A lot of Osprey’s gear make it across our desks, and if we had to summarize them, it’d be that they’re very capable daily carries. They have a ton of straps, pockets, and even specialized features like their LidLock bike helmet attachment system. They’re helpful features for sure, but sometimes we want something simple. Minding which pocket is in charge of what gear or which of the many straps to adjust can be a slight pain.

Osprey’s Daylite Carry-On Travel Pack 44 gets the memo. Its suitcase-style main compartment is spacious and easy to pack. Granted, there are not a ton of pockets to get things organized, but it has just enough for a simple vacation packing list . Its biggest drawback is its detachable shoulder straps, which are finicky and occasionally uncouple from their attachment points. Still, it maintains a very functional vibe Osprey is known for, so let’s see how well it fares.

Materials & Aesthetic

Like most Osprey gear, the Daylite Carry-On manages to pull off a clean design that’s also functional. There are a lot of seams around the bag, but it’s all well placed. For example, the compression straps flow and join towards the front of the bag. Other bags would be content with just having them directly stitched to the sides, but Osprey’s made an effort to make them part of the aesthetic.

If you’ve been following our reviews of Osprey’s other bags, you’ll notice that the Daylite Carry-On is overall less strap-y. Compared to the Nova and the METRON , this bag’s easier to tame in terms of straps. As such, the lack of any strap keepers is less of an issue here, both aesthetically and functionally.

The usual Pack Hacker choice of colorway is, of course, black. Black just goes well with anything we can think of (yes, even that banana Halloween costume that’s in the back of your mind). If black is not your thing, there are two other options to choose from. At the time of writing, there’s Wave Blue and Night Arches Green. We think the latter option is pretty eye-catching. Its two-tone design and oil painting-like pattern certainly lend it a classy persona.

The Daylite Carry-On uses two different deniers of DWR-coated (durable water repellent) polyester for its construction. The main sections are made up of 300-denier polyester, while the accents and the bottom are 600-denier. This makes sense, given that the bottom of a bag deals with a lot more abrasion. However, the overall structure feels floppy. Do note that a floppy structure doesn’t necessarily mean sloppy quality.

Osprey’s gear typically has an excellent build quality, and the Daylite Carry-On is no exception. There are no loose threads, nor have any of the respectable YKK-branded zippers jammed on us. The hardware (buckles, clips, adjusters, etc.) worked smoothly, but we do have some gripes with them.

External Components

The bread and butter of any good backpack are its shoulder straps, and that goes double for a travel backpack. The weight of a fully-packed 44-liter bag requires some serious support. The good news is that the Daylite Carry-On’s shoulder straps are spongy and dense enough to cushion the weight. Their top sections are even ventilated with mesh and triangle cutouts for good measure.

The sternum strap is mounted on rails, allowing it to slide and giving it a very granular degree of adjustment. While this may be our favorite kind of sternum strap, this particular one does have its weakness. More specifically, the strap itself feels a bit slippery and loose, so it easily readjusts even with just a slight tug. Fortunately, this looseness isn’t shared with the shoulder straps’ adjusters.

Silver lining: the sternum strap has a built-in whistle in case you need to call someone’s attention. This is a feature more typically seen with outdoor adventure backpacks for safety reasons. While the Daylite Carry-On may not be the ideal outdoor backpack, its inclusion is appreciated.

The shoulder straps are detachable via swivel snap hook clips. On paper, this is a good idea because you can stow the straps behind the back panel when you don’t need them (there’s a pouch inside to catch them, too). This avoids those awkwardly dangling straps when you’re trying to put the bag in an overhead bin or sliding it across a car’s trunk. However, based on our experience, the clips used for this feature can disengage unintentionally.

In the case of the Daylite Carry-On, this happened on three separate occasions within two weeks of testing: Once while trying to wear it, once while trying to pick it up, and once while packing it up. Needless to say, it’s far from ideal, especially when you consider that those three scenarios encompass what you generally do with a backpack. In a somewhat ironic twist, the clips themselves are tricky to disengage deliberately because the loops they’re mounted to are relatively small, and the fabric can get caught up in the clip.

