Why Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Haven’t Been Seen Together for a Month

The last outing they had was in Lake Como, Italy, and for very understandable reasons.

They parted ways at the end of the week, with Swift beginning her Stockholm, Sweden, shows on Friday, May 17, and Kelce hosting his music festival, Kelce Jam, in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday, May 18. The couple hasn’t been seen together since.

Kelce has had different work commitments throughout his NFL offseason, some connected to football and others linked to his burgeoning acting career. Swift, of course, has been playing her tour dates across Europe.

A source told Us Weekly on May 23 though that Kelce really does intend to see Swift when he can. “He wants to support her as much as he can while he can, so he’s going to [go] back and forth from the U.S. to Europe while he has the time,” the source said.

Below, a breakdown of where the couple has been since their Italy vacation and why their schedules haven’t intersected. Note that Swift has been able to spend her breaks between shows largely out of the public eye.

May 17–19: Swift in Stockholm, Kelce in Kansas City

Paparazzi photos started coming out of Swift and Kelce’s Lake Como trip around this time.

Following the couple’s Italian vacation, Swift played in Stockholm for three days from May 17 to May 19. Swift was on Kelce’s mind though during Kelce Jam on May 18. He shared a little about the hosting advice she gave him to E! : “[She said,] ‘Go out and have fun.’ She wishes she was here, I know that, but she’s got a lot of people she’s performing for.”

Kelce finished filming Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series Grotesquerie before Swift’s next tour dates. A source told Us Weekly on May 23 that the Chiefs player was done with his big acting debut: “Travis had an incredible time filming . He had fun doing it.”

Kelce traveled from Kansas City to Dallas while Swift did her weekend shows in Lisbon , Portugal. Kelce and Mahomes were photographed at the Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game on May 26.

Following her shows, Swift took a well-deserved break from the spotlight and kept a low profile until her next concert in Madrid.

Swift did two midweek shows in Madrid, Spain, while Kelce participated in a voluntary Chiefs organized team activity in Kansas City on May 30.

Swift made a visit to London between her Madrid and Lyon, France, shows to see her friend Cara Delevingne perform in Cabaret on May 31. Delevingne later shared a photo of Swift backstage with her. Swift was in a Stella McCartney sweater:.

Kelce had a big Friday too, traveling to Washington, D.C. with the Chiefs to meet President Joe Biden. The team celebrated their Super Bowl win at the White House.

On June 1, Kelce was back in Kansas City, performing at the 2024 Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City. He dodged a Taylor Swift engagement question during a comedy sketch where Jason Sudeikis asked, while in character, when Kelce planned to make an “honest woman” out of Swift. Kelce just smiled and scratched his beard in response.

A few weeks earlier on May 21, a source told Us Weekly that Kelce was just enjoying the current moment with Swift. “Travis has no plans on proposing to Taylor anytime soon,” the source said. “It’s not even on his radar. Marriage is something he takes very seriously and not something he would ever just jump into without giving it some careful consideration.”

After an eventful three days for Kelce, the Chiefs player spent his Sunday and Monday out of the spotlight. Swift, meanwhile, did her two last shows in France, playing in Lyon . She notably sang “Fifteen” during the first night. Fans filmed her smiling in reaction to the song’s football lyric, “But in your life, you’ll do things greater than / Dating the boy on the football team / But I didn’t know it at 15.”

Swift managed to stay out of the spotlight after her Lyon shows ended. She kicked off her tour’s U.K. leg on June 7, performing in Edinburgh, Scotland, for three nights .

Meanwhile, Kelce spent June 8 in Eastlake, Ohio. He played in the David Njoku Celebrity Softball Game and won the home run derby trophy with 11 home runs.

Swift will play her Liverpool shows starting on June 13. But in between those tour dates, the singer traveled back to London, where she was photographed having a girls’ night out with Kate Moss, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Cara Delevingne, and Lena Dunham among others, the Daily Mail reported. The outlet ran a photo of Swift out in a gray blazer, black corset top, and dark pants.

