Our small groups guarantee Never more than 26 guests per tour

We always keep our tour group sizes small. That's because we want every guest to get the comfort, space and service they deserve. Although many other companies squeeze in groups of up to 50, even the largest of our tour packages are strictly limited to just 26 guests. That leaves empty seats on the coaches. So why do we limit our tours to such small group sizes? Here are six reasons.

Superior Service

Guests consistently list our small group sizes as a top reason why they would book with us again. See our reviews...

More focus on you

With a smaller group, our tour guides have more time to get to know you and your interests.

We deliberately leave empty seats on our coaches, so you can relax and spread out.

Experience each attraction up-close and personal, with more time to ask questions and see what interests you.

Speedier Check-Ins

Compared with many of our rivals, our smaller group sizes make checking in and out of the hotels a breeze.

More Relaxed Pace

Experience Ireland at your own pace. No rushing to keep up and no waiting around for large groups to assemble.

Best time for travel the best of ireland featuring the wild atlantic way.

While just about any month is great to visit Ireland, there are a few prime times of the year for the Best of Ireland tour. Here are some recommendations from our destination experts.

Spring: After a sleepy winter, the Emerald Isle reveals its lush landscape against fields bursting with bluebells, daffodils, and frolicking spring lambs. The season heralds longer days, which means more time to visit must-see sites without the crowds.

Summer: In the course of a summer day in Ireland, it might feel like you’re experiencing all four seasons! As the sun sets late in the evening, longer days mean having more time to take in the spectacular scenery and see the landscape in full bloom.

Fall: Ireland turns red and gold in autumn, enhancing the emerald colors of its epic landscape, so it’s appealing to leaf peepers, too. Also, it’s a cozy time to visit.

Ireland Tours

Card image cap

Touring Ireland is like being welcomed into the family and feeling like you’ve been a part of it the whole time. Sitting in an Irish pub, sipping on a Guinness. You can listen to the locals talk in their incredibly thick accents about something dramatic that happened to such-and-such down the road, who doesn't want to be a part of it? Good old Irish charm. Much like the locals, a tour of Ireland is full of stories and history. This is the land where giants carved the coastlines, fairies dwell deep in the forests, and luck flows through every landscape. Join our master storytellers on small group tours from Dublin , Belfast, or our newly launched depature point of Killarney . Dive deeper into this fascinating island, have some craic along the way, and uncover the tales of time gone by being brought to life. Simply choose the adventure that calls out to you the most. Will you try to count the basalt blocks at the Giant’s Causeway when you depart for a tour or Ireland from Belafast ? Follow in the footsteps of monks at Clonmacnoise Abbey? Or listen to the roar of the Atlantic along the rugged West Coast? Whichever path you choose, you’ll come back home a storyteller yourself, with a head full of souvenir stories and memories that last a lifetime.

Why you'll love an Ireland tour

ireland group travel tours

Weird wonders lie in the landscapes

Giant’s causeway is 40,000 basalt columns. Cliffs of Moher is a 214m drop into the Atlantic Ocean. And the Dingle Peninsula is 75km of unspoilt beaches and jagged mountains. But the numbers don’t do it justice: you need to see it to believe it. And an Irish tour, led by knowledgeable driver-guides , can be just the answer.

ireland group travel tours

Giants, leprechauns, and fairies

It feels as if every landscape you walk along on an Irish tour was crafted by a giant, ransacked by leprechauns, and traversed by a thousand banshees. So make sure to tune in to your guide’s tales. And who knows, maybe you’ll believe in some of them yourself.

Learn insider stories behind Titanic, designed to be one of the finest ships ever to grace the seas, on your visit to Titanic Belfast, built on the site of the former Queen's Island shipyards that produced the ill-fated liner. J. Bruce Ismay, Chairman of the White Star Line, asked Lord Pirrie of shipbuilders Harland & Wolff to construct "a stable ship that will not disturb the sediment in the fine wines" they were drinking together at a planning meeting. And while Titanic was, according to her builders, "as nearly as perfect as human brains can make her," she proved no match for nature. About Booking This Tour

Travel Documents

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally, you will need a passport valid for six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey for entry into Ireland; however, you do not need a visa for the short duration of this tour.

