Margaritaville at Sea

In 2024, Margaritaville at Sea updated its popular Heroes Sail Free program, renaming it Heroes Sail Free and First.

The new program offers all active and veteran military, first responders, law enforcement officers, medical personnel and educators in the U.S. a free sailing with a paying guest as often as they like throughout the year. The offer applies to sailings aboard Margaritaville at Sea Islander, the line's newest ship, as well as Margaritaville at Sea Paradise.

With the addition of the Heroes Sail First component, qualified passengers also receive an Express Pass, which includes priority embarkation and disembarkation at both home and destination ports, two complimentary welcome beverages, priority luggage delivery and expedited booking assistance for shore excursions for all sailing destinations.

The offer applies to windowless inside cabins only. Any additional cabin guest who does not qualify for the program must pay the standard cruise sailing rate. While the cruise is free, guests are required to pay all port taxes, fees and gratuities.

MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises offers discounted fares to all active and retired U.S. military personnel and family members traveling with them. You can receive a 5% discount on inside and ocean-view cabins, a 10% discount on balcony cabins and suites and a "kids sail free" promotion on select sailings.

Additionally, MSC will not penalize cancellations due to deployment. You will receive a 100% future cruise credit for two years from cancellation (with verification from the commanding officer).

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line 's Military Appreciation Program provides exclusive benefits to U.S. military members, veterans, the National Guard, reserves and their spouses. Members of the program receive a 10% discount on all cruise fares. It's also combinable with the Free at Sea program, which includes free drinks, airfare for a second guest, Wi-Fi and other perks.

Additionally, NCL's Teacher Cruise Discount offers educators across the U.S. and Canada an exclusive year-round 5% cruise fare discount and $50 onboard credit to use toward spa services, specialty dining and other activities. The teacher discount is also combinable with the Free at Sea program.

The line also runs its Giving Joy contest each May during Teacher Appreciation Week. Winning educators within the U.S. receive a seven-night cruise for two.

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises extends up to $250 in free onboard spending credit to U.S. and Canadian veterans and active, retired and disabled military personnel. You can apply the credit toward specialty dining, onboard shopping, shore excursions and spa treatments.

Throughout the year, the line also has special promotions for first responders, medical professionals and teachers (no specials were available at the time of publication). Those who qualify can verify their status through Princess' website and sign up to receive notifications of promotions.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean offers military rates to active and retired personnel, veterans and their spouses in the U.S. and Canada. The line also extends discounts to police officers (local, state or federal) and firefighters. The discount applies to friends and family members staying in the same cabin as the eligible service member or first responder.

The special rates vary from sailing to sailing, and the best way to access the discount is by booking through a travel agent or directly with Royal Caribbean over the phone.

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours

​​In 2024, Scenic will offer exclusive discounts and specially curated travel experiences for active and retired U.S. military personnel and their families.

For example, active military and veterans will receive an additional $150 discount on Scenic River cruises, a $150 discount for Emerald Cruises river and yacht sailings and a $250 discount on Scenic Eclipse sailings with proof of current or past military status. The discount can be applied to each passenger.

United Airlines offers access to their United Club Lounge to military members either in uniform, or with present leave orders or with R&R papers. Cruise Lines

Police and firefighter cruise discounts.

Several cruise lines offer discounts to police officers and firefighters, including Royal Caribbean, Holland America Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, MSC Cruises, and Costa Cruises. Discounts are typically only available for certain ships and specific sailing dates. Occasionally we can find first responder cruises, which offer discounted pricing, special perks, and the bonus of spending time with fellow first responders and their families.

Military Cruise Discounts

Disney Cruise Lines offers discounts to active and retired members of the United States military, but they are limited to approximately ten sailings a year. Additionally, Disney Cruise Line only offers 50 staterooms per cruise to be booked with the military travel discount.

Other cruise lines that offer military cruise discounts to members of the United States military include Carnival Cruise Lines, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America, and Celebrity Cruises. Discounts are often limited depending upon when you are sailing and which ship you are on.

Hotels and Resorts

Great wolf lodge.

Great Wolf Lodge is a chain of resorts offering family friendly accommodations and indoor water parks. Located around the United States, you can plan a trip specifically to visit the indoor water parks or we can help you find other activities and excursions to make a memorable vacation. Great Wolf Lodge offers a 30% discounted room rate to all firefighters, emergency medical service personnel, police officers, and both active and retired members of the military through their Howlin’ Heroes program .

Ceasar’s Entertainment

If a Vegas trip for the adults is on your must-do list, Caesar’s Entertainment offers a 10% discount on their room rates for first responders and members of the military . This 10% discount can be added on to other discounts, which is unique to this property. Caesar’s Entertainment also owns and operates resorts in Southern California, Lake Tahoe, New Orleans, Los Cabos, and Dubai.

Hawk’s Cay Resort

Located on Duck Key (near Marathon Key) in the Florida Keys, Hawk’s Cay Resort offers the Heroes Salute discount on hotel rooms for military personnel and first responders. Rooms are available for reduced rates, and you can also save on activities and experiences, and participate in special weekly events.

B Resort and Spa

This resort, located at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, offers reduced hotel room rates for first responders and members of the military.  You can enjoy all of the benefits of staying on Disney World property, like Extra Magic Hours and Disney transportation.

Shades of Green Resort

Thank you for sharing. If my memory served, the promotion seemed to be better the last time they offered it; however, you really don't know for sure til they reveal the prices for selected sailings. Difficult decision for us as there's a great balcony price for a January Mexican cruise with the Love Boat promo...kind of a roll the dice if this new promo will be better or not.

