lake tahoe snowmobile tours

Welcome to Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours ! We have been expertly guiding tours as North Lake Tahoe's premier snowmobiling operation since 1984. Our mountain tours are designed for all ages and ability levels from newbie to expert. We travel on groomed and powder trails through our pristine National Forest that offers incredible views of all of Lake Tahoe.

Our tours provide a thrilling snowmobiling adventure amidst the breathtaking beauty of the mountains. Get surrounded by tall Pines and Aspen Groves, carve through powder-filled meadows, around frozen lakes, and along lake view ridges to summits overlooking Lake Tahoe. From an elevation of 9000 feet, spectacular unobstructed views of the lake and surrounding ski resorts provide the best backdrop for your snowmobiling adventure. Scheduled stops allow time to enjoy the dramatic scenery from the crest of the High Sierra while also capturing your own photos of Tahoe's splendor. You will love our excellent staff of guides who are professional, friendly, and know the trails in the area better than they know the roadways.

Discover the awe-inspiring landscape and enjoy the freedom of a backcountry adventure in the rugged Tahoe wilderness with Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours . We are certain this will provide an exhilarating experience and memories that will last a lifetime.

What an amazing experience! Such a fun tour, the guides are caring and so friendly. They are experienced and want to provide you with the best time on a snowmobile. Beginner or advance I think it's worth taking a tour the views are amazing especially with a clear day. We got lucky and the weather was perfect. My five-year-old had so much fun!

They are really organized and stop a few times for pictures. They take great group photos for you. I didn't know they were taking some shots of us riding and I thought that was too funny. Definitely check them out, we registered online and it was easy peasy!

We had such a great time! Both Donovan and Brittany were great guides, took us to see some phenomenal views, and always volunteered to take a photo for each group 🙂 They also shared that each "route" is at the discretion of the guide, so you can go multiple times and see new things every time! I am seriously already planning to go back soon.

Definitely recommend! This was all of our 1st-time and it was the perfect amount of adrenaline rush, while also feeling safe and comfortable.

COVID precautions were in place; not at 100%, but better than a lot of other places I've been. *Most* folks were wearing masks (I wish this was all), everything was outdoors, and you are in control of maintaining your distance from others to your comfort level.

What an amazing experience to be able to snowmobile through the forests at Lake Tahoe! The whole process was seamless from the check in to the activity! We were hesitant before the activity regarding the COVID precautions, but we were happy to see that the helmets, etc were getting sanitized and the process of picking up cleaned goggles and helmets were even organized by size. The guides we had were friendly and accommodating. Our group had three adults and a kid, and they allowed us to take it at our own speed and followed up with us.

All The Best Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours

Three friends stop to admire the view in Lake Tahoe on a snowy day

Snowmobiling in Lake Tahoe

Snowmobiling through the woods has a knack for making the wilderness feel as it should. There’s no lift lines or snack bars; it’s just still, snowy and endless. Poetic as it all may be, none of this overshadows the fact that snowmobiles go fast. Real fast. And let’s be honest—aprés-ing your quiet morning by the fire with a punch of adrenaline is never a bad way to vacation. So, it’s settled. You want to go snowmobiling in Lake Tahoe. Now you just need to know where you can do it.

Snowmobiling in South Lake Tahoe

Snowmobile by day, steakhouse by night? South Lake Tahoe has truly mastered the balance of outdoor recreation and modern comfort. Here, an afternoon cruise along a snowy ridge and sunset dinner reservations go hand-in-hand.

Zephyr Cove Snowmobiles

View of Lake Tahoe from the top of a snowy ridge on snowmobiles

A favorite for snowmobile tours in South Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove Resort offers both a beginner-friendly tour and an advanced, backcountry ride. The beginner tour is, well, kinda perfect. Families, couples and groups of friends looking for a low-key ride will get everything they’re looking for and more.

