Blackbear Schedules ‘Nothing Matters’ Headlining North American Tour for Fall 2022

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

In September, Blackbear will head out on his first headlining tour since 2019. The Nothing Matters North American tour will launch in support of the musician’s sixth studio album In Loving Memory , set for release later this year.

The 15-date tour begins on Sept. 4 at Atlanta’s Coca Cola Roxy. Blackbear will make stops in Philadelphia, New York, Detroit, Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Diego, and more before wrapping on Sept. 29 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. General sale of the Nothing Matters tour begins on Friday, July 15 at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets and pre-sale information can be found on the official Blackbear website .

The trek will be supported by Mod Sun, State Champs, Waterparks, and Heart Attack Man on select dates.

Earlier this year, Blackbear joined frequent collaborator Machine Gun Kelly on the road as an opener on the Mainstream Sellout tour. The forthcoming album, In Loving Memory , is a team-up with Travis Barker that takes the “Hot Girl Bummer” rapper back to his alternative, pop-punk roots.

“The whole idea behind the album is [a] letter to my father who passed away, and I never got to say goodbye,” Blackbear told Alternative Press earlier this year. “I’m making this music that is true to my roots, and I’m bringing out guest stars like Jordan Pundik from New Found Glory and Bert McCracken from the Used. I’m paying homage to the bands I grew up listening to with this album.”

  ABOUT blackbear:

Since first crashing onto the scene in the mid-2010s, blackbear has defied all expectations, effortlessly mixing his hedonistic hellraising and maniac humor with deeply heartfelt emotion. Delivering an outrageously catchy hybrid of pop and hip-hop and alt-R&B, the L.A.-based artist has released five studio albums in the last six years alone, including 2019’s magnum opus  ANONYMOUS , and 2020’s gold-certified  everything means nothing  which rose to #15 on the Billboard 200 Chart. The first glimpse at his latest metamorphosis, the fantastically zeitgeisty anthem “hot girl bummer” dropped in August 2019, reaching #5 at Top 40 radio and earning platinum certification from the RIAA—eventually emerging as blackbear’s most successful smash since 2017’s double-platinum “do re mi.”

Establishing himself as one of the most sought-after artists for collaborations in the industry, blackbear has recently been featured alongside Travis Barker on Avril Lavigne’s newest song, “Love It When You Hate Me,” Machine Gun Kelly’s “make up sex” and All Time Low’s “Monsters”   which took home this year’s iHeartRadio Music Award for “Alternative Song of the Year.” In 2021, he collaborated with Machine Gun Kelly on their hit single titled “my ex’s bestfriend”   which received the MTV Video Music Award for “Best Alternative Video” and spent multiple weeks #1 at radio.  He’s produced and written hit songs for leading artists in the music industry such as Billie Eilish, Ellie Goulding, Maroon 5, G-Eazy, Justin Bieber, Kane Brown and Charlie Puth.

Well, let me say, first and foremost, that this is a concert I was already looking forward to. I've never been to a rap concert of any sort in my life, and I wanted to see my all-time favorite perform live. We got there relatively early, but still we're a little ways back in the line since the show had completely sold out! The opening acts--Lil Aaron, Elhae, 24hrs, DWN2EARTH, and the DJ--kept everyone hyped and entertained for an hour and a half with fun music, including even playing Party in the USA at one point. We met 24hrs and DWN2EARTH who were very sweet guys that even took pictures with us while trying to push through the crowd. Elhae even came down at one point.

Then once the opening acts were done, Blackbear was on stage and everyone was screaming. He started off with "hell is where i dreamt of u and woke up alone", the first track off "digital druglord". He then proceeded to follow the album order with "moodz". Getting everything hyped again, he proceeded with "i miss the old u" and went into "do re mi" which had everyone screaming and jumping in excitement. The only track off "digital druglord" that he didn't play was "chateau" which was a bummer, but other than that he effortlessly played the other tracks off the album. He did a mashup of songs off the "Drink Bleach" and "Cashmere Noose" EPs, and then had his guitar brought out so he could play some old music off "Deadroses", like "90210", and off "The Afterglow", like "Valley Girls". Since Jerry Good was with him, he also played "Slide Thru". Towards the end he played some of his new songs that are only on SoundCloud, like "bus it". He also played "idfc", "Shake Ya Ass", and "I Needed You". Blackbear was consistently grateful for the support of all of his fans, and truly excited to be in Cleveland. He kept an endless amount of energy and a strong voice, adlibbing with high notes that had just as much support as all the rest. The live saxophone player truly brought together a lot of the music, and made it a very fun show! Definitely worth the time and money!

