Crater Cruise!

My husband and did the Crater Cruiser Safari as a shore activity during a cruise. As first time kayakers our guide, Jake, was the perfect host. Not only did he guide us through the learning experience but once we were out on the open water he was incredibly knowledgeable and also managed to find some dolphins for us. I can thoroughly recommend this amazing tour.

Thanks so much for coming, we really do have one of the best kayaking areas in the country and it is such an amazing thing to do as a shore excursion when coming in via cruise ship, you get to see all the amazing features of the volcanic crater and its inhabitants close up! Safe cruising to you, we are glad our guides looked after you, we do our best to deliver 5 star service expeically to newbies of kayaking, feeling safe and comfortable is the most important thing when doing something new Allie & Greville

I went solo to Akaroa and did this kayak safari. I was anxious at first as it's my first time kayaking. But Jake is a great guide! He guided us all through out the tour and assisted us with everything. I am definitely recommending this tour. This is good for those who travel as a group, couple or even solo like me. I don't easily get comfortable traveling solo let alone doing activities like this, but I definitely enjoyed a lot! We actually gave up looking for dolphins, but on our way back..lo and behold, two dolphins showed up! It was magical. It was like a 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' moment. Glad I was able to capture it with my GoPro. It was spectacular! If I can give 100 stars for this trip, I would!

Thanks Ivy! So glad you enjoyed our service, we love to look after our guests and our guides give the 5 star treatment to make sure all first timers and experienced paddlers alike are fully comfortable and safe with knowledge about the route, safety procedures and equipment before we hit the water. The wildlife often comes out for those who are patient and do not just expect it is their right...so we are super stoked you got to get a sighting of the rare hector dolphins. Thanks for the 100 stars and we are so happy this was the best thing you did in NZ! All the best Allie & Greville

Jake was a friendly and expert guide, accommodating our last minute tour request. He took great care of us and generously shared his deep knowledge of this area. And he has a great sense of humor! Highly recommend this company and Jake as a guide.

Thanks so much for the review, we are so happy you enjoyed your evening paddle, we thought it was great you were spontaneous and keen to hit the water as soon as you got into town, great idea! Happy to accommodate you and we hope you enjoy the rest of your trip! Allie & Greville

A unique, eco friendly experience! My partner and I had an absolutely fantastic morning on the bay! Our guide, Jake, was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. Everything was relaxed and he was fantastic in telling us about the history, nature, and beauties of Akaroa. We loved the peaceful morning as there were few people out and about so we had the waters to ourselves. The kayak tour is the ultimate eco friendly way to enjoy wildlife on their terms with no negative impacts! We had the privilege of seeing the beloved hectors dolphins and it made my week! Please support this fantastic company that truly has respect for this water sanctuary and all its wild treasures 💗!

Thanks so much for your review, it really stirs the soul to read your comments because we just put everything we have into creating the most eco friendly tours with minimal impact on our harbour and its incredible treasures that live beneath the surface, thanks so much for the acknowledgement and we are so happy you got a visit from some of our hector friends, they only come out for those who respect them..shh our little secret! Being on the water with out boat engine noise, husstle and bustle of other tourists, diesel fumes and loud speakers narrating is the only way to experience this natural wonder. All the best! Allie & Greville

Spent midday kayaking in a beautiful lake formed by an volcanic caldera. Idyllic! Dramatic green rolling hills surrounding perfect blue/green water. Our guide Jake pointed out birds, geographic formations, and vegetation with cultural significance to the NZ islands. I have kayaked before, but learned so much in just this short time with him and his safety briefing. Still your mind, hear water gently lapping all around you and feel a soft breeze on your face. . . yes, that was our day.

Thanks Renne, you really summed it up, often we refer to our time on the water as 'disney trips' because it really feels like a fairytale at times! Im so glad you got to experience one of these perfect days! We only employ the best guides in the business and we are so happy that Jake could share his knowledge with you, safety is always our number 1 priority so its great you took our detailed safety briefing on board. Thanks again for coming and we hope the memories of your kayak trip stay with you for a lifetime Allie & Greville

A fantastic morning kayaking. Easy paddling, great instructions before hand. Knowledgeable guide, Grenville, who was excellent. Saw shags and penguins....then...a pod of hectors dolphins stayed amongst our 4 boats for about 20 mins. Strongly advise the early morning trip, the conditions are calmer and the wildlife better.

