Editoral Review of Explore!
Why explore, unforgettable experiences.
On our trips you'll see a mix of famous sights and hidden gems that others miss, or don't even know about. As travelers, we want to experience a country, not merely observe it. We'll take you closer to the country, its culture and people, often in unscripted, spontaneous, impossible-to-replicate ways. You'll come home having seen and experienced the country in a way that other travelers might never have.
Expert local guides
As your resident expert, your guide (or tour leader) will use their insider knowledge and local connections to make the most of unexpected opportunities. You might be invited to watch the sunrise from a lighthouse or to join family Diwali celebrations. They'll be on hand to make sure your trip goes smoothly, taking care of logistics. Our tour leaders are all hand-picked and trained by our experienced team to ensure consistently high standards.
Small groups
Our average group size is just 11; big enough to meet like-minded people but small enough to get to the heart of a destination. All sorts of people travel on our trips; groups are usually a mix of solos, couples and friends. What unites everyone is an adventurous spirit, sense of fun and a desire for real travel experiences. Call us to learn more about the group already booked on a particular trip (age range, solos vs couples etc).
Sustainable Travel
We're committed to reducing our impact on the planet and working towards a sustainable future. Every single one of our trips now has a carbon label, and we work hard to ensure we have a positive impact on the communities we visit.
Accommodation
We carefully select our accommodation to give you a comfortable night's sleep in the best possible locations. The places we stay are every bit as important as the sights we visit and the things we do. Wherever possible we choose small, local and family-run properties. Occasionally, when we want to get off the beaten tourist trail, we may stay in more basic accommodation. Choices are based on what’s available in the places we want to stay; we choose the accommodation to suit the itinerary, not the other way around.

Grand Canyon Explorer Tour
EXPERIENCE:
-Majestic Volcanoes -Remarkable Ruins -Dramatic Lava Fields -Grand Canyon -Navajo Reservation -Oak Creek Canyon -The Painted Desert
Tour Highlights : The most spectacular viewpoints along the South & East Rims - Spotting for the rare and endangered California Condors - Sunset Crater Volcano National monument - Wupatki Ruins National Monument - The Little Colorado River Gorge - The Painted Desert - Lunch at the historic Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Indian Reservation - Oak Creek Canyon
When you want to see the best of what Northern Arizona has to offer, do it with our full-day Grand Canyon Complete Tour from Sedona or *Flagstaff.
Start off with a scenic and historic ride from the Red Rocks of Sedona, through Oak Creek Canyon (one of the top 10 scenic drives in America) and towering Ponderosa Pines of Flagstaff.
After meeting our *Flagstaff guests, we'll head up to Sunset Crater National Monument, the Colorado Plateau's youngest volcano. Here, you will be able to stroll amongst the dormant volcanoes and pristine lava fields as you learn about the history and geology of the area. While nearly a millennia old, these lava fields look as though they were created just last week. It appears to be such a lunar landscape, all of the Apollo Astronauts practiced their Rover missions here.
As we make our way across the Navajo (Diné) Reservation and the western portion of the Painted Desert, we'll stop at the Historic Trading Post in Cameron, originally built in 1916. This is one of the finest places to shop for authentic Native American souvenirs. You may also visit The Gallery, home of many breathtaking pieces of fine and historic Indian Arts and Crafts.
After departing the Trading Post, we make our final leg to the Grand Canyon National Park with a scenic drive along the Little Colorado River Gorge and climb to an altitude of approximately 7,500 feet.
Upon entering the National Park (entrance fees are included), you'll get your first views of the Grand Canyon and Colorado River at Desert View. You will be able to gaze over 10 miles across the Grand Canyon to the North Rim, look down at the Colorado River nearly a mile below you, and get a glimpse of Navajo Mountain in Page, Arizona, over 90 miles away!
Climb up to the top of the Watchtower Observatory, one of the crowning achievements of Mary Colter, surely the finest architect the Southwest has ever seen.
As we make our way along the rim of the Grand Canyon, we'll stops at some of the most scenic and historic points between the South and East Rims of the Grand Canyon.
The last stop on our tour is at the Grand Canyon Village, where you'll have time to visit and shop at the many historic buildings and museums; such as the Hopi House, the rustic El Tovar Lodge, the Grand Canyon Railway Station as well as Lookout and Kolb Studios. You can also take in some wondrous views of the Grand Canyon looking down onto the Bright Angel trail and Indian Gardens. You may even get a glimpse of the incredible California Condors!
Throughout your journey with us, you'll enjoy interesting, informative, and entertaining narration from your professional guide. Our favorite way to see it all in one day!
* Please Note: Seeing the redrocks in Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon are for guests picked up in Sedona only. In Flagstaff, we provide complementary pickup for all hotels (within city limits only).

Thanks to the Discovery group which embarked on that first exploration, travellers from around the world can also take part in this expertly curated tour and experience the charming attractions, cherry blossoms, delicious cuisine and one-of-a-kind highlights. Today, Highlights of Japan is a staple tour that's become a favourite to many, with departures on sale throughout 2024.
