The island is mostly covered in dense jungle and has a rugged coastline, with a few small beaches that are only accessible by boat. Quiet and beautiful Camotes islands are made of three main islands: Pacijan, Poro, and Ponson. They are named after the camotes or sweet potatoes, which thrive abundantly on the islands there. Ponson is pretty remote with its inhabitants living a really basic life, it’s also hard to get there as there is no regular boat going there. The majority of the Camote Islands tourist spots are on Poro and Pacijan. Both islands are more developed but it’s still mostly villages, there’s no ATM there and frequent power outages. These two islands are rich in springs, waterfalls, and caves, Pacijan also offers some nice beaches. The islands are still really far from being a big tourist destination. Poro island tourist spots, bukilat cave.

Bukilat is a really nice cave, not really deep underground but really large, and with a big lake you can swim in and openings to the sky, creating a mystical atmosphere. In the 70s mass used to be held there. The water is coming from the sea, so if you go during low tide (in the morning) who won’t see much water, it’s better to go in the afternoon.

The water of the cave is believed by locals to have healing effects.

Busay falls in Tudela

These falls are amazing, the color of the water is just beautiful, you must add it to your Camotes Island itinerary. Try to go in the morning during the week so you’ll have more chances to be alone. It’s really refreshing, pools had been carved out of the rocks, but it still has a ”wild” touch. You can also jump off the cliff, but be careful it’s not really deep. It’s an easy trek, about 10 minutes through banana plantations from the parking lot.

Mactan beach

The beach here is far from being amazing but its historical importance makes it worth a visit…

In Filipino colonization History, Mactan recalls an important battle that took place on April 27th, 1521, so prior to colonization. It marks the first victory of Filipino people over the Spaniards.

In March 1521, Magellan landed in Cebu, looking for a new way to get to Moluccas Islands. He “discovered” the Philippines. He befriended Cebu’s king who converted to Christianity and ordered the other chiefs to convert and help Magellan. One of the chiefs of Mactan island , close to Cebu, refused, so Magellan set toward the island with a troop of Spaniards to fight them. They were outnumbered and lost, Magellan was killed during this battle.

This is the official version but recent findings point to another site for the battle: Poro Island in Camotes, and most precisely in Mactan Beach. History students found documents stating that it took 2 hours for Magellan to get to Mactan Island, where it should have taken him only 30 minutes. Moreover a lot of Spanish artifacts have been found on Mactan Beach in Poro, unfortunately, they are now privately owned and you can only see them during special celebrations on Camotes.

Your Camotes Island itinerary wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Mactan Beach.

Poro church

Poro church is about 150 years old, the facade is made of stones but the rest is made of wood. Worth a stop if you’re passing by.

Pacijan Island tourist spots:

Santiago bay.

Santiago is a nice and quiet beach, good for swimming, you’ll just have to walk a while to get deep into the water. There are two resorts bordering it and a couple of beach restaurants with affordable prices.

Lake Danao is a really nice place to relax, you can rent for 50 pesos per head a kayak or a paddle boat or take a boat ride for 700 pesos (good for 10 people). There’s not a lot of ways to access the lake, the easiest is to go to Green Lake park activity center. From there you can walk for some time along the lake. There’s also a nice tower deck where you can get a nice view of the lake.

Timubo Cave

Timubo cave was a really nice surprise for me, I wasn’t planning on visiting it, but passing by, I thought, why not? I’m so happy I stopped, this cave definitively has a magical touch. You have to go down for about 75 meters deep underground, there are steps all the way so it’s easy. Brass yourself because, as you go down, it gets more and more humid and hot. You’ll have to go through two small pools of water, and then you get to the bigger pool. It’s super nice, you can swim there and go farther into the cave, try to bring a headlamp because the light doesn’t go all the way to the end of the cave. It’s a bit deep in some parts but you can mostly walk everywhere.

Tulang Island

Tulang Island is super nice, it’s a really small island with only a couple of people living on it, it’s mostly jungle and at the tip some white sand beaches. It is also a good spot for snorkeling. You can take a bangka for 20 pesos. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go there because a typhoon was coming but you can easily see it from Pacijan, it’s really close.

Borromeo or Bakhaw Beach

This beach is one of my favorite Camotes Island tourist spots, it’s secluded and coming as close as it gets to a picture-perfect beach. The sand is white and thin and the water is crystal clear. Only down point is that it would need some cleaning, but it’s mostly seaweed and not trash, so it makes it ok.

The holy crystal cave is no longer operating, it’s under “new management” and was closed at the time of writing.

Camotes Islands Itinerary

Two full days are sufficient to explore both Poro and Pacijan and all the Camotes Island tourist spots, you can add a day if you want to relax at the beach. On the first day, you can explore Poro Island. In the morning visit the church then head to Mactan Beach. After lunch, go to Busay Fall and finish your day visiting Bukilat cave. The next day, explore Pacijan. Start at Santiago Bay, then head for Danao Lake, you can have lunch there. In the afternoon, visit Timubo Cave, next go to Tulang Island if the weather allows it, and finish the day watching the sunset at Bakkaw Beach.   

Camotes Islands Itinerary: How to get around

The best way to explore the island is by motorbike, there’s almost no public transportation and it’s really hard to get information about it. When you get off the boat there are sometimes buses that are on it and that cross the island to drop passengers off. You can hitch a ride with them. Otherwise, you should be able to hire a motorbike, you should pay 100 pesos maximum to San Francisco. Bargain hard because they’ll charge more for tourists.

To rent a motorbike you can call Jims (09265015537) he’s a really nice and honest guy, or go in front of Isobella’s Inn in San Francisco. The price is 500 pesos for 24hours, they also usually can do half days. You’ll only find semi-automatic bikes for rent and helmets are hard to find. The roads are really good, some part may get muddy if it has been raining for a while though.

Camotes Islands Itinerary: Where to stay

There’s plenty of resorts there for about 1000 pesos, most of them are on Agoda, be careful with the “beachfront” especially on Poro Island, where it’s mostly cliffs and rocky beaches.

If you are on a budget you can stay in Alyanarah (300 pesos a night), in San Francisco, the main town. It’s a central location and from there it’s easy to rent a bike and explore the islands. The hotel is really basic and a bit noisy but the WiFi is super good.

How to get to Camotes Islands

From Cebu, you can take an express boat from the port for about 600 pesos or you can take a ferry in Danao for 200 pesos. To get to Danao from Cebu, take a jeepney (30 pesos) or an air-con van in front of SM mall.

There are also boats coming from Ormoc in Leyte .

