To get your weekend plans sorted, we here is a list of some of the best farmstays near Mumbai that offer natural beauty, tranquility and rural activities to indulge in.

The Royal Marwari Stud Farm

Located at Nandgaon (Karjat), at the foothills of the Bhimashankar hills, the Royal Marwari Stud Farm is just 80 kilometres from Mumbai and 110 kilometres from Pune.

If you want to spend some time away from the city life amid the lush green and rustic charm of farms then this is the ideal place for you. The farm stay is good to go for family holidays. The tranquil surroundings offer relaxing activities to indulge in including horse riding, trekking, camping out by a lake and indulging in local meals.

Where: Royal Marwari Stud Farm, Nandgoan Village, Off Kasheli-Khandas Road, Karjat

Madhuban Agritainment Farm

Sprawling across 50 acres of land, Madhuban Agritainment farm is located 125 km away from Mumbai and 150 km from Pune. The place offer perfect atmosphere for a digital detox in Roha. The self-sustained, completely organic farm offers all basic amenities and has two rooms.

The access to internet connection is negligible so you can get in touch with nature around the accommodation. This is an ideal place for travellers on a budget. Guests can get all meals including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner at at an additional cost of Rs 500 per person.

Tooth Mountain Farms

Tooth Mountain Farms is a boutique farm stay on Karjat road with five themed suites named after the trees native to their farm. The main villa houses Rooms Parijat (White) and Palash (Orange) as well as kitchen and other common areas.

The outhouse which overlooks a lap pool houses Amalatas (Yellow), Ashmantak (Purple), and Basant Rani (Pink).

For outdoor activities there is a cycling track and you can also go kayaking in the private lake. The pool is artfully decorated seating area to provide best place for relaxation.

Palmnest Farms

Surrounded by sugarcane fields and rice paddies, Palmnest Farms is bordered by the serene Kumbhi River.

When it comes to activities, the place offers activities like trekking, bonfire, cycling and bullock cart ride to give you total rural experience.

Where: Palmnest Farmstay, Khokurle, Gaganbawda, Kolhapur (8 hour drive from Mumbai and 6 hours from Pune.)

The farmhouse has three master bedrooms that can comfortably accommodate six guests. You can also take a tour of the farm and learn about different plantations and vegetables growing there at an additional cost of Rs 800.

The Rural Door

Kisan Eco Farm and Farm Stay is located just 45 kms from Mumbai on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway at Vasind. The farm is well connected by suburb railway stations and the highway. Thereafter we were treated like their own family guest pampering every need and ask by us. Two twin cottages were given to us and appeared to have made it with lots of care and personal touch. It is right in the middle of serene Mother Nature yet so close to city (an hour and half). Delicious Barbeque starters, unwinding around Bonfire 🔥 and finally a walk down to hill and riverside in evenings and morning make your outing perfect. I Truly loved the typical village setup with resort facilities at this place called Shahapur. This place is directly drivable from Mumbai - Thane on the Mumbai - Nashik Highway ahead to Titwala, then Khadavli and few km ahead of Vasind. This Titwala farmhouse with swimming pool is worth a visit. Oh Ya - Don't expect a 5 star facility there, but its a clean neat well maintained property. Modern day kids should see the village life. Appreciable work force is their forte.

We happened to visit this farm stay resort by chance. A resort in Karjat canceled our booking and Mars Farmhouse and Nature Resort happily accommodated us. Its a huge farm stay resort which can be truly called a nature resort. Like resorts in karjat and badlapur, shahapur is also an upcoming tourist destination. The farm is perfect for one day picnikers around thane too. Lovely food. Great hospitality. They are still developing this huge property though. I liked this place.

I have only appreciation for this resort near Titwala and kalyan. The website shows resort near thane, but this resort is ahead of titwala at Shahapur. If you plan to spend a peaceful laid back time for yourself and your family then this is a nice resort. The Nashik Expressway drive was superb and non tiring. I stayed here on 9th Jan 2017 with my wife. Both 63 yrs. Nice place to stay for a couple of days. Manoj and his team are striving to make your stay comfortable. The place is a little small for agritourism. The library that they have maintained is very good. It is a treat for those who love books. It is a little pricy when compared with others in the class. I wish them well. I will visit again.
