Over the course of his more than 50-year career, guitar legend Eric Clapton has covered an immense amount of ground. Along with dozens of album releases and concerts worldwide, he’s received three Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions — one for his solo career and two more as a member of both Cream and the Yardbirds. He’s also earned an unofficial spot high on the list of best rock guitarists of all time.

Though his eponymous solo debut surfaced in 1970, Clapton’s solo career took off in the mid-‘70s with “461 Ocean Boulevard” and its now-ubiquitous single, “I Shot the Sheriff.” The English performer has since released 19 more solo sets, most recently “Old Sock.” That 13-track collection features mostly covers, as well as guest appearances by several established musicians, including J.J. Cale, Paul McCartney, Chaka Khan and Steve Winwood.

Clapton’s numerous tours - both alone and with his many projects — have canvased the globe, with tickets selling out regularly at iconic venues like London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Great music.

Clapton has not lost it nor will he’s a classic musician!

Awesome show sound was week at best

Overall both nights where amazing! But the sound quality was not all that good for most of the show. The Band War on Drugs had a different engineer and used a 7th mixer all the way to the back and the place JUST ROCKED!!! When they where done It was back to the old sound. That was very disappointing because it was obvious that the Sound could have been much better after seeing War on Drugs. Again over all was an awesome show both nights and the festival area outside and stage was awesome I really enjoyed it music All day and night both Saturday and Sunday

The best concert I have ever been to. .

We attended the Sunday show. The outdoor acts were great, not over crowded, you could get right to the stage if so desired. The guitar collection was fantastic. The show it self was amazing. Every artist performed very well and all seemed to enjoy themselves. I personally enjoyed Eric Clapton, Santana, Robert Randolph and Marcus King. It was also a great surprise to see Stevie Wonder take the stage. Crypto arena was great. We had premier seating and could come and go to the concessions with ease. Food prices were within reason but the beer prices were way out of control. We’ve been trying to see Crossroads for years and very glad we made the trip. We look forward to hopefully seeing another show in the future.

We only had enough money for one day, so we chose Sunday. Our costs included round trip airfare and hotel for 2 nights as well as the tickets. I will be paying for it for a bit but it was so totally worth it. The artists were amazing! The sets were perfect. The surprise artists were a plus. We were blown away and are hoping Eric Clapton does this again!

Incredible, to see this legend in concert!

I'm so glad I caught this concert, always wanted to see Clapton and I was not disappointed, Jimmie Vaughan was an amazing opener, rip SRV.

Phenomenal, once in a lifetime every. Bucket list.

It's something you have to experience for yourself.

Clapton never disappoints

Another incredible show from Clapton. Great musicians with him, great song list, lots of great jams. The only complaint is one we all have for the superstars - he could have played another four hours and we still would not have heard all of his great music.

Fantastic Music & Musicians

Phenomenal experience --- the best guitarists in the world united together to perform. Non-stop music. All genres represented. Fun Fun Fun. Wonder exhibits and displays of guitars by Guitar Center. Great bands performing on the Outside stage. So glad we attended and hope that there is another Crossroads Guitar Festival in the future.

More involvement by Eric Clapton needed.

I would have preferred more involvement and participation by Eric Clapton in the performances. Parking was good, the venue was good, nearly all of the artists invited to the Crossroads concert were good, very good, or amazingly good. I've been a fan of Eric Clapton since I was 16 years old, shortly after Fresh Cream was released. This was the first time that I have the opportunity and funds to go to an event featuring him and would have very much appreciated hearing and seeing him on stage much more than he was there at the concert.

Would like to see more guitar related product merch etc

Eric Clapton Reveals Five-Date 2023 North American Tour

by Tina Benitez-Eves March 27, 2023, 11:12 am

Days before his 78th birthday on March 30, Eric Clapton has revealed a five-date tour. He says the shows will be his only dates in North America in 2023.

Videos by American Songwriter

Featuring special guest Jimmie Vaughan, Clapton’s short run of shows is set to kick off on September 8 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Additional stops will be made in Ontario, Canada; Missouri, and Minnesota before wrapping up in Denver, Colorado, on September 16.

Clapton’s current band joining him on tour features Sonny Emory, Chris Stainton, Doyle Bramhall II, Paul Carrack, and Nathan East, with backing vocalists Katie Kissoon and Sharon White.

In 2022, Clapton released his 21st album, and first-holiday release, Happy Xmas . He also dropped a number of singles since the pandemic, including his most recent, “ Pompous Fool ,” which he said was inspired by former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s retirement announcement.