The back panel features Osprey’s very breathable AirScape design. Underneath the layer of mesh fabric is a fairly rigid panel that has a set of cutouts to further aid airflow. Still, these aids won’t necessarily stop you from sweating, especially during summer, so keep that in mind.

Side note: The back panel also acts as a vertical luggage pass-through apart from being the shoulder straps’ stowage area.

The Daylite Carry-On’s fit is relatively comfortable considering that it only has the basics to work with. Unintended disengagements aside, the shoulder straps do a good job supporting the weight on our shoulders, even when fully packed out.

How packed up the Daylite Carry-On also affects how it carries. When empty, the bag’s structure feels notably floppy, which is understandable given the size. Conversely, once we load it up with gear and have both compression straps tightened, the bag gains decent structure, which improves carry comfort.

The most noteworthy omission from the harness system is a hip belt. There’s no built-in hip belt, nor are there attachment points to add one. We think this is a missed opportunity. 35 liters is about the size we feel a hip belt is helpful. 44 liters is well beyond that threshold. The shoulder straps work, but a hip belt would do wonders when carrying the bag for more extended periods.

As secondary means of carrying, the Daylite Carry-On has a total of three handles. There’s a bottom handle at the front for pulling the bag out of overhead bins, or it can be used as an attachment point for something like a bike light.

The top handle is well-padded with a textured underside for extra grip. It’s soft and comfortable to hold, considering it’s supporting a 44-liter backpack. Meanwhile, we’re less happy with the side handle because of its positioning. It’s located further towards the back, and that makes it somewhat unbalanced; in other words, not the ideal backpack to carry briefcase-style.

Last but not least are the twin water bottle pockets. These use simple stretchy mesh to grip bottles with no additional hardware like buckles or zippers. Our 32-ounce Nalgene Wide Mouth Tritan fits pretty securely, though we typically thread the compression strap through the handle just to make sure it stays put. The mesh has a harder time gripping slicker and slimmer bottles like our 18-ounce Hydro Flask . They won’t fly out during regular use, but they certainly can if the bag is flipped upside down or jostled around in transit.

Inside The Backpack

The first of the pockets—aside from the water bottle pockets—is the top quick-grab pocket. It has a wide horseshoe-style opening that goes about halfway down the sides of the bag.

Inside, you get two pen pockets flanked by two passport-sized pockets and a key strap. All of them use stretchy mesh material. The free-floating space is enough for a large power bank, but anything bulkier is best put away in the next pocket. Spoiler alert: this pocket carries the majority of the bag’s organization. The rest of the compartments are empty spaces with minimal means of organization.

Below the top pocket you’ll find another pocket for bulkier, quick-stash items. If you can’t see it, that’s because the pocket’s opening is well-hidden by a fabric gusset. Despite the gusset, accessibility is relatively quick. It’s a good spot for stashing toiletries that you may need to take out quickly while going through airport security.

We were able to fit our Aer Slim Pouch inside, so space really isn’t much of a problem with this pocket. As we said earlier, organization doesn’t get very granular with this bag, so we do recommend using pouches like tech kits and toiletry bags.

The Daylite Carry-On’s main draw is arguably the suitcase-style opening. For those of you wondering, it’s a similar design to that of a clamshell opening; only the hinge is at the side, butterfly style. Either way, it does make for a more straightforward packing process since you can really open it up to reveal the buck-like space.

Mind you, it won’t be as easy to open for mischievous people who want to get in the bag. The zippers here are lockable, so you have the option to put on your own TSA-approved lock.

It gets better. While a lot of travel backpacks feature a bucket-style main compartment, they sometimes don’t have built-in tie-down straps. Now, this isn’t an issue if you use packing cubes to organize your clothing like us. However, tie-down straps are a must-have for those who put their clothes directly to prevent them from sloshing around in transit. Oh, and if you use the tie-down straps with packing cubes (and you really cinch the compression straps), it makes for a very stable load.

