We Rode Disney’s NEW and Improved Star Tours Ride — Check It Out With Us!

A galaxy far, far away just got a little bit bigger!

Few attractions offer the kind of unique ride experience that Disneyland’s Star Tours — The Adventures Continue offers. First majorly updated in 2010, the ride was once again updated in 2015, 2017, and 2019 to include 700 different ride experiences.  Now in 2024, the ride is once again getting another update!

Star Tours — The Adventures continue at Disneyland, Disney’s Hollywood Studios , and Disneyland Paris all received an update on April 5th, 2024 to reflect new  Star Wars  Disney+ media and we were invited to get a FIRSTHAND LOOK! Check it out!

The new adventures include characters and locations from  Ahsoka, Andor,  and  The Mandalorian.  We got to experience these new adventures and we were absolutely blown away!

The pre-show was the same as usual. Also, our first scene was pod-racing on Tatooine — a scene we have experienced before.

Then came the exciting part — new characters! Din Djarin and Grogu sent a transmission with  The Mandalorian  theme song playing. Grogu snatched a flying frog while Djarin was giving us important intel which made for a fun 3D moment.

Then we made it to a planet featured in Ahsoka.  There, Ahsoka showed up to help us in battle with Purrgil (space whales). Beware — you may almost get eaten by one! We weren’t allowed to grab footage, but we love these new additions to the ride. We only saw the scenes from  Ahsoka  and  The Mandalorian —  we did not get  Andor  on our ride.

Accompanying the new Star Tours update at Disneyland is “Season of the Force” a Star Wars- themed event that will run from April 5th through June 2nd, 2024 . “Season of the Force” will include limited-time  Star Wars- themed food and merchandise as well as Fire of the Rising Moons (a NEW way to view the Disneyland fireworks from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge), Hyperspace Mountain overlay for Space Mountain , Seek and Find at The Star Trader, and Disneyland After Dark:  Star Wars Nite events.

Complete Guide to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Hollywood Studios

May the force be with you on this thrilling 3D space flight to legendary destinations from the  Star Wars  saga.

You’ll take to the stars with C-3PO and R2-D2. But watch out for some familiar, less-than-friendly faces like Kylo Ren or Darth Vader!

In 2024, more stories and characters will be added to Star Tours at Hollywood Studios. Further details haven’t been announced just yet, but we will let you know about the changes as soon as we learn more.

New Adventures Coming April 5, 2024

As announced at 2023 Destination D23, beginning April 5, Star Tours will include new locations and adventures from Ahsoka , Andor , and The Mandalorian .

Once added, the ride will have over 250 different adventure combinations for guest to experience.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue Quick Facts

• Tip(s): The exit area is a great Star Wars gift shop that has areas to build LEGO Star Wars characters and affordable light sabers. If this store seems too busy, you may have better luck at Once Upon a Toy store in Disney Springs where you can get the same items.
• Description: 3D flight simulator that takes guests through one of dozens of different Star Wars experiences including new characters and adventures from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as well as Star Wars: The Last Jed i and Batuu, the home planet of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue has a Standby Line and a Lightning Lane. There is no  Single Rider Line .

Do I need to use Genie+ at Star Tours – The Adventures Continue?

Genie+ is available at Star Tours – The Adventures Continue however this wouldn’t be an early priority ride to grab those Genie+ reservations because availability rarely runs out.

This ride is also available for Early Entry to those who qualify.

Rider Switch/Child Swap

Since you must be 40″ to ride Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, this attraction does offer Rider Switch.

Rider Switch is Disney’s system that allows guests with small children to take turns riding bigger rides, while another person/people wait with the little one.

What to Expect when you Ride

The queue at Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is designed to resemble a spaceport terminal.

You’ll see posters advertising voyages to different planets with Star Tours and a large LCD screen informing riders of flight statuses and planetary weather forecasts.

You’ll also see some of your favorite characters like C-3PO and R2-D2, as well as Captain Rex from the original attraction. He occasionally has a power surge and delivers a line from the first Star Tours ride.