Thanks so much for the review! What a blessing to see rare white flippered penguins in the wild and the endangered hector dolphins visiting provided extremely close encounters are just magical! The local pod recognizes our kayaks as we recogize them when they decide to appear to say hello to us, they love our kayaks as there are no fumes, propellers or loud noises that the boats cause. We often see them disapear when boats come by to view them and then reappear next to us when the boats leave...mornings for sure are amazing as we often have the whole crater to ourselves. Thanks for coming! Allie & greville

Safari overview.

Our 3 Days Ngorongoro Crater Safari is the best trip available to the Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro Crater, often known as the Eden of Africa or the 8th Wonder of the World, is the place to go if you just have a few days in Tanzania and want to make the most of it. 3 Days Ngorongoro Crater Safari provides a unique opportunity to see the Big 5 in such a short period of time. The Crater floor itself is just roughly 21 kilometers in circumference, and animals may be seen from a very short distance. The crater floor is home to over 20,000 creatures and is a birder’s paradise, with over 500 bird species documented.

Detailed Itinerary for 3 Days Ngorongoro Crater Safari.

Day 1: pickup and transfer to ngorongoro conservation area..

On the first day of your Ngorongoro Safari trip, depart Arusha at 07.00 – 08.00 AM and drive through the Masai Steppe, across Lake Manyara in the Rift Valley, up the escapement, and over Karatu to the Loduare Gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After a quick stop at the gate for registration, we drive up to the View Point, where we make a brief halt to photograph some of the most stunning views of the Crater bottom. We next drop into the Ngorongoro Crater bottom for the remainder of the day’s wildlife drives.

Picnic lunch will be provided at the picnic location by the hippo poolside, followed by game drives up the Crater rim and out to Karatu for overnight at a lodge. At Karatu, stay at Marera Valley Lodge , Country Lodge, or something similar. Lunch and supper are also included.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater Area.

After breakfast, you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, widely known as the “Eden of Africa.” The Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s biggest continuous crater, is unsurpassed in terms of wildlife concentration. Your driver will be in regular communication with other drivers to discover the greatest animal sightings, and with luck, you will be able to glimpse the big five inside the Crater. It’s always impossible to express the magnificence of this caldera, therefore a visit is well worth it.

The crater area is home to a variety of animals , including great predators like as lions and leopards. Elephants, buffaloes, hippos, jackals, flamingos, zebras, and a variety of bird species are also found in the park. Lunch will be given at the picnic location, then in the late afternoon, we will return to the Crater rim and travel to your preferred lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Transfer back to Arusha.

After a relaxing breakfast at the lodge, you will have the option of seeing a Masai Village or embarking on a nature walk in the woodlands of Ngorongoro (for an additional cost). You will be led by an armed ranger into the forest paths, where you may encounter herds of buffaloes, elephants, and other forest creatures like as duikers, as well as lions, leopards, and other predators. After the activities, you will return to Arusha through Karatu and Mto wa Mbu market towns, where you may interact with the people and do some shopping if you desire.

What you should know about Ngorongoro Crater Area?

The bigger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, located roughly 160 kilometers from Arusha, is characterized by mountains and plains, but the real gem of the area is the Ngorongoro Crater. Geographically, what has long been known as the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s biggest uninterrupted crater. As a safari location, Ngorongoro Crater is included in the majority of our Tanzania safari excursions, which may be tailored to your specific needs, ideas, and budget.

The Ngorongoro crater is a UNESCO world heritage site with a circumference of around 20 kilometers, a depth of 600 meters, and an area of roughly 300 meters’ square kilometers. Unlike national parks, it allows for many land uses. The Maasai nomadic people are permitted to graze cattle in the region, and through their culture and customs, they have managed to coexist peacefully with the wild animals.

