Combs is currently celebrating the release of his new album, Gettin’ Old–a companion to his acclaimed 2022 record, Growin’ Up–which was released earlier this spring via River House Artists/Columbia Nashville (stream/purchase here). Receiving critical acclaim, The New York Times praises, “…grounded in country, complete with fiddle fills, but it’s also pointed toward a wide pop audience” while Billboard proclaims, “his electrifying-yet-earthy voice soundtracking this time in his life as a husband, father and entertainer at the top of his game” and American Songwriter declares, “He’s a rock star at this point.” Produced by Combs, Chip Matthews and Jonathan Singleton, Gettin’ Old is Combs’ fourth full-length album following Growin’ Up, 2019’s What You See is What You Get and This One’s For You.

Topgolf live stadium tour coming to beaver stadium june 2022.

tour of beaver stadium

The Topgolf Live Stadium Tour will make its way to Beaver Stadium from June 2 to 5, Penn State announced on Tuesday. Through the experience, fans will get the chance to tee off from the stands and virtually hit the links in the home of Penn State football.

Through its tour, Topgolf is turning some of America’s most famous sports venues into driving ranges. Fans are able to tee up from the stands and aim at targets located on the field. Topgolf uses tracing technology to track the distance, speed, and accuracy of the ball. With targets at different distances, fans of all levels are able to compete through scoring.

Tickets for Topgolf at Beaver Stadium will go on sale Thursday, April 7, following a pre-sale on April 5. Parties of up to six are able to reserve a bay for one-hour reservations. Tickets will be sold exclusively through Ticketmaster .

Here’s a breakdown of the pricing, according to Penn State:

  • $40 for Penn State student hours
  • $80 for non-peak hours
  • $90 for peak hours
  • $10 for spectator tickets
  • Note: Parking is included in Topgolf Live Stadium Tour pricing.

Golf clubs will be provided for golfers. Outside clubs will be prohibited for safety reasons, Topgolf says. Additional safety measures include disinfecting golf clubs, tables and bays, washing balls, and hand sanitizers being placed throughout the venue.

The Topgolf Live Stadium Tour has already visited Fenway Park, Heinz Field, Soldier Field, and many more venues. This summer, it will add Dodger Stadium, T-Mobile Park, and, of course, Beaver Stadium to that list.

Back in November, a newly formed Centre County-based sports and entertainment commission noted Topgolf as a possible option at Penn State. Topgolf’s arrival at Beaver Stadium will mark the first product of that new partnership between the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau and Penn State.

Inside Penn State's first concert at Beaver Stadium

No event is ever going to be perfect and for Beaver Stadium's first go around at hosting a concert the 107,000-seat venue was transformed into a lively party for a much smaller crowd.

Audrey Snyder 7/8/2017 11:33:20 PM

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- No event is ever going to be perfect and, for Beaver Stadium's first time hosting a concert, the 107,000-seat venue was transformed into a lively party headlined by country artist Blake Shelton .

"I don't get to play in Beaver Stadium every day of my life," Shelton said looking out into the crowd about an hour into his set.

While many traded in their blue and white apparel for overalls and cowboy hats, the Happy Valley Jam was the first attempt by Penn State athletics to use the massive stadium more than the standard handful of times per year for football. Moving forward, they will have to continue finding ways to use the stadium and while that likely will mean more concerts, it also could mean the potential for international soccer and, of course, the NHL's Winter Classic that's been discussed for years.

• Penn State needed to go out on a limb and try this. Could they have done better with a bigger artist? Most likely. Were ticket sales ideal? Probably not and as of Saturday at 11 p.m. Basis Entertainment hadn't released a final number of tickets sold. But, this looked like a solid starting point.

***premium***

A stadium that seats more than 100,000 is undoubtedly going to have gaps for a concert, so while the capacity was 70,000 -- a number this week Penn State said they never planned to hit -- one has to wonder financially what the gain was. That remains unclear, but in the future this event and ones like it showed promise. In the days leading up the the show, Penn Stat's goal was 30,000 tickets sold. It would seem likely that they were in that range, but we'll have to wait for a final count in the coming days.

People showed up early in the afternoon and set up tailgates that lasted well into the evening. Getting people here is half the battle given the location. The crowd was loud and the concert kept schedule with Shelton taking the stage at 9:30 p.m. sharp. That's not always the case with shows like this that have four artists ahead of the headliner.

There's certainly room for improvement, but maybe Penn State should tell the students kickoff is at 11 a.m. and not noon so they too will show up early like this crowd did.

• The views were fantastic. While the stage didn't feature an elaborate catwalk like some stadium shows do -- and somewhere the football grounds crew is likely thankful for that -- the stadium looked good. Penn State got a perfect night for it. Check out this view from the roof around 7 p.m.:

tour of beaver stadium

And the same view around 10:15 p.m.:

• Cowboy Troy , a key part of Big & Rich's shows, pumped up the crowd with this line: "Ain’t no party like a Penn State party cause a Penn State party don’t ever stop." The crowd broke out some 'We Are!' chants throughout the evening and none of the artists called State College by the wrong name -- as in College Station -- so that's a plus.

