PGA EuroPro Tour to shut down at the end of this season

The PGA EuroPro Tour, Europe’s leading developmental tour for professional golfers, is to shut down at the end of this season in response to what the tour’s organiser, Matchroom Sport, described as a ‘changing economic landscape of increasing costs and changing habits of the worldwide audience’.

The tour’s final will be the Matchroom Sport Tour Championship, which is being held at Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland between October 19-21.

Speaking in a statement published by the PGA EuroPro Tour, CEO Daniel Godding said:  “In a market evolving quickly the PGA EuroPro Tour feels the impact of changing global investment, media and sponsorship. The economic landscape of increasing costs and the changing habits of the worldwide audience means it has become clear that unfortunately there is no longer the support nor demand in the market to operate the PGA EuroPro Tour.”

He added: “With many Major, European and PGA Tour wins and Ryder Cup appearances by previous members, the tour has proudly created a legacy and has driven forward the brand and image of European golf. The purpose of the PGA EuroPro was to develop the very best talent in the sport and prepare them for the next stage in their careers. As a direct affiliate to the European Tour, the PGA EuroPro offered five Challenge Tour cards for the following season and has proudly promoted over 100 golfers to the next level.

“The PGA EuroPro Tour has provided a world class service to its members, offering a stepping stone and media experience like no other tour. But in recent times, the sports environment has evolved drastically, and it has proven difficult for the PGA EuroPro Tour to operate. We are sad to bring an era to its end, but we are delighted that we have helped so many realise their dreams.”

The EuroPro Tour was set up  in 2002 following the merger of EuroPro Tour and the PGA MasterCard Tour, with the Professional Golfers’ Association and Barry Hearn’s Matchroom Sport joined forces to create one tour for all aspiring young tour players.   The top five finishers on the EuroPro Tour Order of Merit win a tour card for the following season on Europe’s second-tier tour, the Challenge Tour, and a place at the Stage Two of the DP World Tour Qualifying School. Since 2015, Official World Golf Ranking points have been awarded, with four points given to the winner of a tournament.

The tour, which is based mainly in the UK, featured 16 events on its 2022 season schedule, with prize funds of around £50,000 on offer at each event, with the winner’s prize is set at £12,500. The end-of-season Tour Championship has a £102,000 prize fund, with £25,000 going to the winner. Entry fees for each tournament were £295, with field sizes set at around 135.

Through the years, the likes of Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Aaron Rai, Tyrrell Hatton, Marcus Armitage and Richard Mansell all took early steps in their journey on the developmental circuit.

Matchroom Sport and PGA EuroPro Tour President Barry Hearn commented: “I have been honoured to have created the PGA EuroPro Tour alongside Sandy Jones of the PGA and to watch the development of so many aspiring and inspiring professional golfers. Sadly, in these changing times for professional golf support for Europes’ biggest development tour has not been sufficient to justify its continuation.”

Hearn added: “I must offer my eternal gratitude to Dan Godding and his team at the PGA EuroPro Tour, the PGA, our broadcasters Sky Sports and the golf clubs and volunteers in both the UK and Europe without whom we would never have created so many opportunities for next generation of professional golfers.”

Sky Sports are the title sponsors of the 2017 HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour Championship which takes place at the award winning Amendoeira Golf Resort, in Portugal from Tuesday October 24 – Thursday October 26.

The EuroPro Tour’s Sky Sports Tour Championship sees the top 60 players compete for a prize fund of £100,000 with £22,500 going to the winner after 54 holes.

The best players on Europe’s leading developmental tour will be competing to seal their place in the top five on the Race to Amendoeira at the end of the event and earn themselves a Challenge Tour card for 2018.

Chris Lloyd (The Kendleshire) could make EuroPro Tour history with a win in Amendoeria. Not only would he be the only player in the Tour’s history to win four events in one season, but he will also collect the lucrative £250,000 bonus for the feat.

