MS Emilio. Not an experience we would want to repeat. Food was AWFUL. Asked to pay £27 compulsory tips at the beginning of the cruise. Do not pay it. Not worth it. Massage was DREADFULL. Do not waste your money on it. Afternoon tea is pathetic. The worse food we have ever had on holiday. Bring your own snacks!

My wife and I went on a Nile Cruise in Feb 2020 on the Royal Viking, we were sent an Itinerary of the cruise about a week before we left England. So were very surprised the Itinerary had mostly been changed in the order so could net make plans for when we had free time. The food on the boat was not very nice nothing went with anything, you had roast meat but no roast spuds or salad but no meat to go with it. And as for the drinks they were very expensive, £20.00 for house wine, £5 a beer and £2.00 for water. Glad we took a bottle of gin and tonics. The cabin had a very unpleasant smell, we asked to change cabin but the replacement was just as bad, asked for a can of air freshener and given a spray once.

We can not imagine cruising the Nile on any of the other ships we passed - the SS MISR is a beautiful small ship and as a direct result of the crew, guides and guest speaker, we have had the most magical time imaginable. We would like to extend especial thanks to the ship's manager, Haney, and his team – Haney was ever smiling and ensuring everyone was sanitised before entering the dining room. His enthusiasm for the food being served ensured we always tried something new from the menu. Continuing with our food theme, the Head Chef, Toba produced fantastic food at every meal service – in two weeks, eating three times each day, there wasn’t a single time that we couldn’t find something we truly loved eating! Between Haney and Toba, they gently introduced us to Egyptian cuisine and it was always delicious. Combine this enthusiasm with the strictest hygiene routines and we were all tucking in to the fresh fruit and salads that could often be off-limits for our delicate Western tummies! We were massively impressed to see that the ship was supporting local communities with more fresh produce on our travels. Haney’s service team were also fantastic – not only attending to and remembering our favourites, but also entertaining us in the process of serving our meals and refreshments. The whole team appeared to work together as a harmonious family and we would especially like to thank Mohssen, Adam, YaYa, Hussein and Mamood who were ever-smiling and friendly. Our cabins were efficiently cleaned by the cabin ‘boys’ under the supervision of Ahmed and between them, we were again entertained to a daily surprise in the Cabin. Daily supplies of bottled water were provided in the rooms and on every excursion - I have noted that on some cruises you have to pay extra for water? Crazy in such a hot country! We heard that several guests had specifically chosen the cruise to hear George Hart, and his lectures were an interesting expansion of our knowledge on all things Ancient Egyptian. George also proved to be an entertaining dining companion too. Guides Mohammed and Sherif not only put together a fantastic itinerary, they also ensured that our on-shore visits were planned at the best time to avoid the majority of other cruise passengers, meaning that we lost minimal time standing in lines and have taken most of our photographs with ‘empty’ tombs and temples. And as for the balloon ride organised by Mohammed, I think we had the BEST balloon captain on the day – he manouvered the basket so that all passengers were able to see the sights he described and he found the best use of wind to steer us over so many landmarks and local views. We landed perfectly and had the land team waiting to drive us back to the boat. Our guides also organised additional activities such as a cookery demonstration and bird watching – they went above and beyond their guiding remit to educate and entertain us. They are both so passionate about their country and its history. Our coach driver, Milad, followed our boat from Cairo to Aswan and was always on hand to look after us and sanitise us every time we made it back to the bus. He was especially good at remembering names and faces too. While we appreciated everything that was arranged for our personal safety while we were on the boat (hygiene and security), it is not until we have returned home that we truly appreciate the incredibly safe haven we had occupied over the previous 14 days. We absolutely loved our two weeks on the ship - it was a small group of passengers (about 34 of us) and we were the youngest on board. We all seemed to gel in a way that made a great atmosphere on-board, while not feeling the need to become best friends with everyone around. We had wondered if we would find enough to do on the 3-full days of cruising, but with several early morning starts and the gentle past time of watching the local farmers at work and waving at excited children in every village, the time passed all too quickly. The decor of the cabin and public areas has an Agatha Chistie-esque faded grandure which was both comfortable and public areas spacious. Cabins are well equipped, although storage limited. I think this ship has been used in the past for 5-7 day cruises and could do with some upgrades to accommodate luggage on a 14-day trip. Although in hindsight, laundry services are very fast and reasonably priced so you could easily travel with less clothing than we did. Was lovely to have a bath and over-bath shower options and masses of hot water whenever we needed it. If you're planning to visit Egypt, don't think about any other boat!