On the opposite side of the main compartment (the lid side) is a large mesh pocket. This is really the only built-in means of organization. You can see some stitching inside, but those are just for the mesh dividers in the top pocket from before. That’s okay because it leaves us with plenty of space to use as a dump pocket for our socks, gloves, and foldable hat. This mesh pocket is basically where smaller clothing and accessories go.

Last but not least is the 16-inch laptop compartment. There’s not much to say about this one, but that’s okay—it gets the job done. The most noteworthy aspect of this compartment is the amount of false bottom it has.

There are about two inches worth of space and padding starting from the compartment’s floor down towards the edge of the bag’s bottom. We’re usually satisfied with just one inch, but two is a lot better for peace of mind. We’ve seen backpacks with no cushioning whatsoever, requiring us to use a dedicated laptop sleeve for protection, so we’re not taking it for granted here.

The Daylite Carry-On’s strengths lie in its simple and lightweight design. The minimal amount of organization could be seen as a weakness, but it works well for those wanting big open spaces for packing cubes and pouches. There aren’t 100 internal pockets we need to think about how to fill—it just has enough to get us through.

Osprey Transporter Carry-On 44 Luggage Review

Back at the beginning of 2019, I thought Osprey had changed the game with the Osprey Rolling Transporter range. If you’ve been keeping one eye on the blog or my Instagram account, you’ll know I’ve been a huge fan of the Transporter range of packs since they first came to market. And every season, Osprey never disappoint taking the bags to another level. And that they have done… again, with the Transporter Carry-On 44 .

The Go-To Choice For Serious Carry-On Travellers

On the face of it, the Transporter Carry-On 44 looks pretty much exactly the same as the first Transporter model but if you look close enough you will see the differences. Other than when I travel to the Caribbean, I’m hand luggage only so having the right bag is key.

The Osprey Transporter Carry-On 44 has clamshell opening (like a regular suitcase) and is essentially divided into two sections upon opening. On the outside of the pack there is access to an (annoying, let’s be honest) J-zip front panel compartment.

It is however packed full of organisation pockets to hold everything from pens to paperwork or magazines. You can also find direct access to the laptop and tablet sleeve with an additional RFID blocking pockets and a shoe compartment (which is internal, but accused externally and protects your clothes from the shoes).

The pack comes with two carry handles, a shoulder strap and backpack harness carry straps which stow away in their own pocket.

It was only when I took the images for this post that I discovered the waist straps (doh!) which made me realise how much more comfortable carrying the bag as a backpack would have been had I have thought to look for them.

And just now, I learnt that the chest (sternum) strap has an emergency whistle built into it. Osprey have literally thought of everything!

What & How I Packed

I took this pack with me to Cyprus in October for a 6 night break. I flew British Airways on a hand luggage only basis. British Airways allow you a small handbag/laptop bag and then 1 additional cabin bag (max. 23kg / 51lb and up to 56 x 45 x 25cm / 22 x 18 x 10in).

According to the Osprey website the carry-on 44 has maximum dimensions of (cm): 56 (l) x 35 (w) x 31 (d) …which technically means it’s too big right?! However, I think the saving grace is that the pack is squishy so the depth really depends on how much stuff you put in it.

I found the best way to pack with this bag was to roll clothing in the side with no compression straps and wrap bottles etc in the rolled up clothing. I also put my footwear and make up / toiletries bag in the side.

On the side with the compression strap, I folded clothes as per normal. In addition to the compression straps, this side also has a full zipped mesh partitioning so when you open the bag, everything stays where it should be. I didn’t need any packing cubes * using this bag (but they could still come in super handy if you’re feeling super organised).

I’ve also used Transporter Carry-On for an overnight stay; the compression straps allow for the bag not being packed full, keeping everything in place. I’m 100% sure this will be my go to pack for any trip with hand luggage only allowance.