From Mactan Airport, the most convenient way to get to Camotes Island is by taking the Jomalia fast craft from Mactan Wharf. The trip only takes about 1 hour and arrives in Consuelo Port in Camotes Island. This trip leaves at 8:00 AM and 12 NN, daily. On the other hand, Consuelo to Mactan trips leaves at 10 AM and 4 PM, daily.

When thinking about Camotes, the first thing that we can think of is the white sand in Santiago Bay. However, not known to many, there are a lot more beaches on Camotes Island.

Santiago Bay Beach

Santiago Bay Beach is the most popular beach on Camotes Island. You can find a lot of resorts which have a good view of this white sand beach. If you want to spend the day here, you can also rent cottages and tables by the beach. Moreover, there are also restaurants nearby. The beach is perfect for families and kids because of its shallow water.

Mangodlong Beach

Mangodlong Beach consists of a white sand beach and turquoise water. It can be accessed through Mangodlong Paradise Beach Resort, a private resort located in Heminsula, San Francisco, Camotes Island. The beachfront in Mangodlong Rock Resort also shares the same beauty with the beach found in Paradise Beach Resort as it is located just a stone’s throw away from each other.

Bakhaw Beach

Bakhaw Beach is a secluded beach located in Esperanza, San Francisco. Just like the rest of the beaches on the island, Bakhaw Beach also has a white sand beach but aside from that, it has a very natural and raw charm. Tourists who visit here enjoy the serenity of the place and the little to no entrance fee.

Esperanza Beach

Esperanze Beach shares the same shoreline with Bakhaw Beach so automatically, this beach is as beautiful as the other. This beach, unfortunately, is not intended for relaxation since it is mainly a docking port for fishing boats.

Tulang Diot Beach

Tulang Diot is an islet located across Tulang Dako. While Tulang Dako serves as a docking port for the fishing community, Tulang Diot serves as a tourist location where anyone can relax and swim in the clear seawater. Both have beautiful white sand beaches though. To get to Tulang Diot, you need to take a boat from Tulang Dako.

What makes Tulang Diot special is the sandbar that appears during low tide and disappears during high tide. Guests can enjoy limited access to cottages in the area.

Mactang Beach

What makes Mactang Beach one of the best beaches to visit in Camotes is the controversy that surrounds it. It is said that the historical Battle of Mactan actually took place in Mactang in Poro, Camotes Island, and not in Opon (now known as Mactan, Cebu). Mactang, Camotes even has artifacts in their municipal museum which are said to have existed during the time of Lapulapu. The most popular resort you can find in Buho Beach is Buho Rock Resort. It is very famous for its cliff diving spot. This is why it is one of the best beaches on Camotes Island.

Villa Marquez is located in Tulang Dako, Esperanza. The closest beach from this hostel is Tulang Diot which is just one short boat ride across Tulang Dako. Timubo Cave is also 1.2 kilometers away from the hostel. What guests love the most in Villa Marquez is the serenity of the place since it is located far from the urbanized areas in Camotes. Swimming/ Beaching

Camotes has beautiful white sand beaches like Santiago White Beach and Tulang Diot. A lot of resorts also have their own private beaches where you can lounge the entire afternoon. Watersports in Lake Danao

Lake Danao is said to be the biggest natural lake in Cebu. And because of its very romantic ambiance, Lake Danao is also hailed as the Lover’s Lake. You can do all sorts of activities in Lake Danao like kayaking, boating, and even horseback riding. Lake Danao opens from 6 AM to 6 PM, daily. Cliff diving in Buho Rock

The rock formation in Buho Rock is the most popular cliff-diving site in Camotes. In fact, there are two diving boards in Buho Rock where one is higher than the other. To enter the site, you must pay the entrance fee of PHP 20 (adults ) and PHP 10 (kids). You can also have a little picnic in the area since they allow outside foods and drinks.

Aside from the water activities, you can also explore caves in Camotes. Don’t worry though because these caves are easily accessible– usually with concrete stairs. There are 4 popular caves in Camotes but as I was told, locals keep discovering new cave entrances on the island. Here are the caves you can explore in Camotes:

• Paraiso Cave – PHP 50 per head
• Holy Crystal Cave – free entrance
• Bukilat Cave – PHP 20 per head

Sample Travel Itinerary in Camotes Island

3D2N Camotes Island Itinerary

Day 1 – arrive in Camotes early. On your first day, you can go caving. Based on Camotes Island Map, Paraiso Cave, Heaven Cave, and Timubo Cave are located on the same island while for Bukilat Cave, you still have to cross to the other island to get there. On your way to Bukilat Cave, you can take your lunch in San Francisco Baywalk or any restaurant of your choice. If time permits, you can also go to Buho Rock for cliff diving. If not, you can watch the sunset instead of in Santiago Bay and have your dinner along the beach before going back to your hotel.

**For easily travel around Camotes, you can rent a motorbike which usually costs around PHP 300 per day. If traveling in a group, you can rent a jeepney or a van.

Day 2 – Wake up early for Tulang Diot and have your lunch there. After you can also visit nearby beaches like Esperanza Beach and Bakhaw Beach or you can go straight to Mangodlong Rock.

Day 3 – On your last day, visit Lake Danao before going to the port.

• Backpacker budget – More or less PHP 4000 (1 pax)
• Midrange budget – More or less PHP 6000 (1 pax)
• Luxury budget – Sky is the limit. Spend as much as you want.

Travel tips

Travel guide in Camotes Island

• I would highly suggest to rent a motorbike or your own ride during your stay in Camotes since tourist attractions in Camotes are located everywhere in the island. Renting your own means of transportation will help you save time and money.
• Bring enough cash. ATMs (most especially international ATMs ) are rare in the island. And even if you can find one, it usually runs out of cash or undergoing a maintenance. Majority of the establishments in Camotes are operating in a cash only basis so you can’t really rely on your credit/debit cards for paying your bills.
• Bring a dry bag most especially when going caving. You can also wear an aqua shoes instead of slippers.
• Travel responsibly. Make sure to follow minimum health protocols and sanitize all the time. Be mindful of your trashes and do not leave anything behind.

Camotes Island is located on the Southernmost tip of Cebu, Philippines. It is easily accessible by ferry service from the mainland. Camotes Islands is a popular weekend getaway for people on the main island of Cebu . If you want a much quieter island, you should avoid weekends and public holidays. You should also go between November and April, which is the dry season.

HOW TO GET FROM CEBU TO CAMOTES ISLAND

The fastest way to get to Camotes island from Mactan, Cebu, is on a Jomalia fast craft, which takes an hour and ten minutes. The next fastest way is on an Oceanjet fast craft, which takes an hour and thirty minutes.