Two G2 droids process passengers’ “luggage” on a scanning system that reveals the contents to you as you wait in the queue.

You’ll then retrieve your 3-D “flight glasses” before you are directed by a flight agent to a gate where you’ll wait to board.

While you wait, you’ll be entertained by a pre-show on the screen above you. C-3PO has been assigned to maintenance on the StarSpeeder 1000 that you’re about to board and he gets trapped in the cockpit after the ship’s captain leaves!

Make sure you then pay attention to the safety instructions before you board.

Play Disney Parks  is available for Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. This free mobile app is only available for select attractions and allows guests to pass the time as they play games, trivia, and earn achievements along the way.

Ride Vehicles

The ride vehicles at Star Tours – The Adventures Continue are large 3D flight simulators.

When the door to your flight simulator opens, make your way inside to the last available seat. There are four rows in the simulator and each row contains 10 individual seats with armrests and a place to store your personal items below.

Make sure you buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Accessibility Information

Guests who wish to ride Star Tours – The Adventures Continue must transfer from their ECV to a wheelchair and then to the ride vehicle.

Keep in mind, Disney has issued a warning that those who ride Star Tours – The Adventures Continue should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back, or neck problems. Expectant mothers should not ride.

Video and handheld captioning are available and those under 40″ are not allowed to ride.

Motion Sickness

Since Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is a 3D flight simulator, this ride is highly turbulent and includes sharp turns and sudden bumps which can aggravate motion sickness.

If you prefer to experience Star Tours – The Adventures Continue without spoilers, make sure you skip over this section!

Board your Starspeeder 1000 and prepare for takeoff! While you’re supposed to be heading off on a relaxing tour (hence Star Tours), a series of mishaps ends up launching you early, forcing C-3PO to take control.

But as soon as it appears that your trip is back on track, your ship is intercepted by Imperial — or First Order — forces searching for a Rebel spy. This spy is chosen from one of the guests on your ride vehicle— it could even be you!

To avoid capture and not give up your rebel passenger, you’ll be taken on the ride of a lifetime to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.

Since the attraction features several different segments that are selected randomly, your ride will be different each time! You may end up facing off with First Order villain Kylo Ren, bounty hunter Boba Fett, Princess Leia, or Jedi Master Yoda.

Just a few of the scenes you may encounter is a narrow escape from a battle on the planet Crait, following Scout Troopers as they chase after Chewbacca and a Wookiee warrior on Kashyyk, or discovering the still-to-be-finished Death Star.

With so many story twists, you never know where you’ll go or who you may encounter on your Star Tour!

Is Star Tours – The Adventures Continue Kid-Friendly?

The height requirement for Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is 40″ and there can be some dark moments during the action so this ride is more for older kids, tweens, teens, and adults.

We have a list of things that may scare little ones at Disney World that you can check out, if you’d like.

Strollers are not allowed in most queues or theaters at Walt Disney World.

You’ll need to leave your stroller in the designated stroller parking area near the entrance to the queue at Star Tours – The Adventures Continue.

In 1986 Disney and George Lucas, the creator of  Star Wars , partnered on the Captain EO attraction, a 3-D musical film starring Michael Jackson at Disneyland. Since the partnership was so successful Disney then approached Lucas with the idea for Star Tours.

The original Star Tours ride opened on January 9, 1987 in California’s Disneyland. Two years later, Star Tours opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, then known as Disney’s MGM Studios.

Set in the  Star Wars  universe, the motion simulator attraction sent guests on a tour to Endor, where they got caught in an altercation between the New Republic and an Imperial Remnant. The attraction featured Captain “Rex” RX-24 along with series regulars R2-D2 and C-3PO.

In 1998, Disney began planning to upgrade Star Tours as part of the release of the upcoming 1999 film  Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace , the first film of the new prequel trilogy.

This version would be in 3D and feature new flights. However, since more films for the franchise were in pre-production, officials chose to wait until 2003 when production began on  Revenge of the Sith  before remodeling Star Tours.

In April 2005, at  Star Wars  Celebration III, creator George Lucas confirmed that a revamp of Star Tours was in production. Then at the 2009 D23 Expo it was announced that Star Tours at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios would close in October 2010 for renovations.