Many search the net to find reviews from specific cruise ships that sail on the Nile. Having been there recently, I can tell you that there are hundreds of ships, mostly 3 stars sold as 5 star cruises and that it is nearly impossible for the tour agencies to know each ones condition. They also know only a few days ahead of time which ship they will be placing you on depending on the number of passengers needed to fill a ship and the profits they will make. None of the ships are very recent unless you are willing to pay for a luxury cruise in the higher price range. Given what we paid for, our only expectation was cleanliness and proper equipment. The food was average, but the service was always friendly and welcoming. It is unfortunate however that you need to pay for bottled water and are not allowed to bring your own. Our ship was the Beau Soleil. Overall, we were satisfied, but again, for our standards, it was more a 3 star than 5 star accommodation.

As tour leader of Spices International, a 47-tour group visiting Egypt from February 17th through February 26th, 2020, I am writing to give accolades to you tour manager and his assigned tour guides. Our group has travelled worldwide and have experienced many tour guides as a private group tour. I can truly state that your team was the best we’ve ever experienced. Your staff consisting of Remon Rizk, Tarek Sarhan, and Mazen were amazing. As a large group, everything was coordinated in advance without any issue. Remon made sure we were truly welcomed and serviced as VIP’s. Our Nile cruise staff were professional and did everything to service our group. Not only did we returned to our cabins service but decorated everyday with streamers, party lights, and fresh fruit. Our meals were tasty and was given a variety of cuisine options. The staff ( Rami) in your jewelry department and clothing store were excellent and in turn my group bought everything in the store. Our tour guides were knowledgeable, social, and conducted all tours professionally. On leaving Egypt, my group felt as if we were leaving family. I can only end by stating that your guides were excellent and left us no need for anything during our visit to your beautiful country. We look forward to planning another tour in the future using your river cruise Company.. Yours truly, Wavenie B Tour Leader

Amazing, exceeds my expectations, we traveled with family and friends, we had with us 2,7,8 years old kids, they did enjoy this trip as much as we did. Service, food were amazing, and our guide Rami was fantastic, everyone in the cruise were so good to our kids, always smiling and they were amazing.

Ms emilio Nile cruise

We had visited the Nile on a previous trip and so looked forward to a return visit. We stayed one week in Hurgharda in the Labranda Royal Makadi Bay which was excellent, interspace by a week on the Nile. The Nile itself is amazing. The temples and ruins are worth visiting. The people were friendly and the guides knowledgeable. But, and it's a big but, do not bother going on the MS Emilio. The ship is one of the few remaining boats currently working the Nile. Find another boat. The Emilio is only worth putting in for salvage. On our arrival we were met by the friendly guides, porters took our luggage and we were put in a very dated, smelly bar area. Caution beware the step as you go into this area, as it can't be seen with the poor lighting. We were then told we had to pay £27.00 per person for tips for the week. Now I had no objections to paying g for the tips beforehand as I expected the same level of service e we had had at the Labranda. Boy, was I wrong. I really don't know where to begin, but here goes 1. Unfriendly rude staff 2. Dirty plates, cutlery, glasses 3. Inedible food some days. Other days were just about edible 4. Dirty cramped dark cabins. 5. Toilets which were broken, sinks which wouldn't drain away, no hot water 6. This is a big one - various trip hazards with loose carpets, unfixed parquet type flooring on the sun deck, missing handrails and the handrails which were there were so dirty if you ran your hand down them there was a black greasy residue. 7. Pushy over enthusiastic staff constantly trying to get you to part with money for pictures and videos which are poor quality and expensive. 8. Watered down drinks I could go on but I really do advise anyone who is thinking of going down the Nile to avoid this boat. We booked through Broadway Travlel but I am aware that the Daily Mail is still advertising this holiday. The agents in Egypt were Meeting Point and they were terrible. When we arrived in Hurgharda we were told we had to pay for a visa which was £5.00 more per person than the Egyptian authorities said was payable. They even positioned staff iin front of the visa vending machine which charged £22 per person, saying we Brutish could not use the machine, we had to go to the Meeting Point agent. It was over ten years since we last did this cruise and the Emilio definitely has put us off ever visiting the Nile again.

