VIP Lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo

Visit the new VIP Lounge at the Palma Airport

Avatar

The airport of Palma de Mallorca has a new VIP lounge that you can visit before your departure. The Sala VIP Mediterráneo Lounge in Module C is newly renovated. We visited the lounge in December 2021 and tell you our impressions.

Access to the VIP Lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo

You have access to the airport lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo with:

  • Priority Pass * ( either directly or via an Amex Platinum credit card )
  • Lufthansa / Swiss / Edelweiss Business Class Ticket
  • Star Alliance Gold Status
  • Oneworld Sapphire, Smaragd Status
  • British Airways, Iberia, S7 Business Class Ticket
  • International flight with Air Europa
  • Buy access for 34,90€ per adult , 16,05€ per child ( up to 10 years )

Location of the lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo

The VIP lounge is located at the end of Module C in the area of the former Duty Free Shop behind the Mc Donalds. Currently, the lounge is still listed as closed in Google. In December 2021, however, all lounges except this newly renovated one were closed. The way to the lounge is also well described via direction signs.

[su_gmap width=”300″ height=”200″ address=”GPXP+PG Palma , Spanien” title=”Lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo”]

VIP Lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo equipment

The lounge is divided into 4 large areas. In these you will find comfortable seating and tables. In addition, there is a separate glassed-in conference area. The lounge is located on Level 1 and is new. This is also reflected in the sanitary facilities. Further, there is a large window in the lounge facing the apron. Compared to the other lounges in B and D, this is a definite advantage. At the time of our visit ( 12/20/2021 ), the lounge was about half full.

Food + Drink in the Lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo

As in all other lounges at Palma Airport, the Mediterráneo Lounge offers you a wide range of food and drinks. Against the background of the Corona situation, the offer is presented behind plexiglass. After your order, the food and drinks will be brought to your seat. You can choose between different snacks, tapas, sandwiches and desserts. The quality is ok – but you should not expect too much here. Especially Asian travelers will be disappointed.

The TFL conclusion about the Lounge Sala VIP Mediterráneo

The location, the daylight and the modern, new furnishings speak for the Sala VIP Mediterráneo Lounge. This is where it scores over the previous lounges.

You should not expect too much from the food. The staff is friendly and helpful. The offer is especially worthwhile for owners of a Priority Pass or a corresponding flight ticket that entitles you to access. Buying access for EUR 35.00 in isolation is too expensive.

Regardless of this, those who want to bridge their waiting time for the departure flight will find a good alternative here.

At first glance, the SWISS Business Class Lounge appears to be quite inviting, but then loses out significantly against the background of the points described above. Hi, I wanted to ask advice on the VIP Airport Lounge at Palma Airport and where they are. On the website they refer to Module's so not sure what or where that is.

We are flying with easyjet back to the UK and plan to purchase the fastrack through security.

Thanks in Advance

frequent traveller lounge palma de mallorca

When you go through security (it’s never taken me more than a couple of mins to get through, not sure priority is worth it) and then go through the “duty free” area, you need to head downstairs, which is quite a hike.

The problem is that they’re not in the UK departure area, so you when you exit them, you need to go through passport control. Historically this has been slow, but now they have about 50 electronic machines it was very quick when I last went through. But it’s still a hike to get to the UK departure area and then to your gate.

Thanks for this - i’m guessing we’ll just avoid the extra expense which doesn’t seem worth it. Thanks again.

IMO buying fast-track-security would be a waste of money, as would be buying the lounges.

Today at Palma at 11am the queue to enter security was zero - you just walked up to one of the many entry gates, scanned the boarding card and immediately started to put things into the trays for scanning. Very quick and easy, as was the scanning process.

Passport control's scanning was just as easy, walk up to one of the many machines and start the passport scan.

The long walks between each area took much longer than either security or passport control.

(And don't get caught out - it's a very long way between duty free shops area and the departure gates. We go to the departure gates area quite soon after security and don't waste time near duty free)

Instead of lounges, if you want a bit of a quieter area in departure-gates-area, then head towards the end furthest away from where you enter that final section.

Thanks for the feedback. I am probably so used to our local airport security being so long and with such a cramped airport you struggle to get a seat or get served drinks.

Don’t waste your money on fast track security unless it comes included with something else. Security in PMI airport has never taken me more than 10 mins (usually less than 5) and I use it a lot.

