Note: This will impact all of the Highland tours from Edinburgh in our guide, but the more rural you travel, the fewer options are available for hospitality during winter. It may be worth packing a lunch, giving you more time for sightseeing!

Also, wear layers to ensure maximum comfort on and off the coach.

Loch Ness, Glencoe, Highlands & Ben Nevis

Another option for tours to Loch Ness from Edinburgh, which allows you to see all of the Scottish sights that most newcomers dream of, are featured during this coach trip .

Embark from Edinburgh’s Old Town and drive by Stirling Castle on the way to Callander, aka The Gateway to the Highlands, then through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

Then, the guided bus tour takes the winding roads to majestic Glencoe, stopping for a photo opportunity of the famous Three Sisters hills, two of which are classified as Munros.

The tour continues through Fort William, passing by Ben Nevis, the highest mountain of the British Isles.

Lunch is enjoyed in the quaint canal town of St. Augustus, where visitors can take a boat tour of Loch Ness or relax by the Caledonian Canal.

The final leg takes in Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge, Cairngorms National Park, Loch Laggan, Grampian Mountains, and the Pass of Drumochter before a comfort stop at Pitlochry in Perthshire.

The air-conditioned bus seats 6-57 people, and the price includes live onboard commentary.

There are over 4000 reviews on GetYourGuide, with statements such as “humorous and so informative,” “totally worth it,” and “storytelling was incredible.”

  • Travel: Bus, 16-57 people

Glenfinnan, Fort William, & Glencoe Day Tour

Depart Edinburgh to visit the viaduct made famous by the Harry Potter movies during this Highlands tour !

The first comfort stop during the 12-hour journey is in Callander, then on to the dramatic landscape of Glencoe, which has been the backdrop of popular movies such as James Bonds’ Skyfall.

The next route hugs the banks of Loch Linnhe on the way to Fort William for a lunch break, fuelling up for the star of the show: the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

It’s surreal to think that this Victorian viaduct was built in 1897, and today, it is one of the most visited locations in the Scottish Highlands as this is where the Jacobite steam train that resembles Hogwarts Express passes four times a day to thousands of camera phone clicks and captures.

Glenfinnan is also home to the Black Lake, or Great Lake, that Hogwarts Castle overlooks, it is called Loch Shiel in real life.

This is where the boat rises from the water for the 700-year-old competition, the Triwizard Tournament in the Goblet of Fire.

Another landmark is the Glenfinnan Monument, a tribute to those who died in the 1745 Jacobite uprising, built in 1815.

The bus trip back to Edinburgh is broken up with a stop in Pitlochry.

There are over 2000 reviews on GetYourGuide, with statements such as “the views even from the coach are stunning”, “full of information”, and “informative and entertaining”.

  • Duration: 12 hours
  • Travel: Bus, 16 – 53 people

Reserve your spot at GetYourGuide or Viator .

Loch Lomond, Stirling Castle & Kelpies Tour

This tour is a little shorter at nine hours and, like the above options, includes Loch Lomond and Stirling; however, it does not travel as far as Glencoe, Loch Ness, and Fort William.

A bonus with this shorter trip is that it visits the enchanting 100ft Kelpies located at The Helix; you honestly have to see them with your own eyes to appreciate how outstanding the craft by Scottish sculptor Andy Scott is.

The next stop is the largest loch in Scotland, Loch Lomond, where visitors can pay for an additional cruise before driving through the Highlands in Miniature, Trossachs National Park and a lunch stop.

The final leg is Callander driving by Doune Castle, an Outlander filming location, and a tour of Stirling Castle to learn about William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots.

The tour ends back in Edinburgh.

There are over 1000 reviews, such as “we saw a lot in one day” and “never a boring/dull moment”.

  • Duration: 9 hours

Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond & Whisky Tour from Edinburgh

Add a splash of scotch to your Edinburgh day tour with this 10-hour trip to a distillery.

The bus excursion leaves Edinburgh for Scotland’s biggest city, Glasgow, to visit the modern Clydeside Distillery, where guests can participate in a tour and tasting session for an additional fee.

Lunch can be bought at the next stop, Loch Lomond (Aberfoyle or Balmaha), with ample time to explore the shores before the final tourist attraction, Stirling Castle (additional fee).

There are hundreds of reviews, such as “an experience of a lifetime” and “a solid 5/5”.

