Metallica Announces M72 World Tour 2023-2024

PRE-SALES BEGIN 9am LOCAL TIME NOVEMBER 30th

Today marks the announcement of every Metallica show booked through 2023 and 2024: Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, Metallica’s M72 world tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits—with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Two-day tickets will be on sale Friday, December 2 nd at ticketmaster.com and will include the option of pre-ordering 72 Seasons vinyl and/or CD. A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band’s All Within My Hands foundation . Founded in 2017, AWMH’s efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million – providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.

Metallica Announce World Tour Dates With Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch + More

Metallica have just announced a giant run of world tour dates for 2023 and 2024. The band will play two shows in each city they visit (four shows in Mexico City) with different opening acts on Night 1 and Night 2.

In Europe, Night 1 opening acts will be Architects and Mammoth WVH , while Night 2 will feature Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills . In North America, Night 1 will feature Pantera and Mammoth WVH, while Night 2 will boast Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills.

Metallica also just announced their 12th studio album,  72 Seasons,  and debuted the old-school sounding song, "Lux Aeterna." The 12-track, 77-minute album, produced by Greg Feldman,  James Hetfield  and  Lars Ulrich , is set to arrive on April 14, 2023, and serves as the successor to 2016's  Hardwired... To Self-Destruct .

Metallica, Pantera and Mammoth WVH Set 2023-24 ‘M72′ Tour Dates

Metallica 's massive 2023-2024 world tour will feature support from Pantera , Mammoth WVH , Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills .

The M72 tour, named after Metallica's newly announced 72 Seasons album, finds the group playing two separate shows in each city without repeating any songs or opening acts. For most North American cities, Pantera and Mammoth WVH will open the first show, with Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills appearing on the second night. Architects take over for Pantera on most European dates.

Metallica will be performing in the round on a newly designed set that relocates the band's fan-filled "snake pit" to the center of the stage. Two-day tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 2 through Ticketmaster , with single-day tickets available starting Jan. 20.

These are the first U.S. dates announced for Pantera's new lineup , which finds surviving classic-era members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown joined by Ozzy Osbourne / Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante. Pantera performs their first show on Dec. 2 in Texicoco, Mexico as part of the Hell & Heaven Open Air festival.

Metallica have announced the “M72 World Tour,” a massive global trek that will see the legendary metal band play stadiums across North America and Europe throughout 2023 and 2024. The tour comes in support of the band’s upcoming album, 72 Seasons , which will be released on April 14th, 2023.

The “M72 World Tour” will see Metallica playing two nights in every city on their tour docket, with the promise of completely different setlists and support lineups. The rotating cast of opening acts include Pantera , Mammoth WVH, Greta Van Fleet, Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Architects, and Ice Nine Kills. Additionally, the tour will feature a new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage.

Metallica announces world tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera & more

Metallica has announced world tours for 2023 and 2024, after announcing the new album. The band will play two nights in each city they visit with two different setlists, as well as two different support bands.

These include Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera, Ice Nine Kills, Mammoth WVH, Greta Van Fleet, Architects and Volbeat.

A portion of the profits will go to the charity All Within My Hands Foundation. Tickets available here .

Yesterday (August 4th),  Metallica  launched the U.S. leg of their  M72 World Tour  with the first of two headlining sets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The trek features "No Repeat Weekend" performances in each city, which means that fans who attend both Jersey shows (the second goes down Sunday, August 6th) will get a completely different setlist.

Each night also boasts a different roster of support acts, with yesterday's show being opened by Wolfgang Van Halen's band Mammoth WVH. Playing next — in direct support to Metallica — was the mighty Pantera, making for an unfuckwithable one-two punch for die-hard metalheads. (Ice Nine Kills and Five Finger Death Punch will open Sunday's concert.)

When finally, around 8:45, the headliners went on, they kicked off with "Creeping Death," a great beginning to a 16-song set packed with fan favorites and classic cuts as well as a handful of standouts off Metallica's latest LP, this year's 72 Seasons , including the live debut of "Shadows Follow."

The performance wasn't without its hiccups — Kirk Hammett notably flubbed the intro to "Nothing Else Matters" and had to start the song over. But it was a minor misstep in an otherwise triumphant U.S. tour kickoff.

Metallica is still promoting their latest album 72 Seasons , which was released a year ago. The set continues to churn out hits, even after several singles have reached the highest of highs on a handful of Billboard charts.

One of the project’s earlier singles is finally earning its due and climbing to new heights on the weekly rankings. As it continues to ascend, the band may be headed for another No. 1 hit… one which could help them make history.

“Screaming Suicide” was released as the second single from 72 Seasons back in January 2023. Somehow, the tune is only now hitting new peaks, as it’s still working its way up two of Billboard’s radio lists. The track is performing better than ever this time around, in fact.

Metallica’s single is up to a new high of No. 4 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart this week. The tune lifts just one space this time around on the ranking of the top-performing titles at radio stations throughout the U.S. that play “mainstream” rock, which typically leans harder–though not exclusively.

Based on its trajectory, it looks like “Screaming Suicide” stands a good chance at becoming another No. 1 single for Metallica on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. If the tune is able to force its way to the summit, it will mark a very special win for the legendary rock band.

Currently, Metallica claims a lucky 13 No. 1s on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. They’re tied with Van Halen for the fifth-most of all time.

If “Screaming Suicide” does make its way to No. 1, Metallica will break their tie with Van Halen and match with two other beloved figures in the rock world. A fourteenth champion would put Metallica on the same level as both the Foo Fighters and Five Finger Death Punch.

Shinedown claims the most No. 1 songs ever on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. That band has earned 19 winners on the ranking. Three Days Grace comes next, with 17.

Next week, the Mainstream Rock Airplay ranking will be owned by Beartooth, according to early reports from Billboard . Their single “I Was Alive” will step up from No. 2 to the peak position, earning the group their second ruler. After that, Metallica could make a play for the throne… which they’re surely aiming for.
