San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance offers two autumn seasonal events at each of its properties

halloween party zoo safari 2021

This year, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is celebrating kids in a big way during October’s Kids Free Month, by offering fun activities and experiences for the whole family at the nonprofit conservation organization’s two wildlife parks. Throughout the entire month of October, kids ages 11 and younger will receive free admission to the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park , and can take part in special October weekend activities, such as unique entertainment, culinary delights and one-of-a-kind encounters with wildlife — as they discover ways that everyone can work together to build a world where all life thrives.

At the San Diego Zoo, HalGLOWeen — a Halloween-themed extravaganza — is coming back! This year, the glowing spectacular has been expanded to five weekends –Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 1 through 31 — to allow families more time to encounter wildlife in diverse habitats, and take part in all of the HalGLOWeen entertainment and experiences. As the sun goes down each weekend, from 5 to 9 p.m., guests can enjoy a multitude of entertainment options, including live music, \ performances, and interactive games and costume fun — hosted by the Zoo’s zany Dr. Zoolittle. Guests can meet and greet the Zoo’s Boo Crew, as Dr. Harry and Friends don their Halloween finery — and they will find delicious seasonal treats at eateries throughout the Zoo.

halloween party zoo safari 2021

During the day, Zoo guests also have the opportunity to venture through two brand-new experiences: the Kenneth C. Griffin Komodo Kingdom and the William E. Cole Family Hummingbird Habitat. Both habitats offer state-of-the-art spaces where visitors can interact with some of the most powerful and delicate species on earth.

Komodo Kingdom offers visitors the chance to see these magnificent lizards up close, learn more about this species, the challenges they face and the work San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is doing to the save their species — and hundreds of others like them — and the delicate ecosystems they call home. The adjacent infinity-loop-shaped Hummingbird Habitat provide guests the opportunity to experience several species of hummingbirds, as well as other rare birds from their native regions in North and South America — shining a light on species many people have heard of, but may not know a lot about.

halloween party zoo safari 2021

  • Autumn Festival

At the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, there’s a new celebration this year: Autumn Festival. Guests are invited each weekend — Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 16 through 31 — to celebrate the fall season with wildlife encounters, entertainment and culinary comforts. Guests will be able to experience upbeat, modern country soundtracks and live Bluegrass music that will get everyone up and line dancing plus participate in interactive trivia games about autumn to win special culinary prizes. Safari Parker, explorer and adventurer extraordinaire, will share entertaining and educational insights about the importance of wildlife to our ecosystem, including tips on how we can help support and protect wildlife habitats before they disappear. Safari Park guests will also get an opportunity to find out more about the numerous flowers and fascinating plants around the Safari Park that thrive during fall. And at the Safari Park’s many restaurants, guests will discover remarkable tastes of autumn, with everything from pumpkin-spiced coffee and apple pie to pumpkin-flavored beer and apple cider.

Apart from the Autumn Festival activities, guests can take part in a variety of Safaris, such as flying over the landscape on Flightline Safari, climb aboard a caravan truck for a trip through the Park’s African savanna during a Wildlife Safari, or spend an amazing night under that stars for a Roar and Snore experience.

Special HalGLOWeen treats

San Diego Zoo has some yummy Halloween treats! They have a Halloween light up pumpkin popcorn bucket, which you can refill through the month of October for only $2.99.

halloween party zoo safari 2021

They also have cake pops and rice krispies, spooky grape churro and a Tasmanian Devils drink (21+ please). Try their delicious pumpkin pie shake – it’s a must-have. It’s really tasty!

HalGLOWeen is a night-time event, so guests will have to wait until 5pm to enjoy the seasonal offerings.

It ends at 9pm giving families plenty of time to get through all the special entertainment options, including live music, amazing performances, and awesome interactive games and costume fun—hosted by the Zoo’s zany Dr. Zoolittle.

Make sure to bring comfortable shoes, you will be doing a lot of walking around the park, but it will be worth it.

halloween party zoo safari 2021

We suggest checking out the Bubble Dance Party first. Dance the night away as the zoo’s DJ plays the Halloween hits, and everyone joins the countdown to the release of billions of bubbles several times every hour.

The Bubble Dance party was one of our favorite experience at HalGLOWeen, everyone was dancing having a blast, even the adults couldn’t stop dancing.

Guests will also meet and greet the Zoo’s Boo Crew, as Dr. Harry and Friends don their Halloween finery—and they will find delicious seasonal treats at eateries throughout the Zoo.

Meet and greet the HalGLOWeen characters in front of Mercado street that includes the likes of their glowing animal puppet friends and even some mischievous scarecrow stilt-walkers. These characters were so much fun to see in person, the kiddos face lit up when meeting them.

Springfield’s Forest Park Zoo hosting Spooky Safari with candy, crafts around the zoo

Forest Park Zoo in Springfield is hosting a Spooky Safari later this month.

The event will have grab-and-go stations with pre-packaged candy, books, crafts and more around the zoo for children to find.

“Spooky Safari gives children and adults a chance to get into the Halloween spirit, all while supporting the animals here at The Zoo,” said Caroline Cay Adams, director of education at The Zoo in Forest Park. “And thanks to a donation of books we received from Reading Success by 4th Grade, we’re excited to be able to provide a book to every child that attends the event.”

The event will also have a virtual costume contest. Winners for funniest, most creative and best family/group costume will be selected. There will also be a raffle.

Prizes for both the costume contest and the raffle include tickets to Monster Kidz Box, Springfield Museums, Riverside Reptiles, Six Flags and Connecticut Science Center.

The Halloween event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 30, and pre-registration is required.

Registration closes Oct. 27 or when all tickets are sold out. Tickets are sold at www.forestparkzoo.org/spookysafari2021 .

Glam Safari Birthday Party on Kara's Party Ideas | KarasPartyIdeas.com

Glam Safari Birthday Party Details:

“Stephanie celebrated Young, Wild and Three for her twin daugthers Sophia and Mia.  A grand welcome of Prosecco Cart greeted the guests. Upon entering their home, a 12′ tree adorned with balloons was another statement vibe. An array of dandy cookies, parfaits and cute duo cakes were truly eye candy.

Balloons were a major part of the celebration as a mosaic, 9′ ring and installation at the backyard moved the eyes from one station to the next. The fresh greens and monstera leaves were also a treat.

A rich, grazing table filled the kitchen island. Salad, sandwhiches and fruits were enjoyed by everyone.

Safari animals joined the party in plush form or posters, however, the ginormous 10′ tall elephant looked over the bouncy castle fun. There was a children’s nook for games, activities and ice cream to beat the heat.

Truly a delightful 3rd birthday to cherish!” – Dina | Calgary Party 50