From Mactan to Camotes, the Jomalia fast craft docks at Consuelo Port, where the popular beach resorts are. The Oceanjet docks at Poro Port, about 30-45 minutes away.

You can also drive or take a bus north to Danao Port, which is 1.5–2 hours north of Cebu City. You can take the Jomalia ferry boat to the island, which takes another 2 hours.

At the Danao pier, you can park your own car overnight for a fee of about PhP 300 per night. If you want to take your car to Camotes Island, you can make plans with the ticket booth at the port. It costs about PhP 1,200 per way.

1. Santiago Bay

Santiago Bay is one of the top tourist attractions in Camotes Island . With its unique blue waters, white sand, and crystal clear water, it will certainly be an unforgettable experience you will never forget. The coast of Camotes Island is lined with beautiful beaches, with Santiago White Beach, also called Santiago Bay. This beautiful cove is hundreds of meters long, and when the tide is high, it is the perfect place to walk in shallow, clear water.

If you like to stay active at the beach, you can rent a kayak or join a game of beach volleyball. And if you stay until sunset, you can watch the sky turn golden while you eat fresh seafood on the grill and, if you want, sing karaoke.

2. Bukilat Cave

Bukilat Cave is one the most popular Camotes Island tourist spot. Tourists can find a variety of sinkholes, pools and limestone formations inside this cave. The Belfry pool is the most popular feature inside Bukilat Cave because of its phenomenal formation.

Bukilat is by far the biggest of all the caves in Camotes, and it’s the one you should take advantage of. It’s one of the most popular places in Camotes Island, and people come from all over to see this underground site. Going down a short set of rocky steps, you can get to Bukilat Cave, full of stalagmites, stalactites, and rock formations.

A shallow tidal pool is at the center of Bukilat Cave, so the best time to visit is when the tide is high enough to walk in. At the back of the cave, there is an open skylight where you can see trees and low-hanging vines. 

3. Lake Danao

Lake Danao is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Philippines and one of the most attractive tourist attractions in Camotes Island. 

Lake Danao is north of Pacijan Island, one of the smaller islands in the Camotes Islands in the province of Cebu.

By boat, ferry, or other watercraft, it takes about two hours to get to Camotes. If you are coming from Cebu City, you should take a ferry from the port of Danao on the mainland of Cebu.

The lake looks like a guitar, and it’s a park where you can get to the lake. It is a popular in Camotes Island tourist spot.

4. Paraiso Cave

Located in the northern tip of Camotes Island, Paraiso Cave is a massive ocean cave that flows from one end to the other. It is a relatively easy hike down to the cave, but it’s fairly strenuous. It is one of the top tourist attractions in Camotes Island. 

Paraiso Cave, which has a turquoise swimming hole deep underground, is another amazing cave in Camotes. The most developed cave on Camotes Island tourist spot is Paraiso Cave, a restaurant and resort built around it. There are places to sit carved into the rocks underground, so if you don’t mind being squished, you can spend time in the cave.

The water in Paraiso Cave is so clear that if you didn’t know better, you might think it’s only a foot deep. If you go when the tide is high, you’ll be up to your chest in some of the clearest water you’ve probably ever seen.

5. Amazing Island Cave

The Amazing Island Cave of Camotes is one of the top tourist attraction in Camotes Island. It’s a cave with a large opening that welcomes hundreds of tourists every year. Amazing Island Cave is by far our favorite cave on Camotes Island tourist spot. The name says it all, and it lives up to its promise. Unlike the others, there is much space to swim, and it’s deep enough that we recommend you bring a mask and snorkel.

At the entrance of Amazing Island Cave, a narrow channel is already deep enough for a good swim. Just watch your head because it’s a tight space, and we bumped ours a few times on the rocks. If you swim through the channel, it opens up into a large, deep pool. Here is where you’ll want to have your mask and snorkel! And don’t worry if you’re not the best swimmer; you can use the life jackets there.

6. Timubo Cave

Timubo Cave is by far the least developed cave on Camotes Island. It’s just a hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere, but that makes us love it even more. A Catholic grotto was the only other thing made by people besides the cement steps and lights, but there was nothing to explain what it was for. 

Underground, a dark and sometimes dangerous path leads to an opening with clear water. We needed a mask and snorkel to see the cave floor as we swam through the water.

7. Tulang Diot Island

Tulang Diot Island is one of the top tourist attractions in Camotes Island. It features a pristine white sand beach and a clean and secure resort. Its natural wonders have become a popular destination among locals and foreign tourists.

The white sand beach and clear blue water of Tulang Diot Island make it one of the best places to visit on Camotes Island tourist spot. Tulang Diot Island is across a narrow channel of water from Pacijan Island. There aren’t many things to do on the island, but that’s part of its charm. A small group of people lives on Tulang Diot Island, but other than that, there isn’t much else there. Once you get there, you can find a spot on the beach, enjoy snorkeling, and just hang out. There isn’t much food on the island, so if you plan to spend the day there, bring your lunch or buy snacks at a sari-sari store.

8. Buho Rock Resort

The Buho Rock Resort is more than just a place to stay it is also considered one of the most tourist attractions in Camotes Island. It is also one of the most popular places for thrill-seekers on Camotes Island. The nearby rock connected by a bridge brings people to the resort, not the resort itself.

The Buho Rock Resort has been made into a place to go cliff diving, with multiple platforms of different heights for thrill-seekers. You can dive into the bright blue water or sit at a picnic table and watch what’s happening. If you want to jump, the best time to go to Buho Rock Resort is when the tide is high.

If you want to check out the rock pools below but don’t want to throw your boat off a cliff, you can take a staircase down to the bottom and look at the rock pools there.

9. Busay Falls

Poro Island in Camotes is home to Busay Falls, a small but beautiful waterfall. Busay Falls is one of only two waterfalls in Camotes Island tourist spot. The other is Panganuron Falls. 

Even though Busay Falls isn’t very big, the water is a beautiful Gatorade blue, like many other waterfalls in Cebu. This makes it a great place to take a refreshing swim and is considered one of the top tourist attractions in Camotes Island. 

10. San Francisco Bay Walk

The San Francisco Bay Walk is the best walkway in the Philippines. It is one of the top tourist attraction in Camotes Island. San Francisco Baywalk, which recently changed its name to “Baywalk,” is just a few meters from the Port of San Francisco, the main town of Camotes island tourist spot. From the main road near the Causeway, it goes for about 300 yards until it ends at the foot of a mountain. The Baywalk is a great place for families and friends to hang out in the afternoon and evening because it has a beautiful design made of bermuda grass and a snake-like path.