If you are a citizen of another country traveling internationally, you should contact an embassy or consulate of Ireland to determine what travel documentation is required.

Please note that longer stays abroad for any purpose may require additional travel documentation.

We recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you. Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. Secure one set of copies in the safe in your room while traveling and leave one set behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your documents are misplaced, lost or stolen.

To facilitate Travel Requirements, destinations are increasingly utilizing online forms that require digital proof that you've successfully completed your submission (via an email, QR code, etc.) To ensure smooth travels and peace of mind, we strongly recommend all guests carry a personal smart phone and sign up for international data plans before traveling overseas.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN: If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.) PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

Deposits and fees for the optional Protection Plan or Cancel Fee Waiver [CFW] coverage are due at time of booking.

The deposit amount is $600 per person

Final Payment is due to Tauck  60  days before departure for lands trips, and  120  days before departure for cruises and rail journeys. If your deposit was made by credit card, final payment will be automatic unless you opted out at time of booking. Travel Protection Plan

Effective for plans purchased as of July 1, 2021:

Tauck's Guest Protection

Tauck's Guest Protection provides you with cancellation protection before your journey begins as well as insurance benefits while you are traveling. Guest Protection includes the following:

Cancellation Waiver – Provided by Tauck:

Under Tauck's Cancellation Fee Waiver you can cancel your tour for ANY REASON up to the day before departure and receive a money-back refund (except in Extreme Circumstances*) on the land tour cost, based on your original method of payment.

*Extreme Circumstances:  In the event of an act of God, war (whether declared or undeclared), terrorism, accident, natural disaster, outbreak of disease, or other event or circumstance beyond our control that contributes to or results in cancellation rates above our historical cancellation rates in the absence of such event or occurrence, Tauck reserves the right to issue a credit to you in lieu of a money-back refund, applicable to a future Tauck journey.

Travel Insurance Benefits – Underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company.

  • Trip Cancellation –  If you must cancel your tour due to a covered reason, the plan provides coverage for the amount you paid for your travel arrangements. Since the non-insurance cancellation waiver takes care of the land package cancellation fees already, this benefit reimburses the airfare cancellation charges up to the value of your original airfare purchase.
  • Trip Interruption –  If you have to interrupt your tour for covered reasons, the plan provides reimbursement to catch up to your tour or return home.
  • Travel Delay –  Provides reimbursement for missed, prepaid travel arrangements if you are delayed by a common carrier, natural disaster, unannounced strike, or other reasons as cited in the plan.
  • Medical Expense –  Reimburses covered medical expenses incurred in the event you become injured or sick during your trip.
  • Baggage / Personal Effects Protection –  Provides reimbursement in the event your luggage or personal effects are, lost, stolen, damaged or delayed during your trip.
  • Worldwide Emergency Assistance Services –  Provided by Carefree Travel Assistance; 24-hour emergency telephone assistance hotline for medical and travel related problems.

The cost of Tauck's Guest Protection is: $559  per person

This protection provides insurance coverage that applies only during the covered trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life, health, home and automobile policies. If you have any questions about your current coverage, call your insurer, insurance agent or broker.

This optional Guest Protection must be requested at time of booking and fee must be included with initial payment. Fees are based on costs as of July 1, 2021, and are subject to change. Details will be provided with written confirmation of your tour reservation. Guest Protection does not protect travel agent commissions. Reimbursements will be made according to original method of payment. The amount of any refund shall be reduced by any recoveries obtained by you from any third parties.

The Guest Protection plan waives cancellation fees outlined below, provided we are notified of cancellation before your tour departs. Tour cancellation fees are waived regardless of reason, without written notice, and Tauck will refund land tour cost.

