It would be fair to say that Funasia may not be at all what you would expect to find in the heart of Texas! As the name suggests, this is a little piece of Asia, South Asia to be exact. Funasia is a movie theater that is dedicated to showing Indian movies and other South Asian films. The center was started by the large South Asian community in Richardson, and many of the films here are romping and colorful Bollywood classics. If you are worried about things being lost in translation there is no need to worry, as the vast majority of screenings here have English subtitles so that you can keep up with the plot. There are also other community events held at the center regularly so keep an eye on local listings to see what’s happening when you are in town.

5. Prairie Creek Park

For those who enjoy photography, Prairie Creek Park is the place to come. Measuring in at close to 40 acres, it may not be the largest park in town, but it is known for its scenic landscapes and colorful displays of flowers and plants. 6. Heights Family Aquatic Center

9. Richardson Farmers Market

10. Four Bullets Brewery

Said to be the first microbrewery in Richardson, Four Bullets Brewery is named after a hand of four aces in poker. The brewery makes all its beers on site and patrons can taste as range of these ales as part of a tour of the facility. You can visit the taproom here and get a guided tour by a friendly volunteer who will explain all about the brewing process and the different blends available. There is also food available to pair with your beer in the form of rotating food trucks that park outside the brewery and there are picnic tables so that you can fully enjoy the party atmosphere.

11. Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts

For some culture in Richardson, look no further than the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts. The 2024 Travelers Championship field is set with the passing of the PGA Tour tournament entry deadline . This week's PGA Tour field is set for this FedEx Cup event, played at TPC River Highlands near Hartford, Connecticut, from June 20-23, 2024.

The Travelers Championship field is headlined by the likes of Rory McIlroy , Scottie Scheffler , Xander Schauffele and more.

This is set to be a 72-player field is played out over four days, with this event marking the 28th tournament of the 2024 PGA Tour schedule .

The tournament is being played in its originally intended slot, with the PGA Tour heading to Connecticut to complete the sandwich of two Signature events as bread to the US Open.

We do not have Monday qualifiers for this event, which will be played Thursday through Sunday.

The Travelers Championship alternate list does not exist. Only players who qualify for the event can play and will not be replaced in the tournament.

The field will be playing for a $20 million purse, with 44 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking among the top contenders.

Chicago Swifties join the international tour craze, flying to Europe to see Taylor Swift for less money

C HICAGO — Courtney Goodman admits she only became a Taylor Swift fan — or “Swiftie” — last summer when her 10-year-old daughter, Amelia, would sing along to the record-breaking singer-songwriter’s music every chance she could.

On Mother’s Day weekend, the 44-year-old from Roscoe Village jetted off with Amelia for a jam-packed 48 hours in Paris, culminating in the duo seeing Swift in concert for the first time.

The price tag: a total of $5,000, including the flights, hotel and concert tickets.

When she bought the tickets, her family said, “This is pretty crazy, Courtney,” she said.

“I said, ‘Yeah, it’s crazy, but why not?’ Let’s just do it.”

Perhaps even crazier, Goodman and Amelia are not alone.

As Swift kicked off the 51-night European leg of her international stadium tour in May, fans in the United States are living a Swiftie’s dream, flying halfway across the world for cheaper tickets to see the pop star.

Partly due to stricter rules on reselling and limits for markups above face value, tickets in Europe tend to be thousands of dollars cheaper than her sold-out North American shows. That means the total cost of flights, hotels and food, a trip to Europe could cost less than one ticket to a Swift concert in the United States.

Take a trip to an Amsterdam concert, for example.

According to Expedia, a ticket to one of Swift’s three shows in July costs as low as $500, and a two-night air and hotel package in the city runs around $1,000.

In comparison, as of June 14, the cheapest nosebleed seats to one of Swift’s concerts in Indianapolis this November are going for more than $2,000 on resale sites.

Goodman’s Paris concert tickets were $1,000 each, half the going rate for tickets to remaining U.S. shows, which resume in October.

The average ticket price for one of Swift’s U.S. shows last year was $1,088, coming in second only to Adele, who had an average ticket price of $1,243, according to CNBC.

However, there could be more pressure on the upcoming U.S. dates since last week, when Swift announced “The Eras Tour” would officially end in December. There are only 15 remaining shows in North America, six in the United States and nine in Canada.