On the Baywalk trail, some round metal bars can be used to work out, such as the Parallel Bars, Monkey Bars, etc. People are more likely to enjoy the cool breeze of fresh air and the great atmosphere at night because there are a dozen benches and light posts.

11. Mangodlong Rock

A blend of personal and relaxed moments. This rock is located inside the Mangodlong Beach Resort. It is relatively little, yet stunning nevertheless and one of the top Camotes Island tourist spot.

With a sandbar connecting it to the beach, the rock formations that seem to float on the pure green water are a sight to behold along the beach. The surface of these rocks, where the sea wind is at its strongest, is adorned with open-air houses of tropical design.

Camotes Islands is one of the best places to escape the city life in Cebu.

I’ve been to the island a couple of times and I have to say, I always enjoy my visit to Camotes Islands.

So here is an updated travel guide to the Camotes Islands in Cebu.

The name itself is intriguing. It sounds like Kamote , which means sweet potato. Does this island have many sweet potatoes? I’m not sure. But this island has much to offer than a root vegetable. I will share those with you.

But before that, I would like to show you that this is not just an Island, but a group of islands . Camotes is composed of four islands: Pacijan , Poro , Ponson, and Tulang. The first two are connected by a bridge. That being said, you can explore the two main islands easily.

How to get to Camotes Islands:

Option 1: OceanJet Fast Craft

This is the fastest option.

• Go to Cebu Port, Pier 1
• Open-air. -Php500
• Tourist Class – Php500
• Business Class Php800
• Travel Time: 1-2 hours

• CEBU- CAMOTES: 6:00 AM, 3:00 PM
• CAMOTES- CEBU: 8:00 AM, 5:00 PM

Option 2: Jomalia Shipping

• From Cebu City – Go to the north bus terminal and take a van/bus going to Danao Port, Danao City. The fair will range to Php70.00 . It will take 1.5 hours to get there.
• From Danao Port – Take Jomalia Shipping for Php250.00 . It takes 2 hours to get to Consuelo Port in Camotes.

*Terminal Fee- Php5.00

Upon arriving on the island there are many tricycles and multicabs around. You can ask them to rent for the whole day. It will cost Php1500-2500.00 depending on the size. Remember, always haggle. Also, I’ve been to the island 2 times and I can recommend that it is better to tour the island with a group. Less expense, more fun!

Where to Stay in Camotes

Mangodlong Paradise Resort :

Last April 2021, we stayed at Mangodlong Paradise Resort .

We only stayed in the resort for our whole stay. We didn’t go out and explore the island since it was not our first time visiting. And also because we want to have less contact with people just to be safe since it is still pandemic.

I enjoyed the resort a lot and here are the things I like in the resort aside from its wonderful accommodation:

• They have a restaurant inside and the food is delicious. No need to go outside.
• The pool is massive.
• The beach is beautiful and exclusive.
• You can use their kayak for free.
• You can book a ticket for Jomalia Shipping at their reception.
• They accept Credit Card! I prefer using my card so this is a big plus for me.

Please note that the internet connection in this area is not great so if you want to work, that might be a problem. But if you want to disconnect and enjoy this paradise, then it will be perfect!

Places to visit in Camotes Islands

1. santiago bay beach.

Santiago Beach offers a vast shoreline. Not to mention the fine sand! You can walk the beach strip from end to end.

On the right side, facing the ocean, there’s a beautiful rock formation where you can swim. Most of the time it is low tide, but there’s a right time to swim; around 10 AM. I must warn you that, it will be scorching hot.

On the other side, you can get a delicious meal in Pito’s Sotokil at a reasonable price. During my first visit (a few years ago), there were a lot of people, but believe me, the long wait will be worth it once the food is served. Also, this side of the island offers a beautiful sunset.

At night, it is good to stay outside and watch the stars. Sounds cheesy and romantic. Haha. But I would like to share with you that I am very happy I did that. I had. change to see Shooting Star during one of my first visits here.

2. Buho Rock

For an entrance of Php20.00 . You can see a beautiful view from the top. Going down, you can experience cliff jumping up to 50 feet. I even saw Korean kids jumping from 15 feet jump. That was awesome. If you don’t want to try the cliff jump, you can swim to the other side where there are amazing rock formations.

3. Lake Danao

Aside from the beach, this is my favorite part of the island.

Lake Danao offers such beautiful scenery. The best part is you can explore it more with paddling rides, you should take the kayak. It will cost Php50.00 for each person. It is one of the best things to do here.

During my first visit, my friends and I had a little competition about who would get first to the islet. It was exhausting!

Also, there are food stalls at the Lake. Take some food and refreshments to bring back those energies you exerted from kayaking.

4. Timubo Cave

One of the caves in Camotes. You have to walk a little bit to reach the water. Inside, you can see a Grotto. The water is cold. Also, it is better to be here without too many people.

The entrance fee is Php20.00.

5. Paraiso Cave

This cave is already developed. Quite smaller than Timubo Cave, but if you like caves that much you can’t also miss this.

The entrance fee is Php50.00.

6. Bukilat Cave

Bukilat Cave is very secluded but I guess it is worth it to visit. The sunlight from the roof opening makes the whole cave look amazing inside.

The cave is in the municipality of Tudela.

The Entrance fee is Php20.00

7. Holy Crystal Cave

Another cave on the island. It is located in Brgy. Union, San Francisco, Camotes.

No entrance fee, just donations. So please give a reasonable amount for the guide since it will take 1.5 hours to tour the 8 levels of the cave.

It is better to tour the place with not more than 5 people. The cave offers great formations of stalagmites, may be the reason it is named Holy Crystal Cave.

8. Busay Falls

This three-level falls with a little pool has natural clear water. It will take a 10-minute hike to get there.

The entrance fee is Php10.00.

9. Panganuron Falls

Panganuron Falls is located on Poro Island. You will have a 45-minute walk to get there. Do not forget to wear proper hiking shoes. It will help you be more comfortable on your way to the falls.

Just ask the locals to guide you on your way in order for you not to get lost.

10. Tulang Diot Island

Remember the 4 islands? Well, this is the smallest island in Camotes. It will only take 10-15 minutes to get here for a fair of Php20.00 back and forth.

Tulang Diot Island offers fine white sand and crystal water.  Also, you can spend the night and camp here.

Tip: Do not rent the boat, it will cost you much.

is there an Airport in Camotes Island?