To obtain your state-specific Certificate of Insurance that contains the complete terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of the certificate, visit  affinitytravelcert.com/docs/TACGPPINTL .

If You Have To Cancel

If you cancel within 10 days of initial deposit Within the first 10 days after you place your initial deposit, you may cancel your reservation for any reason with no cancellation fees. If you cancel more than 10 days after initial deposit Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed bookings. These fees vary from tour to tour. Therefore, the following fees apply.

Cancellation Fees with Tauck's Guest Protection Plan:

Loss of Guest Protection fee, per person

Cancellation Fees without Tauck's Guest Protection Plan :

60 days or more before departure = $600 per person

59-8 days before departure = $900 per person

7-1 days before departure = $1500 per person

Time of cancellation will be when notice is received in our Wilton Woods, CT office.

In the event of an unforeseen circumstance beyond our control, Tauck reserves the right to amend the cancellation terms outlined herein.

Note:  All Guests, regardless of residency, who book a Tauck journey have the option of purchasing the Cancellation Waiver provided by Tauck in the event they need to cancel their trip after making their reservations. Tauck's Guest Protection, which includes both the Cancellation Fee Waiver and the Travel Insurance Benefits and Assistance Services described above, is not available to residents of Puerto Rico.

Travel Requirements For This Tour

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

AIRFARE: Airfare to and from this destination is not included in the journey cost. If purchasing your air elsewhere, it is very important to provide us with your confirmed arriving and departing flight information no later than 3 weeks before your arrival date. Flight information can be submitted to Tauck (or verified, if you've already provided it) in the My Account section of Tauck.com.

TAUCK AIRPORT TRANSFERS are included at the start and end of the journey between the airport and the Tauck hotel. Airport transfers are available for any pre tour or post tour hotel stays immediately consecutive to the tour, providing flight information is received in the Tauck office no later than three weeks in advance. Details on locating your transfer upon arrival to the tour start city will be included in your final documents.

AIRLINES and CHECKED LUGGAGE: Due to space limitations during your Tauck journey, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one average-size suitcase per person. Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and are free to revise luggage policies without notice. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies. PLEASE NOTE that if you are booked on a tour that includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than the weight restrictions for your international flights.

Checked Luggage – General

Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm).

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Tauck luggage tags will be provided by your Tauck Director on Day 1 of your itinerary. Please do not attach a Tauck luggage tag to any carry-on items, as the Tauck tags designate luggage that is to be handled and transferred by ground operators and hotel staff during your journey.

Carry-on Luggage - General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.

Health, Safety and Mobility

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

While drinking water is generally safe at all our hotels, bottled water will be available wherever the local water is not fit to drink. We also provide bottled water on the motor coaches.

If you are interested in sporting activities, many opportunities await you on this particular journey. Golfing is available at select resort hotels. You may rent clubs and purchase golf balls but you will have to bring your own footwear. If you would like to fully enjoy the exceptional courses at Ashford Castle, you may wish to schedule additional nights either before or after your tour. Experience has taught us that the earlier you book your tee time the better – even ahead of your departure! If you decide you would like to play once you have arrived, your Tauck Director will endeavor to honor your request. Tennis facilities are available at several hotels including Ashford Castle and Aghadoe Heights Hotel. Fishing is possible at Ashford Castle. Horseback riding is available at Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa and Ashford Castle. You will have the opportunity to swim in the pool at several of the hotels used on this tour. Any expenses incurred in conjunction with these optional activities are at your own expense.

Ireland has introduced a ban on smoking in all enclosed places of work in Ireland. This includes all bars, night clubs, restaurants and hotels. Although the public spaces within the hotel are non-smoking, you may request a smoking guest room at your hotel.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour.

If you have a medical condition which might limit your participation in activities, please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice and notify us as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. We will advise your Tauck Director accordingly.