Clapton, who has been outspoken against the Covid vaccine and the policies surrounding the pandemic lockdown, and Van Morrison collaborated on another anti-lockdown song “Stand & Deliver” in the midst of the pandemic in 2020. By 2021, Clapton also released the song “ This Has Gotta Stop ,” which was followed by “ Heart of a Child ,” a song he co-wrote with vaccine skeptic Robin Monotti.

NEW SHOW DATES ANNOUNCED! 9/8/23 – Pittsburgh, PA 9/10/23 – Toronto, ON 9/12/23 – St. Louis, MO 9/14/23 – St. Paul, MN 9/16/23 – Denver, CO Tickets go on sale this Friday, 3/31 at 10am local pic.twitter.com/Lf9ybYIM4n — Eric Clapton (@EricClapton) March 27, 2023

The guitarist said that he suffered severe reactions to the AstraZeneca vaccine, which left his hands and feet numb for weeks, making him question whether he would ever be able to play guitar again.

On his previous tour in 2022, Clapton tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after his second concert at Royal Albert Hall in London and was forced to cancel several dates on his European Tour.

In April, Clapton will also perform six nights at Budokan in Tokyo, followed by two Jeff Beck   tribute concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 22 and 23. The tribute show will also feature guests including Johnny Depp, Rod Stewart, Billy Gibbons , and Gary Clark Jr., among others.

Clapton, who was replaced by Beck in The Yardbirds in 1965, paid tribute to Beck in the wake of his death, posting a photo of the late guitarist with the caption “Always and ever.”

A percentage of the proceeds from the two concerts will be donated to Folly Wildlife Rescue located in Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England.

Eric Clapton was awesome! My wife and I are big concert goers and this was one of the best we have seen. His voice is spot on, and he is the best slow guitarist of all times and you can feel the emotion it in his music. We would pay to see him again.

EC is fantastic, especially live. I’ve followed him for 50 years & seen him so many times that I’ve probably paid for one of his Ferraris or at least the 4 wheels & several Armani suits! At £200 a ticket, plus travel to London & the cost of accommodation, I decided I couldn’t afford or justify the outlay this time. I’m sad that only wealthy people can afford the prices & the less well off lose out. Hope everyone had a great time, the set list was amazing!

I was raised on the songs of Eric Clapton as he is my Dad's favorite musician. The first real song (not a children's song) that I knew all the words to was Wonderful. I knew it forwards and backwards by age 2. My favorite song at age 6 was a toss up between PROMISES and LAY DOWN SALLY.

In Sept 2017 I surprised my Dad and took him to see Eric play at MSG. The show was just a couple weeks from both of our birthdays. I never thought I'd get to see him play live and I'm so grateful that I did. Watching Eric Clapton play was the greatest birthday gift I could think of. He is so natural and calm that it seems he's not even trying. Like the guitar is part of his body. If I could re-live that night, I would. Probably a couple times a month. At the end of the concert, my Dad and I hugged as we literally wiped tears of joys from our eyes. It was a magical night of music and we were so fortunate to be able to enjoy it together. Clapton is truly a master and I will see him again, every chance I have, no matter the cost.

Eric Clapton: At 79, the voice is thinning but he’s still playing like an immortal

Even though he skipped his beloved hit Layla, the guitar god gave a truly heavenly performance – and is showing no signs of slowing down

Eric Clapton performing last year

“I’m going deaf, I’ve got tinnitus, my hands just about work,” Eric Clapton admitted in 2018. “It’s amazing to me I’m still here.”

Yet, indeed, here he was, at 79, strolling onstage at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, on the first date of yet another world tour, his first live appearance of the year. “I have to get on the bottom of the ladder every time I play guitar, just to tune it,” he admitted in that interview, discussing the effects of peripheral nerve damage in his fingers. So there was a tangible nervousness amidst the excited anticipation of the 18,000-strong audience as their hero stood in the shadowy darkness repeatedly strumming two minor chords with all the complexity and finesse of a beginner at his second lesson. Then as his seven-piece band eased into the rhythm, Clapton began to tentatively pick out a silvery motif, before his fingers slid down the neck of his guitar to unleash a flutter of sweet, long high notes full of tone, melody and nimble touch. The piece was Blue Rainbow, an unrecorded and unreleased instrumental, but the roar of the crowd might have made you think you were hearing some long lost classic. God was back in the house. Hallelujah.