There is no airport on Camotes island. The nearest airport to Camotes Islands is Mactan–Cebu (CEB) Airport which is 57.6 km away. 

HOW TO GET TO CAMOTES ISLAND

Camotes Island has three major ports where tourists from all over the Visayas can enter. Cebu is the starting point for the most popular route. You have the option of going to Danao City or taking the ferry from Cebu to Camotes Island.

• FROM CEBU PORT PIER 1 This ferry station offers two daily trips to this island. The first is at 6 AM, and the second is at 3 PM. The return trips leave at 8 AM and 5 PM.
• FROM CEBU PORT PIER 2 Board an Aznar ferry for Poro Island. There is just one scheduled trip for this service, which is the only one on the island that provides transportation. You can choose to travel to Poro on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9 PM. Your entire journey will take four hours to reach your destination. The return trip leaves at 1 AM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. 
• FROM DANAO PORT Get on a boat and head for the Camotes Islands. The fact that there are many scheduled trips available makes this the most popular way to travel the islands. It takes about three hours to travel by ferry. Danao Port is about a two-hour bus ride from Cebu City. Either bring your own car and park it there for 300 pesos per day, or take it on the boat for 1,200 pesos one way to go to the harbor.

Can I bring my car to Camotes Island?

If you intend to drive to Camotes Island, head to Danao City Port. File the paperwork for your automobile or motorcycle so you can load it onto a Jomalia Shipping Line RORO vessel. Rolling cargo must be at the port at least one hour before the scheduled departure.

How to Get to Camotes Island

✓ option 1 (by van/bus).

Entry Point is in ORMOC PORT .

CHECK FAST CRAFT SCHEDULE & FARE HERE

• From the port, walk to Ormoc City Terminal near the Ormoc Public Market/2go Express ticketing.
• Then, ride a tricycle going to PUNTA PORT. Be sure to inform the driver that you will hop off at PUNTA PORT for Camotes. Fare is PHP 1 0.00 – PHP 20.00 . Travel time is about 8 minutes .
• At Punta Port, ride the KGC Ferry bound to Poro, Camotes. The fare is about PHP 300.00 . Travel Time is about 1hr 50mins .
• At Camotes, hail a motorcycle, tricycle, or just rent a ride for transportation to your destination.

✓ OPTION 2 (BY BOAT W/ BUS/VAN)

Entry Point is in CEBU PIER 4 via HILONGOS .

• From Pier 4, ride the Slow Boats (Roble Shipping Lines or Gabisan Lines) & Fast Boat (MV Superjoy) bound for Hilongos. Fare is about PHP 310.00 ( SGD$ 6.89, US$ 6.2, € 5. 17) – PHP 2,000.00 ( SGD$ 44.45, US$ 40, € 33.33 ) for Slow Boats and PHP 550.00 ( SGD$ 12.23, US$ 11, € 9.17 ) for Fast Boats/Crafts. • At Ormoc City Terminal, walk towards Ormoc Public Market/2go Express ticketing.

Entry Point is in CEBU PIER 4 via BAYBAY .

• From Pier 4, ride the Slow Boats (RORO Ferries) & Fast Boat (MV Superjoy) bound for Hilongos. How to get around C amotes

1.By Habal-Habal or known as Motorcycle

Good for couples. It is much better if you can drive it yourself.

It can accommodate up to 10-13 passengers . If you want to rent tour the island using the van, it will costs you around Php 2000-2500 or $40-50 per day .

3. By Multi-Cab

It can accommodate up to 8-10 passengers . If you want to rent tour the island using the multi-cab, it will costs you around Php 1500-1700 or $30-34 per day .

Should I book my Camotes Island Hotel Online?

My answer will always be YES . You can save money by checking discounts online. Booking before you leave also saves you time & avoids the hassles of bringing large amounts of cash during your actual trip.

What to prepare for a trip to Camotes Island?

Sunblock — If you don’t have a plan in getting yourself tan, then bring some sunblock to protect your skin from the suns UV rays.

Hats and Eye wear  — Protect your eyes from the heat of the sun.

Cellphone Waterproof Case  — You don’t want to drench your phone w/ saltwater.

Rent a GoPro – If you are in Cebu, my friend can rent you one here .

Food – Although there is a convenience store in the island, it is much better to bring your own foods and drinks.

Powerbank & Batteries – Electricity on the island only runs from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Tent – Even if you are not staying overnight, just bring. It can lessen your expenses.

Snorkel and Scuba diving gears – Bring your own.

Also, check Tacloban promo alerts several weeks or months ahead of your trip if you are planning your trip early. The cheapest promos are sold up to a year in advance of the travel/flight departure date & are often only available if you book directly with the airline.

When is the Best Time to Visit?

In my experience, March – June are the best months to visit Camotes Island since rainfall is less in those months.

✓ Sunscreen – Protect yourself from sunburn or much worse – Cancer.

Money Saving Tips

Get a good map and explore the city on your own tour  — You can tour the city at your own pace plus you can choose from a variety of options. There are a lot of awesome things to do in Camotes Island that don’t cost a dime.

Drive a motorcycle  — This is the cheapest way to get around.

Stay at hostels   or airbnb — If you are travelling alone or by group of 3, hostels are best for you. But, if you are travelling in group of 4 or more, then airbnb is best for you. I have calculated the difference and airbnb ones are best for group of travellers.

Guess what? I am such a joiner for this trip. Did not look it up online again.

We came from Ormoc so our route will be – Ormoc to Camotes (obviously). Our Itinerary looks a bit messy because there is only 1 available trip in going to Camotes via Ormoc.

The Camotes Island group actually has eight natural caves. But, Bukilat Cave is the most prominent among these caves as it is the largest cave to ever exist on the island.

2. Instagrammable rock formation at Buho Rock Resort

If you are into cliff diving, this is the perfect place for you. You can have your unlimited cliff diving or simply go on swimming under the beautiful rock formation at Buho Rock Garden and Resort, Poro, Camotes Island.

3. Swim Underground at Heaven Cave

A sign will greet you at the entrance saying “Heaven Cave”. You won’t easily spot it based on my experience because there is another entrance in the place. Just like the other cave, you will descend a couple of stairs to actually swim in the cave.

4. Swim and be amazed at Mangodlong Rock Resort

At Mangodlong, one can experience the wonderful sunset of Camotes. The warm color of the sun and the reflection of the beach make it very spectacular during the afternoon at this resort.

They say that there is an image of Mama Mary inside the cave so I went inside and see if it was true. Indeed, it is.