Transporter Global Carry-On 36

This is probably a good point to mention that the Transporter Carry-On has two versions. The 44litre reviewed in this post and then the 36litre. The Transporter Global Carry-On (36L) is the same rectangular shape as the 44 and boasts many of the same features. The main differences are that it is a tinier bit lighter (at 1.33 kg) than the 44, has smaller dimensions (50cm (l) x 34cm (w) x 27cm (d)) and doesn’t have the backpack straps.

The Carry-On vs The Duffel

The Transporter Duffel was the first iteration of this series of travel packs. It comprises of one large compartment with compression straps that can be used to keep everything in place. It’s the perfect “throw everything in” bag and has slightly smaller dimensions than the Carry-On Transporter.

The Carry-On vs The Rolling Transporter

The Rolling Transporter is much more similar to the Transporter Duffel than it is to the Carry-On. It’s pretty much the Duffel on wheels, with the same large compartment and compression straps. The wheels are super useful though for making it even easier to get around.

 I travelled on EasyJet no problem with this case however, some airlines (I’m looking at you RyanAir) have severely restricted dimensions that this case would not fit, unless you have Priority Boarding from RyanAir to take it in the cabin or check it into the hold.

The Carry-On Transporter 44 Unisex Travel Pack In Detail

Empty, the pack weighs just 1.54 kg leaving plenty of your allowance for your travels. Although I travelled on BA with this pack, I would advise caution if you need to ram it full. One thing I’ve noticed is that when you wear your luggage as a back pack, the airline scrutinise it less.

I think it’s simply down to the fact it’s on your back and they just don’t notice it. I am however confident that the way I packed it, it would have squeezed into the boxes they use to test sizes.

If you do decide (or need) to check in your carry-on 44 though, the zippers are lockable so you’re able to keep your stuff secure.

We’re looking to replace our tired, tatty carry on suitcases and are really keen for a backpack this time. The Osprey Transporter was definitely the front runner until I read through the features list on the official Osprey American website.

Down at the bottom of the features page there is a little yellow warning triangle ⚠️ and a message stating the product contains traces of Dimethylfumarate. It goes on to state that this substance may have a link to cancer. Worth a look and a google if you haven’t already.

As I’m not based in the US I am unable to see the US Osprey site, so I reached out to them directly to be able to understand fully. The warning that you are seeing is only visible in the US as Californian law requires Osprey to state this on every product on the website. This isn’t a requirement or acknowledged as harmful in any European countries, or any other US states.

The transporter range is my all time favourite so it’s a shame you won’t be getting one too! However, Osprey have told me that they will be changing the fabric they use on this pack in Fall 2021 so the message won’t feature anywhere from then on.

lol depends what you define as short! It worked well for me for a week long trip and prob could fit more / I didn’t wear everything 🙂

There's a reason why Osprey has such a good reputation within the outdoor community: it makes luggage solutions that seem to just work perfectly for whatever situation you need to carry your kit.

Case in point the new Osprey Transporter Carry-on 44. Whilst not aimed specifically at cyclists what it does offer is a bag packed with features that make it almost perfect for the travelling rider to use on a long weekend or, as it's name implies, as airline carry-on.

Unlike a hardcase carry-on the Transporter allows you to really cram in the kit and at times it feels almost tardis like in its capacity to swallow almost as much as you dare put in it.

A clamshell design splits the storage into two large zipped compartments, one of which has extra clothing straps inside to compress and keep your casual clothing neat and ordered. Two large mesh pockets on the lid of one compartment easily fit toiletries or other smaller items.

The front of the Transporter also has a large compartment with several smaller organiser pockets to keep your electronics and other travel essentials in order. At the rear a large padded laptop sleeve also incorporate a RFID protective pocket to stop thieves scanning your cards. Finishing off the storage there's also a bellows pocket at the top to put readily accessible items. The only thing missing is a mesh water bottle pocket, something I find essential when travelling.