What you can expect during your safari to Ngorongoro Crater Area?

Lake Makat is located in the heart of the Ngorongoro Crater, which has been termed the Eden of Africa or the eighth wonder of the world. This soda lake, which is supplied by the neighboring mountains, ensures a consistent supply of water all year round, resulting in a concentration of species unparalleled in east Africa. There is no other area where you can view animals at such close quarters, and with a little luck, you can sight the BIG 5 in only one day of game drives.

Wildlife in Ngorongoro Area

The Ngorongoro Crater is thought to contain the world’s largest concentration of animals in a natural setting (animal / per area ratio). The distinctive animal species of the Ngorongoro crater is definitely the black rhino! Rhinos are a rare animal that is difficult to spot in Tanzania if you want to see them in their native habitat. Because the creatures like to hide in dense foliage, they might be difficult to identify.

The situation is different at the Ngorongoro Crater. They have a tendency of spending the evenings in the Lerai Forest, which is located on the bottom of the Ngorongoro Crater, so your guide will assist you in attempting to find the Black Rhino and, ideally, all of the Big Five that live in the Crater: Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, and Rhinos. Aside from black rhinos, other uncommon animals seen on the Crater floor include golden jackals, black backed jackals, and spotted hyenas.

Other animals and birds regularly seen in the Ngorongoro Crater include hippos, buffalo, zebra, wildebeests, elephants, lions, hartebeests, warthogs, and many others.

Lerai Forest

The Lerai Forest on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater is home to the shy leopard and offers shade for elephants. This area is also a favored hangout for baboon and monkey packs. Other creatures that may be seen readily include topis, elands, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, and buffaloes, cats such as serval cats, cheetahs, and lions, and a large number of hyenas that can be seen cooling down in the afternoons in lakes and pools.

Empakaai Crater

The Empakaai Crater is a considerably smaller caldera, yet it is quite picturesque, with a Crater lake on its bottom. The Empakaai is roughly an hour and a half’s drive from the Ngorongoro Crater. The deep soda lake at the Crater’s floor spans around half of the 6 Kilometer caldera. Thousands of flamingos are expected to be seen during your visit because the regions are the shallow portions of the lake, giving the lake’s borders a spectacular pink color. To reach to this location, you will be transported to the outside rims of the Crater in a 4×4 safari land cruiser, followed by a 45-minute stroll down the Crater accompanied by a trained armed ranger equipped with a weapon to assure your safety.

The Empakaai Crater offers one of the most spectacular vistas you’ve ever seen. From afar, the vista from Empakaai down to Lake Natron and Mount Oldoinyo Lengai is undoubtedly one of the greatest in Africa. If you are fortunate enough to have gone here on a lucky day, you may be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro and Lake Natron from here. If you have at least two days to see the Ngorongoro Highlands and the Crater, we may incorporate a visit to Empakaai Crater.

Olduvai/Oldupai Gorge

Aside from animals, The Ngorongoro Conservation Area attracts visitors for a variety of reasons, including geology and archeology. Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important prehistoric sites, is located here. The bones of the hominid Australopithecus Boisei (Zinjanthropus), popularly known as the Nutcracker man, were unearthed here and are thought to date back 1.4 million years. Louis Leakey, a well-known archaeologist, and his wife Mary Leakey made the find.

The Olduvai Gorge, which is 48 kilometers long, is a steep-sided canyon in Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley. There is a museum on this site that houses reproductions of the hominid fossils discovered here. Aside from the Olduvai Gorge, you may be interested in viewing the Laetoli Footprints, which are the oldest footprints ever discovered in the world

Where to stay during your 3 Days Ngorongoro Crater Safari?

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area includes a lot of hotel options, however they are limited and cannot accommodate everyone. Many lodges have been established in Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands, just a few minutes from the Loduare Gate (major gate), in response to the need for more accommodation. The few lodges found inside the NCAA range from standard luxury lodges and tented camps to high end / top market resorts. Within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, there is only one midrange lodge: Rhino Lodge.