Outlander Adventure Day Tour with Entry

Calling all Claire and Jamie fans, this 1-day Outlander tour visits five filming locations and several historic landmarks, too.

The first stop is Jamie’s home, Lallybroch, which is Midhope Castle in real life, and then it’s on to the striking Blackness Castle, aka Jack Randall’s headquarters.

Mary Queen of Scots’ birthplace, Linlithgow Palace or Wentworth Prison in Outlander land, is up next.

The palace was also used as a canvas in the Netflix TV show Outlaw King.

In the afternoon, the bus travels to Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, then Outlander’s Castle Leoch, which is called Doune Castle.

Here, you can listen to an audio guide that features a chapter spoken by the one and only Sam Heughan.

The final stop before returning to the city is Culross, Cranesmuir, the Fife village used for Claire’s herb garden (Culross Palace) and its historic streets.

Culross is also a filming location in Captain America: First Avenger.

There are hundreds of reviews such as “great stories along the way” and “highly recommend the tour”.

Hogwarts Express and History Tour

You don’t have to travel to London’s Platform 9¾ to experience the Hogwarts Express as a Jacobite train chugs over Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland, which you can witness during this Hogwarts Express tour .

The tour leaves Edinburgh for scenic Glencoe, then on to Fort William, passing Harry Potter filming locations such as Rannoch Moor, where the Death Eaters soar through the sky and abruptly board the train in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I.

During this trip, you will also learn more about Scottish history and the landmarks along the rugged road.

Alight the Hogwarts Express at Fort William and steam over the Victorian-era Glenfinnan Viaduct, which departs in Mallaig, where you can enjoy lunch.

Note: We have personally done this train ride, and the train itself, although beautifully historic, is not a replica of the Hogwarts Express, which disappoints some visitors.

After dining, the tour bus transfers you from Mallaig to the Glenfinnan Visitor Center so that you can watch the train thunder over the viaduct you just crossed.

There are hundreds of reviews such as “absolutely brilliant day” and “great guide and very knowledgeable”.

However, some reviews state that the Glenfinnan Visitor Center car park was fully occupied; therefore, they did not get to experience watching the train on the viaduct.

  • Duration: 13 hours

St Andrews Tour From Edinburgh

We may be biased as we hail from The Kingdom of Fife , but we would love for visitors to consider this 1-day tour to see “it’s always sunny in Fife!”.

Leaving the city, the bus travels over the iconic Forth Bridge, which connects Edinburgh with Fife, then through the seaside village of Aberdour before stopping in the East Neuk villages of Anstruther, Pittenweem, Crail and St. Monans.

Popular day trips with locals, these charming villages are known for fishing trade, beaches, and witchcraft.

The next stop is St Andrews, which is famous for golf and the meeting place of Prince William and Catherine Middleton (Kate).

The tour then heads to the Lomond Hills and Falkland, an Outlander location where you can pose by Bruce Fountain as Jamie’s ghost does, looking up at Claire in Mrs Baird’s Guesthouse window.

On the way back to Edinburgh, the route passes Loch Leven and stops at the bustling South Queensferry to see the Forth Bridges in all of their glory.

There are hundreds of reviews such as “more than enough photo stops” and “enough time in all of our stops”.

Hadrian’s Wall & Roman Britain 1-Day Tour from Edinburgh

Cross the border between Scotland and England during this bus tour to Hadrian’s Wall.

Departing Edinburgh in the morning, the first stop is Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, one of 70 former royal burghs in the country, known for the 12th century Augustinian Abbey.

Next, the bus stops at Carter Bar, aka toll-gate, on the edge of the Cheviot Hills, which separates Scotland from England.

Now, for the main event, the route follows the south side of Hadrian’s Wall, with a stop at Steel Rigg, one of the best viewpoints of the wall, with Crag Lough Lake sitting in the distance.

Before returning to the city, visitors can add on an optional tour of the Roman auxiliary fort, Vindolanda.

There are hundreds of reviews such as “the landscape was amazing.” and “highlight of my trip to Scotland”.

  • Duration: 11 hours
  • Travel: 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach

A lunch stop is provided in Melrose before visiting the 15th-century Rosslyn Chapel, famous for its inclusion in Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code book and movie, before driving back to Edinburgh.

There are hundreds of reviews, such as “couldn’t have been better.” and “a healthy dose of Scottish history”.

