to fly over the map.

To unlock a Floo Flame you simply need to walk near it. Being within a few meters/yards will suffice. All of them unlock a fast travel point and they are marked on the map by default. Undiscovered Floor Flames are grey on the map, discovered ones are green. This way you can easily tell what you are missing. The ones in the open world are revealed when unfogging the map area around them. You should unlock the Floo Flames as early as possible, being able to fast travel everywhere saves a lot of time.

In Hogwarts Castle you can either click on the flag-icons to open the castle sections or click the left sidebar in the map screen to quick select the floo flames. To travel back to The Map Chamber and Room of Requirement you can select “Secret Rooms” from the left side of the Hogwarts map screen, then pick those rooms.

How to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy

While you may not think Hogwarts itself would be a very large area, Hogwarts Legacy 's open world encompasses far more than just the titular castle. As soon as you set foot on campus and pop open your map, you'll soon realize just how vast a space there is to explore, as well as how long it will take to actually get around. Just like in the books, there are handy ways of getting around that are unavailable to us muggles. Fast travel is thankfully available very early on, so here's how you can utilize it to make sure you get to class on time.

What You Need

Discover Floo Flames

How to fast travel

Fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy is done through something called Floo Flames that you will encounter in the first mission of the game.

Step 1: Interact with your first Floo Flame during the main mission.

Step 2: As you explore the map, approach more Floo Flames around the map to activate them. You can spot them on the map via the green flame icon.

There's no shame in admitting that you enjoy the company of a teddy bear in Fallout 76 over the ghouls and mutants. In fact, we would probably prefer spending time finding these cuddly bears than playing with the other players, but these stuffed animals are a rare commodity in the wasteland. Technically, these are classified as a junk item that you can break down for materials, but who would do something like that? These are great display items to make your camp feel more like home, or just another annoying daily task you need to complete. Whatever your motivations are, here is where you can find each of the different teddy bear variations in Fallout 76. All teddy bear locations There are 12 different variations of teddy bears that all have a distinct color pattern, name, and value, but are otherwise identical. Like most items, they can be found in a ton of places around the map, but these are the easiest spots to get the one you're looking for. Bubblegum Bear

Each piece of Fallout 4 DLC adds something substantial to the base experience. In the case of the Automatron expansion, an entire new questline pitting you against a robot army led by a figure known as the Mechanist. Starting it isn't as difficult as starting other DLCs like the Nuka-World expansion, but it-s still a bit cryptic. Buying the DLC doesn't automatically make it apparent how to actually start this new adventure, but we'll give you specific directions to find it in the wasteland.

The first major DLC expansion for Fallout 4 lets players go to the abandoned amusement park called Nuka-World. While there's plenty of fun and excitement to be had here, don't expect it to come from the roller coasters or carnival games since this park is the battleground between rival raider gangs. This new zone adds a ton of new quests and side activities to the base experience, but it isn't as simple to get to as a real theme park. Don't worry if your Pip-Boy isn't helping you get to Nuka-World -- we'll show you how to start this DLC.

Hogwarts Legacy: How to fast travel using Floo Flames – Guide

Image of Jason Rodriguez

Hogwarts Legacy has a massive world where you get to visit familiar places from the Harry Potter novels and movies. Given that there are key regions to explore, you’ll need to make sure that you can reach areas speedily. Here’s our Hogwarts Legacy guide to help you fast travel using Floo Flames.

Note: For more information, check out our Hogwarts Legacy guides and features hub .

Hogwarts Legacy guide – Fast travel via Floo Flames

The Floo Flames fast travel mechanic in Hogwarts Legacy is introduced fairly early in the campaign. After the Sorting Ceremony, you’ll wake up and get ready for your first day as a student. You’ll then talk to your classmates before meeting Professor Weasley. She’ll teach you about Field Guide Pages, which are part of a collectible challenge. Continue to follow her and you’ll arrive at a corridor next to a Floo Flame. This will unlock your first fast travel point in the game.

The professor will then tell you to head to the Central Hall, another part of the castle. This, too, becomes unlocked, so make your way there. From here, you’re free to explore some parts of the castle, taking note of Floo Flame icons on your map. Green denotes that you’ve already tagged them and they’re available for use. Grey, meanwhile, implies that you’ve yet to interact with them or visit those places. These objects also have smaller arrows that either point up or down, symbolizing whether they’re on a higher or lower floor/section.

Fast travel is extremely important in Hogwarts Legacy . This is due to having three major regions (i.e., Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the Highlands), as well as other areas that you can go to. As such, making sure you’ve found various Floo Flames will speed up your campaign progression, exploration, and collectible hunting endeavors.