The lodges and tented camps situated on the Crater rim provide wonderful views of the Crater’s bottom, although the quality of the views varies from resort to lodge. The lodges and campgrounds on the Crater Rim provide easy access to the Crater level, so if you don’t mind getting up early, you’ll be among the first to arrive to the Crater bottom in the morning. The rates for staying at the lodge are often costly because there are few inside, but the prices also include concession fees that are imposed to lodges located within parks. These lodges are normally rather spacious, so if you are searching for a tiny place to stay, this is not the place for you.

The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is the costliest and opulent lodge within the NCAA. Other lodges offering views of the Ngorongoro Crater floor include the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge on the Crater’s eastern rim (with spectacular sunsets), the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge on the western rim, and the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge. The Highlands Ngorongoro (Deluxe resort), the Lemala Ngorongoro Camp, and the new yet stunning Lion’s Paw Camp by Karibu Camps are all located inside the NCAA.

The upscale resorts found in Karatu nearby include Gibb’s Farm, Manor at Ngorongoro, and Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Camp. The Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge, Plantation Lodge, Oldeani Mountain Lodge, Plantation Lodge, Kitela Lodge, and Acacia Farm Lodge are among the other standard lodges. Ngorongoro Farm House, Marera Valley Lodge, Country Lodge, Bougainvillea Safari Lodge, and Pamoja Olea Farm Lodge are among the midrange lodges.

When is the best time to book a 3 Days Ngorongoro Crater Safari?

Ngorongoro Crater is one of the wildlife locations with superb animal viewing on the Crater floor all year. Ngorongoro is best visited between June and September, when the wildlife game drives are at their finest due to shorter grasslands and hence better visibility. The main season for Ngorongoro Crater is from July to March, so if you visit during that time, expect to see a lot of people.

The beauty in Ngorongoro Crater is at its best during the wet season, which is between November and May. The grasses, on the other hand, may be tall during this period, making it difficult to identify animals, particularly tiny species. The months of March to April are typically the wettest throughout East Africa, not only at Ngorongoro.

Day 1 - Arusha to Central Serengeti Your safari will begin by 8AM in the morning with a pick up from your hotel at Arusha. With everyone aboard, you will head towards Serengeti National Park. The 240 Km drive will be covered in about 6hrs. The Serengeti, means endless plains in the local African language and watching the grassland stretch out as far as the eye can see and eventually merging with the sky at the horizon is an absolutely breathtaking view. With an overall land area of 14,763 Sq Kms, It puts our notion about distance to shame. The Serengeti also houses the glorious “Big 5” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard). Along with the “Big 5”, a very pleasant sighting would be one of Africa’s most beautiful animal – The Impala. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa. The legendary Serengeti National Park is the most renowned safari destination for its incredible population of lions and leopards. The central portion of the Serengeti - known as Seronera area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. In seronera, one must really look out for the many lion prides that thrive in this region. You must also look out for the Serengeti “Kopjes” which are massive boulders of granite standing in a sea of grass. They provide ample shelter to a large variety of flora and fauna. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long game drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation. Day 2 - Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Later depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area with picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic crater in the world and fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. Ngorongoro Crater is surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and the floor, dotted with watering holes, shelters some 30,000 animals. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation. Day 3 - Ngorongoro Crater Tour (5 hours) to Arusha On the last day of your safari, you will have an early start. Finishing up with a quick breakfast you will make an early descent at around 6:30 AM into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq kms with a depth of over 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action. Keeping the camera ready is definitely recommended. The African elephant, buffalo, Black rhino, Hippos, Hyenas, Cheetahs and Lions are found in plenty. Post the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, you will begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater. This is the last leg of your safari, with a 4hr drive left to Arusha. You will be dropped off to your preferred location in Arusha by 6:00 PM in the evening. With an incredible experience and loads of memories to cherish, this is the time you bid goodbye to your team.