Elsewhere, South Korean teenage sensation MK Kim (Golfmind Korea) – who already made history this season as the youngest player to ever win a EuroPro Tour event at 16 years old – could further cement his rookie season as one of the Tour’s best with a win in Portugal, which would bring his tally to three wins this season.

The event will be filmed for a two-hour highlights package to air on Sky Sports in the UK in November.

Barry Hearn, Chairman of the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour, said: “We are delighted to be once again working with our good friends at Sky Sports. Our relationship has been a close one over the years and involved many of our fantastic sports including darts, snooker, boxing, and golf.

“The Sky Sports Tour Championship is going to bring an exciting finish to the 2017 EuroPro season, showcasing some of the best upcoming golf talent from around the world. The EuroPro Tour has a proven track record in developing some of Europe’s top golfers.”

Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports, said: “We are thrilled to be title sponsors of the EuroPro Tour’s Championship in Portugal. Many of today’s top European golfers started their professional careers on the EuroPro Tour, including the likes of Tyrrell Hatton and Jordan Smith. As the importance of the Tour continues to grow, we’re pleased to strengthen our partnership even further.”

Spectator entry is free of charge throughout and live scoring will be available atwww.europrotour.com. Highlights from the Sky Sports Championship at Amendoeira Golf Resort will air on Sky Sports Golf in November.

Heartbreak for golfers as PGA EuroPro Tour to end after 20 years

PGA EuroPro Tour has decided to call 2022 its final season.

europro tour on sky sports

PGA EuroPro Tour has confirmed the sad news that 2022 will be its last ever season having hosted tournaments for the stars of tomorrow for 20 years.

The circuit first began in 2002 as a partnership between Sandy Jones and the PGA's Mastercard Tour and Barry Hearn and Matchroom Sport's EuroPro Golf Tour.

Since then, some of the game's brightest talents have come through the EuroPro Tour ranks such as major champions and now LIV Golf players Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, six-time DP World Tour winner Tyrrell Hatton and rising stars Richard Mansell, Marcus Armitage and Aaron Rai.

Heartbreak for golfers as PGA EuroPro Tour to end after 20 years

In total, the PGA EuroPro Tour, which has offered five Challenge Tour cards for the following season, has promoted over 100 golfers to the next level.

According to PGA EuroPro Tour CEO Daniel Godding, "the economic landscape of increasing costs and the changing habits of the worldwide audience means it has become clear that unfortunately there is no longer the support nor demand in the market to operate the PGA EuroPro Tour."

This season's final event will be the Matchroom Sport Tour Championship at Lough Erne Resort between 19th and 21st October, where the top five at the end of the event will be promoted to the Challenge Tour for 2023.

Godding published a lengthy statement to reveal the heartbreaking news for Tour professionals earlier today, which you can read in full below:

The 2022 season will be the final year for The PGA EuroPro Tour. After more than 20 years of offering opportunity and shaping the next generation of professional golfer, our journey sadly ends. From the bottom of our hearts, thanks to everyone! https://t.co/HpUiDeJw8L — PGA EuroPro Tour (@PGAEuroProTour) September 28, 2022

After what has been a phenomenal 20 years of developing many of Europe’s best professional golfers, the PGA EuroPro Tour has decided to make 2022 the final season.

In a market evolving quickly the PGA EuroPro Tour feels the impact of changing global investment, media and sponsorship. The economic landscape of increasing costs and the changing habits of the worldwide audience means it has become clear that unfortunately there is no longer the support nor demand in the market to operate the PGA EuroPro Tour.

The Tour first opened its doors in 2002 as a partnership between Sandy Jones and the PGA’s Mastercard Tour and Barry Hearn and Matchroom Sport’s EuroPro Golf Tour. The success was immediately realised with members Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and John E Morgan   with more recently the likes of Aaron Rai, Tyrrell Hatton, Marcus Armitage and Richard Mansell   using the developmental design and progression pathway to springboard their careers on to the European and PGA circuits.

With many Major, European and PGA Tour wins and Ryder Cup appearances by previous members, the tour has proudly created a legacy and has driven forward the brand and image of European golf.