• Given the size of the crowd and people tailgating through the day traffic to and from was manageable. That's not always the case during football season so that was a pleasant surprise even given all the construction that's underway on campus.

• Penn State's new security group was also used, the second time they've used them, the first being the Blue-White Game.

• Solid ending after Shelton's two-song encore:

Fireworks on top of the Beaver Stadium scoreboard to close it out. Playing Sweet Caroline as people leave. Next up? Football season. pic.twitter.com/R41BCe3EO2 — Audrey Snyder (@audsnyder4) July 9, 2017

• Hey, I had fun getting out and checking out something different so I can't ask for much more in July. It's good to bring some other events to this area, especially this time of year when it's pretty quiet otherwise with only summer classes going on. Only eight more Saturdays until there's meaningful football played back in here.

• Getting on and off of the floor, where an estimated 7,000 guests were supposed to be was a constant traffic jam. Everyone had to use the same entrance and exit, which is Penn State's usual tunnel for home games. It's a narrow space to begin with and trying to move thousands of people in and out, while checking wristbands and having others walking off the floor created a line that extended well into the concourse.

Interestingly enough, earlier this week when I asked Basis Entertainment President and CEO Gary DeWaard what challenges this particular venue presented compared to those at other stadiums he also mentioned that pesky entrance way in front of the student section. All of the equipment to set up the stage and the floor -- a process that began on July 4th -- had to be moved in through that space. When it's all broken down and moved out of town that too will go through the same place.

Remember that facility master plan? Well, we'll have to see if this is something that comes into play with it.

• No seat is ever going to be perfect, but if one pays $85-plus and is on the back of the floor they should have a better view than this half side of the stage with the soundboard in front of them:

tour of beaver stadium

• I took a stroll around the stadium something I've maybe done once or twice before. My goal was to see if the acoustics were good or if there was an echo in some spots. There definitely was an echo on the sides which is one of the worst ways to experience a show, but I've heard worse. As the crowd thinned toward the end the echo grew worse, as expected.

As the friendly usher told me "Hey, it's the first one. The trial run."

• At one point, the beer line was at least 50 people deep. Granted this was toward the end of Chris Young 's set so right before Shelton hit the stage, but that's how most of these stadium shows are anyway.

• We'll have to wait and see if there was an uptick in alcohol-related incidents inside the stadium since Beaver Stadium allowed beer sales to the public. While those in suites are allowed to consume alcohol during football games the $8 beers and the lines that went with them were a new experience for many. Given that it was a beautiful night the beers looked to be flowing pretty freely we'll have to see if that results in football-weekend type numbers or if this was a more reserved crowd.

Penn State won't allow alcohol sales for football games in the concourse, but I'm curious to see how this goes because maybe one day that will be a thing. Maybe.

The Topgolf Live Stadium Tour is Coming to Penn State

  • Author: Mark Wogenrich

In this story:

Penn State Nittany Lions

Topgolf is coming to Penn State's Beaver Stadium. The nation's second-largest stadium will host a pop-up version of the popular golf experience in June, allowing fans to hit golf balls inside the iconic football venue.

Beaver Stadium will host a stop on Topgolf's 2022 Live Stadium Tour, which brings the high-tech driving range to football and baseball venues nationwide. The four-day Topgolf experience at Beaver Stadium runs June 2-5. Players can begin reserving tee times in one-hour windows April 7 .

Each hitting bay can accommodate six players. Pricing is as follows:

$90 during peak hours (Thursday: 4:50-10:30 p.m.; Friday: 4:50-11:40 p.m.; Saturday: 9:50 a.m.-1:10 p.m. & 8:20-11:40 p.m.; Sunday: 9:50 a.m.-8:10 p.m.)

$80 during non-peak hours (Thursday/Friday: 11 a.m.-4:40 p.m.)

$40 during Penn State student hours (Thursday/Friday: 11 a.m.-noon; Saturday: 8:40-9:40 a.m.)

Penn State is offering a $185 VIP package that also includes a tour of Beaver Stadium and one green fee at the Penn State White Course.

The Topgolf experience is part driving range, part bowling alley and part nightclub. Players hit golf balls at short-range targets, and tracer technology tracks the shot's flight path and accuracy and keeps score.

At Beaver Stadium, players will hit shots from the concourse to targets staged from 60 to 140 yards away. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Mount Nittany Club.

The 2022 Topgolf Live Stadium Tour already has visited Dodger Stadium, T-Mobile Park in Seattle and Mississippi's Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. It is scheduled to stop at Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium in April. Launched in 2021, the tour also has visited Neyland Stadium and Fenway Park.

Penn State officials have discussed many ways to monetize Beaver Stadium outside of football season. In 2021, the university announced the formation of the Happy Valley Sports and Entertainment Commission to bring experiences such as Topgolf to Beaver Stadium.

The Commission, a partnership between Penn State and the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, seeks to bring concerts, international soccer matches, hockey games and other events to State College.

"We're sitting here in the second-largest stadium in the United States of America, fourth-largest in the world," Fritz Smith, president and CEO of the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, said at the November announcement. "And it has always struck me that the very presence of this facility means that we need to stretch and we need to think big, and we need to have a vision for what we can be here in terms of sports and entertainment in Centre County."