Your first few days on Hogwarts Legacy will likely see you exploring every inch of the world. Whether it be on foot or via your trusty broomstick, taking in the sights and sounds is a big part of the experience when diving in for the first time.

That being said, as the world slowly expands and you discover every corner of the map, you’re eventually going to want to get around quicker. Thankfully, in a world filled with magic, fast travel is a handy tool witches and wizards can use to get from one side of the map to another.

Floo Flames act as fast travel points, and once discovered, can be used to venture from one point to another, much like the Floo Network in the Harry Potter books. A tutorial prompt will introduce you to everything you need to know about fast travelling in Hogwarts Legacy .

As you explore Hogwarts and the surrounding world, you will unlock more Floo Flames. These can be used anytime outside missions and it’s as simple as loading up the map and selecting another point on the world map. You’ll instantly be transported there and be able to continue your adventure.

How to fast travel with Floo Flames in Hogwarts Legacy

Image of Aden Carter

Fast travel is one of the most common features in any game nowadays. This system allows you to teleport across the map to select areas so that you don’t need to waste your time running from one end of the map to the other. Hogwarts Legacy is one of the many games with a fast travel system, but this one comes in the form of Floo Flames. Those who have seen the movies probably remember when Harry traveled by Floo Powder. Similarly, without the giant fireplace, you too can travel quickly using Floo Flames. This guide will show you how to fast travel with Floo Flames in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy

The fast travel system is easy to unlock in Hogwarts Legacy. After reaching the castle, you will get a tour of the school, with one of the first stops being the Floo Flame near the house that you were sorted into at the start of the game. After reaching the Floo Flame, you will be taught how to use them by the professor. The first of the points that you will unlock is the Central Hall.

fast travel hogwarts legacy

To travel via the Floo Flame system, all you need to do is bring up your map. On PlayStation, this button defaults to the touchpad, but you can easily open the map by going to the menu and selecting the map option. Once the map is open, choose one of the sections of Hogwarts, and you will see all of the Floo Flame fast travel points you have unlocked. Unlocked fast travel points appear green, while locked ones appear black.

To unlock additional fast travel points, you will need to first discover them by traveling to where they are located. There is no need to interact with a Floo Flame to activate it; you simply need to get within its vicinity. Once a fast travel point has been unlocked, you can navigate to the menu and select it for fast travel from now on. Make sure you unlock the fast travel points each time you visit a new area, so you don’t have to waste time walking.

Hogwarts Legacy is a vast game, with lots of areas to explore and complete quests in.

Before you get to ride a mount or use a broom in the game, travel can feel quite time-consuming. This is especially true if you’re trying to get to far-away areas for lengthy side quests or treasure hunting.

Luckily, there’s a great fast travel system in the game that helps to make this a lot easier. Here’s a quick guide on how to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy with the Floo Flame system.

How to Unlock Fast Travel Locations

To fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll need to unlock Floo Flame locations around the map.

They’re represented by a fire icon on the map and can be found in a wide variety of areas.

Floo flames map

To unlock these locations, you’ll need to visit these areas on foot for the first time. This is usually quick and easy if you’re trying to fast travel somewhere in Hogwarts, but can be a bit of a trek if you’re trying to reach one of the more remote hamlets or castles.

You can track locked Floo Flame locations on your map to make it easier.

Make sure you stand in front of the Floo Flame location to unlock it. I made the mistake of thinking I’d unlocked them by flying past them, but had to go back and get them again as I was slightly out of reach.

Floo Flame Wall

Once you’ve unlocked them, though, you can access them at almost any point in the game and travel with them wherever you like.

If you’re unsure whether you’ve unlocked one, double check your map. Locked Floo Flame locations show up as gray, while accessible ones are green.

Floo flame world map

I found some Floo Flame were hidden by other icons on the map, so make sure to zoom in and double check unfamiliar zones.

How to Use Floo Flames

Accessing Floo Flame travel in Hogwarts Legacy is as simple as opening up the map. It’s one of the best fast travel systems I’ve seen in an open-world game by a mile.

Open up the main map and find the area you want to travel to. The map itself is split into three parts, which are:

  • The Hogwarts map
  • The Hogsmeade map
  • The world map

Each area has Floo Flames and you can fast travel between them with no issues. For example, you can travel from a Hogsmeade Floo Flame to a Hogwarts classroom easily.

There are also hidden zones in Hogwarts, which include the Map Chamber and the Room of Requirement . These zones also have Floo Flames, so you can travel to them easily.

