Liverpool's cruise berth officially opened on September 21st 2007. The berth is just a 5-10 minute walk from the World Heritage City center, whilst England's beautiful Northwest region is practically on the door step. A new permanent cruise terminal has been replaced the old facility in 2023. This terminal is only a block or two away from the existing terminal.

The berth is at Princes Dock. A 3 minute walk south to Pier Head, where in summer there is a fair with many rides, a rather lively area. Another 8 minute walk south, you will find the beautiful restored Albert Dock with The Beatles Story Museum and the Mersey side Maritime Museum and many restaurants and cafes in a very pleasant area. Right next to the Albert dock you will find Wheel of Liverpool , a huge ferris wheel with great views.

If the weather is nice, the above area is certainly good for a few hours of fun and relaxation.

Liverpool is not only the birth place of the Beatles but is also a cultural capital, with more national museums, theatres and galleries than any other UK city outside London.

Sport is a passion too with two Premiership soccer clubs and home to the world's most famous steeplechase, The Grand National. The Northwest region is known as England's Golf Coast.

All over the town (on nearly every corner of the downtown area) are big poles with arrows that would point in the direction of where sights are and not only would have the name of the sight, but the distance to that sight and the amount of minutes to walk there.

For serious shoppers the new Met Quarter and Liverpool 1 boast designer boutiques and over 200 new shops, restaurants and bars.

Cash machines (ATM) or less formally 'holes in the wall' are very widely available and usually dispense £10 and £20 notes.

Liverpool cruise terminal (aka Cruise Liverpool) is nestled along a UNESCO-listed waterfront on Princes Parade and consists of a 350-metre-long berth that can accommodate large cruise vessels. Upon sailing into the city, make sure to come out on the upper decks to enjoy breathtaking views of Liverpool’s skyline, the historic Pier Head, and the iconic Liver Building.

LIVERPOOL CRUISE TERMINAL The Three Graces dominate the view on the waterfront where passengers disembark straight into Albert Dock and the city, with museums, restaurants and bars plus lots of history on The Beatles. Used by: Cruise lines including Cunard , Norwegian, Azamara, Viking, Silversea, Fred Olsen, and Saga How to get there Car: Leave M6 at Junction 21a and take the M62 towards Liverpool City Centre. Follow the brown signs for Liverpool and/or Waterfront and The Liver Building. Passengers should make arrangements directly with their cruise line operator for parking. Train: Lime Street Station is Liverpool’s mainline station with trains to and from Manchester, London, Scotland. The cruise terminal is a 20-minute walk from Lime Street or five minutes by taxi. WHAT TO DO Book a Beatles tour One must when in Merseyside, is to take a tour of Beatles-based attractions in the band's hometown. The best is arguably The Beatles Story on Albert Dock. Wheely great If you've got a head for heights, the 60m Wheel of Liverpool showcases panoramic views across the county as far as the Welsh mountains. Positioned on the piazza directly outside the ECHO Arena on Liverpool’s historic waterfront, it includes 42 fully enclosed and air-conditioned capsules. Football fever Fans of the beautiful game will be in seventh heaven for English football's powerhouse has always been Merseyside – home to both Everton and Liverpool FC. A stadium dispute in 1892 lead Everton to leave their home ground Anfield for nearby Goodison Park, prompting Anfield owner John Houlding to form Liverpool in retaliation. The two clubs have been sniping at each other across dividing Stanley Park ever since. Dance your socks off at Cavern Club No self-respecting music lover can come to Liverpool and not spend at least one evening at the Cavern Club . Originally opened by Alan Synter as a jazz club back in 1957, The Beatles made their debut here on February 9, 1961 and played nearly 300 times at the club. The original Beatles may no longer be around, but a rota of top notch tribute acts perform nightly under the world famous club's burnt brick arches and will ensure that you end the night swaying with strangers to Hey Jude ... One caveat: ditch the jeans and dress up. Less is definitely not more in Liverpool. Museum mania Pop fans will want to pay a visit to the northern musical powerhouse if only to visit the to the British Museum Experience on Liverpool's waterfront. Expect to see exhibits including Noel Gallagher's Union Jack guitar and David Bowie's make-up smeared Ziggy Stardust costumes. Then head across the road to check out Tate Liverpool, on Albert Dock where, until September 24, 2023 you can take a fresh look at JMW Turner in a new exhibition Dark Waters.