We went on the Royal Viking vessel for a 7 day cruise down the Nile. We'd done it before so only pted for 2 excursions being a 2 hour fellukha sail across to Kitcheners Island and a 2 hour horse n carriage ride round Luxor both lovely and good value. The cruise itself was unbelievable value being full board and the food was lovely. We bought our drinks on board and was surprised at how little our bill as at the end ! A lovely boat with only 66 cabins. We had 422 being on the top deck of cabins. It was all timber panelled walls with fully opening patio windows to our Juliette balcony. What a view every morning of the Nile and or various places we visited like Aswan, Edfu, Luxor etc. Every night was party night and such good fun. The Gala evening was special and a really great laugh with most fellow passengers joining in the party fun. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout all meal times. Was good to have afternoon tea/coffee n cake at 4pm on the top deck. The top sun deck was beautiful to either just watch the world float by, read a book in the lovely sun and/or read a book. A truly lovely experience and would repeat it again in a couple of years just to re-live it all again. We bought the DVD of the cruise which certainly makes us laugh with such happy memories. Well done to all concerned being all the staff, waiters, crew and those hidden behind the scenes. It was also good to help the Captain "drive" the boat one day. Marvelous all round trip.

The cruise ship is grand and has all facilities as mentioned on their website. We checked in on 22nd Dec amidst total chaos at the Reception area. No one had a clue regarding the cabin to be allocated to us and it took me couple of hours to get the keys (2pm to 4pm) though cabin key is supposed to be handed over by 12 noon as per their policy. Since we landed quite early (around 9am) we undertook an optional tour to Nubian Village and we were back at the Cruise by 2pm. The cruise folks had organized belly dance and dervish dance by local artistes. The belly dance lasted just 15 mins and the artiste seemed to be in a tearing hurry to just run away. The performance was below par. On the 2nd night, there was no activity organized by the Cruise management and we had to conduct the games ourselves. It was repeated on 3rd night too though it was X'mas eve. There was nothing planned for the guests, which was surprising. On the positive side the staff was very friendly and their service was very quick. The buffet spread for B/L/D was very good but sometimes the Q used to get very long for comfort, as the cruise was full. They could have planned to have 2 lines instead of 1. The sun deck was a great place to hangout during the afternoon tea at 3:30pm. We also got a chance to visit the Captain's cabin to understand how they operate the ship. Wifi is charged USD25 and some games are charged. Overall it was a good experience though activity or entertainment wise they need to do something very seriously.

Pls do not compare the sonesta moon goddess cruise ship with the giant cruise ships. This ship can carry around 150 passengers with nice balconies for each room. Excellent service from all the staff Top down. I specifically mention 2 ultra caring staff : Atef Khalil Essa : Front Office Manager Mokhles Zakaria : Restaurant Rooms are very well equipped and comfortable Food is truly excellent Pls do expect a luxury but a very comfortable very welcome service.

The worst holiday experience we have had to endure! The lower deck cabins are not fit for human habitation. There is a strong stink of diesel combined I am sure with carbon monoxide and very load engine noise. The food was poor served by rude waiters

Great experience, we booked through Travel-in which is what you get if book through the website, everything was as expected and the trip itself the natural scenery the temples are of course outstanding The ship should be 5 stars, however it's not the most glamorous , however no complain everything is clean, tidy and in working order, staff very friendly. tour guide was very helpful as well, I've 13 and 10 years old kids they LOVED IT. It was full board, 3 decent meals, drinks and water not included , however they charged less than 10 Egp (.25$) for it, so it was ok. we extended an extra day to see Abu Simbel which was definitely worth it.

