where should I travel quiz

Are you already starting to count down the days of your vacation? You’re excited about starting your holiday break, but unfortunately, you still don’t know where exactly you should go. In this ‘Where should I travel quiz,’ we will help you choose a convenient place! The solution to the nagging question will also be given to those planning a spontaneous trip. You will find out where you should travel this time by answering the questions! The world is so vast that we will find the perfect location to meet your travel requirements! With this quiz, you won’t have to put in extra effort to plan your vacation!

Several very important elements need to be determined before any trip. We’ll touch on each of them briefly so you’ll know exactly how you want your trip to go!

Answer A Few Quiz Questions To Know Where You Should Travel

To begin with, you need to consider what mode of transportation you would like to travel by. You have many options to choose from. It can be by bus, train, car, ship, or plane.

Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. Suppose you want to be able to enjoy great views while on the road, bet on the bus or train. Passing through various terrains, you will have time to admire the magnificent landscapes and smaller and more major towns, and at the same time, you will have time for incredible relaxation. This form of travel is much cheaper than traveling by car.

If you care about time, traveling by car will be ideal. In this form of transportation, it is a good idea to have a substitute to replace you while driving, if necessary. A distant trip can prove quite tiring, so a break from driving may do you good!

An airplane is the fastest form of transportation; with it, distant destinations turn out to be within reach! You have to reckon with the fact that the cost will undoubtedly be much higher than when using other means of transportation. For this, the views during the trip are sure to be stunning! So where should you travel?

Before  choosing a travel destination , decide whether you are going exclusively alone, with a partner, friends, or family. Each of these trips will be different from the others. It would be best if you were careful when choosing a location to match it to the nature of the trip properly. Are you looking for a place to settle down in retirement, or are you more interested in a few days’ trip? If you have a blissful retirement getaway in mind, try our  Where Should I Retire Quiz .

If you are going for two, it might be a good idea to stay in a lovely place by a lake, where you can go for romantic walks. It is also possible that you are quite a partying couple and it will suit you better to relax in a big city, where there are always some attractions.

Now we will suggest where to go for a family trip. The best idea will be a quiet town by the sea. Depending on your plans, some of you will be able to spend your time basking on the beach by the sea itself, and the rest of you can take advantage of the opportunities the city offers. Do you already know where you should travel? If you are still wondering, don’t worry about anything! We will soon dispel all your doubts! There are so many places where you are sure to find something for yourself.

On the other hand, if you have decided to travel alone this time, perhaps a trip to the mountains would be ideal! Do you think you should travel there? The beautiful views you can observe from the mountain peaks will ideally reward you for the not-easy way uphill. During such a trip, you can think about various issues that do not give you peace on a daily basis and look at them from a distance. It is a great form of relaxation!

Where Should I Travel?

Now you are ready to take a quiz to answer the question, where should you travel? You will discover where you should travel this time by meticulously answering each question. Will it be the mountains or the sea? Or maybe a place that includes 2-in-1? Perhaps a round trip will suit you better? Take this  travel quiz  and find out what will be best for you!

It’s funny because Spain is my favorite country in the world I go there almost every weekend!! I enjoyed the Quiz.

Travel quizzes are such fun! According to this I’m supposed to be headed off to the wilds of Africa! I’ve only been there once and for way too short of a time. I’d love to see more. Maybe I should take the quiz’ advice?

OMG! Loved this quiz! I got Japan and that is one of my favorite destinations so the quiz was spot on! MY daughter loves Japan too as she loves Japanese cuisine and could seriously have sushi train every single day and its so catered for kids with all their cute toys.

Whoooo i got Namibia. I have never been anywhere in Africa. Maybe this is a sign a should consider it has my next trip 😉 Thanks fpr this fun quiz

Wow, I took the quiz, and it was fantastic. I should travel to Namibia according the result, but I don’t where was this place exactly located in the Map. It actually gets me curious and I should have a further research about Namibia and hopefully I can get there soon, If I get the chance. This is so cool actually, I find it very impressive. Thank you so much for this.

That was a fun quiz. I would never have thought of Kazakhstan for us but it isn’t bad. Thanks for pulling this together.

My result is Namibia, and I am planning a 3 months trip to Africa from September. It was a lot of fun answering the questions!