Meanwhile, Kelce spent June 11 in Kansas City at a mandatory Chiefs minicamp. He dodged a Taylor Swift question during a post-practice press conference. A reporter asked what dish he and Swift most like to cook together. Kelce replied, via Entertainment Tonight , “That’s a good question. I’ll keep the answer to myself, but I thoroughly enjoy cooking with her. I’d rather keep it personal.” He told reporters later, “Taylor makes a great Pop-Tart and cinnamon roll.”

Kelce missed Swift’s milestone 100th Eras Tour show , which she played in Liverpool on June 13. It was her first of three concerts there.

The Chiefs player remained in Kansas City, where he attended the team’s Super Bowl ring ceremony on Thursday evening at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Swift joined an Instagram Live  that his teammate Mecole Hardman’s partner, Chariah Gordon, shared of the event. She commented her support of Kelce, saying she was joining late from Liverpool, which is six hours ahead. It marks her most public tribute to Kelce since their Lake Como trip.

Kelce has a work commitment taking him back to Europe very soon, actually. Page Six reported that on June 20, he and his brother, Jason, will be recording an episode of New Heights during the Cannes Lion International Festival of Creativity in France.

Swift is on break from her tour that day, meaning she could join him in Cannes. He could also join her in London the next day, where she will begin playing her Eras Tour shows in the city on June 21.

Taylor Swift is shaking things up — and lightning strikes every time she moves!

For the first time since the start of her global smash Eras Tour, Swift performed a song alone during her acoustic “surprise song” set not originally released under her name — the 2016 hit “This Is What You Came For” by Rihanna and Swift’s ex Calvin Harris .

“Every single time I have an acoustic set, I’m always trying to think of things you might want to hear — maybe things that might be a little bit unexpected,” the pop superstar told the crowd . “Let’s see how we did tonight.”

On the record-breaking Eras Tour, Swift keeps fans on the end of their seat throughout the first three hours of her career-spanning setlist — leaving a spot toward the end of the show for an always-changing pair of songs (often one on guitar and on piano), which fans have dubbed “surprise songs.”

During the guitar performance in Liverpool, she added lyrics from her 2020 song “Gold Rush.” To round out her acoustic set, she played a mashup of the Midnights bonus tracks “You’re Losing Me” and “The Great War” for the audience in Liverpool.

When “This Is What You Came For” was first released in April 2016 — while Swift and Harris were still an item — the songwriting was credited to Harris and the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg, but following the pair’s split that June , news broke that Swift had penned the track under the fake name.

“I wrote under the name Nils Sjöberg because those are two of the most popular names of Swedish males,” Swift later told Paul McCartney in an interview for Rolling Stone . “And nobody knew for a while. I remembered always hearing that when Prince wrote ‘Manic Monday,’ they didn’t reveal it for a couple of months."

The pseudonym appeared again in Swift’s music video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” adorning a headstone in a graveyard, where Swift played a zombified version of herself.

The 34-year-old singer has only played the song twice since it was first released eight years ago: In October 2016, she debuted the song on the piano at the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, and in February 2017, the “Cruel Summer” singer played the song again at a Super Saturday Night performance in Houston .

2016 was not the last time Swift faked out fans with false naming: On the songwriting credits her sister albums Folklore and Evermore as well as pop sensation Midnights , former beau Joe Alwyn took his songwriting credits under the pseudonym William Bowery . 

But during her Disney+ film Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions , she unveiled the mystery. "There's been a lot of discussion about William Bowery and his identity 'cause it's not a real person," she said. "William Bowery is Joe, as we know."

However, while critics love the release, it has reignited her apparent feud with former gal pal Taylor Swift . Despite previously serving as an opening act for the global superstar on her Reputation tour it seems there is no love lost for Charli when it comes to Taylor.

Now fans believe some cutting lyrics on one track on Charli's sixth studio album are aimed at Taylor as rumours of a feud between the pair roll on. In fact the dig is pretty vicious when it comes to throwing shade lyrically and is just the latest incident that makes it seem things are pretty frosty between the two performers.

The offending lyrics

Of all the tracks on Charli's album, one in particular has set tongues wagging as it appears to be a takedown of Taylor. The song in question is titled Sympathy Is A Knife and on it Charli sings: “Don’t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show, Fingers crossed behind my back, I hope they break up quick.”