In the U.S., Ticketmaster is under increased scrutiny over its handling of ticket distribution and clashes with artists and fans.

Most recently, the Justice Department sued the company and its owner, Live Nation, accusing them of holding an illegal monopoly over live events and unfairly pricing out fans.

But in many European countries, fans have benefited from tighter restrictions on scalpers and lower ticket demand, justifying fans such as Courtney and Amelia flying across the pond to see Swift perform.

Last year, Swift graced Chicago with three nights at Soldier Field , drawing thousands of Swifties to the Windy City. Months prior to the shows, fans spent hours affixed to their laptops to buy tickets in the stadium; some said they waited as long as eight hours as ticket sites crashed due to high demand.

A surge in visitors — and with it, economic revenue — followed Swift to Chicago, generating a record weekend for the city’s hotels. As many as 60,000 Swifties in town per night helped the city reach its hotel occupancy record, with nearly 97% of rooms occupied, according to data released last year by Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism organization.

Last summer, Melissa Sanchez, a legal assistant from Cicero, splurged on Eras tour tickets in Chicago, paying $5,500 for a seat in the sixth row alongside her cousin.

“We wanted to go, and we didn’t know if she was going to have more dates,” said Sanchez, 47.

When Swift’s European concert dates went on sale, Sanchez bought tickets for three shows: Stockholm, London and Dublin. All three of her European tickets combined cost less than her $5,500 ticket in Chicago, she said.

Three times as many Americans are traveling internationally for live concerts this summer compared to last year, according to a summer tour report by international online ticket marketplace StubHub.

Swift appears to be fueling the trend, with Stubhub calling Swift the most in-demand artist for the summer after coming off a record year as their highest-searched artist in 2023.

During her three-hour shows, Swift plays songs from all but one of her 11 studio albums, each divided into its own act — or “era” — complete with outfit changes and complex stage visuals.

The singer also chooses surprise songs at each show from her nearly two-decade career, with fans on social media guessing which ones she’ll play and creating online games to track almost every element of the show.

The slight variety in shows means hardcore fans try to go to multiple shows. Once Sanchez was in Stockholm for the three-night leg in May, she secured a last-minute ticket for a second night for only around $450.

Prescilla Malayter, 40, could not buy tickets for the Chicago concerts last year and the upcoming Indianapolis shows after she didn’t get a presale code, which gives fans first access to face-value tickets and VIP packages. Initially, her travel budget allowed for to attend a show in Canada, but after comparing high Canadian prices to cheaper ones in Europe, she set her sights on Stockholm.

Malayter, who lives in Munster, Indiana, had accumulated enough flight credit to cover the airfare for the trip. Sweden seemed to be the perfect destination to meet her two high school friends, who live in the Philippines and, like her, are huge Swifties.

Malayter spent $350 on her concert ticket and to her surprise, had a hard time selling an extra ticket after someone backed out of the trip, which, in her view demonstrated the dramatic difference in ticket demand, she said.

Even with the loss on the extra ticket, she said she spent hundreds of dollars less than if she’d waited for the Indianapolis show, a three-hour drive from her house.

“We Americans have such a warped sense of what’s affordable and anything under $1,000 can be justified” for a ticket in the United States, Malayter said.

With her trip costing a little over $1,000 total, not only did she save a lot of money, but Malayter said the cheaper tickets to the concert justified traveling to Europe for three days to see her friends, she said.

A new album released earlier this year also further ignited U.S.-based fans’ excitement for this summer’s international shows.

In April, hundreds flocked to downtown Chicago to scan a QR code mural plastered on a wall in River North that gave clues about Swift’s 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which was released later that month. In Paris, Goodman said she and her daughter were among the first audiences to hear several of Swift’s new songs live.

Swifties have also found a surprising community with other U.S. fans traveling to European shows.

Sanchez, who became a Swiftie in 2012 after the release of “Red” is part of a Facebook group that swapped tips and tickets as they planned to travel to Swift’s shows in Sweden. Her flight home to Chicago included almost 50 people who had traveled to “The Eras Tour,” she said.

After returning from the show in Paris, Courtney Goodman said she told her family about her “epic” experience at the concert. Now, everyone wants in.

“We’re going to try,” she said of attending another show in one of two cities in Germany later this summer. “I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but we’re going to try.”