Edinburgh Zoo has announced a sweet deal for people travelling to Murrayfield Stadium and are in need of a place to park. The zoo is offering those travelling to the concert by car a spot to park, which is just a twenty minute walk from the arena.

On Friday, June 7, Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9, ticket holders to see The Eras Tour will be able to park at Edinburgh Zoo for just £20. It’s a £20 flat fee per day for parking in the zoo car park.

Visitors won’t be able to pre book parking, they will have to pay via a pay machine in the car park when they arrive. Edinburgh Zoo recommends paying for parking when visitors arrive to avoid queues at the machines after the concerts.

The zoo also pointed out that parking will be on a first come, first served basis, so visitors will have to arrive with plenty of time. And if you’re a Swiftie who’s also an animal lover, Edinburgh Zoo is offering ticket holders a cool 25 per cent discount off zoo admission.

All you need to do is show your Eras Tour concert ticket at the zoo’s entrance to receive the discount over the weekend. This offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer, and will be available from June 7 to June 9 only. It will only be available for walk up tickets only.

Edinburgh Zoo has been gearing up for the Swiftie celebrations, by giving its penguins their very own Taylor Swift friendship bracelets. The zoo wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “So make the friendship bracelets...Our penguins are ready for #EdinburghTSTheErasTour with their friendship bracelets!

"Remember, show your Eras Tour ticket at the door to get 25% off zoo admission (valid 7-9 June on walk-up tickets only) @taylornation13 @taylorswift13.”

Taylor Swift kneels while singing onstage.

Edinburgh is known for its annual Fringe Festival.

Each year, up-and-coming performers bring their best stuff to the Scottish capital to try and cultivate an audience.

On June 7-9, Taylor Swift — who arguably might have the largest fanbase in the world — is headed to Edinburgh not for the Fringe Fest but three huge ‘Eras Tour’ concerts at Murrayfield Stadium with special guest Paramore.

As expected, tickets aren’t exactly cheap to see the Time Magazine 2023 Person Of The Year live.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets was $246 USD before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows start anywhere from $255 to $339 before fees.

While that might sound expensive, seats are much, much cheaper than they were after the release of Taylor’s “Tortured Poet’s Department” on April 19.

Back then, $498 was the cheapest price you’d pay to get in the door at Murrayfield Stadium.

Now that seats can be found for $ , Swifties can save over $250 (!) just by waiting until the last minute.

Sure, those aren’t exactly Fringe Festival prices but for any Tay Tay megafan, this is a steal.

For more information, we’ve got everything you need to know and more about Taylor Swift’s three ‘Eras Tour’ concerts at Edinburgh, GB’s Murrayfield Stadium below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Taylor Swift Edinburgh tickets 2024

A complete calendar including all ‘Eras Tour’ Murrayfield Stadium concert dates and links to the cheapest tickets available can be found here:

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.

Over the past few months, we spoke to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live, reported on  dropping ticket prices  and  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends .

Taylor Swift new music

Swift’s  “The Tortured Poets Department”  was released at midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek, synthy “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

If you want to give it a spin — if you haven’t already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department”  here .

The Hayley Williams-fronted pop-punk rockers are opening for Swift from May through August this year. This may come as a bit of a surprise to some fans considering that the group mounted a successful arena tour of their own in 2023.

That tour, came on the heels of Paramore’s 2022 reunion; prior to that, the band had been on a five-year hiatus.

For fans who want to check out their latest, their 2023 album “This Is Why” can be heard  here .

Huge stars on tour in 2024

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (sometimes more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable — likely stateside — concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Olivia Rodrigo

•  Kacey Musgraves

•  Gracie Abrams

•  Billie Eilish

Outlander 's Sam Heughan Jokes That Taylor Swift Should Leave Travis Kelce for Jamie Fraser

The Outlander cast is headed to the Eras Tour in Edinburgh.

preview for Outlander Cast vs IRL

"We're going to go see Taylor Swift play in Scotland and I think most of the cast is going," Heughan said in a clip posted to his Instagram yesterday . "She obviously doesn't know this, but when she comes to Scotland and she sees me in the audience, she's going to forget all about him [Travis Kelce] and fall for a man in a ginger wig."

He continues, clearly joking, "How can she resist? She's going to shake him off and take me out instead. I'm really excited!"