VACCINATIONS

If you are a resident of the U.S., no vaccinations are currently required for travel to Ireland. For complete vaccination and inoculation information please contact your physician, the public health service in your area, or the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to obtain information regarding vaccinations that may be required for your journey. The Travelers' Health Section of the CDC operates a 24-hour "Travelers' Health Hotline" at 800-232-4636 (toll-free in the U.S.). You may also log on to the CDC website by clicking here.

If you are a resident of another country, please contact an embassy or consulate of Ireland to determine what vaccination(s) may be required for your travel.

SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS

The restaurants, hotels, caterers and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from Tauck guests. However, given the diverse nature of those food providers (from small wineries to grand hotels to world-famous restaurants in more than 70 countries worldwide), some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

The Best of Ireland, Small Groups involves a considerable amount of walking. To enjoy this tour, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances, often over unpaved and uneven surfaces. Some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. The amount of walking you do, however, is at your discretion. The visits to the Cliffs of Moher, Kylemore Abbey and Giant's Causeway are challenging due to the steep climbs and long walks involved in the sightseeing.

Most hotels do not have special handicap access rooms.

PLEASE NOTE: We regret that this Tauck itinerary cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters. Likewise, we regret that we're unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs. The responsibility of the Tauck Director who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest. Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

Reading List

We have compiled a reading list of recommended books to give you more information about the destinations you will be traveling to on your upcoming journey!

You can view the reading list  here.

The weather in Ireland can be variable, alternating between wet and cool days, and sunny and mild days. The climate is generally moderate throughout the country, tempered by the Atlantic Ocean Gulf Stream. Average high temperatures from April through October range from 55 to 65˚F (13 to 18˚C) and the average low temperatures range from 40 to 55˚F (4 to 13˚C). Ireland, like other European countries, has experienced unusually warm spells in recent summers. Ireland's greenery owes its notoriety to the frequent rainfall.

To read about current weather conditions, we suggest you log on to the Internet website by clicking here.

What To Pack

Bringing the right clothing for your trip is important – we've partnered with New Headings who provide an "easy-to-use, one-stop shop" for your Tauck travel needs, specifically selected for this trip. Click here to visit their site .

The weather in Ireland is moderate. Your journey is designed with leisure in mind. Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is adaptable and allows for layering. Generally, during the day, casual, comfortable, cotton clothing is recommended. Cool weather at higher elevations or at night will require warmer, layered clothing. The Emerald Isle owes its name to its precipitation, so rain is to be expected anytime.

In Europe, especially in finer restaurants, it is generally customary to dress somewhat formally. Slacks or a dress for women and a jacket and tie for men are acceptable dining attire, although it is not required. It is advisable to avoid wearing jeans, sneakers or shorts for dinner. You may also wish to dress up a bit for the welcome reception and the farewell dinner, but by all means be comfortable.

You will find a hair dryer located in your hotel guest room. Irons and ironing boards are available upon request. Valet laundry and dry cleaning services are also available for a fee.

We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through your entire journey, together with a copy of your doctor's prescription or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you, a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Following is a list of recommended items to pack for your trip to Ireland:

  • Casual daytime wear – shorts, slacks, long and short-sleeved shirts
  • An optional jacket and tie for men
  • Casually elegant evening wear for ladies
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat
  • A light sweater or jacket for higher elevations or a breezy night
  • Binoculars (7x50 preferably)
  • Insect repellent
  • Camera, lenses, batteries, memory cards and chargers
  • Lightweight, comfortable, sturdy walking shoes that have already been broken-in
  • Travel alarm clock/cell phone with alarm function (many hotels do not have clocks in the rooms)
  • Rain poncho and collapsible umbrella
  • Reusable zipper-lock bags or other waterproof bags
  • Daypack for camera equipment
  • Sundries and toiletries that may be difficult to find en route
  • Copies of your travel documents that should be secured in the safe in your hotel room while traveling

Our Driftwood Tour was amazing. Having a small group made the adventure so much more fun.

Having a smaller vehicle let us explore places that big buses couldn’t reach.

5 of the Best Small Group Tours of Ireland

Dubbed the “Emerald Isle” for its lush landscape, Ireland is a fabulous destination to explore, whether independently or as part of a guided group tour.