6/13/2014我刚刚从欧洲参加世纪游轮公司的欧洲13日团回来，30年来没有参加过华人的行程，看看他们的巴士团就参加了一路上面42个人全部都非常的不满意，有一点被坑的感觉，行前说的跟后面看得都不一样，他们是怎么省钱？就怎么干。中间巴士连还坏掉？换了三次车。路上还修车！担误大家的时间。车好旧。连没有冷气三天车里面90度都不肯换80被客人闹得不得了，这个旅游公司非常的糟糕，在这边可以发表警告，所有的华人参加旅游团要非常的小心。勿必小心！别花钱买罪受。回来很多人走的太辛苦。很多人生病。

This is the worst travel agency ever, I should check the previous reviews before joining their tour. They are not professional in the travel industry and rude to customers. 1. They don't have own bus or tour guide as advertised, they have NONE. They just "Sell" you to the local tour guide and partner with them to SCAM you. 2. The local tour guide is lack of professionalism either. He had full of dirty words in his mouth and didn't respect tourists from US! He didn't bring tour guide license with him for the entire trip (suspect if he has one). He didn't do his tour guide job at all. Do NOT expect him will escort you around a site, give information about the history, purpose and architecture of a site. Do NOT expect he will accompany you on day tours to a number of places of interest and answer questions and suggest other places to visit. He　let you explore the sites all by yourself, didn't care if you are new to the area. There were lots of tour members got lost in the city, he threatened none of them could mention the incident instead of making an apology. His main job was to SCAM you!! Be prepared to pay triple priced or even higher attraction tickets and group meals he arranged. The information he gave you was to show off how rich he was, how much money he earned from stupid tourists from China mainland before pandemic. He requested you to call him "Boss" not tour guide and kept washing your mind to spend money and join his group meals and add on activities. The tour leader from travel agency will HELP to persuade you to join. For the $230 tips per person, this tour guide is totally ridiculous and unacceptable!! 3. More and more tourists were getting Covid-19 during the trip. Both the travel leader from the agency and the local guide didn't take any actions to protect rest tour members. Instead, they were hiding the truth and requested infected tourists not to tell others. In the end, almost entire group got Covid-19 from this trip. 4. Before we paid for the trip, the staff in the office told the tour time for the museum will be 3 hours. In fact, we only had 1 hour inside the museum for paying 40 euros ticket per person. They shortened the museum time so that the tour guide was able to add on pricy group meal and activities again which were originally not on the itinerary. 5. Don't believe the optional activities are "optional". You were FORCED to join their pricy activities, otherwise you are violating their rules. 6. They partnered with low end cruise company and "customized" the services for you. The experience was far below the standard, better you book directly with the cruise company. Stay away from this company unless you want to be scammed, get Covid-19 and ruin your vacation. This company is not a trustworthy business in the travel industry.

Complete and total lack of professionalism! Maggie from their marketing department is the worst at communicating. She hardly ever responds to messages, literally had to send multiple emails just to get a response. Forget booking with them if your Chinese isn't perfect. They will judge you and look down on you.

I don't recommend this travel agency- Grand Century Cruises, they were lacking experience to make trip to Europe. 1, They took advantage for the Europe traveling because they knew the most of travelers has been trapped in the US and Canada for a long time due to the pandemic. 2, The agency booked the cheapest airfare to France, the 10 hours fly hours with low grade meal or no meal, such as "Westjet" and "Franchbee". (Only 2 stars on the customers review). 3, The agency charged $3300 and covered the air ticket + hotel + tour bus only per person, the rest museums tickets all need to pay extra. 4, The local tour guiders were lacking professional knowledge to deal with US tourists. The group has 3 tour buses with 120 tourists. The local guiders were lacking enthusiasm. 5, The entire trips with 3 buses were looking for the Chinese restaurant everyday for the group meals and disregard the pandemic stage cautious. Sure the group meals restaurant always attaches with agent commission. 6, The hotels 15 nights except one night stayed in the Crown Plaza, the rest nights stayed in 2 stars hotel. The tourist deserved better services. $3300 plus tip $180 per person. The tourist needs to pay all the ticket individually with agency marks up. you paid 28 Euro, the tour guider gave you only one hour in the museum, but he can spend hours bus time to find a Chinese restaurant. 7, During the trips, some tourists get infected the Covid-19, the tour leader from agency and local guider have no measures or procedure for the sanitization to protect the rest travelers, not at all. Overall, I do not recommend to travel with this agency, or the travelers need to be aware buying your own air ticket at least. The company name is cruises, they are lacking knowledge to handle the land tour. That was all I can share with you.