Got US West Coast RV run. Guess what? I did the whole US for 8 years!!!

How fun! Apparently, I need to go to Thailand 🙂 Never a bad idea!

Wow, this was so much fun. I tried twice with different options apparently I am even confused between choices in the same section lol.

Great quiz! Seems like I’m heading to Spain, but that’s just fine – I like Spain. Looking forward to some tapas and sangria.

There were a couple of questions that I answered with one of the possibilities although the others would have been just as suitable. However, the result – which is Thailand – is great! I had a great time in Thailand – much better than expected – and I intend to go back as soon as my daughter is ready to come with me (for – not strictly – once in my life no solo travel….)

I got Thailand, which is one of my favourite places ever!! Awesome quiz, it’s fun to see where you might get and how that lines up with where you’ve been!

What a great little travel quiz, I got Japan which is a place I really really want to go to. I did have more than one answer but went with my gut instead but it seemed to work. I will have to let you know when I am going to Japan. Now I must book that ticket

Awesome post!!! Really great. I got Thailand! I already visited this country and i loved it.

Definitely got me right with Spain 🙂

I took the quiz and it did absolutely nothing to help me. Says I should go to Cali. WTH! I live across the Colorado River from Cali, have ZERO desire to go there. How can they ask questions on a passport and suggest something like California. (eyeroll)

‘Exchange a coin and you make no difference but exchange a thought and you can change the world.’ Hi! I’m Veena Patil... Fortunate enough to have answered my calling some 35 years ago and content enough to be in this business of delivering happiness almost all my life. Tourism indeed moulds you into a minimalist... Memories are probably our only possession. And memories are all about sharing experiences, ideas and thoughts. Life is simple, but it becomes easy when we share. Places and people are two things that interest me the most. travel personality quiz

Hi, I'm Jessie

what type of traveler are you

there are many reasons i love travel; the way it connects people and allows them to share an experience, the feeling of ultimate freedom it provides, the way it awakens a sense of curiosity.

While I think guidebooks can be a helpful resource, I believe the beauty of travel comes less in seeing sites and more in experiencing places.

Now, I realize that the definition of an amazing trip varies from person to person, which is exactly why I designed this vacation destination quiz to provide unique travel recommendations based on your personality.

In short, if you're looking for a how to choose a travel destination quiz, this is for you.

Get ready to explore the world #BeyondTheGuidebook!

A little bit about me:

  • I started traveling solo after friends bailed on a summer trip through Europe. It is now my preferred way to see the world.
  • I'm passionate about not putting off your dreams, whether they're travel-related or not. The time to live your life shouldn't be restricted to two weeks per year vacation or retirement. It should be NOW.
  • Some of my favorite trips have been trekking through Nepal's Annapurna Himalayas, backpacking solo through South America for three months, exploring remote Bhutan, and hiking and wine tasting my way around the Azores.
  • I've been featured in top publications like USA TODAY, CNN, Forbes, Business Insider, and AOL Travel, as well as a travel web series with Bravo and a featured guest on BBC Travel TV (twice!).

What type of traveler are you and where should you go on your next trip?

Where should you travel next?

If you're ready to take flight but not sure where to land, try this quick quiz! From Malaysia to Canada, you'll find out which destination fits your unique needs and interests ✨✈️🙌

Which cocktail would you most likely sip on and why?

To heck with cocktails! Wine is my drink of choice.

A mojito! It's refreshing and just sugary enough.

A mai-tai! This drink tastes just like summer 😎

A lemon drop! Mmm, sweet with a splash of sour.

Your perfect day consists of...

Grabbing a traditional macchiato and browsing through my favourite second-hand bookstore – a first edition Virginia Woolf? Yes, please!

Playing the tourist in my hometown! I research its top attractions and get started bright and early. Scenic hiking trail ✅ Art gallery ✅ Boujee tapas bar ✅

Hitting the town! I take a little extra time picking out the perfect outfit and fixing my hair then meet up for margaritas with a couple of close friends.

Packing up my sunscreen, snacks, and towel and hitting the beach. I'll spend the day swimming, tanning, and catching up on my social media.

Which suitcase best suits your style?

A designer rolling suitcase.

A utilitarian bag with pockets galore.

A vintage inspired luggage set.