The whole bag is constructed using hardwearing and water resistant 400D Nylon. It's held up well to a few months of abuse with very little damage despite being through several airports, plane holds and sliding around in the back of vans. If there was one area of concern it would be that there are no reinforcements at the corners of the bag and as such these are starting to look a little scuffed in places.

Whilst it lacks the ability to wheel it around like many carry-on style bags the Transporter has a trick up it's sleeve, well up its back really, in the shape of stowaway rucsac straps. These are properly padded and also incorporate a chest and waist strap to make it comfortable to wear for longer jaunts. When not needed it all stuffs in a pocket giving the bag a clean profile.

I continue to be impressed with the capabilities of this bag and due to the frequent travelling I'm fortunate to do as part of my job it has become a faithful companion. I'm able to carry my usual kit list for a typical bike launch with ease and that is no easy task as it normally includes: helmet , shoes , pedals , at least two sets of weather appropriate kit, wet weather gear, warmers, glasses, cameras, laptop, chargers, casual clothing, jacket plus more.

Hole in bridge closes eastbound I-44 in Laclede County

UPDATE 2:00 PM – The left lane of eastbound I-44 is open, according to MoDOT.

Original Story:

LACLEDE COUNTY, Mo. — Eastbound Interstate 44 is closed in Laclede County on Sunday morning due to a hole in the bridge at mile marker 143 near Stoutland.

Traffic is being diverted at Exit 140 as MoDOT evaluates the 4 1/2 x 2 hole in the bridge.

Missouri State Highway Patrol says MoDOT will attempt a lane drop that would open up one lane to traffic. If they can’t, traffic will continue to be diverted and eastbound I-44 will be closed for another six hours.

Ozarksfirst will update this story when we receive more information.

We consulted experts in travel from Fora, a modern travel agency , who have helped several clients meet and fulfill their solo travel aspirations. We also considered recommendations from our Good Housekeeping team, which has been evaluating destinations worldwide for the Family Travel Awards . Together, we've compiled this list of tried-and-true solo travel destinations for women.

If you’re still a little concerned about safety while navigating these cities on your own, not to worry because we also checked the Institute for Economics and Peace's 2023 Global Peace Index , which vets each country to measure their "peacefulness" as well as the U.S. Department of State's travel advisories .

As always, when traveling alone you should carry out your own research on each destination and take proper precautions to keep yourself safe. Otherwise, happy travels!

Iceland tops the Global Peace Index for the most peaceful country in the world. Even the U.S. government notes that Iceland has a " low crime rate ." It also lends itself to adventure lovers with its many natural attractions. Top nature destinations include Black Sand Beach, Ring Road, Blue Lagoon, ice caps, and steaming geysers. Just make sure to enjoy some time in the beautiful city of Reykjavik , as well.

TIP: Get more of a feel for the local culture by looking to residents as resources. "Iceland is an extremely safe country with very friendly locals who love sharing information about their beautiful country with visitors," Fora Advisor Kara Kassuba told Good Housekeeping. "During your time there, you’ll likely meet many people and find yourself engaged in interesting conversations with non-stop learning opportunities."

Denmark is well known for its stunning castles, vibrant towns and villages, as well as famous natural-occurring attractions. The country is also vetted as safe and secure, ranking second on the 2023 Global Peace Index .

GH Staffer Emma Seymour recently traveled to Copenhagen on her own and expressed that the destination was ideal for biking and had a ton of great restaurants and shops. " I biked everywhere and it was really easy to rent bikes (there are a bunch of bikes just lying around that you can use with an app!)," she said. "I highly recommend biking through Christiania and eating at the vegan restaurants there. It can feel awkward to embrace going to bars or restaurants alone, but it's the best way to see a city."

TIP: Consider staying in a hostel for added security and the opportunity to connect with other travelers. "I stayed at Steel House hostel , which was so fun," Seymour said. "I had a private room that was small, but perfectly organized. The hostel had a ton of social events too and was very family friendly. It felt super safe."