Heughan captioned his video "Welcome to Scotland Taylor! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. JAMMF is a Swiftie 🫶," referencing his character, whose full name is James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser . Watch the full clip here:

Swift will perform three nights at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, starting tomorrow, June 7 through Sunday, June 9. It's unclear which night the Outlander cast will attend—or if Heughan will go in costume as his character, Jamie, as he said he'll be in the audience in a "ginger wig."

Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, recently watched the Eras Tour in Paris, telling his brother Jason on their podcast, "It is absolutely unbelievable. I enjoyed every bit of it. I don't know if they're just getting better or if I just keep forgetting how they are." He added, "I'm just happy for everybody that's in the 'Eras Tour' that's performing, from the dancers to the band and obviously, Taylor. It just looks like they're having so much fun out there, and they're absolutely killing it. They're putting on a show that you won't get anywhere else."

Scottish Officials Issue Warning Ahead of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Dates

Scotland's capital city officials warned Swifties about what not to do ahead of the pop star's Eras Tour in Edinburgh and even put together a guide to must-see area attractions for fans. ABOVE: Taylor Swift performs Eras Tour at the Groupama Stadium in France.

Scotland is sharing a pointed message aimed at Swifties preparing to travel to its capital ahead of Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour .

The 34-year-old international pop superstar embarked on the European leg of her tour last month, and in just a few days, she'll be arriving in Edinburgh for a string of sold-out shows planned for this upcoming weekend.

With her first of three concerts kicking off on Friday, June 7, at Murrayfield Stadium, the city's officials are warning fans of the 14-time Grammy winner what not to do before and after her shows in a notice posted to the city council's website titled " Edinburgh gets Taylored ."

"We are delighted that Taylor Swift has chosen to bring her tour to our city. We know she and all her loyal Swifties will enjoy true Scottish hospitality and receive a warm welcome to our capital city," the message began.

The official statement went on, sharing a few reminders with Swifties, including that they should "Only travel to Scottish Gas Murrayfield and the surrounding area if you have a ticket," citing a trend that's taken off around the globe where fans without tickets gather in the street outside the arenas to trade friendship bracelets and enjoy the show from afar.

Council members have also asked concertgoers to plan ahead, as public transportation will be crowded and overnight accommodations–like hotel rooms and Airbnbs–are extremely limited.

The post also reminded Swifties to remain mindful of their surroundings while traveling to and from the show. "Please remember, on your way to the stadium, you will be passing through streets where people live. Please respect their homes."

It wasn't all in bad faith, though, as the people who know Edinburgh best also put together several  all-inclusive guides for Swifties looking to experience the culture of Scotland's capital city at its most-toured attractions and must-see spots.

The concert will begin at 6 p.m. local time, with Paramore opening for Swift. Edinburgh is five hours ahead of the East Coast, so it will be 1 p.m. EST when the band kicks off the show.

15 Best Edinburgh Tours

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and has been for nearly seven centuries.

Not surprisingly, in many ways, it’s considered the heart of the country and is the premier center for education, arts, literature, and engineering.

If you’re looking to relax on a white-sand beach and sip an umbrella drink, it’s probably not a wise destination choice, but for lovers of history and culture, it’s well worth a visit.

The city attracts more than a million visitors annually from around the world; with so much to see and do, you won’t have trouble filling your itinerary.

Below are 15 of the best tours of Edinburgh.

1. Walking Tour of Historic Old Town

Old Town Historical Walking Tour

If you like exploring historic icons, getting some fresh air and stretching your legs, this walking tour of the city’s historic Old Town district is a great way to kick off your Edinburgh adventure.

Your guide will lead you to places where buses and taxis can’t go and you’ll get a professional narration about the historical significance of the things you’re seeing.

The tour lasts about 90 minutes and will give first-time visitors a great overview of the city.

Unfortunately, it isn’t open to children younger than five. Remember to dress appropriately, as Scotland is noted for its cool, windy, and often rainy weather.

2. Ghostly Underground Vaults Tour

Ghostly Underground Vaults Tour

With a history dating back countless centuries, it’s no wonder that Edinburgh is home to more than a few eerie tales. On this tour of its underground vaults, you’ll learn about them in the creepiest place of all.

The city’s vaults are one of its most popular attractions. This quick 75-minute tour will get you and your companions up close and personal with these macabre relics.