Departing from the maritime city of Liverpool is the route to a friendly and efficient start to your holiday. Embarkation and disembarkation takes place in the same shared space and so for this reason, your cruise ticket includes a link to Check-in , which details your allocated arrival window, to help steady the flow of guests checking in for a smooth and safe embarkation. We kindly ask that you only arrive within your dedicated arrival window. If you arrive early, we ask that you return during the time specified for your arrival. Should you be delayed for any reason and miss your arrival window, the cruise check-in desks will be open for late arrivals.

Checking in

At check-in, you will be asked to present your passport. You will also need to register a credit or debit card to open your on board account. To keep things simple, all purchases you make during your cruise will be added to your account.

Wheelchairs & Scooters

If you intend to bring a wheelchair or scooter on board, it must be pre-booked in advance. Due to health and safety regulations, each vessel has a strict limit to the number of mobility devices on board. If you haven’t pre-booked and wish to check the availability of wheelchair and scooter spaces on your cruise, call Guest Services on 0800 0355 145. On arrival at the port, please bring your wheelchair or scooter to check-in. We kindly request that you do not pack mobility devices in your luggage.

Travelling to the Cruise Terminal, Liverpool by Car

If you are travelling to Liverpool by car and wish to use SatNav, please use the following post code:

Liverpool Cruise Terminal: L3 1DL

- Leave the M6 at Junction 21a, and take the M62 towards Liverpool.

- Follow the M62 to the end, keeping directly ahead for the A5080.

- Continue on this road until it merges into the A5047, following signs to Liverpool City Centre, the Cruise Terminal and Central Tourist Attractions.

From A55 – North Wales

- Head west on the A55, then continue onto A494.

- Merge onto the A550, via the ramp to Birkenhead, stay on the A550 before continuing onto the A41.

- Bear left onto Tunnel Road, then right onto King's Square (Toll Road).

- Stay on the Mersey Tunnel/Queensway route and then turn onto the A5036.

Arriving by your own car (if you have pre-booked car parking with CPS)

Please drive directly to the Q-Park Liverpool ONE car park ( L1 8LT ) where you will be met by a Cruise and Passenger Services representatives who will check your car in, and you will then be transported from the car park to Liverpool Cruise Terminal for check-in.

Arriving by other transport

If you are not arriving in your own car, please proceed directly to the Cruise Terminal drop off area where you will be directed by our team to the arrival area, which is a short walk away. Please have your travel documents, proof of a negative lateral flow test result and vaccination ready. You will then be shown to the check-in area where you will receive your cabin cards.

If you have booked and pre-paid car parking with CPS, you will be advised at the time of booking what documentation will be sent and required to present on arrival at the port. 

If you have booked a cruise that includes complimentary car parking, you're still required to book a car parking space. Fred. Olsen will issue a complimentary voucher 2 to 3 weeks before sailing and this will be posted directly, or via your travel agent. This complimentary voucher must be presented to car park staff upon arrival. Regrettably, if guests forget this voucher they will be required to pay the full ‘on the day’ rate, which cannot be reimbursed by Fred. Olsen.

Travelling to Liverpool by Train

Liverpool Lime Street is Liverpool's mainline station, with trains connecting the city to Manchester, London, Scotland and the rest of the UK. Lime Street is approximately a 20 minute walk from the Cruise Terminal or approximately 5 minutes by taxi - see local taxi company details below. National Rail Enquiries (08457 484 950) can assist with specific train times.

Please note: There is no free porter service available at Lime Street Station.

Liverpool Cruise Terminal has shared its cruise schedule for the remainder of 2023.

The city will host some new and iconic cruise lines this year. There will be an enormous range of luxury, boutique and expedition vessels coming to Liverpool.

Over the next seven months, vessels from the likes of Disney , P&O and Cunard will all call at the port. Since 2007, Liverpool’s terminal has offered cruises with many of the world’s most famous cruise lines.