A trendy hard shell suitcase.

From 1-10, how confidant are you in planning your own trip?

1-4 – Nailing down all the details (flights, accommodations, and tour guides) never fails to freak me out. How am I supposed to remember everything?

5-8 – I've got it covered... for the most part. But it might be useful to have someone review my travel arrangements and double-check their seamlessness.

9-10 – When it comes to trips, I'm a planning whiz. I book everything months in advance to make sure I see all the can't be missed sights.

What's tempting you to travel?

My curiosity! There's nothing more interesting than digging into a different culture.

The relaxation! I'm way overdue for some rest and recuperation.

The nightlife! Hitting the most popular bars and clubs is the best way to take a city's pulse.

My adventurousness! New experiences inspire my creativity.

What's your dream accommodation?

A luxurious hotel – I'm a creature of comfort, friend!

A comfy Airbnb – Stylish surroundings for less $$$.

Under the stars – Mother Earth has the best room service!

Would you rather be too hot or too cold?

Too hot – I don't mind sweating a bit!

Too cold – I'll just wear a scarf!

When it comes to travel, what's your biggest hang-up?

Budget – I can't afford to break the bank on first-class plane tickets and luxury resorts.

Scheduling – If I can barely find enough time for self-care, how am I going to fit in a week-long voyage?

Travel anxiety – I want to see all the sights but being far away from home freaks me out.

Connectivity – Travel is a no-go for me if it means being without cell service and WiFi.

Which dish makes your mouth water?

Salmon garnished with seasonal vegetables and fruit!

Hummus with homemade bread. Chickpeas, garlic, and tahini, oh my!

Laksa! Rice noodles in a rich coconut broth.

Paella with fresh seafood. I love me a little spice!

What would you miss the most while traveling?

My comfort food – I'm not the most adventurous eater... What can I say? Sometimes you just need a bowl of mac 'n cheese.

My work or studies – While taking the occasional break is totally necessary, I never want to stop learning.

My friends and family – I know my trip will be worth it, but I'll miss my peeps 100%. It's time to download WhatsApp!

You should travel to... Barcelona, Spain

Friend, your fun-loving nature makes you a perfect fit for Barcelona! From Michelin star cuisine to ornate architecture, this Spanish metropolis has something to suit your every whim.

On top of its rich history and culture, Barcelona has a world-class nightlife scene. You'll find an array of trendsetting cocktail restaurants and underground bars. Love music? Make sure to check out what bands are playing while you're in town.

To get a sense of Barcelona's artistic identity, visit the Joan Miró Foundation museum. It's renowned for its collection of contemporary paintings and sculptures.

"Explore the world with an open mind, a sturdy suitcase, and clothes that don't wrinkle" – Madeleine Albright

Three tips to take the stress out of planning your trip? Read on, friend...

1) Book Transportation and Accommodations Early

Once you've decided where to travel and how long to stay for, book your flight, train, and bus tickets. Try to make your reservations a couple of months in advance, as prices tend to rise over time. Bonus tip: If you're looking to save, consider signing up for a credit card with frequent flyer points.

2) Plan Your Days

Before departing for your dream destination, spend time scheduling your days. Prioritize the attractions you can't go without seeing. On top of that, make sure to check that the activities you're interested in will be available while you're visiting and, if needed, make reservations online.

3) Pack Thoroughly

While it can be tempting to put off until the last minute, packing well ahead of your departure date will save you stress during your trip. Make a list of everything you'll need during your stay and tick off the items as you go. Don't scrimp on supplies – while it may seem like a bit of a burden to bring things like sunscreen and lotion. It'll be so worth it!

"Who's this mystery person with all the top-tier travel tips?" I'm glad you asked!

You should travel to... British Columbia, Canada

Friend, your adventurous spirit makes you a perfect fit for British Columbia! Located on Canada's Pacific coast, British Columbia boasts some of the world's most diverse landscapes. From lush boreal rainforests to dry, arid deserts, it's got it all.

If you're looking a big city experience, check out the province's capital Vancouver. Its chic coffee shops and trendsetting stores will have you spinning. But if you want laid-back...

British Columbia has that, too! Known as "wine country," the Okanagan Valley is home to Canada's top vineyards. Try booking a guided tour to learn more about the area's wide variety of grapes.