The tours are given during the day because otherwise, it’d be entirely too spooky.

The vault’s history is an amazing slice of Edinburgh; though they started out as storage areas, they became residences in the 17th century for the poorest of the city’s inhabitants.

3. Loch Ness, Glencoe and Highlands Tour from Edinburgh

Loch Ness

Whether you believe in the legend of the Loch Ness Monster or not, this packed combo-tour is an excellent way to combine three of the area’s most popular attractions into one convenient tour.

It’s a full-day excursion which will lead you through some of the country’s most beautiful scenery, and it starts and ends in Edinburgh.

Highlights include the majestic Stirling Castle, perched atop a rocky precipice and the one-time home of much of Scotland’s royalty.

Views of the vast Highland plains, Loch Ness and Loch Linnhe are included, as is a lunch stop in Ft. William where you’ll enjoy some hearty, traditional fare.

4. Skip-the-Line Ticket and Guided Tour of Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle

This Edinburgh Castle ticket and guided tour combo allows guests to skip the lines like VIPs, which can save a lot of time if you’re visiting on a busy day.

The 1 ½ -hour tour includes unrestricted views of the surrounding city from the castle’s heights. Your guide will give you an amazing overview of the castle’s history, much of which is treacherous and bloody.

Despite its age, you’ll hear many accounts of the lives of the people who lived behind the castle walls, from royalty and soldiers to common laborers.

It’s an iconic slice of Scottish history that you won’t want to miss.

5. Harry Potter Walking Tour

Edinburgh: Harry Potter Walking Tour

Harry Potter is big business and a recognizable icon the world over. For fans of all things Harry, this two-hour walking tour is one that you won’t want to miss.

Author J.K. Rowling purportedly wrote much of the Harry Potter books in Edinburgh, so for those aspiring authors out there, this tour may provide some motivation.

Tour stops include many city sites that inspired the author to create her unforgettable characters and their dwellings.

High Street, Lord Voldemort’s tomb, and Hogwarts School are all included; you’ll learn how Edinburgh’s real history played a role in the story’s themes and setting.

6. 1-Hour Edinburgh Vaults Tour

Edinburgh 60-Minute Vaults Tour

Edinburgh’s vaults are one of the city’s most eerie sites, and if you’d like to see them in a rather quick tour, then this 60-minute option is perfect.

Along with your guide, you’ll descend below the city streets into this subterranean labyrinth of narrow passageways that in centuries past was the realm of the city’s poorest down-and-outers.

According to local lore, the vaults are haunted; when you hear stories about some of the inhabitants, you’ll believe it.

The candlelight reflecting off the dripping stone walls will drop your blood temperature a degree or two, and the tour’s short length will leave plenty of time for other adventures.

7. Loch Ness and the Highlands with Hotel Pick-Up from Edinburgh

Loch Ness & The Highlands

This full-day tour includes pickup and drop-off to and from your Edinburgh hotel and stops at two of the region’s most unforgettable attractions.

Though the tour lasts nearly 12 hours, you’ll get a great value for your hard-earned buck.

The tour includes views of the monument built to commemorate William Wallace’s contribution to Scotland, and Stirling Castle as well.

From there you’ll visit the Highlands, the Pass at Glencoe, Loch Leven and Loch Ness.

Guests will have a chance to relax on the shores of Loch Ness, and stops for coffee and lunch are scheduled as well, though their cost isn’t included.

8. Edinburgh’s Darker Side Walking Tour

Edinburgh Walking Tour: The Dark Side

If you’re up for meeting the restless souls of some of the city’s most unforgettable long-dead characters, then this fun and spooky walking tour would be a great way to spend a few hours.

Tales of cannibals, grave robbers, unsolved murders, public witch burnings and corpse snatchings are just a few of the somber tales you’ll hear along the way, but be prepared for your fair share of laughs too.

The two-hour tour brings the past to life like few others and is available in English, German and Spanish.

Refreshments are not included, and remember to dress for the weather.

9. Royal Yacht Britannia Ticket and Audio Guide

Royal Yacht Britannia

For much of its life – spanning nearly a half a century – The Royal Yacht Britannia carried the English Royal Family to all corners of the world. Many of the distant lands it visited were part of the country’s vast colonial empire.

The luxurious yacht is now moored in Edinburgh’s Port of Leith.

