The furniture is antique, there is a flacon of sherry on the desk and the cooked breakfast was top class.

Wenlock Studios

This was our second stay at Wenlock studios. This time we stayed in Walton apartment. The plus side is that Walton has a parking space right outside the front door. The facilities are excellent, spotless and well thought out, the property is warm and cozy, the bed was very comfortable. Wenlock studios are a mini home from home. Much Wenlock is a fabulous base to travel and see beautiful Shropshire. I highly recommend staying in one of these apartments.

Fishmore Hall Hotel and Boutique Spa

Good location on the outskirts of beautiful Ludlow a great place from which to explore the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The hotel provides a good level of comfort and first class food. Both evening meals were excellent, the first from the a la carte menu the second from a well balanced tasting menu both providing delicious and tasty food with portion sizes just right. The staff were very pleasant

Bridge View Guest House

The view of the infamous Iron Bridge was stunning, especially at night along with the Christmas lights. The rooms had a lot of extras, such as wine, pieces of cake and with a well stocked fridge with water and fruit juice. I have stayed in hotels that offer less than this Bed and Breakfast. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in this beautiful part of Shropshire.

Birchwood House

As we were there to walk the Shropshire Hills, the location was good for exploring the area and was a few minutes walk to local amenities. The apartment was lovely with a kitchenette, large bathroom with both bath and shower. Everything you could possibly need was provided and it was immaculate. The breakfast choice was amazing, with a very accommodating and attentive host.

The Golden Lion Inn

The central location of the hotel/pub was excellent. The Shropshire Suite was tucked away in a nice quiet area and even had its own courtyard table and chairs, which were nice for an evening drink. The room was spacious and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were on hand throughout the stay and were incredibly polite and approachable.

Located in the heart of Church Stretton, the Bucks Head Hotel manages to pack a lot of rural charm into a relatively small building. The new owners of the hotel have taken great strides to improve it since they took over management from the previous proprietor. Overall, a great place to stay if you’re looking to explore the Shropshire area.

Mynd Hotel was outstanding. The room we had was lovely. Staff were brilliant. So enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is so well situated, public houses just down the road, where the food is outstanding. The area of Shropshire hills beautiful, the views are great. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back. Pam and Jon

The Talbot Hotel

The Talbot Hotel is Historic family run hotel in a quiet village set amidst the Shropshire hills. The atmosphere is very friendly and bed very comfortable. The cooked breakfast was great and they got us oat milk specially. This was Very good value and we enjoyed our stay. We hope to return again on another visit.

Gaskell Arms

Hotel in Much Wenlock

The Gaskell Arms is an excellent location for exploring Shropshire as Much Wenlock is a good place to be based. We stayed for four nights and found both breakfast and dinner every night excellent with lots of choice and enjoyed every meal. The staff were friendly and very obliging.

NiCheGetaway

Great location in Shrewsbury, allowing for easy travel to many parts of Shropshire and North Wales. Also close to Birmingham and other Midlands cities and towns. Well appointed one bedroom apartment, with large living and diy room, large bathroom and comfortable bedroom.

Spacious first floor apartment in the centre of Church Stretton with free parking

Great location in Church Stretton; easy access to shops and pubs. The rail station was a five minute walk from the accommodation. The apartment is quiet and spacious. Overall, it was a great place for us to stay for a week while we explored Shropshire and Wales.

Lucea Cottage

Craven Arms

It was nice to have a full kitchen for cooking after a month of travelling. The apartment is clean and cute and the bed is comfortable. Its a short walk to a large grocery store and the must see Shropshire Discovery Center.

Sweeney Hall Hotel

Great location for exploring Shropshire and Wales. Hotel has great food and cocktails. Lovely outdoor seating and drinking areas around the hotel. The cottage has a fantastic dog friendly enclosed garden.

Moreton Park Hotel

Proximity to my trip to good road network for travel in Shropshire and Wrexham. Comfortable bed and spacious room. Underfloor heating in bathroom . A basic, clean hotel room.

138a Old Star & Garter

Great location for exploring Ludlow and the Shropshire Way. Apartment was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Host was very welcoming and informative.

The Castle Hotel

Bishops Castle

Wonderfully quirky and characterful hotel in the beautiful Shropshire country town of Bishops Castle. Staff were helpful and friendly and breakfast was delicious.

Fallow Field, Telford by Marston's Inns

Probably the best valve a hotel in Shropshire, and I've stayed at many. The food was excellent too. The accommodation was and is always clean and modern.

Westwood Lodge

Lovely comfortable apartment with everything you need. Set in beautiful countryside and a perfect position for exploring Shropshire.

Lion Quays Resort

Spa The Waterside breakfast is really nice, lots of options and the Shropshire fry up was fabulous and restaurant very clean.

Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.

And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Hotels in the countryside with walks from the door; hotels in the centre of traditional market towns, full of independent shops and black and white buildings; hotels near castles, stately homes, beautiful gardens and the finest English Heritage and National Trust properties England has to offer.

Look no further than Shropshire for your next short break. Or to be more precise, look no further than one of our Shropshire County Hotels and Inns.

Each of our members knows just how important your time away is – whether you’re staying for a short break or longer. Shropshire Hills

Where to start?

For the uninitiated it can be a case of ‘where to start’? If food is your thing then  Ludlow  won’t disappoint; as Shropshire’s gastronomic capital the gourmet restaurants are supported by the numerous delis, restaurants, cafes and food markets, all serving quality local food and not forgetting the famous  Ludlow Food Festival .

Real ales fans  gravitate towards  Bishops Castle  as the place to be seen and with several micro breweries, including the famous Three Tuns and more pubs than a town this size should really have, it’s easy to see why.

Walkers will find that  Church Stretton  and  Craven Arms  provide a genuine welcome and an equally great springboard into the Shropshire Hills. Then there is  Clun , immortalised by A.E. Housman in his Shropshire Lad and  Cleobury Mortimer  with its amazing twisted spire.

Visit  Much Wenlock  and the museum to learn about the town’s history and sporting heritage, particularly the Olympic Games.

An explore through this website will give you the very best south Shropshire  accommodation ,  hotels ,  self catering cottages ,  B&Bs  and  inns ,  events  and festivals and plenty of entertaining things to do and see.

One thing is for sure about the  Shropshire Hills  – one visit will not be enough to take it all in!

Embark on an extraordinary half-term adventure at the enchanting Hawkstone Park Follies! 🌲✨ This hidden gem invites you to explore a sprawling landscape filled with magical surprises. Hawskstone Park Follies are offering 50% off general admission from February 9th to 18th, making it the perfect opportunity to uncover the mysteries that await. Set in 100 acres of Parkland The Follies is a range of dramatic and rugged natural sandstone hills that were developed to include gullies, caves, towers and bridges, becoming one of the most visited landscapes in Britain during the 19th Century. However, throughout the 20th Century this romantic landscape became forgotten, overgrown and ruinous, unvisited by all but the locals. Now recognised as a Masterpiece of the School of Naturalistic Landscape and designated as a Grade I listed landscape by English Heritage, this magical and exhilarating landscape had a new lease of life with a multi-million pound restoration project enabling it to reopen to visitors in 1993. Overgrown but never fully forgotten, pathways were cleared, gullies reopened and handrails reinstalled to allow visitors to enjoy the spectacular views and surprises that The Follies reveals around every corner. Friends of the Follies can also enjoy special annual pass upgrade offers available at the gate, ensuring that the magic doesn`t end after one visit! Ready for an immersive experience where you can adventure, explore, and discover?