You should travel to... Malaysia

Friend, your relaxed nature makes you a perfect fit for Malaysia! Bordering Thailand and Indonesia, the country is a culturally diverse retreat. From its pristine beaches to its thriving Chinatowns, it's got a little something for everyone.

After spending a rejuvenating day swimming and sunbathing, try exploring Malaysia's wildlife. On a safari, you can expect to see tapirs, monkeys, wild boars, and a dazzling array of birds and insects.

If you're after an adrenaline-filled adventure, you can book a tour through Malaysia's 3,000-year-old caves and caverns or go scuba diving in Sipidan, just off the tip of Malaysian Borneo.

You should travel to... Israel

Friend, your love of learning makes you a perfect fit for Israel! When it comes to history, this tiny country packs a punch. Jerusalem is the official capital and holy city to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. If you're after nightlife and a faster pace, Tel Aviv is the place to be.

On top of its centuries-old cities, Israel boasts many scenic natural wonders: pristine stretches of the Mediterranean coast, the Negev desert, and the Dead Sea. With all that variety, you're sure to find something that suits your speed.

While you're visiting, don't miss out on tasting Israel's unique multi-cultural cuisine: hummus with lots of tahini, falafel, and shakshuka. They don't call it the Land of Milk and Honey for nothing!

While it can be tempting to put off until the last minute, packing well ahead of your departure date will save you stress during your trip. Make a list of everything you'll need during your stay and tick off the items as you go. Don't scrimp on supplies – while it may seem like a bit of a burden to bring things like sunscreen and lotion, it'll be so worth it!

I planned 30 trips in 3 years, and this is the app that kept me sane

Published on May 25, 2024

Around three years ago, my husband and I moved from Lebanon to Paris. Going from a country where we had to plan every trip months in advance to a country where we could hop on a train and go anywhere in Europe was life-changing. No Visa applications, no SIM card change, and no new travel insurance to buy — how could we resist? So off we went. One trip turned into another, then another, and another… And here we are today, with over 30 trips under our belt and one app to help us manage the madness: Wanderlog .

Now, before you think I’m made of money, I’ll be clear: Not all of these were week-long vacations. Many were short single-day trips to nearby towns or weekend trips. But I digress. We’re here to talk about Wanderlog.

I’ve already written about the app a few times, and I’ve mentioned it on podcasts and on Twitter to people who ask me about travel app recommendations — and to those who don’t ask me. I’ve been a Wanderlog fan since the day I stumbled on the app in the Play Store because there’s nothing like it. Trust me, I’ve looked. So let me perform some free publicity because this is one of the best Android apps out there, and it deserves to be known.

Do you use a travel planning app?

Exploring cities in wanderlog is a time-saver.

wanderlog android explore best koln breweries

The first time-saving hack in Wanderlog comes in when I start planning a trip. I just add the city or town’s name and the app will scour the internet for articles and recommendations, then list all the places there. Everything from the best brunch places in Barcelona to the must-visit attractions in Saint-Quentin, the nicest photo spots in Rouen, or the list of spas around Geneva — it’s all there.

I can simply tap to add a place to my trip, which saves me countless hours of planning. I don’t need to browse articles, manually type the name of a place in Google Maps, see if it fits the rest of my plan or is too out of the way, and then add it. I can do this inside the same app in a split second.

It takes me no longer than 10 minutes to get a preliminary plan for any trip. Now, I can use my actual research time to look for off-the-beaten-track things to do, like escape rooms, unknown attractions, and unique activities, instead of wasting it on the basic itinerary.

Personal lists vs. itinerary planning

wanderlog android map

The second feature I love the most about Wanderlog is how well it fits my travel philosophy. See, for any given trip, I have a list of things I’d like to check out and activities or places I’ve already booked. The former are fluid options; the latter are set in stone.

And Wanderlog allows me to have this flexibility. There is an itinerary for activities I’ve booked at a specific date and/or time, and then there are general lists where I can group the things I would like to do, secondary places to check out, good restaurants, local markets, escape rooms, and more.

Every list or itinerary day gets a different icon and color. Plus, I can always show or hide these on the map to avoid crowding it with all the optional stuff.

wanderlog android time to travel

Better yet, when I add places to the itinerary, I can tap to show the time it’d take me to go from one place to another by foot, transit, or car. Perfect for planning tight schedules!