Day 1: Embarkation and Luxor East Bank Tour

We will board MS Emilio Nile Cruise, a luxury Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan, after meeting our agent at the airport or Luxor train station. Start the itinerary exploring the tours of Luxor's east bank as you begin your first day trip in Egypt. The first day on board will be spent visiting the temples of Luxor and Karnak.

We've heard that taking a boat is the best way to see these places, so that's what we'll do. We'll start at the huge Karnak temple , where you can visit the historic ruins and learn about the area's past. You'll also have time to visit the neighborhood, which offers a great view of Thebes, and the Karnak Open Air Museum.

Next, we will go to  Luxor Temple , one of the most famous structures in Egypt. Although this temple was built during the New Kingdom period (1539-1075 BC), it was a place of worship for a very long time before that. There are many temples in the area to visit on this day, some of which are dedicated to Egyptian deities such as Isis or Horus.

You can walk through the professional way that connects between Karnak and Luxor temples where the sacred barks of god Amen and his triad were carried by the priests through this way from Karnak temple to visit Luxor temple where the actual festival of Opet occurred there.

You will then return to your cruise and overnight there.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Luxor west bank tour - Sail to Esna

You can take a hot air balloon ride in Luxor in the early morning (optional).

We will see the Luxor west bank tour today. The temple of Queen Hatshepsut , popularly known as Deir el-Bahri, will be our first stop. Since its erection in the fifteenth century BC, it has been known as the temple of the daughter of King Thutmose III. The temple was built to celebrate and honor Amen, who had helped Hatshepsut become pharaoh by giving her a divine father figure in the form of Amen himself.

The next stop is the Valley of the Kings , a necropolis with several tombs belonging to the kings and aristocracy of the New Kingdom of Egypt (1550-1069 BC). These include the tombs of Tutankhamun, Ramses II, and Seti I.

Then we will go to the colossi Memnon , two huge stone statues of Amenhotep III that were moved to their present location in the 19th century CE.

Travel via Esna to Edfu and overnight at Esea.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Edfu Excursion, sail to Kom Ombo

We will spend some time exploring the historic towns of Kom Ombo and Edfu. Two of Egypt's most important temples are located here, the Temple of Horus and the Temple of Sobek.

You will begin your day by visiting the Temple of Horus in Edfu . Some of the best Egyptian art and architecture can be found here. Horus, the god of heaven and monarchy with a hawk's head, was the centerpiece of the temple built by Pharaoh Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285-246 BC). You will then go to Kom Ombo , where you will discover the importance of this place in relation to the desire of King Ramses II to unify Egypt (1279-1213 BC).

Then, you will go back down the Nile and finish your fantastic trip with a visit to Aswan.

Day 4: Aswan tours and Overnight in Aswan

We will be in Aswan for the entire day. You will go to the Aswan High Dam , which prevents 90% of the water in Lake Nasser from flowing out. You will have the opportunity to learn the history of the dam and how it was built. Standing at the top of the dam, take a picture of the longest river in the world flowing underneath.

Next, you'll see the enormous Temple of Philae , which was carved out of granite rock. You'll also see the impressive Temple of Isis, one of only two remaining temples on the island of Philae, and the Unfinished Obelisk , which Ramses II started but never finished before he died.

Then enjoy your free time as you please. Dinner aboard the Tosca Nile Cruise in the evening before spending the night in Aswan.

Day 5: Disembarkation

Unfortunately, the fifth day of your sailing onboard MS Emilio along the Nile from Luxor to Aswan is coming to an end, but not before having another delicious breakfast on board.

( fakultativ )

3.Tag Edfu / Kom Ombo

Genießen Sie einfach Ihren letzten Tag in Luxor.

