The serial number is a unique set of characters assigned to each radio. It is the only way to identify a radio unit and calculate it's code.

The serial can be found on the case side label or in some cases, on the screen. To see the details, confirm if you have any of the models listed below or none.

• Turn on the radio so that you can read "Code". If you read "Enter code" instead, see Exception case
• Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 for three seconds. With this, your unit starts scrolling different info for thirty seconds.

To find the serial number of your Sony:

• Turn ON your radio
• Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 for several seconds to enter in service mode, time in which different info displays for 30 seconds.
• The serial number is displayed next to last, with this format: SOCD1XBV123456

Turn on your 4500 RDS unit and hold down buttons 2 and 6 until you see the serial number appear. Example: M123456

The serial number of any Ford radio model can be found on the label attached to the radio box. To see this label, you must partially remove the radio.

How to remove: All radios have four extraction holes at sides. These are designed for use with extraction keys that we can order on Amazon or eBay. However, we can also remove it using something like four nails or the wire of a crushed hanger. How to remove a radio without special tools

Some 6000 CD units doesn't display the serial on the screen but all of them have their serial number written on the box label, which becomes visible when the radio is removed. To remove yours, you need the special removal keys, which you can find on Amazon or Ebay by searching for "6000 cd removal tools".

• Turn on the radio so that you can read "Enter code"
• Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 for a few seconds
• The serial number appears on the screen like this: FDD2004V123456
• Turn on the radio
• Press and hold buttons 1 and 6
• Different information begins to appear. The serial number appears last in this format: V plus six digits. Example: V102021

Some units display the serial differently. In the last ten seconds, identify and copy the sequence that comes after "SN" and starts like this: "FDMCA1EV1234". Besides, the two digits (i.e. "56") that are visible in the sequence next are also necessary. The full serial number would look like this: FDMCA1EV123456

How To Find Your Serial Number

Ford Travelpilot NX 2012-2015

The removal of the radio is required to access the serial number and part number for Ford Traveilpilot Radios. It is quite simple to remove your Ford radio. You will need a set of radio release keys (PC5-132) . These are inexpensive and are around  £3 - £5 , you can obtain them from Amazon.

Once you have the radio release keys, push them into the 4 holes in each corner of the radio (See image), apply a little pressure and the radio will release from the dashboard. The radios label will be located on the radio's casing.

Ford Travelpilot FX 2008-2011

Following the advice from the last slide, your Ford Travelpilot FX radio will need to be removed to access the serial number and part number. The removal tools you need will also be the same to remove the radio.

Ford Travelpilot EX 2004-2007

And again, with the older Travelpilot EX radios, the removal process is the same as the newer models. You'll need some release keys and a screwdriver/prying tool for the plastic panels.

Locating the Serial on the Label

Ford Travelpilot serial numbers begin  BP/C7  for example  BP 1234 A 567891  or  C73F0961 C 0536857 . This information is printed on the sticker label on the back, though it can sometimes be compressed into the metal casing of the stereo.

We also require the part number, like it's highlighted in the picture, which often looks like this - 7 612 330 961 .

First of all, you should find the serial number of your car radio to unlock it using our calculator.

You can read the radio unit serial number from the metal plate attached to the back or even on one of your car radio sides.

Removing the radio from the dashboard is fairly easy using a set of Ford Radio Release Keys which you can buy from a local car accessories shop or a Halfords store.

• You will find four small holes on the front left and right of the radio, insert the radio release keys into the slots until they are in place (you should feel a click).
• Once the radio release keys are in pull the radio out.
• Please note that the radio will have the power adapter and antenna plugged in so you may have to unplug them to see the serial number.
• On most models of Ford CD players, the serial number beginning with M or V will be printed on a Ford label.

Locating the serial number

The serial number is all that is needed to calculate the code for your Ford radio. In this list, you can find the exact instructions on how to find it based on your model.

Ford 6000 CD

• Turn on the radio.
• Hold down the number buttons 1 and 6. You can stop pressing them once something appears on the screen.
• The number is only displayed for one second at the end of the cycle you just started. A valid serial number always begins with the letter V (V Series) or M (M Series), followed by 6 digits. Taking a video with the mobile would help you see it.
• If instead of starting a cycle, your radio shows a piece of unique information that begins with the letters "FD", then that is the number to get the radio code. Example: FDC2005M123456
• If you cannot see your number it is because many 6000 CD units do not show the series on the screen. If this is your case, you have to go to method 2.