The key to solo travel in Mexico is to pick cities that are easy to navigate and welcoming to tourists. Fora Advisor Caryn Ruocco suggests Mexico City, Mexico. "The city is safe, especially in neighborhoods like Roma, Condesa and Polanco," she told Good Housekeeping, noting that "these areas are particularly well-patrolled." The city is also very walkable and offers an impressive art scene for those looking to immerse themselves in Mexican culture. Another Mexican city solo travelers should add to their list for its warm and fun energy? Sayulita.

TIP: Treat your resort as a home base for your activities and travel. "You should treat yourself to a little R&R at a resort after a solo adventure and end your time with a stop at Susurros de Corazón or Four Seasons Punta Mita to treat yourself to a night in luxury and a visit to the spa,” Ruehl said.

It's hard to beat the beauty of Ireland. The U.S. government notes that the country has a "low rate of violent crime" so traveling on your own should feel secure and comfortable. GH staffer Kaitlyn Phoenix took one of her first solo vacations to the country, noting that it is a must-visit. “The people in Ireland were super welcoming. I was young and trying to save money at the time so mostly stayed at bed and breakfasts, but I splurged for a night in Ballyseede Castle and loved it so much,” Phoenix said.

GH staffer Stephanie Dolgoff also loved how easy it was to get around Dublin on her own."I stayed at a tiny, cheap little place called Parkway Guesthouse . Very spare but cute and nice and the proprietor was a lovely, helpful guy," Dolgoff said. "Dublin is a walkable place and I could get most anywhere on foot from there, although it wasn’t directly in one of the trendy neighborhoods."

Phoenix also noted that Ireland has no shortage of outdoor attractions. " The Cliffs of Moher are a must-see if you’re in Ireland," she said. "If you’re into nature walks and gardens, the Blarney Castle grounds are nice to explore so it’s not just about kissing the Blarney Stone."

TIP: If you opt to rent a car in Ireland "keep in mind that in addition to driving on the left side of the road, you’ll have to navigate a lot of one-lane roads (like the Conor Pass) where you have to pull over if another car comes by from the opposite direction," Phoenix said.

As if the beaches, architecture and food were not already a major draw, Spain ranks in the top 35 on the 2023 Global Peace Index , making it one of the countries in the world that has maintained peace over the last year. Solo travelers will enjoy the country's diverse terrain, offering walkable cities, vast deserts and calming countrysides.

TIP: Enjoy tapas for one sitting barside or enjoy street food in a nearby park as an easy way to meet others.

Though Hawaii may often get overlooked for solo travel due to its reputation as a romantic or family destination, the island of Hawaiʻi (you might know it as The Big Island) is definitely worth a visit. Whether you spend time on the Kona side filled with resorts or the tropical and lush Hilo side, you'll get to experience the beauty of the diverse landscape. Musts on the to-do list include the volcano park, horseback riding, and swimming at night with the manta rays, says Fora Advisor Melissa Friedman-Levine .

TIP: If you want to travel with a four-legged friend, book your stay at Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club , which allows all sizes of dogs without any pet fee. Seattle, Washington

You might actually be sleepless in Seattle — just because there's so much to do. Solo travelers will feel right at home in Pike Place Market , where they can grab breakfast and lunch from one of the many stands, and pick up gifts and unique souvenirs. Pike Place Market is also home to Golden Age Collectables, the oldest comic book store.

In a nearby area of the city is a different collection of attractions to see. "I was surprised that The Museum of Glass , Museum of Pop Culture , and the Space Needle neighbor each other. So, plan to spend the day visiting all three," said Karen Cicero , Contributing Travel Editor.

Another tip? "Take an excursion for the day or overnight to Olympic National Park, which has a lake, rainforest and rugged coastline," Cicero added.

Another GH staffer, Amanda Constantine , said "one of the best things about Seattle is the coffee culture, which is also perfect for solo travel!" She noted that the shops can easily be found on most corners and she tried more than a few. "Some of my favorites were the original Starbucks, Victrola Coffee Roasters and Analog."