The PGA EuroPro Tour has provided a world class service to its members offering a stepping stone and media experience like no other tour. But in recent times, the sports environment has evolved drastically, and it has proven difficult for the PGA EuroPro Tour to operate. We are sad to bring an era to its end, but we are delighted that we have helped so many realise their dreams.

We wish everyone the best of success in the years to come and we’re excited to see where our past and current members can take their games. We’d like to use this opportunity to thank all our staff and PGA Members, all our partners from the 20 years who have made it possible and every golf club and volunteer who has been so hospitable when the PGA EuroPro Tour has come to town.

Matchroom Sport and PGA EuroPro Tour President Barry Hearn added –

“I have been honoured to have created the PGA EuroPro Tour alongside Sandy Jones of the PGA and to watch the development of so many aspiring and inspiring professional golfers.

Sadly, in these changing times for professional golf support for Europes’ biggest development tour has not been sufficient to justify its continuation but I must stress my eternal gratitude to Dan Godding and his team at the PGA EuroPro Tour, the PGA, our broadcasters Sky Sports and the golf clubs and volunteers in both the UK and Europe without whom we would never have created so many opportunities for next generation of professional golfers.”

Robert Maxfield, Chief Executive of the PGA added: –

“I would like to thank and congratulate Matchroom for successfully operating The PGA EuroPro Tour for so many years. A number of today’s global golf stars owe a huge debt of gratitude to The PGA EuroPro Tour for providing them with the opportunity to realise their dreams. It is sad that this will be the last season of The PGA EuroPro Tour but we can all look back with great pride on what has been achieved over the last 20 years.”

Our Final event will be the Matchroom Sport Tour Championship at Lough Erne Resort between 19th and 21st October, where the top 5 at the end of the event will be promoted to the Challenge Tour for 2023.

John E Morgan And Kit Alexander

John E Morgan and Kit Alexander have formed an entertaining and insightful partnership on PGA EuroPro Tour coverage on Sky Sports Golf in recent years and their new podcast – Filthy Lipout – has exploded onto the scene since its launch last July.

Filthy Lipout has already featured some incredible guests, including Sam Torrance, Thomas Bjorn, Niall Horan, Nicolas Colsaerts, Nick Dougherty and Billy Foster, and they’ve got some very big names lined up in the near future.

Their enthusiasm for golf and connection with their guests shines through and it’s produced some of the most honest, interesting and humorous conversations you’ll ever hear.

We had a chat with two of the most entertaining people in golf broadcasting to find out a bit more about Filthy Lipout, their backgrounds and their unique dynamic.

First off, what were you guys doing before you started presenting the PGA EuroPro Tour?

JM: I picked up a club when I was six and it escalated from there. I played for my club, Somerset and England and then decided to turn professional in 2002. I got both my PGA and European Tour cards by the end of the year. The highlight would have to be the John Deere Classic in 2004 – the whole buzz of holing a long putt on 18 and being in a play-off. The fans pulled me along all day. Me and Mark Hensby went head-to-head and, unfortunately, I came up a bit shy. I had some other great events too. I died my hair blue when I was in America and had a great time. My playing career was a short burst. I’ve got epilepsy and had a few accidents and that forced me to put down the clubs in 2011. Luckily for me, the PGA EuroPro Tour, Sky Sports and the European Tour gave me the chance to show I could talk a good game as well as play one.

europro tour on sky sports

KA: I remember seeing John’s blue hair when I first got into golf at that time. I’m a journalist, rather than a former player. I started off in 2008 writing for Today’s Golfer and Golf World magazines. Dan Godding gave me the opportunity to do the player interviews on the EuroPro Tour in 2013 and it grew from there. I continued to write, but I started doing more broadcast work, getting in front of the camera and doing on-course commentary with the EuroPro and appearing as a guest on the Sky Sports Golf and European Tour podcasts in the last few years.

How did you first meet each other?

