All you have to do is to enjoy the beauty of the Mekong and relax as our boat takes you along stunning sunset sceneries in the Luang Prabang area… Our sunset point out of the town riverbanks, and we are the only boat sailing there. That means the sunset is for you, and just for you. The Khopfa boat is specially designed to give you 360° views of the sceneries from its terraces, so that you can enjoy every minute of your Sunset Cruise. While on board, we will serve you a refreshing welcome drink and snacks so that you start the Sunset Cruise serenely. The boat sails for 2 hours, and the Sunset Cruise starts between 4.15pm and 5.30pm depending on the season and the sunset time. Can’t Miss the Moment at Mount Phousi

A quick image search of “Sunsets Mount Phousi” will have you lacing up your trainers in no time. Be sure to get there early because the best viewing spots go to the early arrivals. While the excitement can be enough to forget your surroundings, Mount Phousi is a sacred area so be sure to keep your knees & shoulders covered, avoid the BeerLao vendors, & behave as if you were in any other Wat in the city. There is a fee of 20,000LAK to make the 300+ stair climb. However, that is a small price to pay for an iconic experience.

Hide Out at NamKhan EcoLodge

Looking to fill your schedule with relaxation? NamKhan Ecolodge will take care of that for you. No worries if you don’t have a kitchen available or won’t be walking past the Night Market in town, just outside the entrance to the monument (no fee for entry) are several street food stalls. Travelers with little ones will enjoy visiting the That Luang Night Bazaar , directly across the street from the monument, for rides, games, & a more local experience.

Get on the Water with a Nava Mekong Sunset Cruise

The popular Nava Mekong Sunset Cruise operates Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday so there’s no reason to miss the boat ;) With a departure time of 5pm (return around 8pm), even travelers with only 1 day to explore Luang Prabang can fit this cruise into their schedule. Included in the $35 ticket is a too good to miss traditional dance and Lao set dinner.

We took a public taxi boat to a small village on the other side of the Mekong River. It really seemed like a whole different world than Luang Prabang- I didn’t see a single other tourist! The guide was good and adapted the tour to do a bit more biking since I wanted to be active. The pottery was excellent- the man there was an amazing teacher, and it was fun to make my own art. The only suggestion I have is in regards to lunch. They seem to automatically make the food not spicy at all for tourists. However, some tourists like myself like spice. Perhaps they could ask us ahead of time if we would like chilis in the food. The food was good, but everything besides the soup was served cold. Great authentic tour. I highly recommend. It was a terrific experience, especially visiting the local Hmong and Khmu villages and the beautiful nature hike through the jungle. It is not a difficult hike and the scenery is worth it. Since the first contact he built a wonderful program , including amazing laotian experiences that could teach us about Laos life and traditions. The program mixed Cultural visits, workshops, cooking experiences, biking, waterfalls… we really enjoyed the 3 days tour with our kids. Thank you so much to Somsay and our guide Mr.Bee! We hiked some 10km through beautiful hillsides, Hmong and Khmu villages, had lunch in a cedar forest, and met farmers, textile artisans and school children. We could interact with free range goats and pigs, cows, chickens and puppies. We tasted all sorts of wild fruits and picked chili peppers. We saw so much more than the usual bus or boat tour would give. It was a memorable day, and Phieng was very knowledgeable and attentive. We would definitely choose him as a guide again. So many fruits and interesting things i‘ve never seen before. Oun is a well known local and could answer all of my questions. • _g_v_l_2013 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Just an excellent service I was let down by a tour organised by my hotel (the driver didn’t speak English and told us he couldn’t take us to the waterfall through google translate- which was odd as that’s the tour our hotel booked?!), so stranded at the side of the road with 2 kids, straight away I messaged Somsay & team on WhatsApp, recommended by a friend, who basically took 15 minutes to find me a replacement trip to the waterfalls to pick me up there & then who not only spoke great English but messaged a lot and was super helpful when we got lost and picked us up in a different place! They provided such a good service I asked Somsay to book me a boat tour the next day and again they didn’t disappoint, highly communicative guide (Lae, who spoke great English & had a great can-do attitude) - who messaged me the day before to remind us it may be cold on the boat to pack an extra layer - really enjoyed it all and it’s a relief to have a great, reliable service, plus convenient link to pay with Apple Pay. The tour down the Mekong river visiting Park Ou, Kuangsi Waterfalls was amazing. First he picked us up and we went to a local food market to get ingredients for the later cooking. He explained and answered all our questions and it was so nice being with the locals at a non touristic market. Afterwards we went to the beautiful bamboo experience house where some of Somsays family did the Baci ceremony with us, such a beautiful setting and experience, everyone was so kind and welcoming and Somsay again explained a lot about the lao culture and religion. Next we had a cooking class and prepared delicious food with two chefs who were absolutely great and such fun. We really enjoyed it and would totally recommend to everyone! Started our day with a coffee (or whatever your morning drink might be), and delicious breakfast at one of the town's most renowned local noodle shops --> then off to our adventures. Markets, shops, pathways and grass-ways: we sampled so many new and interesting foods that are best known from Luang Prabang, that kept our energy high. Mister Somsay is cheerful as he greets the vendors with smiles and chats...his English is near perfect, and translates anything you wish. Highly recommend this experience: time well enjoyed.