The rides would reopen in May and June 2011 as Star Tours – The Adventures Continue.

On August 14, 2010, Hollywood Studios hosted the “Last Tour To Endor” event for Celebration V attendees. This extravaganza included an appearance by George Lucas, character appearances, Jedi Training Academy, Death Star Disco,  Raiders Of The Lost Jedi Temple of Doom: A Fan Film of Epic Proportions  live show, Hyperspace Hoopla, and  Symphony in the Stars  fireworks.

It also included the Star Tours shutdown ceremony which was a live show with C-3PO, R2-D2, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, as well as a few Stormtroopers, culminating in the official power-down of Star Tours.

The ride remained open until September 7, 2010, when the attraction held its “Final Flight to Endor” for D23 members.

In Orlando, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue began soft openings on May 14, 2011, with the official opening held at midnight on May 20, 2011.

Since its opening, the planet Jakku from  The Force Awakens  has been added to the attraction as well as the planet Crait from  The Last Jedi  and Batuu, from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Finally, the ocean moon Kef Bir from  The Rise of Skywalker  was added on December 20, 2019, the film’s release date.

In 2023, Disney announced at Destination D23 that Ahoska would be added to Star Tours in spring 2024 .

Other Fun Details

• Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is inspired by all nine films of the Star Wars Skywalker saga: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Episode IV – A New Hope, Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Empire VI – Return of the Jedi, Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, and Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker .
• There are Star Tours attractions at four different Disney Parks around the world: Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland in California.

• The exteriors of all four Star Tours attractions are different in their respective parks. The attraction in Florida is inspired by an Ewok village on the forest moon of Endor.
• Listen closely just before boarding your spaceship. You may hear a reference to THX1138. THX1138 was in all of the Star Wars movies because it was the name of George Lucas’ first movie, so he included it in all of the Star Wars films as a nod to his origin.
• Other boarding call announcements in the first area of the indoor wait queue gives names that are actually anagrams for people like  Star Wars  creator George Lucas (“Egroeg Sacul”) and Tom Morrow (“Mot Worrom”). When you reach the baggage check area, many different Disney attractions and franchises like Haunted Mansion ,  Toy Story, Aladdin, WALL-E, The Incredibles , and  Captain EO get cameos as G2-9T scans boarding IDs. 
• Paul Reubens, perhaps better known for his famous character, Pee Wee Herman, was actually the voice of Captain RX-24 (Rex) in the original Star Tours ride. He was the pilot talking as R2-D2 was being loaded. In the new version of the ride, you can see him in the droid maintenance section in the queue.

• Patrick Warburton, who is known for delivering the safety spiel before boarding Soarin’ at Epcot and for also voicing Kronk in Emperor’s New Groove , is the voice of security officer G2-4Ton Star Tours — The Adventures Continue. You can spot him as you pass through a series of security scanners.
• As part of the attraction, you’ll see scenes with archival footage of Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher. The dialogue, however, is re-recorded. Carrie Fisher collaborated with Imagineers to re-record her dialogue so that it fits the attraction seamlessly.
• While the original Star Tours ride didn’t open until 1989, Imagineers originally had an idea for a simulator ride themed to another Disney movie. The 1979 live-action film  The Black Hole  followed astronauts investigating a mysterious spaceship inside a black hole, but it was a commercial flop. This, combined with the high costs for the planned ride, led to the concept being scrapped. It wasn’t until Disney partnered with George Lucas and Lucasfilm in 1986, that the simulator idea was revisited, this time with Star Wars in mind.

Based on the Star Wars saga, this was Disney’s first modern simulator ride. Guests ride in a flight simulator modeled after those used for training pilots and astronauts, experiencing dips, turns, twists, and climbs. The ride film, projected in high-definition 3-D, has more than 50 combinations of opening and ending scenes, including clips from The Force Awakens. You could ride Star Tours all day without seeing the same scenes twice. The downside to Star Tours is that it’s not in Galaxy’s Edge.