JM: The EuroPro was at Burhill early in 2013 and Kit was doing some interviews by the side of the 18 th green. That was the first time we really rubbed shoulders. We bonded straight away. We were both new at it, doing our thing and trying to learn the ropes.

KA: It was funny because the first few years we didn’t see each other that much in person because usually John would be filming his stuff on the Thursday and I’d be there on the Friday for the final day. I remember that first meeting at Burhill because I was speaking to James Hepworth, I think, and John knew him pretty well so he came over and was having a laugh and a joke. John was stood behind me trying to put James off during the interview. Fortunately, I didn’t see anything myself but apparently his techniques over my shoulder were somewhat X-rated!

What role has working on the PGA EuroPro Tour played in where you are now?

KA: It’s been massive for both of us. I know I wouldn’t be doing what I am now without it. I was a writer until Dan put me in front of a camera talking to players. I don’t know if or when I’d have looked at doing more broadcast work if it weren’t for that opportunity. I quickly realised I loved it and I was able to learn the ropes and improve in an amazing environment. The producer James Dawson, all the camera crew, the players, and the whole EuroPro family have played a part in where I am now.

JM: I’d say it’s experience and feeling comfortable in your surroundings with the other players. It’s a great place to get to know the young rookies when they come out on tour and how to interact with them when they’re nervous and approaching some of the older guys who play like Paul Lawrie and Phil Price. I learnt my craft for what I do now as an on-courser with Sky. I also learnt to pause, so you don’t rush it, because the more you get ahead of yourself you can stutter a bit or get conflicted with the words you’re going to use. You’ve got to be natural and relaxed like you’re talking to your mates.

How would you describe one another?

JM: I’ll let Kit answer that one first.

KA: I would describe John as everybody’s best mate. He genuinely puts a smile on people’s faces and brings energy to any situation. We’re very different people but a lot of the traits I’d like to see more in myself are the ones that John has – he’s the life and soul of the party and doesn’t care what other people think as long as he’s happy and putting a smile on the faces of the people around him. At the end of the day, he’s great bloke and a good person.

JM: I’d reiterate that back at you. You’ve definitely got attributes I wish I had, like being able to think a bit quicker and a bit more savvy about some things. He’s ahead of the game with his homework for interviews, whereas I’m a bit more off the wall. He’s very approachable and I love his passion for the game. He’s a proper geek when it comes to golf. Really and honestly, if there’s something I don’t know I can guarantee he will and he’ll know it in detail. He enlightens me and anyone around with a good buzz and good energy. I’d say we’re a match made in heaven – opposites attract.

How did the Filthy Lipout podcast come about?

JM: It came about in the original lockdown, as a lot of things have. I had a chat with Kit and said ‘do you fancy starting a podcast?’. Straight away it was bang, ‘yes’. Then we had to decide what to call it.

KA: It was almost a bit of an afterthought that we needed to come up with a name quite quickly. I was out on a bike ride with my girlfriend, Amy, and she was riding just ahead of me and I was shouting weird golf terminology and ideas for names at her as they popped into my head. Funnily enough, I think Filthy Lipout was the first one I shouted. But we put it out on social media, asked our friends and got a really long list of cool ideas. We whittled it down and did votes and Filthy Lipout was the winner.

JM: The nice thing was that we put it out to the people and ultimately Filthy Lipout was what the public chose.

Who has been your favourite guest so far?

JM: I can’t call one in particular. They’re all so unique. We’re so lucky. We’ve done 19 episodes so far and we’ve had some amazing guests agree to come on and give us their time. I feel very privileged to work and rub shoulders with these guys and to be able to phone them up and ask them if they fancy having a chat and bringing out some old stories.