Floo flame secret

Find the area that you want to travel to, and check you’ve unlocked the nearest Floo Flame.

Then, select the green flame icon. A loading screen will pop up instantly, taking your character to the desired location.

Floo flame loading screen

Make sure to use the map tracking features to your advantage if you’re traveling to complete a far-away quest or objective.

What to Do Next

If you’re looking for a way to save yourself time while traveling in Hogwarts Legacy, look into the different magical beasts that you can get in the game and get yourself a mount.

Riding a flying mount in the game feels very close to riding a broom, as the controls are almost identical and the animations are similar too.

If you’re hoping to track down treasures and collectibles while unlocking all of the Floo Flame locations, keep an eye out for chests and bags with Revelio. Even the most remote location in the game can play host to loot like the various wand handles or powerful gear.

Fast Travel & Floo Flame Locations – Hogwarts Legacy

Getting where you need to go by broom or hippogriff is certainly fun. But, sometimes you’ll want to get where you’re going instantly, and for that there are Floo Flames. Found throughout the game, Floo Flames are how you’ll you fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy. In this guide, we’ll list all the Floo Flame locations, and explain how to use them.

Note that this guide is a work in progress, and will be updated with more information as it becomes available, and once the game is released.

How to Fast Travel

We haven’t been given a look at the game’s map yet, but we’re assuming you’ll need to use it to select Floo Flames. Naturally, you won’t be able to fast travel to a place you haven’t been yet, but it should allow you to quickly return to many previous locations, assuming that you activated the Floo Flame there.

Floo Flames have to be discovered and activated before you can fast travel to them . This is done by simply walking close enough to one that the icon changes from grey to green. Floo Flames can be seen on walls or in alcoves — since they’re bright green, they tend to be hard to miss. Once you get close enough to one, its icon will appear; grey if you haven’t discovered it, green if it’s already active.

If it isn’t discovered yet, walk to discover the Floo Flame. You’ll receive a notification, and the icon will turn green. Pay attention to the name of the Floo Flame you’ve discovered — doing so will make it easier in case you want to return later.

Floo Flame Locations

This section will list for you all the different Floo Flame location on each main map, and in the case of the World Map, by each region. All the Floo Flame locations in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade will need to be discovered on foot because players can’t use brooms or mounts in those locations. Conversely, you will want to use brooms or mounts to quickly travel to new regions on the World Map to activate new Floo Flames.

You will visit most areas naturally as you do quests and explore, but some are out of the way and will require deliberate exploration.

Hogwarts legacy: where to get focus potion.

Players can use Hogwarts Legacy's Focus Potion to reduce spell cooldowns during combat. Here are the recipe ingredients locations for this potion.

Quick Links

Where to find ingredients for the focus potion recipe, how to use focus potions during combat.

By using Hogwarts Legacy’ s Focus Potion, you can reduce the cooldowns of all their spells, allowing them to unleash a wide variety of powerful spell combos. Potions are an extremely useful consumable in Hogwarts Legacy and have lots of different effects. Although many can be bought directly from Hogsmeade, you arguably benefit from being able to brew their own. To do this, they need to have unlocked the mysterious Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Castle in order to set up Herbology and Potion stations. This will allow you to grow certain potion ingredients and brew up potent elixirs to use in combat.

The Focus Potion recipe requires three ingredients: three Lacewing Flies , one Fluxweed Stem , and one Dugbog Tongue . Some of these can be found in the wizarding village of Hogsmeade, where you can buy the Focus Potion recipe and lots of potion ingredients directly from J. Pippin’s Potions. However, by tracking down these potion ingredients out in the open world, you can spend Galleons on other useful items such as spellcraft or a new broomsticks.

Hogwarts Legacy Guides: 5 Best Ways To Make Money In Hogwarts Legacy

Lacewing Flies are incredibly common and can be found all over the Hogwarts grounds, particularly along the path up to Hogsmeade from the castle. Tracking down lacewing flies isn’t particularly tricky. You should keep an eye out for bushes teeming with glowing insects on their travels.

Interacting with these bushes will cause a swarm of lacewing flies to fly away, allowing you to catch the flies for use in potions. Lacewing flies are among the most common potion ingredients in Hogwarts Legacy , and you won’t need to search too hard to find some.

Fluxweed Stem is rarer and must be grown in large planters in the Room of Requirement. To do this, you will need to travel to The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade, which sells seeds and some potion ingredients. To obtain Fluxweed stem, you will need to get Hogwarts Legacy 's Fluxweed seeds that can be planted and harvested.