Dramatic cliffs, medieval castles and a rich culture steeped in literature, folklore, art and music are just some of the appeal of this fascinating country that occupies most of the island of Ireland, off the coast of England and Wales. And while travelling independently here is perfectly possible thanks to its relatively small size and well-developed transport network, there’s plenty to say for coming as part of a group, too. If you like the idea of meeting like-minded travellers during your Ireland adventure, we’ve picked out 5 of the best small group tours of the country currently available.

Irish Explorer (7 days)

Taking in almost the length and breadth of the island of Ireland, this action-packed tour will see you visit a huge number of cultural, religious and historic sites over a full week. Starting in Dublin, you’ll spend your first full day exploring the capital of Dublin, with some free time included. Next, it’s on to neighbouring Northern Ireland for an insight into the country’s often tumultuous past and a look around the capital of Belfast by car and foot. For the remainder of the week, there’ll be visits to Galway via the famous Wild Atlantic Way – the longest coastal drive in the world – the magnificent Cliffs of Moher, traditional pubs and art museums in Limerick, hiking trails, churches and golf courses in Killarney, and plenty more. The tour ends back in Dublin, via a stop at Blarney Castle, where you’ll have the chance to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone. In Dublin, you can celebrate your last night with an Irish music evening, including dinner and a show. From €958 per person.

Corners of Southern Ireland (7 days)

ireland group travel tours

Focussing on the Republic of Ireland, this week-long tour starts and ends in Dublin and takes in some of the country’s most spellbinding scenery. After an introductory evening and dinner in the capital, the next morning you and your small group will head off into the countryside, passing through bucolic fields and past ancient castles, maritime towns and picture-postcard villages. Along the way, your guide will regale you with stories and facts about the country’s past and present. There’ll be plenty of stop-offs too, including visits to Molly Gallivan’s Cottage, where you’ll learn the story of a widow who supported her children by brewing illicit whiskey, a look around the famous House of Waterford Crystal, home to a traditional Irish craft, and a walk atop the sublime Cliffs of Moher. From €2,779 per person.

Best of the West (5 days)

Discover one of Ireland’s most beautiful regions on this immersive five-day tour of its western reaches. Each day you’ll be treated to different landscapes and landmarks, from dramatic sea cliffs with crashing Atlantic waves to ancient monasteries to historic castles. The tour also includes famous routes such as the Ring of Kerry as well as a number of “off the beaten track” sites and places of interest. Wherever you go, there will be the chance to meet locals in traditional pubs and quaint village cafes, sample authentic Irish cuisine, and listen to traditional music, all designed to get under the skin of this beguiling country.  The tour starts and ends in Dublin. From €1,160 per person.

Visiting a total of ten destinations, you’ll take in unspoilt coasts that blend into rocky shores, ancient ruins, local pubs, and plenty more. Departing the capital, you’ll travel south towards Cork, through the lush farming counties of Kildare, Laois and Tipperary, and stopping in the heritage town of Cahir. You’ll continue to Blarney, on the outskirts of Cork, with time to wander the castle grounds and kiss the famous Blarney Stone, before visiting the Jameson Whiskey Distillery. Over the ensuing days, there’ll be visits to the historic port town of Cobh, Ireland’s oldest city of Waterford, the thriving town of Kilkenny, the Wicklow Mountains, the 6th-century monastery of Glendalough, and the famous Sally Gap, before the short journey back to Dublin. From €589 per person.

Absolutely fantastic!! Travelled with my mom who is turning 80, my sister and our teen boys ( aged 15-17). The itinerary and hotels were perfect. What made it so great was out guide Pat! Not sure it would have been near as great an experience if we had someone else guiding us. He was kind, funny, patient and very knowledgeable!

7-Day Emerald Explorer Small Group Tour

Our tour guide, Jimmy was excellent. Did his best to make sure we all had a great day. Both local tour guides, both Barry, were great as well. The Aran Island tour was great, the Ross Castle tour was great and the Blarney Castle tour was also great. We loved the town of Kinsale. What a beautiful place.