San Francisco is the home of the Golden Gate Bridge, the setting for "That's So Raven" and "Full House," and host to a robust ​​ professional and business services workforce.

It's also an expensive city and has seen more people moving out than in for somewhere else in the US.

Rachel Pohl, 34, who lived in San Francisco for several years, and her husband, Jesse Rosenthal, are just two of the people who left. After traveling around the US for around a year, they're happy having settled in Chattanooga , Tennessee . Pohl said while she was also happy in San Francisco and enjoyed living there, she's "grateful to call Chattanooga home" in her current phase of life. She and her husband moved to the city of more than 180,000 people in late 2021.

They had been considering moving away from California for quite some time before leaving San Francisco in the fall of 2020.

"It's very expensive, of course, difficult to buy a house, raise a family," she said. Pohl said they also wanted to live closer to family and wanted to be somewhere with a "slower pace of life" than the more fast-paced, large city of San Francisco, home to over 800,000 people .

"I think just the overall situation, livability there because of the cost of living is more difficult than smaller to mid-size cities," Pohl said.

The California wildfires in August 2020 were another reason the two decided to leave. "Around that time, we were thinking, let's get out of California. It's time," Pohl said.

'A grand nomadic tour of the US'

Amid remote work flexibility during the pandemic, the two ventured out of San Francisco and decided to explore the country to see the sights and decide where to settle down. "We did a grand nomadic tour of the US," Pohl said.

They packed up their things and put some stuff in storage. Pohl said goodbye to the city she had called home for years and where she met her husband. The two of them headed to Airbnb locations throughout the US.

Montana was one state they visited. Chattanooga was another place they got to see on their trip, and she found it was "very beautiful and lovely."

"It was springtime, and the flowers were blooming, and I thought, 'this is a nice place,'" she added. While she and her husband continued on, they eventually ended up moving there after roughly a year of travel because they wanted somewhere steady after finding out Pohl was pregnant. Pohl said she and her husband liked the size and Chattanooga's energy.

"It felt like there was enough and a lot going on for the size of the city, but not so overwhelming," she said.

They did end up in Durham, North Carolina, in the summer of 2021 before Chattanooga, partly because of its potential work opportunities. However, Pohl said they simply weren't feeling that location.

"We thought if we could pick to go anywhere, basically, in the US, we want to love it, and we want to feel great about our decision," Pohl said. "So we decided at that time to come back to Chattanooga. We hadn't been back since the spring."

The family-friendly location and other pros of being in Chattanooga

Pohl likes the access to nature in Chattanooga.

"We love to go on hikes and go by the river and go paddle boarding," she said. "We love to go to playgrounds and parks with our son. All of that is very accessible."

Pohl said people are also friendly in Chattanooga, and she thinks it's a family-friendly location. She has also found the people are more diversified in terms of jobs, as opposed to the dominance of tech in the San Francisco area.

"I was meeting entrepreneurs in the food and beverage industry and people doing all kinds of things," Pohl said about Chattanooga. "It felt approachable and accessible here to do that."

Chattanooga is also much more affordable for homebuyers than San Francisco. Realtor.com noted both San Francisco and Chattanooga as buyer's markets at the moment, where the "supply of homes is greater than the demand for homes." While that may be the case, Realtor.com also shows the median sold home price in Chattanooga is far below that across the country in San Francisco — $347,500 and around $1.1 million respectively.

"It is just much more accessible to buy a lovely larger-sized home in Tennessee and Chattanooga," she said. "Your dollar goes much further here. We had looked at potentially buying a house in California and just in the end thought this makes no sense because of the cost, because of the distance to family, and just kind of the whole situation we felt like, let's go yonder."

While Pohl is happy living in Tennessee, she misses the cuisine in San Franciso and access to some national parks nearby. Pohl noted to BI she had visited San Francisco since moving away, mainly for work. And while she does love the energy in Chattanooga, there's just something about the energy in California, too.

"It's such a beautiful state," Pohl said about California . "Sometimes I miss a little bit of the energy, but again, I feel like that was an active part of my choice to leave being in a big city, but there's so much innovation happening there around technology and AI. So sometimes, from a work perspective, I miss that."