The company’s social media accounts have advised people to watch tonight’s episode of “American Idol,” the posts read, for a special announcement as “we gear up to celebrate the opening” of the ride at Walt Disney World .

The posts include images with the animated version of Tiana, one of the royals in “The Princess and the Frog,” plus Louis the trumpet-playing alligator and a trio of animals riding a log down a watery slope.

It’s Disney Night on Sunday’s episode of  “American Idol,” and it reportedly will include a guest performance by Jenifer Lewis signing “Dig a Little Deeper,” an upbeat, inspirational tune from the 2009 movie. Lewis gave voice to Mama Odie in the animated film.

Disney has shared many details  about the attraction since it was announced in June 2020. What Disney hasn’t said yet: Its opening date. ( UPDATE: After the social media posts were up Sunday morning, an official Disney World site posted that opening day will be June 28. But it was soon taken down. Stay tuned. )

Previous announcements broadly indicated a launch time of sometime this summer. (The version planned for Disneyland in California is said to be opening “later this year.”)

We know the ride’s story will take place after the events of the movie, that New Orleans music and culture play a role, there will be advanced animatronics in action and some new characters. The voices of some actors from the film (including Lewis) will be heard.

Greenery and other effects have been added to the exterior of the retired Splash Mountain attraction to form Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and a new tiara-topped water tower that was constructed there advertises the princess’s company.

Jack Blocker, Abi Carter, Triston Harper, Will Moseley and Emmy Russell are the five singers left in the competition, and they’ll all sing two Disney-oriented songs on Sunday.  Harper will sing “Almost There” from “The Princess and the Frog.”

Other films represented in the program include “Cars,” “Cars 2,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Toy Story 4,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Onward,” “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” “D3: The Mighty Ducks” and “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”

The two-hour episode of “American Idol” starts at 8 p.m. on Disney-owned ABC . Viewers will determine the three performers who advance to the finale on May 19.

Disney Announces Opening Date for 'Princess and the Frog' Ride — and We're 'Almost There'

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will welcome park goers on a musical adventure taking place where the Walt Disney Animation Studios film left off.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially open on June 28 at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World, the company announced Sunday night.

The long-awaited announcement of the reimagined Splash Mountain ride was announced on American Idol. The ride itself will welcome park goers on a musical adventure taking place where the Walt Disney Animation Studios film left off. The log-flume style attraction will culminate with a thrilling 50-foot, five-story drop familiar to those who rode its previous version.

Authenticity was at the forefront of the project as Disney worked directly with the city of New Orleans while bringing its culture to life. Riders will be transported to the magical land of the bayou, complete with flowing Spanish moss and water lilies. The next chapter of Tiana’s story sees her preparing to host a special celebration during Mardi Gras season. Familiar songs from the film will be used to tell the story along with original compositions fusing zydeco music and jazz. An immersive French Quarter-inspired queue will pipe in the scent of freshly fried beignets. 

Walt Disney Imagineering has tapped the latest in pioneering technology for the ride, including their most advanced audio-animatronics yet. These state-of-the-art audio-animatronics will have a more fluid range of motion than ever resulting in lifelike movements and deeper immersive storytelling abilities. These first debuted at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland.  Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will include dozens of these new sophisticated audio-animatronics, including those depicting familiar faces from the movie, like Princess Tiana, Louis, Mama Odie, Eudora, Prince Naveen, and more. The ride will also feature a brand-new merry band of musical critters . Anika Nona Rose will reprise her role from the film voicing Princess Tiana along with Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie, and Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis.

Previews are expected ahead of the June 28th public opening for Florida-based Cast Members, Annual Passholders, and eligible Disney Vacation Club Members. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to open later this year at Disneyland Resort.

Russia has opened its first large scale theme park and it's all indoors

It's been years in the making but  Moscow 's Dream Island finally opened last week as Russia 's answer to Disneyland.