Watch thousands of wildebeests and zebras crossing the grassland savannah is an experience to behold and surely one of Africa’s natural wonders. On this 6-day lodge safari you will visit the Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park. In order to increase your chances of witnessing the Great Migration, we choose your route and the order of camps according to your time of travel.

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After meeting your safari guide in the morning, you hit the road in your 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser and drive to the Tarangire National Park. Open savannah, baobab trees, seasonal swamps and the life-giving Tarangire River characterise the landscape of this beautiful national park. Animals gather at the river, as elephants, giraffes, bushbucks and hartebeests can often be seen. You might even be able to spot the fringe-eared oryx or the weird-looking gerenuk. Tarangire is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests which are always closely followed by a range of predators including lions.

Your safari vehicle has an open roof and is the ideal viewing platform to appreciate the nature and animals around you. In the late afternoon you will leave the park and travel to the Sangaiwe Tented Lodge, where you will spend the night.

Accommodation: Sangaiwe Tented Lodge

Day 2: Tarangire Area – Serengeti National Park

Today’s journey takes you past Lake Manyara into the fertile Ngorongoro highlands. Crossing the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will reach the vast open plains of the Serengeti National Park in the early afternoon.

The following days are set aside for exploring the famous Serengeti, home to the Big Five – elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino – and many other animals. You can look forward to many new wildlife sightings during your game drives as no day on safari is the same.

You spend the following three nights at the Kati Kati Tented Camp. Depending on the season, you will either stay one night in the central Serengeti and two nights in the northern Serengeti (June – October) or the southern Serengeti (January – March), or you stay all three nights in the central Serengeti (November – December & April – May).

Accommodation: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp or similar

Day 3-4: Serengeti National Park

These two days are all about the Serengeti. Together with your guide, you scout for animals in this pristine corner of the world. You are in no rush and have plenty of time to observe the park’s wildlife and learn about animal behaviour as well as their social structures. The Serengeti National Park is the third largest park in Tanzania and is stunningly beautiful. While the landscape in the south is characterised by open grassland as far as you can see, open woodlands and hills are predominant in the north and west. Together with the Masai Mara, the Serengeti is host to the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras, one of the greatest shows on earth. Your home is one of the Kati Kati Tented Camps. In order to increase your chances of witnessing the Great Migration, we choose your route and the order of camps according to your time of travel.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast you will continue your safari in the Serengeti National Park. In the Seronera Valley you might be lucky to see predators hunt as animals gather at the waters during the dry season.

After lunch at a picnic spot you will slowly drive in the direction of the Ngorongoro Crater. As soon as you have reached the crater you will have a superb view of the caldera. This approximate 20 km wide crater is part of an UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to over 20,000 animals.

You will stay at the Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp on the crater rim from where you will be able to enjoy an incredible sunset.

Accommodation: Ang'ata Ngorongoro Camp or similar

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration & trip ends in Arusha

Rise and shine! After an early breakfast you will drive down the steep path into the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest, unbroken and unflooded caldera in the world and it has an unbelievable diversity of wildlife. In addition to zebras and wildebeests, you might also spot the rare black rhino and other members of the Big Five. The crater is also home to other animals such as hyenas, waterbucks, bushbucks, eland and more than 500 bird species.

After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch you will leave the caldera in the afternoon and drive back to Arusha, where you will arrive in the early evening.

Want the best views while camping and stargazing? The Safari Camper is for you

O verlanding is trending of late and this has pushed companies to innovate like never before. China-based Wild Land, ever the overlanding gear pioneer, announced their newest creation, the 3-in-1 Safari Cruiser.

This remarkable product is not just a pickup bed rack or a truck topper but a panoramic two-story camping complex, a marvel of engineering. Unlike conventional pickup toppers, the Safari Cruiser stands out by dropping to cab height and width during travel, thereby enhancing aerodynamics without compromising on interior space.

The Safari Cruiser secures to the top of a pickup truck's bed rails, resembling a sleek, square-cornered version of a cab-height pickup shell. However, despite its unassuming appearance, this loaded box, weighing 550 lb (250 kg), harbors a plethora of features.

