They were okay, but really only one if you don’t plan on dragging two grandkids with you on your retirement.

Rockwood mini-lite 2507S was somehow missed. Many standard features as well as a full 60X80 queen bed.

Yes we’re looking for an ultra lite with Murphy bed but without the bunk beds please ! Actually the RV shows we’ve been to it’s hard to find one with the Murphy bed at all ……… We love our dodge half ton truck so that’s not an option to give up so if anyone out there wants our business they better start listening to us !

Nice compilation! One thing to add which I think is an important feature you left out on the Geo Pro 19FD. Yes its a couples camper not meant for a family however the price falls in the 22-23K not the 33k msrp. What sets this camper apart from all the others listed is the fact GEO adds several upgrades as standard. I’m a researcher by nature, any major purchase, I do my homework so I truly appreciate the wonderful information you provide. I know the length, I feel comfortable pulling and want 2 tandem axle. We have pulled horse trailers for years so hauling is not new to us. Driven motor homes several times but a travel trailer will be new for us. Question if you have a previous article on single verses double tandem plus receiving mixed information on length bumper to front or tongue or ? Murphy beds shouldn’t be dangerous. They lock into place and shouldn’t fall unless they’re improperly installed. If you are building your own Murphy bed, make sure the frame can’t become dislodged from the wall due to not being secured correctly.

Heavy-duty latches or bungee cords are a good way to double-secure the bed when the trailer’s in motion.

Also, make sure the bed frame is screwed into something that’s solid wood and that more than one screw is used per side.

A Murphy bed is a great option if a small trailer is what you can afford, tow, or prefer. You get a lot of extra daytime space when you fold the bed up.

Most Murphy beds in the models we mentioned have a couch that’s revealed when the bed is folded up. The bed only takes up space when you’re using it. Otherwise, you’ll have room for seating, dining, or just extra space to move around.

The negatives of a Murphy bed include no privacy, which would certainly factor in when children and guests are around. Of course, you must put up the bed in the morning and put it down again at night. This process doesn’t take long but could be a turn-off for some people.

In general, travel trailers with Murphy beds are a great option for many RV lifestyles.

RV engineers are always wrestling with space versus features. Even in 40-foot travel trailers, a square millimeter means the difference between fitting a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Many floor plans sacrifice master bedroom space for more room in the living room area.

Murphy beds solve the claustrophobia problem of master suites by combining the space with daytime seating. When folded down, these queen-sized beds have plenty of walk around area, allowing both adults to ease into bed comfortably.

Manufacturers build murphy beds in trailers, so they’re simple to close up. You don’t have to strip the bed or perform any other annoying tasks. You leave your bedding and pillows however you want and simply fold it up against the wall. Once the foundation is locked in place, you jackknife the sofa up to the sitting position.

The mattresses are either residential queen-sized, or close to it. You don’t have to settle for the bed that comes with the RV. Many top mattress brands will fit well even when it’s folded up. We recommend you check your RV’s owner’s manual or ask your dealer about dimensions before you order your new mattress for the best fit.

Many have built-in cabinetry that offers convenient nightstands, spacious closet space, and electronic outlets on both sides for all types of needed devices. All of this is accessible whether the bed is out or not.

Common Characteristics Seen in Murphy Bed RVs

With a few exceptions, these floor plans exist in travel trailers that stretch between 20-25 feet. Entry-level couples find these layouts most appealing. Families will enjoy the travel trailers with a murphy bed and bunk beds.

The floor plan allows for big dry bathrooms. The shower has its own space instead of small travel trailers with wet baths commonly seen at this level. You’ll find plenty of storage and shower sizes reserved for above 30-foot coaches.

Most people would be concerned about the counter space in the mid-coach kitchen. The glass top stove and sink cover solve that problem. The cabinet hutch next to the stove gives additional space for the galley style kitchen so that any camping chef can perform their hibachi skills for their hungry audience.

This Keystone travel trailer with a murphy bed allows for a good sided dry bathroom. Whether you’re using the commode or taking a shower, the room itself feels very spacious. The designers were smart by keeping cabinetry away from the top of the toilet area. The storage within the bathroom is deep and very versatile.

Towing this less-than-4,000 UVW pound travel trailer is going to a pleasure with the double axles. Having the extra set will cut down the sway exponentially when combined with the hitch sway bar. The 7.5-foot width makes it easy to see on either side of the RV since it only sticks out a ½ inch on either side while traveling.

Another popular feature is the fact that this RV is a travel trailer with an outdoor kitchen. It holds a tall dorm fridge, cooktop, sink, and plenty of storage. You’ll also find a quick connect port to hook up your grill or other propane-fueled cooking devices.