It’s worth noting that you can get Fluxweed stem by buying it directly from The Magic Neep for 150 Galleons . However, although the seeds cost 350 Galleons, they will let you create a renewable, sustainable resource which is arguably a better investment.

Finally, to obtain a Dugbog Tongue in Hogwarts Legacy , you will have to track down and defeat Dugbogs, which appear in swampy areas . If you're just starting out in Hogwarts Legacy , you may not yet have obtained mounts or brooms to make traveling long distances easier.

If you don't have access to a broom or a mount yet, the best option is to head to the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame fast travel point.

After entering the forest, you should keep left until you reach a riverbank, where a great Spined Dugbog can be battled. Tracking down and fighting Dugbogs in Hogwarts Legacy can be tough, and you should be ready with the best offensive spells to take it down. If players are still unsure about each ingredient's exact location, they can always use this video by Loot&Lore on Youtube as a reference:

After gathering the ingredients, all you have to do is return to the Room of Requirement or the Potions Classroom and find a Potions station to brew the Focus Potion.

Focus Potions can be used by pulling up the Potions Wheel by holding Tab Button on PC or L1/LB on PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox consoles , respectively. While triggering the effects of Focus Potions is relatively easy, it is critical to know when to use them. Since the Focus Potion reduces cooldowns for most spells in Hogwarts Legacy , they are best used against foes such as Poachers, Ashwinders, Spiders, and challenging bosses.

You can use multiple potions at once, as the effects can stack and not cancel each other out.

It is also important to know whether the Focus Potion is active. When activated, you will notice a glow around your character, as seen in the image above. Once the glow dissipates, you can use another Focus Potion or a different potion from their inventory if needed.

Hogwarts Legacy Lifeless Paintings Guide

It's important to remember the ongoing controversial statements by the creator of the Harry Potter franchise. CBR supports the hard work of industry professionals on properties fans know and love, and the wider world of Harry Potter that fans have adopted as their own. You can find CBR's continuing coverage on J.K. Rowling here .

Of all the riddles in Avalanche Software's new title, Hogwarts Legacy , none is more mysterious than its lifeless paintings. These paintings begin as nothing more than an empty frame, but with a little legwork, players can bring them back to life and reap valuable rewards for their efforts. These quirky puzzles are pretty easy to solve, but it takes some time to find them all. However, players will want to get them, so they can fully complete Hogwarts Legacy. For information on how to solve the lifeless painting puzzles in general, here's a helpful guide.

The quest to solve every lifeless painting in Hogwarts Legacy begins upon speaking to Lenora Everleigh in Central Hall shortly after the game's introduction. The quest, cleverly titled "Like a Moth to a Frame," tasks players with first solving one painting as a tutorial of sorts. Then players are free to solve the others they discover as they play through Hogwarts Legacy . As there is a multitude of paintings scattered around the world of Legacy , here is a guide on where to find all 20 of them, both in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade and the moths that are needed to bring them back to life — which are usually a bit challenging to spot.

Updated on May 2, 2024, by Andrea Sandoval: Hogwarts Legacy is full of interesting puzzles and secrets that make the outstanding school feel magical and real. The lifeless paintings can be a bit challenging to find, but it's also fun to uncover the clever Easter eggs around the complex and majestic halls of the castle. We updated this article to include more information about how to solve Hogwarts Legacy's mysterious paintings as well as include CBR's new formatting style.

How To Solve The Lifeless Paintings In Hogwarts Legacy

  • Lumos is the very first spell players learn in Hogwarts Legacy. Professor Fig teaches it to them during the Path to Hogwarts quest, before the game officially begins.

Hogwarts Legacy: How to Solve All Hogwarts Secrets (& What It Gets You)

The lifeless paintings in Hogwarts Legacy are easier to solve than they are to find. Players will find the paintings throughout their adventures in several places around the school and Hogsmeade . The easiest way to get to them is using the spell Revelio, which highlights any puzzle or interactive element around the game with a blue halo. The paintings are recognizable for their particular oval-shaped form. Once players stumble upon one of them, they need to use the spell Lumos in front of the painting. This will reveal an image with the location of the moth that belongs to the painting.

Usually, the location is near the painting, but some moths are farther away than others, meaning players will have to do a bit of exploring. Revelio also works for finding the moths, but since they're small objects, players need to be close to them for it to work. What's more, they are not very perceptible, so players also have to pay a lot of attention to their surroundings. Once players find the moth, they simply have to use the spell Lumos. The moth will follow the player from then on, as long as they keep the spell activated. When players reach the lifeless painting with the moth, they just have to deactivate Lumos or use a basic attack. The moth will fly directly into the painting. The puzzle will permanently disappear and players will earn a field guide page.