Best of Ireland (10 Days) Tour

Best of Ireland (10 Days)

Ally was our tour guide and John our driver. Both excellent in their jobs and lovely human beings. Keeping 45 people happy and enthusiastic is no easy feat but Ally and John were masters of their craft. The hotels were great, the luggage organization exceptional and the food provided top notch. There was time at each stop to allow everyone to feel they could explore at a relaxed pace. We saw things that we would never have found if we were on our own. Would not hesitate to take another tour with Trafalgar.

10 Day Wild Irish Experience - Small Group Tour Tour

10 Day Wild Irish Experience - Small Group Tour

Our 10 day Irish Experience Tour was fantastic. We really appreciated the service and extra care our guide/driver Lee gave us throughout the tour. We had a group of 16 people and 2 were on the 7 day itinerary the rest were 10 days. We loved the group dinners that Lee organized for us to get to know the other guests. Lee always made the agenda clear and got us to the places we needed to be on time. His driving was very safe and he was able to tell us about the Irish people and scenery while getting us to the beautiful views and attractions. The accommodations were clean and the breakfast were delicious. Lee always gave us recommendations on restaurants and pubs in each town we stayed. Each town was unique and I was glad we were able to stay in several of them for 2 nights. Lee adjusted the times to maximize the good weather and for the group to get the best experience. I highly recommend the 10 day Irish Experience tour with Lee!

I was unable to rate my tour guide Fiona. She was excellent. History knowledge as well as cultural insight was excellent . Fiona was very personable and extremely helpful. Really well designed tour with an excellent guide and local experts on scheduled tours and optional add-ons. This was our first trip to Ireland, and it was extremely comforting to leave the planning to someone else and just enjoy the ride.

The Best Of Ireland Tour

The Best Of Ireland

The tour was great and our tour / bus driver is one of the best. He's extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Ireland and went out of his way to do extra things that were not on the itinerary. We had plenty of time at all of our stops and loads of free time as well. Thanks Indus for a great time.

5-Day Escape to the South West Small-Group Tour from Dublin Tour

5-Day Escape to the South West Small-Group Tour from Dublin

What made this tour excellent was out wonderful driver and guide, Peter Boylan. He was thoughtful and helpful and did outstanding commentary along the way, filling us in on farming methods and Iriish history. When we had been unable to see the Cliffs of Mohr because of rain, he took us instead to the spectacular Kerry Cliffs. And there were other thoughtful adjustments and always interesting places to stop for breaks. He was just a genuine and intelligen guide and kept us in good humour too. The accommodation was what I’d expected but it qould have been nice for us all to be closer to make it easier to eat together in the evenings.zMurphyu’s in Killarney was the outstanding accommodation for me. I shall always cherish memories of the beautiful Irish landscape and this wonderful tour.

What people love about Fully Guided Tours in Ireland

The entire trip was wonderful, very well organized, and satisfying. Peter Flood was an excellent tour guide. He was as knowledgeable as could be, funny, and helpful; and really seems to love what he does.
Small Bus touring is the way to go!
Mike was amazing! We had such a great group of people, Mike was so full of knowledge about the history and culture of Ireland, and it was so laid back. We got to explore each destination at a leisurely pace and enjoyed most evenings checking out the local bars. Highly recommend!

Mond ay, May 1 3th, 2024

This morning depart Dublin and travel south to Cork... enroute you will stop in Co. Laois to visit Ballykilcavan Farm and Brewery - The farm has been the home of the Walsh family since 1639 and the current owners, David and Lisa Walsh-Kemmis, are the13th generation of the family to live and work there. They have set up a craft brewery in the 240 year old stone grain store at Ballykilcavan, and grow the barley used to make the beers in the field next to the farmyard. The brewing water is drawn from a well beside the brewery and David has also established a new hop garden. The company sells a range of craft beers from traditional lager, red ale and stout to more exotic Indian Pale Ales and canned beers. Each batch is made by hand on their copper-clad 1000 litre kit and bottled on site.

