Excellent and Unique!
I have taken helicopter tours in other European cities but this was the most enjoyable to date. Pavel provides a very personal, well organised and friendly service, and it is great not having to share the helicopter with others. My partner was nervous about the tour but for the rest of the day was then talking about how wonderful it was. I have been to Kiev a number of times but this is a unique way to see any city and also to see sights that you cannot see from land. I would recommend this tour to anyone!

WHY GO WITH KYIVISIT
Unique places, customised tours, interesting routes, new friends, what travellers say about us.
Shalini Singhal
Inna who was our guide in Kiev is a very amiable and friendly girl. She speaks good English and is very well groomed. We visited Lavra and Mother land statue with her and she told us many historical events and interesting stories about these places and other places too. She accompanied us in the underground graves too to help us understand better I was hesitant to see the war memorial because of the long walk in the sun but she persuaded me to go on and thanks to her I really would have missed out on the war museum which has an amazing and Hair raising collection and facts of World War II time. We were very happy to have her as our guide and would recommend her to others too.
Besides being a good friend of mine for many years, Inna is now a tour guide in Kiev and we shared many fun and interesting excursions during my stay. She is one of the most positive and fun people you can be around, and while she is still learning the technical information about some historical sites, her pleasant company and great attitude are what sets her apart from the average person. She really loves action sports and activities like carting, shooting, quad-ding, x-park, walking, Segway tours, etc. She also can organise good restaurants, massage, shopping, etc. Because she has her own car and is a good/safe driver, it gives tourists a lot of options regarding where she can take them. I would not hesitate to recommend Inna, if only for her good and kind character and fun personality. Her English is also at a high level because she lived abroad for many years before returning to Kiev.
Very good experience. I told her the places I had already visited days ago and she immediately planned a tour with different and interesting things to do. You wont regret from picking her as your guide. Strongly recommended.
Inna is a wonderful person and a perfect guide. I‘m handicapped in hearing and walking and she wrote down a lot of things and she gave me perfect assistance on staircases and where I needed it. I saw a lot in the center of Kyiv and got many very interesting explanations. Had great three hours with her.
I spent 2 days with Inna and had the most amazing time. The communication before the trip had already been promising: She planned the itinerary very carefully and aligned it with the interests I had mentioned. So no surprise the tour itself was everything I had hoped for and more. She did a great job explaining the history of Kiev to me, the story behind buildings and churches we visited – but what set her apart is her warm and engaging personality with which she takes you under her wings and shows you “her Kiev”. It is as if you have a really good friend showing you the city. She also had some great tips for restaurants and her choice for the place where we had lunch was excellent. She anticipated exactly what I might like. On the second day she picked me up in her car and we went to places a bit outside of Kiev – again a carefully planned day. In summary I saw of Kiev in two days what without Inna I would not have seen in a week – if ever. I highly recommend her and next time I come to Kiev I will definitely book her again.
Inna organised an amazing day for my sister and her husband for his birthday. She is extremely responsive, helpful and cheerful person with very high professionalism and warm heart at the same time. My sister and her husband came back with lots of good memories from a relaxed and also exciting trip because Inna made everything ready for them, from airport pick up to restaurant reservation, city tour to bar choices, even in a day that we didn’t pay her. We will be in Kiev soon with more people and leave ourselves to hands of Inna… Thank you for everything Inna.
Although I couldn’t meet with her in my last weekend in Kiev for a tour as she was busy but she seemed very knowledgeable, professional and helpful She gave me some advices and ideas about Kiev. I will definitely book her in my next visit. Highly recommended .

Ukrainian troops pull out of some areas and Zelenskyy postpones foreign trips amid Russian offensive
Blinken announced on Wednesday an additional $2 billion worth of aid to Ukraine in what he called the defence enterprise fund, which will allow the embattled nation to increase weapons purchases and strengthen its defence-industrial base (May 15, 2024).
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday that Washington had “deep concerns” about the impact of Israel’s military activity in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. Blinken told a news conference in Kyiv that it could be affecting the “ability to provide humanitarian assistance” because it was impacting Gaza’s “two main points of access” (May 15, 2024).