The “Clapton is God” graffiti that pronounced his deified status first appeared on a wall in north London in 1967. The blues tyro was the first real guitar hero of the modern rock age, a fiery virtuoso whose rich tone and delicate touch unleashed the full potential of the instrument. His personal reputation suffered during years of alcoholism, drug abuse and egotistic ranting in the 1970s for which some have never forgiven him, but through remorseful apologies and dedicated philanthropy Clapton is surely a living personification of a person’s capacity to change for the better. As for his musical status - he’s still playing like an immortal.

This was his first time in Newcastle since the 1960s, when he spoke about playing a show with Eric Burdon of the Animals, although he seemed unsure about whether it might have been Leeds or Manchester. “Who can remember?” he shrugged, apologetically. It was about all he said during the evening apart from band introductions, but he let his fingers do the talking on a satisfying set that included Cream heavy rock classics (White Room, Cross Road Blues, Sunshine of Your Love), a warm blast of gospely Blind Faith (Presence of the Lord), a thrillingly funky charge through Derek and the Dominos’ Got to Get Better in a Little While, and solo favourites including a sincere and touching acoustic rendition of Tears in Heaven and a crowd-pleasing romp through Cocaine.

His voice – never his strongest asset – has thinned, but as a bluesman who has revered the qualities of old players and singers since his youth, he seems content to express himself with whatever he has at his disposal. He sang emotively, played with intuitive grace, and beamed with delight at his virtuoso band members as they all dipped in and out of the arrangements.

There was no room for his most beloved hit, Layla, and some speculated it was because Clapton is upset that his ex-wife Pattie Boyd (the subject of the song) recently sold his love letters to her in auction. But let’s see. It is the first night of a world tour, and singing lovelorn odes to estranged exes is surely a huge part of what the blues is all about.

Back in the 1960s, Clapton’s take on the blues was world-changing. Sixty years on, the blend of shuffles, rockers and delta acoustic blues is standard bar room band fare. But in the hands of a guitar god, it was delivered with a finesse that elevated it to a genuinely heavenly plane.

Clapton quite possibly the best guitarist in the world showed us why. He definitely is a master. However, he has no engagement with the audience whatsoever. He said “thanks” following the first song and never again spoke a word. He didn’t even introduce his band. Does this impact the music…. No; but it certainly downgrades the overall concert. Eric take a lesson from Elton John or Paul McCartney. They make you feel welcome and important.

Best Concert

My Best Concert ever. Eric Clapton is pure talent and is truely amazing. An oppertunity to see him that I am so glad that I did not miss.

Great to see a legend....but

It was great to see such a talented legend but the mixing was off and often times you couldn't hear Eric's vocals well. And, sadly, there was no interaction or acknowledgement of the audience in Toronto.

Took my son and his wife for their birthday and we had a rocking wonderful time. Clapton has always been on my bucket list and he definitely was worth it. Not a man of many words just playing music! All the hits and then some. Jimmie Vaughn was amazing too. Great show!

Probably one of the best Clapton concerts I have seen

Fantastic band in a great mood. To see Eric Clapton smile during solos of his colleagues was extraordinary. Great musicians and Eric Clapton with apparent fun, this is not guaranteed. I have seen him several times and beside a concert at Royal Albert hall in London around 20 years ago, this was my best Clapton experience. Unfortunately I missed some great stuff like white room or sunshine of your love.

Musical Legend

Eric Clapton and his musicians were nothing less than spectacular. As a lifelong fan I was in awe of the talent that was on the stage that night. The atmosphere was wonderful and I felt all of the fans enjoyed the concert. It was truly an experience that I will treasure forever. I had goosebumps!

my seat was broken

My seat was broken, I reported to service man (beside entrance). Waited almost 1/2 hour to fix - was done when performance started

We had a great time and so enjoyed the show! Clapton is 78 and in still playing like a genius! Until next time

Clapton is amazing, venue was not

Eric clapton was great. Scotiabank Arena (formerly Air Canada Centre) was Not. Sound was lousy. I have never been to a major concert with such poor sound. The seats (first row of section 120) were add ons and were so uncomfortable that i needed to stand for most of the concert. I have tickets lined up for another concert and if the seats are the same I will NEVER go to this venue again for a concert. Not worth the hefty price of tickets

Too amazing to describe

Where do I begin. Not only did I have amazing tickets thanks to the deal I got via Ticketmaster, but the entertainment DID NOT disappoint. This was my first time ever being in the audience of true classic rock/blues music and I can honestly say it was one of the best concerts of my entire life. I will never forget it. The energy in the Scotiabank Arena was so insane that when they came out for an encore, that just made me even more happy that I splurged for these tickets.