Honestly I was so excited for this concert but it turned out to be a HUGE disappointment for me. I really tried to enjoy the show, but it was almost impossible. There were no opening acts, and the main act came on an hour late, then 20 mins into the show he took a break to get a cigarette. Also, i would have been okay with it if he could actually sing, but he really couldn’t. I could hardly make out what song he was playing each time and I know all his songs off by heart.

Blackbear was very careless about everything and everyone and was pretty rude to his fans. He purposely poured water all over the crown for no reason and he took a girl’s hat, put it on then threw it into the crowd. She then stayed at the door of the venue after the concert asking everyone if they’ve seen her hat. He didn’t even play for a total of 1 hour.

Not only was the performance a disappointment but the crowd was terrible. There was continuous aggressive pushing and shoving all throughout the show. I was getting elbowed in my back, other girls were getting their hair pulled etc. And I was pretty sure 80% of the audience was high / drunk. And the act seemed like he was high too. I usually would never ever leave a concert early but this one was one I HAD to leave early. I didn’t see a point of staying if no one was able to enjoy the “music”. Overall I wish I never spent 2 and a half hours waiting in the cold for the biggest disappointment of my life.

It was good; although, I did expect more songs coming from him as he was only on stage around the time of 1hour and 10mins as the supporting acts were on for much longer. He sang 'Hot girl bummer' twice which I thought was a bit of a let down because I expected more of his other songs such as 'g2g ttyl','rich white girls' etc. I also thought the merch could of looked a bit better and the bag straps which I bought along with the T-shirt which was inside the bag which the overall total was £30 came of my shoulder due to it being to thin and not secure enough to stay on. This resulted me loosing the bag and t-shirt which I was very gutted about as you can imagine. I wish the strap of the bag would of been a bit more thicker so it doesn't slide off your shoulder. Is it possible if I get a refund of the money I spent due to paying for the merch as the whole experience wasn't what I actually expected from him as I am a big fan of his music. However, I am glad I finally got to see him in concert but overall, slightly let down.

Honestly, it was a really good show per se. Blackbear is a really nice guy and he can really put the audience in a good mood. I mean he kept us waiting for quite some time before coming to the stage, but it was fine. The only thing i want to "complain" about is the fact that at the end of the last song he literally just disappeared and didn't say thank you or goodbye whatsoever. The crowd waited for a long time for him to come back because nobody really thought that he was just gonna leave like that, but unfortunately he did. All in all it was great show and i enjoyed it a lot!! (Maybe next time say something at the end of your show, it seems rude to just leave.)

Crowd were very violent and people in front of me were constantly getting crushed by people pushing forward as they were against a barrier.

Mosh pits were not too violent.

Blackbear himself was good however did a rock version of a few songs including 90210 and it took us a while to figure out what song he was actually singing.

He was not very thankful of the crowd and actually disappeared off stage while nyla was playing so he clearly wasn’t singing that himself.

All in all it was a good experience.

I love blackbear tons, but I won't be going to another concert of his. The audience was hostile, mean, and dangerous, and the overall atmosphere did not create a good experience. He sang well, but performance was lacking finesse. Openers and show structure was odd and did not contribute to his show. Still love blackbear as an artist, but the stress of being at the show in that crazy audience (not in a good way) was too much to justify the performance you got from the tour.

We arrived at around 7 and the cue was all around the venue still, we got in the the venue at 7.45 and the was a wait until 9.15 till black bear actually came on, so the wait was abit much. Blackbear was amazing! We had the best night, he was amazing he had the crowd really engaged, everyone was jumping and singing along. We had a really good night!! Blackbear is amazing

nicole-kendall-3’s profile image

The concert overall was great. We arrived ca 20min before the doors opend and it started punctually. After the entry that was ca 30 min long , there was an hour long break where we just waited for blackbear to arrive and come on stage. He then proceeded to perform for about 50min.