Removing a 6000 CD unit only takes 30 seconds, but removal keys are required. You can approach a mechanic and ask him to do it for you or buy your own keys. If you are from the UK, you can get these keys here: Removal tool keys . Whatever your country, you can find them by searching for "Ford 6000 CD removal keys". Some people choose to take out the radio with the wrong keys, as you can see in this video: Remove radio without keys . You have to be careful with this type of method so as not to damage the radio.

Ford 6000 CD New

• Turn the radio on.
• Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 for a few seconds.
• Be aware of the data shown on the screen.
• Identify the serial number with the format: V123456
• Sometimes, the serial number comes like this FDMCA1CV1234 + next 2 digits in the next screen.

6000CD RDS EON

It is required to remove your 6000CD RDS unit to find the serial number. You can get the removal tools from Amazon for a few pounds (if you live in the UK). 6000 CD removal keys . Once you have removed the radio, find the serial by looking for M123456 format.

Ford 4500 RDS E-O-N

• Be aware at the data is starting scrolling in the screen.
• Identify the serial number by looking for this format SOCD6X7V123456 .

If your Sony radio is from 2008 or a later model, you can retrieve the serial number by pressing and holding buttons 1 and 6 for several seconds. This action prompts the radio to enter diagnosis mode for thirty seconds, displaying various information. The serial number, in the format "SOCD1X7V123456", will appear at the end of this sequence. USE S/N: "V123456" to generate your code

Unfortunately, the Sony CD132 unit doesn't show the serial number on the screen, so we are forced to remove it to find the serial. You can gen the removing tools from Amazon for a few pounds if you live in UK for example Ford removal keys . Once you have removed the radio, find the serial by looking for M123456 format.

Ford TravelPilot Navi

If you possess a Travelpilot EX, FX, or NX navigation system, you must remove it to locate the serial number. For EX and NX models, specialized removal tools are required, while for the FX model, a screwdriver and a plastic tool can be used to remove the surrounding panel covering the screws. Examples of TravelPilot - Blaupunkt serial numbers: C7E3A09A1234567, BP0500A1234567

Any other model

If you don't have one of the Ford radio models mentioned above, then you can find the serial on the label attached to the radio case. To see this label you must remove the radio from the centre of the console.

Can anyone out there help me.  My Mondeo is fitted with a Blaupunkt Travelpilot ex and I wasn't supplied with a manual for this. I have managed to figure out most of how it works but I still need a manual and can't find one anywhere.  Blaupunkt U.K. don't have any information and I have tried what seems like a hundred website addresses, all without success. Even my local  ( and very helpful ) Ford main dealer is at a loss. If anyone has a manual and can photocopy this for me I will pay, willingly.   Thank you in anticipation.

The serial number will have no benefit to finding the manual. The description of the model should be sufficient, alternatively post a picture if you want to show the exact model you have.

Serial numbers of head units are removed for 1) Security reasons, 2) They can be used to generate radio codes which are not permitted for request on the forum.

How do I find the serial number?

Ford 6000CD Mk2 Radio

Instant generated code!

Start by holding down pre-set buttons 1 & 6 together. Mk2 Radios will cycle through various different panels of information on-screen. Your serial will begin with “V” followed by six digits, for example, the serial number could be "V055350"

Ford 6000CD Radio

The serial number is the first thing you need to generate your Ford radio code. You can obtain this by pressing and holding buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously while the radio is on. A code cycle will then be initiated. You are looking for a serial starting with the letter V followed by 6 digits this will be displayed towards the end of the cycle. You might see some of the serial on one screen for example V0553 ond then 50 on the next screen if the serial happens to be separated over two screen cycles. In this case, you will need to combine them to get the full serial number.

Ford Sony CD132 Radio

If you have a Sony Radio as shown in the image, you will need to remove the radio in order to get to the serial number. It is quite simple to remove your Ford Sony radio. You will need a set of radio release keys (PC5-132). These are inexpensive and are around £3 - £5, you can obtain them from Amazon. Once you have the radio release keys, push them into the 4 holes in each corner of the radio (See image), apply a little pressure and the radio will release from the dashboard. The radios label will be located on the radio's casing.