6. See the Wonders of Lake Danao Camotes Island

LAKE DANAO CAMOTES or the LOVERS LAKE is said to be the largest lake in Cebu province. It has deep blue waters and a serene aura with its singing birds and the breeze. Several activities can be enjoyed when visiting this place such as kayaking, boating, horseback riding, among others.

7. Visit San Francisco Baywalk

Among the nicest bay walks and the nicest place to spend a few hours (ideally during lunch and sunset) in Camotes.

8. Chill and Unwind at Santiago Bay Beach

The Santiago Bay Beach, a public beach with a long white-sand shoreline. The fine and powdery white sand stretches for almost a kilometer. 

The cave is very unique since it is connected to the ocean. If the ocean is in high or low tide, the water inside the cave is at the same level as well..

This is like the Virgin Island at Bantayan Island because you need to ride a small boat to reach the island. It is nice to spend time here as the beach has white sands.

9 Tourist Spots for Your CAMOTES ISLAND ITINERARY

Cebu is a province with plenty to offer visitors. If you’re visiting this part of Visayas, make sure to include Camotes Island in your itinerary. Camotes has white-sand beaches, cerulean, mirror-like waters, and other natural attractions. It is also accessible by bus and boat.

From Cebu City, board a northbound bus and alight at Danao. The fare is around P30. After arriving in Danao, look for the port and get on a boat traveling to Camotes. This will cost approximately P200. You can also board an OceanJet ferry from Cebu City pier to the island for P500. Here are some of the things to do and places to visit on the island.

This small but beautiful waterfall has a pool that is up to 10 feet deep. Visit and go swimming to douse the summer heat. There’s a P10 entrance fee. The fastest way to reach this attraction is to ride a motorbike.

If you want to visit a different attraction other than the beach, include this lake in your itinerary. Danao has a peaceful and relaxing ambiance where you can enjoy a variety of activities such as kayaking, horseback riding, and boating. There is an entrance fee of P15. Other fees include P50 for either kayak rental or horseback-riding, P150 for pedal-boating, and P500 for a lake cruise.

This cave is located within the premises of Danao Lake. It may be small, but it is beautiful. It also has a pool inside. Go swimming and chill in the grotto after a couple of hours of exploring the island. There’s an entrance fee of P20.

Camotes Island has stunning views, and one you shouldn’t miss is Buho Rock. The formations rising out of the waters make for a dramatic mix of the beauty and rawness of nature. Take a few pictures and selfies, after which try cliff diving to get an adrenaline rush. You have to pay a P20 entrance fee. Swim in the surrounding azure waters to get different angles of the beautiful rock formations.

This attraction in Barangay Union, San Francisco is another cave to include in your itinerary. It takes an hour and a half to explore and requires more effort compared to Timubo. Your efforts won’t be in vain however because you’ll get to marvel at the subterranean beauty of the island. There are stalactites and stalagmites that take on different shapes and sizes. You don’t have to pay an entrance fee but be sure to give a “donation” to the guide for assisting you.

This island getaway destination is the perfect place to chill and enjoy. Tulang Diot may be small, but it can be loads of fun. Swim or wade in the aquamarine waters, sunbathe, build a sandcastle, do nothing, throw a Frisbee around or enjoy a slow, lazy afternoon. You can pitch a tent here for P150. There’s an entrance fee of P10. The island is near the mainland and a boat ride only costs P10 per way. You’d have to go to Tulang Daku first, the motorcycle taxi costs P100 from Consuelo Port. You can also rent a cottage for P500/day.

This subterranean wonder is a noteworthy addition to your itinerary because of its pool and the light that enters from an opening in its roof. The surrounding stalactites and stalagmites also display the raw beauty of this attraction. There’s a P20 entrance fee. To get here, head on to Consuelo Wharf and board a bus traveling to Tudela. The fare is around P70. From Tudela’s town proper, hire a motorcycle to take you to the cave for approximately P50.

This cave is already a developed attraction but is still worth a look if you have time to spare. This underground destination has a natural pool that’s clear, mirror-like and bluish. Dive into its depths, swim, cool off or just float around. You’ll need to pay an entrance fee of P50. It’s near Consuelo, making it an easily accessible tourist spot.

Camotes Islands is a popular weekend destination for mainland Cebu, so we recommend avoiding weekends and public holidays for a much quieter island. You’ll also want to aim for the dry season from November – April. 

How to get to Camotes Island

The quickest way to Camotes Island is by fast craft from Mactan in Cebu. However, if you need to take a car to the island you can get a roro ferry from Danao Port just north of Cebu City.

5 Awesome Camotes Island Caves

1. bukilat cave.

Out of all the caves in Camotes, Bukilat is by far the biggest and the one we have to recommend you don’t miss out on. It’s one of the most popular Camotes Island tourist spots, attracting people from all over to marvel at this subterranean destination. A short descent down rocky steps will lead you to Bukilat Cave, an enormous expanse of stalagmites, stalactites and rock formations.

At the centre of Bukilat Cave is a shallow tidal pool, and so we recommend visiting at high tide when the water has risen high enough to wade in. Towards the back of the cave is an open skylight, where trees are visible and vines hang low. Beneath this sits a stalagmite altar, where you can live out your Indiana Jones fantasies or simply pose for a pic.

2. Paraiso Cave

Another epic cave in Camotes is Paraiso Cave, a turquoise swimming hole deep below ground level. Paraiso Cave is the most developed of the caves on Camotes Island, with a restaurant and resort having been built around it. There are even sitting areas carved into the rocks underground so you can spend quite a bit of time in the cave, claustrophobia permitting.

Paraiso Cave is deceptively deep, with water so clear you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s only a foot deep. In fact, if you visit during high tide, you’ll be chest deep in some of the clearest water you’ll likely ever see in your life.

3. Heaven Cave

One of the lesser known Camotes Island caves is Heaven Cave. Whilst not as popular with tourists as Bukilat or Paraiso, Heaven Cave is still a beautiful swimming hole and one worth visiting if you have the time. We stumbled across Heaven Cave accidentally as we drove around the island, not having any clue beforehand that it existed.

We paid a small entrance fee of 60 PHP to an old lady on the property before heading underground to Heaven Cave. It wasn’t yet high tide, so the water was quite shallow and we had to awkwardly crab crawl around the cave. The elderly lady told us to keep an eye out for crystals, however we weren’t really sure where to look, but just something to keep in mind!

4. Amazing Island Cave

Amazing Island Cave is by far our favourite cave on Camotes Island. The name says it all, and thankfully it does not disappoint. Unlike the others, there is so much space to swim and it’s even deep enough where we recommend you bring a mask and snorkel.