KA: It’s wonderful to be able to have these in-depth, deep and meaningful and also funny and entertaining conversations with so many different people. It’s the diversity of those people that makes it hard to pick a favourite and makes it so good. We’ve got everything from the stories of Sam Torrance, Rich Beem and Billy Foster, to current tour players like Bob MacIntyre, Paul Waring and Aaron Rai, the Ryder Cup tales of Thomas Bjorn, Nicolas Colsaerts and Chris Wood and the analysis and personal stories of guys like Nick Dougherty and Andrew Coltart who’ve played to a high level and now work as broadcasters. We’ve even had global superstar Niall Horan on to talk about his love of golf. Everyone has a great story to tell and their own way of seeing the world and I feel privileged that we’re able hopefully unlock that and share it.

europro tour on sky sports

JM: Both of us can talk the hind legs of a donkey so having a podcast where everyone else is doing most of the talking, it can be hard not to dive in, but the stories are so captivating that you can just sit back and enjoy the show. They come up with so many pearlers, you just think ‘this is heaven’.

KA: Some of the best bits for me have been when I’ve been able to sit back and just listen to John chatting with the guys he knows from the amateur days and early on tour. Some of those stories from John reminiscing with an old friend are absolute gold.

JM: The thing is, they can remember, and I can’t!

Why do you think you work so well as a pair?

KA: John has already mentioned it – opposites attract. We’ve both said there’s traits and attributes in the other person that we wish we had more of.

JM: Height is definitely one for you.

KA: True, I’d definitely like to be as tall as John. But maybe not as wide. But we bring out the best in each other and we both bring something the other person might not have, so as a team it works well. Aside from that, just because we’ve got such a great friendship it’s all wrapped up in us just having a great time together. Hopefully that comes across.

JM: I’m a bit of a wind-up merchant behind the scenes and I really know how to push Kit’s buttons. It’s really good.

What’s the most amazing golf trip you’ve done together?

JM: I like it when we get to play a lot of golf like when we get a few days together at the EuroPro Tour Champs. We can have a game on the golf course because I think you get a better understanding of the course for the coverage when you’ve played it. We’ve been very fortunate as well that Massey Travel hired me to go and do clinics at a couple of places and I got to bring Kit on board, which was handy. We went to the Maldives in 2019, which was brilliant, and Mexico in January 2020. We were there together for just under a week and got to play some golf, so that was heaven.

europro tour on sky sports

KA: John’s picked them out there. The Maldives was only a short-ish nine-hole course but what an experience in general. Mexico was great fun because we got to meet a lot of local golfers and help them improve. Seeing their faces light up when they hit so much better shots than they could have imagined was really special. The entertainment away from the course in Mexico was great as well. The EuroPro Tour Championship is always a great week, too.

What’s your favourite story from when you’ve been on your travels?

KA: the first one that springs to mind was last year at the EuroPro Tour Champs at Desert Springs in Spain. We were staying in a beautiful villa by the 2nd green with producer James Dawson and a couple of his mates who are playing the pro-am. We get there and dump the bags and as soon as they hit the floor John strips off, runs out the back door and jumps straight into the pool stark-b*llock naked. He has us all in stitches laughing to start the week. What a legend!

JM: I do things like that for the shock factor and good team morale! Mine is going to be from Mexico. We had a day off and they sent us on a whale watching excursion. Two Humpbacks came up right by the boat and they stayed with us for ages, going on their sides and rolling, dipping under the boat on one side and popping up on the other. It was an absolute dream. Even the guides were taking videos because they’d never seen anything like it before. Golfing-wise I really enjoyed playing the par-3 course under the floodlights at Amendoeira in Portugal.

KA: Yeah, that’s a lot of fun and two really good courses there.

JM: Actually, there’s another one. We were at Desert Springs with the EuroPro and Kit and producer James lost a bet to me. The par-3 14th is a beautiful hole played across a lake. They had to strip down to their undies – I’d have gone full bore myself – and swim to the other side then hit their shots onto the green and swim back. It just so happened thar Sir Ian Botham, who has a villa there, was getting to the tee as they did it. The clubs were slipping out their hands and the balls ended up in the water with Beefy laughing in the background.

What’s it like to play golf together?