Ostrov Mechty or Dream Island is a brand new theme park that launched on Saturday, 29 February in Moscow. It's Russia's first large-scale theme park and the largest indoor theme park in Europe at 300,000 square metres. It has a very slight Disneyland aesthetic with a fairytale castle as the centrepiece (the Snow Queen's castle instead of Cinderella's) but bears no connection to the popular amusement park. According to architects  Chapman Taylor , the design was inspired by the Gothic buildings of western Europe, as well as historic Kremlin architecture.

Like Disney, it hosts different worlds (nine in total) filled with amusements, rides, and cartoon characters including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Smurfs , Hello Kitty , Hotel Transylvania and the Russian adaptations of the Jungle Book and Pinocchio.

In the park, there are promenades designed to look like different cities with building and shopfront facades inspired by the architecture of London , Rome , Los Angeles and Barcelona . In 'Rome' there's a mini Colosseum, in 'Barcelona' there are Gaudi-style buildings and in 'London' visitors can pose next to red phone boxes and royal guards.

According to Reuters , the main glass dome that covers the park is "several times larger than the dome at the Galeries Lafayette in Paris and more than double the size of the one atop the German Reichstag in Berlin." Which is a good thing. With everything taking place indoors, people don't need to worry about the long, cold Moscow winters or sweltering summers.

The park is home to more than 15 cafes, restaurants and food trucks, as well as stores and boutiques selling everything from souvenirs to homeware and clothes. There are plans to introduce a cinema, Ferris Wheel and a concert venue soon with the second phase of the park, as well as a four-star hotel and zones for picnics, sports and family activities.

The New York Times reports that the park expects 7.5 million visitors a year, with 2.5 million of those visitors being tourists. Weekend tickets for a family-of-four cost 11,000 rubles or about $163. For more information, see here .

Not very. It does not capitalize at all on anything that would be recognisable as Russia-specific, not even popular home-made cartoon characters. The park looks and feels like it could have been anywhere in the world and was built clearly to mimic a typical theme park, such as Disneyland or a Universal theme park. Rides were mostly built and installed by companies that have installed similar rides in other parks around the world, and have been certified by a German company that specialises in theme park ride certification (not something we really have in Russia). The rides are all classified for permitted use based on rider's height, like elsewhere in the world.

“Character branding” makes heavy use of licensed characters like Hello Kitty, the Smurfs and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Hello Kitty and Smurf themes are used as theme zones for smaller children, with rides typical for such a park worldwide. One ride in the Hello Kitty zone is quite similar to Disney's well-known spinning teacups, but there will also be a beauty salon for little princesses. Sanrio, the owner of the Hello Kitty brand, will run a daily thematic show similar, again, to one they do in other parks. The Smurf zone, designed for smaller kids, reminds of the Dr. Seuss zone in the Universal theme park in Florida, or the Dumbo ride for the little ones in Disneyland.

The branding the park considers proprietary and localized is still based on internationally recognised themes that one does not usually associate with Russia - for example, the zone containing the park’s most thrilling ride is called Mowgli in the Land of Dinosaurs, both themes being quite generic, but neither particularly associated with Russia. Animatronic life-scale dinosaurs glare and roar at you in the jungle-themed zone. 

Other zones are based on the Snow Queen, a fairy tale by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen that is very popular in Russia, and Pinocchio.

The rides and design concepts are all, to a degree, modeled on international prototypes and built by foreign contractors. The promenade zones that emulate well-known city streets and replicate some famous buildings are also a signature of various international entertainment environments (not least of all, the famous Las Vegas strip). 

The press office says they are often asked about the park’s perceived “non-Russianness” with apparent scorn, but bringing in international teams to design the rides and zones was inevitable, as Russia simply does not have this sort of expertise, because, well, it never had theme parks up until now. 

Is it like any park you may have been to?

Almost unexpectedly at this point, we’d have to say - Disneyland. It is decidedly a family park, and offerings tend to balance towards smaller kids. Its indoor nature precluded the installation of large-scale roller coasters, like you would see at Six Flags, Thorpe Park or Alton Towers. Both Disneyland and Universal make use of their outdoor locations to some extent, offering water-based rides - but you won't see any here. 