The Rock of Cashel

After visit the Rock of Cashel - Set on a dramatic outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale, the Rock of Cashel, iconic in its historic significance, possesses the most impressive cluster of medieval buildings in Ireland. Among the monuments to be found there is a round tower, a high cross, a Romanesque chapel, a Gothic cathedral, an abbey, the Hall of the Vicars Choral and a fifteenth-century Tower House. Originally the seat of the kings of Munster, according to legend St. Patrick himself came here to convert King Aenghus to Christianity. Brian Boru was crowned High King at Cashel in 978 and made it his capital. In 1101 the site was granted to the church and Cashel swiftly rose to prominence as one of the most significant centers of ecclesiastical power in the country. The surviving buildings are remarkable. Cormac’s Chapel, for example, contains the only surviving Romanesque frescoes in Ireland. The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland’s most spectacular and – deservedly – most visited tourist attractions.

Arrival to Cork, Ireland

Arrive in Cork City which is Ireland’s second largest city, and spend 2 nights here. Built on a marsh, the city proper is inter-laced with winding canal and the river, which gives it a distinctly European air. The river Lee divides the city in two and is perhaps best reflected in the well-patterned architectural development incorporating the best of old and new. Cork is the home of Murphy’s stout and also to the world-famous Jazz Festival.

Titanic Experience Cobh

All of the exhibitions have one thing in common: a reverential respect for the gravity of what happened. Upon entry, you're handed a boarding pass which contains details of one of the 123 passengers that stepped aboard the Titanic. Through interactive touch screen and holographic imagery and audio visual presentation, we’re given the background and context to Irish emigration in 1912, we see inside the famous ship built by Belfast manufacturers, Harland and Wolff, and re live the tragic events leading to disaster. The exhibition finishes off with footage of Titanic’s final resting place on the seabed. Followed by lunch.

Arrival in Killarney

Arrive in Killarney. Nationally and internationally renowned as the undisputed centre of tourism in the South West of Ireland, Killarney has it all. While its wild beauty and glorious scenery have, for centuries, established it firmly in the affections of all who have visited, Killarney is also a thriving commercial town offering an abundance of attractions and entertainment. Exciting all summer long, Killarney has been able to hold its premier position amongst other tourist destinations with a variety of festivals and an unequalled nightlife. Over seventy pubs line the streets of this town while a vast array of restaurants and accommodation ensure that every imaginable taste can be catered for. The popularity of the town is not a modern-day phenomenon though. It has welcomed visitors for over 200 years. Famously, one particular lake view was dedicated to the Ladies in Waiting of Queen Victoria, who visited the area in 1861. Their visit has been commemorated by the naming of "Ladies' View",

Check into Randles Hotel where you will overnight for the next 2 nights.

Enjoy dinner in a local restaurant in Killarney tonight.

Thursday, May 16th, 2024

Today you will explore some highlights of the world-famous Ring of Kerry - the name given to the scenic coastal drive around the Kerry peninsula, along the base of the highest mountain range in Ireland.

Enjoy the lovely view of the 3 Lakes of Killarney from 'Ladies View’. The view here is probably the best known of Killarney and is a major attraction for visitors. Queen Victoria's ladies-in- waiting visited here during the royal visit in 1861. They were so taken with the view that it was named after them. If you walk up the road from the viewing point, there is another parking area and a path that leads to a wonderful view of the upper lake.  Followed by lunch.

Depart Kerry and travel north to Galway along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way!