At the very entrance of Amazing Island Cave is a narrow channel, which is already deep enough for a good swim – just watch your head as it’s a tight space and we bumped our heads a few times on the rocks. If you swim through the channel it opens up into a large cavernous pool. This is where you’ll want to have your mask and snorkel! And fear not, if you’re not the strongest swimmer, you can use the life jackets provided.

5. Timubo Cave

Timubo Cave is by far the least developed cave on Camotes Island and is little more than a hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere, however, that’s what makes us love it even more. Aside from the cement steps and lighting, the only other manmade intervention was a Catholic grotto, but there was nothing explaining the significance of this.

A dark and somewhat treacherous trail underground leads to an opening of crystal-clear water. It was deep enough to warrant our mask and snorkel as we swam along and inspected the cave floor.

Finally, I am bringing you my Camotes Islands Travel Guide. I recently visited the place along with my friends: a fellow travel blogger, Claire Algarme of First Time Travels; Maricar Dabao a tour guide/ tour operator of Viaje Negrense; Mr. E, an event organizer based in Bacolod City.

We stayed at Camotes Islands for three days and 2 nights. I will be posting a separate article on my DIY Itinerary for the benefit of others who would want to visit the place.

ABOUT CAMOTES ISLANDS

Known as the Lost Horizon of the South, Camotes Island is located east of the Cebu Island, Southwest of Leyte and North of Bohol Island. Camotes Islands is composed of three major islands namely, Poro, Pacijan and Ponson Island.

SANTIAGO BAY Has a relatively long stretch of white beach. It is very popular among tourists and locals because the beach has no entrance fee. Entrance: Free

CAMOTES ISLANDS’ CAVES Don’t be scared nor discouraged with the word cave. Caves in Camotes Islands are basically easy to visit. These caves usually have concrete stairs and well lit. I visited the following caves on my recent visit: Paraiso, Timobo, and Bukilat. I made short descriptions of these caves on my List of Tourist Attractions in Camotes Island. MANGODLONG BEACH RESORT Mangodlong Beach Resort is quite small but interesting at the same time. As of this writing, some developments are still ongoing at the place. Resort Entrance – PHP 40

LAKE DANAO Lake Danao covers around 650 hectares making it the largest lake in Central Visayas. Several water activities can be enjoyed when visiting these places such as Kayaking, boating and much more. Entrance fee- PHP 15

BUHO ROCK RESORT The Buho Rock Resort is another interesting place to visit when in Camotes Island. You need to take several concrete stairs to reach the water wherein you can do cliff diving. Entrance Fee -PHP 20

BUSAY FALLS If you want another experience apart from caving and water activities, you can also try the Busay Falls in the island.

Cebuano is the dialect spoken on the island. However, almost all can speak Filipino and can understand English.

There is an ATM machine at the center of Poro as well as Palawan for you to receive and send money to other places.

TOUR PACKAGES | GETTING AROUND THE ISLAND | ITINERARY

The islands can be explored easily using local transportation such as Habal habal, Tricycle or Jeepney. The moment you arrive at Consuelo Port, you will see immediately several vehicles on standby waiting for any guests that will hire them.

The Island is basically small so its easy to make your own itinerary. if you will be renting a tricycle or van, they can already help you on how to make your plan the moment you are there.

The drivers offer packages at very affordable rates.

Habal Habal – can be rented as a self-drive or with a driver. Rent for the scooter (habal-habal) is PHP 500/day exclusive of gas. A scooter can carry 2 guests.

If you are a group of 3 to 5, you can opt to rent a tricycle. Rates vary according to the places you wanted to visit. The driver can also recommend places to visit.

HOW TO GET TO CAMOTES ISLANDS

For people outside the Philippines, the nearest Port in the Island is the Mactan International Airport in Cebu City. From the airport, you can take a taxi going to the North Terminal, Cebu City.

There are several ports around the Camotes Islands:

Poro is the main port, where the ferry from Cebu City arrives. Consuelo, for the service to/from Danao Pilar, for Ormoc and Leyte

Your route: Cebu to Port of Danao, then Danao Port to Camotes Island

CEBU TO PORT DANAO

You can take a taxi from Cebu City to Danao Port, however, it may cost you much.

Ceres bus and other buses are available at the Cebu North Bus Terminal. From the terminal take the bus that that will pass by or that goes to Danao port.

DANAO TO CAMOTES ISLAND

At Danao Port are several boats going either to Consuelo, San Francisco, Poro or Kawit. There are boat transport services namely; Shuttle Super Ferry, Jomalia Shipping Lines and some pump boats (Ave Maria, Santo Nino de Cebu) Boat fares range from 150 pesos to 300 pesos (one-way ticket price)

SUPER SHUTTLE FERRY The Super Shuttle Ferry goes once a day from Danao to Consuelo and once to Poro. There is also one boat a day going back from Consuelo to Danao and one from Poro to Danao.

Rates are almost the same for both shipping lines.

Upon arrival on Camotes Island, plenty of motorcycle drivers (habal-habal drivers) will be waiting for you. Charges for motorcycle transportation are at a standard fixed rate to every destination. Hence, it may be difficult to bargain.

Lastly, transportation costs in getting around the island might cost more than standard rates compared to going around the city.

Although Camotes Island has the cleanest city (San Francisco) of the region and amazing tourist destinations, their rates are super friendly. You can go to a great public beach with very white, long shoreline at no cost- in Santiago Bay. Further, fees for tourist spots range from 10 to 50 Philippine pesos only! You do not usually get these deals from exceptional tourist attractions of Cebu.

Moreover, decent hotels, like Santiago Bay Garden Resort and Mangodlong Rock, do not cost as much as those you find in other parts of Cebu. With breathtaking views and beaches, swimming pools, and nice amenities, you can enjoy the resort for at least 1,000 Philippine pesos.

2. Diverse Tour Destinations and Activities.

This tiny island brings huge travel opportunities. Unlike Bantayan Island where you can just stay put in one or few areas, Camotes Island offers a lot of places for you to visit, and varied activities.

Like most islands, you would want to have insta-worthy photos with your swimming attire at white, clean beaches: Santiago Bay, Mangodlong Rock, Tulang Diot, and Bakhaw Beach.

Also, if you wish to dip in cool, fresh waters in the pretty caves, you can do so. Some of these caves you can find in Camotes Island are Timubo Cave, Bukilat Cave, and Paraiso Cave.