JM: Interesting. Kit gets frustrated very quickly when things aren’t going his way because he feels like he can do a lot better. But then we all can.

KA: I’ve definitely mellowed with age. It’s all about having fun for me now, I try not to care about the score too much.

JM: You are improving. I could see a massive difference in your game in Mexico and you were playing some good golf.

KA: From my perspective, it’s a treat to play with John. The opportunity to play with a tour pro who’s played on the PGA and European Tour is what most amateurs dream of. I get to do it pretty regularly and he happens to be one of my best mates, which is amazing. The shots John is able to pull off and the ease with which he does it are a different game to what I play. John is such a gifted shot-makers and it’s just great to watch up close and personal. I get to see incredible shots and have a laugh as we go around, so what more would you want? Actually, he could give me more shots!

europro tour on sky sports

JM: It’s interesting that a lot of people focus on technique and when you play with me there isn’t much technique involved. I’m not thinking of anything. I’m very visual so I try and get a bit of my game to rub off on Kit.

What else are you guys working on at the moment?

JM: I’ve started a YouTube channel so trying to get that up and running. I’ve got a simulator and Foresight launch monitor set up at home and I’ve started doing some teaching as well. I’m loving doing the podcasts and the on-course commentary with Sky Sports on the European Tour and looking forward to getting back on the EuroPro Tour this year, where it all began.

KA: The podcast has been great, and I love being a part of the EuroPro Tour. I’ve started doing videos and writing for Golf Monthly recently as well. I also presented the Challenge Tour Grand Final in Mallorca at the end last year, so I might well be popping up on some of their coverage this year.

JM: Hopefully there’s more of the same ahead. We’re happy with what we’re doing, and it’d be great to work with Kit on the European Tour. We’d love to see the Filthy Lipout podcast keep escalating and we’re open for guests and sponsorship, if people want to get their brands and products out there. We’ve already had some legends on the podcast and there’s more to come.

KA: Absolutely. I love what we’re able to work together on now and hopefully we get to do even more – having a great time and adding some enjoyment and insight for other people who love golf like we do along the way.

EuroPro Tour event axed from TV after ‘excessive’ amounts of swearing

europro tour on sky sports

EuroPro Tour players were cautioned and left disappointed after Sky Sports pulled the broadcast

Players competing on the EuroPro Tour have been cautioned and left “disappointed” after a broadcast was pulled by Sky Sports due to “excessive amounts of swearing.”

According to a players’ memo issued by EuroPro Tour CEO Dan Godding, Sky Sports picked up five uses of the ‘F’ word while editing coverage of the Lancer Scott Championship, which took place at Machynys Peninsula between 10-12 August. This was on top of four uses which had already been removed by the Tour’s production team.

The show subsequently had to pulled from air, and players were threatened with “significantly raising fines” after being warned the incident could jeopardise the Tour’s existence.

The memo read: “As you can imagine this is exceptionally embarrassing for the club and the sponsor who have informed all their members and their clients. This problem seems to be growing and although it’s only a small few it’s bemusing.

“By saying the ‘F’ word when you are being watched is unforgivable. You are no longer just a golfer you are an entertainer, an ambassador for your sport and industry. What you portray matters to the development and future of the sport.

“It’s hard work making this Tour viable. The last thing I need is our members saying the ‘F’ word or in fact the ‘C’ word on a few occasions, in our programming.”

This is the letter sent to EuroPro Tour members after the final round of a recent tournament couldn’t be televised because of too much off-color language caught on hot microphones: pic.twitter.com/HMoRCIZnPG — Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelTAN) August 23, 2022

Having been warned they will be hit with fines if such profanities continue, we reached out to a EuroTour Pro player – who asked to remain anonymous – and he said:

“We’re all disappointed that we’re not going to be on Sky Sports just because of a bit bad language. I have no issue with players being fined for bad language, but why can’t they edit it out? I don’t understand.

“Think about all the bad language that other pros use, and the commentators just say ‘sorry for any bad language you may have heard’. That’s all they do, they just apologise, they don’t cut it off!