Its electric double-lift system is especially praiseworthy, enabling a smooth transformation from a closed shell to a high two-story base camp, with an upper rooftop tent and a flexible lower space inside the pickup bed.

Two-story bliss on the move

Once at the campsite, the Safari Cruiser unfolds its magic. With a press of a button on the provided keychain remote, users can activate the battery pack mounted to the wall of the truck bed, and watch as the Safari Cruiser rises into a two-story haven.

The upper tent reached via a ladder in the pickup bed, offers a sleeping space with breathtaking 270-degree views, courtesy of a full-mesh front panel and a clear skylight overhead. Wild Land introduces front and rear fold-out tent floor extensions, which can be manually folded out to expand the sleeping area from a cube of length 171 cm to a generous trapezoidal prism 87 x 55 inches (220 x 140 cm).

The upper tent, accessible via a ladder in the pickup bed, boasts a full-mesh front panel, offering breathtaking panoramic 270-degree views. On clear nights, campers can stargaze through the skylight overhead. Additionally, the rooftop features a 30-W solar panel , powering LED lighting, and a lift system battery.

Challenges in the Wild

While the Safari Cruiser excels in innovation, questions linger about its practicality in the field. The lower space inside the pickup bed, limited to a 59-in (150-cm) height, may not be suitable for standing. The sleeping area, although provides a brilliant panoramic view, lacks full weather protection without an enclosed back. Additionally, the design raises concerns about stability in windy conditions due to its high and broad sides.

The Safari Cruiser boasts crossbars on top capable of holding up to 66 pounds (30 kg), to which bikes, kayaks, and other outdoor adventure gear can be mounted, according to Auto Evolution .

Wild Land has currently launched the Safari Cruiser in the Chinese market, with plans for global expansion in the works. The company seeks distributors and will showcase the unit at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in the United States. Priced at an estimated US$10,000, the Safari Cruiser isn’t the most affordable but is attractive to adventurers with its unique blend of innovation and functionality.

Our sea kayaking safaris are a very popular Akaroa & Lyttleton shore excursion activity among cruise ship passengers. Please book early to avoid disappointment. We welcome all ages with a good basic level of fitness and anyone can participate as long as you can get in and out of a kayak unassisted. We offer a fun and safe activity for couples, singles, families and groups of friends, there is no better way to make the most of your time in Akaroa & Lyttleton than exploring our pristine marine reserves than by kayak with your own nature guide sharing their knowledge along the way.

We love hosting visitors from the many Cruise Ships who dock in our harbors and are often told that our kayaking safari was the highlight of their NZ trip!

Transport from the port in Akaroa is not required as we are located in walking distance of the port- just a short 10 minute stroll down the street.

If you are coming into Lyttleton Port you can join our Crater Cruiser Sea Kayak Safari.

If you have booked a sea kayaking or Ebike safari with us, please meet approximately 5 minutes before departure, your guide will be there to greet you before you head to the kayaks for a briefing and orientation session.

The bowling club is the meeting point for sea kayaking which is just off the main road through the town of Akaroa.

Directions for walking from Akaroa wharf.

From the main Wharf where the Cruise Ships drop off their passengers and tourist boats depart from, walk off the Wharf and take a LEFT, following the shoreline & past some of Akaora’s bars, shops & restaurants. Keep walking on this footpath passing Akaroa’s beach area and then the BNZ Bank and then the Petrol Station.

Turn left when you get to the cricket pitch/recreational ground, the bowling club is close to the ocean and you will be able to see our kayak trailer from here.  The walk from the main wharf is easy with no hills and will only take around 10 minutes. It’s also a great way to get orientated with our neat little town. Check out the boutique shops, try some amazing coffee in our cafes, or try one of New Zealand’s best pies at our local butcher!

Our trips are scheduled to make sure there is more than enough time to complete the safari and also have a wander around the boutique shops and cafes of Akaroa.

If you are meeting for a mountain Ebike tour we meet at the fire station which is 2 minutes walk from the wharf.
