Caribbean cruises have long been a favorite with travelers for their picture-postcard attributes. White sand beaches front turquoise waters. But these tropical itineraries have something for every type of traveler. Activities abound—perhaps it’s shopping on one island, hiking through nature reserves and snorkeling among coral reefs on another, or having a beach day on a cruise company’s private retreat. Many Caribbean itineraries skew toward tried-and-true standards, but a number of cruise lines will have a handful of unique sailings put together for particular tastes or the seasoned cruiser who has already tried them all.

Itinerary: Sunny Beaches & Emerald Forests

Departure: March 11, 2023

Experience: This 10-night sailing from Miami embarks on Regent Seven Seas' newest ship, Seven Seas Splendor , for a leisurely sail through the Caribbean’s windward isles. Hike to waterfalls in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, explore Puerto Rico’s El Yunque National Forest, or relax on a sailboat excursion off minute St. Barts , which Splendor is right-sized to visit. Take an aerial tram through the rainforest canopy on St. Lucia or snorkel Champagne Reef on Dominica, watching bubbles and warmth rise from geothermal activity beneath the ocean floor. Itinerary: Panama, Colombia, & Caribbean Islands

Experience: Voyage from the gates of the Panama Canal to the French West Indies, with a wealth of diversity in between. Experience Afro-Caribbean heritage in Portobelo, Panama, and Indigenous Kuna fishing communities in the San Blas Islands. Next, it’s on to Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, and then the coral reefs of Bonaire for diving. The spices of Grenada and St. Lucia’s volcanic pitons round out the itinerary before the intimately appointed ship Le Bellot (with fewer than 92 staterooms and suites) anchors in the turquoise waters of Fort-de-France for a fond farewell.

Departure: December 11, 2023

Experience: Offering a little of everything, this 11-night roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale includes calls at cobblestoned Cartagena, Colombia, the white-sand beaches of Aruba, and the famous colonial houses and swinging drawbridge of Curaçao. As an added bonus, Grand Cayman and Falmouth, Jamaica, also appear as ports to help break up the long journey south from Florida. The sailing takes place onboard the brand-new Celebrity Beyond , packed full of original art, Infinite Veranda staterooms—so-named for the floor-to-ceiling windows that open into a private balcony at the push of a button—and ocean-going gastronomy at Le Voyage, Chef Daniel Boulud’s first signature restaurant at sea.

Itinerary: Windward Ways & Tobago Cays

Departure: January, February, November, and December 2023

Experience: Almost purpose-designed for cruisers who prefer their shore excursions to be on or in the water, this seven-day sailing onboard Windstar's Star Legend starts in the Dutch islands, offering up serene Aruba’s white-sand beaches and tranquil Bonaire’s 50 species of coral. “Isle of Spice” Grenada is next (nutmeg ice cream is a must-try), followed by spectacular vistas of the Grand Pitons on “seven times French; seven times British” St. Lucia. Mayreau is the smallest of the Grenadines—here cruisers can enter the water directly from Star Legend’s water-sports platform, then wind up the day with a private beach barbecue.

Itinerary: Eastern Caribbean Antilles

Experience: St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands is a less-trafficked port of call known as the “Garden of the Antilles” and Valiant Lady drops in during her Eastern Caribbean sailings, in addition to San Juan , Puerto Plata, and a day at Virgin’s lounge-y Beach Club at Bimini private island. Experience: Part Caribbean surf, part jungle excursion, this 11-day roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale onboard Eurodam calls first at Aruba and Curaçao for a taste of Holland America Line’s namesake Dutch culture before skirting the coast of South America for several days of scenic cruising the Panama Canal and Gatun Lake, taking in the maximum biodiversity (over 500 species of birds) of the Canal Zone, juxtaposed with the engineering wonders of the lock system.

Summer of firsts: royal caribbean all in on 2023 seasonal caribbean cruises.

MIAMI, Dec. 16, 2021 – Royal Caribbean International today revealed the 2023 seasonal Caribbean cruises that will make waves with a summer of firsts. Wonder of the Seas , debuting in March 2022, headlines the lineup with its first U.S. summer from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida. The new, innovative ship will be joined by the amplified Mariner of the Seas, while Harmony of the Seas calls Miami its summer home for the first time. The bold lineup is rounded out by the first Oasis Class summer in Galveston, Texas, with Allure of the Seas slated for a full season at the cruise line’s new, $125 million terminal. Summer 2023 Caribbean cruises are now open , with more Caribbean getaways to be revealed early next year.

Families and travelers of all ages can have their pick of short, 5-night cruises and 7- to 8-night sailings that feature idyllic destinations in Bermuda and the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean. The vibrant, tropical places they visit from April through October 2023 include Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao ( ABC islands ), Puerto Rico , Mexico, St. Kitts and Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas .

Whichever itinerary beckons travelers, a day of thrill and chill on Perfect Day at CocoCay will be among the highlights on most sailings from Florida. • Allure of the Seas – Cruising from: Galveston Vacationers have the Lone Star State’s biggest summer ever on the horizon when Allure becomes the first Oasis Class ship to call Galveston home for the season. Just in time for summer family vacations, Royal Caribbean has extended Allure’s big Texas debut in winter 2022-2023 and opened a lineup of 7-night Western Caribbean cruises. Travelers can set their sights on more ways and time to get away to the tropics, including destinations like Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico ; and Roatan, Honduras. Allure will continue to set sail from Royal Caribbean’s new, $125 million terminal, which opens its doors in October 2022. The 161,334-square-foot and LEED-certified terminal, built in partnership with Galveston Wharves, will make way for Galveston to welcome the cruise line’s globally renowned Oasis Class – the world’s largest cruise ships – for the first time.
• Wonder of the Seas – Cruising from: Port Canaveral Following the world’s largest cruise ship’s debut in 2022, the cruise line keeps the good times rolling for vacationers. Wonder will sail its first summer in the U.S. from Port Canaveral, extending its newly announced 2022 winter season that starts in November. The adventure to be found in the new, innovative ship’s eight action-packed neighborhoods, including an Oasis Class first – the Suite Neighborhood – extends to the destinations in store on the 7-night Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises . Kingstown is best appreciated for its West Indian feel rather than for any grand attractions. It's a good place to relax and stroll the cobblestone streets. Bridgetown is the southernmost port on the island of Barbados and its capital. The beaches are plentiful, as is the seafood. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and diving in the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean or try your hand at a local cricket match.

Expect to be immediately immersed in the French Caribbean way of life. The largest, Marche St. Antoine, at the corner of Rues Frebault and Peynier, teems with activity all day long, with tropical produce and spices in madras bags sold by very vocal market women.

Originally established as a British settlement in the 17th century, Antigua certified its independence in 1981. Today, it is a vastly popular oasis, famed for its spectacular climate and 366 pristine beaches. You only have one chance to sail this brand-new cruise ship in the Caribbean

Sun-seekers, meet Star Seeker. One of the cruise industry's most anticipated new high-end ships is set to debut at the end of next year, and you'll only have one chance to catch it in the Caribbean.

Windstar Cruises ' Star Seeker — a new 224-passenger vessel that's the line's first new-build in nearly 40 years — will begin sailing in December 2025. Its primary focus will be voyages in Alaska and Japan — two regions where Windstar hasn't had a presence since 2023. Before the ship permanently relocates to those two regions, it will offer a brief series of cruises in the Caribbean, providing passengers an exclusive three-month window to try out the ship in more beachy destinations.

For a short period from Jan. 15, 2026, through the end of April 2026, Star Seeker has scheduled a mix of Caribbean itineraries. These can either be booked as Caribbean-only segments or as longer voyages that combine three regions — the Caribbean, the Panama Canal and Alaska — for a more distinct experience.

"I'm really excited we'll be able to sail the new Star Seeker in the Caribbean before the ship continues on to its final destinations of Alaska and Japan," Christopher Prelog, Windstar president, said in a statement from the line. "Star Seeker will likely not return to the Caribbean again, so it's a wonderful but fleeting chance for our Caribbean destination fans to experience the ship."

Prelog said passengers on select Caribbean sailings aboard the new vessel will also have access to exclusive celebratory experiences. This includes a sunset sailing parade past the pitons in St. Lucia after Star Seeker meets up in the region with sister ships Wind Spirit and Star Pride.

The Caribbean sailings will range from seven to 14 days. They will depart from San Juan, Puerto Rico, visiting ports of call in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, as well as St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Bequia, St. Lucia and more.

From May through August 2026, the ship will remain in Alaska after its final Caribbean-to-Alaska voyage. From there, it will run two main types of itineraries. The seven- and eight-night one-way runs between Vancouver, Canada, and Juneau, Alaska, including Misty Fjords, Ketchikan, Sitka and Haines. The longer 10-, 11- and 12-night voyages between Vancouver and Anchorage will stop at Ketchikan, Misty Fjords, Klawock, Wrangell, Haines, Juneau, Sitka and Seward (the port for Anchorage).

In September 2026, the vessel will cross the Pacific Ocean and relocate to Japan to resume Windstar's popular Grand Japan voyages for the first time in three years. Guests booked on these itineraries can expect to travel between Yokohama (the port for Tokyo) and either Osaka or Kobe with calls on ports like Shimizu, Shingu, Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Karatsu, Hiroshima and Takamatsu.

Although Windstar's ships feel upscale, the niche small-ship line's fares are not all-inclusive. You'll pay extra for things like alcohol, shore excursions and Wi-Fi. What you can expect, though, is an intimate onboard vibe with great service, delicious food and elegantly appointed accommodations.

In addition to Star Seeker, the line operates a fleet of six other vessels . They fall into two categories: ships with sails and ships without them. Currently, the line has three of each. When Star Seeker debuts as the fleet's seventh ship (the fourth without sails), it will fall somewhere in the middle in terms of passenger count. The others carry anywhere from 148 to 342 passengers. Windstar plans to acquire an eighth ship, also with no sails, in 2026.

Star Seeker was originally under construction for Atlas Ocean Voyages . Windstar purchased the partially completed ship after Atlas abandoned the project.

The maiden voyage for 9,315-ton Star Seeker will depart Dec. 28, 2025, from Malaga, Spain, featuring a transatlantic crossing and a call on Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands for a New Year's Eve party before arriving in Miami. An eight-day christening voyage will take passengers from Miami to San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Jan. 15, 2026; it will include visits to ports in the Dominican Republic and British Virgin Islands.