• Pick Up Only – Due to limited space in front of Baggage Reclaim, we are unable to accommodate a pick up point on site. The closest pay & display car park is located adjacent to the Liver Building on St Nicholas Place.
• Other car parks close by include Q Park on Vernon Street, NCP Pall Mall & Rumford Street Pay & Display.

• There is no layover facility at Liverpool Cruise Terminal. You are welcome to wait for passengers outside Baggage Reclaim without your vehicle.

Our Liverpool shore excursions depart from Liverpool Cruise Terminal on selected dates throughout the year and are the perfect way to explore Liverpool and the surrounding areas. Our 3-hour private Beatles tour takes you to many of the sites associated with the lives of the Fab Four in Liverpool. Starting with a walking tour of the city, you’ll then have time to see the city walls, discover an iconic shopping street and more! Many reviews have rated the Liverpool Port and docks among the best in the world. It is therefore has become one of the major destinations for cruise ships in the United Kingdom together with the port in Southampton Hampshire , Dover Kent , Harwich Essex and Tilbury (London) .

Besides convenient docks, the many sightseeing destinations around the cruise ship terminal as well as elsewhere in the city make this a favourite destination for visitors. The passenger terminal has been overhauled recently, and the added comfort and convenience for passengers embarking or disembarking here has made this a busy destinations for cruise ships.

Liverpool city centre is a few minutes from the docks, and offers plenty of visitor attractions and conveniences. The train station is less than 5 minutes by taxi or 20-minute walk and there is no dearth of convenient parking spots. There is a Taxi rank adjacent to the Liverpool Passenger Terminal for both drop off and collection.

The Cathedral has the distinction of the being the largest in the UK. Visitors can tour the Cathedral Tower, overlooking the Mersey River, or the Lady Chapel, famous for its architectural marvels.

Another city attraction is the Beatles museum, formally known as the Beatles Story, and offers tours of the destinations associated with the famous 1960s pop group. There are ferry tours on the Mersey for those who love river cruises.

Don’t forget to visit the Liverpool Museum, which also houses exhibits related to natural history, plus a planetarium for fans of astronomy. To know the city more closely, visit the Life exhibit, which documents the culture and history of the city. Liverpool is also famous for its shopping destinations, starting from the Paradise Street, to the Chinatown.

How to Get to

Liverpool cruise docks are only a short travel distance away from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (20 minutes by taxi). Manchester International Airport is about 62 km or 38 mi from the port.

Liverpool Lime Street Station, the city’s main train station is located about 20 minutes away on foot from the port. A taxi ride will be approximately 5 minutes.

The station is well connected with Manchester, London, Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 21a, and take the M62 towards Liverpool City Centre. Follow the brown signs on the arterial routes for Liverpool and/or Waterfront until you reach The Liver Building, which is the location of the passenger terminal.

Viking venus cruise ship returns to liverpool.

The Viking Venus cruise liner made a return visit to Liverpool today as part of a 14-day voyage.

The ship docked at Liverpool Cruise Terminal on the sixth day of its itinerary after docking in Dublin yesterday. The cruise started on April 19 in London-Tilbury, and will end in Bergen, Norway on May 3.

On route to Bergen, the Viking Venus will stop in Holyhead, Belfast, Ullapool, Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands, Leith-Edinburgh, Invergordon and Lerwick in the Shetland Islands.

The Venus was built in 2021 and can accommodate 940 passengers and 465 crew members. It has 10 decks and 464 cabins and can travel at a speed of 23 mph.

It is described as an "all-veranda small ship", which means it can dock where larger ships cannot. It is said to offer its guests sweeping ocean views from their rooms.

The ship was officially named by the broadcaster Anne Diamond on May 17, 2021. It has eight identical sister ships which together make up the Viking ocean fleet, after the name of the operator Viking.

The Venus features the Viking Living Room, with a bar inspired by ancient Viking longships. The ship's spa contains the 'Snow Grotto' which is described by Viking as "the most unique treatment space at sea". The company said "it acts as a part of the centuries old Nordic tradition of alternating hot and cold treatments to detoxify." There is also a music venue styled in the image of a 1940s Hollywood jazz lounge.

Today's stop was the second time the Venus has docked in Liverpool this month. The ship also docked on April 13. It is scheduled to return to the city on August 27 and September 8.