TIP: July and August are the least rainy months to visit while November and December are the wettest. "I visited last July and there wasn't a drop of rain and the temperatures were in the 70s — it was perfection," said Cicero.

Boasting over 1,200 islands, Croatia is the perfect destination for anyone who loves sailing or outdoor water activities. Its coastal cities also feature gorgeous cobblestone streets, adorable cafés and artisan boutiques. If that isn't enough, the country's low crime rate also makes it an amazing option for solo travel.

TIP: Game of Thrones fans will want to check out Dubrovnik, where several of the scenes from the series were shot. There are also tons of options for Game of Thrones tours where travelers can visit film sites and learn more about what went on behind the scenes.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Believe it or not, the Big Easy has tons to offer solo travelers. Take your pick from jamming to live entertainment on The French Quarter, visiting plenty of historical sites, and indulging in excellent cajun and creole cuisine. Exploring the quarter, filled with live music, is the way to do it. You'll also want to get tickets to Preservation Hall , which is home to classic New Orleans jazz music. Other notable stops for wandering include the Garden District for home tours, Magazine Street for restaurants and shops, and the Arts + Warehouse District , which features the Ogden Museum for Southern Art and a variety of interesting local galleries on Julia Street.

TIP: Book a dinner at Mosquito Supper Club or Dakar Nola , which both have shared tables. "As a solo diner I’ve always had an interesting evening with my paired dining partners,” Kassuba said.

You may come for the hot springs, festivals and breathtaking landscape, but you'll want to stay for the variety of places to shop and dine. Taiwan's diverse offerings make it the ideal location for solo exploration.

TIP : Stop by the night markets for affordable and delicious cuisine. Linjiang Street (Tonghua) Night Market has been said by reviewers to have plenty of options, but be sure to have cash on hand as not all vendors will take card.

If you're looking for a destination that is as culturally and spiritually rich as it is beautiful, Cambodia is a great place to go. Your money will also go a long way as one US dollar is equal to about 4,100 Cambodian riel. Some highlights of Cambodia include gorgeous temples, eclectic and diverse cities, relaxing beaches, and luxury hotels.

TIP: Make sure to visit the spectacular temples of Angkor Wat , which Fora Advisor Alexandra Hepworth described as "a sight to behold."

Washington, DC

If you're traveling solo for the first time, DC is your ticket to fun. It's easy to access by train or plane, depending on where you're coming from and it has an easy-to-navigate public transportation system. Many museums and historical sites are free to enter, so there's no pressure to stay for hours. That means you can hop from the gemstone exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History to the remarkable collections at the National Portrait Gallery all in one day — and still have time to grab lunch from one of the food trucks near the National Mall. "Be sure to make it over to the Georgetown neighborhood during your trip," suggested Cicero. "You'll find wonderful restaurants with many types of cuisine plus cute one-of-a-kind shops and coffee bars. There's even a cat cafe!"

TIP: Even though the attractions are free, you need to make reservations in advance to enter; it's easy to do through the websites.

For a beachside vacation, Costa Rica is just the place to go. Not only does it have clear blue waters, but you can also visit a national park or conservation areas. Costa Rica is also a less expensive alternative to some European cities, but is just as easy to get around.

TIP: Join in on group activities. The town of Santa Teresa "attracts a lot of solo travelers and digital nomads, so it's easy to meet people," according to Fora Advisor Ronit Margolis . "It has a vibrant food scene, with plenty of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal alone or with new friends. You will feel a strong sense of community as everyone is so friendly."

Rwanda is one of a few countries that are in the blue zone on the U.S. government's website , meaning you can exercise "normal" precautions when traveling. You'll have a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the African country as you can plan to see incredible wildlife in their many National Parks.

TIP: Beyond experiencing the great outdoors, learn a bit about the history and culture by exploring the Kigali Genocide Memorial and multiple art galleries .
