Great service and pleasant and friendly staff… Returned my calls and held booking for payment.. I would have liked to be offered the option of paper rather than email for all my documents…I found it difficult with luggage labels, shore excursions and tickets on line. When on board, I met people who had had all that on paper. I also didn’t know that we needed a Covid test to take with us…was that specified? I didn’t notice that, and had to pay two times £25 to be tested at Southampton. I will use you again, and recommend you to my friends….

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to read of your disappointment with regard to the wait you have had to get through to us by telephone. Sadly, like many other businesses, as we recover from the events of the last two years, we are in a period of transition. This, along with the pent up demand for holidays and the continuing administration issues due to Covid and testing related queries, is placing an immense demand on our telephones. We have recruited 27 news sales staff over the last year, but it takes time for these new starters to reach the standards that we require before they can independently work in the call centre. Please be assured this remains our main priority as being short of experienced staff has a significant effect on our ability to handle phone volumes. To the outside world this must be difficult to understand, but finding the right recruits in the current employment market is highly challenging. We are making progress and wait times are much better, but still have a long way to go. I hope that, on reflection, you can understand the situation we are in and I would like to assure you that we are doing everything that we can to build our call centre staff numbers back up to cope with this demand. As a previous customer, you will be aware that this is not indicative of our usual level of service and we hope that you will continue to value this, as we value your business. You may be aware that if you call us and subsequently decide not to wait, we have a system that logs your number and we will always call you back.

Exclusive: Bolsover Cruise Club expands team as revenue soars

Bolsover Cruise Club

Bolsover Cruise Club has drastically expanded its Cruise and Stay team with an influx of staff and a new dedicated office space.

The department, which specialises in bespoke holidays for cruise customers, was established in 2019 with six members of staff, before initial plans to bolster the team were scuppered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now with a 19-strong workforce and a recent move to a new purpose-built office space at The Cruise Centre in Barlborough, the Cruise and Stay department has posted exponential growth figures.

Revenue is currently up 100% year-on-year, which the team intends to maintain over the next 12 months, and a dedicated administration and marketing outfit is now assisting the department in its future development.

The business, which said it is acutely aware of the “heavy” discounting often seen across cruise, has resolved to remain competitive against such plights while still providing “exemplary” levels of customer service.

Bolsover Cruise Club eyes further growth

The team is now eyeing further growth, which will include taking steps towards specialising in ultra-unique event cruises.

The company has also recruited Oliver Wilson, who will be responsible for identifying such gaps in the market and working with global providers to promote exclusive cruise and stay packages.

Managing director of Bolsover Cruise Club Michael Wilson said: “This is an exciting time for the development of our company. Cruise and Stay is undoubtedly our big success story; we have seen continued growth, and satisfaction levels among our customers are at a record high.”

Viking announces new vice president of investor relations, carola mengolini brings nearly 25 years of experience in finance and investor relations.

A massive cruise ship likely struck and killed an endangered whale before sailing into the East River Saturday morning — and there’s no telling how long the dead mammal was dragged by the boat before it was discovered, according to marine experts.

The 44-foot adult female Sei whale was found as the MSC Meraviglia docked at the Port of Brooklyn, a spokesperson for MSC cruises confirmed.

The unlucky cetacean was removed from the 19-deck ship and towed to Sandy Hook, New Jersey, Tuesday for a necropsy, said National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration fisheries spokesperson Andrea Gomez — but emphasized it is too soon to tell whether or not the whale was dead before impact.

Rob DiGiovanni, the founder and chief scientist of the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, however, told The Post it was more than likely that the “interaction with the vessel contributed to her death.”

“It looks like she was eating,” DiGiovanni said, indicating she was a healthy whale with relatively fresh food in her stomach.

The hulking Meraviglia — the same ship that rescued 24 distressed Cuban migrants from a boat off the coast of Florida last year — weighs 171,600 gross tonage and stands 214 feet tall.

When and where the whale was struck remains a mystery, but Sei whales are typically observed in deeper waters far from the coastline, according to NOAA.

They are one of the largest whale species and are internationally protected, with vessel strikes listed as one of the biggest threats to its dwindling population.

According to an expert, it is likely that "interaction with the vessel contributed to her death."

The body was “pretty decomposed,” DiGiovanni revealed, but said that does not help professionals lock down a timeline of its death.

The temperature of the water, especially on the higher side, can accelerate the decomposition process by days.

The tragic event is unfortunately not uncommon, according to DiGiovanni, but it’s nearly impossible to track just how often it occurs because the whales could sink to the bottom of the ocean floor after being struck.

The Sei whale was "pretty decomposed" when it was discovered.

Ship staff or guests also might not even notice a striking, considering just how large cruise vessels stand, making even the world’s largest mammal look like an ant.

Such strikes could contribute to the unusual mortuary event in the New York Bight Apex — the waters from Fire Island to the Manasquan Inlet in New Jersey.

Starting in 2016, humpback, Mackey and North Atlantic Right whale deaths skyrocketed from one to three per year to 12 to 14 per year, DiGiovanni said.

The shocking death surge is a tragic side effect of whales flocking to Big Apple waters in higher numbers per year, creating a Catch-22 situation.

While some stay year-round, the amount of whales enjoying the East River jumps as spring rolls around.

“We start to see increases in whale sightings now, so we urge boaters to use caution in the waters,” DiGiovanni said, encouraging ship captains to consider the “Slow: Children at Play” mentality when taking on the open seas.

NOAA reiterated this sentiment: “Mariners operating along the US East Coast are encouraged to slow their vessel speed, stay alert, and report any sightings of right whales or any dead, injured, or entangled whales.”