However, the sort of rides it does have are the most reminiscent of those parks - guests driven along a corridor decorated with characters and music (in this case, from the Hotel Transylvania animated movie) is a concept similar to Disney’s ‘It’s a small world!’, little kid zones and character greetings, smaller-scale thrill rides for the older ones (Disney and Universal do have semi-indoor versions of roller coasters, including one in the dark, and indoor thrill flights, both replicated here).

Both Disney and Universal have 4D-style rides, based on visitors sitting in a pod and being shown a video that makes it feel like they are on a roller coaster, in space or are falling (such as, a typical Star Wars ride at Disney or the Simpsons ride at Universal Florida). This is used heavily at Dream Island, but the offering is upgraded with more modern tech: the modestly looking coaster with sharp turns is enhanced by VR goggles that make you experience what it's like to be a race car driver. In another instance, a traditional “drop tower”, for lack of actual height, is enhanced with 4D and video in order to increase the thrill level.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles zone is a relatively “high thrills” zone for older visitors, and features the park’s only roller coaster. Most of the ride is in the dark, with comic-based “surprises” springing unexpectedly out at you. Its NYC subway-themed design of postindustrial devastation seems straight out of a generic international theme park and is more typical of a roller-coaster based park, such as Thorpe park in England.

Essentially, the park is newer and shinier than most of its prototypes – thanks to newer technology and solutions. 

Who owns it, where is it and is it actually an Island?

The park is entirely privately-owned by Regions Group, which is controlled by businessman Amiran Mutsoev. The investment is said to be approximately $1.5 billion. It is not actually an island, but a peninsula of sorts, with the Moskva River hugging it on three sides. It’s located next to the Tekhnopark station on Moscow Metro line 2 (the green line). 

Should you go?

Emphatically, yes! - whatever your expectations of a “Russian Disneyland” were, they will probably be met or exceeded. Move over, Disney, and tell Universal the news!

But perhaps, not yet. Even though the park officially opens this weekend, on February 29, 2020, about a year behind the initially anticipated opening, not all of its rides will yet be fully operational. The remaining rides are said to be available by the end of May 2020, so plan for the summer.

Other things to note are: the promenade zones will be fully open to the public (they are hoping for up to 50 million visitors a year), and you will only need tickets, which can be purchased at the ticket office in the promenade, online or at ticket vending machines, to get into the actual theme park. 

Tickets are circa $40, with various options for families and concessions.

A Gentleman in Moscow episode 7, "An Assembly," is the show's penultimate installment, and places itself in a key moment in Russian history. Alexander Rostov's time in Moscow's Metropol Hotel stretches even further, but with his imprisonment now much more bearable due to the presence of his found family in Anna and Sofia. "An Assembly" is the next stage in A Gentleman in Moscow 's tense and slow-burning narrative, with the return of familiar faces as the country's political landscape shifts once again.

Episode 7 of the adaptation of Amor Towles' 2016 novel continues to abide by real historical milestones while keeping the cast of A Gentleman in Moscow away from the heart of established events. With just one episode remaining, the goings-on in "An Assembly" set up what is sure to be a thrilling and possibly deeply emotional affair for every character within the story. Alexander Rostov may be living the best life available to him , but it looks as though at least part of that happiness is set to end in one way or another.

8 Joseph Stalin Is Dead

Last seen in A Gentleman in Moscow episode 4 , "Good Times," Alexander's university friend has been imprisoned for his anti-Russian rant in the bar of the Metropol Hotel. At the time, it was unclear if he was being taken away to be executed, but "An Assembly" reveals he is alive. Mishka's time in Siberia has left him with physical and mental scars , with the exhaustion caused by his escape resulting in almost a full day of sleep.

6 Sofia's Musical Talents Are Taking Her Out Of The Country

The hard work of alexander's daughter has paid off.

In the previous episode, Sofia had started to learn how to play the piano, and she turned out to be something of a natural. By the time of "As Assembly," the six-year gap has afforded her ample time to hone her craft even more. Early in A Gentleman in Moscow episode 7, it's revealed that Sofia will be headed on tour - playing in cities such as Paris, Prague, and Minsk. Due to Alexander's incarceration, this will be a huge milestone that he will unfortunately miss. The disappointment and sadness is easy to read on the face of Ewan McGregor's character.