( fakultativ )

MS Emilio Nile Cruise

just got back from our 7 day cruise from luxor. fair to say the boat is old but boy do the staff work hard at keeping it clean. everything worked including the air conditioning all meals were buffet style but plenty of choice and all well cooked and tasty. no cases of tummy upsets. wine and beer were very reasonably priced, bottle of egyptian red was only E£200 and was perfectly adequate, ive had far worse wine. wifi was pretty poor and only works in reception and UK£25 for 7 days isn’t worth it

We took this 3 nights cruise from Aswan to Luxor. We were in standard room on full board basis. This was pretty relaxing trip. Room was nice and spacious. Food was great and I loved that fact that they changed the variety in every meal. Staffs were courteous. However, a couple of those irritated us with their ask of Baksheesh even before they kept our luggage in. The terrace nice and pleasant to sit on. Things which they could have done better was the bar menu and Wi-Fi. They had no standard cocktails and they didn't even serve sheesha! For Wi-Fi, there was not even the option.

This boat is very tired and definitely needs refurnishing. The towels that were once white are now grey. Cleaning is very superficial. The cruising itself was lovely. It is however very disappointing to have the boat blocked in by others where it stops. From your window you look into another boat. The air conditioning did not work - was fixed on the second day. Definitely not for the discerning traveller.

Recently returned after a two week holiday in Egypt with first week on the royal Viking If you are contemplating a cruise and stay our experience indicates cruise first beach second week. Getting and returning is a slog. 5 hours each way including one comfort break. This should improve as new road being built linking Hurghada and Luxor. The ship was built 2009 but was laid up for 5 years due to revolution. Cabins spacious cool and comfortable. Tips are covered at your welcome meeting. £27 per person but this is then split across the ships company. A fair and regulated system. Crew very friendly and helpful. Evening entertainment some nights is good and fun. You can upgrade to AI for £130 per person. Water has to be purchased 20le about 80p per 2ltrs. Beer 75le about £3. One non drinker and one light drinker weeks bill came to £70. The choice is yours Restaurant is excellent with three great meals a day with 6-8 choices with 2 soups salad bar and desert buffet. We totally enjoyed our cruise and having spoken with passengers from other boats the royal Viking is the jewel on the Nile and we are considering returning just to cruise. Leave the rest sail on the best. On the excursion package be prepared for early starts. There are imperative to your comfort and experience. The group we were with were blessed by an incredible guide from the meeting point organisation. Mageed Habib (known as magic) is absolutely outstanding. His knowledge, passion and pride in what he does is totally outstanding. His skill transports you back into ancient Egypt and the lives he was explaining. A truly extraordinary individual. I hope if you book he is your guide.

Just loved it. The cruise boat was just splendid. Buffet food excellent, staff friendly & helpful. Cabins were clean and spacious, beds very comfortable. Really enjoyed the experience and would definately do it again.

Second time on board this ship with a gap of 15 years in between. Nothing has changed. The ship is very tiered . But so are 99% of the ships on the Nile. The experience is breath taking . The food is basic because it's Egypt and remember there are no big food stores , so it's chicken and beef daily. They have a one of tip system , so you pay £50 gbp per couple this is divided between every one . But does that stop them , no it doesn't, The staff go all out the day before leaving to butter you up for individual tips, chef has plates of cover d food under the serving counter , just for you !,,, But worst were the guys in navy, When you go to get on the bus to leave, you luggage is by bus, the guys in blue are suppose to load your case, they identifie your luggage then stick their hand out for money and won't load it until you pay them. Isn't it time this was controlled, it's nasty and causes problems. Do not go out on your own, it's not safe . You will be followed and hasselled constantly. We saw horses collapsed on the streets. The people who try to make a living from tourist need educating, The country is backward and filthy. But to see the reliqics of their more clever ansestors you have to be exposes to this kind of carry on. Internet is 25.00 gbp per week on board and patchy. Drinks are reasonable . Staff present to be nice for tips at the end up and above what you hav already paid. So not take your children it's not suitable .

This ship is old and interesting. As such it differs from other cruise ships on the Nile. We were only 11 people on the 1 week trip Luxor/Aswan/Luxor, i think it carries about 40 when full. As a consequence, there was an abundance of staff and they were all lovely.