Last time, I believe Canada was included as we are part of the N.A. market sector.  This time, not.  Too bad for our healthcare workers - or any other country - would be deserving of it.

Holy cow!  Just checked and the cruise in 2024 is Not Available. It may already be sold out. I know cabins were going fast but didn't think it would be full. Probably not a good idea to try to cancel and rebook.

"Standard fare" is the full fare which almost no one ever pays.  The cruises are always 30-40% off, so this could still be a decent savings.  Hopefully they have not restricted it to a small number of cruises during off peak tines.

Standard fare is the fare that does not include internet, beverage package and crew appreciation (tips).

Any discount for this promotion will be off the current standard fare.

I assume that for $50/day/person you could add the internet, beverage package and crew appreciation which would bring it up to the Plus fare amenities which is the standard fare plus $50/day/person.

8 first responders hospitalized after hazmat situation in Florida; suspect arrested

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was arrested after a hazmat situation on Wednesday left eight first responders hospitalized.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office , the incident occurred at 9:21 a.m. when deputies went to a mobile home at 310 N. Industrial Loop in LaBelle to follow up on reports of a stolen vehicles.

Deputies executed a search warrant for all properties at the location and remained on scene for the “better part of the day,” however, at about 3:35 p.m., deputies found a body in a mobile home.

After entering the home to help the unconscious man, who was later identified as the suspect, Juan Gonzalez Diaz, 45, of Miami, deputies suddenly became ill.

Twenty officials were reportedly exposed and eight were hospitalized, according to NBC affiliate WBBH .

The sheriff’s office said it’s unclear what caused the first responders to become sick and they were taken to a local medical facility. All first responders have since been medically cleared.

No residents were harmed.

Gonzalez Diaz was arrested and taken to Hendry County Jail after being cleared by physicians. He is being held without bond on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.

LaBelle Fire, LaBelle EMS, Fort Myers Hazmat Team, Clewiston Police Department, Homeland Security, Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency returned to the scene on Thursday and are currently investigating the suspicious element.

28 people left dangling, stuck upside down on ride at Oaks Amusement Park: Video

Atmosfear, a ride at the oaks amusement park in portland, oregon, will be closed until further notice after the scary encounter..

A ride at Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, Oregon took a horrible turn on Friday after it left 28 riders stuck upside down.

Around 2:55 p.m. on June 14 thrill seekers found themselves in a fearful position. While on board the AtmosFEAR ride, it stopped in midair in a 360-degree setting leaving 28 riders suspended midair. The parks' personnel contacted 911 emergency responders, the park's press release said.

First responders were dispatched and arrived at the scene around 3:20 p.m. When the responders arrived, the Oaks Park Maintenance were able to return the riders safely to the unloading position. The paramedics from the Portland Fire & Rescue and American Medical Response were then able to give assistance to the riders in need, the release said.

A rider with a pre-existing medical condition was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The people that were on the ride were then released and sent home, the release said.

Oaks Amusement Park releases statement, offers refunds

"We wish to express our deepest appreciation to the first responders and our staff for taking prompt action, leading to a positive outcome (on Friday), and to the rest of the park guests who swiftly followed directions to vacate the park to make way for the emergency responders to attend to the situation," the parks spokesperson said in a statement to USA TODAY. "Most of all, we are thankful that the riders are safe and with their families."

Any park guest who had their visit cut short on Friday will be a given refund or opportunity to reschedule their visit. If you were at the park when the incident occurred, please keep your ride bracelet to help expedite the refund or rescheduling process. Amusement park goers react to the AtmosFEAR ride getting stuck

One amusement park goer captured the moment that riders got stuck in midair while on the AtmosFEAR ride on TikTok.

"This isn't supposed to be upside down like this. It's been like that for like already two to three minutes," Chris Ryan said in the post. "I feel bad for them because all the power is shut off on it too right now. It's scary."

"Update they're still up there. It's been about five minutes maybe a little bit more and they've just been hanging up there this whole time," Ryan said. "We just asked the lady at the bottom of the Ferris wheel if this has ever happened before and she said 'no' and she said she's 'actually concerned for them.' Oh, they just said the park is closed."

Ryan also adds that he was spending the day at the park with his wife for his birthday. He said the people on the ride were stuck in that position for a half an hour.

Oaks Amusement Park closes ride for further investigation

In the press release the park said, that the AtmosFEAR has operated smoothly since it opened in 2021, but the ride will be closed until further notice.

In addition, the park plans to conduct an investigation into what happen to the ride prior to to the incident before issuing repairs and reopening the ride.

"Oaks Park Management was in immediate contact with the manufacturer and will work with both the manufacturer and state inspectors to identify the cause of the stoppage," the spokesperson said.

The park hasn't specified when the AtmosFEAR will reopen.

Norwegian Cruise Line has introduced its Military Appreciation Program as a way of honoring military veterans and their families, with exclusive experiences, amenities, discounts off cruises beginning January 1, 2023 as well as free at Sea program options combined for even further savings; booking through this program also results in commemorative merchandise!

Royal Caribbean , Celebrity and MSC all provide cruise discounts specifically targeted towards first responders such as police officers and firemen – sometimes known as first responder discounts – though these tend to be harder to come by than military discounts. They do however offer specific cruises at certain times of year with these first responder discounts which Royal Caribbean offers with first responder discounts as a benefit of employment.

Thirdly, those working in the travel industry can find significant discounts. This can include tour operators jobs, hotel work or tourism boards promoting travel as a service – basically any business promoting travel in any form. These specials usually become available 90 to 60 days post cruise end when cruise lines attempt to unload unoccupied cabins from their rosters.