Since Santiago Bay Garden and Resort and Mangodlong Rock Resort are sister resorts, if you happen to check in at Santiago, you can just look in on and enjoy Mangodlong Rock beach as well. It is developed with tropical huts as cottages. There is a sand-bar connecting to its restaurant. Further, if you wish to have satisfying swimming experience with shallow and deep waters, this beach is good for you. You can also jump and dive in from their formed rocks with cottages.

Another beach that has been just discovered by tourists recently is Bakhaw Beach. At least five years ago, this beach was only known to the locals, and used to be public/without fee. Currently, it has been said that a cheap, 20-Philippine peso fee is to be paid to be used for cleaning/maintenance of the beach. You can have picnic under shades of trees while basking to the scene of white sands and blue waters.

4. Interesting Caves.

Camotes Island is truly one of a kind as it does not only give us the beaches but also the caves. They have multitude of these natural underground chambers. Moreover, their caves are extraordinary.

As mentioned before, the most popular are Timubo, Paraiso, and Bukilat. However, another equally beautiful but not yet officially developed is Holy Crystal Cave.

Timubo and Bukilat caves have P20 entrance fees. Timubo used to be the most sought-after because it is just near other tourist spots in San Francisco, Camotes, like Lake Danao, Santiago Bay, Mangodlong Rock and Tulang Diot. Years ago, its entrance fee was only P10. On the other hand, Bukilat Cave is in the other town of Camotes – in Poro Island. According to tourists, Bukilat cave is the “grandest”. They say going inside it is surreal since looking at it from the outside, you would never have guessed that it is huge inside. Plus, it does not smell because there are natural openings in the cave, so sunlight enters in, and odors escape.

Paraiso Cave is the more pricey one. It costs p 50. However, it is also “classy” since there are guides in the cave. You will have to move your way inside small openings. And, when you finally are able to get through, it is a very satisfying experience. This cave is also near Consuelo Port, one of the ports that can get you to Camotes.

Finally, Holy Crystal cave is the largest among the others. It has eight levels. And, surprisingly, no entrance fee is required. According to the owner, he believes that the cave is miraculous. And that it brings spiritual message through the formations of stalagmites and stalactites. For almost two hours, you are able to see magnificence in the  cave formations. Thus, although you are not asked for a fee, you may want to give a large donation. My relative gave one when we went there.

5. Other Bodies of Water: Lake, Falls, Springs

So, I’ve already told you about the diversity of Camotes Island. This island has beaches and caves, but it also has other bodies of water, like lake, falls, and springs.

Lake Danao has always been Camotes Island’s favorite spot. Legend has it that Lake Danao is formed due to a couple who kept on fighting, Isyong and Isyang. These couple were then separated by waters and became islets. These islets named Crocodile and Snake constitute Lake Danao. This is one of the most striking spots you could ever visit. So try going to their islets, have picnic there with your loved ones!

In addition to a lake, Camotes Island has Falls! Busay Falls is in Tudela, Poro. It is not a usual destination among tourists because it may be farther than the other spots found in San Francisco. However, locals would recommend Busay Falls to tourists. After a ten-minute hike, you will be amazed at the clear pool of the Fall. You can even jump in at a 10-feet cliff. Also, the entrance fee is very cheap at P 10.

Other fresh waters found in Camotes Island are Capasanan Spring and Hagnaon Spring. These are springs in San Jose, Poro. Tourists have yet to discover these. These places do not require fees. However, since the springs are open and no one seems obliged to clean and care for them, there may be times they would need cleaning.

6. Wonderful Islet: Tulang Diot

A place where my loved ones think that take their breath away is the Tulang Diot. Tulang Diot, in English is “Little Island”. Across this, is the Tulang Dako or “Bigger Island”.

White sand and beaches cover the southern part of this Tulang Diot. The surrounding sight is riveting.

And, it is not far from the mainland Camotes. A motorized boat transports you to the islet in ten minutes. Further, it only costs P 10 per person by boat. And another P 10 for environmental fee as you step on the islet.

7. Best Resort: Mangodlong Paradise

Listed in the Top Resorts in Cebu is Mangodlong Paradise Beach Resort. Compared to the other resorts in the list, Mangodlong Paradise costs the least. This is true to Camotes Island’s nature of giving the best value for your money.

Sutukil is a blended word for three cooking techniques: SUgba (which means Grilled), TUwa (which translates to stewed) , and KILaw (which means “to eat raw”). Since this is a land surrounded by waters, the main dish consists of fish and other seafoods, such as crabs, shrimps, prawns, and even lobsters.

The foods served in their mini restaurants consist of produce freshly taken from the waters of Camotes Island. A massive fish which costs four times in the city is accessible for your consumption. You can enjoy variety of foods, especially seafoods, at affordable rates in Camotes Island.

9. More Transport Options.

Going to Camotes Island may mean you have to ride different modes of transportation. However, do not let that discourage you. Instead, take that as the joy of the travel. Before, the only way was to travel about 2 hours from Cebu City to Danao. The route from Danao is still the only option for those who have vehicle on board. Travel time from Danao to Consuelo Port in Camotes is two hours. Consuelo is in San Francisco, Camotes where tourist destinations abound.

However, now, you do not need to travel long to Consuelo Port. The other option besides the Northern Danao, is the Mactan wharf (which is near the airport). If you have just arrived at the airport, Mactan wharf is just few minutes away. The Jomalia Fastcrast will take you to Camotes in only one hour and thirty minutes.

The final choice is Pier 1, which is in Cebu City. The point of destination though is in Poro, Island in Camotes. Travel time is one and a half hours. If you wish to return and dock in Cebu City, you may choose this route. An Oceanjet Fastcraft will take you.

10. Laid-back, Respectful People.

Camotes Island is surely a place where people do not rip you off. With all the affordable deals from accommodation to entrance fees and foods, this island is where you feel secure of the money you spend on.

People are very respectful of you, and would NOT offer over priced rates. However, do not be surprised when drivers would quote high prices for transportation. Transportation is the only costly thing in the island. Apparently, you have to understand why that is. In most islands, fuel is hard to find, and is difficult to transport to a secluded island like Camotes.

HELFPUL REMINDER AND TIP:

There are many areas where cellular phone signal is weak. If you do not have contact with local drivers, you can book with Travel Cebu to arrange the proper itinerary as well as private transportation for you. Travel Cebu has partner drivers who will be ready to serve you. Plus, you may find that having booked with a private transportation may actually MINIMIZE YOUR COST as drivers of motorcyles, tricycles and multicabs would charge you high for a tour. For example, a 15-minute habal-habal (motorcycle) drive would charge you 100 Philippine pesos. A tricycle drive from Mangodlong to Poro wharf would cost 600 to 700 Philippine pesos.