Google Maps data, distance, notes, and more

wanderlog android bernabeu madrid place details

Then there’s everything else Wanderlog offers that just pushes it further ahead of any other travel planning app I’ve tried. Sure, I can add my flights or train reservations, my hotel, and my car rental, if any, but there’s a lot more here.

Wanderlog grabs Google Maps data like opening hours, websites, phone numbers, and photos for every place I add. Places have a card with my own personal notes, which I can format, add links or bullets to, and more. I use this a lot when I find a deal on an entrance ticket, specific information about the best time to visit an attraction, or really any other personal notes I need to remember on the day of the trip. There are also general notes to be added, which serve me well when I want to save information about local transit cards, specific customs, or local products to buy.

wanderlog android homescreen

Wanderlog is available on Android ( Play Store ) and iOS ( iTunes ), including tablets, and on the web. I especially appreciate that any updates I make on my Android phone show up immediately on my tablet, computer, and everything else. This makes planning trips with my husband super easy. We usually sit with one laptop and one tablet or phone, and we both add and edit things as we figure out what we want to do. Oh, and you can easily share a trip with a friend. As a matter of fact, this is the first thing the app asks you about before creating your trip.

I’ve been using Wanderlog for three years and I’ve stuck with the free version so far. For approximately $5 a month, the Pro version adds a dark mode, an offline mode, Google Maps exports, and more — not features I really need. Closing a pop-up reminder for the Pro subscription every now and then doesn’t bother me much, either. But to be fair, given how often I use the app and how much I love it, I’m starting to feel bad for not giving it my support.

wanderlog android trips planned

If you’re looking for an app to help you plan trips, try Wanderlog. It is the travel planner to end all travel planners. It can easily replace lists in Maps, spreadsheets, Chrome bookmarks, calendar events, personal notes, and more. I used to get exhausted planning one or two trips a year; now, I can plan 10 trips a year and have time to spare. That’s how good this app is.

If you’ve never seen a tribute act perform the songs of artists that are either too big to play in Maine or who have passed away, there’s a way to do a whole bunch of that this week in Portland.

There are also tribute shows happening in venues around the state all summer long.

Let’s start with Portland-based A Strange Day, a tribute to British alternative act The Cure, fronted by singer and guitarist Seth Warner.

The band will perform The Cure’s second album, “Seventeen Seconds,” in its entirety, along with some hits and other cuts at Portland House of Music on Thursday.

The album was released on April 18, 1980. Lead singer and guitarist Robert Smith turned 21 three days later. The single  “A Forest” marked the band’s debut on the U.K. Singles Chart, where it reached the No. 31 spot. The song remains a setlist staple at The Cure’s live performances.

Warner said he put himself in the shoes of Cure fans when deciding what album to cover. “What I would like to hear from a Cure band is a dive into the specific eras that surrounded each record, and ‘Seventeen Seconds’ set the tone for the more introspective and gloomy textures and themes.” Advertisement

As for Warner’s favorite “Seventeen Seconds” tracks, he said, “I really like ‘At Night’ for its dynamic potential, and the edgy and angsty ‘M.'”

The band took its name from the track “A Strange Day” from The Cure’s 1982 album “Pornography.”

Along with Warner, the band is Pete Dugas (keys), Andrew Hodgkins (drums), Matt Kennedy (synth/sax), Kevin O’Reilly (bass), Casey Urich (trumpet) and Corey Urich.

Angel Butts, a copy editor living in Westbrook, has seen The Cure more than 100 times on three continents and at least 10 countries, including Latvia and Colombia. “They’re like breathing to me. They have this massive catalog and it spans every possible mood, I don’t know of another band with a palette like that. “Seventeen Seconds” is among her favorite of the band’s 13 studio albums.

Butts has seen The Cure play the “Seventeen Seconds” album all the way through three times. “One of those shows stands as the best show I’ve ever seen in my life. The Cure: Reflections, Nov. 27, 2011 at the  Beacon Theatre in New York City.”