Enroute you will stop in the village of Foynes in Co. Limerick. Discover Foynes Flying Boat and Maritime at the original terminal building in Foynes, County Limerick for a tour and Irish Coffee! It recalls the nostalgic era of 1939 to 1945, when Foynes was the centre of the aviation world. Follow in the footsteps of Maureen O'Hara, John F. Kennedy, Bob Hope, Eleanor Roosevelt, and the dignitaries, movie stars and refugees who landed here during World War II. See how this unique story is told by an original film in a 1940s style cinema. Check out the World War II exhibits and take the chance to board a life-size replica of the Boeing 314 Flying Boat. Irish coffee, a popular beverage, was first served at Foynes in 1943 to a group of weary passengers. Watch the wonderful 3D holographic show re-enacting this famous night and after, taste a delicious Irish coffee in its original home. Spend some time exploring the maritime collection in the reinstated control tower and enjoy the panoramic views of the River Shannon.

Visit to the Cliffs of Moher

Later, you will stop off at the Cliffs of Moher; Ireland’s most visited natural attraction with a magical vista that captures the hearts of up to one million visitors every year. Standing 214 metres (702 feet) at their highest point they stretch for 8 kilometers (5 miles) along the Atlantic coast. From the Cliffs of Moher on a clear day one can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, as well as the Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk mountains in Connemara, Loop Head to the south and the Dingle Peninsula and Blasket Islands in Kerry. O’Brien’s Tower stands near the highest point and has served as a viewing point for visitors for hundreds of years.

Enjoy a brief stop in Doolin, a charming small seaside village on the northwest coast of County Clare. Set against the rugged Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by the spectacular bare limestone landscape of the Burren, Doolin is a place of breathtaking beauty. Traditionally a fishing village, Doolin is now renowned world-wide as the traditional music capital of Ireland.

Arrival in Galway

Arrive in Galway. Galway City is the focal point of Co. Galway and the west of Ireland. It nestles at the neck of Galway Bay and is reputed to have been Columbus’ final point of departure on his voyage of discovery. See St Nicholas Church, the Spanish Arch and Eyre Square. St Nicholas Church is a medieval church, which is dedicated to the patron saint of sailors. The Spanish Arch is a reminder of the city's trading links with Spain. Part of the medieval town wall is visible on the south side of the arch. Eyre Square is the focal point of the modern city between the old town and the docks and it centers on a small park, named after John F Kennedy.

Check into the Hardiman Hotel, where you will overnight for the next 2 nights.

Suggestions please to explore Ireland from London as part of guided tours?

https://www.cietours.com/tours/ireland

A 6-day Northern Island tour covers parts of (The Republic of) Ireland and parts of Northern Ireland:

https://vagabondtoursofireland.com/tour/6-day-northern-ireland-tour

And, the 15 day All Ireland one:

https://vagabondtoursofireland.com/tour/15-day-all-ireland-tour.pdf

Another option is Rabbie's Tours, which is also a small group tour:

https://www.rabbies.com/en

Rabbie's does not include accommodation in their base price quote.

Instead, you choose between B&Bs and hotels, which Rabbie's will book for you. Or, you can book them yourself separately.

As a general rule, hotels are more likely to be in the town centre and B&Bs somewhat outside the town.

If you want to book hostels or AirBnB or similar, you would have to book them yourself.

https://www.rabbies.com/en/info/about-us/about-our-travel-accommodation

Between Vagabond and Rabbie's, in your case, I would go with Vagabond for the overall convenience.

You can skip the planning for these 7 affordable bucket list family travel adventures

A s enriching as family vacations can be, there's no question they're stressful to plan. And if you want to show your kids the world, planning family travel adventures to bucket-list destinations like Ireland, Alaska, or America's national parks can also be a bit daunting. The good news is there may be a better alternative to consider—letting someone else do all the planning on a guided tour.

I've participated in numerous guided group tours with my family, and they've been among the most hassle-tree times together we've ever had. Letting trip planners and seasoned guides take care of tedious details and time-consuming logistics removes many of the difficulties that come with traveling, especially with kids.

While a trip to the destination of your dreams is never going to be a cheap family vacation , group travel tours can save you time, money, and a lot of stress. The end result? Family travel adventures that run smoothly and don't come with any costly surprises. Here are 15 value-packed guided tours for your family’s 2024 adventures.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
