If you’re with just two people, the back seat is especially useful for photo bags, day packs and supplies. It has much space and comfort. This Toyota Hilux Double Cab 4×4 Safari 2.8 has a separate boot where you can safely store your travel bags, together with all the camping equipment for your self-drive journey in Southern Africa.

The sleeping places are in the roof tents on top of the car. Optionally you can use a (big) dome tent to be set up on the ground to create more privacy. With the complete kitchen set and camping stove you can prepare your own meals. The equipment also includes a table and chairs.

Toyota Safari Vehicles

The legendary and most reliable of them all, most game parks use Toyota Land Cruisers as their vehicle of choice. Having replaced the trusty Land Rover Defender and the African safari Jeep a few decades ago, Toyota changed the game forever.

There are both enclosed and open Toyota safari vehicles, depending on the location and guidelines of the park. Fully open vehicles provide unrestricted views of the world around you, perfect for the photographers who want to get that perfect shot. An open vehicle has no doors, windows, or frames to block your view. The mild-hybrid Toyota Hilux shows it can still kick up some dust

Toyota officially announced that the Hilux will be getting mild hybrid power by next year. It will be equipped with a 48V battery and a small electric motor-generator, and it’s also expected to be sold worldwide. Keen to prove it’s still the Hilux most folks know and love, Toyota Africa recently demonstrated its abilities during a special stage of the Safari Rally.

The demo car used during the exhibition was a bog standard Hilux MHEV, albeit with a more aggressive wheel and tire combination. It was driven by one of the World Rally Championship’s legends, Juha Kankkunen.

If you don’t know who Kankkunen is (and you really should), we’ll give you a quick history lesson. Kankkunen has four WRC titles with three different manufacturers. He was crowned the sport’s champion in 1986, 1987, 1991, and 1993 with Peugeot, Lancia, and of course, Toyota. Just the man for the job, then.

The veteran rally driver did several flying laps in the electrified Hilux, flinging mud and water along the way. The latter should quell any fears of hybrids getting damaged when passing through floods. Sure, it wasn’t as quick as the GR Yaris WRC, but it still looked like a blast to hurl around a rally stage.

As for the specs of the road-going Hilux MHEV, Toyota isn’t mentioning any official figures just yet. However, the company confirmed that it will pair its mild-hybrid system to the familiar 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine. Toyota claims the setup will reduce NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) levels inside the cabin, along with a fuel consumption improvement of about 10 percent.

The Toyota Hilux MHEV is expected to arrive in the first half of 2024 in Australia and the electrified powertrain will be available on the 4x4 SR5 and Rogue Double Cab. Those models are the equivalent of the G and the V Conquest variants in the Philippines. Worldwide sales are likely to follow, but confirmation for the Philippine market is yet to be determined.

These 4 New Jeep Safari 2024 Concepts Run From Retro To Outright Rude

I n Moab, Utah, from March 23 to 31, Jeep is once again holding its Easter Jeep Safari event. Easter has always been the time of year when Jeep shows off whatever wacky concepts it's working on, and the 58th annual event is no different. For this year, Jeep brought out four concepts: the Low Down, the Willys Dispatcher, the High Top, and the Vacationeer. 

Starting from the least crazy, the Willys Dispatcher has the bones of a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and is supposed to call to mind the first generation of Jeeps meant for regular people who weren't in service in the European of Pacific Theaters of World War II. The powertrain is the same: a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired with an electric motor that outputs a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. 

The body and aesthetics, however, are a different story. The paint is a color that Jeep is calling Element 115 Green, and the steelie-inspired wheels are 1950s cream-colored. The inside is saddle leather and cloth seats. To further give it a retro look, the headrests were removed because why not? It's a convertible with only the slightest impression of a conventional "roof." A huge embossed "Willys" logo on the hood completes the Jeep's classic vibe.

The Vacationeer And The High Top

Next is the Vacationeer. It's based on the Grand Wagoneer, only with a fairly substantial lift and the obligatory 35-inch tires. It sports a number of skid plates underneath for overlanding aptitude. But the centerpiece is the huge rooftop tent supplied by RedTail Overland, called the Skyloft. The interior temperature is adjustable (because, of course, it is), and can fit up to two people. It's powered by the twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six engine that makes 510 horsepower (the same engine that will feature in the upcoming new Dodge Charger), and it's finished in a color called "Spearminted." A rooftop tent on a luxury SUV isn't that unusual, but in this case, the factory roof of the Grand Wagoneer has been removed, making Vacationeer essentially a two-story camping spot.

The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top concept is fitted with 40-inch tires and an adjustable air suspension system. According to a Jeep press release, it was made to show the Gladiator's off-road credibility. It sports a "Ginger Snap" paint scheme and the tried and true Pentastar 3.6-liter V6.

The Jeep Low Down

Lastly, the Jeep Low Down Concept takes the cake for the most insane Jeep the automaker will show off. It's powered by the soon-to-be departed 392 V8 and is based on the Wrangler Rubicon 392. It has 42-inch tires on 20-inch wheels and is completely absurd, whatever angle you look at it. To make matters weirder, there's a clear cover on the hood so you can see the engine. Plus, there's no infotainment system to speak of. Jeep exterior designer Chris Piscitelli points out, there's a two-mode exhaust that can be set to "loud and entirely obnoxious: that's all the entertainment you need in this one." That's about as unambiguous of a reason you can have.