Luke Combs Breaks Attendance Records At Each Stop Of First Three Weekends On ‘Growin’ Up And Gettin’ Old’ Stadium Tour

tour of beaver stadium

Luke Combs is doin’ it BIG.

The country superstar kicked off his headlining 2024 stadium tour at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin back on April 12th, and has also played Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, New York and Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania in subsequent weeks.

And today, it was revealed that he performed to record-breaking crowds during each of the first three weekends of the tour:

“He achieved the highest single-night and two-night attendance at Milwaukee’s American Family Field with 44,752 and 90,828 attendees, respectively, the highest two-night attendance at Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium with 99,671 attendees, and the highest-selling and highest-grossing concert at University Park, PA’s Beaver Stadium with 73,339 total attendees.”

I mean, just insane numbers and it’s only just the beginning of his extensive Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old trek, which also features multiple stops at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium, Santa Clara’s Levi’s® Stadium and more.

The North Carolina native is also the most-nominated artist at this year’s ACM Awards, coming in with eight in total for the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Gettin’ Old, as artist and producer), Single of the Year (“Fast Car,” as artist and producer), Song of the Year (“Fast Car”) and Music Event of the Year (“Different Round Here” with Riley Green).

Mr. Combs is on an absolute tear right now, at the height of his career, and like I said, the tour is slated to run through August.

2024 supercross round 17, salt lake city by the numbers: three championships on the line.

  • Dan Beaver ,

Since 2020, when the Monster Energy Supercross series was forced to run out its season in a COVID-19 protected bubble with seven races at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, the city nestled at the foot of the Oquirrh Mountains has hosted the season finale. Riders have come into this stadium with massive points leads and minor ones, but the venue is always special.

On Saturday, Supercross will host one more race and crown three champions before turning the riders over to the Pro Motocross series. There are a wide range of scenarios that will be played out this week.

Jett Lawrence has a comfortable lead of 20 points over Cooper Webb, meaning he only needs to finish 17th or better to score his third 450 title in as many attempts. Lawrence’s worst race finish in 2023 was ninth in Round 2 in San Francisco.

The 250 riders will contest their second East / West Showdown and two champions will be crowned.

In the 250 East division. Tom Vialle has a 15-point advantage on Haiden Deegan, and like Lawrence, needs only a solid run to secure his first title. Complicating the matter this week is the fact that Saturday night’s feature will have twice as many top-level contenders as the boys from the East have to fend off the Western riders.

The East / West Showdown is going to make for a nail-biter in the West as Levi Kitchen and RJ Hampshire enter the weekend tied in points. It’s a winner-take-all affair.

SX Nashville 2023 Eli Tomac all smiles

It is almost inconceivable that Lawrence will fail to win the championship, but one need look back to only last year and Denver’s elimination of Eli Tomac to know this sport is filled with surprises.

A championship will cap Lawrence’s milestone-filled season.

Lawrence won Anaheim 1 in his first 450 Supercross start. He dethroned the King of Daytona to become only the third rider to beat Tomac in a decade of racing in World Center of Speed .

Lawrence’s eight hole shots and eight fastest times in qualification are the most for a rookie. His eight wins are the second-most behind Jeremy McGrath (10).

By any measure, it has been a remarkable season for Lawrence and while he cannot earn the most wins for a rookie, there are plenty of arguments for Lawrence being the greater of the two.

According to WeWentFast.com , McGrath raced against only one former champion, Jeff Stanton, in his rookie season. Lawrence had held off four former titlists in Tomac, Webb, Chase Sexton and Jason Anderson.

McGrath’s freshman competition included four riders who earned 37 previous Supercross wins; Lawrence faced down seven riders with 125 victories under their belts.

Salt Lake City will also host the retirement ride of Adam Cianciarulo, who is being forced off his Monster Energy Kawasaki because of a recurring nerve injury.

Another storyline to watch this week is Pro Circuit and whether they will finally get that elusive 300th win. Kitchen gave them their 299th five rounds ago in St. Louis, but since then accidents have taken a toll and denied the landmark. Seth Hammaker and Cameron McAdoo have both missed races to injury in that span of races, giving Kitchen a chance to clinch his 250 title with a ride that will go down in history.

Previous Salt Lake City Winners

450s 2023: Chase Sexton (followed by Aaron Plessinger, Justin Hill) 2022: Jason Anderson (Chase Sexton, Justin Barcia) 2021, Race 2: Cooper Webb (Marvin Musquin, Chase Sexton) 2021, Race 1: Marvin Musquin (Cooper Webb, Malcolm Stewart) 2020, Race 7: Zach Osborne (Jason Anderson, Dean Wilson)

250s 2023: Jett Lawrence (RJ Hampshire, Levi Kitchen) 2022: Nate Thrasher (Hunter Lawrence, Pierce Brown) 2021, Race 2: Jett Lawrence (Colt Nichols, Hunter Lawrence) 2021, Race 1: Jo Shimoda (Jett Lawrence, Colt Nichols) 2020, Race 7: Chase Sexton (Shane McElrath, Michael Mosiman)