The cost of admission includes an audio guide available in dozens of languages; it’ll give you a fascinating narration as you stroll among the yacht’s exhibits.

Most of what you’ll see is original, and highlights include the royal bedrooms, sun deck, and the impressive engine room.

There’s a quaint café on board as well if you’d like to stop for some tea, coffee, or a fresh scone.

10. History of Whisky and Sampling Tour

Edinburgh: History Of Whisky Tour And Whisky Tasting

Unless you’ve sworn off drinking, you’d be remiss to forgo a foray into the history of Scotland’s whiskey.

Scotch and Scottish whiskey are famous the world over, and for those interested in sampling some of the divine nectar, learning how it’s made, and understanding just how important it is, this tour is a must.

Tastings at four of the city’s most noted distilleries are included. You’ll learn the finer points of tasting the offerings, each of which has surprisingly unique characteristics that you may not otherwise notice or appreciate.

It’s best not to show up on an empty stomach and is a must for budding whiskey enthusiasts.

11. 4-Hour Pub Crawl with Drinks Specials

Pub Crawl

Edinburgh comes alive at night with drink-filled revelers of all stripes.

Its pubs, restaurants, and clubs are great places to meet locals and like-minded travelers, and for those up for a four-hour pub crawl, this tour would be a great choice.

Guided by your nightlife savvy local guide, you’ll hit many pubs that are off the beaten path.

From chic and contemporary to grungy and seedy, you’ll hit a sampling of the city’s watering holes and have a great time along the way.

The four hours will fly by, and at many of the stops, you and your companions will get free or reduced priced drinks.

12. Walking Tour of Old Town Breweries with Tastings

Old Town Brewing Heritage Walking Tour

Just like whiskey, beer has been a staple of the Scottish diet and culture for centuries.

Many of Edinburgh’s breweries have been brewing for many hundreds of years and are national icons.

This tour kicks off from The Royal Mile. You’ll get a thorough overview of the industry that includes well-kept secret recipes, marketing campaigns, advertising and expansion from local brands to national and international ones.

Your guide will explain the subtle nuances that make each beer unique, and you’ll really gain an appreciation of what makes beer so good.

Tour size is limited to 12 to make sure guests get an intimate experience.

13. Edinburgh Ghost Bus Tour

Ghost Bus Tour

Part comedy and part ghost tour, this one-hour bus tour of Edinburgh’s dark side is a great way to learn a little history, see some amazing sights, and have a few laughs too.

You and your companions will be conveyed by a refurbished double-decker bus, during which your guide will keep you engaged with a running narration explaining the things you’re seeing.

Tales of murder, mayhem, plague, and executions will be included. The tour hits some of the city’s most noted areas, like Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, and Greyfriars Kirk.

Please note that food and drinks other than water aren’t allowed on the bus.

14. Magical Highlands Tour by Steam Train

Magical Highlands Tour by Steam Train

For lovers of Harry Potter, this Edinburgh-based tour to the Magical Highlands is one that shouldn’t be missed.

The tour’s mode of transportation is a steam train, which gives it a unique feel that harkens back to a different era.

You’ll pass a few of the locations that were used when filming the movies, and you’ll get glimpses of Rannoch Moor, Fort William, and stop at the West Highland Railway Museum as well.

It’s a long tour at 13 hours, but it’ll probably be one of your vacation standouts.

Gratuities, lunch, and transportation to and from your hotel aren’t included.

15. Full-Day Scottish Highlands Tour

Scottish Highlands

Scotland’s Highlands are some of the most expansive, lush, and green swatches of fields, forests, glens and rivers that you’re ever likely to see.

They are one of the country’s national treasures and home to Stirling Castle and the William Wallace Monument.

A stop at The Trossachs National Park is included as well, which is the former home of one of the country’s most famous and romanticized cattle thieves – Rob Roy.

Visits to a local loch, whiskey distillery, and majestic cathedral are also featured.

The tour usually lasts about nine hours; food and drink aren’t included.

Outlander Star Sam Heughan Has a Pitch for Taylor Swift: Let’s Fall In Love

edinburgh recommended tours

By Kase Wickman

Taylor Swift will have an especially adoring fan with a plan at one of her performances in Scotland this weekend. Travis Kelce better watch out: Sam Heughan has his sights set on stealing a play from Kelce's own book— and maybe his girlfriend, Swift, in the process too.