A mellow cruise through the woods leads you to a ridge overlooking the entire Lake Tahoe basin. You’ll feel on top of the world—and at 9,000 feet elevation, you almost will be. Pause for photos and to maybe shed a tear or two (it really is that beautiful) before winding back down the mountain. Along the way, your helpful, local guide will make sure you’re warm, well looked after, and learning all about Tahoe’s native landscape.

Tours meet at Zephyr Cove, an easy journey from anywhere in South Lake Tahoe. If you didn’t pack ski clothes, they offer affordable rentals at the shop.

Lake Tahoe Adventures

Riding snowmobiles through the sierra nevada mountains

If backcountry trails get you more excited than lake views, opt for a snowmobile tour with Lake Tahoe Adventures . Tours depart from their office in Meyers and head south to Hope Valley. Here, groomed backcountry trails loop and wind across meadows, peaks and valleys offering a taste of the area’s most pristine mountain landscapes.

Lake Tahoe Adventures offers two snowmobile tour options, with the Ultimate Snowmobile Ride catering to more experienced riders with off-trail powder chasing and smaller groups. The Summit Tour promises a more mellow ride with equally epic sights.

While it’s tough to beat lake views, Hope Valley can give you a true taste of the Sierras. It’s a bit of a no-so-secret secret that it’s the place to score epic outdoor adventures.

Tahoe Snowmobiles

Circular Snowmobile track near stateline lake tahoe

Okay, okay let’s take a step back. If you’re short on time or simply not ready to weave through the Aspens, Tahoe Snowmobiles ’ circle track is your dream. Follow the mild, groomed track ‘round and ‘round for a taste of all that horsepower in a user-friendly setting.

You won’t get the views or that wilderness-being-wild feeling, but there’s still plenty to love about this snowmobiling option. Re: it’s walking distance from the stateline, available in 30 minute sessions and there’s a fun sledding hill on the same lot. In other words, it’s the ultimate family-friendly snow day activity.

Book a 30-minute snowmobile ride with Tahoe Snowmobiles ! A 5-minute walk from the Stateline casinos in South Lake Tahoe, their groomed track is the perfect place to get a taste of the action.

North Tahoe Snowmobiling

Ever wonder if the views from the north shore or south shore are better? Guess you’re just going to have to book a snowmobile tour in each of ‘em. We’re a little jealous.

Lake Tahoe Snowmobiling

Family in the snow with Lake Tahoe in the background

Staying on Tahoe’s north shore? Book a tour with Lake Tahoe Snowmobiling for unique lake views and groomed trails through the National Forest. Explore the area around North Lake Tahoe’s favorite ski resorts, like Squaw, Northstar and Alpine, stopping for gorgeous lake views at 9,000 feet.

Lake Tahoe Snowmobiling offers just one, all skill-levels, 2-hour tour along Brockway Summit. The tour starts just a few miles north of Tahoe Vista and Kings Beach where your experienced guide teaches you the basics before heading up the mountain. With more than 40 years in the business, these guys truly know north Tahoe’s backcountry trails like the back of their hand. They’ll have you to incredible views in minutes.

If you’re missing anything for the journey, you can rent gear at the main office.

Coldstream Adventures

Coldstream Adventures Summit Tour

Although technically in Truckee, the snowmobile tours at Coldstream Adventures are a great option for anyone staying in north Lake Tahoe. Located just 15 minutes from Tahoe City and 25 minutes from Kings Beach, it’s both a practical option as well as an always appreciated excuse to day trip north.

They offer a 2-hour, all levels backcountry tour that takes you up, down and around Truckee’s Coldstream Canyon. Your guide will walk you through the basics before the 2,000 foot climb to the best snow stashes, views and trails. If you’re with a group of four or more, upgrade to a private tour for custom itineraries and meetup times.

Tahoe Snowbike Rental

snowmobile tours tahoe

Somewhere between a dirt bike and a snowmobile, there’s the snowbike. A combination of all the things you love about dirt biking—agility, speed, easy steering—and what you love most about snowmobiling (fresh powder, obviously.) A spicy twist on the traditional snowmobile ride, snowbikes are a majorly epic way to get into Tahoe’s backcountry.