There's little chance the Jeep-buying public will see cars like the four Easter Safari concepts hit dealership lots anytime soon, and the event really acts as a testing ground for both Jeep engineers and the Jeep Performance Parts division. That said, it's hard not to get at least a little excited to see goofy factory Jeeps with wild (and in some cases impractical) modifications thrashing about the desert.

We provide three main safari options in Yala.

Half Day Tour 5.00 am to 10.00 am | 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm

The half day tour is dedicated towards exploring the most accessible areas of the Yala National Park. The morning and evening safaris both offer the opportunity to see a wide variety of species including leopards, elephants and birds. On both occasions you will be taken to either Patanagalla beach or Manik River for a short break. The morning safari would also give you time to enjoy breakfast during this break. Price 60 USD - Maximum 6 Passengers in the Jeep

Our rates include: Entrance tickets excluded. Free hotel pick up and drop (From hotel in Yala, Tissamaharama, Kirinda, Kataragama and Weerawila) Pick-up is available from any locations except above towns with additional charges. 4x4 Toyota Hilux Jeep.

Dining Picnic Breakfast – 8 USD | Picnic Lunch – 10 USD

7 Hours Tour 5.00 am to 12.00 pm

The focus of this tour is to witness leopards and sloth bears. In addition, we also hope to be able to see jackals, crocodiles, elephants and a variety of bird life during the tour. You will have two stops during the visit – one at Patangalla beach and the other at Manik River. In both instances you will be able to get off the vehicle and enjoy the view and the surrounding area. Price 80 USD - Maximum 6 Passengers in the Jeep

Full Day Tour 5.00 am to 6.00 pm

The full-day tour allows you to have a truly memorable experience amidst the beauty of Yala. You will get the opportunity to explore the lesser-travelled paths of the National Park and have a higher probability of seeing a wide variety of species. The safari would consist of a morning ride and an afternoon ride. Breakfast can be taken by the beach during the morning safari while lunch can be taken near the river or beach. You have the option of ordering your breakfast picnic and lunch packs from us or bringing it along with you. Regardless, we will provide you cool box with an ice pack as a part of our full-day package. The Full day safari, the jeeps venture far inside the Jungle to give the best opportunity to see the best of Sri Lankan wildlife. The Lunch break will be taken near the river or by the beach. Take a Tour of a Wildlife Safari Zoo in Central Pennsylvania

Guided safari tours in central pennsylvania.

The dry plains of Africa and the woodlands and forests of Australia have never felt closer thanks to the incredible safari tour at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. Like our other amazing attractions , the safari allows you and your family to see first-hand the various animals native to those lands and learn about their natural habitats. Self Drive-Thru Safari Available Only in April and November

Guests who wish to enjoy our safari tour from the comfort of their vehicles can do so with our self drive-thru option. VEHICLES WITH HARD DOORS AND HARD TOP ROOFS ONLY. Those interested in this experience should first read the Self Drive-Thru Rules to ensure their safety and the wellbeing of our animals. You will be required to sign a vehicle waiver prior to entering the safari fields.   

SELF DRIVE-THRU RULES AND INFORMATION PER USDA:

All vehicles MUST have hard tops and doors. Sunroofs and trunks must be closed-USDA requirement (Mesh doors on jeeps are not permitted).

Strict 5 mph speed limit (USDA requirement for animal safety).

You MUST remain in your vehicle during the entirety of the tour.

Pets are not permitted in vehicles.

No riding in the bed of pickup trucks.

No motorcycles, motor homes, buses, or trailers are permitted.

Touching animals is not encouraged.

Feeding animals is prohibited.

LOUD NOISES --honking horns, music and yelling--are not permitted.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The drive-thru trail is an unpaved dirt trail with loose stones, possible animal dung, and occasional mud puddles.

Some animals may not be visible on every drive-thru.

No refunds will be given for any reason after entering the safari fields.

ZOO EXHIBITS ARE NOT AVAILABLE  during the weekends of the self drive-thru.

Admission for the self drive-thru will be $9/person ages 3 through adult.

The Self Drive-Thru Safari pre-season/post-season option is available on select weekends only in April and November

from 10:00 a.m.  to 3:00 p.m.  

Please note: Only the Safari Tour Fields are open for the Self Drive-Thru option. Zoo exhibits are open during our regular season May 1st through October .

One of the best parts about our safari zoo in Pennsylvania is all the different animals you may see. More than 500 animals roam the safari fields freely at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. You may meet curious critters that are just as interested in you as you are in them — it is common for animals to approach the tour bus and get close enough for guests to reach out and touch them. Interacting with these animals is sure to be an unforgettable and highly beneficial experience for your party.

Our New Safari Station

Dedicated to providing our guests with the best possible experience, we are happy to introduce our safari station. Built and launched in 2015, the safari station includes the following:

• A comfortable holding area large enough to fit guests as they wait for their turn to hop aboard the cruiser
• A snack shop where you can grab a drink, some food for the ride, and even feed to give the animals while on the tour
• Well-maintained restrooms for your convenience

Things to Keep in Mind for Your Next Safari Tour

To help guests get the most out of their animal safari in Pennsylvania, we encourage all to be mindful of when the tours begin. Rides go out right when the park opens, and guests are welcome to come early to avoid crowds or waiting in long lines. Our tours last around 45 minutes, providing plenty of time to take in the entire tour without tiring out the youngest in your group. The last tour departs our Safari Station one hour before closing.

Please be advised that we do not accept reservations for our tours as they are offered on a first come, first serve basis. However, even if you miss your preferred time, another is coming up shortly!