Sofia arrived at the Metropol at a very young age , and while she is fully aware that Alexander is not her biological father, she still calls him " Papa ," with the pair having a relationship indistinguishable from that of a more traditional father and daughter. If the finale of A Gentleman in Moscow features another time jump, it could be that Sofia has a reduced role due to her absence - if she appears at all.

5 A Gentleman In Most Episode 7 Finally Shows The Poem That Spared Alexander's Life

Mishka's poem was mentioned as far back as A Gentleman in Moscow episode 1 , "A Master of Circumstance." Although the poem was actually penned by Mishka, it was attributed to Alexander, as he was less likely to suffer any political backlash that could occur. It was labeled a " Call to revolutionary action " at Alexander's trial in the show's opening episode, and as such, McGregor's character was spared the death penalty that saw the end of so many of his other social peers.

There is an artistic connection between the Metropol and Alexander in A Gentleman in Moscow that could foreshadow the Russian count's fate.

The original version of the poem is Mishka's parting gift to Alexander , along with a photo of the two friends together during their university days. The piece's title - "Where Is Our Purpose Now?" - is poetically reflective of Mishka's situation in "An Assembly." After falling victim to the regime that he so heavily bought into, Mishka is left without direction, and more fittingly, without purpose.

4 Leplevsky May Have Been Involved In The Death Of Sofia's Parents

The metropol's manager has long been a gentleman in moscow's biggest villain.

It's been clear from the start that Leplevsky dislikes Alexander, going back to when the hotel's manager was just a waiter in the Metropol's restaurant. However, it would seem the same distaste also extends to Sofia and possibly her birth parents. Leplevsky knew Nina when she was very small , and so has watched both mother and daughter grow up within the walls of the Metropol - but the process doesn't seem to have softened him in the slightest.

While claiming to Sofia that he tried to "help" Nina during her younger years, Leplevsky also goes on to say that due to Nina's, " Corrupt nature and moral bankruptcy meant it was inevitable that she would rebel ."

3 Anna Urbanova Finally Admits She Loves Alexander Rostov

Alexander and Anna's relationship hasn't exactly been conventional, but it's been relatively steady considering Alexander's restrictive circumstances. When Alexander is trying to end the relationship in his signature guarded fashion due to his upcoming acts of espionage, he tells Anna he doesn't want her to be involved. Anna's reply is concise: " You fool. I am involved. I've been involved for thirty years, I love you. Despite how his country has treated him, Alexander is still a staunch patriot , which makes what he does in "An Assemble" a big deal. He is essentially sharing state secrets with the enemy by informing his American companion of whom the country's next leader will be. Things may not change as far as Alexander's day-to-day life is concerned, but the impact could affect the rest of the nation's citizens.

1 Osip Glebnikov Is Concerned About The Country's Political Shift

Alexander and osip have developed an uneasy alliance through the decades.

Osip Glebnikov has been one of the few constant figures in Alexander Rostov's life since the beginning of A Gentleman in Moscow . Although Osip has essentially been Alexander's prison guard, the pair have managed to carve out something approaching a friendship from the situation. Osip has benefited from Alexander's lessons on etiquette, and without doing Osip that favor, it's unlikely Alexander would have received so much assistance when trying to sneak back into the hotel after taking Sofia to the hospital in A Gentleman in Moscow episode 6. However, Alexander will have to do without Osip's companionship going forward .

Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of Ewan McGregor's most famous characters, so it makes the connection to one of his new castmates hard to ignore.

As a result of his foray into the world of espionage, Alexander discovers that Nikita Khrushchev will be the man to succeed Joseph Stalin as the country's leader. Earlier in the episode, Osip reveals what will happen to him as a result of such a decision: " My immediate superiors have already been excised. If Khrushchev takes control, everyone associated with the old order will meet the same fate. " Osip has long been a follower of how the Soviet Union operates, and so Khrushchev taking the reins would seem to be the end of Osip's safety in A Gentleman in Moscow .