Butts said she and her 13-year-old daughter will be attending the A Strange Day show. “I think she’s more excited than I am.” Advertisement

Another British act that will likely never perform in Maine is The Rolling Stones. With more than 30 albums, the band achieved legendary status decades ago. Singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards are both 80, and the band is currently on tour and will be at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, on Thursday.

There are still tickets left for that show, but you can save yourself hours of traffic jams and a lot of more by instead heading to Aura on Saturday to see Satisfaction: The International Rolling Stones tribute show. Or maybe you’ll see the real deal and then keep the party going here in Maine.

Satisfaction has been slinging Stones hits for over two decades and has played more than 4,000 shows. Chris LeGrand’s take on Mick Jagger is pretty convincing, and he and the band will surely be pleased to meet you.

David Bowie and Prince died within five months of each other in 2016, at the ages of 69 and 57, respectively, and their losses were felt by millions of fans around the world. Advertisement

With contributions that are impossible to quantify, both artists left behind a legacy of music that lives on through radio play, home listening and tribute shows.

Boston-based musician Eric Gould loves both artists and is the bandleader of a Prince/Bowie tribute coming to Portland on Saturday. The band is a revolving lineup of players from all over the country.

Gould plays bass and designs the setlists. For this show, the musicians are Cal Kehoe (guitar, vocals), Adrian Tramontano (drums), Sammi Garrett (percussion, vocals), Josh Schwartz (baritone sax, vocals), Rob Somerville (tenor saxophone), Rob Volo (trombone) and Kiran Edwards (keys).

Gould said that, to him, Prince embodies soul, creative arrangement and precision. “His music has the best energy and makes you feel on top of the universe.”

He described Bowie as having a voice and character that is completely unique.

“It is powerful and epic and decadent,” said Gould, who has made a career out of finding unique connections through the songbooks of artists. “It is such a treat to present music people know and love in a way that is fresh to the ears. This combination brings so much joy to everyone on and off stage.” Advertisement

A word cloud from pollsters More In Common, found that a lot of people think the general election campaign is "boring".

Ali asks our panel if they agree that it is the case (with a disclaimer that both are on a politics show on a Sunday night).

James Starkie, the former Home Office adviser, says he thinks it's partly to do with the parties' leaders.

He says that, even though Jeremy Corbyn wasn't charismatic, he was compelling.

And no-one would describe Boris Johnson as boring, Mr Starkie says.

But there is a fatigue in politics at the moment. Mr Starkie reckons a lot of people will only tune in for the last week or so of the election.

The New Statesman's Freddie Hayward says Rishi Sunak needs to avoid the mistakes he made with Liz Truss during public debates - where he came across as rude by interrupting.

He also spoke too quickly, Mr Hayward says.

Both leaders, he reckons, will be working with their teams ahead of the debates to make sure they're best prepared.

And with that, Ali ends the Politics Hub show.

Join us again tomorrow, when Sophy Ridge will be back at the helm.

By Tamara Cohen , political correspondent

As AI deepfakes cause havoc during other elections, experts warn the UK's politicians should be prepared.

"Just tell me what you had for breakfast", says Mike Narouei, of ControlAI, recording on his laptop. I speak for around 15 seconds, about my toast, coffee and journey to their offices.

Within seconds, I hear my own voice, saying something entirely different.

In this case, words I have written: "Deepfakes can be extremely realistic and have the ability to disrupt our politics and damage our trust in the democratic process."

We have used free software, it hasn't taken any advanced technical skills, and the whole thing has taken next to no time at all.

This is an audio deepfake - video ones take more effort to produce - and as well as being deployed by scammers of all kinds, there is deep concern, in a year with some two billion people going to the polls, in the US, India and dozens of other countries including the UK, about their impact on elections.

You can read more from Sky News below:

Our panel is now discussing the NHS.

James Starkie says that shadow health secretary Wes Streeting's pledge to reform the NHS has struck a chord with the public.

He says that it does need to be digitised drastically, among other things, and Mr Streeting has spoken about that.

But the devil is in the details, Mr Starkie says, and also the funding - which Labour has not set out its plans for.

Freddie Hayward, a political correspondent at the New Statesman, says it remains to be seen if Labour has the political capital to reform the NHS if they come into power.

He says the situation is tricky due to the party's inheritance - and there will be a swathe of issues if they come into power.