But as I said before I think that it was worth it and it was a great experience overall.

Amazing concert, blackbear has great stage presence and energy, had the whole crowd dancing and singing along. Would def go see him again!! Love his music and him! As for the venue (The Trabendo, Paris) was super small and intimate, I was very close to the stage, so I could see super well, only bad thing was that it was standing room only, no seats anywhere.

Went to the concert for kygo and said that blackbear would be guesting there and I was totally stoked but went to the concert and waited for him to show but he never did but kygo and others were pretty amazing. I had always dreamt of seeing blackbear in concert but will see if anymore blackbear concerts are soon to be coming up near Toronto area.

Blackbear to Start “Nothing Matters Tour”

  • Dominique Kendus
  • July 20, 2022

Last week, alt singer-songwriter, blackbear announced his “nothing matters tour,” which is set to begin in September. The tour is produced by Live Nation and follows his forthcoming album, in loving memory.  Blackbear is currently performing 15 shows across North America, starting in Georgia and ending in Washington.

Tour After Tour

Blackbear announces the “nothing matters tour” on the heels of his stint as an opener for Machine Gun Kelly’s “The Mainstream Sellout Tour.” The pair have been longtime friends and collaborators, with blackbear featuring on MGK’s last two albums. Machine Gun Kelly also features on blackbear’s “gfy,” appearing on his forthcoming album.

Blackbear’s Openers

In loving memory  is set to release on August 26th, just weeks before the start of his tour. Blackbear’s first appearance is at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta. He also has stops in DC, Philadelphia, New York, Cincinatti, Las Vegas and more. Though fans are already drawn to his concerts alone, he’ll be joined by some talented guests. MOD SUN, State Champs, Waterparks and Heart Attack Man are joining the “nothing matters tour.”

Performances by MOD SUN, State Champs, and More

MOD SUN’s guest appearances are not surprising, considering the two have multiple songs together – some from many years back. He’ll most likely perform songs from his 2021 album,  Internet Killed the Rockstar. State Champs, formed in 2010, are a rock band native to New York. Fans are particularly excited to hear performances from their 2022 pop-punk project, Kings of the New Age.  Waterparks are a Texas-based rock band, and are expected to perform their latest album, Greatest Hits. Heart Attack Man, a pop-punk band from Cleveland, are highly anticipated. Fans are hopeful to hear tracks from their 2021 “Thoughts & Prayerz EP.”

“Nothing Matters Tour” Goes to Europe

After a busy year, blackbear is back on the road and pleasing fans all across North America. After his American stint, the alt artist will hop the pond to London and other European cities. There, emo-pop duo Hot Milk joins blackbear for his European leg. It’s apparent that the “nothing matters tour” is filled to the brim with talented artists and collaborators.

Blackbear’s  in loving memory drops August 26th, just in time for the “nothing matters tour.” To buy tickets, click here . Of course, be sure to check back to Music Daily frequently for updates on upcoming albums, tours, and artist information!

Review: Blackbear returns home to Los Angeles to finish off his fall 2022 Nothing Matters tour

  • Arts & Entertainment

blackbear tour opener

Talented singer, songwriter and producer Blackbear returned for another tour since his first headlining tour in 2019. He ended his 15-date tour in North America at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, Calif., on Sept. 26.

Blackbear’s sound cannot be defined by any specific genre, as each song has a different tune. If I had to describe it, I would classify it as pop, rock, emo, alternative, and even sprinkling in some R and B and hip-hop.

His supporting acts featured Heart Attack Man and Waterparks for the Nothing Matters Tour. The concert highlighted multi-platinum tracks like “idfc” and “hot girl bummer.”

Blackbear also performed his recent singles featuring Machine Gun Kelly, “gfy,” and “the idea” from his forthcoming album “in loving memory.”

The opening acts did well, exciting the crowd before Blackbear entered the scene. These two bands consisted of noisy pop-punk, alternative, rock and electric sounds. Their music fit the concert’s vibe and complemented the rest of the show well. The artists seemed to be grateful to be on tour with Blackbear. Before this concert in L.A., Blackbear had to cancel all shows the week leading up to his concert in Las Vegas, on Saturday, Sept. 24. This was due to some medical issues regarding his vocals.