Where To Find Every Lifeless Painting In Hogwarts

  • To learn Level 1 Alohomora, players will have to talk to Gladwin Moon to initiate the "The Caretakes Lunar Lament" quest and retrieve the Demiguise Statues.
  • To learn the Depulso spell, players have to complete Jackdaw's Rest quest, after which they have to complete Professor Sharp's first assignment, which will teach them the Depulso spell.

Hogwarts Legacy's Most Useful Spell (& How to Unlock It)

There are 15 lifeless paintings to find in Hogwarts, with only a few of them requiring the use of a Level 1 Alohomora spell to unlock the doors they lie behind. One painting does require the Depulso spell, however, so make sure you unlock it before attempting to locate every painting. Also, Revelio is extremely helpful in finding them, as it highlights their exact locations. Here are all 15 of Hogwarts' lifeless paintings, where to find them, and where to find their moths.

Where To Find Every Lifeless Painting In Hogsmeade

Hogwarts legacy: 10 best puzzles.

While there are 15 paintings you can find in Hogwarts, there are only five in Hogsmeade. Fortunately, though, these are all the lifeless paintings in the game. Players don't have to worry about finding other painting puzzles in the Highlands or any other location. These don't require any special spells, but Revelio is helpful in highlighting their locations, as always. Here are all five of Hogsmeade's lifeless paintings, where to find them, and where to find their moths as well.

Russia establishes special site to fabricate fuel for China’s CFR-600

!{Model.Description}

A special production site to fabricate fuel for China’s CFR-600 fast reactor under construction has been established at Russia’s Mashinostroitelny Zavod (MSZ - Machine-Building Plant) in Elektrostal (Moscow region), part of Rosatom’s TVEL Fuel Company.

As part of the project, MSZ had upgraded existing facilities fo the production of fuel for fast reactors, TVEL said on 3 March. Unique equipment has been created and installed, and dummy CFR-600 fuel assemblies have already been manufactured for testing.

The new production site was set up to service an export contract between TVEL and the Chinese company CNLY (part of China National Nuclear Corporation - CNNC) for the supply of uranium fuel for CFR-600 reactors. Construction of the first CFR-600 unit started in Xiapu County, in China's Fujian province in late 2017 followed by the second unit in December 2020. The contract is for the start-up fuel load, as well as refuelling for the first seven years. The start of deliveries is scheduled for 2023.

“The Russian nuclear industry has a unique 40 years of experience in operating fast reactors, as well as in the production of fuel for such facilities,” said TVEL President Natalya Nikipelova. “The Fuel Division of Rosatom is fulfilling its obligations within the framework of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the development of fast reactor technologies. These are unique projects when foreign design fuel is produced in Russia. Since 2010, the first Chinese fast neutron reactor CEFR has been operating on fuel manufactured at the Machine-Building Plant, and for the supply of CFR-600 fuel, a team of specialists from MSZ and TVEL has successfully completed a complex high-tech project to modernise production,” she explained.

A special feature of the new section is its versatility: this equipment will be used to produce fuel intended for both the Chinese CFR-600 and CEFR reactors and the Russian BN-600 reactor of the Beloyarsk NPP. In the near future, the production of standard products for the BN-600 will begin.

The contract for the supply of fuel for the CFR-600 was signed in December 2018 as part of a governmental agreement between Russia and China on cooperation in the construction and operation of a demonstration fast neutron reactor in China. This is part of a wider comprehensive programme of cooperation in the nuclear energy sector over the coming decades. This includes serial construction of the latest Russian NPP power units with generation 3+ VVER-1200 reactors at two sites in China (Tianwan and Xudabao NPPs). A package of intergovernmental documents and framework contracts for these projects was signed in 2018 during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

A Russian Hogwarts: Ded Moroz School opens in Moscow

fast travel hogwarts legacy

The Moscow City Centre for Children’s Arts has turned into Ded Moroz School for a month.  Ded Moroz is a Russian fictional character, similar to Santa Claus, who brings presents to children on New Year’s Eve. Film and stage directors, make-up artists, actors, composers, psychologists teach the students to pull the Ded Moroz look with confidence, to talk to kids.  Students will finish their training with exams, after which they will receive certificates in New Year events management from the Moscow Institute of Open Learning.

Actors playing Ded Moroz are in great demand over the festival , which lasts until the Russian Christmas (celebrated on January 7) is over. Companies hire them to entertain their employees or promote products. Despite the opportunity to earn good money, the spirit of goodwill lives on with Ded Moroz. Some people work for free.