“People have to understand that we’re doing this for a living. Unfortunately, sometimes we can let our emotions get the better of us. There’s a lot of pressure on us, so when we do let our emotions get the better of us, it’s just because we care so much about the result.”

We have reached out to the EuroPro Tour for a comment, but are still awaiting a response.

PGA EuroPro Tour to end after 20 years

Sep 28, 2022

Chicago sky at indiana fever odds, picks and predictions, share this article.

europro tour on sky sports

The Chicago Sky (3-3) and Indiana Fever (1-8) meet Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tip-off is scheduled for noon ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s  lines around the Sky vs. Fever odds , and make our expert WNBA picks and predictions .

Season series: First meeting; Sky won 3-1

The Sky picked up an 83-73 win over the LA Sparks at Wintrust Arena Thursday, covering as 4.5-point home favorites with the Under (159.5) connecting. G Marina Mabrey went for a team-best 20 points with 7 assists and 7 rebounds, including 6 3-pointers, while rookie F Angel Reese chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in 25 minutes before fouling out.

Chicago is 1-2 straight up (SU) in its last 3 outings, but the Sky have covered 4 of their past 5 contests. The Under has connected in their past 2 outings. The Sky have covered their past 2 road games, and they covered in their only previous game as favorites. The Over is 2-1 in their 3 road games.

The Fever were tripped up 103-88 at home against the Seattle Storm Thursday, failing as 5.5-point underdogs and the Over (168) cashing. Indiana has lost 3 in a row since its lone win at Los Angeles May 24, and it is 0-3 against the spread (ATS) in the past 3 games since a 4-0 ATS run.

Indiana will be without C Temi Fagbenle for at least 2 more weeks due to a foot injury, while F Damiris Dantas (knee) and G Erica Wheeler (personal) carry questionable tags into Saturday’s game.

G  Caitlin Clark , the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, went for 20 points, 9 assists and 3 rebounds with a blocked shot, 3 3-pointers and 7 turnovers in the loss to the Storm.

Obviously, all eyes will be on Clark vs. Reese in their 1st head-to-head battle since Iowa dispatched LSU 94-87 in the NCAA Tournament in the Elite 8 round.

Sky at Fever odds

Provided by FanDuel Sportsbook ; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:58 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML) : Sky -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Fever +128 (bet $100 to win $128)
  • Against the spread : Sky -3 (-110) | Fever +3 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U) : 166 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Sky at Fever picks and predictions

Sky 89, Fever 79

CHICAGO (-160) is a solid play as a decent favorite. The Sky have been playing much better basketball to date, and Mabrey has taken a lot of the pressure off of Reese as a veteran presence. For Indiana (+128), Clark has some decent veterans surrounding her, too, but she is the No. 1 scoring option, so it’s been a slightly rocky transition at times.

Against the spread

CHICAGO -3 ( -110 ) is an even better value if you don’t mind laying the little bit of points. Do not play both the moneyline and point spread for more than 1½ combined UNITS  as we’re not looking to double dip here.

For the Sky, they covered as a 4.5-point favorites last time out, their 1st time laying points this season. Chicago is 4-1 ATS in the past 5 outings, too, including 2-0 ATS in the past 2 on the road.

Indiana lost Fagbenle, a big part of the frontcourt, and the Fever weren’t all that deep to begin with. Wheeler’s status for Saturday is unknown, too.

The Fever are a little shorthanded, and that’s good news for Reese and the Sky, although this should be an exciting game throughout.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now !

OVER 166 ( -110 ) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

While the Under has cashed in each of the past 2 games for the Sky, including the only game as favorites so far, the Over is 2-1 in their first 3 road games.

Plus, Indiana has seen the total go Over in 3 straight, and 6 of its past 7 games, while allowing 88 or more points in 3 in a row, and 7 of the past 9 contests.

The NBA Finals don’t start till next week, but you can still enjoy plenty of games at these online casinos all summer.