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian forces withdrew from some parts of the country’s northeast and battled Russian troops in other areas Wednesday, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to postpone all his upcoming foreign trips underscored the seriousness of the threat his soldiers face.
Against that grim backdrop, visiting U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken sought to reassure Ukraine of continuing American support, announcing a $2 billion arms deal. Most of the money comes from a package approved last month.
The top diplomat’s trip comes as Russian troops press a new offensive in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. It began last week, marking the most significant border incursion since the full-scale invasion began in 2022 and forcing thousands to flee their homes. In recent weeks, Moscow’s forces have also sought to build on gains in the eastern region of Donetsk. Taken together, the developments mean the war has entered a critical stage for Ukraine’s depleted army.
Ukraine’s General Staff reported late Tuesday that troops fell back from two areas in Kharkiv — Lukyantsi and Vovchansk — “in order to save the lives of our servicemen and avoid losses.” Russia said it had captured Lukyantsi.
It was not possible to independently verify either side’s claims.
Vovchansk — just 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the Russian border — has been the focus of much of the recent fighting, and Ukrainian and Russian troops battled in its streets Wednesday. Oleksii Kharkivskyi, head of the city’s patrol police, said Russian troops were taking up positions in the city, while the Ukrainian General Staff said its forces were trying to flush them out.
Gunfire could be heard in the background of a video the police official posted on his Instagram page.
AP AUDIO: Ukrainian troops pull out of some areas and Zelenskyy postpones foreign trips amid Russian offensive
AP correspondent Charles de Ledesma reports on air-borne Ukrainian attacks on Russian-controlled territory.
The Ukrainian presidential office said additional reinforcements were being deployed in the region, including army reserve units.
At the dangerous juncture, Blinken was in Ukraine to highlight U.S. support , though most of the money he announced Wednesday, about $1.6 billion, comes from the $60 billion allotted to Ukraine in the supplemental foreign assistance legislation passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden, officials said.
He said the money would be used for three purposes: to provide weapons in the short term, to invest in Ukraine’s defense-industrial base and to allow Ukraine to buy military supplies from other countries.
At a news conference with Blinken, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said of the aid: “This is a very powerful message to both our friends and our enemies.”
Blinken said Washington understands the urgency of Ukraine’s need for additional air defenses to protect against the Russian onslaught and was prioritizing them in its assistance.
He added that the U.S. has “not encouraged or enabled strikes outside of Ukraine” using American-supplied long-range weapons. That decision is up to Kyiv authorities, he said.
The United Kingdom has said it placed no limits on Ukraine’s use of weapons Britain supplies to hit targets on Russian soil, but Germany, another major supporter, has balked at that and ruled it out for fear of escalating the conflict.
Russia is opening new fronts in order to stretch Ukraine’s army, which is short of ammunition and manpower, along the about 1,000-kilometer (620-mile) front line, hoping defenses will crumble. Russian artillery and sabotage raids have also been menacing Ukraine’s northern Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
The Russian Defense Ministry also claimed that its troops have retaken the village of Robotnye in the southern Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian forces had gained control of the village last August in what was seen as an important advance in a counteroffensive that eventually petered out.
Elsewhere in Ukraine’s southern regions, an aerial attack on the central district of Kherson wounded 17 civilians, the regional prosecutor’s office said. And a Russian missile attack injured six people in Mykolaiv, according to Ukraine’s rescue service.
Still, the Institute for the Study of War said late Tuesday that the pace of Russia’s advance in the Kharkiv border region, where it launched an offensive late last week and has made significant progress, has slowed. The Washington-based think tank said Moscow’s main aim there is to create a “buffer zone” that will prevent Ukrainian cross-border strikes on Russia’s Belgorod region.
Even so, Zelenskyy’s office announced Wednesday he canceled all his upcoming foreign visits and would try to reschedule them.
Zelenskyy had been expected to visit Spain, and perhaps Portugal, later this week. No reason was given for his decision, but the difficulties on the front line hung over it.
On Wednesday evening, Zelenskyy said in his nightly address that the Ukrainian forces have managed to “partially stabilize” fighting in the Kharkiv region, and that “the occupier who entered the Kharkiv region, is being destroyed with all available means.” He didn’t elaborate.
Meanwhile, Russian air defenses shot down several Ukrainian missiles over the Black Sea and near the Belbek air base, Sevastopol Gov. Mikhail Razvozhayev said. Sevastopol is where the Russian Black Sea Fleet is headquartered.
The fragments of downed missiles fell into residential areas but caused no casualties, Razvozhayev said.
Russian air defenses also shot down nine Ukrainian drones, two Vilha rockets, two anti-radar HARM missiles and two Hammer guided bombs over the Belgorod region early Wednesday, the Defense Ministry said.
Vasily Golubev, the governor of the Rostov region, said two drones attacked a fuel depot. He said there were no casualties or fire.
Ukraine has launched a steady series of drone attacks on oil refineries and fuel depots across Russia over the past months, causing significant damage.