Just to clarify the reason why everybody thinks the song is about Taylor is that Charli's fiancé George Daniel is a member of The1975. The very same band that Taylor's ex Matty Healy - who is referred to on her latest album The Tortured Poets Department - is the lead singer of.

George co-wrote a few tracks on Charli's album so the fuel for the fire is well and truly there, especially if they felt like sticking up for Matty over his brief fling with Taylor creating such a fuss. However, Charli has made a video where she claims BRAT has just one proper diss track on it - Von Dutch.

Charli's fans recently branded Taylor a "greedy capitalist" following the success of her album TTPD. Their anger was prompted when Charli's album debuted at number two in the charts, thanks to Taylor releasing a 'new' version of her album earlier this week.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter , fans criticised Taylor for being "obsessed with money/chart positions", accusing the singer of strategically releasing "mass versions" of her album which was originally released in April. One said: "Charli deserved the Number 1 spot. Brat is universally acclaimed. Charli is at the peak of her creativity & finally getting the flowers she’s long overdue. Taylor’s obsession with money/chart positions & her pattern of undercutting other women in the industry is embarrassing."

Another vented: "Taylor swift is greedy and the farthest thing from a feminist, at least Charli has talent." A third mused: "There is of course an irony that an album full of meditations on the push-pull relationship of the artist and their art to success was beaten to the #1 spot by an artist peddling the 304th edition of their album for another week atop the charts with no self-awareness."

Meanwhile, a fourth social media user seemed quite upset with the Americana star as they said: "This is the second time that woman tried to block other female artists in a month… it was fine if it's organic, but, no, she was purposely mass-releasing different versions to do it just nasty."

Post tour criticism

Back in 2019 after supporting Taylor on tour Charli took to social media to provide some clarification after an interesting comment she made angered Taylor's loyal followers. During an interview with Pitchfork Charli said that she was “grateful” for the experience of opening for Taylor at her live shows - but then made a seemingly snarky extra comment.

She quipped: “As an artist, it kind of felt like I was getting up on stage and waving to five-year-olds.” Charli then added that the whole experience had made her decide she wouldn't be opening for anyone again. Ouch.

Perhaps unsurprisingly the comments led to some angry Swifties questioning why Charli felt the need to complain about a once in a lifetime opportunity. One said: “Imagine having the honour of opening for Taylor Swift during a stadium tour and then complaining about her fans - do better.”

However other Taylor fans did point out that maybe she was right. One posted: “Could she have worded that better? Probably. Are people who love Taylor Swift music really her target audience? Probably not. She’s got her own sound & fans. Go kill it where you feel comfortable wishing you the best!”

Following the backlash over her comments Charli posted a note on Instagram where she stressed she had meant “no shade” and explained the remarks further. She shared: “Leading up to that tour I’d been playing a tonne of 18+ club shows and so to be on stage in front of all ages was new to me and made me approach my performance with a whole new kind of energy.”

O ne Taylor Swift fan looks like they'll be starting their brand new era after a sweet gesture at one of the superstar's Liverpool gigs.

The adorable moment a man proposed to his girlfriend was caught on camera and the scene couldn't have played out any better.

With Love Story playing live in the background, the man got down on one knee on Saturday to ask his beloved to marry him. The sweet gesture happened exactly when Taylor, 34, was singing the lyrics 'He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring' in her hit Love Story.

As the scene unfolds, the person filming is heard shrieking with excitement just before the female jumps into her man's arms, seemingly overjoyed with their new status. The clip was shared on Twitter /X, with many fans taking to the post to share congratulatory messages.

Among them, one user gushed: "Oh wow...this is so lovely. Taylor's concert is already connecting souls," while another said: "This song should be officially a global wedding theme." The official Specsavers account even got involved to joke: "Eyes are leaking."

It came as Taylor wrapped up her three-show Liverpool stay, which is part of her mammoth Eras World Tour.

Next up is Cardiff tomorrow (Tuesday, June 18). The show marks the only city on the superstar's 152-show tour that she will play just once . It is also her first headline show in Wales.