Maria Caulfield, the health minister, is now speaking to Ali about the NHS.

Ali asks about the NHS waiting lists - noting they doubled between 2010 and the pandemic.

Ms Caulfield says that "it's not how many people are on the waiting list that is the important factor".

She adds: "Because as we develop new treatments as we open up new services, as people get conditions that can be treated, waiting lists of course will grow".

What does matter, she says, is "how long" people wait.

People have gone from waiting two years this time last year, to an average of 16 to 18 weeks, Ms Caulfield claims.

Building new surgeries

Ms Caulfield is then asked about her party's pledge today to build 100 new GP surgeries and modernise another 150.

Ali points out that Boris Johnson pledged 40 new hospitals in 2019 - and it is predicted these will not be done by the 2030 deadline.

Ms Caulfield dismisses the concerns of the National Audit Office - and says the target remains 2030.

Back to our panel, and they are discussing migration.

James Starkie, the former Home Office adviser, says Labour adopting the OBR's forecast for net migration to fall to 315,000 by 2028 is important.

He says targets are "hostage to fortune" - as the Tories have found out.

But committing to the OBR's figures impacts how a government can forecast their tax income - and this was shown when Liz Truss had to accept large levels of immigration to fund her tax cuts.

Freddie Hayward says that cutting immigration will cost money - taking the example of employing UK people in the care sector costs more as wages are higher.

And that has to be funded from council budgets, who will look to central government for help.

Shadow schools minister Catherine McKinnell is asked by Ali about reports that private schools are blaming Labour's proposed VAT rise on the institutions for closing.

She says it is "right" for private schools to pay VAT - adding that there have been a number of above-inflation rises to school fees in recent years and student numbers have not fallen.

The shadow minister says the money raised from the tax rise will be spent on state schools, where "nine out of ten" children get their education.

She adds that thinktanks have factored behavioural changes into their forecasts of schools fees being taxed - and a net benefit was predicted.

On tonight's Politics Hub with Ali Fortescue , Labour's shadow schools minister Catherine McKinnell was asked about the party's immigration policy.

It comes after Labour made a pledge to reduce net migration ( read more here ).

Ms McKinnell was asked if her party would stick by the forecasts based on current policy produced by the Office of Budgetary Responsibility (OBR), which stated net migration would fall from 685,000 at the end of last year to 315,000 by the 2027/2028 period.

The Labour candidate first said the party respects the OBR, and that she did not know what the projected figure was.

When Ali told her what the target was, she was unclear if Labour would accept the figure as part of its plans should it take power.

Ms McKinnell then said that "if that's what the OBR is predicting, then that's what we will work within".

Asked if this was then Labour's target to reduce migration, Ms McKinnell says Labour does not have a target for reducing migration.

She adds that immigration can be a benefit to the economy, but UK also needs to grow its on workforce.

Ali turns to your panel to discuss the Diane Abbott row - and the veteran Labour politician standing again for the party ( read more here ).

Freddie Hayward, a political correspondent at the New Statesman, says what happens this week will decide whether a line has been drawn under the squabble.

He says that, if Ms Abbott comes out in the media it could inflame the situation again.

But if she backs the leadership, then it will maybe see things move on.

James Starkie, a former Home Office adviser, points out that Labour has made a series of decisions which have been questionable.

This includes what happened to Ms Abbott, as well as things like the row back on a £28bn climate pledge.

He says if Labour wants to be in government, it needs to get on top of such events.

Good evening. Welcome to the first Sunday Politics Hub – in case you missed it, we are now going seven days a week - so I will be with you on the weekends from here on in.

And well, today the parties are focusing on two things that always come right at the top of the list of what the public care about.

Healthcare and immigration.

But not necessarily the way round you'd expect, though.

It's Labour pledging to be tough on net migration.

And the Conservatives promising more GP appointments.

Not their traditional turf.

Waiting lists have reached record highs under the Tories.

And for labour - will too tough a message on immigration turn off some voters? The SNP certainly thought so today.

Or is this an election where we're seeing traditional party lines, and potentially the political map, redrawn?

A lot might have happened this week – but look at the polls.

The Labour Party is still miles ahead, holding onto a 20 point lead.

The first TV debate is this week - could a breakout moment in a head-to-head debate shift the polls?