Tugboats escort ship that caused deadly Baltimore bridge collapse back to port

The recovery from the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse reached a significant milestone Monday as the ill-fated container ship Dali was slowly escorted back to port, its damaged bow still covered with smashed shipping containers, fallen steel trusses and mangled concrete.
Nearly two months have passed since the Dali lost power and crashed into one of the bridge’s supporting columns, killing six construction workers and halting most maritime traffic through the Port of Baltimore.
Refloated at high tide Monday morning, the vessel slowly backed away from the site of the March 26 disaster, guided by several tugboats. The extensive damage to its bow included a massive, gaping hole above the waterline on its starboard side.

First vessel uses alternate channel to bypass wreckage at the Baltimore bridge collapse site
A fuel barge has become the first vessel to use an alternate channel to bypass the wreckage of Baltimore’s collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge.
April 2, 2024
Removing the hulking ship opened a new void in Baltimore’s skyline, which lost an iconic landmark and a symbol of the city’s proud maritime history. The altered waterscape also highlighted the progress made on the cleanup effort; crews have already cleared thousands of tons of mangled steel that once were visible jutting up from the water’s surface.
The bodies of the six victims have been recovered from the underwater wreckage — all Latino immigrants who came to the U.S. for job opportunities. They were filling potholes on an overnight shift when the bridge was destroyed.
Officials said the Dali would move at about 1 mph on the roughly 2.5-mile trip back to port, a fraction of the speed it was traveling when it lost power and brought down the bridge. It will spend several weeks getting temporary repairs at the same marine terminal it occupied before beginning its ill-fated voyage, and then move to a shipyard for more substantial repairs.
New deep-water channel allows first ship to pass Key Bridge wreckage in Baltimore
The first cargo ship passed through a newly opened channel in Baltimore after being stuck in the harbor since the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed.
April 25, 2024
To refloat the Dali, crews released anchors and pumped out more than 1 million gallons of water that had kept the ship grounded and stable during the complicated cleanup effort. Crews conducted a controlled demolition on May 13 to break down the largest remaining span of the collapsed bridge, which was draped across the Dali’s bow. Dive teams then confirmed the path was clear.
The Dali experienced two electrical blackouts about 10 hours before leaving the Port of Baltimore on its way to Sri Lanka. The crew later made changes to the ship’s electrical configuration, switching to a transformer and breaker system that had previously been out of use for several months, according to a preliminary report released last week by the National Transportation Safety Board.
Two more blackouts left the Dali without propulsion, drifting off course just as it was approaching the Key Bridge. By then, two tugboats that had guided the Dali out of port had peeled off — normal protocol, according to the report — but when the power went out, the tugs were too far away to help avert disaster.
Salvage crews have begun removing containers from the ship that collapsed Baltimore’s Key bridge
Salvage crews have begun removing containers from the cargo ship that crashed into and collapsed the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.
April 8, 2024
The FBI has also launched a criminal investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The ship’s crew members haven’t been allowed to leave the vessel. Officials said they’ve been busy maintaining the ship and assisting investigators, and will be able to disembark once the Dali is docked.
Officials plan to reopen the port’s 50-foot deep draft channel by the end of May. Until then, crews have established a temporary channel that’s slightly shallower.
Skene writes for the Associated Press.