He was placed on vocal rest by doctors. He shared the news via an Instagram story on Sept. 19, captioning, “In spite of the continuous medical effort, I’m extremely heartbroken to say that my vocal issues have not improved.

“I wholeheartedly apologize to everyone who worked so hard on this show and those who planned to attend.” Blackbear said. He clarified to his fans that refunds would be issued to them for the show and hoped that he would be able to sing in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Lucky for us, the Saturday show happened, and he could perform the rest of his tour. Considering the trauma his vocals had probably experienced and that he had to be on vocal rest, Blackbear did a fantastic job in performing and singing.

His opening to the concert was something I had never experienced before. It started with flashing lights, guitar solos and a robot voice almost like Siri talking. The voice ended by saying, “nothing matters” before the guitars started, and Blackbear came out singing one of his well-known songs, “me and ur ghost” from the album “everything means nothing,” followed by “queen of broken hearts” from the same album.

Many of the songs played were his older songs from previous albums to which the entire crowd sang along. Blackbear played his song, “idfc” from his album “dead roses,” and songs from his EP “dead” were played twice. He played one right after the other because one was the original version, and the second was a newer version.

This song was one from his roots, and I think it was memorable for everyone to sing it along with him. During the show, he stated how happy he was to be back in LA to perform as LA is where his entire career began.

As someone who found him from one of his most popular songs, “idfc,” which has been streamed nearly 6,000,000 times and is still No. 4 on his Spotify most played, I found this moment during the concert very personal with his fans, and the small theater made it feel all the more intimate.

Blackbear also played more of his popular songs like “chateau” and “i miss the old you”, and even brought up three fans from the pit to sing on stage with him. He also played “dirty laundry.”

Although the concert showcased songs from his earlier albums, he did play a select few from his recent albums, like “back in rehab” from “in loving memory.” Blackbear mentioned during the show that the song had not been performed for anyone yet, so the L.A. fans were the first to hear it. “Poltergeist” from his newest album, and my personal favorite, was the last song that Blackbear performed.

I do wish he played more songs from his newest album because no one has heard those songs performed live yet, and I think it is one of his best albums. It was still fantastic to hear all the songs I had listened to in the past come to life in front of me with flashing lights of colors and excellent visual graphics submerging an entire theater of screaming fans who were singing and enjoying themselves and the songs.

Although his music is not for everyone, I think concert experiences are some of the best ways to spend time with people and to hear music and artists perform their songs and bring them to life.

Machine Gun Kelly ‘s summer tour, which was announced Monday morning, won’t lack for starry support, as the headliner has set a lineup of guests for different dates on the arena trek that will include Avril Lavigne , Willow , Blackbear and his producer, Travis Barker .

Others joining him along the way include Trippie Redd, Iann Dior, PVRIS and 44phantom, with a selection of two of the aforementioned artists opening at nearly all the 52 shows.

The American leg of the tour will last for just over two months, starting June 8 in Austin and wrapping up Aug. 13 in Cleveland. Nearly all the shows are slated for arenas or amphitheaters, but that last show in the U.S. will be the biggest, due to it taking place in Machine Gun Kelly’s hometown, with Cleveland’s ballpark, First Energy Stadium, as the setting.

About a month later, on Sept. 17, the tour picks up in Europe, starting in Cologne, running for nearly a month before concluding Oct. 12 in Amsterdam. Between the U.S. and European legs, the tour is set to hit 52 cities in all.

Popular on Variety

The tour news precedes by four days the release of MGK’s new album, “Mainstream Sellout,” after which the outing is named.

Although he’ll have two openers along the way at most stops, he’s pulling out all the stops for his Cleveland show, where four artists — Lavigne, Barker, Redd and 44phantom — are all listed as support acts.

When he plays L.A.’s Forum midway through the U.S. leg on July 15, his openers will be Lavigne and Willow. In New York, when MGK plays Madison Square Garden on June 28, it’ll be Lavigne and Diorr.

As previously announced, he’ll be making one festival stop, at Bonnaroo June 19.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time at Ticketmaster.com . (An exception is the MSG show, which will be on sale at noon that day.)