In a clip posted to his Instagram account Wednesday, Outlander star Heughan revealed that he and many castmates plan to go together to see Swift perform during her Eras Tour’s upcoming three-night stand in Edinburgh, Scotland from June 7 to June 9. He also revealed that he has a plan to present to Swift for her careful consideration: What if instead of dating Kelce, she paired off with “a man in a ginger wig”—specifically, Heughan—instead.

Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

“She obviously doesn’t know this, but when she comes to Scotland and she sees me in the audience, she’s gonna forget all about,” Heughan pauses significantly here, “ him and fall for a man in a ginger wig. How could she resist?”

Heughan, aforementioned wig upon his head, certainly couldn’t resist dropping a Swiftian reference, continuing, “You know, she’s gonna shake him off and take me out instead. I’m really excited.”

He then flashed Swift’s signature heart-hands gesture, which he repeated in emoji form in the post’s caption.

“Welcome to Scotland Taylor! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿” he wrote. “JAMMF is a Swiftie 🫶”

For those not in the Scottish time travel know, that would be Heughan’s character, James “Jamie” Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser. Somehow the couple name “Taymie” just doesn’t have that ring to it, we have to say.

But lest we dash Heughan's dreams, just remember: A man named Travis Kelce showed up at an Eras Tour date less than a year ago with a friendship bracelet and a dream, and look at him now .

A representative for Taylor Swift did not immediately return Vanity Fair 's request for comment.

Edinburgh's best fish and chips shops ahead of taylor swift's eras tour.

With Taylor Swift's Edinburgh concerts finally just about here, fans far and wide will be flocking to the Scottish capital.

Swift will perform three nights in a row at the city's Murrayfield Stadium as part of her record-breaking Eras Tour. Hundreds of thousands of 'Swifties' from across Scotland and beyond are set to see the superstar between Friday and Sunday.

Whether you are heading to Edinburgh for the first time or live there and are just looking for a way to honour the occasion, there is no better way to celebrate Swift's appearance in the city than a fish supper either before or after the show.

The Scottish Daily Express has rounded up some of the top fish and chip spots across Edinburgh to head to this weekend during Taylor Swift's three-night Eras Tour residency.

Bertie's Proper Fish and Chips, Victoria Street

With an average rating of 4.5 out of five based on 4,800 reviews, Bertie's Proper Fish and Chips comes highly recommended. Offering both sit-in and takeaway options, this stylish eatery even has a children's menu for younger Swifties.

What one customer said: "Ordered haddock and chips which were absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere and located just a few hundred yards from Edinburgh Castle. Really friendly and helpful staff."

The Chippy by Spencer, Broughton Street

The Chippy by Spencer, tucked away on Broughton Street, declares itself as the "the best Fish & Chips in the New Town". Looking at recent reviews, and its average rating of 4.7 out of five based on 253 scores, it is hard to argue with that bold claim.

What one customer said: "We were greeted by a very friendly man when we walked in and our order was taken and ready within six min. The place was spotless, the staff very friendly and the fish and chips were so fresh and good."

Lothian Fish and Chips, Lothian Road

This chippy is conveniently situated en-route to Murrayfield, so you may have to do a bit of queueing if heading there on your way to or from the Eras Tour. With an average score of 4.4 out of five based on 395 reviews, though, it will no doubt be worth the wait.

What one customer said: "Best chippy in Scotland, as far as I'm concerned. The owners and staff are not only kind, but generous. I will definitely revisit if ever in Edinburgh."

The Gorgie Fish Bar, Gorgie Road

Like Lothian Fish and Chips, The Gorgie Fish Bar is not far from Murrayfield — so expect it to be a popular choice this weekend. However, the chippy has an average rating of 4.5 out of five based on 521 reviews, so you are unlikely to regret waiting around for your food.

What one customer said: "Best chippy in Edinburgh! Grew up near here 20 years ago and loved it then, came back on a visit home and it's still excellent."

Chipsy Kings, Rose Street

Finally, we come to Chipsy Kings on Rose Street — which has an average score of 4.6 out of five based on 225 reviews. While it is admittedly a bit out of the way if you are heading to Murrayfield, the high praise it has received from customers might convince you it is worth the detour.

What one customer said: "Had a midnight fish and chips crave and ended up here. Worth the money! Delicious."