At the moment there’s only one place around Lake Tahoe offering snowbike rentals—and that’s Tahoe Snowbike Rental in Truckee. Equipped with brand new Timbersled snowbikes, they offer 2-hour custom guided tours based on your experience. If you’re even slightly into dirt bikes, this is pretty much guaranteed to be your new favorite sport.

We promise there’s nothing quite like a guided snowbike tour with Tahoe Snowbike Rentals . Fast turns, fresh powder—it’s as good as it gets.

Snowmobile Trail Guide

There’s actually not much action for self-guided snowmobile rentals in the area. But if you happen to trailer up your own sleds, you’ll want to check out this map of Lake Tahoe’s snowmobile trails and areas . It’s your best resource for staying safe and out of trouble. Turn to it for a map of Sno-Parks and parking areas, groomed trails and snowmobile boundaries.

The whole basin is filled with knowledgable guides, stupid-good views and fun trails that show off the best of the Sierras. All of the above providers will keep you safe and happy. So, as you embark on your Lake Tahoe snowmobiling adventure, all you really need to know is this: bring the balaclava.

Our Ultimate Ride go deep into the rugged Sierra Nevada above Hope Valley, California. Professional snowmobile guides – expert in off-trail, backcountry riding – lead small groups of riders. You’ll meet your guide in Hope Valley for a brief orientation and safety talk, then head out for a few quick warm-up turns. After that, the ride is limited only by the terrain and your group’s ability. With hundreds of square miles of terrain to explore, no two tours are alike. Elevations range from 7,200 feet at base to peaks of 10,000 feet and above. Mix in canyons, bowls, rivers, creeks, meadows, and alpine lakes, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful and challenging scenery in North America. The area also has some of the snowiest winters in the country. That means snowmobile season starts early in the year and stretches well into spring.

Snowmobile in Lake Tahoe

Experience a thrill as you snowmobile Tahoe and cruise through the powder at your own speed and level of adventure. South Lake Tahoe snowmobile companies offer rides from gentle, circular tracks through meadows with peekaboo lake views, to cruising along the Tahoe Rim trail with expansive views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra that contrast the glistening white snow against the sapphire blue of the lake.

Snowmobiling on track at Stateline

Alpine Snowmobiling Adventures

Snowmobile lake tahoe.

Lake Tahoe Adventures is a South Lake Tahoe snowmobile business located on Hwy 50 in Meyers. There’s a good amount of parking. Children under 15 can ride along with a paying adult free of charge. They transport guests on buses to the Hope Valley off Hwy 88 for a unique experience that climbs from the valley floor into the backcountry. There are incredible views of the surrounding peaks of the Sierra crestline and the area has historic significance as Kit Carson led the John C. Fremont Expedition .

Tahoe Snowmobiles is very convenient for people staying in the Stateline and Meyers areas. The Stateline Tahoe Snowmobiles site is located at the corner of Lake Parkway and Hwy 50 across from MontBleu Casino Resort. The Meyers area site is at Lake Tahoe Golf Course on Hwy 50. Snowmobiling in both locations is on circular tracks and in open meadow settings. The Stateline site offers views of Lake Tahoe and the Meyers area location has beautiful views of Mt. Tallac and the Sierra crestline. The Stateline site is also a family “one stop activity zone” as tubing and sleigh rides are available, too.

Zephyr Cove Snowmobile Center offers some adventurous snowmobile tours with options to customize the tour to be about as adventurous as you (safely) want. The tours leave from the Spooner Summit area and all have drop dead gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe from the Tahoe Rim Trail at about 9,000 feet. The only other places to see views of this nature are from the Heavenly Gondola and mid-station or from the top of Mt. Tallalc. Zephyr Cove adds convenience by picking guests up from many South Shore lodging properties and delivering them back after the tour. If one is missing warm clothing, Zephyr Cove has rentals.