The Black Keys

The Black Keys have abruptly canceled their upcoming North American tour .

The 31-date arena trek — which was scheduled to launch Sept. 17 in Tulsa, Okla., and wrap Nov. 12 in Detroit — quietly disappeared from Ticketmaster’s website without explanation on Friday (May 24).

Nicki minaj announces rescheduled manchester concert following amsterdam arrest.

The Black Keys have also removed the upcoming North American tour dates from their website , except for a lone appearance at Chicago’s NASCAR Street Race on July 6.

Billboard reached out to the Black Keys’ representatives for comment.

On Sunday, the band posted an update on X (formerly Twitter) in the afternoon, writing, “The band wants to assure everyone that Dan & Patrick are alive and well.”

They continued, “Following the recent run of shows in the UK & Europe, including stops at iconic venues like Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris, we have decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour that will enable us to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly.”

“Everyone who had purchased tickets and/or VIP to the initial tour dates will be fully refunded – and when the new plans are announced, will be the first to be able to buy tickets. Thank you for your understanding and apologies for the surprise change… We’re pretty sure everyone is going to be excited when you see what we have in mind though, and look forward to seeing everyone soon,” the update said.

The tour news arrives on the heels of Black Keys’ appeared on NBC’s The Voice , where members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney performed their song “Beautiful People (Stay High).” The pair also recently completed the European leg of their tour in mid-May.

CARLSBAD, California – Only a dozen players broke par Friday at Omni La Costa’s North Course, and the majority of those who accomplished the feat in the opening round of the NCAA Championship significantly improved their projected finish in the 2024 PGA TOUR University Ranking.

In a tie for third, Stanford University senior Karl Vilips opened with a bogey-free 3-under 69, leaving him one stroke behind Ohio State University’s Adam Wallin in solo second, and two strokes behind the outright leader, Georgia Tech sophomore Hiroshi Tai. Vilips, who entered the week ranked No. 14, projects to move into the top 10 and take over the No. 7 spot.

Mats Ege, a redshirt senior for East Tennessee State University, carded a 1-under 71 and finished the day in a five-way tie for eighth place. Ege entered the week ranked No. 11, but cracked the top 10 and moved up to No. 9 in the updated projection following Friday’s first round.

With a 2-under 70, Baylor University redshirt senior John Keefer ended the evening in a three-way tie for fifth. Keefer entered the week ranked No. 29, and moved into the projected top 25 (No. 22) with his strong opening round.

Georgia Tech’s Christo Lamprecht, who entered the week ranked No. 2, can only pass top-ranked Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford with a win, plus a finish outside the top 10 for Thorbjornsen. Lamprecht opened in 2-under 70, bouncing back from a double bogey at the par-3 12th, his third hole of the day, with five birdies and joined Keefer in the three-way T5. Thorbjornsen battled to a 2-over 74 (and T41 on the leaderboard), which included three bogeys and a double bogey at the par-5 10th.

Mother bear euthanized after swiping at a hiker in Colorado

FILE - Houses dot the landscape, Aug. 3, 2022, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. A mother black bear...

DENVER (AP) — A mother black bear swiped at a Colorado hiker Tuesday, sending them to the ground where they got scrapes on their arms but were able to finish their walk before getting first aid, according to a statement from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

After the attack in Steamboat Springs, a ritzy ski resort town about three hours northwest of Denver, wildlife officials trapped the bear and two of three cubs Wednesday afternoon.

The sow was “humanely euthanized” and the cubs were released per the agency’s policy, which is to kill bears that have attacked humans or are an immediate threat, the agency said. They added that the yearling cubs are no longer dependent on their mother to find food and fend for themselves.

The hiker said they had seen a cub in the area before being getting knocked to the ground from behind.

Wildlife officials wrote: “If you see a bear don’t run. Stand still, stay calm, and slowly back away until the bear is out of sight. If you see cubs, their mother is usually close by. Leave the area immediately to give them space.”

Steamboat Springs, nestled in the Rocky Mountains, is known for its bear activity.

Two years ago, a Colorado man awoke to a roughly 400-pound (181-kilogram) bear rummaging through some dog food in his home. The man grabbed and gun and  shot the bear  until it collapsed and died.