After security and duty free, pass through the food court and go down the escalator behind the Ensaimada shop on the left side. Double back to the right at the bottom of the escalator and the lounge is in front of you. It’s about a 5 minute walk from A gates passport control for people of average mobility. Depending on the gate number, allow up to another 5 mins to get to the gate after passport control.

During winter (Nov-Mar), the UK/Ireland flights move to either C or D gates (it was historically D gates, but last winter was C). I’d expect C again this winter, but you never know. These have their own lounges, Mediterraneo in C gates and Formerntor in D. Both are fairly close to the respective passport controls.

All the lounges are operated by airport operator AENA, and have similar provision. Valldemossa is a bit older in decor, though I understand it will close for renovation over the winter. The others are new or renovated. As to whether they are good value, that’s a personal thing. I often use them when lounge access is included with my flight , not sure I would pay though the food and drink is decent enough. I generally only pay for lounges when I need to work, have a shower, or have a long layover, and those rarely happen in Palma (no showers anyway).

Is it worth paying for Lounge access at Palma Airport? I know we’ll be flying from module/gate A.

I would say yes definitely. We flew back in March and booked in the Mediterráneo lounge. We were very impressed with everything about it. Good choice of food and drinks, nice spacious lounge to sit also comfier sofas etc. Immaculately clean. 10/10 and would book again without hesitation.

I haven’t directly paid for lounges as I usually access them via status or by travelling business class so I can’t comment on whether they’re worth the money. Also I don’t drink alcohol so I’m unlikely to get my money’s worth!

I’ve used The Valldemossa lounge which is very modern and well laid out. Food is reasonable but overall not a patch on lounges I’ve used at Heathrow.

The Llevant lounge is a bit dated and gets quite noisy. I find it a bit basic. Again, the food’s ok but I wouldn’t pay for it. A good variety though.

Very helpful thank you

frequent traveller lounge palma de mallorca

Depends what you’re paying really. All 4 of the lounges are operated by the airport, so the food and drink provision is pretty much identical in all.

As mentioned above, Llevant has more dated decor than the others (which all have the same bright white modern decor), and Llevant is the lounge in concourse A. I’m assuming Llevant has now reopened, it was closed for much of the pandemic. If it’s closed, Valldemossa is the closest of the others to A gates, but it’s before departure passport control, which has had longer queues post-Brexit, so allow enough time if you use it. If the eGates are back in action on departure, those queues may not be an issue.

I would disagree that the food is worse than BA’s normal business class lounges (Galleries Club) at LHR. Personally I think the range and quality is better than. BA, and on my last PMI lounge visit a few days ago (Formentor in D gates), I thought it had even improved further. Plenty of hot and cold options. If lounge alcohol is your thing, the quality of wine and spirits on offer at PMI isn’t that great. Beer is ok.

On my most recent trips business class/status passengers entitled to use Llevant weren’t permitted to use Valldemossa and were redirected (pleasantly but firmly).

<< On my most recent trips business class/status passengers entitled to use Llevant weren’t permitted to use Valldemossa and were redirected (pleasantly but firmly). >>

Interesting, thanks. Must be fairly recent, I’ve never been turned away from any of lounges based on my departure gate, though occasionally Valldemossa has had capacity restriction signs up, along with the odd helpful warning that there was another lounge closer to my gate.

TBH, if I knew that Llevant were definitely open, despite its dated look I would use it when flying from A, unless I were with someone who was flying from a Schengen gate. Not really sure how many people would use Valldemossa otherwise, B gates aren’t big lounge territory and most people flying from C and D would use lounges there, if they were aware of them.

OP - back to your question about value, if price were the advertised approx €35 pp, I wouldn’t pay that, better value at the terminal bars and restaurants unless you were planning a long visit. At around €20-25 per person it might be worthy of consideration as they are reasonable quality 3rd party lounges, but that’s very much a personal decision and I’ve never actually had to pay for lounge access at PMI.

“ Must be fairly recent”

It was the end of April and again in May.

Advise please. I will be flying home from palma airport next June. How do I know which lounge to pre book? I want to get through all the relevant stuff ie passport control etc then just stay in the lounge until boarding. Nervous passenger so the lounge is a must when I travel. Thank you.