Ford Sony MP3 Radio

By holding down the preset buttons 1 and 6 for several seconds, you will be able to retrieve your Ford Sony MP3 serial number from the screen. This will result in the display flipping through various information panes. Commonly, it could be disorientating when retrieving the serial number due to the screen separating the information when it cycles through. It can say the first half of the serial and then the rest will follow on the next pane. Occasionally, Ford Sony radios do not display the serial number on the screen. In this case, the removal of the radio from the dash is required, which can be accomplished with a plastic prying tool and a screwdriver. You'll need the prying tool to remove the panels from around the radio and the screwdriver for the screws underneath. There are YouTube guides on how to remove your Sony radio if you need additional support. Serial Example: SN SOCD6X7V055350

Ford Travelpilot EX Radio

The Travelpilot EX model is similar to a 6000CD radio, however, the radio serial number cannot be obtained on the screen. You will need to remove the radio to get the information from the side/back of the radio. You can remove the radio using radio release keys, which are inexpensive tools you can order from Amazon

Ford Fiesta 4500 RDS

Turn on the radio unit so that you read "CODE" on the screen. Hold down buttons 2 and 6 for three seconds. The serial number appears on the screen in this format: M123456.

If you are lucky, the first method will work!

All you have to do is simultaneously press buttons 1 and 6 or 2 and 6 on your car radio. Data will be displayed on your screen for about half a minute. Wait until the serial number is displayed. It usually starts with the letter M or V and is then followed by 6 digits (for example M217382 or V921828). You can also find another type of serial number which starts with C7E followed by 14 characters.

Note that we can't retrieve all car radio codes! Only if the serial number starts with M , V , or C7E .

If the first method does not work, then you'll have to remove the car radio from the dashboard in order to read the serial number on the sticker.

If I can't find the serial number in the menu, I need to remove the car radio and read the sticker .

Where to find the serial number

6000 cd radio.

Option 1: Find serial on screen

Turn your 6000 CD unit switch to ON and then press and hold buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously for three seconds. The stereo toggle different information for 30 seconds, but we are only interested in the last data it shows. Taking a video with the mobile will help to see better what's displayed last. The serial starts with a V letter, followed by six digits. Example: V123003 . Sometimes, you can see something like this: FDD2004M123456 ; it is also a valid serial. If none of these is displayed, see the following method.

Option 2: Find serial on rear label

Using the extraction tools like these , use the four extraction holes to pull out the radio unit. You can see how to use the keys in this video . If the extraction keys are unavailable in your country, you can remove the radio using homemade tools, as explained in this youtube tutorial . Once out, locate the serial on the label attached to the case aside. A valid identification number starts with the letter V or M, followed by six digits. Example: V032009 or M329801 .

Turn on your 6000 cd unit, after which you press and hold buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously for three seconds. On-screen different information starts scrolling for 30 seconds. The serial number displays the last starting with the V letter + 6 digits. Example: V128391 .

RDS E-O-N Cassete & CD

All older 2004 models have the serial number located on the label attached to the side of the radio. These models have a serial number M. Example: M389381 . To see this label, remove the radio using a removal key like these on Amazon .

You can find the serial number by turning on the radio and holding down buttons 1 and 6. Different type of info appears on the screen, including the number we are looking for. Take a video with your mobile of all this information. Identify the serial number which starts with SOCD. Example: SOCDX1BV202911 . Use this identification number as is to calculate your keycode.

4500 RDS E-O-N

Press the Power button to turn on the radio, and when the CODE message appears, simultaneously press buttons 2 and 6. You can see the serial number on the screen in this format: M129289 . You can see how to exactly proceed in this step by stem video . Otherwise, if the number starts with B, be sure to press 2 and 6 and not buttons 1 and 6.

Navigations EX, FX and NX

The id number of a Ford navigation is always inscribed on the label attached to the side of the box. This sticker is not simply visible, and you must remove the navigation from the centre of the console to be able to see it. The Ford radio code input may be confusing for some models such as 6000 CD or 4500 RDS E-O-N. If you have one of these, follow the instructions:

• Turn your stereo switch to ON and ensure you can read 'CODE' 'Enter Code' or 'Enter Keycode'.
• Repeatedly press button 1 until you see the first digit of the code.
• Do the same with the remaining three digits of the code.
• Confirm the code by holding button 5 for a few seconds.
• The radio should start working.

⚠️ If "WAIT 30" error appears on the screen, that means that the code you have entered is incorrect. To enter another code, leave the unit ON for thirty minutes.

⚠️ If you enter the wrong code for ten times, the radio gets locked with the message "LOCKED" or "LOCKED 10" on screen. You can get another three attempts by holding down button 6 for ten seconds. If you exhaust these three attempts, the radio is locked under the "LOCKED 13" message, and can no longer be fixed online.