Product description.

In 1990, Eric Clapton performed 18 nights at one of his favorite venues - the famous Royal Albert Hall in London. During the 18 run of shows Clapton performed with three different line-ups: a rock band, a blues band, and an orchestra. Eric returned to the same venue in 1991 with the same three line-ups and played a further 24 shows. The huge undertaking of rehearsing for performances of three distinctly different genres was made even more challenging by the line-up for the rock shows varying from 4, 9 or 13 band members. Clapton has always played with superlative musicians, and these shows were no exception. The bands included Johnnie Johnson, Jimmie Vaughan, Chuck Leavell, Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes, Steve Ferrone, Ray Cooper, and Jerry Portnoy. Additionally, legendary special guests joined Clapton on stage: Phil Collins in the rock ensemble; Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and Albert Collins for the blues shows. The Orchestral performances were arranged and conducted by Michael Kamen the highly regarded and successful composer who had worked with Clapton previously (Lethal Weapon, Edge Of Darkness). The set list included the epic 30 minute “Concerto For Guitar” that Kamen composed especially for Clapton – released now for the first time. Many of the performances in both years were filmed and recorded. The huge volume of audio and film material from the archive has been painstakingly restored and upgraded by Clapton’s team of Simon Climie (audio production and mixing), producer Peter Worsley (Slowhand at 70 and The Lady In The Balcony), and director David Barnard (The Lady In The Balcony). This remarkable series of shows will finally be given the release that they deserve. A full concert of each genre (Rock, Blues, Orchestral) has been assembled from the hours of material available and will be released on audio (CD, LP, digital) and with an accompanying film on Blu-ray and DVD. The Clapton classics performed with the rock band include “White Room”, “Lay Down Sally”, “Wonderful Tonight”, “Pretending”, and “Layla”. The Orchestral show features a stunning version of “Layla”, plus stand-out highlights of “Bell Bottom Blues”, “Edge Of Darkness”, and “Sunshine of Your Love”. Great covers of “Cocaine”, “I Shot The Sheriff” and “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” are also featured. The 14-song Blues set includes standards such as “Sweet Home Chicago”, “Have You Ever Loved A Woman”, and “Key To The Highway”. The limited-edition “Definitive 24 Nights” deluxe box sets include 47 songs and almost 6 hours of music on 6 CDs or 8 LPs and 3 Blu-ray’s. The Rock, Blues and Orchestral shows will also be released as stand-alone concerts on LP and CD. The CD formats also come with the film of the show on DVD.

Eric Clapton sends message to Jürgen Klopp with classy gesture during Liverpool gig

Jürgen Klopp’s imminent departure from Liverpool is attracting plenty of attention, and not just in the football world.

The German is set to bid farewell to Anfield next weekend after nearly nine years in charge. During that time, he has transformed the club, bringing it back to the pinnacle of English and European football.

His final game next weekend against Wolves is sure to be an emotional occasion for everyone associated with Liverpool . His influence has not only been felt at Anfield though, but throughout the city and beyond.

Numerous people have paid tribute to Klopp over the last few months following his shock announcement back in January. The latest to send his own message is none other than Eric Clapton.

Considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Clapton, who found fame in the 1960s with The Yardbirds and Cream before enjoying a successful solo career, was in Liverpool on Saturday for the second stop on his nine-date tour. It was the first time in nearly 15 years that he had played in the city.

And the 79-year-old certainly made sure to endear himself to the locals. As per the Liverpool Echo’s review of the gig , Clapton broke out into a rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone to cheers and a few boos, most likely from some of the city’s Everton contingent.

Clapton ended the anthem by exclaiming “For Jürgen” in a clear message to Liverpool’s departing manager, much to the delight of the audience at the M&S Bank Arena.

Liverpool.com says: Klopp’s departure will have not just a big impact on the footballing world. His influence reaches far beyond the sport, and what he has done for the city of Liverpool, not just the football club, will certainly not be forgotten.

The fact that he now has one of the world’s biggest rock stars sending him a message during one of his gigs shows just what he means to Liverpool. Considering his love for rock music, Klopp will probably be quite pleased with getting a shoutout from Clapton. It’s certainly better than the response he got from Liam Gallagher …

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