Large families will enjoy this RV since it balances sleeping space and towing weight. The bunk beds are double-sized, giving enough space for two children to sleep side-by-side. With a GVWR around 6,000 pounds, you won’t need a gas-guzzling heavy-duty truck or SUV to pull it.

Feeding your crew won’t be a problem with the 11 cubic foot refrigerator. A fridge of this size is the biggest within a travel trailer of this size and category. The full-length pantry will also fit all of your dry goods as well, so there won’t be any arguments over favorite cereals to bring or snacks.

When it comes to bath time, the tub-style shower has large enough walls to give your toddlers a good wash. There’s enough room on the floor for you to kneel comfortably to scrub them down. If they slip past you, you don’t have to worry, the entire coach has wood laminate floors, so there isn’t any carpet to ruin.

7. Jayco Jay Feather Micro 173MRB

For 2021, Jayco is replacing the Hummingbird line with the Jay Feather Micro series. Jayco hadn’t released the specifications of their models when this article was published. They were in the process of getting last-minute input from dealers and other specialists before general production.

What we can tell you is the 173MRB is the Jayco travel trailer with a murphy bed. It’s floorplan, and best-guess specification closely resembles the Rockwood Geo Pro 19FD. Like the Geo Pro, it will have a 100-watt solar panel, offer an off-road package, and many of the same features.

The inside entertainment center will be one device. The Furrion LED TV will have a soundbar at the bottom of it with a clock display. All media features, audio, and video will go through this one device and have the best sound quality possible.

Like the Airstream Atlas, this trailer boasts a Mercedes chassis , giving it a sleek and high-end look. I’m not a huge fan of the huge price spike this brings, but if it’s your cup of tea, by all means, take this trailer for a ride.

The trailer has the living area in the front and the kitchen in the center. The kitchen has an oven, a microwave, and a 2-burner stovetop .

Also, there’s an accordion door that keeps the master bedroom separate from the rest of the space, providing extra privacy. Overall, it’s a roomy RV.

As you walk into the trailer, the first thing you see is a Murphy bed that converts into a couch during the day. This makes the space roomy enough for your additional gadgets, workout equipment, or accessories .

Two large windows on both sides of the bed let you enjoy the scenic views outside. The bedsides have two wardrobes and nightstands, so there’s no issue with storage.

The peninsula-style kitchen has enough space to prepare food conveniently, while the three-burner cooktop allows two people to cook at once. Plus, the overhead cabinet houses all your food for the trip.

Moreover, it features a slide-out dinette with carpeted floors. But the highlight of this motorhome is the gas grill, which is conveniently placed outside under the awning.

In the bathroom, there’s a huge shower cabin and a linen closet. Thus, you have everything you need to feel at home.

Although the Salem Cruise is small, measuring about 22 feet, it is spacious inside, thanks to the Murphy bed. The 60 by 74 inches Murphy bed allows two people to sleep and folds into a 56-inch sofa.

This trailer’s floor plan is enough to tell you that experts design it. It has ample storage space under the tables, in the linen closet, bedroom closets, and the overhead cabinets.

The bed has end tables on both sides, so you can conveniently place your drink or snacks while watching TV. Also, there’s a 10-foot awning for all your outdoor fun activities.

In the kitchen, there is a three-burner stove and a refrigerator. However, the countertop space is a bit smaller than that of other motorhomes on this list. 

But I wouldn’t worry much about that, as there’s a U-shaped dinette right across the kitchen for prepping food and dining.

You’ll find the radius shower with a sink to its side and the toilet across it on the extreme corner of the trailer.

On the inside, the trailer is quite spacious due to the presence of the Murphy bed cum sofa. When the bed is out of the way, you’re left with a couch with plenty of entry space .

As you move forward, you reach the kitchen with a U-shaped dinette that fits many people. If necessary, you can expand it to create more sleeping space.

It’s the only motorhome on my list with a tub. If you’re a shower person, don’t worry—there’s a shower, too. The bathroom also has a toilet, sink, and wardrobe for your towels and toiletries.

Across the dinette is the kitchen with a microwave and refrigerator. In the center, there’s plenty of room for kids to play or for you to work out. The TV unit is also easily visible from the sofa and the dinette.

The trailer is an excellent purchase with all these features and a 14-foot awning.

Let’s discuss what we’re here for: the Murphy bed. Acting as a couch during the day, the bed is placed conveniently in front of the TV unit, making entertainment easily accessible.

On both sides of the bed, you’ll see mirrored wardrobes, which are hard to find in most motorhomes. I have to admit, there’s something about mirrors that makes any space look bigger than it actually is.

Although not too big, the kitchen has everything of need, ranging from the refrigerator to the microwave. Unlike most campers, the dinette is at the rear end rather than across the kitchen. Here, you can sit while dining or doing work on the go.

The bathroom has a large sink for your beauty products, while the linen closet houses the towels. It is equipped with features exuding luxury .
